Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is expected to return to AEW in the near future, as per a new report. Sources within the company believe the veteran wrestler will be back soon, potentially as early as Wednesday night's episode of Dynamite.
According to Fightful Select AEW sources indicated that Jericho's recently trademarked "Cornerstone" name would be more appropriate in an AEW context.
The report also noted that Jericho and AEW have discussed his return over the past couple of months. However, no definite confirmation has been provided.
Wednesday's Dynamite takes place at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jericho's hometown. The timing and location have fueled speculation about a potential return appearance.
WWE Return Not Expected
While there have been talks between Jericho and WWE, the company never had creative plans for him, according to Fightful. He was not planned for the WWE Raw on Netflix anniversary, the Royal Rumble, or the Elimination Chamber, despite heavy speculation surrounding each event.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com reported that WWE sources said fans should not expect Jericho in WWE "any time soon, if ever." This statement was made around the same time Jericho filed his new trademark.
Current Schedule and Status
Jericho has concerts scheduled with his KISS cover band Kuarantine in New York on Thursday and Friday. The band will perform in Cohoes on Thursday night and Rome on Friday, with the first show approximately a six-hour flight from Winnipeg.
Despite his ongoing absence from television, Jericho remains listed on the AEW roster page. His last appearance for the company came before his current hiatus began earlier this year.
