Nash Carter Takes First Booking Since WWE Release

Former NXT star Nash Carter has found his first wrestling gig since being released by WWE.

Going back to the “Zachary Wentz” name, Carter has been booked for the Circle 6 and No Peace Underground joint show. The event is scheduled for May 21 in Orlando, Florida.

Nash Carter’s WWE Release

Nash Carter was released by WWE back in April. The move came off the heels of allegations of physical and emotional abuse towards his wife, Kimber Lee.

Kimber alleges that Nash got drunk and punched in her the face, splitting her lip in the process. She went on Twitter and tagged the official account of NXT:

“Hey @WWENXT this is my face after your tag champ @NashCarterWWE got wasted and hit me so hard he split my lip open. He told me I’m a wrestler so I’m always marked up. I’ve hid this for a year and even forgave him. But I can’t hide it anymore.”

What ended up being the final straw for WWE was a photo Lee uploaded of Carter doing the Nazi salute and having a mustache resembling that of dictator Adolf Hitler.

A female friend of Nash took to Twitter to accuse Kimber of making false accusations and simply being bitter that Carter has moved on from her.

“Y’all… @Kimber_Lee90 got served divorce papers by Nash on Monday. He’s been done with her. She’s mad that this is all happening so she’s turning to Twitter because she’s outraged that he doesn’t want to be with her anymore. It really is that simple…”

Carter had been one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions along with Wes Lee. The titles had to be vacated after Carter was given his release.

Former ROH TV Champion Rhett Titus Involved In Car Crash Over The Weekend

0

Pro-wrestling star Rhett Titus recently took to Twitter and announced that he was involved in a car accident over the weekend.

The former ROH television champion says he was driving home from his appearance at the Independent Superstars Of Pro Wrestling event in New Jersey when a car drove head first into him. Fortunately for Titus, he came out of the collision completely unscathed. In his tweet he shares a photo of what the damage was to his vehicle, as well as an update on his condition.

“I AM OK AND NOT INJURED. Driving home from the @ispwwrestling show last night a car drove head on into mine on the Garden State Parkway (which is a one way highway). I am extremely lucky to have been able to walk away from it unscathed.”

Titus has been staying busy working the independent circuit, but it is not known if he will be involved in ROH now that it is owned by Tony Khan. His last appearance for the promotion was at Supercard of Honor, where he dropped the ROH TV title to Minor Suzuki.

Thunder Rosa Compares Rivalry With Britt Baker To The Rock vs. Steve Austin

0

Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker are the top two stars in AEW’s women’s division and with such fanfare behind their feud, it’s one that Tony Khan can go back to when needed.

They had their first match against each other at AEW Beach Break 2021 before their memorable Lights Out match that ended the rivalry for the time being at St. Patrick’s Day Slam 2021.

AEW ran back the feud a year later with Baker beating Rosa at AEW Revolution 2022 before Rosa dethroned Baker in a cage match at St. Patrick’s Day Slam.

Speaking on Under The Ring, Rosa discussed the evolution of her rivalry with Baker. She compared it to The Rock vs. Steve Austin and Trish Stratus vs. Lita.

“The rivalry that we had, it’s real. Now that I took the title from her, it’s not something that is going to end. It’s like The Rock and Stone Cold (Steve Austin), something similar, or Trish (Stratus) and Lita. Something of that sort. Something that is never going to end. Our matches were definitely more physical in terms of female wrestling. We pushed a lot of boundaries that I don’t think people were used to seeing women in the mainstream media, doing something of that sort, especially on the last one.”

Rosa stated they had an opportunity to elevate women’s wrestling to another level with it.

Baker is slated to defend the title against Serena Deeb at AEW Double or Nothing while  Baker is competing in the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament.

RK-Bro Retained The RAW Tag Titles, Will Appear On SmackDown

RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro kicked off the show and made their way to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Orton welcomed the crowd to the show and noted that they lost to The Bloodline last night at WrestleMania Backlash. Randy added that before this is all said and done, we will win the war.

Orton said that nothing was on the line last night because Roman Reigns tore up the contract for the Unification Tag Title match. Orton challenged The Usos again to a unification match and handed the microphone. Riddle said that they are going to SmackDown this week to demand the match from the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

Street Profits (Monez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) interrupted and said that RK-Bro needs to be worrying about them and not The Bloodline. Montez Ford claimed that the Street Profits will be the ones to unify the tag titles. Street Profits then challenged RK-Bro to a title shot right now.

Ford and Riddle started off the action. Montez slammed Riddle to the mat and mocked Orton’s pose as Randy looked on from the apron. Riddle took Ford down and went for an armbar but could not lock it in. Dawkins tagged in and RK-Bro took control the match.

Orton hit Angelo with some uppercuts before bouncing his head off the top turnbuckle. Randy followed it up with some punches as the crowd cheered him on. Riddle tagged back in and hit a Senton for a two count. Ford tagged in and hit a ridiculous flip onto Riddle outside the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Riddle knocked Dawkins to the outside and connected with a running kick to the face. Riddle went for a Floating Bro but Montez pulled Orton in the way. Dawkins hit Riddle with a Spinebuster and Ford followed it up with a Frog Splash. Ford went for the cover but Riddle somehow kicked out. Montez leveled Riddle with an Enziguri and went for another Frog Splash but Riddle countered into an RKO for the pinfall victory. RK-Bro are still the RAW Tag Team Champions.

Theory Isn’t Worried About Cody Rhodes

United States Champion Theory was interviewed before his title defense tonight against Cody Rhodes. Theory claimed he didn’t need to prepare and can do this all day. He added that is he already great while barely scratching the surface of his potential. Theory joked that he was in diapers last time Cody was in WWE and he’s all about the future. Theory closed the promo by saying the future is the United States Champion and took a selfie.

Rhea Ripley Tapped Out Liv Morgan

The Judgement Day (Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley) made their way to the ring as RAW went to a break.

Edge scolded the crowd for not caring about him fighting his way back to wrestle after 9 years. He mocked them for leaving asinine comments and also called everyone in the arena ugly. Edge added that anyone who chooses to live in Hartford are morons and nobody in WWE can touch The Judgement Day.

Damian Priest claimed that individually they were capable of destroying each of your favorites, but together they are something more. They’ve added an “instrument of brutality” and demanded that the crowd all rise for the newest member of The Judgement Day, Rhea Ripley.

Rhea said that joining Judgement Day was the easiest decision of her life. Ripley shouted that she was done signing autographs for kids that just wind up on the internet. She vowed to destroy Liv Morgan later tonight. Edge referred to Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley as his “Saints of Fate”.

Edge said he suggested that Rhea leave Liv behind because she is a human LOL doll holding her down. Edge claimed that his movement isn’t done and they are looking for more. Liv Morgan interrupted and came to the ring for her match against Ripley.

Rhea beat Liv Morgan down in the corner of the ring as Edge & Damian Priest were ringside. Ripley went for a Superplex but Liv blocked it and connected with a Hurricanrana. Morgan followed it up with a Dropkick but Ripley shrugged it off with a big boot to the face for a near fall.

Ripley followed it up with a Clothesline and stomped on Liv’s back. Rhea went for Riptide but Liv escaped. Morgan hit a flurry of punches and an Enziguri. Ripley went for a Clothesline but Liv ducked and countered into a Tornado DDT. Liv hit a Codebreaker and went for the cover but Rhea kicked out at two.

Rhea hopped up and caught Liv with a kick to the face. Ripley dodged a Dropkick and applied a Cloverleaf submission in the middle of the ring. Liv tried to get to the ropes but ultimately had no choice but to tap out. Rhea applied the submission hold again as Edge & Damian Priest mocked Liv Morgan. The Judgement Day then posed in the ring but were interrupted by Finn Balor and AJ Styles. Balor will battle Damian Priest next.

The Judgement Day Sent A Message To AJ Styles & Finn Balor

Damian Priest started off the match in control and stomped Balor down in the corner. Finn connected with a Jawbreaker but Priest shrugged it off and connected with a slam for a two count. Damian then got Balor in a headlock in the middle of the ring. Balor broke free and hit a Russian Leg Sweep.

Balor hit Damian with a Dropkick and a Double Stomp to the midsection. Finn unloaded some chops and rolled Damian up for a near fall. Balor connected with the Slingblade and Clothesline Priest out of the ring. Finn went for a flip but Rhea Ripley stood in the way. Edge then leveled Styles with a Spear to end the match in a DQ. AJ Styles attacked Edge before Rhea Ripley pulled him away.

Edge capitalized on the distraction and bashed Styles into the turnbuckle. Priest hit AJ with a leg sweep as Edge leveled him with a Spear at the same time. The Judgement Day posed once again in the middle of the ring to end the segment.

Lashley Interrupted The VIP Lounge

MVP had Omos as his guest on an episode of the VIP Lounge. Cedric Alexander interrupted and wanted to be a part of their team. Bobby Lashley then interrupted and marched down to the ring. Omos defeated Lashley at WrestleMania Backlash after MVP hit him with his cane.

Lashley took out the security surrounding the ring and launched Cedric into the barricade. Lashley got in a shoving match with Omos and Clotheslined him out of the ring. Bobby was about to attack MVP but Cedric broke it up. Lashley got Cedric in the Hurt Lock as Omos & MVP retreated. Lashley versus Omos in a Steel Cage match was announced for next week’s RAW.

Alexa Bliss Returned, Sonya Deville No Longer A WWE Official

Adam Pearce informed Sonya Deville that she has a match up next against a mystery opponent. Deville came to the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Pearce announced that Sonya Deville is no longer in authority and will battle Alexa Bliss tonight on RAW.

Bliss came to the ring with Lilly as Deville was in shock in the ring. The crowd chanted “welcome back!” as Alexa connected with a DDT. Alexa climbed to the top rope and hit Twisted Bliss for the quick pinfall victory.

Kevin Owens & Alpha Academy Attacked Ezekiel

Kevin Owens came to the ring as “Ken Owens” with an absurd wig and grey beard to confront Ezekiel. Owens introduced himself and Ezekiel said “hello Ken”. Kevin told Ezekiel that nobody is actually buying that he is Elias’ younger brother. Owens asked for a raise of hands for who actually believes that this is Ezekiel. The crowd raised their hands and Owens threw another tantrum.

Owens ripped off the wig and demanded that Ezekiel admit that he is Elias. Ezekiel stated that right now would be the perfect time for Elias to come to the ring and sing Owens a lullaby to calm him down. The two superstars started brawling before Alpha Academy rushed the ring. Otis and Gable beat Ezekiel down in the middle of the ring. Otis hit Ezekiel with a Splash and then Owens followed it up with a Stunner.

Veer Mahaan Dominated

Veer Mahaan faced an enhancement talent (Frank Loman) tonight on RAW. Frank was interviewed before the match and dedicated the match to his three children. Mahaan brutally slammed Loman to the mat a couple of times before leveling him with a Crossbody. Mahaan followed it up with a Side Slam and then a Splash in the corner. Veer hit a Clothesline and locked in the Cervical Clutch for the submission victory.

Seth Rollins Attacked Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes was interviewed backstage ahead of his United States Championship match. Rhodes claimed that the chapter with Seth Rollins is closed and nothing sounds better than “the American Nightmare is the new United States Champion”.

Theory and Cody started off back and forth as the crowd got behind Rhodes. Theory took control for a few minutes and got the challenger in a headlock. Cody escaped but walked into a Clothesline from the champion. Theory hit a Suplex for a near fall and went for another one but Rhodes countered into one of his own. Cody then hit a Dropkick and an Enziguri to sent Theory out of the ring.

Rhodes went for a kick but Theory tripped him up on the apron. Theory cleared off the announce table but Cody caught him with a flurry of strikes. Cody went for Cross Rhodes on the table but Theory escaped back into the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, both superstars went for a Crossbody and collided in the middle of the ring. Cody hit a forearm to the face and followed it up with a Powerslam for a near fall. Cody climbed to the top rope and hit a Moonsault for a near fall. Theory hit an Ushigoroshi and went for the cover but Rhodes kicked out at two.

Cody connected with the Disaster Kick and then the Cody Cutter. Rhodes fired up the crowd but Seth Rollins attacked Cody from behind. Seth tacked Cody out of the ring and unloaded a bunch of punches as the crowd booed. Rollins smashed Cody’s head off the announce table as the crowd chanted “you suck!”. Seth then hit Cody Rhodes with the Stomp on top of the announce table.

Naomi & Sasha Banks Picked Up A Win

Doudrop & Nikki A.S.H. battled the Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi in a non-title match. Naomi and Doudrop started off the match and Doudrop sent Naomi tumbling across the ring. Naomi taunted Doudrop by twerking and wound up getting a Senton for her troubles. Doudrop went for the cover but the tag champ kicked out at two.

Naomi battled back and sent Doudrop to the corner. Sasha Banks tagged in and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Banks went for a Crossbody but Doudrop caught her and connected with a slam. Nikki tagged in and went for the cover but Sasha kicked out.

Nikki hit Banks with some punches before applying a submission hold. Nikki hit a Neckbreaker for a two count and set up for her finisher. Doudrop wanted to be tagged in but Nikki waved her off. Banks knocked Doudrop off the apron and hit Nikki with Double Knees. Naomi covered Nikki for the pinfall victory.

The Miz Helped Ciampa def. Mustafa Ali

Mustafa Ali battled Ciampa this week on RAW. The Miz was the special guest referee for the match. Miz claimed that he was going to call the match right down the middle and that Theory asked Vince McMahon to set this up. Ciampa and Ali locked up to start off the match. Ali hit Ciampa with a chop to the chest and Miz got in between them. Ali rolled up Ciampa but Miz took forever to make the cover.

Ciampa leveled Ali from behind and stomped him down in the corner of the ring. Ali battled back but Ciampa caught him with a boot to the face and turned him inside out with a Clothesline outside the ring. Ciampa hopped on the announce table and gave himself a pat on the back before the action returned to the ring. Ali rolled up Ciamp but Miz was slow with the count. Ciampa got Ali in a choke hold before whipping Mustafa into the turnbuckle.

Ciampa went back to the choke hold but Ali broke free. Mustafa hit a Clothesline of his own and then a Crossbody. Mustafa connected with a Dropkick and then a Neckbreaker. Ali climbed to the top rope but Ciampa got out of the way. Ali hit a Superkick and then a Tornado DDT but Ciampa kicked out after another slow count from Miz. Ali argued with Miz and Ciampa capitalized with a reverse DDT. Miz gave a quick count and scampered away.

Becky Lynch Cost Asuka Her Championship Contenders Match

Becky Lynch came down to the ring to join commentary for the main event. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair battled Asuka in a Championship Contender’s match. The match started with just a few minutes left in the show. Bianca brought Asuka down the canvas as Becky watched on with a heck of a pair of shades on.

Bianca taunted Asuka and the Empress of Tomorrow rolled the champ up for a two count. Asuka hit a Dropkick and went for the cover but Bianca kicked out at two. Belair connected with a Suplex and went for another but Asuka escaped. Asuka rolled Bianca up for a near fall and then transitioned into an Armbar. Belair broke the hold with a massive Powerbomb in the middle of the ring.

Becky Lynch then attacked Bianca Belair and sent her into the steel steps. Bianca Belair won the match via DQ and Asuka lost her title opportunity. This was the third DQ finish of the show. Becky attacked Asuka some more after the match and planted her with the Man-Handle Slam to close the show.

Cody Rhodes Challenges Theory For WWE United States Title On 5/9 Raw

Cody Rhodes will be getting his first championship opportunity since returning to WWE.

While Cody’s ultimate goal is capturing the WWE Championship, going after the U.S. gold along the way doesn’t sound so bad.

That’s exactly what’s happening as WWE has announced “The American Nightmare” will challenge Theory for the title on tonight’s (May 9) episode of Raw.

U.S. Title Also Has Meaning To Cody Rhodes

While Cody’s first title shot in his return to WWE isn’t for the world championship, it still holds significance to his family.

Dusty Rhodes is a former NWA United States Champion, which falls under the same lineage as the WWE United States Championship. Cody’s older brother, Dustin, is a two-time WCW United States Champion.

Cody Rhodes has never held the U.S. hardware in WWE. He’ll have a chance to add it to his mantle tonight and add another piece to the puzzle on the road to the WWE Championship.

Taking to his Twitter account, Cody reacted to the news:

“Time to win the #USTitle – in Hartford – on @USA_Network. TONIGHT! #DoTheWork #DidTheWork @WWE.”

Rhodes is fresh off a pinfall victory over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash. He grabbed a handful of tights to get the win only after Seth attempted the nefarious tactic himself.

WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 Servers to be Shut Down

0

The servers for WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 are to be shut down next month.

In a statement on the official WWE Games Twitter account, it was noted that the servers will be taken offline on June 30 with all online functions being terminated.

This includes online matches and Community Creations, where fans are able to upload their own custom Superstars, titles, and arenas for others to use.

The decision to take these servers offline was so that those involved can turn their “full focus toward supporting WWE 2K22.”

The long road to WWE 2K22

After the dismal launch of WWE 2K20 in late 2019, WWE and 2K Games took a year longer with their next installment, effectively canceling the WWE 2K21 game.

WWE 2K22 was meant to launch in late 2021 but was delayed by the developers who had to update the game to reflect WWE’s roster cuts.

It was reported that the relationship between WWE and 2K had grown strained with WWE 2K22 being seen as a ‘make or break’ game for both parties.

It was reported in March that WWE had been speaking to EA Games about a possible new partner if WWE 2K22 was poorly received.

WWE 2K22 has been met with positive reviews from both fans and critics and earned a 7/10 by SEScoops‘ own Tyriece Simon.

Kenny Omega Thinks Dream Showdown With Roman Reigns Would Surprise a Lot of People

0

AEW superstar Kenny Omega has been out of action since his world championship loss to Adam Page at Full Gear 2021, taking some much needed time off to rehab numerous injuries and undergo several surgeries.

However, this didn’t stop the Cleaner from once again trending on Twitter following last night’s WWE WrestleMania Backlash event from Rhode Island, as many WWE and AEW fans went back on forth on comparing Omega to WWE’s top act, Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief led The Bloodline to victory over Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro at Backlash, continuing his dominant run that began back at SummerSlam 2020.

Omega noticed his name floating around the internet ether and decided to chime in, writing that he doesn’t understand why he was trending considering he’s been on the shelf for the entirety of 2022. He also makes it known that does not enjoy the comparison discourse as it tends to happen between the two every so often.

“Umm, why am I trending? I’ve done nothing but get sliced up and struggle through rehab all this year,” says Omega. “Oh, I see. We’re still doing that comparing thing every show…”

Fortunately things took a positive turn after this initial tweet. When one fan speculated that Reigns couldn’t last five minutes in the ring with Omega the former Belt Collector fired back by praising Reigns for being a hard worker, even hyping up the dream showdown as a match that could surprise a lot of people.

“I’m sure he could (whether Reigns could last five minutes with him). He’s their top guy for a reason and works hard to be that guy. I think the match would surprise a lot of people.”

You can see Omega’s tweets below.

Roman Reigns Hints WrestleMania Backlash was Last Six-Man Tag for The Bloodline

0

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has teased that he will no longer team with his cousins, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos, in six-man-tag team action.

At WrestleMania Backlash, “The Bloodline” defeated Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre in the main event of the evening.

On Instagram, Reigns shared a video from the gym and teased that he and his cousins won’t compete in matches together anymore.

“What if that’s the last six-man-tag you ever see The Bloodline do?”

What’s next for Roman Reigns?

In that same video, Reigns also referenced the reports of him leaving WWE after he hinted at taking some time away during a WWE Live event in Trenton, New Jersey.

“I’m not going anywhere, or am I?”

Roman Reigns

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has reportedly signed a new deal which will see him work fewer dates going forward.

While it is believed that Reigns will one day follow his cousin The Rock to Hollywood, Reigns has been “accommodated and incentivized” to keep WWE as a top priority, a source told Fightful.

It is currently unknown how long Reigns’ new contract lasts or how much he is being paid.

Video: Police Release Body Cam Footage of Tammy Sytch’s Arrest

0

Footage from the arrest of WWE Hall of Famer Tammy ‘Sunny’ Sytch has been released by police in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Sytch was arrested last week and charged with nine felonies, including DUI manslaughter in relation to a three-vehicle accident that killed 75-year-old Julian Lasseter.

In the clip, Sytch is asked to give her full name and date of birth by the police and complies with their request.

Sytch was arrested outside the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach.

Sunny Speaks

Tammy Sytch posted a message on Facebook after getting released from jail. She insists that people “don’t know the real story” and threatens to block any basement dwellers who say anything negative about her.

“If ANYONE says ANYTHING negative about me, you will be blocked and NEVER unblocked.  You don’t know the real story so don’t act like you’re some f***ing journalist when all you do is type from your moms basement.  Done.”

The Charges Against Sytch

It is alleged that in March, Sytch was driving a 2012 Mercedes Benz which crashed into the rear of a 2013 Kia Sorento, Lasseter’s vehicle, which was stopped at a red light.

The Kia then crashed into the rear of a 2011 GMC Yukon, which had also stopped at the light.

The WWE Hall of Famer posted bail on Saturday and has reportedly been ordered not to leave Volusia County, Florida.

Sytch will be arraigned in Volusia County Court on May 31, according to PW Insider.

In a toxicology report, it was found that Sytch’s blood-alcohol level was 0.280 (g/100mL,) three-and-a-half times the legal limit when operating a vehicle.

Paul Heyman Dubs The Bloodline Greatest Faction In Pro Wrestling History

0

Paul Heyman believes The Bloodline is the greatest faction in professional wrestling history.

Shortly after The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and The Usos) defeated the team of RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania Backlash, Heyman took to a backstage interview to hail the trio as the greatest faction in history.

“Doubt? In my mind? No. I mean come on. Let’s shoot from the hip here. The undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns. The longest-reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions of all time, The Usos.

“The Bloodline is the most dominant faction in the pro wrestling/sports entertainment history. You can tell me all about The Four Horsemen. You can tell me all about the nWo.

“You can tell me about D-X. You can tell me about the Heenan Family. You can even tell me about the Dangerous Alliance. There has never, never been a faction as dominant as The Bloodline.”

Heyman didn’t stop there, he doubled down on those claims on Twitter earlier today.

Heyman certainly makes a strong case. Reigns is one of the longest reigning World Champions in history at the moment with over 600 days as Universal Champion. He also holds the WWE Championship, which he won from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38.

The pair headlined Night Two of WrestleMania from Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas in April. Reigns was able to come out on top, bringing even more hardware to The Bloodline. As for The Usos, they currently reign as the SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions.

This is their fifth reign as SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions, and it’s also a record-breaker at nearly 300 days. The duo have established themselves as one of the best tag teams WWE has ever seen.

It will be interesting to see what comes next for The Bloodline after their WrestleMania Backlash victory. Roman Reigns recently inked a new deal with WWE, and is looking for a new challenger for his World Title reign.

As for The Usos, they teased potentially challenging for the RAW Tag Team Titles and unifying the belts, but it appears those plans were put on ice ahead of Backlash.

Tony Khan Reveals What He Looks For When Signing Talent To AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has gone in-depth on what he looks for when trying to sign talent for his promotion.

When Khan got AEW started back in 2019, many wondered how the roster would shake out. As it turns out, AEW has signed a mix of premier talent on the indies, internationally, and formerly of WWE.

He’s even signed some standout athletes who never had a wrestling background.

Tony Khan’s Eye For Talent

AEW star Swerve Strickland had Tony Khan as a guest on his Swerve City podcast. During his appearance, Khan laid out what he’s in search of when doing some scouting.

Athletic Background

“Well, there’s a lot of things. First of all, when you look at their body of work coming in, sometimes you get athletes, like Satnam Singh is a great example or Jade Cargill, where they didn’t have prior experience in pro wrestling, but they were great athletes, actually both of them played basketball at a high level. I thought they were worth a gamble.”

Khan said it’s rare to sign someone who does not have prior wrestling experience. AEW does not have a performance center or developmental system, like WWE.

In-Ring Experience

“It’s a different business model. There are a lot of great people, but for us, we kind of pick our spots when it comes to that thing, because we’re not as much about centralized training all week long.

Khan named Swerve Strickland as someone he saw wrestle elsewhere.

“I had seen a lot of your matches before you came in,” said Khan. “Some other people might not have as much experience as you and might not have had as much success, or really might not be as far along or as developed or as good. There’s other people where it’s hard to track them down.”

Fans have taken notice of AEW’s approach toward building young stars such as MJF, HOOK, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Lee Moriarty. Those names all had some level of wrestling knowledge before being signed to AEW.

As Khan mentioned, Jade Cargill was someone who came in as an athlete outside the wrestling business. Cargill did receive a WWE tryout back in 2019.

She ended up training at the Face 2 Face Wrestling School before transitioning to the Nightmare Factory.

Interesting Note on this Year’s Money in the Bank Stipulation

0

WWE has released a promo video for this year’s Money in the Bank premium live event that sheds some light on how the next “cash-ins” may be handled.

Since the first Money in the Bank ladder match in 2005, the winner has been guaranteed a championship match against a champion of their choosing at any point up to a year.

During WrestleMania Backlash, a commercial aired for Money in the Bank 2022, which takes place July 2nd.

As seen below, Cody Rhodes says the winners of the Men’s and Women’s ladder matches will earn the chance to headline WrestleMania.

“One lucky male and female Superstar will win the chance to main event WrestleMania.”

Cody Rhodes.

Money in the Bank winners have one year to cash in their contracts, including in the main event of WrestleMania. However, WWE has rarely (if ever) invoked “main eventing WrestleMania” when discussing Money in the Bank contracts. Typically, it’s the Royal Rumble winners that earn a shot to main event WrestleMania.

While this should not be taken as a “change” to the Money in the Bank stipulation, it’s interesting that WWE is running with Cody’s comments. This might also provide a hint about how Cody would cash in, if he secures a Money in the Bank contract this year

You can see Cody Rhodes’ comments about cashing in Money in the Bank at WrestleMania in the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaQf4Nc7DeE&feature=emb_title

Money in the Bank 2022

WWE Money in the Bank takes place on July 2, from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue hosted Summerslam 2021.

Earlier this year, Brock Lesnar was rumored for the event as he featured prominently in the promotional material for Money in the Bank but has since been removed from the image.

This is the same as what WWE did with WrestleMania Backlash, as the promotion advertised Lesnar for the show but had no plans on him appearing.

The decision to promote Lesnar for both events before WrestleMania 38 was done to stop fans from realizing that Brock would lose to Roman Reigns at the event in April.

Triple H Reacts to 20-Year Anniversary Of Batista’s WWE Debut

0

Triple H has taken to Twitter to pay homage to the 20-year anniversary of his good friend, Batista’s, WWE debut.

On May 9, 2002, Batista made his WWE TV debut on SmackDown as Deacon Batista, an enforcer for Reverend D-Von. Nobody knew at the time that Batista would go on to become one of the WWE’s biggest and most accomplished stars of all time.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CdVukPxOXum/

Triple H, Batista’s longtime friend and former Evolution stablemate, has taken to Twitter to offer his reaction to the 20-year anniversary of Batista’s WWE debut.

“In the 20 years since @DaveBautista was first introduced to the @WWE Universe, he has never stopped growing and evolving. A main event player, multi-time champion and Hollywood star, one thing has stayed the same: he never stopped chasing his dreams. Congratulations Dave!”

Throughout his time with WWE, Batista was able to rack up six World Title runs. He has shared the ring with some of the biggest performers in WWE history; such as John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, and so many more. Batista is also a four-time Tag Team Title winner and a two-time Royal Rumble winner.

Batista left WWE as a full-time performer in 2010, instead venturing off into the acting world. He certainly found some success in front of the camera, landing major roles in projects such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “The Guardians Of The Galaxy,” “Army Of The Dead,” “See,” and much more.

He also tried his hand in mixed martial arts (MMA), taking a pro MMA fight in 2012 at heavyweight. Batista actually won the fight via first round knockout under the CES MMA banner. It was “The Animal’s” first and only MMA fight to this day.

Batista has since returned to WWE a handful of times for short programs, including his latest against Triple H in 2019. Putting his career on the line against Triple H at WrestleMania 35, Batista was defeated and later announced his retirement from professional wrestling.

Samoa Joe Almost Missed Supercard of Honor

Samoa Joe made a surprise appearance to close the ROH Supercard of Honor show but it almost didn’t happen.

On April 1, ROH held its first show under a new regime. Supercard of Honor took place inside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. In the main event, Jonathan Gresham became the undisputed ROH World Champion, defeating Bandido.

After the match, Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt attacked Gresham. Lee Moriarty attempted to make the save but the numbers game was too much.

Luckily for them, Samoa Joe made his surprise return. He sent Lethal cowering out of the ring and choked Dutt.

Samoa Joe Barely Made It

During an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Joe recalled nearly being unable to make it to Supercard of Honor (h/t Wrestling Inc).

“Oh, absolutely, I know there was weather permitting jets to get to Tampa on time. And a lot of mechanical issues on flights that went out.

“So, I had to end up driving to Cross City, Florida, a small little rural town in the middle of Florida to catch a private jet to get up to the show.

“The best part was, as I arrived to the airport and I walked into this little office, this little man sitting behind the counter looked at me.

“I said, ‘hey man, I am here, I’ve got a jet coming in to pick me up,’ he said, ‘what time?’ I said, ‘I think seven o’clock,’ he said, ‘well, we close a six, man, I’ll see what I can do.’”

Joe has already made waves under Tony Khan’s ROH. He captured the ROH World Television Championship from Minoru Suzuki on the April 13 episode of AEW Dynamite.

He is currently involved in a feud with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and their new muscle Satnam Singh.

Roman Reigns Inks New Deal With WWE (Report)

Roman Reigns seems to have scored a new contract with WWE.

Fans grew concerned this past weekend after footage of Reigns addressing the live crowd in Trenton, NJ surfaced.

Many believed the “Tribal Chief” was teasing retirement as he said he doesn’t know if he’ll be back in Trenton since he’s entering a new phase in his career.

As it turns out, Reigns was actually referring to taking fewer dates going forward. Fightful was the first to report. Apparently, the changes have come courtesy of a new deal.

Roman Reigns Signs New WWE Contract

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting that Roman Reigns has put pen to paper for a new deal with Vince McMahon’s empire.

It’s been said that the deal is for “far less dates,” so don’t expect the “Head of the Table” to be making the house show runs as frequently as he used to.

Such a deal makes sense for Roman. The “Tribal Chief” will turn 37 on May 25, he’s a father, and is incredibly valuable to WWE.

Very few get to call their shots in WWE and Roman is one of those few.

Keeping The Top Dog

It’s no secret that Reigns is the biggest star WWE has at the moment. The company was wise to keep him happy as his absence would leave a huge hole in WWE’s main event scene.

WWE is trying to build talent such as Theory and Bron Breakker but neither are close to taking a top spot in WWE. Especially Breakker, who is still very inexperienced and is learning under the NXT banner.

Rush Teases In-Ring Return, Wants to Wrestle AEW’s Top Stars

0

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Rush is ready to return to in-ring competition and is looking to compete in All Elite Wrestling.

After suffering a knee injury at Glory By Honor on Aug. 21, 2021, Rush has shared that he recovered. However, Rush isn’t signed to ROH. Before the sale to AEW President Tony Khan, ROH had released all talent from their contracts.

Now a free agent, Rush hopes to compete for AEW and wants to compete against the company’s biggest stars. In a tweet on May. 7, Rush expressed a desire to wrestle against Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk.

“For all my fans in America, after 8 months out of the ring, I’m back and stronger than ever. I want Rush vs. Kenny Omega, Rush VS Daniel Bryan, and Rush VS CM Punk,” wrote Rush.

What’s Next for the Ring of Honor Brand Under AEW

Since the purchase of ROH, Khan has featured ROH title matches and had former talent in AEW. On the May. 4 episode of AEW Dynamite, the main event had Mercedes Martinez vs. Deonna Purrazzo for the Undisputed ROH Women’s World Championship. However, it doesn’t seem like a weekly ROH show isn’t happening soon.

Free agents like Rush want to return to ROH or sign with AEW, but it’s unclear if Khan will sign former ROH talent. Wrestling fans are also speculating if ROH will turn into a developmental system like NXT is to WWE. The AEW President shared after the purchase that he’s still unsure about the immediate future of ROH.

Could Another Wrestling Company Sign Rush?

While Rush is interested in AEW, it’s possible that another wrestling company could sign him. A wrestling fan expressed interest in other companies like Impact Wrestling or New Japan Pro Wrestling hiring Rush, which the former ROH champion retweeted. Impact Wrestling has also had former ROH talents wrestling competing for them.

MLW CEO Court Bauer has also expressed interest in Rush. In an interview with Busted Open last year, he shared that he tried to sign Rush before ROH did.

“Rush because I had him before and with my fans, I mean, I have a Spanish language show on beIN Espanol, we always go down to Mexico. We offered him a deal, Ring of Honor countered, and he went with Ring of Honor. I sold out Cicero Stadium with RUSH. I know his [drawing] power. I know the guy’s injured, but I think he’s gonna come back strong”(h/t Fernando Quiles Jr).

The free agent could have plenty of options on who he will sign with next.

Sasha Banks Threw the First Pitch at Fenway Park on Sunday

0

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks appeared at Fenway Park this past weekend to throw out the first pitch.

In a clip uploaded by WWE’s official Twitter account, Banks said this was her first time at Fenway Park and her first baseball game.

In a separate interview, Banks, who is a Boston native, spoke about her career starting off in the city and making it to WWE.

“To go from here to main-eventing a WrestleMania… all my dreams have come true thanks to the WWE.”

Sasha Banks.

In a tweet, Banks said that “she’s the legit boss but y’all knew that” and tagged Mariah Carey, her cousin Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent.

All three of these celebrities have had memorable first-pitch experiences in the past, with Mariah Carey’s throw in Japan spending very little time in the air.

As for her cousin and 50 Cent, both of their throws went wildly off target.

Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox is one of the most iconic baseball stadiums and has been opened since April 1912.

Banks and Naomi will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships this Friday on SmackDown against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

Cody Rhodes Not Interested in Third Match with Seth Rollins

0

Cody Rhodes has said he is not interested in facing Seth Rollins again after defeating the former multiple-time world champion at WrestleMania Backlash.

In the opening match of last night’s Premium Live Event, Rhodes defeated Rollins with a roll-up pin and a handful of tights. It was a bit of tit-for-tat on Cody’s part as Seth had attempted to use the tights for leverage first.

This is Rhodes’ second televised victory over Rollins since returning to WWE, after beating “The Architect” at WrestleMania 38.

In a post-match interview shared by WWE, Rhodes said that he is moving forward and does not plan on having another match with Rollins.

“I think we can walk away on this one. Seth is an amazing, amazing Superstar wrestler, I can’t wait to see what he does next. Whatever he does now, good luck. I’m moving forward.”

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes concluded by wishing Happy Mother’s Day to his mother, his wife, and all the mothers in the world.

What’s next for Cody Rhodes?

WWE RAW After WrestleMania Draws Best Viewership In More Than One Year - Wrestling Inc.

In the post-WrestleMania Backlash interview, Rhodes again made his goals clear.

“After the match, I did the generic symbol for wanting the belt – because it’s real. That’s what I want.”

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes is expected to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at some point in the future, which is currently held by Roman Reigns.

Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) teamed up with Drew McIntyre vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jey and Jimmy) and Roman Reigns at the WWE WrestleMania Backlash event.

WWE made a title unification bout for the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles official on the April 15th edition of SmackDown only to change it on the April 29th SmackDown.

WWE first unified the WWE and Universal Titles in a match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania where “The Tribal Chief” beat “The Beast” in the headliner of night 2. WWE reportedly has no plans to end the brand split.

However, after Reigns and McIntyre mixed it up, WWE decided to make a change to its plans as the company wants to save Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against McIntyre for one of the several upcoming stadium events.

At WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday night, Edge was battling AJ Styles in a WrestleMania 38 rematch which stipulated that Priest was banned from ringside to prevent outside interference based on Priest helping Edge win in their first encounter.

The finish saw a hooded person distract Styles and Edge connected with the crossface choke for the win. Ripley was revealed as that person with dark hair and she joined Edge in laughing after the match.

Shortly after WrestleMania, it was reported former WWE NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and the former Raw Women’s Champion had been pitched to join Edge’s new stable.

As of late, Ripley had been in a team with Liv Morgan where at WrestleMania 38, they took part in a fatal 4-way bout where Naomi & Banks walked away with the Women’s Tag Team Titles after outlasting Ripley & Morgan, Shayna Baszler & Natalya, and Carmella & Zelina Vega.

Charlotte Already Making Excuses Ahead of WrestleMania Backlash

Just ahead of the WrestleMania Backlash event, Charlotte is already prepared to accuse Ronda Rousey of cheating.

Charlotte will be defending her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Rousey tonight (May 8). The action will be held inside the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Charlotte Ready To Take An L?

Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, “The Queen” let it be known that if she can’t successfully retain her gold tonight then it must be due to something nefarious on “Rowdy’s” part (h/t Fightful).

“I have nothing left to prove. I already beat Ronda on the grandest stage. I was the first female to beat her in a singles competition. If she wins or if she has me say I quit, it’s because she cheated.

“I don’t know, it’s hard [to rank my different accomplishments.] They’re also different. I mean, beating Asuka’s streak at WrestleMania 34 was a huge accomplishment. Main eventing WrestleMania 35. But I think beating Ronda just cemented that I’m the top woman here. So every accomplishment has a different feel to it. It was a big one.”

Rousey was indeed pinned by the SmackDown Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 38.

“The Queen” had tapped out to an armbar but the referee never saw it. She hit Rousey with a big boot as she was trying to wake the referee up for the three-count.
