Will Ospreay tells the story of his All In entrance.
The new AEW World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for an interview. He talked about things such as how much pain he was in before his neck injury, getting advice from Adam Copeland, the match with Kenny Omega, and more.
The high-flying star was also asked about how he came up with his iconic All In entrance. Will Ospreay credited AEW producer Mike Mansury for helping develop the idea before revealing that he first thought about it at the Forbidden Door PPV last year. The 33-year-old admitted to being afraid going into the Lights Out Steel Cage main event of the show, until he heard the voiceover done by his wife Alex Windsor for his entrance:
My whole thing was I remember last year at Forbidden Door when I went in the steel cage match, and I was trying to think of a real cool entrance for that. I was just like, I’d love it if I could do something there. But I had no idea that Al [Alex Windsor] put down a voiceover for that entrance.
It stuck with me because it was scary going into a steel cage match, knowing that I needed neck surgery, and I was just so worried. I kept a real straight face with people, and I was confident in a lot of the things that I was doing in there, but then hearing Al’s voice come through- the line that got me was, ‘If you’re not afraid of what’s next, neither am I.’ It hit me so hard. It made me just feel like I could run through a wall.

I Want My Mum To Do The Next One: Will Ospreay
Will Ospreay then spoke to his mom about doing a similar voiceover while they were in Orlando and she started preparing it right away. The AEW Champion noted that he had told his mom that he did not want to know what she was writing until the day of the show. Ospreay revealed that his mom worked in theatre, so he had to tell her to rein things in a little bit and make it more like she was talking to her son directly instead of addressing a town hall when he first heard it. But in the end, it turned out to be perfect:
Then to have that feeling, I was just kind of like, I want my mum to do my next one, just because my mum has seen me grow up through a TV screen. When I was 22 years old, I got signed to New Japan, and although I kept coming back to England, and I get those tours, but a lot of it was like downtime and rest because I was so battered and hurt. I think it was just one of these things where I’d love to show my mum how much she really meant to me, and I’d love to have had her do the voiceover for one of the biggest nights of my life.
The former IWGP World Champion also revealed that he originally wanted to use a different song for the part where he walks past all his past opponents and friends, but they couldn’t secure the rights for it. Though Ospreay did not reveal what song it was in hopes that they will be able to use it for a future entrance.
