Nick Aldis Reinstated As SmackDown GM

Nick Aldis’ run as WWE SmackDown General Manager looked like it might be over for good during the SummerSlam Night One post-show segment on Saturday. Instead, Triple H made sure it wasn’t.

Fresh off his loss to Gunther earlier in the night, Aldis handed Triple H a letter of resignation. According to Triple H, Aldis has spent three years in the role and has been a man of his word throughout. Triple H added that he respects Aldis for standing on that word now.

Triple H also addressed the Gunther match itself, noting that Gunther crossed a line and that the two settled it in the ring. He said the outcome mattered less than the fact that Aldis showed up and fought, and that he was proud of Aldis for everything he did across the rest of SummerSlam Night 1.

Aldis Back In The GM Chair Friday

Rather than accept the resignation, Triple H tore up the letter in front of Aldis. He said he believes in what Aldis has built since stepping away from the GM role to accept the Gunther match, and reinstated him on the spot, telling him it was time to get back to work and that he’s calling things down the middle.

Aldis is set to return as SmackDown General Manager this Friday.
