WWE has taken a look at Anthony Bowens. The Wrestling Observer reports there was at least some interest from WWE in Bowens, whose AEW contract is reportedly set to expire on October 1. The report goes no further than that, and there is no word on talks.
Fightful Select reported this week that the deal has not been extended and that it has not learned whether negotiations have begun. Max Caster’s contract runs out on the same day.
There is history behind it. Fightful reported in 2019 that WWE had planned to sign Bowens before someone in the process failed to follow up. He signed with AEW in October 2020 instead.
Bowens has stayed visible. He has wrestled 12 matches in 2026 as part of The Opps, most recently on the All In Buy In at Wembley Stadium, where he teamed with Action Andretti, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata and took the pin in a loss to Lio Rush and The Rascalz.

Caster’s situation looks nothing like it. He has not wrestled for AEW at all in 2026 and last appeared on the December 17 Dynamite in Manchester in the Diamond Ring battle royal. He has kept busy on the independents, including a Beyond Wrestling date in Rhode Island in July.
Bowens is 35. As The Acclaimed, he and Caster won the AEW World Tag Team Championship and took the World Trios Titles with Billy Gunn at All In 2023, in the same building where Bowens took his most recent loss.
