Cody Rhodes has a clear favorite when it comes to which WrestleMania 42 match he is most looking forward to watching, and it is not his own.
Appearing on ESPN's Get Up on Tuesday morning, the Undisputed WWE Champion named GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins as the match he is most excited about on the two-night card, praising it as a throwback to a style of wrestling he has deep appreciation for.
"There's always a little bit of that split between the sports entertainment and the wrestling. The sports and the entertainment," Rhodes said. "And the one that's old-school sports style that I really like, just good, old-fashioned wrestling: Gunther vs. Seth Rollins. I'm all about that. That's a wrestlers' wrestling match."
The match is scheduled for Night One on April 18 and marks Rollins' first in-ring appearance since suffering a shoulder injury at WWE Crown Jewel in October 2025. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE considered multiple opponents for Rollins' return before ultimately landing on GUNTHER.
Rhodes also used the Get Up appearance to take another shot at Pat McAfee, who will be in Randy Orton's corner when the two meet for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the Night One main event. Rhodes described McAfee as a "rat" who is surrounded by people who do not tell him no often enough, adding fuel to a rivalry that has dominated the WrestleMania 42 build.
WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18-19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, streaming on the ESPN app with an ESPN Unlimited plan.
