Matt Cardona: “I Want To Have Ric Flair’s Last Match for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship”

0

Matt Cardona has a dream match in mind.

The current NWA world’s champion recently spoke with Phil Strum on his Under The Ring program about a potential showdown with the Nature Boy, one that Cardona not only wants, but is willing to put the Ten Pounds of Gold on the line.

“Would it be too cheap to say that I want to have Ric Flair’s last match for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship? I mean that’s the talk of the wrestling business right now, Ric Flair having one more match.”

News broke last month that Flair, at 73, would be returning to the ring for one final matchup on July 31st in Nashville, Tennessee. His opponent has yet to be revealed. Speaking on that…Cardona states that while that bout will be great, a title match with him would be better, especially since Flair’s name is forever linked to the NWA.

“I’ve heard the rumors of what the match will be. I’m sure it’s gonna be a great match. I’m sure it’s gonna be fun for everybody. But don’t you think his last match ever should be for the Ten Pounds of Gold. You think of NWA, you think of the Ten Pounds of Gold, you think of Ric Flair, ‘The Nature Boy.”

Cardona later adds that Flair has the opportunity to become a 17-time world champion, and that because of that, their matchup is likely to sell-out an arena.

“Does he want to be a 17-time champ? If he does, I got the Ten Pounds of Gold. I could put Sweet Charlotte on the line. Think about it. ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. ‘Always Ready’ Matt Cardona for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Tell me that does not sell out an arena.”

Unfortunately for Cardona, he is currently dealing with an injury and will be out of action for up to five months. He was scheduled to face Nick Aldis for the NWA championship at the June 11th Alwayz Ready pay-per-view, but it has not been determined how the promotion will move forward due to the injury.

Kairi Sane Explains her Decision to go to WWE & her Decision to Leave

0

Former WWE Superstar KAIRI (Kairi Sane) has opened up about joining and leaving Vince McMahon’s promotion.

KAIRI began wrestling for WWE in 2017 and captured the NXT Women’s Championship and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, the latter with Asuka.

In an interview with ENTAME Next, KAIRI recalled her reasons for leaving Japan and signing with WWE.

“I decided to go to WWE because I wanted to experience the top level and grow… I often traveled to the United States and Europe with Mayu (Iwatani) and Io (Shirai). When I saw how excited the audience was there, it made me want to compete overseas. I also had a fundamental sense of urgency that I could not just maintain the status quo.”

Speaking about her formative years in NXT, KAIRI said she struggled with promo class which was done entirely in English, but appreciated the language classes given twice a week to her by WWE.

In 2020, KAIRI requested to return to Japan and WWE granted her request, writing her off TV with a backstage attack by Bayley.

The former Superstar explained that a promise made upon her departure from Japan fueled her reason to return.

“When I left Japan in 2017, I promised my fans that I would go on a long journey, but that I would come back grown up. I told that to President Rossy Ogawa (now Executive Producer). In the first place, my goal was to learn first-class professional wrestling, and I didn’t really intend to live permanently in the US.”

The COVID-19 Pandemic also proved to be a pivotal point in KAIRI’s decision.

“[When the Pandemic hit] I thought, “Where am I going to go from here? I had a sense of accomplishment that I had fulfilled my promise to my best friend and that I had done everything I could in my three years with WWE, and after several consultations with WWE, I decided to leave.”

KAIRI remained with WWE, serving as an ambassador for the company in Japan until her contract expired in December 2021.

Jeff Jarrett Claims AJ Styles Was ‘Essentially Forced Out’ of IMPACT

0

WWE Hall Of Famer Jeff Jarrett claims AJ Styles was essentially “forced out” of IMPACT Wrestling before joining WWE.

Jarrett recently took to his podcast, “My World” and touched on Styles departing from IMPACT in 2014. This was just as Jarrett was making his exit from the company towards the end of 2013.

The WWE Hall of Famer notes Styles’ money was being cut, but the promotion didn’t want to cut his dates. IMPACT also began treating Styles, one of the founding pillars of the promotion, rather harshly, essentially forcing him to make the move to leave.

“I resigned December 21, 2013. In early December is when the Carter’s put the nail in the coffin for me and Toby (Keith) to acquire majority interest. We knew it was game, set, match.

“It was not happening. I knew I had to go. I knew Dixie’s position on all of it because of the, for lack of a better word, the financial de-spiral the company was in.

“AJ’s money was getting cut. They wanted to cut AJ’s money but not dates. He said, ‘If you cut my money, I’m cutting my dates.’ It was not just AJ’s contract. It was everybody’s. He was a complete, utter mess.

“AJ was so willing to commit to the product that he was willing to re-sign. I found this out later. They said some awful things and had devalued AJ. They basically forced AJ against his will to leave.

“That’s how committed AJ Styles was to the brand. He was TNA through and through. He had to be essentially forced out.”

Styles had been with IMPACT since 2002. Over the course of his career with the promotion, he racked up a plethora of titles and accolades, including two TNA World Heavyweight Championship runs, six X Division Title wins, and a three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

After departing from IMPACT in 2014, Styles made appearances for Ring Of Honor (ROH), New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and various independent promotions. However, in January of 2016, Styles finally made his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble.

“Road Dogg was very instrumental in bringing AJ into WWE because of his position at the time with the company.

“AJ was such a tried and true, and committed to his core. He was going to go back to IMPACT with Doc and Karl before he signed with WWE. He was that committed to the brand.”

Major WWE Superstar Reportedly Turns Babyface

0

One major WWE Superstar has reportedly turned babyface after this week’s Monday Night RAW.

As seen yesterday on RAW, WWE Hall Of Famer Edge is out of The Judgement Day Faction. Finn Balor was introduced as the newest member of the group, before the trio attacked Edge and kicked him out.

Balor has seemingly been positioned as the faction’s new leader. PWInsider reports that the attack on Edge has led WWE to move Edge over to the “babyface” side of their internal roster.

This comes quite close to the announcement that Cody Rhodes, previously the top babyface on RAW, was announced to need surgery, and will be sidelined for some time. Rhodes will undergo surgery Wednesday, and his recovery time is expected to be around six months.

As for The Judgement Day, the faction of Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley defeated Balor, AJ Styles, and Liv Morgan at the Hell In A Cell premium event over the weekend, with Balor taking the pinfall.

However, Balor joined the faction the following night, before joining Priest in attacking Edge and kicking him out of the group. To close out RAW, Rhea Ripley picked up a Fatal Four-Way win to earn the next shot at the RAW Women’s Title against Bianca Belair at Money In The Bank.

Since kicking out Edge, Balor and Priest have been taunting “The Rated-R Superstar” on social media. Edge has yet to comment on the betrayal as of this writing.

The Judgement Day started at WrestleMania 38 when Damian Priest assisted Edge in picking up a win over AJ Styles at “The Show Of Shows.”

WWE Teases New Tag Team on Monday Night Raw

WWE may be forming a new tag team on the Raw brand.

It’s no secret that the WWE women’s tag team division is lacking. This was evident even before Sasha Banks and Naomi made their abrupt exit from the May 16 episode of Raw.

Now that the tag titles are vacant and WWE plans to run a tournament, the lack of depth is even more prevalent.

Alexa Bliss & Liv Morgan Forming Team?

During the June 6 episode of WWE Raw, Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan competed in a fatal four-way to determine the number one contender for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship. Also involved in the match were Rhea Ripley and Doudrop.

Ripley ultimately won the match but fans took notice of potential team chemistry brewing between Alexa and Liv.

The two were working together quite often throughout the match and appeared to enjoy the success they were having.

Late last month, it was reported by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament was essentially “dead in the water” due to a lack of teams.

If the teamwork from Alexa and Liv is any indication, the company may be looking to add depth to the division.

Cody Rhodes Expected to Make Full Recovery if Surgery Goes Well

There’s some good news for fans of Cody Rhodes and WWE officials.

Cody has taken the wrestling world by storm since making his return to WWE. Rhodes left AEW back in February and served as Seth Rollins’ mystery opponent at WrestleMania 38 back in April.

Since his return to WWE, the company has treated him as a top star but “The American Nightmare” has hit a bump in the road.

Full Recovery Expected

Ahead of his Hell in a Cell match with Rollins, Cody Rhodes completely tore his pectoral tendon off the bone while training. Despite his pec and arm almost being completely bruised, Rhodes toughed it out and defeated Rollins a third time.

Cody is set to undergo surgery this week and the recovery time could be anywhere from four to six months.

Former WWE surgeon, Dr. Chao recently appeared on Busted Open Radio. During his appearance, he revealed that Cody should be able to fully recover if the surgery goes well.

“I expect a full 100% recovery. For him to get as good as he can be, it might be six months. By four months, I think it’s realistic he could do some wrestling and maybe even three months a little bit of careful scripted stuff.”

Toni Storm Says WWE Didn’t “Give a Sh*t” About Her Before Quitting

0

Toni Storm is speaking out about her departure from WWE, claiming that the company did not “give a sh*t” about her prior to her decision to leave.

Storm debuted for WWE in 2017 and in January 2019, won the NXT UK Women’s Championship from Rhea Ripley.

After being called up to SmackDown in 2021, Storm requested her release last December which was granted immediately.

“I’m not going to succeed here”

Toni Storm Pie Face
Toni Storm did not last long in WWE after getting called up to the main roster

Speaking on The Sessions, Storm told Renee Paquette on her thought-process the day she decided to leave.

“It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. A lot of people don’t enjoy it at all. For some people it just works out and for others, it just makes them miserable, and I guess I just fell into that category. I guess it just wasn’t for me at that point.

Storm continued, “They don’t give a shit, so why should I? This isn’t going to work. I know what’s going to happen here. I’m just going to be sent back to catering again. I’m not going to succeed here. I can just see.”

Storm debuted for AEW in March 2022, defeating The Bunny to qualify for the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

Immediately after, Tony Khan confirmed that the former Superstar was All-Elite in a tweet.

The New Zealand-born wrestler defeated Jamie Hayter in the quarter-finals but lost to eventual winner Dr. Britt Baker in the semi-finals.

WWE Raw Superstar Not Happy With How He’s Being Used

One superstar on the WWE Raw brand hasn’t been pleased with how things have been going for him.

In any line of work, people will be unhappy. Others thrive in their situation, however. When it comes to this particular superstar, frustration is beginning to mount but it may be resolved with a simple opportunity.

T-Bar None Too Pleased With Usage

WWE Raw superstar T-Bar has taken to his Twitter account to make it clear that he doesn’t think he’s in an ideal spot with WWE at the moment.

His good friend, Keith Lee, chimed in and agreed that he should get a better opportunity.

T-Bar’s biggest opportunity in WWE by far was The Retribution faction. The problem is, many considered that group to be death television through no fault of the talent.

The stable was essentially doomed from the start as they looked no different from the set of ninjas who were chasing Akira Tozawa when first introduced.

Once the faction was split up, T-Bar became a regular on WWE Main Event and was only used on episodes of Raw to get squashed by the likes of Omos.

Whether or not WWE will give T-Bar the chance he’s asking for remains to be seen. Many have praised his work outside of WWE.

AEW Star Admits Paying Homage to Triple H on TV

One AEW star has confirmed suspicion from fans that he’s been paying homage to Triple H.

On the April 22 episode of Rampage, fans noticed something interesting about the attire of one particular star. This athlete went one-on-one with Eddie Kingston but he was rocking a Kangol hat during his entrance.

Many assumed this was a tribute to “The Game.”

Daniel Garcia Pays Homage

As it turns out, Daniel Garcia was indeed rocking the Kangol hat in honor of WWE legend Triple H. Here’s what Garcia said about the entrance attire during an appearance on Talk is Jericho.

“In real life, I’m really into streetwear and workwear, stuff like that. I wear really baggy clothing, but I knew I couldn’t do baggy pants and a baggy shirt. I know I would look like 120 lbs soaking wet.

“So I figured ‘Okay, I can keep the baggy pants because I just look better in that. I’ll just wear a tight tank top or top as if I took a baggy shirt off.’

“But then one day, I can’t remember exactly what it was, what made me think of it, but I just thought to myself ‘Man, Triple H used to always wear that backward leather hat.’ I was like ‘He always used to wear that backward leather hat.’

“And it’s funny because, on my Snapchat, something popped up at my wrestling school that I train at. My trainer has a Shawn Michaels costume from the 90s, and it came with the leather hat.

“And I, this is my first couple months of training, I put it on backward and I’d do Triple H impressions at the gym.”

Jim Cornette Thinks Liv Morgan is “Too Girly” for Wrestling Business

Jim Cornette has another take that is sure to ruffle some feathers.

Liv Morgan become a bit of a favorite to WWE fans. She has been praised for her efforts and some believe she should be pushed to world title status someday.

Don’t tell that to Jim Cornette, who believes Liv is “too pretty” for the wrestling industry.

Cornette Not Sold on Liv

During an edition of his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the former WWE manager said he doesn’t feel Liv belongs in the wrestling business.

“They’ve been fighting every week, Liv Morgan does not grow on me, she is too girly to be a wrestler. Rhea Ripley has to not only bend over backward but has to do the limbo to make it believable that Liv Morgan is hanging in there with her, right?

“But when Rhea and Liv got in there, again Ripley is everything I like about women’s wrestling and Morgan is the opposite. She’s too small, her sh*t it’s awkward, she’s trying to do sh*t to bigger people and they’re trying to let her, it doesn’t come across. I don’t… she’s too pretty… I just don’t see it.”

Morgan took part in a mixed six-person tag team match at Hell in a Cell. She also competed in a fatal four-way to determine the number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Rhea Ripley won the contender match by pinning Doudrop. Meanwhile, WWE teased the possibility of Liv Morgan and Alexa Bliss becoming a team.

Vince McMahon once Yelled at Bray Wyatt for Not Doing Spider Walk

0

WWE CEO Vince McMahon was left furious at Bray Wyatt for not doing a spider walk during a match, Matt Hardy has claimed.

Wyatt was with WWE until 2021 when he was released in July, shocking fans who had enjoyed the last two years of his tenure as part of the Firefly Funhouse.

Before Wyatt’s transformation in 2019, he teamed with Matt Hardy, with the pair capturing the RAW Tag Team Championships at the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the AEW star recalled McMahon’s irate reaction after a match.

”He [Vince McMahon] said ’Bray, why didn’t you do that spider walk. What’s wrong with you. You’re not in shape, can you not do it anymore?’ He really laid into him and then he said, ‘you’re not even playing the gimmick’. It was just like reaming.”

This is just the latest example of the strange relationship McMahon had with the former two-time Universal Champion.

During an earlier episode of his podcast, Matt said that Bray often seemed like a son to the WWE Chairman.

“When he would do things that he liked, he would love him and he would really give him everything that he could possibly give him. He would bend over backward to try and accommodate him. But then when he did something he didn’t like, he hated, like he was going to lock him away for good.”

Wyatt hasn’t wrestled since his release from WWE and has been focussing on a movie project with Jason Baker.

Kevin Owens Reacts To Latest John Cena Tease

0

John Cena has been teasing a match with the current US champion Theory recently. Kevin Owens has now responded to his latest tease.

The Cenation Leader called the current champion his favorite WWE star during a recent Q&A. The two then made social media posts referencing each other.

The latest such post from Cena was a picture of the United States title. Kevin Owens reacted to this photo on Twitter and he called out John by his full name:

The promotion has since confirmed that John Cena will be returning to the company very soon. He will make an appearance on the June 27 episode of Raw to celebrate his 20-year anniversary with WWE.

John Cena and Kevin Owens

There is no word yet on if Cena will stick around or if his appearance will be a one-off thing. Both ways, it’s possible that they will use this appearance to set up his next feud.

The last time the Cenation Leader held the US championship was in 2015. He helped elevate the title to new heights with his open challenges.

It was during this title reign when Kevin Owens made his main roster debut and confronted John Cena. It’d be interesting to see if they get to reignite this rivalry when John returns.

Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch Trade Verbal Barbs After WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 loss

0

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has said that Becky Lynch seems a “bit off” following the latter’s defeat at Hell in a Cell 2022.

At last Sunday’s Premium Live Event, Lynch lost a triple threat match to Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair which also included Asuka.

On Twitter, Stratus responded to a fan who said they’d love to see Stratus have a role as a WWE authority figure which would lead to a match with Lynch,

While Trish said the match would be a “SPECTACLE” and that Becky Lynch is a “great asset” to the Women’s division, the Canadian legend said that Lynch is a “bit off.”

Responding, the WWE Raw Superstar said that the only ‘off’ she is is “off the charts.”

Stratus’ last match came at Summerslam 2019 when she lost to Charlotte Flair.

The deconstruction of Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch was for years WWE’s unquestionable top female Superstar, holding her own against every opponent.

Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, and Sasha Banks are just some who fell to Lynch’s time on top, but things are much different now.

Since losing the Raw Women’s Title to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38, Lynch has become increasingly more chaotic and desperate to regain the championship, something that she’s failed to do so far.

On this week’s Raw, Lynch lost to 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke in the latest setback for “Big Time Becks.”

While the match saw interference by Asuka, the fact that Lynch lost to Brooke (an opponent of far lower standing than her) is telling.

Lynch’s failure to capture the WWE 24/7 Championship also serves as the deconstruction of her character, from confident headliner to paranoid challenger.

Matt Cardona: ‘When I Was Unhappy In WWE, I Didn’t Walk Out Mid-Raw’

0

Matt Cardona faced many ups and downs during his WWE career. Though he didn’t walk out of Raw mid show when he was frustrated and he did something about it.

The former WWE star recently appeared on Under The Ring podcast of Phil Strum. He discussed things such as the upcoming Alwayz Ready PPV and more.

Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of WWE has been a hot story recently. Cardona mentioned how he too was unhappy with his position in 2011, but instead of walking out he did something different:

“The Z! True Long Island Story, 2011, I wasn’t happy with my position in WWE. I didn’t walk out, mid-Raw, I did something about it. I changed my future, I worked my ass off, I took a chance, and I started that show.

That YouTube show was all me. Editing it, writing it, filming it, putting it out.” said Matt Cardona, “The fans took to it because this is organic.”

The current NWA champion mentioned how the production quality of his show was not good because he was the only one working on it.

However, fans saw his hard work and appreciated his efforts. Per Matt Cardona, he formed a bond with a lot of fans during that time that he still has to this day.

Eric Bischoff Says MJF Is ‘In Universe All His Own’ After Dynamite Promo

0

MJF has blurred the line between reality and fiction with his ongoing storyline. He has even managed to impress Eric Bischoff with his character work.

The former WCW president talked about the AEW star on Strictly Business podcast. He opened up about MJF’s recent Dynamite promo where he called out Tony Khan.

Bischoff mentioned how there aren’t many people in the industry who can catch up to the former MLW star. He claimed that MJF is ‘in a universe all his own’:

“In my opinion, MJF is without peer. He is so good.” said Eric Bischoff, “There are a handful, one or two people in WWE who are capable of catching up to that, but there aren’t many. He’s in a universe all his own, in my opinion.”

The former SmackDown Executive Director also gave his opinion on whether the storyline between MJF and Tony Khan is a work or shoot. In Bischoff’s opinion, it’s something that started out as very real.

Though both sides woke up one day and realized that they have worked themselves into a corner, so they turned it into a story. However, Eric said that he doesn’t care if he is right or wrong because the potential in this story is off the charts.

Reason Pat McAfee Was Not At Hell In A Cell

0

A number of notable stars missed the Hell In A Cell PPV. One such name who was surprisingly not at the show was SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee.

The former NFL player talked about the PPV among other things on the latest episode of his podcast. He discussed the various matches that took place on the show.

McAfee also noted how the event featured only one match from SmackDown brand. He explained that all parties agreed that it was not worth it for him to make the trip to Chicago to call just one bout:

“I was not at Hell in a Cell, SmackDown only had one match and all parties agreed that it was probably not worth the trip to Chicago and back for that. It ended up being a 13-minute match,”

The match in question saw Madcap Moss defeat Happy Corbin. In the absence of Pat McAfee, Michael Cole was joined by Raw’s Corey Graves for the commentary of the bout.

Apart from this, the former NXT star discussed Cody Rhodes’ injury which has been the buzzing topic of discussion for the past couple of days. He revealed that he thought it to be a work at first. His perception changed as soon as Rhodes took off his jacket.

Natalya Responds To Matt Hardy’s Comments About Physicality Of Wrestling

0

In the era of the internet, many wrestling fans think that they know the wrestling world inside and out. Matt Hardy is here to remind you that it’s not the case.

The AEW star recently made a tweet about the reality of wrestling. He noted that it’s a very physically demanding career. According to Hardy, fans have become ‘desensitized’ to how dangerous it all is:

“Many fans have became desensitized to how physical & dangerous pro wrestling truly is. Maybe it’s because they *think* they understand what we do.” wrote Matt Hardy, “Every match is physically taxing. Most wrestlers are banged up before their matches. It’s not theater. It’s insanely physical.”

Natalya Agrees With Matt Hardy

WWE veteran Natalya agreed with this sentiment. She replied to Hardy with a tweet of her own, saying that she loves her fans and is grateful for her phenomenal career, but it also came with many sacrifices:

“I absolutely love what we do and I adore our fans. But yes, every single match is a risk. And most of us are banged up prior to our performances because what we do is so physical. Truly grateful for such a phenomenal career, but there’s a ton of physical sacrifices made.”

What Happened After June 6 WWE Raw Went Off The Air

The cameras have stopped rolling for the June 6 episode of WWE Raw and here’s what happened after the show.

This week’s Monday Night Raw took place inside the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI. Things got started with a promo from Cody Rhodes with him stating he still has his sights set on Money in the Bank despite being scheduled for surgery this week.

Seth Rollins made his way out to give his “respect” to Cody. It was all a ruse as Rollins returned with a sledgehammer to attack “The American Nightmare.”

Fans also got to see a new member of The Judgment Day enter the faction, while the group’s leader was kicked out.

After The Show

There was no dark match once WWE Raw went off the air. Instead, Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair addressed the crowd.

She had been sitting ringside for the fatal four-way number one contender match. Rhea Ripley ended up winning that match and she will be getting the next title opportunity.

WWE also held its Raw Talk show. During the show, Riddle vowed to show up on the June 10 episode of SmackDown. He also said that eventually, he will take the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns.

Finn Balor Joins Judgment Day, Edge Kicked Out Of The Group

0

As advertised, Edge revealed the latest member of The Judgment Day faction on Monday Night Raw and it’s Finn Balor. However, there was a twist.

Edge, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest came out to the ring for a promo. Edge talked about how proud he is of them and says Rhea is a superstar wrecking machine. He said Priest has confidence like no other because they listened. He introduced the newest member of the group, which was Balor.

At Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event, Judgment Day went over AJ Styles, Balor, and Liv Morgan in a six-person tag team match.

Edge said Balor reached out and put Balor over for being so great. Edge wanted to know what made Balor change his mind. Balor said he saw clarity after Hell in a Cell and joining the group was a calling that he refuses to fight because he’s tired of pretending who he is.

Priest said they were finally to let go of what was the last thing holding them back, which was Edge. They beat down Edge and kicked him out of the group. Edge was seemingly written off TV after Priest hit him with a chair.

Over the last few weeks, The WWE Hall Of Famer has been teasing that the group would be getting another member and hinted at several different names including Ciampa, Paige, Beth Phoenix, and Corey Graves.

John Cena Returning To WWE Raw Later This Month

0

WWE announced on this week’s episode of Raw that John Cena will be returning to television on the June 27th episode of Raw from Laredo, TX to celebrate his 20-year anniversary with the company.

A video package hyping his career with the company over the last 20 years aired before the announcement was made. As of this writing, he is not advertised for any other WWE shows, but that could be changing as when he usually returns, it’s not for a one-off, but rather a short run.

John Cena returns to WWE Raw
John Cena returns to WWE Raw on June 27, 2022

There will be speculation that Cena is returning to start a feud with Theory as they’ve been trading words as of late. Theory previously pitched the idea of facing Cena at SummerSlam which just so happens to take place on July 30th.

Cena recently named Theory as his favorite current star and someone when asked who needs an attitude adjustment, the name of Cena’s finisher. Theory has been reported compared to Cena as Vince McMahon sees him as a younger version of the former WWE Champion.

Cena last wrestled on TV at SummerSlam last year where he lost to Roman Reigns for the Universal Title.

WWE RAW Results (6/6/22): Seth Rollins Attacks Cody Rhodes, The Judgement Day, Fatal 4-Way

0

WWE RAW aired live this week from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was the first episode of RAW following WWE Hell in a Cell. In addition to the takeaways below, it was announced that John Cena will be returning on the June 27th episode of RAW to celebrate 20 years in WWE.

  • Street Profits def. The Usos via count-out in a Championship Contender’s match
  • Veer Mahaan def. Dominik via DQ
  • Omos def. Cedric Alexander
  • Ezekiel def. Otis
  • Rhea Ripley def. Doudrop, Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss in a Fatal 4-Way to earn a shot at the RAW Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

Seth Rollins Attacked Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes kicked off the show to a great reaction from the crowd. They chanted “thank you Cody!” as he said that is a privilege to do what he does. Rhodes called Rollins one of the best wrestlers ever, but he is now officially done with Seth. Cody took a look at the MITB briefcases above them and how the contract inside has alluded him his entire career.

Rhodes wondered if there might be a way for him to win the match in four weeks and challenge for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. Seth Rollins interrupted and joined Cody in the ring. Rollins grabbed a microphone and told Cody that he still does not like him.

Rollins complimented Rhodes and added that he has earned his respect. Seth noted that the world is saying that it is one of the gutsiest performances in wrestling history and claimed that Cody is the toughest person he’s been in the ring with. Rollins added that Dusty is very proud of his baby boy and Cody got choked up.

Seth extended his hand and Cody shook it. Rollins whispered something in Cody’s ear and exited the ring. Cody waved to the crowd on the entrance ramp and Seth bashed him in the back of the head with a sledgehammer. Rollins drove the sledgehammer into the torn pec and taunted Cody to end the segment.

Asuka Helped Dana Brooke Retain The 24/7 Title Over Becky Lynch

Dana Brooke won the 24/7 Championship while Becky Lynch was in the ring. Lynch then challenged Dana Brooke to a 24/7 Championship match as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Becky hit Dana with an Exploder Suplex and some kicks. Lynch followed it up with another Exploder Suplex and then a third.

Asuka’s theme hit and she made her way to the ring. Lynch hit a fourth Exploder Suplex but got distracted by Asuka. Dana rolled Becky up for a two count. Lynch got pissed and leveled Dana with a Clothesline. Dana battled back with some punches and then a Splash in the corner. Dana connected with a running Bulldog and went for the cover but Big Time Becks kicked out at two.

Dana climbed to the top turnbuckle and went for a Senton but Becky got out of the way. Lynch went for the Man-Handle Slam but once again got distracted by Dana Brooke. Dana rolled Becky up and Asuka held Lynch’s legs down. Dana Brooke retained and Asuka laughed at Lynch after the match.

Riddle def. The Miz, Issued A Challenge For Roman Reigns

The Miz and Maryse hosted an edition of Miz TV with Riddle as their guest. Miz noted that if he wins MITB, it will be his third time and a new WWE record. Miz and Maryse hyped their reality show (Miz & Mrs) season premiere tonight following RAW before Riddle interrupted. Riddle made his way to the ring on his scooter and said spoke French to Maryse.

Riddle gave another shoutout to Randy Orton and Miz got annoyed. Miz claimed that Randy Orton’s career is over and Riddle is going to get his ass kicked every week by The Bloodline. Riddle told Miz to shut the hell up and let him finish what he was going to say. Riddle vowed to take the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship from Roman Reigns because he took Orton out.

Riddle added that Maryse drags Miz around by his tiny balls and a “tiny balls!” chant broke out. Maryse informed everyone that The Miz has average sized balls and then shouted that they are huge after Miz got even more annoyed. Maryse then made matters worse by accepting a challenge on Miz’s behalf against Riddle. Miz said this is his premiere party and he’s in a tuxedo. Miz declined and Ciampa showed up out of nowhere. Ciampa attacked Riddle from behind and leveled him with a knee to the head. The Miz then accepted the challenge after Ciampa’s attack.

The match started after a commercial break and Riddle hit Miz with a Powerslam. Riddle followed it up with a DDT and geared up for the RKO. Riddle went for it but Miz shoved him away and rolled out of the ring. Maryse pulled Miz out of the way of a kick but Riddle still caught up to him. Riddle ripped Miz’s suit pants and Miz was now wrestling in his underwear. Maryse gave Miz her purse and distracted the referee. Miz swung the purse but Riddle ducked and then hit an RKO for the pinfall victory.

He told Lashley to get out of his ring but Bobby wanted a fight. Theory agreed to a match and flexed in Bobby’s face. Lashley flexed to show that he has bigger muscles and suggested Theory put the United States Championship on the line.

Theory told Lashley that he doesn’t deserve it and boasted about being the youngest United States Champion in history. Theory went for a selfie but Lashley booted him out of the ring.

Edge told the crowd to close their mouths because he has been doing this for 30-years. Edge told Damian and Rhea that he is proud of them and how much they have blossomed under his learning tree. He added that someone else was listening and introduced Finn Balor as the newest member of The Judgement Day.

Edge stated that Finn Balor is one of the most talented men to ever step foot in the ring and wondered how this came to pass. Balor said he had clarity last night and to join The Judgement Day wasn’t a choice, it was a calling. Balor is tired of being someone that he is not and noted that Damian & Rhea fought with more conviction last night than he’s ever seen.

Damian Priest said it is now time to get rid of Edge and they all attacked Edge. Damian slammed Edge through a table with the Razor’s Edge. Indie Wrestler Peed on Herself During Mia Yim Match

Wrestlers have dealt with many unforeseen circumstances in the ring and bowel movements are no exception.

We’ve seen wrestlers admit that they once dropped a deuce while in the ring. Back in late 2013, CM Punk did indeed take a number two during a WWE SmackDown match with The Miz.

In the case of Mia Yim, it was her opponent who had some loose fluid.

Mia Yim’s Opponent Pees Mid-Match

During an interview with Metro, Mia Yim revealed that an unnamed wrestler once peed on herself during their match at an independent show.

“I mean, as far as embarrassing stuff, I wrestled a match – this was many, many years ago and it was on the independents – where a girl peed in my match, and it was weird. Yeah, that was really weird. But it’s okay!

“It happens, you know? It happens. It’s one of those things where you just don’t bring attention to it, just don’t think about it, let’s get through this, and then let’s clean ourselves up.”

Yim currently performs for IMPACT Wrestling. She realigned with the promotion after being released by WWE last year.

Former WWE Champion Returning to Raw Tonight

A former champion under the WWE banner will be returning for the June 6 episode of Monday Night Raw.

HIAC was headlined by the third televised encounter between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins inside the cell. Despite completely tearing his right pectoral muscle, Cody went through with the match and defeated Rollins.

Time will tell if WWE confirms reports of Cody undergoing surgery this Thursday.

Maryse Returns Tonight

Former two-time WWE Divas Champion Maryse will be appearing on tonight’s episode of Raw. She’ll be on the show with her husband The Miz to promote the third season of USA Network’s Miz & Mrs.

During an interview with TV Insider, Maryse was asked if her appearance tonight would be one and done.

“That is really fun that you asked that. I don’t know. Let’s ask the same question Tuesday morning.”

Maryse then teased potentially getting involved in Money in the Bank and SummerSlam this year.

“Well, Money in the Bank is coming up, as well as SummerSlam. SummerSlam is a great one.”

Hiroshi Tanahashi Pitches NJPW Wrestle Kingdom Match With CM Punk

0

Hiroshi Tanahashi wants to give fans the match they were expecting to see at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view event where he was supposed to wrestle AEW World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk.

Last week on Dynamite, the match was revealed for this upcoming show, but was nixed once Punk revealed he had an injury that will result in him getting surgery. Punk will not be able to compete at Forbidden Door.

While speaking to Tokyo Sports (translation via golden_kuma), Tanahashi threw out the idea of Punk competing at Wrestle Kingdom in January against him.

“1.4 Wrestle Kingdom. Punk owes me one. I’d like to invite him to Japan. I’ve been to the US a lot, so come here with a special price. Tokyo Dome is a prestigious stage,” he said.

Tanahashi also talked about the decision that Punk would not give up the title, but instead, an interim AEW World Title will be made while he’s out of action, which will be decided at Forbidden Door with a tournament.

“I think it’s overprotective,” Tanahashi said of Punk not relinquishing the title. “If it were in Japan, you would give up the belt normally. Or maybe he will come back in a short period of time.”

Tanahashi has a chance to compete in the tournament as he will wrestle  Hirooki Goto at NJPW Dominion. The winner of that bout will advance to the finals at Forbidden Door to meet Jon Moxley or the winner of a battle royal.
