Sasha Banks and Naomi Added Back to WWE Signature Intro Video

0

Another indication that Sasha Banks and Naomi are on their way back to WWE was shown during Saturday’s Crown Jewel premium live event.

There was a change made to the signature video that kicks off all WWE shows, as they are included in the intro. If you blinked, you might have missed it, but many fans on social media were quick to point it out right away, just as Crown Jewel was about to start.

The Rumors

This only adds fuel to the rumors that Banks and Naomi are returning soon after it was reported by WrestlingNews.co in August that an agreement was reached for both women to return.

Several media outlets later reported that there were “hang-ups” in the talks between the company and the two stars. Banks is still under a WWE deal, but they were working on another contract because the current one was due to expire soon.

On Friday, Banks posted a cryptic video that teased something “crazy” happening soon after waiting for it over the past six months.

Banks and Naomi walked out of a WWE Raw event in May due to creative differences, as WWE wanted Naomi to win a six-pack challenge on the show.

Bobby Lashley Explains Attack On Brock Lesnar After Crown Jewel Match

0

Bobby Lashley went into the match against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel as a babyface but things changed at the show. The All Mighty attacked The Beast Incarnate after a controversial finish to the match, leaving fans surprised. It appears that even Lashley himself is not sure why he did it.

Vic Joseph tried to get some answers from Lashley after the bout in a digital exclusive interview. He asked about the attack on the former Universal Champion. Replying to it, Bobby explained that it was the match he was supposed to win and he doesn’t know what he will do now:

“Why did I attack him? Cause I was ready to go to war. I was ready to die out there. There is not a tomorrow for me. There is not a day after tomorrow. There is a now.” said Bobby Lashley, “That was the biggest challenge that I had, was beating Brock. That’s what people had been talking about for years and I went out there and failed.

That’s what you wanna hear? That’s what you want me to tell you? I failed. That’s what happened, I failed. So back to the drawing board, or what? Quit? Give up? What do I do? That was the task. That was the match that I was supposed to win. And then now what?”

The ending of the bout suggests that we haven’t seen the last of Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar. Though if the post-match interview is any indication, we might see the roles being reversed when these two go up against each other the next time.

Dakota Kai and IYO SKY Win WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

0

Dakota Kai and IYO SKY are once again the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions as they dethroned Alexa Bliss and Asuka.

The title change happened at the WWE Crown Jewel premium live event from Saudi Arabia. This was a rematch that saw Kai and SKY dominate the major of the match until Bliss got the hot tag and cleared house.

It looked like Bliss was on her way to retaining the titles, but Nikki Cross appeared from nowhere to hit a DDT from the top rope to Bliss, allowing Kai to pin her for the win. The referee didn’t see the outside interference because the referee was busy dealing with a brawl between Asuka and SKY.

The First Title Change

Bliss and Asuka won the titles during this week’s Raw, in what was Asuka’s first televised match in close to two months. It marked an important milestone for Asuka and Bliss as it was both women’s third reign as Tag Champions (albeit with different partners) and the third partner for Asuka, who previously held gold with KAIRI and Charlotte Flair.

Kai and SKY were champions for 49 days before the title change happened on Monday’s Raw.

What are your thoughts on Kai and SKY winning back the Women’s Tag Team Titles? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

Brock Lesnar Beats Bobby Lashley at WWE Crown Jewel

0

Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley squared off in the ring for the second time only in their careers.

The match was booked at the WWE Crown Jewel premium live event from Saudi Arabia. It opened the show and saw Lashley jump from behind. Lashley speared him through the barricade.

Lesnar with some german suplexes and even a near fall for an F5. It was mostly dominated by Lashley, who had him in The Hurt Lock submission hold, but Lesnar pushed off the turnbuckle and landed on Lashley for the pinfall win.

Post-match, Lashley attacked Lesnar and put him in The Hurt Lock again.

Their first match took place at the Royal Rumble in January, where Lashley beat “The Beast” for the WWE Title.

However, Lashley lost the title at the Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia in February but was never pinned or submitted as WWE did an injury angle to get Lashley out of the match as he was dealing with a shoulder injury. Lesnar ended up winning the match and the title before losing it to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38 in a winner take all match.

Although Lashley previously called out Lesnar for a match at WrestleMania 39, the company decided to book the match at this event.

WWE set up the match in early October when he appeared on WWE TV for the first time since SummerSlam where he lost to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, where he attacked Lesnar.

Lesnar later appeared on Monday Night Raw, only for Lashley to call him out and they brawled, with Lashley gaining the upper hand after spearing Lesnar through a ringside barricade. They have eventually pulled apart after Lashley put Lesnar through the announcer’s table.

Otis Celebrates Reading First Book Cover-to-Cover After Lifelong Battle with Dyslexia

0

WWE Superstar Otis has opened up about his lengthy battle with dyslexia after reading his first book front to back.

Otis appears on Monday Night Raw as part of Alpha Academy with Chad Gable, and the duo are former Raw Tag Team Champions.

Before turning heel, Otis teamed with Tucker in Heavy Machinery and is a former Mr. Money in the Bank, but lost the contract to The Miz before he had the chance to cash in.

Reading Pet Sematary

Taking to Twitter, Otis shared the news that he recently finished reading Stephen King’s 1983 horror classic Pet Sematary.

Otis explained that he has dealt with Dyslexia since elementary school, and WWE had approached him a year ago about getting into a reading class.

The Raw Superstar also praised his teacher Kimmy Swedberg, who chose Pet Sematary as Otis is a fan of horror, and was terrified by the 1989 film adaptation as a child.

Otis called Swedberg the “Best instructor and teacher” and gave a review of the book, and is already planning his next read, King’s 1977 classic The Shining.

Dyslexia

According to recent research, it is believed 15% of people deal with some form of dyslexia, equating to over 30 million people in the United States alone.

Otis isn’t alone in his battle with dyslexia, as several wrestlers have come forward with their own struggles.

In an August 2019 interview, CJ (Lana) Perry said she learned of her dyslexia in college, and Diamond Dallas Page told Lilian Garcia on the Chasing Glory podcast that he had to deal with dyslexia at a time when nobody knew what it was.

AEW’s Mark Henry has said he was moved to a different school because he was an undiagnosed dyslexic.

Chris Jericho to Defend ROH Championship at AEW Full Gear in a 4-Way Match

0

AEW has booked a 4-Way match at Full Gear on November 19th for the ROH Championship.

Chris Jericho will put the ROH Championship on the line against Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, and Sammy Guevara.

Danielson battled Chris Jericho for the ROH Championship on a recent episode of Dynamite. Chris Jericho picked up the victory after Daniel Garcia betrayed him and re-joined the Jericho Appreciation Society. Jericho defeated Castagnoli at Dynamite: Grand Slam to become ROH Champion.

On this week’s edition of AEW Rampage, William Regal, Claudio Castagnoli, and Bryan Danielson cut a backstage promo on Chris Jericho. They both wanted a title shot, Claudio wanted to battle Jericho because he was attacking ROH announcers. Danielson spoke about his ROH legacy and wanted one more shot against Jericho. William Regal ended the promo by telling Jericho to choose his opponent at the PPV on November 19th.

Later on Rampage, Chris Jericho said he will face them both at Full Gear along with Sammy Guevara in a 4-Way. The ROH Champion said that the Blackpool Combat Club members will wind up picking each other apart, and added that he knows Sammy will do “the right thing” in the match.

Now William Regal with his amazing General Manager experience is going to tell me which match I have to choose for my next Ring of Honor World Championship defense. A less honorable man would say neither.

But The Ocho, the Ring of Jericho Champion, what if I said both? Sounds crazy, right Tony? Is it really though? Because I don’t think the Blackpool Combat Club really like each other.

Another match announced for AEW Full Gear is the finals of the World Title Eliminator tournament. The winner of the tournament will earn a shot at the AEW World Championship. Ricky Starks announced that he will be in the tournament on this week’s episode of Rampage. Ethan Page and Eddie Kingston will battle Wednesday on Dynamite in the first round.

Madison dodged the Stomp and hit Britt with an Enziguri. Hayter leveled Madison with a giant Clothesline for the pinfall victory. Toni Storm will defend the AEW Interim Women’s Championship against Jamie Hayter at AEW Full Gear.

After the match, the heels attacked and called out Toni Storm. Toni bashed Rebel in the face and launched Britt into the barricade. She then traded punches with Hayter before tackling her to the canvas. Storm applied a Texas Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring but Baker broke it up by bashing Toni in the face with the AEW Interim Women’s Championship. Hayter then posed with the title to end the segment.

Ricky posed for the crowd to end the promo.

WarJoe def. Gates of Agony, Powerhouse Hobbs Sent a Message to Wardlow

Gates of Agony (Kaun & Toa Liona) battled Samoa Joe and Wardlow in the main event of tonight’s episode of Rampage.

Mark Henry interviewed both teams before the match in split screen. Prince Nana accompanied Gates of Agony to the ring for the main event.

The Honorary Uce has never competed at a WWE event in Saudi Arabia and will not be at Crown Jewel tomorrow. Dave Meltzer reported in 2019 that the Saudi government had prohibited Sami from appearing at the shows because of his Syrian ethnicity.

During today’s press conference, the crowd loudly chanted “we want Sami!” several times. The Tribal Chief grabbed the microphone and told the crowd that they do not deserve the Honoracy Uce.

After how you’ve acted tonight, you don’t deserve Sami.

Sami posted the clip on Twitter with the caption “ICE COLD MY DAWG”.

The Tribal Chief recently spoke with ESPN ahead of his title match against Logan Paul at Crown Jewel tomorrow. Roman praised his opponent for catching on so quickly in WWE.

Roman Reigns Praises Logan Paul Before Title Match at WWE Crown Jewel: “It’s Very Encouraging”

Roman Reigns has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for 794 days now and is the heavy favorite to win at WWE Crown Jewel.

He will defend the title this Saturday against Logan Paul at the premium live event. The 27-year-old will be competing in just the third match of his career. Logan has been impressive thus far but the odds are stacked against him this Saturday at WWE Crown Jewel.

Logan sent a message to Roman and The Bloodline by knocking out Jey Uso with one punch on a recent edition of SmackDown. The Miz approached the Head of the Table this past Monday on RAW and suggested an alliance between the two because he was Logan’s tag partner at WrestleMania and knows how to beat him. Reigns sent a message back to Logan by knocking out The Miz with a Superman Punch.

Roman Reigns Compliments Logan Paul Ahead of WWE Crown Jewel

ESPN recently published a story about Logan Paul’s journey to becoming a WWE Superstar and featured quotes from Triple H, Shane Helms, The Miz, and Roman Reigns.

Speaking with ESPN, the Head of the Table complimented Logan Paul ahead of their title match this Saturday at WWE Crown Jewel.

When you know how tough this performance is and when you see somebody who can catch on as quickly as he has, it’s very encouraging, especially with someone who has such a following.

When you’re dealing with someone like a Logan Paul, someone who garners so much attention and has so much buzz, you’re not gonna hurt yourself dealing with someone and doing business with someone like that.

The 37-year-old added that he’s not concerned with any criticism leading into the main event this Saturday.

I know I’m gonna have to dictate some things [with Paul] ’cause of my knowledge and experience to that particular setting.

It’s just something that you get used to. John [Cena] did it, Steve [Austin] did it. Dwayne [“The Rock” Johnson] did it, Hulk [Hogan] did it. We all do it.

And that’s just a part of building that equity and taking on that role as the guy.

Keith Elliot Greenberg Tackles COVID-19 Era in ‘Follow the Buzzards’ Book

0

The stage was set for 2020 to be among the best years in pro wrestling history.  Keith Elliot Greenberg had all the intentions of writing the follow-up “Too Sweet: Inside the Indie Wrestling Revolution.” And then, COVID happened.

The best-selling author changed course, chronicling unprecedented times inside and outside the ring with, Follow the Buzzards: Pro Wrestling in the Age of COVID-19 from ECW Press.

“This is more of a legacy book than a book in the moment,” the New Yorker explained. “I understand how people now might not want to relive the ‘COVID Age.’…I do think you read things like the books about the death of WCW where it almost has more resonance now than it did at the time.

He continued: When [last book] was completed I thought it called for a sequel because it ended with the first broadcast of AEW Dynamite. There were a lot of loose ends like what happened to indie wrestling now there is this promotion that has acquired a lot of the indie wrestlers. Then COVID hit so I said, ‘“I think this has to be a COVD book.’”

Much like all his work, he took a deep dive and immersed himself. Not only on the pro wrestling side but what was happening in politics and society as a whole. He likened his approach to that of Jonathan Mahler’s “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx is Burning.” More than a baseball book about the Yankees, it’s in essence a time capsule back to 1977 with the Son of Sam and the New York blackout.

“I think in the time of COVID you really couldn’t distinguish what was going on in professional wrestling from what was going on in the real world,” Greenberg said. “Here you have matches in empty arenas so you can’t pretend COVID isn’t there. You have the George Floyd case, and you have certain wrestlers come to the ring with Black Lives Matter singlets or armbands. You have to acknowledge how the outside world is affecting professional wrestling.”

The show must go on has always been a mantra followed by this unique form of sports and entertainment. That reigned true even as the world shut down, owners and promoters put their innovative minds to work. We saw the ThunderDome, Stadium Stampedes, unorthodox venues, and everything in between to keep the proverbial lights on and give people regular shows to watch while sheltering in place.

“We also had indie wrestlers with limited budgets who were improvising as well,” Greenberg said. “I remember being in Indiana during an afternoon show in the park and everyone was spread out and socially distanced. I asked promoter Brett Lauderdale of Game Changer Wrestling, ‘Why are you doing this in the afternoon.’ He said, ‘So I can save money on lighting.’ Honestly, there were wrestlers who needed to wrestle. Their constitution called for it. There were fans who needed to watch wrestling and see it live.”

The book also does a great job of painting the picture of what was happening outside the United States. Greenberg adds that “When you see this Finnish promotion use COVID as an opportunity to expand into Estonia. That’s none of us in the U.S. or very few of us would have known. I wanted to have that all in there because I want people to walk into a library and open this book and say, “This is a snapshot of history.”

The writer took feedback from his last book and made a conscious effort to focus more on women’s wrestling. Despite all the steps forward, the “Speaking Out” called for more changes that needed to be made.

“You had wrestlers being called out for sexual impropriety,” Greenberg said. “I work as a TV producer and cover the true crime. I thought, ‘How would I handle this if I were covering it, and it was not a wrestling story? This is bigger than wrestling.’ When I’ve done stories about sexual abuse don’t name the actor because you don’t want people tracking down that accuser and calling her a liar and terrorizing her. That’s how I treated the speaking-out accusers.

He continues: “I wasn’t going to put their names in the book….I confined the stories I told to the males who vigorously defended themselves in a public way. David Starr, Joey Ryan, Marty Scrull, and Matt Riddle. Those are the folks who were very public about defending themselves. Some people say I spent too much time on the defense, but that was out in public. So, I’m not embarrassed or second-guessing it. This is the beginning of a dialogue. It’s in the book. If you don’t like the way I handled it, let’s continue this dialogue. Sexual abuse has been in society and professional wrestling for a long time. Like racism, let’s figure out ways to make things better.”

If you’re a fan of this book and want more, Greenberg has returned to his magazine writing roots as a regular columnist for Inside the Ropes. At the same time don’t expect another book from him right away.

“So much is happening right now, and so much will happen,” he said. “I don’t even know where to begin. So right now I’m sitting back and waiting to see what happens in professional wrestling. There will be another book, but I might not start writing it for another two years. I’m still waiting to see what the trends are and the lessons are.”

Triple H on Logan Paul Proving Doubters Wrong Ahead of WWE Crown Jewel: “He’s Done That, Right?”

0

Logan Paul is scheduled to battle Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship this Saturday at Crown Jewel.

Roman Reigns is quickly approaching 800 days as champion, while Logan is about to wrestle the third match of his career. The 27-year-old recently knocked out Jey Uso on an episode of SmackDown and will look to do the same to the Tribal Chief at the premium live event.

It was reported earlier today that Jake Paul will accompany his brother to the ring for the title match.

Triple H on Logan Paul Proving Doubters Wrong Ahead of WWE Crown Jewel

WWE Chief Content Officer has been impressed with Logan Paul thus far in his wrestling career. The popular YouTuber teamed up with The Miz as this year’s WrestleMania to defeat Dominik and Rey Mysterio.

The A-Lister betrayed Logan after the match and planted him with a Skull Crushing Finale. Paul got his revenge and defeated The Miz at SummerSlam and now has been given a shot at the title.

Speaking with ESPN, Triple H said that Logan Paul has already proven his doubters wrong simply by the fact that he’s booked in the main event of WWE Crown Jewel.

I wouldn’t put him in the main event of a massive international event that’s gonna have 60, 70 thousand people there or whatever if I thought he couldn’t handle it, and certainly, he had to prove that to me.

He had to prove that to everybody. He had to prove that to the world, right? To everybody on this team. He’s done that, right?

Triple H added that Logan being in the title match is thinking long-term and is better for everyone in the company.

If you look at it and you say, ‘Well, Logan Paul gets that opportunity, I don’t get that opportunity,’ you have very small, myopic thinking.

When Logan gets this opportunity, eventually he goes away or whatever. He is creating bigger opportunities for others. … It’s the bigger-picture thinking.

I understand why people think that way ’cause your concern is your career. But the truth is in the overall picture, this is better for everybody.

Shane Helms has been training Logan and referred to him as a “coach’s dream”.

“That’s a coach’s dream. Somebody that doesn’t give you an attitude and they’re able to take what you give them and make it their own.”

WWE is Bringing Back Another Former Star

0

WWE has an interest in bringing back yet another wrestler as Triple H continues to look to shape the women’s division in his own way.

Fightful Select reported today that WWE is interested in bringing Mia Yim back to the company. The report noted that while there’s no word yet on a potential start date, she’s expected to be brought back soon.

WWE taped tonight’s SmackDown a week ago so that it won’t be then and not likely in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, but Monday’s Raw or next week’s SmackDown is possible.

Mia Yim’s Journey

Mia Yim

WWE released Yim in November 2021 after a run on WWE Raw as Reckoning, and in between, being swapped between brands without appearing anywhere. Yim didn’t wrestle any matches for 15 months while being sidelined by WWE and having her non-compete run out.

When she could wrestle again once her non-compete clause expired, she spent five months with Impact Wrestling before wrapping up with the company after their set of Bound For Glory tapings last month.

Fightful was told that WWE was aware that her agreement with Impact was coming up and had an interest in anticipation of it. WWE brought Emma (Tenille Dashwood) back to the company after years of being away last week.

Steve Austin Open to Wrestling Again Following WWE WrestleMania 38 Match?

0

Steve Austin had his first match since 2003 at WrestleMania this year, closing night one against Kevin Owens in his home state of Texas.

Many thought that this WrestleMania 38 bout was the end of Austin’s career, although that may not be the case.

Steve Austin Open to Wrestle Again

Austin WrestleMania

While speaking with GiveMeSport’s Louis Dangoor, WrestleVotes noted that Austin was so elated with how things went in his WrestleMania 38 that the belief is he’d be open to doing it again.

“I know he had a wonderful time doing it last year in Dallas. He was happy. He was elated. Let’s say that the performance of the match, everything went so well, and people loved it so much, So I know he was thrilled to post WrestleMania. And I’d say he was open to doing it again.”

It should be noted that WrestleVotes did explain that they hadn’t heard that Austin will be involved at WrestleMania 39 next year or if he will be wrestling, but this is just the feeling that Austin would be open to the idea.

Austin, one of the biggest stars in the history of the wrestling business, had not wrestled in 19 years as he decided to retire due to neck problems. That match came against The Rock at WrestleMania 19 in 2003.

R-Truth May Have Suffered a Serious Injury During WWE NXT Match

0

R-Truth could be set for a significant stint on the shelf after the fan-favorite star was in action on Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT when he faced Grayson Waller in the show’s opening match.

Truth suffered an injury after he went for a Flip Dive over the top rope but didn’t clear it as his knee hit the rope. R-Truth was helped backstage by WWE’s medical team after WWE cut a commercial break, and Waller was declared the winner.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it is believed Truth suffered a quadriceps tear, but that hasn’t been confirmed just yet. This would ultimately be a serious injury that will keep him out of action for several months.

This injury happened at a time when Truth had been featured more on TV by appearing on Monday Night Raw in a segment with Baron Corbin and JBL.

In addition to NXT and Raw, he has also been booked on Main Event in a new tag team with Shelton Benjamin by taking on Duke Hudson and Von Wagner. Unfortunately, though, Truth’s latest run on TV looks to be over.

Kevin Nash, Triple H, Vince McMahon, and others have all suffered quadriceps tears. In the cases of “The Game” and Nash, they were out of action for close to a year.

AEW Star Was Off TV Due to Non-Wrestling Issue

0

Ricky Starks has been added to the card for Friday’s AEW Rampage episode with the promise that fans will hear from him via a promo segment.

This was a notable addition to the lineup as Starks has notably been absent from television as of late, with his last televised appearance being on AEW Dynamite on September 28.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestler Observer Newsletter, the reasoning behind Starks’ absence from TV has been somewhat explained.

Where Has Starks Been?

Ricky Starks

Meltzer wrote, “Ricky Starks hasn’t been in the ring for a few weeks due to something not wrestling related but he’ll be back on the show for a promo this week.”

Although no other details were given, it does clear up any speculation of Starks being injured. His return tonight is a step in the right direction for fans of Starks who wish to see him return to in-ring action.

Starks’ most recent prominent feud was with former tag partner, Powerhouse Hobbs, as Hobbs defeated Starks during AEW All Out on September 4 before their rematch during the Grand Slam edition of AEW Rampage that was billed as a ‘lights out’ match where he defeated Hobbs with a Roshambo securing the pin.

Other things confirmed for Rampage include a dream match between Orange Cassidy and NJPW’s Katsuyori Shibata for the AEW All Atlantic championship.

Dr. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs., Madison Rayne & Skye Blue and more names for Full Gear Eliminator Tournament will be announced.

Matt Hardy Says The Elite Were ‘Victims’ in All Out Brawl

0

Over the last couple of weeks, during AEW programming there have been vignettes of The Elite being erased from programming. On this week’s episode of Dynamite, a hand was shown deleting files of The Elite and replacing them with files of Death Triangle. Questions started coming in asking if Matt Hardy was the one deleting the files. He did have a “Delete The Elite” shirt after all.

In the latest episode of “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy”, he and host Jon Alba were discussing the imminent return of The Elite. Hardy stated, “I’m very happy they’re back. I will say this right here, right now: those guys didn’t do anything wrong in that situation. I think they were the victims. I’m telling you from a first person perspective. I was there. I witnessed it all. I love all three of those guys. I’ve known Matt and Nick forever. I’ve just gotten to know Kenny while working with AEW. I am very happy they are returning to TV and they are back. They’re back in the mix. They deserve to be in the mix.”

Hardy provided this clarification in response to media coverage of his quotes about the events that transpired at All Out:

Matt Hardy believes The Elite are the “heart and soul of the AEW”

kenny omega young bucks

Hardy also said that he was excited for Colt Cabana’s return this past Wednesday. “Colt Cabana had been away from AEW for a very long time. It is what it is. You know, I don’t really have to sit here and go into things. We’re in a position where he can be back on AEW TV and I’m glad to have him back.”

With the investigation being over, Hardy said, “I’m glad their names have been cleared and they’re coming back to TV. And I’m very happy to see Colt Cabana who I think is a great human being and also a great performer. I’m very happy to see him back on AEW programming.”

Hardy saw the Young Bucks the day before recording his podcast. He says he told them that they “are the heart and soul of the AEW. I feel like The Elite — Matt and Nick and Kenny — in many ways the identity of AEW. You know, without those guys, you don’t have AEW as it is right now. It would be very, very different. Tony Khan may have started wrestling in some capacity. AEW, All Elite Wrestling, those guys are the identity of AEW. So it’s very important to have them back.”

“Full Gear” is just a couple weeks away, so it seems that The Elite will return then if they don’t came back sooner.

Jake Paul Will be in His Brother Logan’s Corner for WWE Crown Jewel 2022

0

Logan Paul will have the biggest match of his career this Saturday at Crown Jewel, but he won’t be going in alone.

At WWE’s latest Saudi Arabia show, Paul will face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the presumed main event of the night.

This will mark Paul’s third official match for WWE, after picking up victories at Wrestlemania and Summerslam.

In the Corner

Logan has proven to be an accomplished athlete but he isn’t the only fighter in the Paul family.

Jake Paul has had six professional boxing matches, his most recent being this past weekend against Anderson Silva.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed the younger Paul’s appearance at Crown Jewel. “

“Jake Paul is going to be there. Jake Paul in Logan Paul’s corner and The Usos in Roman Reigns’ corner, and Solo Sikoa.”

Dave Meltzer.

During the recent 2022 Q3 earnings call, Triple H teaed that both Paul brothers would be at Crown Jewel.

Update

At WWE’s Crown Jewel press conference, WWE used a graphic promoting the Logan Paul-Roman Reigns match, featuring Jake on the side of his brother.

During the press conference, Logan said that like Reigns, he too has a bloodline, and introduced Jake to the crowd in Riyadh.

Jake Paul: WWE Superstar?

Whether fans like it or not, Logan Paul is a contracted WWE Superstar, but will his brother follow in his footsteps?

Logan certainly believes so, as he recently told Ryan Satin that Jake in WWE will happen (via Bleacher Report.)

“Truthfully, I think it’s inevitable. I’m biased, but I think what we’re doing is incredibly exciting, at least for me, personally, it is incredibly exciting.

“If I were watching two brothers take over, and I use that word intentionally, take over two highly entertaining sports, boxing and wrestling in a way that has never been done before, my curiosity would be peaked.”

Jade Cargill: AEW’s Women can have Five-Star Matches if Given the Time

0

AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill is confident in the company’s women’s division but wishes they were given more time.

Cargill is the inaugural holder of the TBS Championship, a title she has held for over 300 days.

The 30-year-old wrestler debuted in AEW in November 2020 and has remained undefeated since then.

Give Us Time

AEW has received praise from fans for being an alternative to WWE programming, but one major issue with audiences is the company’s women’s division.

Many have said that the promotion does not give their female wrestlers enough opportunities, especially when compared to WWE’s Women’s Revolution.

Speaking to SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall, Cargill said she is sure the women would be able to deliver if given the chance.

“I know for a fact the women in the locker room, all of them can give five-star matches. We just need the time to do it and the time to shine. I mean, we have a very talented roster of ladies. It’s just, we have one match to show and we’re trying to do the best and perform and maximize the minutes that we’re given.”

When asked about the response from fans, and the accusation that AEW does not want to invest in their women’s division, Cargill said it wasn’t her place given how fresh she is to wrestling.

“I’m new to the industry so I’m gonna sit back and just watch how things are going. I haven’t worked in other industries. I mean, we’re going to keep on maximizing the time that we have and just trying to kill and prove that we are worthy of more time.”

AEW Evolution?

In 2018, WWE held their first (and to-date only) all-women’s event ‘Evolution,’ and NWA followed suit with their Empowerrr show in 2021.

Speaking about an all-female Pay-Per-View, Cargill was on board with the idea.

“The all-women’s pay-per-view, I think if that happened it would be a home run. There’d be matchups for the faces that haven’t been on Dynamite and Rampage or haven’t been on there in many months. It would be a great, stellar show. I’m very certain of that.

“Especially with not having to worry about fighting for positions or anything like that. It’s just an all-woman show and everybody has time. I think it’d be outstanding

Cargill was also asked about a dram-match created by fans that would pit her against WWE’s Sasha Banks.

“I have no idea [whether a match with Sasha Banks could happen.] Fans always want to create these fantasy matches that probably never happen. But I mean, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Let’s just say that with wrestling and how unpredictable wrestling is, you just never know.”

In addition to WWE and NWA, Impact Wrestling held several women’s events as part of their One Night Only series of shows, titled ‘Knockouts Knockdown.’

Dealing with Fans

Like many wrestlers, Cargill has had her fair share of toxic fans who use social media to troll and harass her.

The issue is unfortunately much more prevalent for female wrestlers, but Cargill hasn’t shied away from firing back with comments of her own.

When asked about dealing with toxic fans, Cargill said it’s important to have a thick skin, but people shouldn’t be shocked with a response.

“If you’re in this position you should be okay with taking criticism and taking people’s judgments and opinions about you. It’s just when you [fans] throw something, be able to take it back.

“This is what we do. This is our job. We’re entertainment and you can’t throw stuff at an entertainer and don’t think we’re not gonna spin it back.”

Cargill and other AEW stars recently called out a fan on Twitter for comments made about Marina Shafir.

Paul Heyman Wanted Logan Paul in WWE Years Ago

0

Logan Paul looks to do the impossible this weekend at WWE Crown Jewel. The social media influencer turned boxer turned wrestler challenges Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in less than 24 hours.

Paul has proven to be a natural inside squared circle. He possesses the winning formula of athleticism and charisma that has led countless performers to legendary status.

WWE signing Logan Paul to a multi-year contract in June 2022 seems like a stroke of genius. According to Paul Heyman, he’s been pushing the company to get in business with Paul for years.

Heyman appeared on the latest episode of WWE’s After The Bell podcast. The Special Counsel to The Tribal Chief tells Corey Graves new co-host Kevin Patrick that he wanted to procure Paul’s services back in 2019, when he served as the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw.

This Is Global Publicity

“When I was executive director of RAW, I had pitched Logan Paul to Vince McMahon to get involved in a scenario that would ultimately culminate in a SummerSlam or Survivor Series or a Royal Rumble match,” said Heyman.

Say what you want about the the Paul brothers, they’ve made a dramatic impact on the world of professional boxing and prize fighting. Heyman saw this disruption coming a mile away and felt that WWE should get in on the axction.

“So, I had seen the Paul brothers disrupting the boxing industry from the very beginning when they got involved. I mean, they just came in at such a level and with so much fanfare. This is a no brainer to the Tribal Chief, and it’s a no brainer to his Special Counsel.”

Heyman, a master promoter and opportunist, saw the Paul brothers’ massive audience that could be leveraged to bring additional exposure to WWE and The Bloodline.

“This is global publicity,” he added. “This is a chance to take Logan Paul’s audience and put those eyeballs on WWE, and more importantly, on Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman and the Bloodline. Of course, the desire is to retain as many eyeballs as possible because we’re trying to seduce them with our brand of entertainment.”
