Masha Slamovich made her MLW debut at Saturday’s Fightland and Fusion tapings in Charleston, South Carolina, and left with the MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship.
She did not arrive alone. Slamovich debuted as the newest member of CONTRA Unit, a detail absent from the wider spoiler reports.
Her first appearance came during the Fightland taping, where she attacked Clara Carter as Carter was heading out for a scheduled match with Lady Frost. Slamovich took the spot and beat Frost.
Later, on the Fusion block, she interrupted a Shotzi Blackheart promo. That set up a title match Slamovich won, ending a reign Blackheart began at a February taping that aired in June. Full spoilers from the Charleston block are available here.
Her First Televised Run Since Leaving TNA
Slamovich has not worked for a nationally distributed promotion since September 2025, when her former partner AKIRA publicly accused her of physical and emotional abuse. TNA opened an internal investigation and pulled her from a scheduled Knockouts Championship match at Victory Road.
She addressed the allegations in a statement describing the relationship as toxic and mutually destructive, and said she took responsibility for her actions. Her TNA contract expired later that year without being renewed, and she was removed from the roster page in December. Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba reported at the time that TNA leadership planned to revisit the situation in 2026.
Slamovich wrestled her first match since the allegations at a Circle 6 event in January and has taken independent bookings since. AKIRA previously worked for MLW.
What It Means For The Division
MLW’s plan for its women’s division looked different a week ago. The promotion announced Tessa Blanchard on September 1, with Blanchard saying she intended to make the MLW title the top women’s championship in wrestling and naming Blackheart as the obstacle. Blanchard was removed from MLW’s website days later after CMLL stated that she had agreed to work the September 12 date only.
Slamovich took the belt instead, and the CONTRA alignment extends a faction MLW has booked as its dominant force all year. CONTRA has spent 2026 absorbing talent and claiming control of the company in storyline. It now has a piece of the women’s division too.
Neither the Fightland special nor the Fusion episodes from the Charleston block have aired. MLW has not commented publicly on Slamovich’s signing.
