Max Caster Claims Anthony Bowens Still Works For AEW

Max Caster says Anthony Bowens still works for AEW, even though Fightful Select reported both former Acclaimed members became free agents on October 1.

Max Caster says Anthony Bowens still works for AEW, even after Fightful Select reported that both former Acclaimed members became free agents on October 1.

Caster made the comments during a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest. It was brought up that Bowens left AEW around the same time Caster did, and Caster disagreed. He said Bowens is “still there,” added that he doesn’t want to speak for him too much, and said “he still works there.”

Caster isn’t expected back in AEW any time soon, while Bowens could still be in negotiations.

Praise for Tony Khan

Platinum Max also spoke positively about his former boss, AEW President Tony Khan.

I always gotta shout out Tony Khan because he’s supporting a lot of wrestlers’ living right now, including me. I’m still living off AEW money. That’s a guy who, for whatever reason in his heart, is supporting wrestling and supporting wrestlers.

Bowens Hasn’t Cleared It Up

In an interview with Michael Fairman, Bowens said he didn’t want to speculate on his future and was taking things one day at a time. He added that he knows what he wants to do and “we’ll see if it works out,” without saying whether he is under contract. He has since posted a photo of himself training at the NJPW Dojo. Earlier this month, Bowens also addressed a minor knee injury.

Bowens last wrestled for AEW on the All In Buy In show in late August. The Wrestling Observer reported in September that WWE had at least some interest in him.

Caster’s own situation has changed since. TNA cut ties with him the day after his Bound For Glory appearance over a rap line referencing the Riyadh attacks. At the K & S WrestleFest signing, he said “you never say never” about an AEW return, but that he is saying no to wrestling bookings for now. As of this writing, neither Bowens nor AEW has confirmed whether he has signed a new deal.
