In a stunning move, Britt Baker returned to AEW by costing Maya World the TBS Championship at All In. In doing so, Baker also simultaneously aligned herself with the woman who won the title in return, Persephone.
Baker and Persephone later revealed they were bonded by a common enemy in the form of Thunder Rosa. Still, Persephone admittedly has some reservations about her new partnership with the former AEW Women’s World Champion.
As she described it, the alliance is currently in a state of “make-or-break.”
I think I’ve always just been comfortable wrestling on my own, so this new idea of you and Britt, it was really interesting because we both have, I don’t want to say big egos, but big egos,” Persephone told The Sportster. We’re just very confident in ourselves. So, at first I thought this is a make-or-break thing in that we both believe a lot in ourselves and we both are very good individually. So I think together we could either be something really good, great, or we could clash. I think we’re in this neutral testing-the-waters phase right now to see how it goes.
Persephone further pointed out that she’s never had a true “ride or die” partner, but rather short-term allies, in pro wrestling. Similarly, as an Olympic wrestler, she represented a team, but once she stepped onto the mat, she competed as an individual.
So far, Persephone’s alliance with Baker has proven successful as the two picked up a six-woman tag match win, alongside Hikaru Shida, on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Only time will tell if that will remain the case.
