Tony Khan comments on WWE’s predatory practices.
The AEW President recently spoke to the Battleground podcast for a new interview to promote Sunday’s Redemption PPV. He talked about things such as Kevin Knight getting an AEW title shot, potentially bringing back ROH Hall of Fame and more.
During the talk, the wrestling executive was also asked about WWE counterprogramming the upcoming September 26 All Out PPV in Chicago with an event on the same day and in the same city as their show. He was asked if the move is healthy competition or just the reality of the business, and Tony Khan explained that it’s a predatory practice:
It’s probably all of the above. I think it’s all of the above. It’s the reality of current wrestling. It’s the, frankly, predatory nature of scheduling of events but also, the compliment that says that AEW’s doing very well and Chicago’s a great city for wrestling.
I’m very excited about AEW All Out, and it’s not something unexpected to have competition and I do welcome it and I also really am excited about the run of shows coming up.
The announced Worlds Collide event is not the only WWE show to go against an upcoming AEW PPV. The TKO-owned promotion has also booked NXT Heatwave to go against AEW All In on August 26, and it will be kicking off around the same time as the PPV from Wembley Stadium.
