TNA fans can use the tickets for Friday and Saturday’s tapings on Sunday and Monday respectively. A start time for the re-scheduled events will be announced on their social media pages.

Sonya Deville Details Fight to Restore Her Confidence After ACL Surgery

0

Sonya Deville returned to WWE TV in May of this year in a backstage segment with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, a precursor to the Pure Fusion Collective. While Baszler is officially back after suffering an ACL tear in July 2023, the former Women’s Tag Team Champion is still struggling to regain her confidence in the ring.

Althought Baszler had optimistically hoped she’d just suffered a nasty sprain, a trip to the bathroom mere days after her injury made clear to her how serious her situation was. Speaking to WWE – Die Woche, Deville shared that she wouldn’t wish an ACL injury on anyone and described her recovery as a long, treacherous recovery process.

“You think you’re gonna get the surgery and then a couple of months are gonna go by and you’re gonna feel great, but it takes a very long time.”

Deville, WWE’s first openly lesbian Superstarin the promotion’s history, admitted that she’s still trying to find her place in the ring, despite being back for months.

“To get back into full-blown wrestling shape, it took a long time, and I’m still getting my confidence back in the ring. It’s still a forever-evolving process, but all is well. No pain, knock on wood. We’re good.”

Deville’s comments underscore how for wrestlers, a recovery from a serious injury can be just as much a mental process as much as it is about physical wellbeing. Not only did the injury rattle Deville’s confidence in the ring, but it also ended her time as a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, her first title reign in nine years with the promotion. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Sonya Deville as the former MMA fighter continues to find her place on WWE’s roster after her grueling ACL injury.

Paul Walter Hauser Returning To MLW, Issues Warning To JBL

0

WWE Hall of Famer John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield has been making his presence felt in the wrestling world as of late with appearances in TNA, GCW, AAA, and beyond. Recently, the self-professed ‘Wrestling God’ arrived in MLW to assist Brock Anderson and has caught the attention of Emmy Award-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser.

On the latest MLW Pit-Fighters, Hauser made clear he has no love for JBL, who he said “came back from the dead.” He added that Layfield has no place in MLW, stating that “I know he’s one of the boys, but he’s not one of our boys.”

Hauser, perhaps best known for his role in Blackbird, confirmed that he will return to MLW in Chicago later this year and had a stark warning for the former WWE Champion.

“If JBL sticks his nose or his clothesline into my business, I will knock his ancient ass to the ground. And when he wakes up, he’ll think he’s back in Connecticut wearing a cowboy hat with his boss’ ass on his breath. So stay clear, Temu Stan Hanson.”

JBL, who is still under a WWE Legends contract, has explained his recent resurgence, stating he didn’t want his ill-fated alliance with Baron Corbin to be the end of his pro wrestling legacy. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on the WWE Hall of Famer as he continues to capture the attention of fans with his appearances outside WWE.

MVP Says AEW Run Is ‘Quite Possibly The Final Chapter’ Of His Career

0

MVP says the newest chapter of his wrestling career is quite possibly the final chapter of his illustrious run in the sports entertainment world.

The former WWE star made his highly anticipated AEW debut during the Dynamite: Grand Slam special this Wednesday. He interrupted a segment with Prince Nana and looked to make acquaintence with the former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland.

The newest AEW signee commented on his arrival in a new video on Instagram. He claimed that he is the same MVP, just conducting business in a new place:

“Cat’s out of the bag. By now I’m sure many of you know – and if you don’t, you’re about to find out – that I’ve embarked on an exciting new chapter for my professional wrestling career.

And I’m excited because this new chapter is quite possibly the final chapter. And I’ve got some really cool things in store. So if you’ve been a fan of mine for this long, come hang out for just a little bit longer. Same MVP, just conducting business in a new location. MVP is AEW. See you next week.”

MVP’s Last Run?

Managing the Hurt Business was the highlight of MVP’s second WWE run from 2020 to 2024. The group consisting of Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander ruled the Raw brand during the pandemic era.

While the group disbanded in early 2022, the fans believed that there was a lot more the company could have done with them. WWE even teased a reunion for the faction in early 2023 but the idea was quickly dropped.

Three of the four members of the Hurt Business have since left WWE with MVP himself departing in August this year after his contract expired. Cedric Alexander is the only star who is still with the company, having signed a new contract recently.

MVP has been talking about the reunion of the faction in recent months. Fans who paid close attention to his AEW debut will know that it also teased the arrival of the group on Tony Khan’s promotion.

Saraya Re-Signs With AEW

0

Saraya has reportedly signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), according to Fightful. This news comes two years after Saraya made her debut with AEW at Dynamite Grand Slam 2022.

Saraya is a former AEW Women’s World Champion, and has wrestled 10 matches this year. She currently leads the Outcasts with Harley Cameron.

At AEW All In, Saraya was confronted by Jamie Hayter. The two have been feuding ever since and they’ll square off this Saturday night on AEW Collision (TNT, 8/7c).

Saraya’s upcoming book, Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives, will be released March 25, 2025.

MVP Has Hurt Syndicate On His Mind In AEW

0

MVP could be AEW’s literal MVP soon enough if his new business card indicates anything.

The former proprietor of The Hurt Business made his All Elite Wrestling debut at AEW Grand Slam to confront Prince Nana about the injured Swerve Strickland. Nana, a hometown New Yorker, received a warm recepetion from Arthur Ashe Stadium, but he wasn’t warmly received by MVP.

MVP praised the AEW World Title reign of Swerve and the legacy he’s already carved in the company, but went on to question the focus and intention of Nana. MVP thinks Nana was just their to dance and sell coffee, but MVP has bigger plans for Swerve. Nana then is handed MVP’s business card who wants Swerve to get a hold of him for his services.

At a closer glance, one can look at MVP’s card and see that under his three signature intials is indeed the “Hurt Syndicate” title.

Could Swerve Strickland be MVP’s latest client and could he be joining the ranks of some very familiar faces? Reports have been that MVP had plans to join AEW and now that we’ve seen him in the mix, it certainly opens up possibilites of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin joining alongside MVP in AEW. Both talents are notoriously free agents as Lashley uncerimoniously left WWE and Benjamin was released from the company back in September of 2023.

Lashley has expressed after the fact that he has no plans to hang up the boots and it would only make sense from a storyline standpoint that he reunites with MVP.

CM Punk Eyes New WWE Rivals After Drew McIntyre Feud

0

CM Punk’s current feud with Drew McIntyre is set to culminate at WWE Bad Blood, where the two will clash in a Hell in a Cell match. After this rivalry, Punk is already eyeing new opponents, starting with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

The former WWE & AEW World Champion spoke with 103.5 KISS FM this week, and expressed interest in facing a mix of familiar rivals and fresh competitors.

Among his past adversaries, he named:

  • Rey Mysterio
  • John Cena
  • Randy Orton
  • Cody Rhodes.

As for new opponents, Punk is eager to step into the ring with:

  • GUNTHER
  • Chad Gable
  • Ludwig Kaiser
  • Dominik Mysterio
  • Liv Morgan
  • Damian Priest

What CM Punk Expects When Raw Moves to Netflix

In addition to his in-ring aspirations, Punk commented on WWE Raw’s upcoming move to Netflix in January 2025. He downplayed the likelihood of significant changes to the show’s content, emphasizing that it will largely stay the same.

While nostalgia is powerful, many fans are advocating for a more edgy product in the hopes of recapturing the magic of the R-Rated Attitude Era. However, Punk warned that fans anticipating a return to mature content—such as excessive profanity or lingerie pillow fights—will be disappointed. Reflecting on the Attitude Era, he pointed out that pushing boundaries often resulted in unsustainable, lower-quality programming over time.

WWE Hell in a Cell takes place next Saturday, October 5 from Atlanta, GA at the State Farm Arena. The premium live event will stream live on Peacock.

Artem Chigvintsev Says “Truth Has Prevailed” As DV Charges Are Dropped

0

In July, Artem Chigvintsev, the husband of Nikki Garcia, was arrested and charged with corporal injury to a spouse, a felony that could’ve seen him face years in prison. This week, it was confirmed that Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley has declined to file criminal charges, after a thorough review of the investigation.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Chigvintse, best known for his work on Dancing with The Stars shared his relief that he will not be facing charges over what allegedly transpired in August.

“I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped. This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed. My focus has always been and will always be, our son Matteo. He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life. All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward.

“I am hopeful that securing an equal custody arrangement will help us move on. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and legal team for standing by me during this challenging time. Your support has been invaluable, and I am thankful to everyone who believed in me and saw the truth for what it was. I look forward to moving past this chapter and focusing on what truly matters—continue being the best father I can be.”

Chigvintsev’s attorney, Ilona Antonyan, also provided a statement, adding that the goal now is to focus on a 50/50 custody schedule of Matteo between Artem and Garcia. Chigvintsev has been seeking joint custody of his and Nikki’s son, while she has sought sole custody with Chigvintsev being given visitation rights.

Antonyan adds that the investigation has proven that Chigvintsev was not the aggressor in the incident that led to his arrest.

“My understanding of the investigated facts surrounding the 8/29/24 incident have led me to conclude from the beginning that Artem was not the primary aggressor. I believe that to be true even if the burden of proof would be the preponderance of evidence, which is the standard of proof in family court. He was protecting himself and Matteo.”

A representative for Nikki Garcia, known to WWE fans as Nikki Bella, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. While the couple intends to divorce, the hope now is that both sides can do what is best for seven-year-old Matteo.

First Look: John Cena Guest Stars in The Simpsons Season 36 Premiere

0

John Cena is heading to Springfield. The 16-time WWE World Champion will guest star on The Simpsons Season 36 premiere, airing this Sunday on FOX.

We have a first look at Cena’s animated character, which has been anticipated ever since his guest spot was announced back at San Diego Comic-Con. He joins an already star-studded season, with Danny DeVito, Tom Hanks, and former Simpsons writer and late-night host Conan O’Brien also making returns.

Cena’s guest spot on The Simpsons continues a longstanding tradition of celebrity cameos in the series. Notably, he’s not the first WWE Superstar to visit Springfield.

That honor goes to Bret “The Hitman” Hart, who appeared in Season 8’s The Old Man and the Lisa (air date: April 20, 1997). In the episode, Hart purchases Mr. Burns’ mansion after the billionaire loses his fortune, despite his initial hesitation due to the “old man stink!” lingering in the house.

For Cena, this animated appearance is another milestone in his post-WWE career, where he has successfully transitioned into film and television.

Best known for his role as Peacemaker and as Jakob Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise, Cena continues to expand his entertainment footprint with this stop on one of the most beloved television shows in history.

Cardi B Celebrates WWE SummerSlam In NYC With Bianca Belair

0

AEW may have had New York City last night as the host of Grand Slam, but WWE will take a bite out of the Big Apple next summer. On Thursday, WWE announced that the company will have a full weekened residence at MetLife Stadium on August 2 and August 3.

WWE released a press release breaking the news, but they also put together a promotional spot featuring Bianca Belair and hip-hop sensation Cardi B. In the video, Bianca gets a phone call and it’s Cardi on the other line and the package features one of her songs. Cardi B posted on X to share her excitement for the news and offered the following comment.

“Here’s to the Streets.. and to my girl Bianca Belair! SummerSlam. 2Nights. MetLife Stadium. August 2nd and 3rd”

WWE has been making the most of their wrestlers and their ties to rap artists who are also wrestling fans. Just two weeks ago, Megan Thee Stallion was revealed to be the new musical voice of the WWE SmackDown intro. Stallion even took to social media to tease a potential debut for WWE down the line.

The ironic aspect of these specific artists hitching their wagon to WWE is that both stars are admirers of Mercedes Mone who is neck deep in a massive contract with AEW. While on The Breakfast Club earlier this week, Mone revealed that there were match plans with Stallion, but now that she’s with AEW those plans are off. Surprisingly enough, Mone was not a presence on AEW Grand Slam.

Shane McMahon Flies With AEW’s Young Bucks in “Coincidence Meeting”

0

In July of this year, wrestling fans were shocked as Shane McMahon, the prodigal son of WWE, met with Tony Khan at an airport in Arlington, Texas. This week, McMahon was once again in an airport, and once again, his time traveling left the 54-year-old feeling very ‘Elite.’

On Twitter, the Young Bucks shared that they bumped into McMahon at an airport with the AEW World Tag Champions saying they had an “interesting flight today.”

McMahon has said that it was sheer “coincidence” that he and the Bucks were on the same flight, Cultaholic reports. The trio were seen speaking and laughing together before boarding their flight in New York. All three sat in first class, with McMahon sitting behind the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions. It’s added that the two parties didn’t interact much during the flight, as the Bucks slept through most of the journey to Salt Lake City.

McMahon and Tony Khan had a “really nice” meeting in which they discussed their mutual fondness for wrestling and “possibilities moving forward.” Their meeting came after Conrad Thompson claimed that McMahon had spoken to some in AEW about the possibility of joining Tony Khan’s first promotion. It was later clarified that Shane was not making a formal pitch to join AEW and was simply stating that it would be an interesting moment in wrestling

What Does The Roster Say?

Shane McMahon and Tony Khan
Tony Khan and Shane McMahon

Shane McMahon joining AEW would certainly be huge and has the backing of AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson, who’s open to working with Shane in AEW. McMahon and Danielson were once authority figures on SmackDown and teamed together at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.

MJF on the other hand has warned Shane to stay away from him, citing that it’s in the best interest of Shane’s health if the pair were kept at a distance. MJF has also mocked McMahon’s WrestleMania 39 quad tear, commenting that the ‘apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,’ a nod to Vince McMahon suffering the same injury in 2005.

What’s Next?

While Shane has yet to appear on AEW programming, this chance encounter with the Young Bucks will add fuel to the rumors that he could be joining. Although a McMahon being All-Elite would’ve seemed impossible just a year ago, fans likewise once felt it was impossible that Vince McMahon would leave WWE, never mind doing so twice.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on Shane McMahon as fans continue await what the future holds for him, and whether his future is in AEW.

Big Bill’s Premie Nephew Could Win Baby Of The Year

0

Despite being seven-foot-tall, Big Bill knows what it’s like to fight from underneath and his baby nephew Connor is doing the same after only just being born at 28 weeks.

Big Bill, real name William Morrissey, who is nearing five years of sobriety, spoke with me ahead of his trios tag match involving The Learning Tree taking on The Congolmoration on the upcoming episode of AEW Collision.

Big Bill is no stranger to Arthur Ashe Stadium as Queens, NY is his almost literal backyard, but did give details about Connor who is now home after spending nearly three months in the neonatal unit for premature babies. Bill mentioned Connor was nominated for the 2024 Good Housekeeping Baby Of The Year Award and if Connor wins, the family will take home $25,000 to benefit his future. Big Bill also said how appreciative he is for the wrestling fans and the support they’ve already shown for baby Connor.

“No matter what side you’re on, or who you love or who you hate, the wrestling community always comes together for something like this so put it out there and a lot of people have responded so I’m really, really appreciative of that.”

You can vote for Baby Connor by going here (deadline is Sept. 26 at 7 PM Pacific Standard Time)

Big Bill Has Learned From Chris Jericho

Big Bill is also appreciative of his Learning Tree branches in Bryan Keith and Chris Jericho Bill mentioned Chris helped donate to Connor and planned on thanking him at Arthur Ashe, but did say what he’s actually learned from Jericho. A big takeaway is always playing it straight no matter how ridiculous a segment can be.

“I agree with him. No matter how goofy things may seem, no matter how silly, no matter how much you think someone may look at that and be, ‘Oh, that is so stupid.’ As long as you play it straight, you believe it and you believe it’s real, it’s going to work and I feel like that’s what we’ve been doing.

“The thing with a character like that is yeah, you can be funny, but when things get real you gotta lock in and I think we’re also very good at that.”

As for Keith, Bill knows that he’s one mean man, and “The Bad Apple” conveys viciousness, but has the charisma factor as well.

“T-shirt material. He’s got all these things that he says that can all be t-shirts. He’s killing it.”

Shawn Spears Explains Reason Behind AEW Departure

0

Shawn Spears has explained that his AEW departure wasn’t caused by any disputes or frustrations and that he simply left because he wanted to contribute more.

The Chairman recently appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast. He discussed things such as his classic ‘stan’ segment with Shawn Michaels, returning to WWE, his friendship with Cody Rhodes and more.

While talking about his departure from Tony Khan’s promotion in January this year, the former AEW star explained that he wanted to contribute a little bit more both on camera and behind the scene:

“I think it just came down to a personal want, in terms of wanting to contribute a little bit more, both in front of the camera and behind the camera. I had a wonderful time in AEW.

I have and have had a great relationship with Tony Khan. You’re never going to hear me say anything bad about that guy. Same thing with a lot of EVPs, talent, everything. I had a wonderful time.”

My Time There Was Special: Shawn Spears

Shawn Spears mentioned that his time in AEW helped him become a better businessman. He learned things like having faith in your own ability and putting your foot down when needed:

“My time there was special, getting to work with all the top guys based on a lot of storylines that I was in with Max and FTR and things like that. So a lot of things that I would have never gotten to do, I think in my career, I was very fortunate enough to do there.”

While Spears didn’t win any titles during his four years with All Elite Wrestling, the wrestling veteran shared the ring with the likes of Cody Rhodes, MJF, Chris Jericho, and many more.

The 43-year-old made his return to the NXT brand in February this year. He has been a featured star on the brand ever since and has competed in many high-profile matches.

Janel Grant’s Laywer – Netflix’s McMahon Doc Only Scratches The Surface Of His Criminal Behavior

0

Netflix’s Mr. McMahon docuseries has finally been released on the streaming juggernaut, four years after the project was first announced. The six-part series delves into some of McMahon’s most controversial moments, though critics feel it fails to reveal anything that hasn’t already been covered.

One name fans don’t see over the six, one-hour long episodes is Janel Grant whose lawsuit alleging sexual abuse and trafficking resulted in McMahon’s WWE exit in January this year. In a statement shared with Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Grant’s lawyer Ann Callid argued that Netflix’s docuseries has shown McMahon’s true colors.

“The ‘Mr. McMahon’ docuseries makes it clear there is no difference between Vince McMahon’s on-air persona and his true self, they are one and the same. His “character” – known for violent outbursts, sexual deviance, and manipulation – is the real Vince McMahon and exactly what Janel Grant experienced behind closed doors at WWE for years.”

Callis adds that the the series only scratches the surface of McMahon’s alleged criminal activities, and is hopeful for Grant to have her own chance to tell her story her way.

“While the docuseries put McMahon’s obsession with power and control on full display, it only scratches the surface of his criminal behavior and it fails to tell the full story of his abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking of Ms. Grant. She deserves the opportunity to tell her story, on her own time, and in her own way. We look forward to her day in court and to seeing McMahon at last held accountable for his actions.”

Grant’s comments echo her previous statement, released before Mr. McMahon launched on Netflix, in which she addressed McMahon insisting that what happened with Grant was a consensual affair. The interviews conducted with McMahon took place before Grant’s lawsuit went public, and as a title card in the doc states, McMahon refused to take more questions after that.

In a rare public statement of his own, McMahon has distanced himself from the project, claiming he was misrepresented by selected editing, outdated soundbites, and out-of-context footage. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Netflix’s docuseries which is proving to be a huge topic of discussion in the world of wrestling.

Drew McIntyre Taunts CM Punk’s Dog Larry With Futurama’s Saddest Scene

0

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk have held nothing back in their feud that has proven to be a highlight of WWE Television in 2024. Just days ahead of their collision at WWE Bad Blood, McIntyre has now taken aim at Punk’s dog Larry with an infamous moment from the hit animated show Futurama.

On his Instagram Stories, Punk shared a video of his popular pooch in the ring with fans in the comments sharing their love for Larry. On Twitter though, McIntyre gave a ‘spoiler’ of Larry’s fate after WWE Bad Blood, comparing the dog to Seymour from Futurama.

For those not initiated with the animated series, Seymour is the beloved pet of protagonist Phillip J. Fry, who is accidentally cryogenically frozen for 1,000 years. McIntyre’s clip shows Seymour waiting in vain for Fry to come home, a fate that McIntyre wants to inflict upon Larry when he faces CM Punk inside Hell in a Cell next month. This isn’t even McIntyre’s first dig at Larry as he referred to him as a “stupid-looking dog” during a June 2024 edition of WWE Raw.

Though he’s yet to join CM Punk on TV, Larry has proven to be a hit with fans, with WWE releasing merch for the dog in a historic first. Larry, named after The Wolfman Larry Talbot, has also been immortalized as an action figure as he and Punk are part of a new line of wrestling figures created by Zombie Sailor’s Toys as part of their Heels and Faces line.

0

AEW presented an eventful episode of Dynamite: Grand Slam this Wednesday featuring the surprise debut of a former WWE star among other things. The company also taped Saturday’s Collision on the same night.

Apart from this, the night also featured a match between Jon Moxley and Darby Allin with WrestleDream implications. You can check out the result of the bout here.

Big E Remains Hopeful He Will Wrestle Again

0

Big E has not wrestled a match since March 2022 due to his neck injury but he is still hopeful about potentially making an in-ring return somewhere down the line.

The former WWE Champion recently had a conversation with Sports Talk Philly where he discussed things such as his partnership with Pancheros, the recent troubles of the New Day, the success of The Rock and more.

During the talk, E was asked if there has been any improvement in his status since his injury. The wrestling veteran explained that it’s hard to judge because he doesn’t face any trouble in his day-to-day life. He went on to reveal that he underwent stem cell therapy about three months ago:

“I did go down to a beautiful place called RejuvStem in Cancun, and got some stem cells, so we’ll see. That was about three months ago, so we’ll see how that looks and if there’s any progress there.”

We’ll Sit And Talk About It: Big E

Big E mentioned how he has things going on outside the wrestling world as well and he’ll be content if he is never able to wrestle again. Though he has not lost hope for a comeback either and he continues to be in touch with doctors who monitor his status:

“I get scans again in another three-to-six months, and if they look great and the doctors say it’s healthy for me to go back, then that’s something where we’ll sit down and talk about it.”

The New Day star broke his neck while wrestling in a tag team match on the March 11, 2022 episode of SmackDown. He has continued his relationship with WWE in a non-wrestling capacity, making appearances at PPVs and other big events as part of the pre-show panels.

Jon Moxley Beats Darby Allin, Will Face Bryan Danielson At AEW WrestleDream

0

AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson will put the gold on the line against Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream following Moxley’s victory on AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite. While Moxley has punched his ticket to potentially regaining the richest prize in All Elite Wrestling, the three-time former champion had little time to celebrate.

After the match, Danielson launched a surprise attack on his former ally, payback for the assault the champion endured at AEW All Out 2024 earlier this month. Danielson even choked Moxley with a necktie, not only delivering payback, but giving fans a nod to his 2010 WWE firing for choking Justin Roberts during the debut of the Nexus. Grabbing the mic, Danielson confirmed that he and Moxley would clash for the AEW World Championship at AEW WrestleDream.

Moxley’s title opportunity comes at the expense of Darby Allin, who had earned a title opportunity by winning the Royal Rampage back in July. There had reportedly been talks of Allin receiving a World Championship run, and whether that’s still the plan or not, it certainly won’t come to fruition at WrestleDream.

AEW WrestleDream will take place on October 12, in Tacoma, Washington, the home state of the American Dragon. With Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir on his side, Moxley will have the numbers advantage, even if Danielson has the crowd on his side. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on this feud as the two former allies prepare to tear each other apart next month at AEW WrestleDream.

WWE Star Angelo Dawkins Welcomes Second Child

0

WWE Superstar Angelo Dawkins has welcomed his second child into the world.

The former Tag Team Champion took on his Twitter earlier on Wednesday. He announced the birth of his second child with some photos and the caption addressing him as ‘lil homie 2’:

The 34-year-old got married to his partner Grace in a private ceremony earlier this year in June. Dawkins’ tag team partner Montez Ford actually officiated the wedding. The couple already have one son.

The Street Profits In WWE

Despite many people wanting them to break up, the Street Profits have remained a tag team in WWE since they were first put together in NXT in 2016.

They had a successful run at the development brand which included a reign with the NXT Tag Team Championships. The duo of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford were called up to the main roster in 2019.

The Street Profits have since won both the Raw and SmackDown tag team titles. The latter made them the second triple crown tag champions in the history of WWE.

Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley recruited them in his new stable called The Pride last year. This marked the first time the two had turned heel in WWE.

The faction disbanded however after WWE pulled Lashley off TV and then chose not to renew his contract. The Profits have since returned to being faces and they have been feuding with DIY and The Bloodline over the WWE tag team championships.

MVP Makes AEW Debut At Grand Slam: Dynamite, Plans To Manage Top Star

0

AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite saw some of the very top names of the All-Elite promotion in action, including Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, The Young Bucks, and Mariah May. The show also saw a huge debut unfold in New York City as MVP has arrived in AEW.

An interview segment began with Tony Schiavone asking Prince Nana for an update on Swerve Strickland’s medical status following the brutality of All Out 2024. Nana confirmed that Strickland is not currently cleared to compete but is working toward his return.

It was then that MVP interrupted things, making his AEW debut after parting ways with WWE earlier this year. MVP criticized Nana’s management of Strickland, accusing him of focusing more on dancing and selling coffee than on advancing Strickland’s career. MVP handed Nana a business card, instructing him to pass it on to Strickland whenever the former AEW World Champion wants to “get serious” and “talk business.”

What’s to Come?

MVP has arrived in AEW, but the question is whether he’ll bring in some more WWE alum. MVP reportedly intends to reunite with Bobby Lashley and there had been talk of both men coming to AEW before MVP’s debut this week. Lashley and MVP reportedly intend to revive the Hurt Business alongside Shelton Benjamin, who was released from WWE last September.

With the Hurt Business name under the ownership of WWE, MVP has filed a trademark for ‘The Hurt Syndicate’ and recently told a fan that the Hurt Business is “dead” but he is still in business. Now, MVP’s business has brought him to AEW. Stay tuned to see what’s to come for MVP and whether he will be able to coax Swerve Strickland into taking on his managerial services.

HOOK Retires The FTW Championship At AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite

0

At AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite, HOOK defended the FTW Championship against Roderick Strong, proving his skills against the veteran wrestler. Little did fans know going into this match that this would be the final FTW Championship match in the title’s illustrious history.

After the match, HOOK shared an embrace with Strong before joining Tony Schiavone at ringside to make a stunning announcement: he was retiring the FTW Championship. HOOK handed the title to his father Taz, declaring “This is yours” in a moment that brought tears to the eyes of the Human Suplex Machine/commentator.

On Twitter, Tony Khan shared his appreciation for Taz, the rightful owner of the FTW Championship.

The FTW Title In AEW

While first introduced in ECW by Taz in 1998, it wouldn’t be until 2020 that the gold debuted in AEW. Five men held the title during its All-Elite run, with Ricky Starks boasting the longest reign at 378 days. HOOK holds the record for the most combined days, as his three reigns saw him hold the gold for a total of 627 days.

With the FTW Championship now officially retired, HOOK’s emotional tribute to his father marks the end of an era. It also raises the question as to what’s next for HOOK and whether he is ready to set his sights on AEW’s sanctioned titles. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on HOOK as he starts a new chapter in his career, one without the FTW Championship around his waist.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Joins List of Athletes Skeptical of CTE

0

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has sparked controversy with his recent comments dismissing the existence of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). The legendary wrestler, known for his hard-hitting style and numerous championships, stated that he is “not a CTE guy” and does not believe in the condition.

In a recent interview on the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary, Austin expressed his skepticism about CTE, a progressive and fatal brain disease associated with repeated head trauma. He suggested that wrestlers who suffer multiple concussions are, “probably doing something wrong.”

This stance has raised eyebrows in the wrestling community and beyond, given the growing body of scientific evidence supporting the existence and dangers of CTE.

Not a CTE Guy
Steve Austin declares, “I just don’t believe in [Chronic traumatic encephalopathy]” in the Netflix docuseries, Mr. McMahon

Austin’s Wrestling Career and Concussion History

Steve Austin’s wrestling career spanned from 1989 to 2003, during which he became one of the most popular and influential figures in professional wrestling. Throughout his career, Austin was known for his physical style and high-impact moves, which likely exposed him to numerous head impacts.

While the exact number of concussions Austin suffered during his career is not publicly documented, he does admit to getting getting dropped on his head and concussed once in his career on the Mr. McMahon documentary.

Other Athletes Skeptical of CTE

While Steve Austin’s comments about CTE have garnered significant attention, he is not the only athlete to express skepticism about the condition. Some other notable athletes who have questioned or downplayed the existence or severity of CTE include:

NFL Players

Brett Favre: The former Green Bay Packers quarterback has expressed doubts about the link between football and CTE. In 2018, Favre suggested that the media had exaggerated the risks of playing football.

Merril Hoge: A former NFL running back, Hoge co-authored a book titled “Brainwashed: The Bad Science Behind CTE and the Plot to Destroy Football.” He has argued that the evidence linking football to CTE is overstated.

NHL Players

Gary Bettman: While not a player himself, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has consistently downplayed the link between hockey and CTE. He has stated that there is not enough scientific evidence to establish a causal relationship between hockey and the disease.

Boxers

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: The undefeated boxing champion has dismissed concerns about CTE in boxing, stating that he’s never had any issues despite his long career in the sport

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated head injuries. It has been found in the brains of athletes who participated in contact sports, as well as military veterans and others exposed to repetitive brain trauma.

Symptoms and Diagnosis

CTE can cause a range of symptoms, including:

  • Memory loss
  • Confusion
  • Impaired judgment
  • Impulse control problems
  • Aggression
  • Depression
  • Suicidal thoughts

Currently, CTE can only be definitively diagnosed through post-mortem examination of the brain. However, researchers are working on developing methods for diagnosing CTE in living individuals.

Athletes Supporting CTE Research

Many former athletes have become advocates for CTE awareness and research. Some notable examples include:

  • Chris Nowinski: Former WWE wrestler and co-founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation
  • Junior Seau: NFL linebacker who was posthumously diagnosed with CTE
  • Dave Mirra: BMX rider who was the first action sports athlete diagnosed with CTE

These athletes and others have helped raise awareness about the potential long-term effects of repeated head trauma in sports.

The Impact of Austin’s Comments

Austin’s comments have sparked debate within the wrestling fanbase and beyond. Many fans and fellow wrestlers have expressed disappointment in his stance, given the growing body of evidence supporting the existence of CTE and its impact on athletes.

The Importance of Athlete Safety

While Austin’s opinion may be influenced by his personal experiences, it’s crucial to consider the broader implications of such statements.

Professional wrestling, like many contact sports, carries inherent risks of head injuries. Acknowledging these risks and taking steps to mitigate them is essential for protecting current and future athletes.

When Heroes Disappoint: The Perils of Knowing Too Much

Austin’s comments serve as a reminder that sometimes learning about the personal beliefs of childhood heroes can be disappointing. Many fans who grew up idolizing “Stone Cold” Steve Austin may find themselves conflicted by his stance on CTE.

This situation highlights the importance of separating an athlete’s on-screen persona from their personal beliefs and opinions. It’s a valuable lesson in critical thinking and the need to form our own opinions based on scientific evidence rather than solely relying on the views of public figures we admire.
