Matt Hardy did not expect Kurt Angle to become the ultimate entertainer when the two first met.
The Broken One talked about the career of the Olympic Gold Medallist in detail during the latest episode of his podcast. He talked about things such as Angle\'s WWE TV debut, his first world title win and more.
Before all this, however, Hardy discussed his first impression of the fellow wrestling veteran. He noted that Kurt Angle seemed to be a mix of a dry personality with killer instincts when the two first met:
\"When I think about Kurt Angle initially. I remember hearing about him when he was signing with WWE. I remember meeting him and just how, it almost seemed like he had a very dry personality.
He was just like one of these straightforward, kick-ass athletes, who was just kind of quiet and just kind of did his thing but he was a killer whenever he would get you on the mat. That\'s what it seemed out initially.\

Even when Matt Hardy got the chance to work out with Angle, he did not perceive the success Kurt would achieve with his character work. He did not see the WWE Hall of Famer becoming the ultimate entertainer that he ended up becoming:
\"Even working out with him in the beginning, as he was kind of learning about pro wrestling and whatnot, it just seemed like \'Ah, I don\'t know. This guy. Does he have a larger-than-life personality? Is he really gonna excel?\' He\'s gonna be great in the ring, because his mechanics are awesome. They\'re just unbelievable. He\'s so physically, athletically gifted, he would probably be great.
But just the thing I think about with Kurt Angle was like how I did not expect him to morph into this complete, entertaining character that was absolutely amazing, had a great comedic timing and great comedic humor. [He] could just entertain the shit out of everyone out there. He ended up being the ultimate entertainer, and like you said, one of the greatest packages ever in pro wrestling.\
