Grayson Waller’s dismissive comments about TNA Wrestling in his fiery NXT promo have drawn sharp responses from TNA talents, with Moose and Brian Myers turning his return to developmental into ammunition. The exchange played out across social media on Wednesday, framed as inter-promotional banter rather than any official storyline.
During an in-ring promo on NXT, Waller took aim at TNA as a whole, leaning on his usual heat-seeking persona. He compared being a top TNA wrestler to being the best player at a local YMCA.
It ain’t 2005, lad. Being the top guy in TNA is like being the best basketball player at the local YMCA. I’m not impressed,” Waller said.
Moose And Brian Myers Fire Back
Moose, a former TNA World Champion, answered on X by suggesting Waller would come running to TNA if WWE ever moved on from him. The multiple-time champion has long been a vocal defender of the promotion on social media.
Brian Myers took a more pointed angle, mocking the fact that Waller has been working WWE’s developmental brand. Myers, a former WWE talent who rebuilt his career in TNA, questioned Waller’s standing to talk down about anyone.
“Imagine talking down on TNA when you just got sent back to developmental. Focus on making TV before you talk about real stars,” Myers wrote.
Waller built his NXT profile around provocative promos, most notably his 2022-2023 feud with Bron Breakker, and WWE has consistently highlighted his willingness to bury opponents and outside promotions to draw heat. This latest jab fits that pattern.
There is no cross-promotional angle between the two companies tied to the comments. WWE has not referenced TNA by name in its NXT recaps, and neither promotion has acknowledged a formal storyline, leaving the back-and-forth as social media discourse driven by the wrestlers themselves.
CM Punk, who also has history with TNA, weighed in on Waller’s NXT promo as well.
