What started as an intense face-off between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes ended with an unexpected interruption that had the live crowd laughing.
Earlier in the evening, Punk and Cody joined forces to defeat Gunther and Sami Zayn at a WWE Live Event. Once the match was over, however, the two SummerSlam opponents stood face-to-face, with tensions rising as it looked like a fight was about to break out.
Then, out of nowhere, Danhausen sprinted down the entrance ramp completely drenched and wearing nothing but a bath towel, hilariously placing himself between Punk and Cody before things could turn physical.
Post-Match Shower Interruptions
As bizarre as the moment appeared, longtime fans immediately recognized the reference. Back during WWE’s Madison Square Garden Holiday Tour in December 2024, CM Punk famously rushed out from the locker room wearing only a towel and shower cap to rescue Damian Priest from a post-match attack.
With Danhausen and Punk being close friends outside the ring, the AEW star recreated that unforgettable “fresh out of the shower” entrance, only this time to prevent Punk and Cody Rhodes from coming to blows.
The playful callback served as a clever inside joke for fans who remembered the original moment and quickly became one of the most talked-about highlights from the Stockton live event.
