CM Punk will be returning to TV next week.
The former World Heavyweight Champion has not been seen in a WWE ring since April. His last match came at WrestleMania 42, where the Straight Edge Star dropped the World Title to Roman Reigns in the highly praised main event.
The wrestling veteran then let the fans know that he was not going on a vacation in his Raw After WrestleMania promo, only to be taken off TV without an explanation right afterwards.
CM Punk Set For UFC Series
While there is no word on when CM Punk will be returning to WWE, he has been announced for another TV show in the meantime. In a new press release, A&E confirmed that the former MMA star will be part of the panel for their upcoming UFC Rivals specials premiering next Sunday:
A&E’s two-episode special event “UFC Rivals” is an electrifying look at some of the most iconic feuds in UFC history. Television personality and UFC superfan Mario Lopez leads a roundtable of experts including C.M. Punk, Michael Bisping, Miesha Tate, and Ken Shamrock to unpack the rivalries that defined an era and transformed the UFC into a global phenomenon.
The 47-year-old had teased a potential future match with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in his last appearance. It’s possible that the company is just keeping him off TV until it’s time for this rivalry to begin.
Whether it turns out to be the case will be revealed in time, but the continued talk about Punk’s status shows his relevance to the pro wrestling world even today.
