MVP says the rumors that The Hurt Syndicate refuses to put AEW talent over are “blatant lies.” He hit back on X on Saturday, days after Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp said the group has had situations where it didn’t want to put people over.
MVP responded after an account brought up several rumors about the faction, including that it has refused to put certain wrestlers over, that MVP has been influencing Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin to say no to ideas, and that he has heat with important people in creative. The claims echo rumors that first circulated in August 2025. “Rumor? Nah man,” MVP wrote, insisting none of it is true and adding that he now knows where the “whisper campaign” is coming from.
In a separate post, MVP said the group wanted to work with younger talent and wanted to drop the AEW World Tag Team Championships back to Private Party, and he urged fans to stop believing the claims. Lashley and Benjamin won those titles from Private Party in late January 2025. In a follow-up post, MVP wished most of his followers a good Saturday and told anyone “lying and spreading gossip” to have the day they deserve.
What Sapp said
Sapp was answering a fan question on Fightful’s The Hump about why Lashley, Benjamin and MVP haven’t been featured consistently. He said he doesn’t know what is keeping them off TV, but that he knows there has been a lot of talk about them not wanting to put people over, and that there have been “some situations where they haven’t wanted to.”
Sapp did not identify which members were involved, who they were asked to lose to, or whether any of it is connected to their lack of TV time. We covered his comments when they first surfaced.
Where The Hurt Syndicate stands
Multiple outlets have pegged the group’s last AEW appearance as the Buy-In show for All In: London at Wembley, where Lashley and Benjamin teamed with Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall to beat Shane Taylor Promotions. MVP wasn’t at the event, and Fightful Select reported that visa changes kept him out.
MVP has dealt with a version of this story before. The group lost the tag titles to Brodido at Forbidden Door in August 2025, and later that year MVP told the Marking Out podcast that a “fictional narrative” had grown around the idea that the group won’t do jobs. He said they are willing to lose to a younger team when the business is done the right way.
