WWE NXT Superstar Expected to be Called-Up After WrestleMania 39

0

A former WWE NXT North American Champion could be mere weeks away from being called up to the main roster in the post-WrestleMania 39 buzz.

The Raw after WrestleMania has often been heralded as one of the most exciting nights of the WWE year, and traditionally features a call-up or two.

Notable examples include Paige (AEW’s Saraya) winning the WWE Divas Championship in 2014, and Enzo Amore and Big Cass on the post-WrestleMania Raw in 2016.

Called-Up

The last time fans saw Cameron Grimes in NXT, the former Champion was losing to Joe Gacy on the November 8, episode of the gold brand.

It has been reported that Grimes is finished with NXT, and that WWE are waiting on the right creative idea for his arrival on the main roster.

In an update, PW Insider reported that there have been “rumblings internally” that Grimes will be called-up after WrestleMania 39.

The former North American Champion has appeared on Raw in the past, as he enlisted the services of the O.C. during an October 22, episode.

Grimes also competed on the October 17, 2022, episode of WWE Main Event, defeating Akira Tozawa.

He has also competed for SmackDown, albeit in a dark match for the February 24, 2023, episode, where he defeated Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis.

Cameron Grimes

It was in January 2019 that the former Trevor Lee confirmed his signing with WWE, and began training at the Performance Center the next month.

Grimes made it to the finals of that year’s NXT Breakout Tournament (which he lost to Jordan Myles.)

After a knee surgery, Grimes returned to TV in February 2021, and referencing the rise in GameStop stock value, dubbed himself the richest man in NXT.

In April 2022, Grimes would capture the NXT North American Championship, and would later challenge unsuccessfully for the NXT Championship.

Bill Goldberg: WWE “Owe Me” A Retirement Match

0

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg will wrestle for the promotion at least one more time, if he gets his way.

Goldberg, one of the homegrown talent in WCW, debuted in WWE in 2003 and would capture the World Heavyweight Championship before departing in 2004.

Returning in 2016, Goldberg has wrestled a handful of times each year, with his most recent match coming in early 2022.

Retirement Match

At 56 years old, the two-time former Universal Champion is well aware that his career is winding down, and plans to end things on his own terms.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Goldberg made it clear that he believes he deserves a retirement match, after making his deal with ‘the devil.’

You never say never, especially in wrestling, and they owe me one. That’s all I can say. I made a deal with the devil and I did my job, and they owe me a retirement match. At the end of the day, at 56, it’s not something where I’m sitting by the phone waiting for a call. I’ve got a few ideas of how to do it on my own, possibly in Israel. So never say never.”

Bill Goldberg.

There are currently no reports of any plans for Goldberg to have a final match in WWE.

Roman Reigns

Goldberg’s most recent match for WWE came at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he lost to Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

The match had been delayed by close to two years, as Goldberg Vs. Reigns was scheduled for WrestleMania 36 in 2020 before Reigns withdrew from the event.

Speaking about the Tribal Chief, Goldberg had nothing but praise for his old adversary, and compared Reigns’ face run receiving fan backlash to his own career.

“I’m really proud of him. I’ve dealt with some of that negativity, and it’s tough. You go out there, you work your ass off, and at the end of the day, you want to be appreciated. He’s quite dedicated. I respect that, I respect him, and I’d love to get in the ring and give him an ass-kicking, but this is his time.”

Bill Goldberg.

Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes this April.

Watch: What Happened With The Acclaimed After Dynamite Went Off Air

0

The Acclaimed did everything The Acclaimed is known for after this week’s episode of Dynamite went off air.

AEW presented a solid episode of their weekly flagship show ahead of this Sunday’s Revolution PPV from Chase Center in San Francisco.

The show featured the final build for upcoming big matches such as the World title match between MJF and Bryan Danielson among others.

The company also moved the Face of The Revolution Ladder match from the PPV event to Dynamite. The match was won by Powerhouse Hobbs and one AEW star quit the promotion after this bout.

The Acclaimed After Dynamite

The Acclaimed made a brief appearance on the show to save the team of Orange Cassidy & Danhausen from a beatdown by Jeff Jarrett and The Guns.

Though this wasn’t their last appearance of the night. The duo accompanied by Billy Gunn showed up once again after the cameras stopped rolling.

They presented a short rap before competing in a dark match against The Workhorsemen. After winning the bout, the popular tag team scissored with the crowd to end the night:

The Guns will be defending the AEW Tag Team Championship in a four-way match at AEW Revolution. The challengers for this bout include The Acclaimed, Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal and Orange Cassidy & Danhausen.

Brock Lesnar Nixed Idea for Huge WrestleMania 39 Match – Vince McMahon Involved?

0

Brock Lesnar will face Omos at WrestleMania 39 next month, but this isn’t the match WWE originally had in mind.

Last week, Omos laid out the challenge to the Beast Incarnate, who most recently competed against Bobby Lashley at WWE Elimination Chamber.

On this week’s Raw, Lesnar accepted the challenge and laid out MVP, Omos’ manager, in a message to the Nigerian giant.

Nixed Match

Fans have been surprised by WWE’s decision to go ahead with this match, which was not even being hinted at just a few weeks ago.

Prior to WWE Elimination Chamber, Bray Wyatt stated that he would face the winner of Lesnar Vs. Lashley at WrestleMania 39.

Fightful Select has learned that a match between Lesnar and Wyatt was pitched for the April two-night event, but Brock turned the idea down.

No specific details were given as to why the former Universal Champion refused the match with Wyatt.

It was confirmed to Fightful that Brock Lesnar personally approved the Omos match.

Other Options

In December 2022, it was reported that GUNTHER was being lined-up as Lesnar’s WrestleMania 39 opponent, and the two did have an altercation in the Men’s Rumble match.

Fightful adds that while GUNTHER was also pitched for Lesnar, this match was nixed and that the match had already been scrapped when news in December came out.

At the time that the GUNTHER-Lesnar match was a possibility, there was no mention whatsoever of the Intercontinental Championship being a factor in the match.

Bobby Lashley was also pitched as an opponent for Lesnar at WrestleMania, though the All Mighty will seemingly be facing Wyatt instead.

Vince McMahon

In a tweet, Wrestle Votes implied that Vince McMahon personally had a hand in making the Lesnar-Omos match a reality.

Fightful hasn’t confirmed that internally, but sources close to Lesnar had indicated that “could be true.”

While sources in WWE have stated that McMahon has no official capacity with the creative department, one anonymous talent has stated that they believe the Executive Chairman has more of an influence on creative than publicly believed.

Eddie Kingston Quits AEW After Dynamite

0

Eddie Kingston has quit AEW.

The Heavyweight Star was part of the Face of The Revolution Ladder match for a shot at the TNT title on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

Kingston attacked the former Inner Circle member Ortiz as soon as the match began. Eddie threw a ladder on the AEW star as others tried to win the match.

The two continued this scuffle and eventually took it away from the ring. Eddie Kingston and Ortiz brawled on the top of the ramp and then took the fighting backstage.

The two were not seen in the match after this and the announcers said that it took ten people to separate them behind the scene. The bout was won by Powerhouse Hobbs who climbed through a broken ladder to get the job done.

Eddie Kingston Is Done

After the Dynamite episode went off air, AEW posted the following video where Eddie Kingston was asked about the match and Ortiz.

The Mad King did not answer the question about his former friend. He did however, proclaimed that he is quitting the company:

Kingston has always been outspoken and he has never hesitated to share his feelings. He has recently been hinting at problems with AEW management and this appears to be the latest development in the story.

Update on WWE Moving Headquarters

0

In 2019, WWE announced it was moving its headquarters and would be selling Titan Tower. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the move was put on hold.

PWInsider is reporting that employees will begin moving to the new headquarters this month. They’ll moving employees over to the new building while renovations at Titan Tower are happening. It’s also to ensure the move goes as smoothly as possible.

Details on the new WWE HQ

At the new headquarters, all WWE employees will be under one roof. PWInsider notes that “currently, certain divisions of the company are housed in different buildings near the Tower, requiring the company to shuttle them from place to place. WWE also has a crossing guard on hand to assist employees as they cross from one building to another.”

The new headquarters will be more technologically advanced than its current location. It’s also a short distance from the Stamford train station. Another note from PWInsider is that a source told them that the location is large enough to “put multiple Performance Centers in the building.”

It’s expected that all employees will be moved into the new headquarters by the end of this year or early next year.

AEW’s Fuego Del Sol Provides an Injury Update

0

Last month, Fuego Del Sol announced that he had been injured at an independent show. He finished the match and originally thought it was just a “small fracture at the bottom of my big toe.” He was still awaiting a CAT scan to find out if there was ligament damage.

The initial time frame for his injury was five weeks.

Fuego Del Sol’s injury worse than expected

Fuego Del Sol

Del Sol received the results of his CT scan. It turns out that he fractured his foot in five different places.

He tweeted “the orthopedic said the main ligament around my Lisfranc bone is a little displaced but not completely separated.” The next step is seeing a foot specialist to find out if surgery is needed.

“If it can heal on its own the recovery is 6-8 weeks because all my bones are in the right spots and the fractures just need time to heal, BUT if I need surgery it could be 3 months.”

Last April, Del Sol was dealing with a “horrible mouth infection”.

We wish Fuego Del Sol a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the ring soon.

Stokely and Bill set up a table along the end of the entrance ramp and Bill looks for a choke-slam but Cassidy fights back, only to eat a forearm from the challenger. Cassidy springboards off the steel steps and goes for a diving forearm but Bill catches him and sends him crashing through the table and we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and Bill is working over Cassidy back inside of the ring. Danhausen has made his way down to the ring and Bill goes for a big boot but Cassidy ducks under the attempt and rolls to the outside. Danhausen tries to curse Stokely but Bill steps in front and tries to choke-slam Danhausen but Stokley stops him and crushes Danhausen with his cast. Cassidy comes out of nowhere and nails Stokely with a dive through the ropes and goes for another, this time to Bill, but Bill catches him in mid-air. A bloodied, mangled, Moxley warns ‘Hangman’ Adam Page that while he’s a good person and a good professional wrestler, he’s not the same type of ‘animal’ that he (Moxley) is. Moxley says there’s only room for one animal in AEW and it’s him.

The Elite’s music hits and the AEW World Trios Champions are on the stage but the lights go out and the House of Black are here! The lights go back out, we hear a bunch of commotion, and when the lights come back up, Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews are hoisting the trios titles as Julia Hart flank the trio.

Takeshita rushes the ring and he and Hobbs unload hard strikes on one another. Everyone’s brawling once again and Andretti takes out Guevara on the outside with a dive over the top rope. Fox goes up top and lays out Guevara, Takeshita, and Andretti with a corkscrew dive off the top turnbuckle. Komander walks the entire length of the top rope and springboards himself off it and takes out Guevara, Takeshita, Fox, and Andretti on the outside to a chorus of ‘holy sh*t!’ chants as we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and Hobbs crushes Fox with a slam into a ladder acting as a table, which was set up between the apron and another ladder. Takeshita lays out Hobbs with a lariat on the outside and back in the ring, Guevara sets up and begins to climb a ladder. Andretti walks along a nearby ladder and ends up on top with Guevara and he sends Guevara crashing down with a suplex onto a ladder and Guevara took an odd spill, lets hope he’s OK. Komander climbs the ladder and wallops Fox with a dive onto the outside and everyone is down at ringside. Komander is up first and walks the ladder that’s set up like a table, Takeshita follows him and plants Komander with a diving Blue Thunder Bomb onto the mat and the crowd is white hot for this one!

Takeshita climbs the ladder, Andretti springboards himself into the ring and onto the ladder, where he and Takeshita exchange strikes atop the ladder. Daniel Garcia rushes down and flips the ladder over and takes out both Andretti and Takeshita. Garcia helps Guevara set up quite the contraption on the outside with steel chairs and a ladder and they set up Andretti on their newly built ladder/table. Guevara climbs a nearby ladder and nails Andretti with a swanton bomb! Garcia drags Guevara into the ring and helps him climb the ladder but Takeshita comes in and dispatches both members of the Jericho Appreciation Society. The lights go out and we see a video of Perry unburying something with flashes of Cage’s attack on him from last week’s show. We then see a tombstone with Christian Cage’s name on it and Cage walks out of the ring.

Back from the break and Bryan Danielson makes his way down to the ring to join Renee Paquette. Renee asks Bryan about a social media post that MJF made about Bryan many years ago. Bryan says he was forced to retire seven years ago and he said that if you fight for your dreams, you dreams will fight for you. MJF’s music hits and out comes the AEW World Champion. MJF tells production to cut his music and Bryan tells MJF to ‘shutup’. Bryan says he heard enough from MJF and says that MJF needs to stop thinking he deserves everything. Bryan says MJF has done nothing to earn anything he believes that he deserves and says that MJF has done nothing to fight for anything but the one thing MJF does deserve, was his fiancé leaving him like she did. Bryan says MJF is the opposite type of person he’d want his kids to marry and unlike MJF, who was ‘born with a silver spoon in his mouth’, he (Bryan) fought for everything. Bryan says before he came to AEW, he had a job that would’ve made sure he could do anything he ever wanted but he left to come to AEW because he wanted to fight and become AEW World Champion. Bryan says MJF better be ready to fight for everything in his life on Sunday night at AEW Revolution for the entire 60 minutes of their Iron Man match because if he doesn’t, he’s going to get his ‘f***ing head kicked in!’. MJF storms out, Bryan celebrates with the fans in attendance as the show goes off-the-air!

Vince McMahon Influenced The Booking of WWE WrestleMania Match

0

Ever since Vince McMahon made his return to WWE as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, there has been speculation on whether he would return to creative or if he had a say in the creative direction on the main roster.

Triple H took over creative last summer and has publicly said that he will get suggestions from McMahon, but he is still in charge, not his father-in-law.

However, McMahon reportedly does have some influence over the WrestleMania card regarding at least one match. On this past Monday’s episode of Raw, WWE made the Brock Lesnar vs. Omos match at WrestleMania 39 official.

The Report

The WrestleVotes Twitter account, which has broken several big stories in the past, reports that the idea did come from McMahon, who was high on Omos while he was still in charge of creative.

“I’m told the highly anticipated, very compelling Brock Lesnar vs Omos WrestleMania matchup was the idea of one specific, powerful person who pushed it through,” the tweet read.

It’s been reported by multiple media outlets that there have been several changes made to the WrestleMania card in recent weeks including Lesnar’s plans for the show as those were changed sometime within the last week or two.

Fightful Select reported that one person in the company thinks McMahon is running creative, but that hasn’t been confirmed and WWE sources have denied this.

WrestlingNewsPremium reported just last week that people in WWE pointed out how this match is a sign that McMahon has been getting more involved with creative.

Sonya Deville Arrested in New Jersey Over Gun Possession Violation

0

WWE Superstar Sonya Deville has been arrested after allegedly violating gun possession laws in the state of New Jersey.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, court documents show that a valet contacted police on February 19, when they found a gun in the glove box of Deville’s vehicle.

After an investigation determined that Deville did not have the proper permits to carry the weapon, the Superstar and former WWE authority figure was promptly arrested.

Deville was charged with one count of unlawful weapon possession of a handgun without a permit.

The Superstar, who recently announced her engagement to fiance Toni Cassano, is due to appear in court later this month.

Possession of a firearm—including handguns, rifles, shotguns, machine guns, and assault weapons—without a permit is a third-degree crime, punishable by up to five years in prison, according to Rosenblum Law.

This article will be updated as more information is made available.

Cody Rhodes Eyeing Several Post-WrestleMania Feuds

0

Cody Rhodes has a date with destiny in just over four weeks when he battles Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39. The American Nightmare seeks to fulfill his ‘American Dream’ and capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Rhodes is laser focused on WrestleMania, but that doesn’t mean he can’t look ahead and think about what awaits him after WWE’s biggest show of the year.

During a recent interview with AJ Awesome, Rhodes revealed there are two WWE Superstars he is eager to work with after he gets through the Bloodline’s Tribal Chief.

He began by saying, he will really need to be on his game to beat Reigns. He named several very talented people who were unable to do so, including Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson), Edge, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre. However, if he can do the ‘impossible’ – he’d love to work with Johnny Gargano and Edge.

Cody Rhodes on his Post-WrestleMania Plans

Rhodes says wants to test himself against Johnny Gargano, because he remembers how intense it was when AEW went head-to-head with NXT during the ‘Wednesday Night Wars.’

NXT was tough competition at the time and Gargano was one of their biggest stars. He says Gargano always delivers and is a wrestler’s wrestler. They’ve never worked together, they have different styles, so he wants to cross paths with Johnny Wrestling to see what they’re each made of.

The other man he wants to work with is Edge. He’s told a few people that he wants to wrestle Edge, but never told Edge himself, because he doesn’t want to seem adversarial or confrontational. He questioned how much time Edge has left, which adds an extra sense of urgency to this potential match-up.

He considers Edge a locker room leader who leads by example and isn’t shy to pull pepole aside and give them advice in a way that’s not overbearing.

“He’s the real deal and he’s in that lofty air that very few are in and while he’s here, again, he could be here forever but while he’s here, I’d like to get that one,” said Cody.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rhodes spoke about his Royal Rumble victory, saying it was somewhat poetic that he and Gunther were the final two men in the ring. He sees Gunther as one of the toughest men in WWE, which made his win that much more satisfying.

Watch: Trailer for New John Cena Project with Kevin Hart

0

John Cena’s expanse into the world of Hollywood has continued with his latest project with comedy staple Kevin Hart.

Cena’s first foray into acting began in 2006 with the release of The Marine, a film the former WWE Champion had a less-than-favorable response to.

In more recent years, Cena has gone from strength to strength, thanks to roles in major franchises including Fast and Furious and the DC Comics Cinematic Universe.

Die Hart 2

While Cena has becoming a leading man in Hollywood, the 16-time former World Champion has also taken on smaller projects.

This week, the Roku Channel shared a trailer for the upcoming Kevin Hart vehicle “Die Hart 2: Die Harter” which features Hart, Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ben Schwartz.

The film serves as a sequel to 2020’s Die Hart, which sees Hart’s character try and make a name for himself as an action movie star.

John Cena’s WWE Return

Cena is certainly kept busy with his acting commitments, but the iconic WWE Superstar will soon be back in the ring.

The two-time Royal Rumble winner has been confirmed for next week’s Raw in Boston, MA.

While not confirmed, it is believed that Cena will resume his feud with United States Champion Austin Theory, culminating in a match at WrestleMania 39.

The pair teased a feud in mid-2022, and a match between the pair was rumored for Summerslam 2022 last July, though never transpired.

Cena’s most recent appearance for WWE was on the final SmackDown of 2022, where he and Kevin Owens defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.

The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa Gets Married in WWE Superstar-Attended Ceremony

0

Solo Sikoa may be the silent enforcer of The Bloodline, but the former NXT North American Champion is also now a married man.

After debuting in WWE NXT in 2021, Sikoa was called-up to the main roster at WWE Clash at the Castle last September.

Sikoa aided Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in his title defense against Drew McIntyre in Cardiff, Wales.

Married Man

As seen on WWE TV, Sikoa’s loyalty to his family runs deep, and now the Anoa’I family has a new member.

On social media, photos and videos were shared of the wedding of Sikoa and Almia Williams, who tied the knot this week.

It is reported that the pair, who have two children together, got engaged in 2020.

In a social media post of his own, Sikoa called his blushing bride “forever my blessing,” and add that she loves ‘Mrs. Fatu.’

Some photos included in Sikoa’s post show the bride and groom posing with reigning Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Jimmy and Jey Uso.

Fellow WWE Superstar Naomi, who is married to Jimmy Uso, also attended the wedding.

Naomi has been suspended from WWE since May of last year, and it was recently reported that she is recovering from shoulder surgery.

There are no photos that featured current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns or any other known members of the Anoa?i family.

We here at SEScoops would like to congratulate Sikoa and Almia on their joyous union.

WWE Hall of Famer Wants to Face Rhea Ripley in her Retirement Match

0

The former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is currently one of the top stars in the women’s division. It has come to light that ‘The Eradicator’ has been considered to be the retirement opponent of a WWE legend.

WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze (a.k.a Madusa) is a trailblazer and one of the greatest female stars to ever grace the squared circle. Her last match was in 2018 when she competed in the 20-woman battle royal at WWE Evolution. She recently expressed her desire to have The Judgement Day member as her last opponent inside the ring.

Speaking to PWMania, Blayze talked about calling out Rhea Ripley. She went on to reveal that they had a backstage conversation during the 30th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW.

Alundra Blayze wants Rhea Ripley as her retirement opponent

“You’re, so funny. I already called her out. And I was walking past the makeup room whenever I was there for Raw XXX and I walked by I said, ‘yo girl looking good.’ Then I came back and stuck my head and I said, ‘you’d probably be a pretty good retirement match.’ She’s like, ‘Oh my God. That’s such an honor.’ She’s so funny. She’s a wonderful girl, though. Woman. Just amazing. I just say girl or kid because probably like 30 years younger than I am. You know?”

Recently, at RAW XXX, Blayze returned to WWE in a backstage segment alongside other legends. She played poker in a tournament put together by fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons.

Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley won this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match by last eliminating Liv Morgan. ‘The Eradicator’ has now earned a shot at the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship currently held by Charlotte Flair. They are set to lock horns for the title at WrestleMania 39 this April.

WWE Officials Impressed with NXT Star

0

NXT star Sol Ruca (real name Calyx Hampton) has been impressing WWE officials in addition to fans of the show.

Coming from a gymnastics background, Sol Ruca is one of the most popular up-and-coming stars to become a fan favorite. She grabbed the attention with her spectacular in-ring moves and sheer athleticism. Her unique finisher Sol Snatcher’ even went viral.

Now, it has been reported that the WWE officials see big potential in her. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE officials are ‘really high’ on Ruca, who will face Elektra Lopez on this week’s edition of NXT.

WWE officials are impressed with Sol Ruca

“That may not be…they’re really high on Solo Ruca for obvious reasons,” Meltzer stated. “Zoey Stark is probably the best opponent to put her in there with, and Elektra Lopez is probably near the bottom of the list of opponents to put her in there with. I guess Lash Legend might be worse.”

Ruca and Zoey Stark are currently entailed in a fiery rivalry that has been boiling in recent weeks. The two faced off in singles action on the February 7th episode, and it was Stark who snatched a cheeky win. However, Sol Ruca made it clear that she wants to face Stark again during a promo segment last week.

Ruca joined the Performance Center in May of 2022. After signing with the company, she made her in-ring debut last June, where she continued to work on the NXT Level Up show. Following a brief run on the show, she made her NXT debut last September.

Dakota Kai Reacts To Losing Women’s Tag Titles on Raw

0

Dakota Kai is sharing her thoughts about Damage CTRL losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships to Lita and Becky Lynch on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW.

Kai took to Twitter to react to the setback, noting that the pair still have more to give. She wrote, “We have so much more to give. I love @iyo_sky & @itsBayleyWWE with my whole heart.

Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Lita recently joined forces to win the Women’s Tag-Team Championships. They defeated IYO SKY and Dakota Kai in the main event on this week’s RAW.

Damage CTRL leader Bayley had been interfering in the title match and tried to assist her team in retaining the gold. At one point ‘The Role Model’ used one of the title belts to distract the referee and pulled Lita from the apron to stop her from tagging in.

However, in the closing moments, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus made a shocking return. She ran down to the ring and attacked Bayley to even the odds. ‘Big Time Becks’ locked in the Disarm-Her on Dakota Kai, which gave Lita the opening to hit the Lita-Sault on SKY for the pinfall victory.

Stratus, Lita and Lynch celebrated together in the ring as the show came to a close.

Backstage after Raw, Lita, Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus spoke about the title change.

Jim Ross Recently Met With Former WWE Executive

0

Jim Ross shared an interesting story recently about catching up with former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis.

Ross was the Head of Talent Relations before he stepped down from the role and was replaced by Laurniatis, who held the role for years until 2012, when Triple H took over. From 2011 to 2012, he also served as General Manager while working as an on-air character. In 2012, Laurinaitus lost his position as one of the WWE’s producers.

In March 2021, Laurinaitis returned as head of talent relations, but let go in August 2022 when WWE launched an investigation in relation to the Vince McMahon-Wall Street Journal sexual misconduct story regarding a former WWE employee who had a sexual relationship with him. It was alleged that  Laurinaitis also had a relationship with the employee.

Ross knocked Laurinaitis in his book for the way that Laurinaitis treated him after taking over the role and using him.

Ross saw Laurinaitis with Dean Malenko at the AEW hotel during his trip to Phoenix, AZ for AEW Dynamite. He believes Dean told him that Laurinaitis was picking him up at the airport and that’s why Laurinaitis was there.

The Conversation

“And I look up and here comes Raphael Morffi and Jonny Laurinaitis. And I’m thinking, ‘Oh, geez, I wasn’t ready for this conference. It wasn’t a confrontation at all. We had a nice conversation. I told him, I said, ‘you know, I’m too old and I’m trying to overcome these issues of my skin cancer and all the subsequent treatment. I got more important things to worry about than having a grudge, and living a grudge. So we kind of cleared the air and had a nice conversation. And I thought it took a lot of balls for him to come approach me, to be honest with you. Because he had read everything I’d written about, you know, him being a chicken sh*t. And I told him, I said I apologize for some of the things I said. I get emotional and there you go. So anyway, we had a nice little 10-15 minute chat.”

Ross noted that he’s glad they got to talk and get it out of the way to let go of all the negative things. He said it was a surprise meeting and Laurinaitis was very sincere.

“And so I thought I’d share that with our folks here on the podcast. I haven’t talked about it at all. So this is breaking news. So anyway, it was good. It was surprisingly good. And I’m glad he stepped up and we had a nice clean talk conversation and cleared the air, so to speak. You know, I don’t know that we’ll be on each other’s Christmas card list. But nonetheless, I kind of admired what he said to me and him making the first move, because like I said, I forgot he was even coming. And I didn’t see him standing at the bar with Dean, and all everybody else that was there.”

Ross speculated that Laurinaitis may be looking for work, but admired Laurinaitis for talking to him even though he seemed prepared for it.

“And he just got caught in a crossfire there seems to me like, made some bad decisions, apparently. I don’t know. We didn’t delve into his situation very deeply. But I was glad that we got at least got a chance to chat. Conrad, I’m 71 years old. I don’t know, I’m hoping I’m gonna be around a long time as I’m knocking on wood. But you never know. Right? We got no guarantees here. Tomorrow’s are not guaranteed. Tomorrow’s are not guaranteed. So it was an interesting conversation. Glad it happened and I wish him well.”

Britt Baker Talks Current AEW role & Relationship With Tony Khan

0

Britt Baker is providing a unique look at what it’s like to collaborate with AEW President Tony Khan.

Baker is one of the top female performers in the industry. The former AEW Women’s World Champion been one of the company’s featured stars since its inception in 2019. As she’ll proudly tell you, she is the first woman to get signed by the company.

Baker has been out of action nursing an injury, but she’s remained a mainstay on television. ‘D.M.D.’ is aligned with Jamie Hayter, AEW’s reigning Women’s World Champion.

The first-ever Women’s Owen Hart Cup winner recently spoke with FoxSportsAU about her relationship with Khan, whom she holds a great deal of respect for.

Britt Baker on Collaborating with Tony Khan

“Right now I’m not having weekly matches, I’m not having weekly promos, so it’s a little bit backed off,” said Baker. “I try not to bother him and bug [Tony] because there are 100’s of other wrestlers texting him on a daily basis, I’m sure.”

Baker says Khan has created an environment where talent feel empowered to pitch ideas to him. It’s such a healthy relationship, that he can openly express when he doesn’t love an idea.

“For example, when I was champion, I was texting with Tony several times a week with different ideas, and he was sending me his ideas, and he’s very straight-up with me. He’d tell me ‘Britt, that’s not a good idea, I don’t like that’, or ‘hey, let’s make this better’, and I really appreciate that from my boss.”

Honesty is one of the most helpful tools anyone can ever give you when you’re learning your craft, especially when you’re learning TV professional wrestling. I couldn’t ask for a better boss than Tony Khan and he has helped me so much growing as a performer, as a wrestler, as a human being. He’s really a special guy and we’re lucky to work for him.

Britt Baker will be in the corner of Jamie Hayter when she defends her title against Ruby Soho and Saraya at AEW Revolution pay-per-view on March 5.

“We Weren’t Blessed with Superstar Attributes” – Dax Harwood Opens Up on WWE Backstage Issues

0

AEW’s Dax Harwood has opened up about some of the issues that he experienced during his tenure with WWE.

Signing with WWE in 2012, Harwood would spend time in NXT, Raw, and SmackDown, and would hold tag gold on each brand with Cash Wheeler.

In 2020, the pair once known as The Revival were granted their requested releases from WWE, and would debut for AEW in May of that year.

Superstar Attributes

Standing at five-foot-ten and tipping the scales at 223lbs, Harwood isn’t what your non-wrestling fan would consider a prototypical WWE Superstar.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated this week, Harwood opened up about his size and was well aware that he didn’t fit WWE’s mold of their usual top star.

“We weren’t blessed with superstar attributes. Look at Hulk Hogan and then look at Dax Harwood, and you see the obvious differences.”

Dax Harwood.

Despite this, WWE has had some smaller stars reach the top of the card, including Shawn Michaels (at the time the smallest World Champion,) CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan.

Backstage Issues

In the years since his WWE exit, Harwood has spoken openly about his difficulties adjusting to the main roster, after an impressive run in WWE NXT.

In the interview, Harwood said how issues affected every part of his run, right down to the verbiage he used on TV.

“There were battles backstage in WWE. I’ve been handed a script where my verbiage was, ‘I’m going to take the tracker down yonder.’ That’s not how I speak. I have two degrees, one in business communication and one in English, ones that I paid for myself.

“I had to fight for that verbiage to be taken away. If I hadn’t, I never would have reached the success I have.”

FTR’s final nail in the coffin was when they were pitched ‘Flava Flav-inspired redesigns by Vince McMahon, and the tag-team left shortly after.

Bizarre WWE Video Package is Reminding Fans of Sasha Banks

0

IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné won’t be making her WWE return anytime soon, but WWE doesn’t want the fans to know that.

Moné debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January, over seven months after walking out of the May 16, 2022, edition of Raw.

At last month’s Battle in the Valley event, Moné captured the IWGP Women’s Championship from KAIRI, in the former’s first match post-WWE.

Video Package

On next week’s Raw, John Cena will make his return to WWE TV, in his first appearance since the final SmackDown of 2022.

Unsurprisingly, WWE is hyping up the appearance of the 16-time World Champion, with a video that has reminded fans of Sasha Banks.

WWE’s video said that next week, Raw would host the return “you’ve been banking on,” with text in a similar style to that of Banks’ WWE run.

There are currently no plans for Moné to appear on next week’s Raw or any future episode of WWE programming going forward.

John Cena’s Return

Mercedes Moné won’t be on next week’s Raw, but Cena will be, likely to set up a WrestleMania match with United States Champion Austin Theory.

A feud between the two began last year, and a match was rumored for Summerslam 2022, though that never transpired.

It is unclear whether WWE will put Theory’s U.S. title on the line for the match with Cena, who is kept away from the promotion due to his Hollywood commitments.

WWE WrestleMania 39 will take place on April 1, and April 2, in Inglewood, California, and will be WWE’s fourth two-night edition of the annual supershow.

Grayson Waller Effect with Guest Shawn Michaels Confirmed for WWE NXT Roadblock

0

Grayson Waller’s issues with NXT Head Shawn Michaels are likely to reach a boiling point at the upcoming NXT Roadblock event.

Waller has proven to be a thorn in the side of the two-time WWE Hall of Famer for some time, after failing to dethrone NXT Champion Bronn Breakker.

On the post-NXT Vengeance Day Conference Call last month, Waller confronted Michaels and asked what he needs to do to have the support of HBK.

Grayson Waller Effect

Waller’s actions have earned him a suspension from WWE NXT, but the Australian Superstar will be around for NXT Roadblock.

On Twitter, Michaels confirmed with a statement that Waller will appear at NXT Roadblock, which will take place next week on March 7, and that he will be the guest on the Grayson Waller Effect.

“Every day I focus on the development of the young men and women of NXT. I had my time in the spotlight. Now that attention should be directed on these incredible Superstars.

“However, knowing Grayson’s behavior will only get worse, and against my better judgment, l accept the invitation to be on the Grayson Waller Effect next week at Roadblock and promise to be as professional as I can be.”

Shawn Michaels.

Other confirmed plans for NXT Roadblock include NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defending against Meiko Satomura.

Indus Sher will face the Creed Brothers and NXT Champion Bron Breakker in six-man tag-team action, while Dijak looks to settle things with Tony D’Angelo in a Jailhouse Street Fight.

Waller Vs. Michaels?

Many believe that this could set up a match between Waller and Michaels at a future NXT event.

Michaels retired from in-ring competition following his loss to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 in 2010.

In 2018, Michaels would have one more match, teaming with Triple H to defeat the Brothers of Destruction at that year’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia.

Released WWE Faction Reunites On The Independents

0

A former WWE tag team has shown that they are as unified as ever despite being released from the promotion a few years ago.

In April 2020, WWE began a new strategy of releasing talents in massive waves, which at the time was explained to talent as being due to “budget cuts.”

Many found the reasoning to be fishy, as the time of the releases was also a time when the company was recording the biggest profits and highest earnings.

Sanity

Members of Sanity were just some of the names cut as part of these waves, with Killian Dain being cut in June 2021.

This week, Dain, back under the name Big Damo, lost the PROGRESS Atlas Championship to Ricky Knight.

Post-match, Axel Tischer, formerly Alexander Wolfe in WWE, appeared to congratulate his Sanity comrade.

Wolfe would be part of Sanity and Imperium in WWE, before his release from WWE in May 2021.

His final match in WWE had been in a losing effort to Dain and was kicked out of Imperium afterward.

Other Members

Of all the members of Sanity, Nikki Cross (Damo’s wife) has gone on to be the group’s most successful member.

The Scottish Superstar is a former RAW Women’s Champion, WWE Women’s Tag Champion and WWE 24/7 Champion, as well as a Money in the Bank winner.

In December of last year, it was reported that Eric Young would be returning to WWE soon enough, after being released in April 2020.

Young returned to Impact Wrestling at that year’s Slammiversary event, and would win the Impact World Championship that same year.

Gigi Dolin did a promo segment on this show about returning last week and attacking Jacy Jayne, who turned on her a few weeks ago during a segment with Bayley after they lost a triple threat match at Vengeance Day while wrestling NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.

Dolin stood at the entrance way with a flower in her hand. Gigi said that three weeks ago, her life changed when Jayne turned on her. She said that isn’t the first time she’s had someone turned on her who she thought was family. Gigi said that Jayne made her realize who she really is. She said that Jayne and Toxic Attraction was all about material things. She said that her mother is just like Jayne who put her down. She said that she escaped her mother and now has escaped Jayne. She said next week at Roadblock, she will take all of her anger and put the final nail in the coffin of Toxic Attraction.

Jacy Jane vs. Gigi Dolin Set For 3/7 WWE NXT Roadblock

A grudge match is set for WWE NXT’s Roadblock event.

During the 2/28/23 episode of WWE NXT, Gigi Dolin addressed the brutal attack from former Toxic Attraction stablemate Jacy Jane a few weeks ago. Dolin went deep into her past when appearing on tonight’s edition of NXT when she noted that Jacy’s attack on her wasn’t even the most important backstabbing she’s been victim of in her life. Gigi said that she was forced to run away from home after being physically mistreated by her mother as a young girl.

Following Mandy Rose’s departure from WWE in December 2022, Jacy Jane and Gigi Dolin were left as the final members of Toxic Attraction. However, on the 2/14/23 edition of WWE NXT, Jane attacked Dolin during Bayley’s ‘Ding Dong, Hello!’ segment. Jacy’s attack on Gigi came just one week after the pair failed to defeat NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day, earlier this month.
