Corey Graves References Billy Gunn On WWE RAW (Video)

0

Corey Graves mentioned Billy Gunn during last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW.

D-Generation X celebrated their 25 year anniversary on the season debut of RAW last night, but were missing one notable member. While Triple H, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, and the Road Dogg were all in attendance – Billy Gunn was not present.

Gunn is currently employed by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). DX didn’t make any direct references to Gunn during their promos, but commentator Corey Graves certainly did.

X-Pac kicked things off by shouting out the late Chyna, who he called the “magic ingredient” to DX. Road Dogg followed up by doing his signature intro for The New Age Outlaws, letting the crowd do Gunn’s parts.

Just after the crowd said Gunn’s lines for him, Graves said “the other guy is doing something with office equipment these days, I’m not sure.” This was a play on Gunn’s current scissoring gimmick with The Acclaimed.

The segment wrapped up with Triple H doing the “Are You Ready?” line for the crowd, and Shawn Michaels saying “We Got Two Words For Ya!” RAW went off-air with DX celebrating and posing for the crowd.

Bobby Lashley Wants To Reunite The Hurt Business

0

Bobby Lashley apparently has his eye on reuniting The Hurt Business in WWE at some point.

Lashley was recently interviewed by Busted Open Radio, and was asked about being positioned as one of the top stars on Monday Night RAW.

“The Almighty” discussed his excitement about his U.S. Title run, and also put over a few other talents.

He then mentioned that he’d like to reunite The Hurt Business alongside MVP, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin.

“Some of my closest friends, even favorites, the Hurt Business. MVP is there with Omos. Shelton Benjamin is still doing his stuff. Cedric is there. I’d like to bring that group back together at some point in time.”

(WWE)

The Hurt Business slowly fizzled out shortly before WrestleMania earlier this year. Lashley and MVP were kept together as the latter managed him into a WWE Title run. However, the pair split up after WrestleMania, as MVP instead aligned with Omos.

On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Lashley was attacked by Brock Lesnar before his United States Title defense against Seth Rollins.

Rollins would take advantage of the attack, curb stomping Bobby Lashley twice for the win and the United States Title.

Aliyah Confirms Rib and Shoulder Injuries

0

Aliyah has confirmed that she suffered rib and shoulder injuries last month.

The former  WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion posted an injury update on Tuesday via Instagram. She revealed she suffered rib and shoulder injuries last month. The injuries are an elevated first rib and AC sprain on the September 12 episode of Raw, where she and Raquel Rodriguez lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles to Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai & IYO SKY.

Aliyah mentioned she doesn’t know when she will return to action, but she can’t wait to get back in the ring.

Aliyah’s Statement

aliyah raquel

“It’s been a month so here I go straight from the horses mouth: I have to say my last match was probably one of my most favorite. And I would like to thank my tag partner Raquel and Damage CTRL And everyone involved. Yes I got injured mid match, however I have this overwhelming gratitude towards the incident because I felt like it pulled out a version of me that I never even knew existed. ‘Keep going!’ I remember thinking. ‘I never get opportunities like this one’ another voice in my head screamed. So idc I’m going to keep going and keep showing out. The emotions and energy I was feeling in the moment truly lit me up inside and I felt INDESTRUCTIBLE in that moment (yes, with an elevated first rib and ac sprain and all.) I am very grateful to get to do what I do and I hope my passion and efforts transcended thru your television screen.

I don’t know what the future holds or when I’ll be back. But I just want to say thank you for everyone that has reached out. I really can’t wait to get back in the ring.”

Aliyah and Rodriguez became the Women’s Tag Team Champions when they won the tournament to crown new champs after Sasha Banks and Naomi were stripped of the titles when they walked out. Aliyah & Rodriguez held the titles for 14 days before losing them.

Why Critics Are Wrong To Compare AEW With WCW

0

Since its inception, AEW has had its core body of devoted fans. They’re the supporters who believed in the company’s vision of posing a meaningful alternative to WWE. They’re fans of the WWE alumni who have been better used under the AEW banner, like Jon Moxley and Christian Cage, as well as fresher talents AEW gave an opportunity to shine like MJF and Hangman Page. They’re fans of faster-paced AEW style embodied in acts like Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

However, for all the fans AEW has amassed, the company also has its vocal critics who have only intensified with time, AEW’s higher profile, and particularly a web of controversies that have put the company under siege in recent months. One common talking point from these critics has been that AEW is looking an awful lot like WCW. While there are superficial similarities, these comparisons are mostly wrongheaded.

Why Some Fans Compare AEW With WCW

WCW Champion Hulk Hogan AEW Champion Jon

There are surface level reasons why someone might relate AEW to WCW. Like WCW, AEW is a rival promotion to WWE, and just so happens to air its weekly programming on Turner cable networks. Just as WCW was financially backed by billionaire Ted Turner and his organization, AEW is owned and operated by billionaire Tony Khan. There’s also the narrative line that like WCW relying on WWE-established stars like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and Bret Hart, AEW has heavily featured talents like Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and Bryan Danielson.

Additionally, the controversy around CM Punk this summer drew a spotlight to issues with talents having undue influence on the product (as Punk arguably did and may still), besides wrestlers like Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks serving in executive vice president roles. These dynamics harkened back to the narrative of “the inmates running the asylum” in WCW, with figures like Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash wielding different levels of formal or informal stroke during their tenures as on-air talents. WCW was all but synonymous with chaos in its late stages. Between the Punk issues, talents requesting their releases, and the most recent issues pitting Sammy Guevara against Eddie Kingston and Andrade El Idolo, AEW has started to feel the same way to some spectators.

The Management Structure Of WCW Posed Very Different Challenges

Tony Khan Ted Turner

One of the fundamental differences between AEW and WCW is the management structure each organization had.  Personalities ranging from Bill Watts to Kevin Sullivan to Eric Bischoff to Vince Russo to Kevin Nash dictated the creative direction of WCW at different points. Regardless of each of these men’s talents and limitations, there were always awkward structures around them answering to non-wrestling people within the Turner or Time Warner organizations.

In his first book and his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff discussed his frustrations working with executives who couldn’t even name what night of the week Nitro aired on. Bischoff has gone on to paint a clear picture that, particularly after Time Warner took over, the powers that be were more interested in ridding themselves of the pro wrestling albatross than setting up WCW to thrive.

Like anyone producing a television product, AEW’s Tony Khan has network executives, advertisers, and other business partners to please. The ownership structure and chain of command is much more streamlined, however. It’s possible Khan could run his company into the ground, but if he does, it won’t be because of decisions that were made over his head within the company, which poses a fundamental difference from how WCW was structured.

AEW Had Been Steady In Its Aesthetic

Kenny Omega Vs Bryan Danielson

When fans look back on WCW, there are very distinctive different eras they might consider from its twelve-and-a-half year run. In its early days, WCW largely reflected the same talents and style as Jim Crockett Promotions, in particular anchoring itself around Ric Flair and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

From there, Hulk Hogan signed and launched a two year period in which WCW felt like a WWE Golden Era “tribute band”, featuring many of the big names WWE had spotlighted in the 1980s and a cartoonish vibe.

That gave way to WCW’s greatest commercial success when it recentered around a more realistic tone, rooted in the New World Order faction, accented by the Crow version of Sting and the emergence of stars like Diamond Dallas Page and Goldberg. The wheels came off in the years to follow as WCW teetered out of control with erratic booking and over-reliance on worked shoot angles.

To be fair, AEW has only existed for a little over three years, so it’s too soon to speak to its long-term style and aesthetic. Just the same, from what we’ve seen so far, the company’s direction has been largely steady with an emphasis on in-ring action, a faster pace, and storytelling that is provocative, while rarely soap opera-esque. This is a style of presentation that bears little resemblance to any stage of WCW, instead feeling a bit more like a hybrid of the original ECW and ROH’s heyday.

In the end, every wrestling promotion has some degree of similarity to others, and over time it’s possible AEW will come to legitimately offer more similarities to WCW. For now, though, there are far more differences than commonalities between the two major promotions, and fans are best served to consider AEW on its own merits.

Aliyah Reveals She Was Injured During Recent WWE Tag Team Title Match

0

Aliyah wants to clear the air regarding her noticeable absence from WWE programming.

The 27-year old star released a new post on her personal Instagram revealing that she suffered an injury during her tag team title matchup against Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai) from an episode of Raw last month, where her and her partner Raquel Rodriguez lost the titles after a short reign as champions.

When talking about the match Aliyah calls it one of her personal favorites because the injury she suffered caused her to push forward, adding that she unleashed a side of herself that she never knew existed.

“It’s been a month so here I go straight from the horses mouth. I have to say my last match was probably one of my most favorite. And I would like to thank my tag partner Raquel and Damage CTRL And everyone involved. Yes I got injured mid match, however I have this overwhelming gratitude towards the incident because I felt like it pulled out a version of me that I never even knew existed. “Keep going!” I remember thinking. “I never get opportunities like this one” another voice in my head screamed.

So idc I’m going to keep going and keep showing out. The emotions and energy I was feeling in the moment truly lit me up inside and I felt INDESTRUCTIBLE in that moment (yes, with an elevated first rib and ac sprain and all.)”

Aliyah ends her passage by saying she is very grateful to be a professional wrestler, and is looking forward to getting back into the ring.

“I am very grateful to get to do what I do and I hope my passion and efforts transcended thru your television screen. I don’t know what the future holds or when I’ll be back. But I just want to say thank you for everyone that has reached out. I really can’t wait to get back in the ring. “

Aliyah and Rodriguez were the first champions following the walkout of Sasha Banks and Naomi, where the duo won an eight team tournament to capture the belts. Neither WWE or Aliyah has confirmed how long she will be out of action.

Stay tuned.

MJF On His Current Relationship With Cody Rhodes

0

Even though he is only 26 years old, MJF is already one of the top stars of the pro wrestling world. The Salt of The Earth is one of the smartest pro wrestlers of today’s generation so he hardly ever needs to look to anyone else for advice. When he does need a second opinion on something, he turns to none other than Cody Rhodes.

The AEW star recently joined Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling. He talked about things such as the backstage brawl between The Elite and CM Punk at All Out and Chris Jericho’s recent comments about him.

When asked about his current relationship with Cody Rhodes, MJF claimed that they’re ‘best friends.’ Per the 26-year-old, he calls Rhodes every once in a while, when he needs a second opinion on something:

“I’ll still call him when I honestly need… rarely do I need advice – I mean, look at me. But I’ll call him because I respect the shit out of him. I’ll call him to get a second masterful opinion.”

– MJF

MJF and Cody Rhodes had been working together since the very beginning of AEW. The latter took the young star under his wing and they had a long partnership. This partnership ended when the Wrestling Devil caused Rhodes to lose a match against Chris Jericho at Full Gear 2019 and turned on the now WWE star afterward.

Jim Ross Would Like to Call Football Again, on One Condition

0

Jim Ross isn’t opposed to calling the action of a Football game, but not if it takes away from his responsibilities with AEW.

Ross joined Tony Khan’s promotion in January 2019 and has been a staple of AEW for the company ever since.

Commentary

Ross is considered one of the greatest wrestling commentators to don a headset, but isn’t just interested in the sport.

It’s no secret that JR is an avid football fan, calling a season for the Atlanta Falcons in 1992, and would call another season for the team in 1994.

When asked during the latest Grilling JR whether he wants to return to football commentary, Ross said it would depend.

“If it meant leaving AEW, the answer would be emphatically no. I like what I’m doing. But would it be fun to be in a booth for a game? Sure. I’m a football fan and I’m a broadcaster, so I think it all goes hand in hand. But the bottom line is I have my perfect job right now.”

Rampage

In June this year, JR was moved from being a full-time commentator for AEW Dynamite, to a full-time commentator for AEW Rampage.

While many have seen this as a demotion for the WWE Hall of Famer, Ross doesn’t share this viewpoint.

“I’m excited. I appreciate the things people have been saying about Rampage. We’re trying to build that brand. Friday nights are a daunting night for any TV programming. But we’ve got work, and I thought our last two or three shows on Rampage have been solid as hell.”

Jim Ross Says Jon Moxley’s Five-Year Deal is “Stabilizing” for AEW

0

AEW commentator Jim Ross is thrilled to see AEW World Champion Jon Moxley sign a new long-term deal with the company.

Last week, a statement from Tony Khan’s promotion confirmed that Moxley has re-signed for a five-year deal.

The new deal will see Moxley compete almost exclusively for AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling, as the two promotions enjoy a working relationship.

Stabilizing

Moxley’s re-signing is some much-needed good news for Khan, whose company has recently faced a series of scandals.

Injuries, fight backstage and reports of an unhappy roster have been just some of the problems AEW has had to deal with recently.

Speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, Ross spoke of the ‘stabilizing’ effect Moxley’s re-signing will have.

“I think it’s very stabilizing for our roster. He’s our top guy, he’s the champ. So he’s emotionally invested. To sign a five-year deal, at his age, you’re invested. I’m really happy to see that happen.”

Jim Ross.

There’s no word yet on how much Moxley will make per year on his new deal for the company.

Exclusivity

Moxley’s new deal is good news for AEW, but bad news for Game Changer Wrestling.

At GCW’s Fight Club: Night One event, Moxley lost the GCW World Heavyweight Championship to Nick Gage in a title vs. career match.

With the title loss, Moxley is not expected to make many more appearances for the company.

His new deal with AEW still allows him to make rare appearances but will be on a “surprise basis” presumably not advertised in advance.

MJF On The Brawl Between CM Punk & The Elite At AEW All Out: “I Wish Everyone Involved The Best Of Luck”

0

MJF returned to All Elite Wrestling at All Out but the wrestling world was talking about the brawl between CM Punk and The Elite following the PPV.

The brawl resulted in AEW President Tony Khan stripping CM Punk of the AEW World Championship and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks of the Trios Championships. Death Triangle captured the Trios Championships on the Dynamite following All Out and Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson in the finals of the Tournament of Champions at Dynamite: Grand Slam to become the new champion.

MJF is in line for a title shot and Moxley will put the title on the line against Hangman Page on a special Tuesday night edition of Dynamite on October 18th.

MJF Comments On The Brawl Between CM Punk & The Elite

MJF was recently a guest on Sam Roberts’ Notsam Wrestling show. Sam brought up the backstage incident following AEW All Out and noted how Jon Moxley & MJF seized their opportunity a few days later on Dynamite.

Roberts said that both MJF and Jon were able to get fans to forget about the drama from a moment. MJF quoted CM Punk’s pipebomb promo where he said he’s just a spoke on the wheel and the wheel is going to keep spinning no matter who is in the locker room.

I think it has honestly become less interesting as time has gone on and isn’t that telling, right? Because that is what professional wrestling is.

I’ll use a phrase from a guy that was involved in it (CM Punk), it’s a wheel. And it is going to keep on turning.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, everyone that was involved in this thing is crazy talented. Crazy talented. And whatever happens, whichever way this goes, I wish everyone involved the best of luck.

But like we just discussed, AEW is insane right now and that is not hyperbole. Ratings have been going up, the key demographic has been going up.

Even with this crazy bulls*** nut job hurricane, where you know that the news media is going to be fear-mongering, and like ‘you’re all gonna die!’, we still hit a great demo.

That is the end of the story and I think that it is why it has become a bit of a moot point. It was much more interesting when it went down.

WWE Interested in Star Who Recently Left Impact Wrestling

0

Matt Taven may be the next wrestler to ink a contract with WWE, at least if the promotion gets its way.

Taven joined Impact Wrestling earlier this year, appearing at January’s ‘Hard to Kill’ event as part of Honor No More.

Last weekend, it was reported that Taven, alongside Maria Bennett, Maria Kanellis-Bennett, and Vincent have left the promotion.

WWE’s Interest

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that WWE has a great deal of interest in Taven.

“I know WWE has [an] interest in Taven.”

Dave Meltzer.

Meltzer added that while WWE is interested in Matt Taven, Stephanie McMahon’s company isn’t his only option.

“I would think that also Taven, Bennett, and Maria could go to New Japan [Pro Wrestling] because they have history there. I don’t know about AEW. If there’s something going on at Ring of Honor they could go there, because they were Ring of Honor people.”

Matt Taven

While Taven recently left Impact Wrestling, the majority of his success has come in Ring of Honor.

A former World Champion, Tag Champion and Television, Taven is the promotion’s fifth Triple Crown winner.

Also being a former six-man Tag Team Champion, Taven is the company’s second-ever ROH Grand Slam winner, behind Christopher Daniels.

Taven has also competed in CMLL, and New Japan, and he is the second person to hold gold in both those companies as well as Ring of Honor (behind Rocky Romero.)

Since 2016, he and Bennett have operated a wrestling school located in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

AEW & Others Sent Feelers to Bray Wyatt Before WWE Return

0

Bray Wyatt made his return to WWE at last weekend’s Extreme Rules Premium Live Event, but only after some efforts from other promotions.

Wyatt’s return came after weeks of ‘White Rabbit’ teases, and the former Universal Champion earned a thunderous response in Philadelphia.

Bray had been controversially released from WWE, which was reportedly over creative differences with then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Feelers

Wyatt’s return is yet another victory for WWE’s Head of Talent Relations Triple H, who has brought back several released talents since being appointed in July.

Sports Illustrated reports that while WWE was negotiating with Wyatt, AEW had sent ‘feelers’ to gauge Bray’s interest in joining.

Impact Wrestling and AAA also sent feelers, trying to determine if Wyatt would consider signing with them instead.

It had been previously reported that Wyatt’s asking price had left all but the biggest promotions unable to afford appearances from the former Universal Champion.

What’s Next?

With Wyatt now back with WWE, the biggest question is what is next for him?

Some have suggested that Wyatt is set to start a new Wyatt family, with many pointing to the characters featured at Extreme Rules.

As part of his return, individuals dressed as Huskus the Pig, Ramblin’ Rabbit, Abby the Witch, Mercy the Buzzard and The Fiend made appearances.

Grayson Waller, who many believe played Mercy the Buzzard, teased involvement in Wyatt, having a Bray Wyatt head lantern in the background of a recent tweet.

Wyatt’s next appearance has been confirmed for this Friday’s episode of SmackDown on FOX.

Jake Roberts to “A**hole” Bret Hart: You Got What you Deserved in Montreal

0

Did Bret screw Bret as Vince McMahon once infamously claimed? Certainly so, according to Jake ‘The Snake Roberts.

In 1997, Hart was infamously ‘screwed’ out of the WWF Championship at the Survivor Series, after refusing to lose to real-life rival Shawn Michaels.

An agreement was made that Bret would retain at Survivor Series and vacate the title the next night on Raw, while not under contract with the WWF.

Instead, Hart and Michaels ‘screwed’ Bret of the title, giving Shawn a submission win without Bret tapping out.

You Deserve It

Bret being screwed is the most infamous example of a champion not losing the title, but hardly the only one.

When Rick Rude left the NWA to join the WWF, he did so as one-half of the NWA World Tag Champions.

Speaking on this week’s DDP Snake Pit podcast about Rude made his thoughts clear on champions and on Montreal.

“I don’t agree with that [leaving as Champion] at all. You know, there’s been so many guys who get away with it too. Holding up promoters because they don’t want to lose the title in a certain area. Maybe Canada, has that ever happened? Oh wait, it did. Shawn and Bret. He didn’t want to drop it in Canada, so they [Vince McMahon and others] screwed him.

“You didn’t get screwed a**hole! You got what you deserved. How do you have the right, not to drop that title? That title, that was given to you. You did not beat up anybody to get that.

“You didn’t get screwed a**hole! You got what you deserved.”

Jake Roberts on Bret Hart.

“The reason you have that title is because some other schmuck was a good enough guy to lose to you [The Undertaker at Summerslam 1997.] So you not dropping that title tells me you don’t give a flying f*ck about anybody else but yourself, and that’s very selfish. It’s wrong and if you are contemplating doing it, that’s for you.”

Working with Rick

While Rude would be part of DX at the time of the Montreal Screwjob, the act left a deep impression on the Ravishing One.

Rude would leave for WCW immediately after the Screwjob, and would bash Shawn Michaels and DX.

Speaking about Rude, Roberts said it was great working with him.

“It was very easy for me. I always play up to whatever they have. And Rick had a lot, so I could play up to a lot of things with him. So I was very comfortable with him and I was very fortunate that he listened to me.”

Rude sadly passed in 1999 and would be posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

“Who Doesn’t Love Me?” – MJF Reacts To Chris Jericho Saying He Will Be One Of The Top Babyfaces In AEW

0

Popular AEW star MJF recently discussed Chris Jericho with Sam Roberts on the Notsam Wrestling show.

Chris Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli to win the ROH Championship but cheated to do so. Chris is set to defend the ROH Championship in Toronto tomorrow night on Dynamite against another Blackpool Combat Club member.

Bryan Danielson will look to avenge his loss to Jericho at Dynamite: Grand Slam this Wednesday night and become the ROH Champion once again. Jericho challenged Danielson to the match after defeating Bandido on Dynamite on September 28th.

MJF On Possibly Becoming A Good Guy In AEW

During the conversation on Notsam Wrestling, Roberts brought up Chris Jericho’s comments about MJF during the media scrum where he said MJF is going to wind up being one of the top babyfaces in the company.

@_denisesalcedo

? original sound – Denise Salcedo

MJF jokingly agreed with Chris and said that he’s already a great guy and is salt of the earth. Maxwell compared his reaction to that of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and noted that he gets the loudest pop in the company.

I think I’m a great guy. I think I’m salt of the earth. You kidding me? So I totally agree with Chris. Who doesn’t love me? And that’s the thing, like I said, you’ll find the biggest stars in our industry today are all going through the exact same thing.

This is just true, when I come through the curtain when Roman comes through the curtain, this is a good example. You will hear the crowd and it’s deafening. There’s cheers going on and there’s boos going on. But the most important thing is, it is the loudest it will be all night.

Now, do I feel that there will come a time in my career where I will entire lean into the cheering, I don’t know. What I do know is what I care about the most and that is money. I’m not changing a damn thing.

“I Was Not Prepared” – MJF Reveals That He Wasn’t Ready To Be Cheered In AEW

0

AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman sat down with Sam Roberts for an interview on Notsam Wrestling and admitted that he was not ready to be cheered by the fans.

Maxwell returned at AEW All Out in September after a hiatus that lasted several months. Stokely Hathaway’s The Firm faction helped a man in a devil mask win the Casino Ladder match.

The man was later revealed to be MJF when he showed up following CM Punk’s victory over Jon Moxley to become AEW World Champion. CM Punk’s title reign would be incredibly short-lived, as he was injured in the match and was also suspended following a brawl with The Elite after his rant at the media scrum.

All of these factors led to MJF receiving a hero’s welcome from the crowd on the following Dynamite. Maxwell has since referred to his fans as his “devil worshippers”.

MJF On Not Being Prepared To Be Cheered

During the interview on Notsam Wrestling, Roberts asked if he was amused by fans who cheer Max because they believe they are in on it. MJF revealed that he was initially not prepared for the fans to start cheering him.

I’m going to be completely transparent, I was not prepared for the devil worshippers. Now I’m all for it. Grab your pitchforks daddy let’s go. I’m all for it.

When I came out I had what used to be called a LoD (Legion of Doom) pop, it is now an MJF pop.

My ears were bleeding and we were in Chicago of all places. When I got to the back, it was that moment I went ‘oh, this is new, okay’.

And the way I look at it now is this, I’m a megastar. When my music hits, I’m going to get a guttural reaction from the fans.

Because there’s nothing like me in professional wrestling. If you want to cheer me, cheer me. If you want to boo me, boo me.

It also seems to be dependent on where we are at. For example, we were just in Philadelphia and I saw people trying to get over the guardrail to get at me.

MJF is in line for a title opportunity at a time in place of his choosing. Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Hangman Page. on Dynamite on a special Tuesday night episode on October 18th.

Jey offered up Sami instead and Zayn wound up challenging Riddle to a match later tonight.

The Judgment Day boasted about the attack and Dominik bragged about beating down Rey. AJ Styles interrupted and admitted that there comes a time when a man needs friends and family.

AJ knelt before Judgment Day and then shared a hug with Finn Balor. Finn told AJ that he is so proud of him and he knew that he would finally come around. Styles then revealed that he wasn’t talking about Balor.

Gallows and Anderson then made their return and stood beside AJ Styles. The crowd chanted “holy sh**” as a brawl broke out. Gallows, Anderson, and Styles (The OC) beat down Judgment Day as the crowd cheered.

AJ sent Balor flying over the announce table as Luke Gallows bashed Damian with a chair. Judgment Day retreated through the crowd but left Finn Balor behind. Finn sprinted away as The OC stood tall in the ring.

Byron Saxton sat down with Damage CTRL backstage. Dakota Kai stated that she was at rock bottom and Bayley was the only one to extend a hand to try and help her. Dakota added that Bianca, Asuka, and Alexa have no idea what they would do for Bayley. The Role Model vowed to “kick Candice’s ass” tonight.

Bayley battled Candice LeRae in a singles match. Candice controlled the action early and rolled up Bayley for a near fall. The Poison Pixie was still in control when RAW returned from a break. LeRae connected with a Senton but kept grabbing her knee in pain. Candice followed it up with a Dropkick and went for the cover but The Role Model kicked out at two.

Bobby Lashley was set to defend United States Championship against Seth Rollins tonight on WWE RAW. Lashley called out Seth before the match but The Beast Brock Lesnar showed up instead.

Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring as Bobby stared at him. Lesnar circled Lashley in the ring while posing for the crowd. Brock said “well holy sh**, good evening Brooklyn!” to pop the crowd. Lesnar then said good evening to Lashley and hit the champion with an F5.

The crowd chanted “one more time” and Lesnar nodded. Brock planted Bobby with a German Suplex and then another F5. The crowd chanted “one more time” once again and Brock smiled again. Lesnar applied the Kimura Lock before exiting the ring.

Rollins hit the Stomp and fired up the crowd instead of going for the cover. Rollins conducted the crowd to sing his theme before hitting another Stomp for the pinfall victory. Seth Rollins is the new United States Champion.

Byron Saxton interviewed Bobby Lashley backstage and vowed to get revenge on Seth Rollins. Bobby challenged Brock Lesnar to be on RAW next week and said he will show that The Beast is just a little b****.

Bray Wyatt Video, Riddle def. Sami Zayn

A new Bray Wyatt video was shown tonight on WWE RAW. “I used to think that the place inside my head is the place only place I could truly be free. Revel in what you are” was then said over and over again to end the video.

Matt Riddle squared off against Sami Zayn tonight on RAW and The Usos were ringside for the match. Riddle controlled the match early and leveled Sami with a kick to the face. Matt beat Sami down in the corner before unloading a forearm strike to his face for a near fall.

The Honorary Uce battled back and choked Riddle against the ropes. Jey hit Riddle with a cheap shot and Sami yelled at Jey that he can handle this. Zayn hit a springboard Moonsault onto Riddle outside the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Sami hit an elbow to the head off the middle turnbuckle for a two count. Riddle responded with a Pele Kick and both stars fell to the canvas. Matt connected with a Suplex and followed it up with a Broton.

Triple H asked Brooklyn if they were ready and said for 25 years “we would like to say thank you and we love you all”. The Game joked that he needed to catch his breath first before saying “let’s get ready to suck it!” as the crowd cheered. Shawn Michaels grabbed the microphone and a loud “HBK!” chant broke out. Shawn asked the crowd to put them out of their misery if they are back out here in 25 years. Michaels added “if you ain’t down with that, we’ve got two words for you, suck it!” to close the show.

Seth Rollins Wins WWE United States Title

0

Seth Rollins has dethroned Bobby Lashley as the WWE United States Champion.

On Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Rollins was supposed to challenge Lashley for the title. However, before he did, Brock Lesnar made his return and attacked Lashley by hitting him with a few F5s and locking in the kimura submission hold.

Lashley was being helped from ringside by some referees when Rollins walked out, got into the ring to cut a promo in typical heel fashion, and talked down to Lashley as a way to try to fire him up and accept the match despite being injured.

Seth Rollins is a Champion Again

Lashley bit on the bait and accepted the match. Rollins managed to get some near falls with a pedigree and a frog splash off the top rope. WWE kept Lashley strong and had him connect with a few moves before Rollins laid him out with the stomp to become the new champion.

Rollins just lost to Matt Riddle in the Fight Pit Match at Saturday’s Extreme Rules, with UFC Legend Daniel Cormier serving as the special guest referee.

Brock Lesnar Attacks Bobby Lashley During WWE Raw Return

0

Brock Lesnar didn’t stay away from WWE television for long as he returned on the season premiere edition of Monday Night Raw.

It happened when Lesnar came out and hit a few F5s to United States Champion Bobby Lashley, who was slated to defend the title against Seth Rollins. Lashley also put him in the kimura. It appears this may have been done to set up a rematch between them at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia next month.

Brock is Back

Lesnar was last seen on WWE programming when he wrestled Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a last man standing match in the main event of the SummerSlam event. Lesnar came up short in that match that was supposed to put an “end” to their rivalry but went out in style when he lifted up the ring with a tractor that sent Reigns tumbling out of the ring.

As of this writing, Lesnar is advertised for the WWE Day 1 premium event on January 1, 2023, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, the Royal Rumble next January in San Antonio, TX, and WrestleMania 39 next April in Los Angeles, CA.

WWE will likely add him to more shows in the coming days.

“Young Rock” Star at Season Premiere of RAW

0

“Young Rock” star, Uli Latukefu, was shown ringside during RAW. He even did the famous eyebrow raise and smelled what someone was cooking.

Young Rock was recently renewed for a third season back in May. The show is being moved from Tuesday nights to Friday nights and will go one-on-one with SmackDown. The show follows Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s life from childhood, his teenage years, going to the University of Miami, and becoming a wrestler.

Johnson is currently promoting his film, BLACK ADAM. The film will be released on October 21. He has long been rumored to be Roman Reigns’s opponent at WrestleMania 39 at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. It’s all dependent on Johnson’s busy schedule.

Season three of Young Rock will premiere on Friday, November 4 at 8:30 PM ET on NBC.

Backstage News on Who is Training Logan Paul for WWE Crown Jewel Match

0

WWE has selected two agents to be in charge of training Logan Paul for his upcoming Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel.

This match is expected to headline the Crown Jewel event on November 5 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PWInsider reports that former WWE Cruiserweight Champions Shane Helms and Drew Gulak are training Paul.

The bout was made official during a press conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite only working a handful of matches so far in his pro wrestling career, this will mark Paul’s first championship match and main event.

Reigns is undefeated in his previous two matches at Crown Jewel events as at last year’s Crown Jewel, Reigns defeated his longtime rival Brock Lesnar to retain the Universal Championship.

Paul called out Reigns after having him on his podcast. Paul speculated that he’d win in a match against Roman back in June, noting that his second-ever boxing opponent was Floyd Mayweather. He confronted Reigns on this past Friday’s SmackDown, where he had a promo segment that involved Reigns, flanked by Paul Heyman and The Usos. Paul promised to smash Paul worse than he’s ever been.

The Good Brothers Return to WWE on Raw

0

The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) are back in WWE as they returned during Monday Night Raw.

There was a segment in the second hour where Finn Balor was doing a promo in the ring with Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley. He bragged about his win over Edge at Extreme Rules.

Balor gave AJ Styles a choice to side with Judgment Day or be against them. AJ came out and said he was not out there to argue with Balor, but everything he ever needed was standing in front of him.

He said he needed friends and hugged Balor, acting like he was going to join the group. Styles told him that he wasn’t talking about Balor. However, Gallows and Anderson walked out instead, leading to a brawl where Gallows and Anderson stood tall in the ring with Styles.

This was expected as the Good Brothers return was previously reported by PWinsider.com, where they were seen spotted filming content with Styles as they reunited The OC.

For what it’s worth, Anderson is the current NJPW NEVER Openweight Champion. Gallows and Anderson finished up with Impact Wrestling in August.

WWE made overtures over the summer about having the Good Brother return when Vince McMahon was still with the company. However, a deal wasn’t reached because Gallows and Anderson wouldn’t come back for a cheap price. In 2019, they felt like they were burnt by WWE when they opted to re-sign instead of taking a deal with AEW, and WWE released them several months later.

Former ROH Stars Backstage For WWE Raw Season Premiere

0

Tonight WWE presents their season premiere of their flagship program Raw, which is taking place from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York, and will be featuring the reunion of the legendary Degeneration-X faction, as well as a number of matches from your favorite WWE superstars.

However, aside from their normal talent and staff there are two unusual presences. According to PW Insider, former ROH stars Vincent and Dutch (aka Bill Carr) are backstage ahead of tonight’s show. The report does not mention whether the two men will be used on programming or if they are just visiting friends backstage.

Vincent and Dutch were both members of the group known a The Righteous, and held ROH Six-man tag team gold together. While that was Dutch’s only title reign in ROH Vincent held the six-man title on four separate occasions.

Dutch was actually signed to a WWE development contract back in 2010, and worked for the company’s FCW brand, which would eventually morph into NXT. He would be released in 2011 and began working steadily on the indies before making his way to Ring of Honor.

Vincent just finished up a run in IMPACT Wrestling as a member of the Honor No More group.

Stay tuned for more backstage updates.

Two WWE NXT Stars Worked Main Event Before Monday’s Raw

0

Two WWE NXT stars got the chance to work in front of a large crowd for the first time in their careers at Monday’s Raw for the Main Event taping.

On WWE Main Event, Carmelo Hayes and Von Wagner will appear on this week’s episode.  R-Truth shared the ring with Wagner while Hayes wrestled Cedric Alexander. Before the Hayes vs. Alexander match, Hayes got to do some promo work.

More NXT Stars Work Main Event

Carmelo Hayes

Just last week, WWE brought in Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen, and Fallon Henley to work the Main Event taping at Monday Night Raw. It appears that WWE is going back to the trend of looking at its developmental talent on a bigger stage than NXT to see if they’re ready for the main roster.

At the October 22nd Halloween Havoc special, Hayes will work a Ladder match for the NXT North American Championship alongside Oro Mensah, Wes Lee, Wagner and the winner of Nathan Frazer vs. Axiom on Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

Hayes lost the North American Title to Solo Sikoa on NXT TV last month before Sikoa was stripped of the title because he wasn’t authorized to participate.
