Seth Rollins Unhappy He Was Left Off This Year’s SummerSlam: “A Bit Of A Slap In The Face To Me As A Performer”

0

Today WWE will be invading Cardiff, Wales for their Clash at the Castle premium live event, the company’s first major show in the United Kingdom since the epic SummerSlam 1992 pay-per-view from Wembley 30 years ago.

One of the most highly-anticipated showdowns on the card will be former grand-slam champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins taking on Matt Riddle. The feud, which has been going on for nearly two months, got personal on last week’s Raw when Rollins mentioned Riddle’s real-life issues with his wife during one of his promos, a statement that enraged the Bro and added some extra heat to their encounter.

Rollins and Riddle were originally scheduled to wrestle at SummerSlam last month, but the matchup never officially happened and the two were reduced to a segment that only lasted a few minutes. Rollins spoke about this during his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, and he was quite unhappy with that evening’s booking.

Performing At A High Level

Rollins explains that over the last year he has performed at the top of his game. He had three classics with a returning Cody Rhodes, including what many have called one of the best Hell in a Cell matchups in the last decade. Prior to that Rollins put on clinics with the likes of Roman Reigns, Edge, and was ready to do the same with Riddle at SummerSlam.

“I was a little upset that we had advertised the match, and then not given that to them [the fans]. At the level I had been performing for really the last year, I felt it was a bit of a slap in the face to me as a performer that I wasn’t able to be on what is essentially the second biggest show of the year for us.”

Rollins may not have gotten the chance at SummerSlam, but it will most likely only motivate him more to steal the show at today’s Clash at the Castle.

Seth Rollins Reveals John Cena’s Advice On Shoot Segments

0

The backstage segment between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle on this past Monday’s Raw took this feud to the next level. The two already had tensions brewing up for a long time and Riddle reached his breaking point when The Visionary brought up his divorce into the conversation.

The former WWE Champion spoke to Ariel Halwani ahead of his match with Riddle at Clash At The Castle. He was asked if he crossed the line by bringing up the personal issues of his opponent into the mix. Rollins claimed that it’s not the case. He then revealed what John Cena taught him about shoot segments in wrestling:

‘If It’s On Camera, It’s Fair Game’: Seth Rollins

“I mean, I don’t think so. This was something that I learned from working with John Cena. He always taught me to have a very thick skin when it came to whatever was said on camera because it’s fair game.” said Seth Rollins, “No matter what, if it’s on camera, it’s fair game. It stays out there and lives in that world. Backstage, that’s a different world. Those are two different things.

John always instilled in me, and I always feel the same way. And look, you can bring up anything you want about my personal life. I’ve got plenty of skeletons in my closet that you can talk about if you want, or things that I’m insecure about. You got to be prepared to handle that on the back end. So when you’re out there in front of a camera, I say anything goes.”

5 Bold Predictions For Clash At The Castle & All Out Weekend

0

One of the biggest weekends of the pro wrestling year is upon the fans. WWE’s Clash at the Castle stadium show will be the talk of the UK on Saturday, before a noteworthy NXT When Worlds Collide event effectively closes the door on NXT UK on Sunday. Sunday night, AEW promotes a PPV with a great deal of intrigue around it in All Out.

The weekend is ripe for big happenings that could shift the wrestling landscape. Here are 5 bold predictions for this weekend:

Bray Wyatt Shows Up Somewhere

Bray Wyatt Fiend

Ever since his shocking release from WWE last year, Bray Wyatt has been the most talked about free agent in the business. Not only is he a former WWE Universal Champion, but he’s one of the most unique talents of his generation for his creative vision and character work.

There’s no official word about Wyatt’s future in wrestling (or if he even has one). However, the stage is set for it to make a lot of sense for him to return to the national scene this weekend.

On the AEW side of things, Tony Khan has alluded to the roster having more talent than ever after this Sunday, and signing someone with The Fiend’s name value would certainly contribute to that effort and add a fascinating new dimension to the top of the card.

Meanwhile, in WWE, the company seems to have booked itself into a corner. All indications are they want Roman Reigns to continue his historic reign atop the company. However, Drew McIntyre losing in front of a UK stadium crowd risks sending fans home completely deflated.

One of the few ways to defuse that situation in satisfying fashion would be a huge return, and there’s no bigger return they could book at this moment than Wyatt. While the rumor mill suggests Braun Strowman has re-signed, and he’s probably the next best option, he simply doesn’t have the level of fan investment The Eater of Worlds does, and the crowd would surely recover and pop huge if Wyatt appeared.

CM Punk And FTR Launch A New Heel Faction

CM Punk FTR

There has been no shortage of speculation about CM Punk turning heel coming off his quick, decisive loss to Jon Moxley. The rematch scenario invites him to use underhanded means to reclaim his title in front of a rabid crowd that would probably love him just as much (and maybe more) for playing the villain.

One of the more interesting angles for a Punk heel turn, though, would be for him to not only play the villain, but do so with henchmen at his side, in the faction-rich AEW roster. He and FTR have expressed their pleasure in working together on and off screen. Once the duo finishes their business with Jay Lethal and company earlier in the night, they could transition to this new role at Punk’s side.

Pete Dunne Confronts Bron Breakker

Pete Dunne

Fans have taken some pleasure in seeing Butch slowly morph into something more like his old self as Pete Dunne in recent weeks, including wearing his old ring gear, and appearing on NXT television to acknowledge his past there this week. Now, Dunne feels like one of the most under-utilized talents for WWE’s big weekend centered around the UK.

One way of remedying that situation would be for Dunne to take a bigger step away from the Butch persona, and show up at When Worlds Collide. He’d be an immediately credible challenger to Bron Breakker after he presumably beats Tyler Bate. With even a short run in the main event picture—maybe gearing up to challenge Breakker at Halloween Havoc—WWE could reboot this special talent before he comes back to the main roster with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, or else out on his own.

AEW Sets Up Samoa Joe Vs. Wardlow

Samoa Joe AEW

With Samoa Joe done filming Twisted Metal for Peacock, and rumored to return to AEW action soon, it would only make sense for him to make a surprise appearance at All Out, taking revenge onJay Lethal and company for the kayfabe injury they dealt him. However, fans gave this angle a tepid response in the first place, so it’s probably best AEW not linger on it for too long.

In getting himself involved in the six-man tag team match pitting Wardlow and FTR vs. Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns, Joe could naturally get intertwined in a story with Wardlow. Maybe the big man wouldn’t want Joe’s help, or maybe’s Joe’s attempts at intervening could backfire and hurt Wardlow’s team. Regardless, Wardlow vs. Joe could be a fun next step in the young TNT Champion’s evolution, and a fresh, compelling matchup to throw Joe into.

Gunther Vs. Sheamus Steals The Whole Weekend

Sheamus Vs Gunther

Between the lines ups WWE and AEW have drawn up for the weekend, there’s no shortage of prospective match of the year candidates that could come up. One matchup fans might sleep on, that may wind up not only stealing the show at Clash at the Castle, but emerge as the best bout of the weekend is Gunther vs. Sheamus.

This is a bout between two extremely talented big men, both comfortable working a stiff style, both likely to enjoy a boost from the UK crowd. While NXT and NXT UK fans have seen Gunther put on classics with Ilja Dragunov and Pete Dunne, main roster-only fans may not know what they’re in for here, and this maybe the perfect storm to set up one of the best performances of The Celtic Warrior’s career.

It’s hard to imagine this weekend not being a great one for wrestling fans, who are sure to encounter their share of surprises. That might include ones listed here, or some very different directions for WWE, NXT, and AEW alike.

“They Don’t All Need To Be Friends” – Tony Khan Addresses Backstage Drama In AEW Ahead of All Out

0

AEW President Tony Khan doesn’t appear to be too bothered by professional wrestlers not getting along.

One thing that has been a major topic of discussion as of late is the backstage turmoil in All Elite Wrestling. CM Punk called out Hangman Page to make him look like a coward in front of his hometown crowd in West Virginia. Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara had a backstage altercation that led to The Mad King getting suspended for two weeks. Sammy Guevara also released a statement on the matter and the two wrestlers have claimed that the issue is behind them.

AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa announced that she cannot compete at All Out and reportedly has a fair amount of heat backstage within the women’s division. Miro and Andrade El Idolo have liked posts on social media that suggest they would be better off in WWE, etc.

Despite it all, Tony is remaining positive heading into All Out and doesn’t think that wrestlers not getting along is a bad thing. Speaking with NBC Sports Chicago ahead of All Out at the NOW Arena, Tony was excited about his roster finally getting healthy and addressed the backstage drama within the company at the moment.

I’m actually pretty excited about it. I think our roster is going to be stronger than it’s been in a long time. There is a lot of competition for spots. As long as everybody is being professional, it’s professional wrestling, the first word is professional. The second word is wrestling.

This is not a doll factory or a normal place of business. Our product here is professional wrestling matches. People not liking each other, not getting along, can actually be positive, as opposed to most workplaces where people not getting along is detrimental.

Not everybody needs to get along in the pro wrestling business, they don’t all need to be friends to do this. I’ll be honest, a lot of pro wrestlers don’t like each other, that’s fine with me. I don’t think people watch wrestling to watch people be friends.”

Tony Khan on his roster not getting along

AEW Dynamite has seen its ratings increase the past two weeks heading into All Out. Time will tell if it lasts but for now, the discontent backstage is paying off for the company. You can check out the entire interview in the video below.

FTR and TNT Champion Wardlow made their way to the ring for a promo. Dax Harwood stated that his Trios match at All Out means a lot to him.

Satnam Singh, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, and Motor City Machine Guns interrupted. Harwood got the audience to chant “a**hole!” at them. Dutt responded by bringing up Dax’s daughter and called the eight-year-old a brat. Dax lost his mind and tried to run up the ramp but Wardlow and Wheeler held him back. FTR & Wardlow will battle Jay Lethal and MCMG at All Out in a Trios match.

Ricky Starks def. QT Marshall, Danielson & Jericho Stare Down

Ricky Starks battled QT Marshall in the main event of this week’s Rampage. Before the match, QT and Ricky were interviewed backstage. Ricky showed up at QT’s locker room and beat him down a bit. Mark Henry then appeared to say “its time for the main event” before the match began.

The crowd was heavily behind Ricky Starks for the match and the former FTW Champion hopped over the barricade to pose with them after beating QT down for several minutes. The action finally made it’s way to the ring and Marshall took control as Rampage went to a break.

When Rampage returned, QT kept trying to steal a victory but Ricky wouldn’t stay down. QT rolled Starks up and used the ropes for leverage but the referee caught him. Ricky battled back and hit the Roshambo for pinfall victory.

After the match, Powerhouse Hobbs rushed the ring and brawled with Ricky. AEW security sprinted down the entrance ramp to separate the two. Bryan Danielson then confronted Chris Jericho who was doing commentary for the show. Danielson and Jericho had a stare down as Rampage goes off the air. They will battle this Sunday at AEW All Out.

Baszler vowed to rip Liv apart limb by limb until she begs her to stop. Liv showed up and told Shayna that she will not tap out at the premium live event. Morgan added that she’s going to rip Shayna’s arm off to end the promo.

Karrion Kross Dominated His SmackDown In-Ring Debut

Karrion Kross faced Drew Gulak tonight on SmackDown. Kross hit a big boot before applying a Kirura Lock for the submission victory. Karrion and Scarlett posed in the ring after the match before tying Drew Gulak up in the ropes.

Ronda Rousey Embarrassed Adam Pearce

Ronda Rousey came down to the ring and complained about Adam Pearce having her arrested. Pearce interrupted and said that it was Ronda’s actions that caused her arrest. Ronda said that “just doing your job” is the excuse of “spineless middle managers” across the world. Ronda handed Pearce a note that said her suspension is over and she will resume in-ring competition immediately.

Adam stated that it was his duty to call the police and Ronda questioned his opinion over the “most recognizable female athlete in the industry”. Adam shouted that he has no issue with the WWE Board of Directors’ decision, he has an issue with Ronda Rousey. Pearce said that the people call Ronda “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” and Adam told Ronda that she is the single biggest bitch he’s ever met. Ronda then locked Pearce in an Armbar as the crowd erupted.

Hit Row def. Maximum Male Models

Hit Row (AJ “Top Dolla” Francis & Ashante “Thee” Adonis) battled Maximum Male Models (Mansoor & Mace) tonight. B-Fab of Hit Row, Max and Maxxiine Dupri from MMM were ringside. MMM and Los Lotharios beat Hit Row down until the Street Profits made the save. Street Profits and Hit Row posed in the ring as the heels retreated.

Shinsuke Nakamura Returned With A Win, Happy Corbin Left With JBL

Corbin hit Deep Six early and went for the cover but Shinsuke kicked out at two. Happy went for a Clothesline but Shinsuke caught him with the Kinshasa for the pinfall victory.

A limo then pulled up in the parking lot that appeared to belong to JBL and Happy Corbin got inside.

Butch Picked Up A Win

Butch battled Ludwig Kaiser tonight on SmackDown. Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Intercontiental Champion Gunther were ringside for the match. Gunther will defend the Intercontinental Championship tomorrow at Clash at the Castle against Sheamus.

Butch tackled Ludwig and unloaded some punches to start off the match. Ludwig responded with a throat chop and stood on Butch’s hair while posing in the ring. Butch knocked Ludwig out of the ring and hit him with a dive. Gunther and Sheamus argued as SmackDown went to a break.

When SmackDown returned, Butch connected with an Enziguri and followed it up with a release German Suplex for a two count. Kaiser battled back with an Enziguri of his own and then hit a Dropkick for a near fall. Butch booted Ludwig in the face but Kaiser responded with a Tilt-A-Whirl Slam for a two count. Butch bent back Ludwig’s fingers and followed it up with the Bitter End for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Gunther got in the ring with the IC Championship around his waist. He challenged Sheamus to a fight and The Celtic Warrior asked the Brawling Brutes to exit the ring. Ludwig then got in the way and Gunther retreated to end the segment.

Drew McIntyre Ruined Roman Reigns’ Celebration

Sami Zayn (sporting a man bun) hosted the celebration for Roman Reigns’ incredible two-year run as champion. Zayn asked Jimmy if he minded that he was hosting and Jimmy told him to do his thing. Jey then interrupted and started hosting it himself. Sami kept firing up the crowd and making comments after everything Jey said. Jimmy told Sami to stop before The Bloodline all posed in the ring as they waited for Roman Reigns.

The Tribal Chief arrived in the parking lot but was greeted with a kick from Drew McIntyre. Drew made his way to the ring as Sami and The Usos argued over who was going to stand up to him. Sami took charge and McIntyre dropped him with a Glasgow Kiss. Drew then battled with The Usos and sent them both out of the ring. Sami tried to help out and got a Claymore to the face.

Drew put Jey through the announce table and then hit Jimmy with a Spear through the barricade. McIntyre grabbed a microphone and said that he will never stop. McIntyre boasted about tearing up The Bloodline and vowed to kick Roman’s head off at Clash at the Castle tomorrow.

Bayley Supports Sasha Banks & Naomi ‘100%, No Matter What’

0

Bayley supports Sasha Banks and Naomi “100 percent, no matter what” amidst their current hiatus from WWE.

Back on the May 16 episode of Monday Night RAW, both Banks and Naomi, then the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, walked out of RAW over creative differences. The pair were subsequently suspended, and even the commentary team took some shots at the pair on live TV.

There were reportedly plans for both Banks and Naomi to enter into storylines for the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Titles, while remaining Tag Team Champions, but both losing their respective title pursuits. This was something seen as disrespectful, prompting the walkout.

In their absence, new Tag Team Champions have been crowned, and a new team has hit the scene. That being the returning Bayley, along with Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY.

This weekend at Clash At The Castle in Wales, the trio will take on Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka.

Bayley new faction at SummerSlam
WWE.com

Recently, Bayley spoke to Sports Illustrated to hype up the pay-per-view (PPV), and was asked about the ongoing situation with Banks and Naomi. The RAW star said she supports her friends “100 percent.”

“I haven’t thought about whether they would join or whether we would be against them, but something would arise,” Bayley said. “I just want them to know I support them 100 percent, no matter what.”

With Vince McMahon now out at WWE, Banks and Naomi are reportedly expected to return “any week now,” as their issues were with the former Chairman. It will be interesting to see how WWE decides to re-introduce the pair when the time comes.

Theory Addresses Receiving His First Name Back

0

Theory now has the “Austin” back in his name as an on-screen WWE character.

With Triple H now at the helm of WWE creative, a lot of changes have been made to the on-screen product. One being the old Vince McMahon rule of having one name, and stars not being able to use their names from the indies, nixed.

Upon joining the main roster in 2021, Theory debuted under the name Austin Theory that he used in NXT. However, several months later, the “Austin” was dropped from his name, and he simply was known as “Theory.”

With Triple H now nixing the one name rule, the ex-United States Champion now has the “Austin” back in his name. Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Mr. Money In The Bank offered his thoughts on the new name change.

“I love Theory. To me, Austin was always the throw-on, my first name. Theory is what I created in the backyard as a kid. I love it. Theory. It’s all we need.”

Theory
(via WWE)

Since joining the main roster, Theory has become one of the most promising young stars WWE has to offer. He already has a United States Title reign under his belt, and is currently the Money In The Bank briefcase holder.

In fact, he’s often received many comparisons to the likes of John Cena, someone the former NXT star has admittedly molded his career after. He even believes the pair will share the ring together at WrestleMania 39 next year.

Chris Jericho: ‘WWE NXT Sucks and They Know it’

0

The Wednesday Night Wars between WWE and AEW Dynamite started in October 2019 until NXT’s final Wednesday night broadcast in April 2021. AEW won the majority of the weeks in the TV tapings.

While speaking with Ariel Helwani of BT Sports today, Triple H knocked EW’s victory in the Wednesday Night Wars by saying AEW defeated WWE’s “developmental” system, despite previously referring to NXT as the third brand several times.

Chris Jericho Reacts to Triple H’s Comments

Chris Jericho
(AEW)

Chris Jericho gave his take on Triple H’s comments in a new interview with Inside The Ropes’ Alex McCarthy for talkWRESTLING.

“Once again, it is just changing the narrative and changing the history, which makes me laugh. Because when it started, it was not developmental, it was a third brand, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, and all the other bullsh*t that they said, so of course we [AEW] beat the developmental or whatever you want to call it, but who gives a sh*t?

It’s such old news, and the show sucks. NXT sucks, it’s not a good show, and they know it. Whether they were punished or not, they probably were punished. That’s probably why Triple H said those things because he is angry that we beat them, and he is probably angry that we exist. But you know, we don’t care about WWE, we care about our show, we care about putting on the best stories that we can put on, we care about building our fanbase and building our ratings.”

Jericho continued that WWE is upset about the continued growth of the rival promotion.

“We will continue to exist, and I will tell you this, my boss has a lot more money than his boss does. A lot more. So you want to go to that, and we are not going anywhere. We will continue to grow. That p*sses them off, and why wouldn’t it? They had a monopoly for so long and don’t like the fact that we exist, and that’s fine. We don’t care that they exist. God bless them. They are running a show in front of 50,000 people. Why would he care about us? But you know, he should, and he does, and that’s why he said those things.”

Triple H on AEW: “They Beat Our Developmental System? Good For Them”

0

Triple H has shared his thoughts on the “competition” between WWE and All Elite Wrestling.

Wrestling fans have been at odds for several years on whether WWE views AEW as competitors. WWE had NXT go up against AEW on Wednesday since the debut of AEW Dynamite on Oct. 2, 2019. NXT and AEW would go head to head for over a year, with AEW having the superior viewership ratings until WWE announced on Mar. 30, 2021, that NXT would move to Tuesday.

While WWE spent over a year competing for ratings with AEW, the company has consistently downplayed talks of AEW as rivals. Triple H, in the past, has denigrated AEW and has gone as far as calling them a “pissant company.”

In an interview with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, Triple H was asked if it was true that NXT got rebranded to NXT 2.0 because they couldn’t beat AEW in the ratings. The WWE executive Vice President of Talent Relations denied the rumor and again downplayed talks of WWE viewing AEW as a competition.

“People put so much pressure on this, all these competitive wars, it never was that. Look, first of all, they beat our developmental system. Good for them, right?”

– Triple H on AEW

He continued, “It was never that. There was never even a pressure of like you have to beat that like it was never that. It was put on the best product we could.”

Triple H on Why NXT changed to NXT 2.0

Many wrestling fans felt that NXT’s shift to NXT 2.0 resulted from not being able to compete with AEW Dynamite’s success. One reason could be that the change happened soon after moving the brand to Tuesday.

However, Triple H expressed that it was a necessary change because they missed the ability to use a developmental system to make new stars.

“It shifted over time during the pandemic, all of that shifted over time and the opportunity for us to change it back to what it truly was, right when you look at a lot of the stars that have come through that system that had either started from zero or very little exposure anywhere and then became massive stars with us, kind of so many people and we lost the ability to take those people and groom them from the ground up. We really had, and it’s the biggest change that’s out there,” said Triple H.

He also shared that he is proud of Shawn Michaels and the NXT 2.0 staff for handling the developmental brand. He added that the decision to rebrand NXT UK to NXT Europe is similar to NXT 2.0 situation and wants to expand the developmental system to different parts of the world like India or South Africa.

Conclusion

Wrestling fans continue to be split on whether they should be a fan of WWE or AEW. However, Triple H is of the mindset that the WWE is operating on what is best for them and thinking about AEW.

He also has a big ambition to focus on making developmental territories worldwide to discover new stars.

What AEW President Tony Khan thinks about Triple H’s comments is unclear. Although, we may hear his thoughts at the All Out post-Press Conference this Sunday.

Triple H Reveals Vince McMahon’s Advice for Running WWE

0

Vince McMahon had some valuable advice to offer when he retired and handed WWE’s creative reigns over to Triple H earlier this summer.

Triple H spoke with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport this week’s to promote Saturday’s WWE Clash at the Castle premium live event from Cardiff, Wales.

During their discussion, he spoke in-depth about Vince McMahon’s retirement. Even though it’s been a few weeks since Vince left WWE, Triple H said it’s still hard for him to fathom.

“In some manner — it’s even hard for me to picture now that he’s not in the equation. And he’s not, in any way, shape or form, but it’s hard to think about that he’s not there.”

– Triple H on Vince McMahon’s WWE Departure

Triple H says it must have been painfully difficult for Vince McMahon to walk away from WWE after decades of building his empire.

Vince did give him some advice, but most of the advice was centered around, ‘This is what you’ve been preparing for all of these years, working alongside me. You’ve got this.’

“Just be confident in your decision-making, listen to people, be open to ideas and collaborate with other people.”

– Vince McMahon’s advice to Triple H

Triple H maintains that Vince McMahon is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations of WWE, but he knows what Vince would encourage him to listen to the people around him. Now that he’s running WWE’s creative team and talent relations departments, he has even more respect for what Vince was able to do.

More of Vince’s Advice to Triple H

Vince told Triple H that he has to chart his own course and not worry about, “What would Vince do?” in certain situations. He knows Triple H will do things differently than he would, but that’s part of being a leader.

“It doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong, we use the term in the business ‘chocolate and vanilla.’ I want chocolate, you want vanilla. One of us has to pick a flavor, he would always pick the flavor. Now it’s my turn to pick the flavor,” Triple H stated.

“It’s all good, it’s all ice cream, but it’s my time to pick the flavor and I have to be confident in those decisions and I can’t look back and say, ‘well what would Vince want to have for a flavor?’ Because it just wouldn’t be authentic then.”

Triple H Discusses Sasha Banks, The Rock and Bray Wyatt Possibly Returning to WWE

0

Triple H spoke with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport on Thursday to promote Saturday’s WWE Clash at the Castle premium live event from Cardiff, Wales.

During their discussion, Helwani asked Triple H about the possibility of four people returning to WWE. Triple H spoke candidly about each performer:

Sasha Banks

“Time will tell,” he said. There was a communication breakdown between Sasha Banks and WWE, for whatever reason. To start that communication back up, it’s not a difficult process, but it’s a process. She is an unbelievably talented young woman. At the end of the day, it comes down to what she wants to do with her life and her career. He called her one of the biggest stars in the business.

Braun Strowman

The Monster Among Men is rumored to be returning to WWE next week. When asked about Strowman’s future, Triple H said, “We’ll see.” He said Strowman is a polarizing person, but you can’t deny his talent. What he brings to the table, in terms of size and personality, does not come along very often.

Bray Wyatt

Triple H said Bray Wyatt is one of the craziest, most creative people he’s ever been around, and he means that in the best way. He said Bray’s mind never stops thinking about creative plans for his character. Without someone to harness him, it gets off track. “He’s a victim of his own mind,” said Triple H. However, he’s loved working with him.

He has no idea where some of Bray Wyatt’s ideas come from. He called him, “Wonderfully crazy.” He said Wyatt has a free-flowing creative mind, as long as you can harness his ideas.

Triple H asked if he could use profanity during the interview, and Helwani said no problem. Triple H said, sometimes you’ll be working with someone that people don’t like. “That guy is an asshole, but he’s my asshole.” He said some people can be difficult to work with, but that’s part of the fun of working with creative, eccentric people.

The Rock

Triple H said The Rock may be the most recognizable person on the planet. He’s the most-in-demand actor in Hollywood and has a slew of other business projects going on. When you’re in that position, you’re very busy.

However, as busy at The Rock is, there’s one thing he can only get in WWE. “I do know this, because i’ve had this conversation with him..” At no time when The Rock is making a movie can he stand in the middle of the ring and feel the energy of 100,000 people. There’s nothing else on the planet that gives you that rush.

The Rock knows the clock is ticking for one last match. He knows The Rock has the burning desire to take advance of this small window of opportunity. The platform is there: WrestleMania. Los Angeles. Roman Reigns. All the pieces are in place, it just comes down to whether or not The Rock can devote the time to making the match happen.

WWE Clash at the Castle takes place Saturday, September 3rd from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, UK.

AEW Star Kyle O’Reilly Recovering From Neck Fusion Surgery

0

Another AEW star will be out of action for significant time due to injury.

On Thursday, Kyle O’Reilly posted photos on Instagram indicating he’s undergone neck fusion surgery. In this first photo below, he’s in a hospital bed. Another photo he posted was an advertisement for the Ford Fusion car, with the name Ford replaced by the word, “neck.”

At this stage, we can safely say he will be out of action at least until the end of the year.

Kyle O’Reilly Update

Kyle O’Reilly last competed for AEW on the June 8th edition of AEW Dynamite. He won a Casino Battle Royal to earn a shot at Jon Moxley later in the evening. Moxley won that match and went on to compete for the Interim AEW World title at Forbidden Door.

O’Reilly’s last televised appearance took place on the August 3rd edition of Dynamite, when he, Bobby Fish and Adam Cole turned on the Young Bucks.

Back in July, O’Reilly said he’s been dealing with a nagging injury for the past five years. During an interview with This is VANCOLOUR, he said:

“This October, I’ll be wrestling for 17 years now. It’s a lot of bumps, a lot of wear and tear on your body. Fortunately, nothing serious has really happened to me. I’ve been hurt a lot, I’ve been injured, but I’ve always grinded through, made the date, showed up and performed as well as I can in the ring despite whatever I was nursing. Sometimes, the medical staff needs to save us from ourselves.

“As wrestlers, we’ll go until the wheels fall off. ‘My shoulder is hurt? Okay, I won’t do any moves where I land on my shoulder.’ We’re crazy like that.

“This is something I’ve been dealing with, it’s a nagging thing that I’ve been dealing with, specifically, pretty bad for the last five years. In the last few weeks of wrestling on AEW, I’ve been really banged up and didn’t know the extent of it until now.”

– Kyle O’Reilly, July 2022

SEScoops wishes Kyle O’Reilly a full and speedy recovery.

WWE Clash at the Castle Predictions

0

WWE Clash at the Castle takes place this Saturday from Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The first major WWE PPV/PLE show to emanate from the U.K. since SummerSlam 1992, there will be more than 45,000 fans in attendance.

SEScoops correspondents Andrew Ravens, Thomas Lowson and Robert Lentini have assembled to provide our official WWE Clash at the Castle predictions.

Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgment Day

Andrew Ravens: Edge and Rey should go over here, but I think there has to be a six-person tag team match happening in the near future so Rhea Ripley and Beth Phoenix can get involved. That could impact the finish here as Ripley could get involved and cost the babyfaces the win. (Prediction: Edge and Rey Mysterio)

Thomas Lowson: The Judgment Day has been picking up wins as of late, and the decision to kick out Edge has worked out after all. After all, who really wanted to boo the man who fought through a nine-year retirement to wrestle again?  I’ve got to go with Edge and Rey, in what could be a show-stealer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Judgment Day save face with a post-match beatdown. (Prediction: Edge and Rey Mysterio)

Robert Lentini: Edge is off to a great start in destroying the group he created after he defeated Damian Priest on RAW. WWE has teased turning Dominik heel a few times and maybe it will finally happen this Saturday. I’m going with The Judgement Day to win this one in controversial fashion. (Prediction: The Judgment Day)

Consensus: Split

Riddle vs. Seth Rollins

Andrew Ravens: This feud has been dragged out for a while now, and unless there are plans for it to continue, Riddle should get his revenge here by beating Rollins. If WWE wants to make this a long-term feud then Rollins goes over. Either way, it’s been a fun build. (Prediction: Riddle)

Thomas Lowson: A feud that’s been great, but we’ve seen plenty between the two. Their work on Raw, both in the pre-show parking lot brawl and on-air was some of their best work all year. I’m predicting Rollins, if nothing else because his record on PLEs has been pretty appalling this year. Hopefully this marks the end of this feud and the two can find other dance partners. (Prediction: Seth Rollins)

Robert Lentini: The rivalry between Rollins and Riddle has gotten very personal. Riddle claimed that Becky Lynch was “The Man” in Seth’s family and Rollins joked that Riddle doesn’t have a family anymore because his wife is divorcing him. They kicked off RAW with a brawl last week and brawled in the parking lot this past Monday. WWE has given Riddle his first name back, so maybe they want the audience to take him seriously again. A win over Seth Rollins at a premium live event would help in that regard as well. (Prediction: Riddle)

Consensus: Split

Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky

Andrew Ravens: I would have the heels go over. I know WWE likes for the babyfaces to go over in feuds, but the Damage Control faction has been a great watch on television, and I hope to see much more of it. Bayley vs. Belair is coming, but to get to that spot, Bayley needs to be kept strong, and a loss for Belair and the rest of the babyfaces won’t hurt them. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IO SKY)

Thomas Lowson: Two very good teams, that it’s honestly hard to call. I’m going to go with the heels. It’s their first PLE match since forming, and after losing on Raw, they need the win more. I don’t imagine it’ll be Belair taking the pin though. Keep the champion looking strong the next time she needs to defend at a Premium Live Event. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY)

Robert Lentini: Bayley returned at SummerSlam alongside Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. They made an impact on that show but really haven’t since. Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky lost the finals of the women’s tag team tournament this past Monday and Bayley defeated Aliyah in her only TV match since SummerSlam. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Shirai should win this match if fans are supposed to consider them as a serious threat on the RAW roster. (Prediction: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY)

Consensus: Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY

Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. Sheamus

Andrew Ravens: Gunther shouldn’t lose here. He’s been pushed as a monster, and that needs to continue. Many fans, including myself, have been looking forward to seeing these two stars lock up and we’re finally going to get it. It should be the hardest-hitting bout on the card and perhaps the match of the night. (Prediction: Gunther)

Thomas Lowson: This is arguably going to be the most ‘physical’ match of the night, and I’m excited to see it live. While I do hope that Sheamus one day captures the Grand Slam, now isn’t the right time. Gunther’s reign is still picking up steam, and he shouldn’t be dropping the gold this year from how I see it. Give him a long run that actually gives the IC title prestige again. (Prediction: Gunther)

Robert Lentini: Gunther is awesome and thank goodness the new leadership in WWE believes in him. The Ring General will get a hero’s welcome in the UK and he will definitely retain the title. As The Celtic Warrior said on SmackDown, he’s been delivering banger after banger as of late, and WWE fans should expect another one at Clash at the Castle. (Prediction: Gunther)

Consensus: Gunther

SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler

Andrew Ravens: Morgan should retain her as WWE still has the storyline with Ronda Rousey to play out. However, if WWE just wanted to swerve fans, they could put the title on Baszler. This loss won’t hurt Baszler as long as WWE continues to push her the way that they have in recent weeks, which is a great change to see. (Prediction: Liv Morgan)

Thomas Lowson: Seems pretty easy to see that Morgan is going to win this. WWE’s issue is that they’ve made her out to be lucky rather than skilled. See her cashing in on a hurting Rousey and her controversial title retention at Summerslam. WWE needs to have Morgan actually beat someone. Unfortunately, that’ll be Baszler, who should have had at least one singles title run on the main roster by now. Maybe one day, but not this weekend. (Prediction: Liv Morgan)

Robert Lentini: Everyone was excited about Liv Morgan becoming the SmackDown Women’s Champion at the Money in the Bank premium live event. She won the women’s ladder match and cashed in on the same night against Ronda Rousey. Ronda was hurting from her successful title defense against Natalya and Liv capitalized.Ronda got her rematch at SummerSlam but the referee claimed that her shoulders were down while applying the Armbar and awarded Liv Morgan the victory. Rousey attacked Liv and the referee after the match and has been suspended. She will likely play a factor in this match as well. Liv will somehow escape Clash at the Castle as the champion to set up another match against Rousey down the line. (Liv Morgan)

Consensus: Liv Morgan

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre

Andrew Ravens: This has to be the day Reigns is finally defeated. I don’t know who else is a bigger star to dethrone Reigns as champion than McIntyre. Throw in the circumstances of the event. It seems like too good of a situation to pass up and not put the title on McIntyre. Reigns has done it all, and WWE needs a more active champion. (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Thomas Lowson: This match screams ‘Big Fight Feel!’ We’ve just entered year three of Reigns’ run on top, but I’m going out on a leg and saying it ends this Saturday. If WWE wants Rock-Roman at WrestleMania, that doesn’t need the title. He should lose it before then. And if not to Drew, then who? Give the UK a feel good moment, and give McIntyre the title win with fans he deserves after carrying the company through the Pandemic. It’s his time! (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Robert Lentini: Roman Reigns will be celebrating two years as champion this Friday on SmackDown. It has been a remarkable run for The Tribal Chief. However, there appears to be some friction brewing in The Bloodline. Sami Zayn refused to bash Kevin Owens with a steel chair on RAW and it cost Jey Uso the match. Paul Heyman hasn’t been seen since being put through a table via an F5 from Brock Lesnar. McIntyre is a two-time WWE Champion, yet has never held the title in front of a crowd. Drew was integral to getting WWE through the pandemic era of TV and it would be great to see him finally get his moment this Saturday. Clash at the Castle is WWE’s first UK stadium show in over thirty years and I can’t think of a better way to send the crowd home happy than to give McIntyre the victory. Karrion Kross has sent several warnings to Drew since he returned to WWE, so it will be interesting to see if he interferes in the match. (Prediction: Drew McIntyre)

Consensus: Drew McIntyre

WWE Disappointed With Gable Steveson’s Training Progress (Report)

0

When WWE signed Gable Steveson to a contract in late 2021, there was a lot of buzz around the young athlete.

Steveson had just won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (which took place in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and had been considering his options.

It had been suggested that Steveson would sign with AEW, or possibly enter the Octagon for a career in MMA.

Going Cold

Steveson impressed in last year’s Summer Olympics, but his skills haven’t transitioned into pro wrestling.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s reported that WWE has gone “cold” on the Olympic Gold Medalist, as the reviews of him in training have been poor.

There were plans for Steveson to be fast-tracked to the main roster after he finished his last amateur season in March, but that hasn’t been talked about in some time.

Steveson appeared at WrestleMania: Saturday, celebrating with RK-Bro and the Street Profits, and suplexing Chad Gable (a fellow Olympian) with ease.

Family Ties

Gable Steveson isn’t doing too well in training to be a WWE Superstar, but the opposite is the case for his brother.

Bobby Steveson, aka Damon Kemp has said to be doing “great” according to the Observer.

Kemp made his WWE in-ring debut in December 2021, in a losing effort to Andre Chase on 205 Live and would have to wait until a March 2022 edition of NXT LVL UP to get his first victory.

In addition to competing on NXT LVL UP and 205 Live, Kemp has worked on NXT and NXT UK.

Malakai Black Calls WWE’s Judgment Day a Copy of The House of Black

0

In January, Malakai Black began teaming with Brody King, forming the team the ‘House of Black.’

This came after months of Black teasing that a stable was in the works, and in February, 2022, fellow WWE alum Buddy Matthews debuted for AEW and became the group’s third member.

Most recently, the group added Julia Hart to the faction, who had previously been aligned with the Varsity Blonds.

Mimicking the House of Black

The House of Black are a dark stable, but they’re not the only macabre group in wrestling today.

At WrestleMania 38, Edge began The Judgment Day with Damian Priest, before adding Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor.

Balor’s arrival also marked the end of Edge’s time with the faction, and the WWE Hall of Famer has been feuding with The Judgment Day since then.

Speaking on his Twitch stream, Black addressed the comparisons between the group.

“I was well aware that WWE were going to basically mimic the House of Black. Y’know, what can I do? It is what it is. It only tells me that what we’re doing is clearly something that is very interesting and going very well.”

“It only tells me that what we’re doing is clearly something that is very interesting.”

Malakai Black on WWE ‘mimicking’ the House of Black with The Judgment Day.

“I’m well aware of it. Nothing I can do. I’m going to continue what I do because I’ll always be one step ahead. I have no cuffs. The reason why it [The House of Black] works is because it’s myself and two other people who have great minds for it.”

The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor will face Edge and Rey Mysterio at tomorrow’s WWE Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales.

AEW: Fight Forever to be Featured at Tokyo Games Show

0

So far, All Elite Wrestling has released two games for mobile devices, the AEW Double or Nothing Casino game, and AEW Elite General Manager.

Fans and gamers are eagerly anticipating the launch of AEW: Fight Forever, the first console wrestling video game by the company.

The game is rumored to launch later this year for all expected consoles as well as PC.

A lot is riding on the success of AEW: Fight Forever, with reports that AEW has invested an eight-figure sum (at least $10 million) into their gaming department.

Fans in Tokyo, Japan will soon get to check out the upcoming game themselves, as it has been confirmed that AEW: Fight Forever will be featured at the upcoming Games Show.

In addition to the game, there will also be live wrestling at the Games Show featuring talent from AEW, though no matches have been confirmed so far.

This is similar to AEW’s recent visit to Cologne, Germany for GamesCon 2022, where Fight Forever won Best Game in the Sports/Racing category.

Tokyo Games Show 2022 will take place from September 15, to September 18, and will also feature Xbox, Capcom, and Konami at the event.

What we know about AEW: Fight Forever

At GamesCon, Evil Uno and Colt Cabana spoke about AEW: Fight Forever, promoting a rich story for the game.

The pair confirmed a “deep career mode” which will see players go “on the road” with AEW in this mode and select a manager as well.

It was also said that online play will be a large part of the game.

Daniel Garcia Gives his Pick for the Greatest of All Time

0

Daniel Garcia has been with AEW for less than a year, but has made a name for himself working with several top stars.

Garcia has proven he can hold his own against the likes of Bryan Danielson, as well as facing Jon Moxley and Sammy Guevara.

In addition to working with All Elite Wrestling, Garcia competes for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, where he is the reigning PWG World Champion.

The Greatest of All Time

Daniel Garcia may be an established member of the Jericho Appreciation Society, but the first-ever AEW World Champion is not the greatest ever.

In a Q&A with Bleacher Report, Garcia was asked about working with Bryan Danielson, and had nothing but praise for the American Dragon.

“I think Bryan is the greatest wrestler of all time. I think his body of work speaks for itself. His longevity, the matches he’s had across different countries, different promotions, different areas; it really speaks for itself. And being able to share the ring with somebody with that wealth of knowledge, and in a style that I’ve always appreciated so much, is really special to me.

“I think Bryan [Danielson] is the greatest wrestler of all time.”

Daniel Garcia.

Garcia added that he is content if he never wrestles Danielson again, as he is still learning from the matches he’s already had with the former WWE World Champion.

Still part of JAS?

Last week’s AEW Dynamite opened with Garcia speaking about the prior week’s show, where he, Danielson and Jericho had a segment.

That segment saw the two veterans plead their case as to why Garcia should side with them, but the young star left without making a clear decision.

When asked, Garcia confirmed he is still part of the Jericho Appreciation Society.

“”It’s not something that you just say that you’re in or out of. It’s a brotherhood.”

Daniel Garcia.

The segment between the three led to a match between Jericho and Danielson being confirmed for this Sunday’s AEW All Out.

Update on W. Morrissey’s Future with AEW

0

W. Morrissey, the man who was formerly Big Cass in WWE, made his second appearance for AEW this week on Dynamite and turned a lot of heads in the process.

Morrissey appeared to be in tremendous shape once again. Since exiting WWE back in 2018, he has overcome alcohol addiction and got himself in tremendous shape. After a run with Impact Wrestling that ended back in June, there were a lot of questions about whether he would return to WWE or end up with AEW.

Morrissey previously made an appearance for AEW during Dynamite back on May 4th. That night, he was brought in by MJF to face Wardlow. It was a losing effort, but it marked the first time non-Impact fans took notice of how the former WWE star has improved since last seen on a national level.

A new report from Fightful Select sheds light on Morrissey’s future with AEW. Fightful notes that we will be seeing him again, which shouldn’t be surprising after Stokely Hathaway made overtures to sign him following his appearance this week on Dynamite.

Per Fightful, Morrissey is booked to appear on Dynamite next week in Buffalo, New York. That will be the first of three consecutive shows for the promotion in New York state, with AEW Dynamite airing the following week in Albany and Queens after that. The Queens show is the gigantic Arthur Ashe Stadium event (dubbed AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam), and Queens also just so happens to be Morrissey’s hometown.

SEScoops will keep our readers updated on anything new that breaks regarding Morrissey’s future moving forward.

AEW Star Fined After Dropping F-Bomb on Dynamite

0

AEW producer Ace Steel was hit with a fine due to his use of profanity on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

The incident occurred during an in-ring segment that saw Steel convincing CM Punk that he should sign the contract to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World title this Sunday at All Out.

Punk was questioning himself and his abilities after getting steamrolled by Moxley next week. Steel, a former wrestler who trained CM Punk, forced Punk to look within himself and muster up the courage to face Moxley once again. Even though he got ‘knocked down’ last week, he urged Punk to “f**king get up” and literally slapped some sense into him.

It made for some entertaining television, and Punk did sign that contract, but Steel was disciplined for his unscripted profanity. According to PWInsider, AEW talent was told to be on their best behavior this week, including no swearing on Dynamite or Rampage.

Talent was informed on Thursday that Steel took responsibility for his actions and was commended for doing so. A fine was levied, with the proceeds being donated to charity.

Ace Steel made his debut on the independent scene back in 1991. Over the years, he wrestled for TNA Wrestling, ROH and WWE.

Steel and Punk actually teamed together in TNA as the Hatebreed (2002) in a rare pairing of teacher in student. In an obscure bit of trivia, Ace Steel portrayed Donald Trump for the infamous ‘Trump vs. Rosie O’Donnell’ comedy match on WWE Raw in 2007. He joined AEW as a producer earlier this year.
