Who Made The Call To Cut Drew McIntyre’s Special WrestleMania Entrance

0

The first night of WrestleMania 38 was plagued with timing issues. It led to both The New Day’s match and the special entrance of Drew McIntyre being cut from the show.

While the New Day’s encounter was rescheduled for night 2 of the show, fans criticized the company for cutting the Scottish Warrior’s entrance while showing many lengthy video packages.

However, according to Fightful Select, it weren’t the officials who made this call, and McIntyre himself made the decision to cut his entrance from the PPV.

Per the report, the former WWE champion preferred to have a more personal connection to the crowd instead.

The people who were brought in to the show for Drew McIntyre’s spot were still paid for their appearance and they all received all-access passes to WrestleMania 38.

The SmackDown star finally got his revenge over Happy Corbin in their match at the Grandest Stage of Them All. This was the second bout of the night.

McIntyre was presented strongly and he even kicked out of the End of Days which is one of the most protected finishers in WWE. Drew then delivered a Futureshock DDT and Claymore Kick to Corbin for the win.

Conor McGregor Explains Why He Wasn’t At WrestleMania

If there is one thing Conor McGregor excels at apart from MMA, it’s knowing how to keep making headlines and get people talking about him using trending topics.

The Notorious one has done it once again with WrestleMania 38. He has revealed the reason why he wasn’t at the Show Of Shows.

The former UFC champion made a tweet on the matter reading: “Why wasn’t I at WrestleMania? They all fear me, that’s why.”

This isn’t the first time Conor McGregor has gotten himself involved in talks about pro wrestling. He has had back and forth with WWE stars multiple times in the past.

Back in 2016, McGregor claimed that he can slap the head of the entire WWE roster. This prompted a response from many WWE stars telling him that he would receive an equal response.

Talking about him potentially signing a contract with the company, Triple H had said that Conor McGregor versus Vince McMahon was ‘a match made in heaven.’

There is no news about Conor possibly making a WWE appearance anytime soon, but you can never predict the Irish star’s next move.

What Happened to AJ Styles Face at WrestleMania?

0

AJ Styles competed in a dream match at WrestleMania 38 when The Phenomenal one went up against Edge in a singles match on night 2 of the PPV.

Though what caught people’s attention was the fact that the former world champion was cut open even before the match began. A pretty noticeable cut was visible on his upper right cheek during his entrance

There was a lot of speculation on what happened with AJ. It appears that he suffered the cut after bumping into the star-shaped entranceway as seen in the video below:

AJ Styles vs Edge at WrestleMania

Despite the cut, the former NJPW star went on to have a lengthy match with Edge. The injury didn’t seem to have bothered him much during the contest.

The ending of this match saw AJ Styles hitting a Styles Clash in his third attempt. To the surprise of the crowd Edge somehow managed to kick out of the finisher.

AJ then went to the ring apron for a Phenomenal Forearm but Damian Priest came out of nowhere. Styles got distracted for a second before focusing on his opponent.

The distraction was enough for Edge to counter and he knocked Styles out with a spear while he was still in the air. Edge went on to pin the former champion. This appears to be the start of the reported heel faction led by the Rated R Superstar.

Cody Rhodes Felt He Was ‘Drifting Apart’ From Tony Khan

0

Cody Rhodes has been making the media rounds since returning to WWE at WrestleMania Saturday.

While speaking with Ariel Helwani in an interview released on Sunday, Rhodes said he wasn’t satisfied being the gatekeeper in AEW.  He didn’t want to be the guy that feuds with a new star. Instead, he wanted to wrestle new people and got to do that.

Rhodes also reiterated comments about not wanting to be just a “15-time TNT champ” in AEW. He started to get the sense that he has more to accomplish.

Rhodes mentioned in a previous interview with Variety that there was a personal matter between him and AEW President Tony Khan that they were unable to get past.

“Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the personal matter itself. Tony Khan, who I have genuine respect for and I hope history is really kind to because he bankrolled this entire grassroots movement that was starting in ROH and then All In happened, then, of course, AEW happened and then he was able to buy that footage back. I felt like we were drifting apart.

It just genuinely felt like it was time. I can’t comment on the personal nature of it but it was nothing nefarious or scandalous, just we couldn’t agree. Nothing but respect for him, his family, the infrastructure there.”

Rhodes added that the personal issue between him and Khan was nothing sensational.  He’s unsure if he’ll ever share what happened, but it wasn’t anything crazy.

“It just was a rather easy decision. Hard, and hard to explain to the fans, which we didn’t, and hard to explain to the talent because one week I was there and the next week Ricky Starks and QT [Marshall] are bringing in bags and getting all my stuff out of the box and making the biggest scene they possibly could instead of being discreet as I asked them to. I had a wonderful experience there and I feel the experience had maxed out. You never want to start getting into a situation where the love goes away.”

Cody Rhodes is back in WWE after being an executive vice president in AEW in addition to a top star. Now in WWE, he will only be a wrestler.

Rhodes spoke with the media on Sunday and was asked about potentially holding a job in management again. Cody said he doesn’t believe he was mature enough for the role.

“Never say never, just general. Because in six years if we are having this conversation again I could be completely going back what I said. I don’t think I want a management job in wrestling ever again,” he admitted. “I don’t think I was mature enough for it. And I tried.

Rhodes also was asked if he has any interest in being involved with the Performance Center, the training facility of WWE where his father, Dusty, had a huge impact within NXT at the end of his career.

Rhodes admitted it is a little too hard for him right now to go to the Performance Center and if he never walks into it again he would be happy because Dusty’s office and boots are there.

“I am fully all in and committed to it [WWE]. So where I go, they’ll send me where I go. But I will try and stay clear of any management roles, anything like that ever. I am a wrestler. A superstar, and that’s probably what’s best for me.”

Rhodes will address his WWE return in storyline on Monday Night Raw.

Original Plans For WWE WrestleMania 38 Night One Opener

0

The opening contest for the first night of WWE WrestleMania 38 saw The Usos defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs to retain the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

The tag team match was originally set to be around 15 minutes long, according to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. It only went about 6 or 7 minutes.

It went short due to a legitimate injury to Boogs, who suffered a torn quadriceps and a torn patella tendon early on in the match. The rest of the wrestlers had to call things on the fly, ending it early.

WWE then had some time to fill, which did lead to more video packages being created. It is unknown whether the finish of the match had to be changed due to this issue.

Boogs was trying to squat both of The Usos when his knee gave out. Ironically, Boogs had the same knee taped up at one point during the feud, but that was done just to sell during the storyline.

Boogs immediately rolled to the floor and was checked on by the medical team at ringside. Boogs then had to be helped to the back as he was carried up the ramp as he was unable to place pressure on the knee.

Heis now set to undergo surgery in the near future and it is expected to be somewhere between six-12 months.

Ronda Rousey Dismisses Report That She Was ‘Furious’ Over WrestleMania Main Event Spot

0

Charlotte Flair retained her SmackDown Women’s Title against Ronda Rousey in one of the top matches featured on the WWE WrestleMania Saturday card.

Leading up to the show, it was believed this match was the main event, but it was reported days before that Steve Austin’s match against Kevin Owens was going to close it out and that’s what happened.

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com noted that Rousey was “furious” about losing the main event spot. He said that she walked out of the American Airlines Center where SmackDown and the Hall Of Fame were held this past Friday night after learning the news.

Rousey addressed the report with the following message via Twitter:

“I don’t know where these ‘reports’ come from but it was an absolute honor to perform under Steve Austin at Wrestlemania in Texas-I wasn’t a hall of fame because I have a six month old baby I had to put to sleep early. People are literally creating drama out of thin air.”

Rousey was the heavy betting favorite to win the match. Due to the finish of their match where Rousey had tapped out Flair, but the referee was down and then Flair hit a big boot for the win, it’s believed that a rematch will be booked soon.

Brock Lesnar: ‘You Don’t Draw Blood On Brock Lesnar and Get Away With It’

0

WWE Champion Brock Lesnar seemed to enjoy speaking about his winner take all title unification match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania Sunday in an interview with ESPN as he gave some great one-liners.

Lesnar has been saying on TV leading up to this match that he’s coming for blood after an angle at Madison Square Garden where Reigns busted him open as part of an attack.

Lesnar stated that he plans to give Reigns a country beating.

“I will solidify them tomorrow. If Paul Heyman wants to get his nose dirty, we’re going to get dirty. I’m coming for fucking blood and that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m riled up about this. I had to find peace in all this when Roman stuck his nose in and changed the rules at Madison Square Garden, he didn’t have to do that. Roman Reigns is threatened by Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar is the black cloud.”

Lesnar was asked if he watched the clip of the attack.

“100 times. That’s why I have goosebumps, that’s why I’m pissed. That’s why it’s personal to me. You don’t draw blood on Brock Lesnar and get away with it.”

Lesnar added that unifying the titles will be his legacy in WWE and the gloves are coming off when Reigns gets a ‘country ass-kicking.’

Video: Cody Rhodes’ Behind The Scenes WrestleMania 38 Entrance

WWE has given fans a special look at Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 38 entrance.

The secret on Cody returning to WWE had long been out. We saw conflicting reports on whether Rhodes was in or not. Ultimately, he put pen to paper for a massive return.

Cody took on Seth Rollins at this particularly “Stupendous” WrestleMania. Rhodes received quite the ovation when his music hit and an even louder roar when he appeared on stage.

Rhodes scored the pinfall, marking a successful return.

This is a big deal in the wrestling industry as Cody Rhodes was one of the founding members of AEW. While some thought he’d stick with the company for the long haul, that ended up not being the case.

WWE has released behind-the-scenes footage of Cody right up to his entrance and then the aftermath.

Drew McIntyre’s Special WrestleMania Entrance Was Apparently Cut

0

It seems that there was a special entrance planned for Drew McIntyre on WrestleMania 38 Saturday that was apparently cut.

Drew McIntyre and Happy Corbin competed in the second match on Night 1 on WrestleMania 38. During the match, McIntyre became the first person to ever kick out of Corbin’s End of Days finishing maneuver. This was yet another big moment for McIntyre who competed for the WWE Championship at the last two WrestleMania events. One of the biggest parts of making WrestleMania ‘stupendous’ is the unique entrances that superstars have.

On WrestleMania Saturday, we saw special entrances for Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, and Cody Rhodes. However, apparently, there was also a special entrance planned for Drew McIntyre.

On Instagram, Mike J Wilson, posted a photo of a bunch of Kilted Warriors backstage. According to the caption of the post, they were supposed to be a part of a special entrance for Drew McIntyre that was canceled.

Overall Thoughts on Black Label Pro: Norm

The event had some fun matches despite the changes in the card. Some of the changes worked out better, like The Workhorsemen vs. Bailey and Davey Richards. Both teams worked hard and could be considered one of the best matches of the show. Bailey and Richards worked well together and could be a tremendous tag-team for other independent wrestling promotions.

Another standout match was the Four-way Match. It had a good blend of comedy spots, high-flying action, and physicality. The Barbarian vs. Calvin Tankman match was solid, but fans may be disappointed that Meng couldn’t attend the show. Regardless, the final event of GCW Collective delivered a good show.

How Vince McMahon Reacted To Cody Rhodes Keeping His AEW Persona

0

Cody Rhodes had very little control in WWE when he left the company six years ago but when he came back, he came back on his own terms.

The American Nightmare not only got a hero’s welcome and a big match at WrestleMania, but he did so while keeping all the aspects of the persona he worked hard to build in the last six years.

During his post-show interview with David Shoemaker, Rhodes revealed how Vince McMahon reacted when he asked to keep his entrance music and look upon his comeback to the promotion:

“I remember saying it had to be The American Nightmare,” Cody said. “To hear Vince say ‘well it’s not broke,’ it’s vindication to prove people wrong who doubted you and prove people right who were on board with you.”

Cody Rhodes also confirmed that he will be making an appearance on this Monday’s episode of Raw. He will talk about the unfinished business that has brought him back:

“I’m going to talk about it all on Raw, but it’s pretty clear what I am here to do, there’s unfinished business for my family that we never got, and I am going to be the one to get it.”

It has been confirmed that Cody has signed a multi-year deal with WWE after his triumphant return and big win over Seth Rollins at the grandest stage of them all.

Ronda Rousey Was ‘Furious’ Over WrestleMania Main Event

0

Ronda Rousey was under the impression that she will be main eventing the night 1 of WrestleMania 38 and the Rowdy one wasn’t happy when she was told otherwise.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer provided some update on the former Raw women’s champion during his WrestleMania review.

According to the wrestling journalist, Rousey was under the impression that she would be going last at the PPV on Saturday. She even said so during her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The former UFC star was ‘furious’ when she found out that it won’t be the case on Friday night. After getting the news, she walked out of the tapings before the Hall Of Fame ceremony took place.

Though ‘cooler heads’ prevailed and Ronda showed up at WrestleMania to do her job, where she lost her singles match to Charlotte Flair.

The ending of this bout saw the referee getting knocked out from an accidental blow. Ronda Rousey caught Flair in an armbar and she tapped but the referee was down.

The SmackDown star broke the hold and went to wake up the referee. The distraction allowed The Queen to hit Rousey with a big boot to the head. She then pinned the former champion to win the match.

Wrestling World Reacts To Steve Austin Main Eventing WrestleMania Once Again

0

Stone Cold Steve Austin opened one last can of whoop-ass for Kevin Owens as he had promised during WrestleMania 38 night 1 main event.

Everyone expected Austin to do his signature moves and open up cans of beer at the show, but he did much more than that.

Seeing the veteran wrestle once again after 19 years reminded people of the Attitude Era. Many wrestling personalities reacted to the main event on Twitter.

This list included people such as Sasha Banks who said she loves Steve Austin and Mickie James who noted how Austin is still one of the most over-stars in the business:

The Texas Rattlesnake wrestled a No Holds Barred match. He not only delivered some impressive offense but Steve Austin took some pretty serious-looking bumps during the bout as well.

The match ended with Kevin Owens accidentally hitting himself with a chair. Stone Cold took the opportunity to deliver a stunner and pin the former Universal champion.

Lance Storm reacted to the ending spot by remembering a similar spot from Kurt Angle. Gabe Sapolsky on the other hand promised to reveal the backstory of this confrontation one day:

Cody Rhodes Gets Emotional Over WrestleMania Moment: “I’m Ready To Play The Game”

0

Getting a hero’s welcome at WrestleMania 38 was the biggest moment of Cody Rhodes’ wrestling career. As much as Cody did it for his late great father Dusty Rhodes, he did it for his own daughter and wife as well.  The second-generation star reacted to his huge moment at the Show Of Shows in a couple of backstage videos after his match against Seth Rollins.

Rhodes mentioned how he has been running away from the specter of Dusty for his whole career. After everything he has done in 16 years, he finally felt like he could do it for himself. He is now ready to play the game:

“Everyone keeps saying the same two words. They say ‘welcome home’, and as flattering as that is and as much as I appreciated it, reciprocate the feeling. For the entire career of 16 years, I’ve run away from the specter of Dusty Rhodes, the shadow because it’s so big and so great,”

And I finally felt like ‘You know, I don’t have to do it for him anymore. Maybe I could do it for me, and that will be doing it for him’. I got the chance to go out there and do it in Texas.” ” said Cody Rhodes, “The last WrestleMania I was here as Stardust and to come back and to be me [is the] ultimate vindication. I’m very happy. They say welcome home, I say ‘I’m ready to play the game, let’s go.'”

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/1510482658056409088

Cody talked about the welcome he got from the crowd. He mentioned how Texas has seen people such as Steve Austin and The Undertaker. So you have to earn that reaction. He said that he worked for 16 solid years to earn the same. He thinks he is the best wrestler in the entire world and the only way to prove it is to win the big one.
