Snoop Dogg Gifted Custom WWE Championship Belt

This week, WWE hosted its WrestleMania 39 tickets launch event, with a star-studded show in Los Angeles, California.

Snoop Dogg was at the event, and presented Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair with some Death Row chains as a gift, but the pair also had something special for him.

Snoop’s Title

A WWE Hall of Famer, rap legend Snoop Dogg already has plenty of accolades to his name, but now has his own custom championship title.

During the event, Lynch and Belair were on hand to present Snoop with the title, with the help from some of the LA Lakers Cheerleaders team.

Belair said it was a one-of-a-kind custom WWE Championship, which is white and gold with green accents.

Snoop was clearly thrilled by the gift, which he proudly held over his head.

The self-professed ‘Dogg-father of WrestleMania’ has made multiple appearances for WWE over the years.

At WrestleMania 24 in 2008, Snoop was the master of ceremonies for the Lumberjill tag-team match between Maria & Ashley and Melina & Beth Phoenix.

After being confronted by Santino Marella, Snoop leveled the former Intercontinental Champion before sharing a kiss with Maria.

In 2009, Snoop was the guest host of Monday Night Raw and again got physical, tackling Chavo Guerrero with a spear during a segment including Hornswoggle.

In 2016, Snoop performed at WrestleMania, providing a track for his cousin Sasha Banks, who challenged for the WWE Women’s Championship.

That same year, he would enter the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the celebrity wing.

Since Triple H took over as WWE’s Head of Talent Relations, the company has seen several returns.

At Summerslam 2022, Dakota Kai returned to WWE to align with Bayley and IYO SKY, the latter of whom had been expected to leave WWE this year when her contract expired.

On the post-Summerslam SmackDown, Karrion Kross and Scarlett returned, with the former NXT Champion attacking Drew McIntyre.

During this week’s Raw, Dexter Lumis made his presence felt in the crowd and teased a program with AJ Styles.

Two More Returns

Hit Row

Plenty of Superstars have returned to WWE in the post-Vince McMahon era, and two more could be appearing on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis and AJ ‘Top Dolla’ Francis are scheduled to be at tonight’s SmackDown in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to pwinsider. It was not confirmed that the pair will be appearing on-screen though it seems likely given the recent returns.

The Hit Row members were released by WWE in November 2021 alongside the rest of the group.

Hit Row was a popular quartet of Superstars, comprising of Adonis, Francis, B-Fab, and their leader Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott.

In October 2021, the group was called up to the main roster, but it was reported that Francis would serve as the group’s leader.

The group’s tenure on the blue brand was short-lived, as B-Fab was released on November 4, with the rest of the stable cut two weeks later.

There is no report that B-Fab will appear on tonight’s SmackDown.

Scott will not be appearing as he is with AEW, competing as one-half of the World Tag Team Champions as Swerve Strickland.

Next year, WWE WrestleMania 39 will return to California, in what is expected to be one of the biggest events WWE has put on in some time.

Like the past three WrestleManias, the 39th iteration of WWE’s flagship show will be a two-night event and will take place on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

WWE always goes the extra mile for WrestleMania, and that includes when tickets go on sale for their annual event.

This week, WWE hosted a special event in Los Angeles to mark the tickets launch, which kicked off with an appearance by Triple H.

After ‘the Game’ Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch appeared to hype up the crowd in LA.

Lynch, who was wearing a sling, spoke about next year’s WrestleMania, and said she plans on “stealing the show.”

Belair spoke about their Raw Women’s title match from this year’s WrestleMania, reminding the Man that she emerged victorious.

Celebrity Invovlement

It wasn’t just WWE Superstars who appeared at the WrestleMania 39 ticket launch event, as dancer/singer/YouTuber Jojo Siwa also made an appearance.

The 19-year-old performer was the guest on an edition of Miz TV, but introduced SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan.

Siwa, who wore a Liv hoodie, alongside Morgan poked fun at the alleged size of Miz’s ‘balls’ which the two-time former WWE Champion insisted are “wonderful.”

WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg also attended the WrestleMania 39 Tickets launch event and hyped up WWE’s two-night Premium Live Event.

The rap legend was presented with his own custom WWE Championship title and proceeded to ‘make it rain’ with Lynch and Belair on stage.

Snoop’s involvement is interesting, as he is the cousin of WWE Superstar Sasha Banks, who many believe will return to WWE TV soon in this post-Vince McMahon era of the company.

Since the mid-1980s, it has been regular practice for major pro wrestling title changes to happen at pay per view events. Prior to that point, title changes and blow off matches for top rivalries tended to occur on the house show circuit, with TV as a marketing tool to get fans into the local arenas.

Once pay per view became the standard, promotions like WWE and WCW understandably wanted to compel their viewers to shell out for super cards and buy the right to watch historic moments. Just the same, cable television has seen its share of title changes, up to and including world championships changing hands.

25 years ago this week, one of the biggest free TV title changes of all time occurred when Lex Luger made Hollywood Hogan submit to the Human Torture Rack on Nitro to bring the World Championship back to WCW from the nWo. As such, it’s a fitting time to look back at the best cable TV title changes of all time.

Nowadays, it’s hard to remember a time when Roman Reigns wasn’t a world champion or in the clear-cut top tier of stars in the business. The now-Head of the Table won his first WWE Championship at Survivor Series 2015, but the reign ended mere moments later when Sheamus cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.

Reigns was unsuccessful at recapturing the title at the TLC PPV on December 13, but one night later challenged The Celtic Warrior again and picked up the duke in a solid match. While any world title change on cable TV is a big deal, but this one was more significant for affirming Reigns’ spot as the new face of WWE.

This time, he’d reign for over a month, and when he lost the title to Triple H in the Royal Rumble, it was clearly set up for him to take the title back in the main event of WrestleMania 32 as his foundation of being WWE’s top star only grew more and more stable.

Bash at the Beach 1996 saw the nWo begin to dominate WCW. Hulk Hogan turned heel to lead the faction and won the WCW Championship a month later at Hog Wild. From there, his stable ran roughshod over the company’s babyfaces and Hogan enjoyed almost a full year as a heel world champion before Lex Luger stopped him in his tracks on the August 4, 1997 episode of Nitro.

It was a dramatic scene when The Total Package trapped the nWo leader in a Human Torture Rack to secure the submission. Despite Luger not reigning for long, the title change represented one of the biggest feel-good moments in company history.

Booker T defeated Scott Steiner for the WCW Championship on the last ever episode of WCW Nitro. The title was far from its peak, after some inauspicious names like David Arquette and Vince Russo had gotten their hands on it. Nonetheless, it still meant something to be the final world champion the company had on its own terms (in other words, not when the WCW Championship was defended under WWE booking, on WWE television).

In winning, Booker established himself as a torch bearer for the once-proud company as its roster and intellectual property merged with WWE. It was a huge step toward Booker becoming one of the most successful WCW stars to cross over to their former competitor.

One of the biggest flaws with WCW booking was a tendency to overcomplicate matters—often failing to give fans what they really wanted in favor of swerves as characters turned heel or messy scenarios led to indecisive finishes. The company got things right, however, on the July 6, 1998 edition of Nitro.

WCW paid off over a year of Goldberg going undefeated with a clean win over Hollywood Hogan to win his first world championship. The title win itself was a remarkable moment, but all the more so shored up Goldberg’ status as a top guy who could remain a draw into his WWE career over two decades later.

Mankind Defeats The Rock For The WWE Championship (WWE Raw, January 4, 1999)

Wrestling fans by and large enjoy a good underdog story. January 4, 1999 marked the culmination of two great underdog stories. Yes, Mick Foley beat the odds when he defeated The Rock—both in kayfabe and reality, becoming an unlikely world champion for the first time, and beating a bona fide megastar in the process. In addition WWE got the better of WCW.

The chaotically brilliant and great moment of Mick Foley capturing world title gold, and WCW spoiling the result, facilitated a huge victory for WWE against WCW. Fans changed the station to give Raw a Monday Night War ratings victory, at the expense of WCW’s infamous Fingerpoke of Doom Nitro.

Wrestling promoters will, understandably, continue to prioritize pay per view or “Premium Live Events” for a lot of their biggest title changes. Nonetheless, free TV title changes have their place for shock value, and at times reaching a larger audience. There’s a rich history of major title changes on TV, and twenty-five years after the biggest win of Lex Luger’s career, it will be interesting to see what modern stars might follow in his footsteps.

Bret Hart has weighed in on Vince McMahon resigning from WWE amid the hush money scandals. 

It was first reported in June that the WWE board was investigating McMahon for a secret $3 million settlement he allegedly agreed to pay a former WWE employee with whom he allegedly had an affair. A second report came out last month noting agreed to pay more than $12 million to four women to “suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity” over a 16-year period.

Later that month, McMahon announced he was retiring, later clarified in an SEC filing that he resigned after already stepping back from his duties as WWE Chairman and CEO for the duration of the investigation. 

While speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Hart was asked about McMahon’s retirement.

“Like everybody else, I’m mostly just kinda surprised. I don’t think anybody’s ever made as big a footprint as Vince McMahon. I feel kinda sad about it, actually. I know people probably think I would be gloating or happy to see him go through what he’s going, but I don’t. I feel bad that it happened, or whatever’s happened. I think his loss or his absence from the business will be sorely missed,” he said.

Although Hart and McMahon were once bitter enemies after the infamous Montreal Screwjob in 1997, they later buried the hatchet.

Bianca Belair Details Eating Disorder, Psychiatric Hospital Stay

Since coming to WWE, Bianca Belair has become one of the biggest stars of the promotion’s women’s division.

In her first WrestleMania match, Belair headlined Night One of WrestleMania 37, defeating Sasha Banks to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Just one year later, Belair would repeat her success, dethroning Becky Lynch to win the Raw Women’s Championship, becoming the first person to beat ‘The Man’ for a title in nearly three years.

Her Inner Struggle

Belair isn’t just a fighter in the ring, but has been fighting a much different battle within herself.

Sitting down with Ariel Helwani, the reigning Raw Women’s Champion spoke about her struggles with mental health, which dated back to her freshman year at the University of South Carolina.

“My freshman year, I just struggled so much mentally. I was struggling with an eating disorder secretly in high school, so when I got to college I told myself ‘okay I’m not going to do this anymore. I’m gonna be healthy.”

“I had a very unhealthy relationship with food… Mentally or physically, I just wasn’t able to get back to where I was.”

Belair said that after her freshman year, she transferred to Texas A&M, where she continued to struggle with her mental health.

The Raw Women’s Champion mentioned her coach at the time Vince Anderson for being an enormous help when she was struggling.

“I was put into a psychiatric hospital. It got that low… That’s when everyone found out. He [Anderson] was the one, once I got out, who said ‘you can’t come back.’ He made me go see a psychiatrist. He was like ‘you have to get yourself together mentally because that’s what is more important.’

“I was put into a psychiatric hospital. It got that low.”

After Texas A&M, Belair transferred again to the University of Tennessee, where she was not allowed to compete.

“I wasn’t allowed to compete for the team. But she [UofT coach Heather Van Norman] told me ‘I’ll train you for a whole year, even if you can’t contribute to the team.’ And she’s the person who really got me back on my feet.”

Rob Van Dam Weighs In on Vince McMahon & John Laurinaitis Leaving WWE

Over the past month, the wrestling world has been rocked as two of the most influential men in WWE have left the company.

In July, Vince McMahon announced his retirement from the promotion, a month after stepping down as CEO and Chairman.

McMahon stepped down from the roles due to the ongoing investigation into him over allegations of misconduct with female employees.

More recently, it was reported that John Laurinaitis, who is alleged to have participated in the McMahon scandal, had been terminated from WWE, ending his 21-year tenure with the promotion.

RVD & Laurinaitis’ Relationship

The same year that Laurinaitis joined WWE (2001), Rob Van Dam signed with the promotion following the collapse of ECW.

A former WWE and ECW Champion, Van Dam worked closely with both McMahon and Laurinaitis.

During an interview with SEScoops correspondent Steve Fall, RVD addressed the departure of Laurinaitis, calling the former WWE Head of Talent Relations his ‘guy.’

“he was my guy. I know a lot of people didn’t get along with him. I was wrestling him in Japan in ‘93… I could relate to him in a lot of ways.”

Addressing McMahon’s departure from WWE, Van Dam wasn’t pleased with the former Chairman’s retirement, but tried to see the positive side.

“I don’t like Vince being gone, but if it’s better for business, then that’s awesome.”

Conrad Thompson tried to talk his father-in-law Ric Flair out of the fake heart attack spot in his Last Match.

Flair recently took part in what was said the be the final professional wrestling match of his career. He teamed up with his son-in-law and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Andrade El Idolo against the team of Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

During the match, Flair actually had a spot where he faked he was having a heart attack, and when Lethal looked concerned, he poked him in the eye.

In a recent episode of Jeff Jarrett’s podcast, “My World,” which Conrad co-hosts, Conrad revealed he tried to talk Flair out of the spot.

“The only thing you and I pushed back on, and we pushed back the first time we heard it and the second time, and the third time. ‘Do not fake the heart deal,” Conrad Thompson said. “Do not. Please.’ The afternoon of, he goes, ‘Guys, guys, it’s my last match.

“I’m not saying I’m going to do it, but if they are with it and I feel I have the crowd, I’m going to do it. Jay is going to have a little sympathy and I’ll poke him in the eyes.’ When it didn’t happen in the ring, at first I thought, ‘We made it, he’s not going to do it.’

“He did it on the floor. I didn’t look at you, but I know somewhere, you were looking at me like, ‘Why is he doing this?’ I saw great feedback from that, people dug it. Who are we, especially me, it’s his last match. He gets to pick.“

Ric Flair And Conrad Thompson

There was a lot of concern about the 73-year-old Flair competing in the matchup in the first place. Flair admittedly was dealing with injuries heading into the bout, but wanted to put on one final show in front of the Nashville crowd.

The two-time WWE Hall Of Famer and Andrade emerged from the bout victorious when it was all said and done. He even made an appearance at The World Wrestling Council’s 49th Anniversary Show in Puerto Rico shortly thereafter, serving as a manager for Andrade.

Flair also got physical during the appearance, taking a few punches and a headbutt from Carlos Colon. He revealed he was offered to wrestle for the promotion, but declined.

Vincent Reveals Jay Lethal Was Set To Join The Righteous (Exclusive)

Vincent recently spoke with SEScoops Correspondent Steve Fall about the plans that The Righteous had before Ring Of Honor went on hiatus. 

At Impact Hard To Kill, Vincent made his Impact Wrestling debut after a 10-man Hardcore War tag team match attacking Rich Swann, Eddie Edwards, Heath, and Rhino alongside former Kingdom stablemate Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis, and PCO.

However, before this, Vincent was a member of the Ring of Honor roster. At the time of his debut, Vincent was one-third of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions after he, Bateman, and Dutch won the titles from Shane Taylor Promotions at ROH Final Battle last year. This was Vincent’s fourth time holding the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships.

Jay Lethal Was Supposed To Join The Righteous?

Vincent revealed The Righteous’ plans before the ROH hiatus when speaking with SEScoops Correspondent Steve Fall, after being asked if he wanted to bring The Righteous stable to Impact.

“I mean, I did to be honest, but I’m being completely honest with you. Like, I like loved The Righteous, like, you know, thing that we’re doing. Myself, Bateman and Dutch, I wish that could have continued longer because it was going to be pretty awesome. Like we were going to do a whole thing with Jay Lethal where Jay Lethal joins the group and this this whole, like, kind of wild thing moving forward. And we just started getting into it. 

And I don’t know if you even watch the tail end of the Ring of Honor, but like, we had just started to get into that, like final battle, the last final battle was supposed to be myself versus Jay Lethal, which starts the story. But obviously, we got the news before that. So everything kind of changed. There’s no point doing it at that point. 

I mean, like, at the end of the day, like it would be cool to to have went in there as The Righteous and into Impact because I do think that like that specific vision hasn’t even, you know, scratched the surface of what it could be. So, I think it would be very interesting there. But, you know, I, the end of the day is like, you know that I went there and they allowed me to so I’m very grateful. So it’s not that you know what I mean? It all worked out regardless, at the end of the day, you know what I mean? So it’s still cool. 

Yeah, well, locker rooms really great. You know, locker rooms great there, you know, everybody was very, you know, kind of like welcoming. Nobody was not welcoming. There was kind of cool.”

Cody Rhodes Advertised for Upcoming Edition of WWE RAW

Injured WWE star Cody Rhodes is being advertised for an upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW.

Rhodes injured his pectoral muscle back in June, which sidelined him for several months after requiring surgery. Initial expectations had Rhodes out for nine months, meaning he wouldn’t be expected back until March of 2023.

However, much speculation suggested he could be back in time for the Royal Rumble in January of 2023. With that being said, the Scotiabank Arena is promoting Cody Rhodes for an in-ring appearance on August 22.

When will Cody Rhodes Return to WWE?

The American Nightmare is being advertised to compete at next week’s WWE Raw from Toronto, Canada.

It’s unknown if he’s medically cleared to compete, but the Scotiabank Arena is hyping Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins:

Rhodes tore his pectoral muscle in the midst of his feud with Rollins on RAW. Despite having already torn his pectoral, he still competed against Rollins inside Hell In A Cell back in June, winning the match and seemingly closing the chapter on his rivalry with Rollins.

However, the following night on Monday Night RAW, Rollins attacked Rhodes after faking a compromise, attacking Rhodes’ injured area to seemingly help write him off TV. Rhodes was being positioned as the top babyface over on Monday Night RAW.

The timing of his injury couldn’t have been worst. However, many expect Rhodes to return at the Royal Rumble in January, potentially winning the match and going on to WrestleMania 39 to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Championship.

With Rhodes now being advertised for a match on August 22, it certainly makes things interesting.

Rob Van Dam On Working With AEW: “Never Say Never”

Rob Van Dam recently spoke with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston about the possibility of working with AEW and his current relationship with WWE.

Back in 2019, Van Dam made a one-night return to WWE for the special Raw Reunion episode of Raw on July 22, 2019. RVD was inducted into the 2021 WWE Hall of Fame class. He later made an appearance at the 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony.

Since then, the former WWE Champion has been wrestling in Pro Wrestling NOAH and competed at NOAH Destination 2022. Van Dam & Masato Tanaka defeated NOSAWA Rongai & Super Crazy in a hardcore tag team match. He also competed at the CyberFight Festival 2022 when he made his Pro Wrestling NOAH debut. He teamed with the Stinger duo of Hayata and Yoshinari Ogawa to defeat Kaito Kiyomiya, Daisuke Harada and Yo-Hey.

“Never Say Never”

When speaking with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston, the former ECW World Champion spoke about his current view of the landscape of pro wrestling and any connections he might have to the major companies in the business.

The former WWE Champion:

“Oh, it’d be awesome. Yeah. You know what, I kind of feel like, if they wanted me there, that I would be there. They would make it so that I would want to be there. And so I mean, I’m on the front without having any, just being on the fence and not feeling you know, hungry. Or either way, just, whatever happens, happens, like RVD is, you know, I kind of feel like, like that. I mean, 

I don’t know, what they want to do, what their plan is, what their agenda is, for all their talent now. You know, seems like they want more normal looking people that normal people look at, that normal-looking people could relate to maybe, I really don’t even know, it’s whatever. 

WWE Legends Deal

Van Dam continued, “But you know, I am, I’m around. And I do have a legends deal with WWE, which is merchandise related. But I’m not somebody that they call a lot to pop up at a meet and greet or anything, you know, and for whatever reason, maybe they think I don’t want to do it, and they don’t want to bother me, whatever. 

For that matter, just like my documentary said, I mean, that was the takeaway from the icons, WWE icons documentary for me to take away was that WWE doesn’t think that I want it or that or that I want it bad enough, because of my laid back attitude. And, and because they think that I would maybe change in ways they wanted me to if I did want it. 

So, I don’t know, I think they kind of got it right, you know, so maybe they just, I don’t know. But to answer your question, though, you know, honestly, how I feel about it. I say, you know, never say never, because I am still wrestling a lot more this year than I thought I would last year I only wrestled like twice the whole year.”

Mick Foley on What He Didn’t Like About Vince McMahon’s Booking

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has revealed what he didn’t like about Vince McMahon’s booking.

Taking to his “Foley Is Pod” podcast, Foley offered up his thoughts on the recent creative changes within WWE, with Vince McMahon stepping down. During that segment, Foley actually touched on what he doesn’t like about McMahon’s booking style.

Foley noted that he isn’t a fan of always having guys lose in their hometown for the sake of heat. He’d rather see those respective stars go over in their hometowns.

“There is a part of Vince that genuinely likes to make dreams come true. He likes to do that for his audience. I think you could argue that he puts them through an unnecessary ringer sometimes, you know?

“Like I’m not a fan of having people lose and get embarrassed in their hometowns. I guess he thinks, you know, it’s good heat. I would rather have seen, you know, Charlotte [Flair] go over in Charlotte and Sasha [Banks] go over in Boston instead of vice versa.”

McMahon was the head of WWE’s front office and creative decisions for decades. However, after some sexual misconduct allegations surfaced, McMahon was forced to step down as WWE CEO, leaving his daughter Stephanie McMahon and Nick Kahn to step in as co-CEOs.

Soon after, when investigations into these allegations began, McMahon then decided to retire altogether, stepping down as head of WWE creative. His son-in-law and multiple time WWE World Champion Triple H ascended to the throne, assuming creative control in McMahon’s absence.

There’s sure to be a massive difference in style with Triple H at the helm rather than McMahon. It will be interesting to see how the landscape of WWE changes over the next few weeks under “The Game.”

Tony Khan Reveals How Often He Watches WWE

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) president Tony Khan has revealed how often he watches WWE.

Recently, Khan was interviewed by DAZN, where he was asked about the competition over in WWE. During the interview, Khan divulged that he watches WWE pretty often, and believes the product has improved recently since Triple H assumed control of creative.

“Now the competition changing, I think that’s a good thing in some ways. If you like good wrestling, you’re just more likely to want to see it because our competitor has been doing better shows recently than they had been doing, I think.

“I watch them pretty often, and I think they’ve been better,” Tony Khan said. “It seems like that’s the consensus among people who watch them. I do think in general, if it’s gonna get more people watching wrestling, that’s probably not gonna hurt any wrestling company.

“And we stand to gain the most in many ways because if you’re a big wrestling fan, and if you’ve been away and you like good wrestling, you might be saying, ‘Where are Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson? CM Punk’s back?’

“So as we get to an exciting point of a lot of people coming back to the company, but a lot of new fans also, I think hopefully they want to embrace the new wrestlers in AEW and also a lot of the big names in AEW that you’ll be able to see on a regular basis, people that are on the show every week and have been going all summer like Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley.

“Then again, whenever CM Punk is back, there’s a big setup for an undisputed championship to be crowned. I think if you’re a fan of good wrestling, it’d be a great time to step back in and check it out because right now, there’s a lot of good wrestling on TV, including Wednesday’s on TBS and Fridays on TNT.”

Longtime WWE front-man Vince McMahon was forced to step down as WWE CEO after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. This left his daughter Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan to step up as the new co-CEOs of WWE.

Soon after, investigations into McMahon’s misconduct sparked, then forcing McMahon to make the decision to retire as head of creative in WWE. His son-in-law and ex-WWE Champion Triple H has since stepped up to the plate.

Since taking over, the new creative regime under Triple H has been positively received. It’s also involved the return of former NXT talents now getting their shot on the main roster. It will be interesting to see how prominent changes under Triple H will be moving forward.

Bobby Lashley Has Another WWE Title Run In Him, Is Trying to Elevate The US Title

Bobby Lashley has now revealed that he believes he has another WWE Championship run in him, and that he’s attempting to elevate the United States Championship with his star power.

Lashley’s Recent WWE Run

On the March 1 episode of Raw, Lashley defeated The Miz in a lumberjack match to win the WWE Championship for the first time. Lashley would go on to successfully defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37, and at WrestleMania Backlash in a triple threat match also including Braun Strowman, and at Hell in a Cell in a Last Chance Hell in a Cell match. At SummerSlam, Lashley retained the WWE Championship due to referee stoppage after Goldberg could no longer continue.

On the September 13 episode of Raw, after successfully defending the title against Randy Orton, Lashley lost the WWE Championship to Big E who cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, ending his reign at 196 days. On September 27 on Raw, Lashley faced Big E for the WWE Championship but the match ended in disqualification after Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander helped Lashley fight off The New Day, seemingly reuniting The Hurt Business. A rematch then took place in a steel cage, where Big E defeated Lashley.

Since then, on the March 28 episode of Raw, Lashley made his return from injury and started a feud with Omos. This set up a match between the two at WrestleMania 38, with Lashley turning face for the first time since October 2018. Following Hell in a Cell, Lashley began a feud with United States Champion Theory, culminating at Money in the Bank, where Lashley defeated Theory to win his third United States Championship. At SummerSlam, Lashley retained the title against Theory in a rematch.

Lashley Has Another World Title Run In His Future?

The current United States Champion spoke with Rick Ucchino of the Bleav in Pro Wrestling Podcast about his current US Title reign and the possibility of another WWE World Title run.

??“I’m the champion of the United States. I think that’s a huge honor. Everything that I win and everything that I do is just, it’s a dream come true. I’m living the dream man. I’m able to come back and wrestle right now, at my age, and I’m still able to do it. I still feel great. I’m still winning titles. I’m still able to advance with the business and everything is just going great for me right now. 

This title is something that is very important to me, because it gives me an opportunity to kind of help raise the roster and help elevate some of the other guys that are on the roster. Do I have another World title run in my future? 100 percent, but right now there’s a lot of things going on,” Lashley said.

How He’s Adjusted Since Returning To WWE

The night after WrestleMania 34 on Raw, Lashley made his return to WWE after a ten-year absence, becoming a member of the Raw brand once again. During his return, he confronted Elias and attacked him with a chair. The first month of Lashley’s return saw him in a number of tag-team matches, teaming with the likes of Braun Strowman, Bobby Roode, Finn Bálor, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, all being in victorious efforts against the likes of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Jinder Mahal, The Miz, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas.

“It’s amazing. And I think the reason why is people really started to understand. When I first came in, it was like reintroducing me to whole new crowd, a new fan base. And over time I think people have really seen me go through some hard times. They’ve seen me stick in there and just kind of persevere. And I think that people are behind me right now, because they know what I’m capable of doing,” he said.

Lashley’s Advice For Future Wrestlers

Lashley has been in the wrestling business for 16 years, and he is now being to pass down some of his knowledge. Lashley spoke about his experiences speaking and working with hopeful future WWE Superstars. 

The former WWE Champion said: 

“I’m talking to some people that want to get into wrestling business. They already know what their nickname is. They already know what their signature move is. I was like, you don’t even know how to run the ropes. 

You haven’t even taken one bump, but you know what your signature move is gonna be. You know what your entrance is gonna be, you already have all this stuff. I’m like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s take a step back and just learn.”

Bobby Touts Hard Work & Paitence

The US Champion reflected on his early years and what it was like for him when he began to pursue professional wrestling. Lashley touts his hard work and attention to basics as a big part of his success.

Bobby said, “When it came to the point of actually thinking about what to do for an entrance and all this other stuff, that that was like way down the road. I wasn’t even thinking about that. I was just thinking about grassroots. I’m the type of person that tries to take it from day one and try to learn. 

I mean, when I started boxing, I wasn’t throwing 18 punches. I was throwing a jab, I worked two hours on just a jab and that’s how I deal with everything. That’s how you develop a good foundation, is to really take your time to learn the basics before you get up to the big step.”

Drew McIntyre Has Something “Extremely Special” Planned for WWE Clash at the Castle

On September 3, WWE will host their Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event from Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, Wales.

The show will be WWE’s biggest event in the UK in over 30 years, with the last major event on British soil being Summerslam 1992 from London, England.

Something Special

WWE Clash at the Castle will be headlined by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defending his title against Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre earned a title match by defeating Sheamus on the go-home SmackDown before Summerslam 2022.

On Twitter, the Scottish Superstar promised that he has been working on something extremely special in the run-up to the show.

Going off the images Drew shared, it appears that he is working on some kind of promotional video ahead of Clash at the Castle.

Is Drew the One?

Roman Reigns has dominated as Champion for over 700 days, but some have suggested that McIntyre will be the one to dethrone the Tribal Chief.

Not only is McIntyre one of the few Superstars WWE has pushed as on a similar level to Reigns, but many fans have said that WWE’s desire for a big moment at their first UK Premium Live Event since 1992, will see a new champion be crowned.

Others have suggested that Reigns most lose the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship ahead of WrestleMania 39, if the plan is for him to face his cousin The Rock.

The belief is that a Reigns-Rock match would not need a title involved, and it would only spoil that Reigns would win, as Rock’s busy movie schedule would keep him away from the ring.

No Triple Threat

On last week’s SmackDown, Karrion Kross returned to WWE, attacking Drew McIntyre.

After the attack, Kross stared down Reigns, making it clear he desires the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Despite speculation that this will lead to a Triple Threat at Clash at the Castle, it’s been reported that WWE remains focussed on a singles match to headline the Cardiff show.

AEW Star Says He’d “Go to War” For Triple H

In the three years since AEW was founded, the promotion has built a stacked roster, featuring some of the most talented stars in wrestling.

Many AEW stars previously worked with WWE, but were laid off as part of the company’s dreaded ‘budget cuts.’

Some never even got a chance to make it to WWE’s main roster, instead being cut during their time as part of NXT.

Go to War

Bobby Fish is one of the former Superstars who was cut from WWE while still part of NXT.

Fish, a former NXT Tag Team Champion, was released by WWE in August 2021, and would make his debut for AEW less than two months later.

As part of NXT, Fish worked closely with Triple H, who was the head of the brand during the former’s tenure with WWE.

During a recent appearance on the “Rewind Recap Relive” podcast, Fish addressed ‘The Game’ now being Head of WWE’s Creative and Talent Relations, and is optimistic (via 411Mania.)

“I can’t really speak firsthand, but to know that there is a chance now with Hunter back doing his thing there that things could return or maybe become something entirely new and different but under him. I just can’t see anything in the wrestling business that he has a hand in that’s not going to be successful. And I’m obviously biased and partial to the man, but I would go to war for him seven days a week.”

Mickie James has been wrestling for years and has had success in multiple promotions.

In 2005, James made her WWE TV debut as the obsessed fan of Trish Stratus, who would later betray the Canadian Hall of Famer to win her first Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 22.

James would go on to become a five-time WWE Women’s Champion, one-time Divas Champion and is also a four-time Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion.

Done in the Ring

After years of appearing on TV in various promotions, Mickie James has seemingly confirmed her retirement from wrestling.

James hasn’t wrestled since the July 14, 2022, episode of Impact Wrestling, where she lost to Chelsea Green.

Following the bout, James noted that she was ‘going home’ in a backstage segment.

Recently, it was rumored that James would be making a return to WWE to be part of the ongoing WWE Women’s Tag Tem Championships tournament.

Responding to a fan in a tweet, James not only denied any involvement with the tournament or WWE, but hinted that she is retired from in-ring competition.

Life Outside of the Ring

James may be done as an in-ring wrestler, but there are still roles for her in the wrestling world.

In June 2019, James suffered an injury in WWE and would spend time working as a commentator on WWE Main Event and in NXT.

On the June 8, 2021 episode of NWA Powerrr, James announced that she would be working as an executive producer for the first all-female event NWA EmPowerrr.

AEW President Tony Khan had been teasing all day that next week’s Dynamite would have a tie-in to a major IP that was owned by Warner Bros, causing fans to speculate what crossover they could see featured with their favorite superstars.

That tie-in is the House of the Dragon, the soon to be released HBO Original series that is an extension of the hit Game of Thrones show that wowed audiences for years.

AEW has since announced an early lineup for the episode, which includes Bryan Danielson in action and the start of the highly-anticipated trios tournament (full brackets here). Matchups are below.

This evening AEW held their Quake By The Lake edition of Dynamite from Minneapolis Minnesota, which saw the promotion announce details for the upcoming trios tournament that will crown the first-ever trios champions.

AEW teams that will be competing: House of Black, Dark Order, Trustbusters, Best Friends, Death Triangle, Young Bucks w/mystery man, and La Faccion Ingobernable.

The final spot will be taken by NJPW’s Will Ospreary & Aussie Open, who previously competed on AEW programming in the build-up to Forbidden Door. Ospreay has since taken to Twitter to hype his participation.

Darby Allin Won The Coffin Match

Darby Allin battled Brody King in a Coffin Match to begin the show. Allin attacked during Brody’s entrance and hit him with a bunch of punches. Darby bashed Brody over the back with his skateboard and revealed he had thumbtacks on the bottom of it. Allin busted Brody open right away and the big man rolled out of the ring. Allin chased after him and Brody sent him flying over the barricade. Brody broke the skateboard but turned around into a dive off the steps from Allin.

Allin slammed Brody into the steel steps and rolled him back into the ring. Darby climbed to the top turnbuckle but Brody grabbed him by the throat. Darby escaped and hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the middle turnbuckle. Allin rolled Brody out of the ring and started dragging him towards the coffin. Brody battled back and bashed Darby into the barricade several times before Allin crashed to the floor. Brody continued the beatdown outside the ring as Dynamite went to a commercial break.

When Dynamite returned, Brody went for a Splash off the top rope but Allin got out of the way and the big man crashed through a table. Darby set up for a dive but the lights in the arena went out. When they came back on, Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews were ringside. Julia Hart tripped up Allin from behind and Buddy planted Darby with a slam. Malakai held up Darby against a table and Brody hit him with a Cannonball.

Buddy Matthews opened the casket and it was revealed that Sting was in there waiting. The Icon hit Buddy with the baseball bat a couple of times before getting into the ring. Sting bashed Brody in the midsection and had a stare-down with Malakai Black. He gave Malakai the bat and dared him to swing. Malakai declined and exited the ring. Sting chased after him as Darby hit Brody with a dive. Brody sent Darby into the barricade and then lifted him onto his shoulders. King made his way to the ring apron but Darby escaped. Darby then choked Brody out with a chain and got him in the coffin to end the match.

Andrade & Rush Picked Up A Big Victory, Hangman Page Turned Down The Young Bucks

Andrade El Idolo & Rush battled Lucha Bros tonight in a Tornado tag team match on Dynamite. Rush launched Fenix into the turnbuckle and traded words with Pentagon Jr. Andrade tripped up Penta from outside the ring as Fenix caught Rush with a Suicide Dive. Rey followed it up with another one on Andrade on the entrance ramp.

Penta connected with a Powerbob for a near fall and tagged in Fenix. Rey climbed to the top rope but Andrade broke it up. Andrade hit a Dropkick on Fenix for a near fall. Andrade and Rush then flipped onto Lucha Bros on the entrance ramp. El Idolo brought Penta back into the ring and went for the cover but he kicked out at two.

Lucha Bros battled back and hit Rush with a double Superkick. Rey hit a Splash off of Pentagon Jr.’s shoulders in a cool spot. Lucha Bros knocked Andrade and Rey out of the ring with a couple of Superkicks before flipping onto them outside the ring. Fenix went for a Splash but Andrade got his knees up.

Rush caught Penta with a Dropkick and Andrade followed it up with Double Knees. Rush hit a Powerbomb but turned around into a Cutter from Pentagon Jr. Penta connected with a Destroyer on Andrade on the ring apron. He went to give a Piledriver to Rush but he blocked it. Rey climbed to the top turnbuckle and started to walk across the top rope but El Idolo tripped him up.

Rush delivered a knee to Penta’s face and Andrade hit a DDT for a two count. Rush tried Penta to the ropes and hit Fenix with a Dropkick. Rush went for the cover but Pentagon unmasked himself to break it up at two. Andrade grabbed the mask and threw it into the crowd as the two managers brawled. Rush hit another Dropkick on Fenix and Andrade took out Penta. El Idolo then planted Fenix with the Hammerlock DDT for the pinfall victory.

After the match, the Young Bucks approached Hangman Page backstage while he was with Dark Order. They asked him to be in there Trios team for the touranment but Hangman declined. Page said that he’s not going to be in the tournament at all. Young Bucks and their mystery partner will battle Andrade, Rush, and Dragon Lee next week in the first round of the Trios tournament.

Luchasaurus Hit Pat Buck, Jungle Boy Attacked Christian Cage

Luchasaurus defeated Anthony Henry tonight with ease as Jungle Boy joined commentary. Luchasaurus delivered a headbutt and then a slam for the pinfall victory. Christian Cage appeared on the jumbotron backstage to cut a promo and poked fun at the city. Jungle Boy rushed backstage and a brawl broke out. Security broke it up but Luchasaurus laid them all out. Pat Buck walked right into a punch from Luchasaurus to end the segment.

Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt made their way to the ring for a promo. Wardlow defeated Jay Lethal at Battle of the Belts III this past Saturday to retain the TNT Championship.

Sonjay said that they are not done with Wardlow and wanted another title shot for Jay Lethal. Wardlow interrupted and told Jay that he already had his match and tonight he’s whooping all of their asses. FTR joined Wardlow and the heels retreated. Jay went to attack Wardlow from behind but FTR caught him with the Big Rig.

Ricky Starks Dominated

Ricky Starks battled Aaron Solo tonight on Dynamite. Starks hit a Jawbreaker and followed it up with a Tornado DDT. Starks set up for a move but Solo countered into a Hurricanrana. Starks quickly responded with a Spear for the pinfall victory. Nick Comoroto rushed the ring with a steel chair and Ricky planted him with a Spinebuster. Solo attacked from behind but Ricky was able to escape through the crowd as The Factory chased him. Powerhouse Hobbs was shown throwing a TV monitor to the floor backstage as Ricky celebrated in the crowd.

Jade Cargill Retained The TBS Championship

Jade Cargill defended the TBS Championship against Madison Rayne tonight on Dynamite. Stokely Hathaway and Kiera Hogan accompanied the champ to the ring. Jade patted Madison on the head before sending her to the corner. Jade went for a shoulder thrust but Madison dodged it and connected with a Dropkick that sent the TBS Champion out of the ring.

Jade got back in the ring and dominated the next few minutes of action. Cargill took a break to do some push-ups in the middle of the ring as the crowd chanted along. Jade lifted Madison above her shoulders and dropped her to the mat. The champion followed it up with a Splash in the corner and Madison fell to the canvas.

Rayne responded with a Neckbreaker and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Madison hit a Blockbuster off the middle turnbuckle but couldn’t keep the champion down. Rayne planted Jade with a DDT and went for the cover but she kicked out at two and the title match continued. Kiera Hogan hopped on the ring apron for a distraction but Jade accidentally booted her in the face.

Madison went for the Cross Rayne but Cargill countered into Jaded for the pinfall victory. Jade Cargill is now 36-0 and remains the TBS Champion. After the match, Athena attacked Jade from behind but Kiera got the champion out of the ring.

Tony Schiavone interviewed Toni Storm and AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa backstage. Toni is the #1 contender for the AEW Women’s Championship at the moment.

Bryan Danielson will have a promo Friday on Rampage and will battle Daniel Garcia in a 2 out of 3 Falls match next week on Dynamite.

Jon Moxley Retained, CM Punk Returned

Jon Moxley defended the Interim AEW Championship against Chris Jericho in tonight’s main event. William Regal joined commentary for the match. Chris vowed to wrestle as the Lionheart tonight and “stretch the sh*t out of Jon Moxley”.

Jericho and Moxley locked up in the middle of the ring to begin the action. Chris got the champion in a headlock in the middle of the ring. Jon escaped and the two circled each other. Jericho dominated and ripped out one of Moxley’s earrings. Jon was bleeding profusely and Chris elbowed him several times in the ear. Jericho dominated the next few minutes but couldn’t put the champion away as the blood poured down.

Jon hit a German Suplex but Jericho immediately responded with a Clothesline. Jericho perched Moxley up on the top rope and sent him down with a Hurricanrana for a near fall. Chris wrapped Jon’s leg around the ring post and applied a Figure Four. Back in the ring, Jericho went for the Judas Effect but Moxley was ready for it. Jon countered into a Crossface in the middle of the ring. Chris escaped and applied the Walls of Jericho.

Chris had Moxley in the Walls for a long time but he refused to quit. Moxley tried to escape but Chris booted him in the face a few times before locking in the Walls of Jericho once again. Moxley began to fade but somehow managed to get to the bottom rope to break the hold.

Moxley sent Jericho out of the ring and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Jon hit a Crossbody on the floor before bringing Chris back into the ring. Moxley made his way back to the top rope but leaped into a Codebreaker this time. Jericho went for the cover but Jon kicked out at the last moment.

Jericho got annoyed and started taking off the turnbuckle padding. He threw one out of the ring and Aubrey Edwards cartoonishly went out of the ring to get it. Sammy Guevara launched a tire iron into the ring for Jericho during the distraction from the crowd. He overshot Jericho and Chris had to go get it on the outside of the ring as referee Aubrey Edwards continued to be distracted by a turnbuckle pad somehow. Jericho bashed Moxley over the head but Moxley kicked out at two. Jon got Jericho in the Bulldog choke in the middle of the ring for the submission victory.

After the match, Jericho Appreciation Society rushed the ring before Blackpool Combat Club made the save. ROH Champion Claudio Castagnoli unloaded some strikes along with Wheeler Yuta. Some more members of JAS ran to the ring to continue the brawl. AEW Champion CM Punk made his return and beat up JAS before punching Jericho in the face a couple of times. CM Punk Clotheslined Jericho out of the ring as the crowd erupted. CM Punk trash talked with JAS as they retreated.

The crowd broke out in a CM Punk chant as he stood in the ring with Jon Moxley. Jon turned around and stared at CM Punk. The Interim Champion gave the AEW Champion the middle finger before exiting the ring. Moxley celebrated with the Blackpool Combat Club as CM Punk hopped around to show his foot is fine to close the show.
