Backstage News on What’s Changed Since Triple H Took Over WWE Creative

0

We have some backstage news to pass along regarding what’s changed since Triple H took over WWE creative.

There have already been a few tweaks to the creative process in WWE since Triple H assumed leadership, according to a report at PWInsider. The past few weeks have seen things “loosen up” when it comes to scripting promos and matches.

Talents are reportedly allowed to improvise more. Specifically, it was noted that the Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre match on SmackDown last week.

A solid bit of the match was called inside the ring as opposed to having everything planned out beforehand.

Triple H

Triple H took over the head of WWE creative after Vince McMahon retired from WWE. McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced, following several investigations into the matter.

McMahon then retired as the head of WWE creative, leaving his son-in-law to take over. There seems to be a general positive reaction to Triple H taking over.

In fact, the USA Network seemed pretty happy with the direction “The Game” wants to go. Monday Night RAW this week was allowed to go for one-hour without any commercials.

The first RAW under Triple H also received generally good reviews after it was all said and done. It will be interesting to see how things progress under the former WWE Champion moving forward.

Talent Losing their Spots?

Things seem to be off to a great start under Triple H, but not everybody is optimistic about the new regime.

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer, there are “definitely” some stars who are worried about losing their spots now that Vince McMahon is no longer with WWE.

With that said there are already talents who are getting featured more under Triple H than Vince McMahon. Mustafa Ali competed on his first Raw in months last night, later tweeting “opportunity” following his loss in the triple threat between himself, The Miz, and AJ Styles.

The Game also brought back Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai at SummerSlam, two top talents that were cut earlier in the year with Vince McMahon still at the helm.

Big Plans are in the Works for Ciampa on WWE Raw

0

WWE has undergone dramatic changes over the past few weeks, ever since Vince McMahon resigned from all roles with the company.

In his place as head of Creative, Triple H has replaced his father-in-law, in addition to being appointed head of Talent Relations.

Many Superstars who have a history working with Triple H in NXT are reported to be optimistic about the future, and one Superstar, in particular, could soon be doing very well.

A Change in Presentation

Earlier this year, Ciampa was called up to the main roster, despite previously stating his intention to spend his WWE career in NXT.

Since joining the Raw roster, the two-time former NXT Champion has worked with The Miz, and big things are seemingly in his future.

Fightful reports that Ciampa is a personal favorite of Triple H, and is expected to benefit from “the Game” being in charge behind the scenes.

An idea pitched for Ciampa is for him to be put in more matches that showcase his in-ring ability, with a United States title match against Bobby Lashley confirmed on this week’s Raw.

Another idea includes bringing back his theme from NXT, but Fightful stressed that this has not been confirmed.

Impressing People

Ciampa has received positive reviews behind the scenes ever since his call-up to Raw.

Specifically, he has been praised by peers and staff for his work with The Miz, and his willingness to embrace the role by the former WWE Champion’s side.

One source called Ciampa’s demeanor “great” and that he has worked hard to make the best of everything presented to him by Vince McMahon, despite once planning on never joining the main roster.

AEW star Toni Storm will be on the cover of the latest issue of Fitness Gurls magazine. The issue will be released on August 3rd in both print and digital.

As seen below, Storm looks stunning:

After working the 2017 edition of the Mae Young Classic Storm signed with WWE in 2018 and was used mainly on the NXT UK brand. She later won the 2018 Mae Young Classic and later became the NXT UK Women’s Champion.

Storm was called up to the main roster in July 2020 as part of the SmackDown brand. However, she requested her WWE release in December after feuding with Charlotte Flair. It was granted, and she was let go. Shortly after her release, she opened an OnlyFans account, which has been very lucrative

So far this year, Storm holds a 13-2 record in AEW and has been pushed as a top star. She made it to the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Semi-Finals before losing to Britt Baker. She also came up short when challenging Thunder Rosa for the Women’s Title at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door.

Bryan Danielson Considered Being A Full Time Dad Before AEW Debut

0

When Bryan Danielson decided to leave WWE, many thought that going to AEW was the only thing in his mind. Though the former world champion was also considering a third option – not being a full-time wrestler anymore.

The AEW star joined Renee Paquette for a live episode of The Sessions podcast at Starrcast V. Speaking about his decision to leave WWE, Bryan revealed the third option he was considering. He also joked that his wife Brie Bella wanted to kill him for it:

“People think I had two options between WWE and AEW. The reality is that I was considering three options, which was WWE, AEW or just not being a full-time wrestler anymore.” said Bryan Danielson, “Just being more of a full-time dad.

When I told that to Brie with the money that each company was offering me, I think she wanted to kill me? She might have wanted to kill me.”

Bryan then explained that his decision came down to a lighter schedule, creative freedom, and the itch to bleed in front of an audience:

“Really it came down to a little bit schedule, A little bit of creative freedom and also just this idea of I’ve been there for so long. Maybe something a little bit new would be fun. I also kind of wanted to bleed.”

Valentina Rossi Details Extreme WOW Contract Terms & Why She Turned Them Down

0

Valentina Rossi recently spoke to Steve Fall of SEScoops about her time in Women of Wrestling and why she decided to part ways with the company.

Valentina Rossi has been a constant mainstay talent on AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation where she’s faced wrestlers like Nyla Rose, Marina Shafir, Abandon, and others.

However, before her time working as an enhancement talent in AEW, Rossi attended castings to join Women of Wrestling. At WOW, Rossi worked with the company to learn to wrestle and create her character.

Rossi detailed what the WOW castings were like for her:

“So they just, the casting was just like, ‘Do you have any athletic background? Tell us about yourself. Show us your personality.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m from Jersey.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh my god Jersey, like you’ve got so much personality.’ And I was like… So, they off the bat, they kind of just like got the whole Jersey girl thing.

And then once I was like in it, they’re like we got to start developing a character and like the Italian thing was always like my first go to just because like it is me. It’s very easy for me to like play up. So, I was like, ‘Oh my god like this is perfect.’

And it’s it’s actually been fun because I’ve kind of just like dived deeper into like my culture like I’ve just like learned so much more about it since then. And like my mom’s always been big on like teaching me how to like cook and that kind of stuff. But um yeah, they were just like, ‘When we look at you would just see like Sopranos.”

WOW Requires Exclusivity

Under Women of Wrestling, Rossi performed under the name of Adriana Gambino because the company wanted to own her name.

Rossi said, “And they’re also very, like strict about like, the name thing because like, I’m Adriana Gambino there. And like I came up with the name, but they own it. So it’s like, it’s fine. I’ll just use a different name.”

Rossi decided to move away from working with WOW because of the terms of the contract that she was not comfortable with. One of the terms was in regards to the exclusivity of her activity in wrestling. Rossi says that if she would’ve signed to WOW, she would not have been able to appear on AEW Dark and in NXT.

“Um, so I wasn’t at this last taping because they did tape this month. I did the taping before. Yes. So they, they’re kind of exclusive. You can’t do other TV tapings if you’re with WOW.”

Rossi says Women of Wrestling wanted to lock her into a restrictive 5-year contract, which just didn’t work for her.

“So, I would have had to like given up NXT and Dark, which I wasn’t ready to do yet. So yeah, I didn’t go back this past week and I was actually at Dark during the WOW tapings,” Rossi said.

Rossi’s Hesitancy To Sign To WOW

Rossi went into further detail on her hesitancy to sign a contract with WOW.

“I think they want just like people who are only gonna wrestle for WOW because they did have like this, because they’ve been around for like 20 years. And a lot of people don’t know that because they’re like, they’re just starting to, you know, really get well known, and they pretty much did go on like a hiatus for a little bit. That’s probably just like, the only reason why I was like, I just really can’t sign this contract because what if you guys go on hiatus again and I’m under contract for however many years.

But I know that they like- something similar happened with IMPACT. So, I know that they were like using girls from IMPACT for awhile when they were both in AXS. And then as of recently, they don’t use people from IMPACT anymore. I think it was just like contract stuff. They want people who were like, homegrown so that they can say like, we train them there are people you know.”

What Eric Bischoff Has To Say To Veterans Who Complain About Everything

0

We have seen many veteran wrestlers complaining about the changes in wrestling in recent times. People like The Undertaker have been criticized for not liking the friendly environment in the locker room. Eric Bischoff has the perfect advice for such legends.

The former WCW president recently appeared on Ryan Satin’s Out of Character podcast. Speaking about the people from his era that always talk about the negative, Eric suggested that they should be thankful for the run they had:

“When I hear my peers, people my age or [people from] that era. That are bitter and angry and always talking about all the negative things that happens.” said Eric Bischoff, “[I go] ‘Man, Don’t you know? Don’t you know how much fun you really had? Don’t you know how lucky you really were? Don’t you know that you’ve seen things, been places, and you’ve had opportunities that [only] 1% of the people in the world ever get to experience? Come on.'”

‘It Goes By Fast’: Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff
Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff also offered some advice to younger talents currently in their prime. He told them to take some time to appreciate what they have, because it goes by fast:

“Then I see younger guys and gals in the ring. I want to reach out to every one of them and say ‘stop right now.’ However wrapped up you are in whether or not you’re going to get to wrestle in main event of the next pay per view or whatever your thing is. Cause it is. I’m not making fun of them.

It is a competitive business. Being an actor or an actress, musician, whatever. if it’s talent, it’s competitive. So I get that part too. But take time to go ‘wow, look where I am. Look what I get to do. This is pretty awesome.’ Just appreciate it. Because it goes by you fast. Then It’s gone. Take the time to dig it. Because you should.”

Eric Bischoff Believes AEW Is ‘Mom And Pop Hamburger Stand’ Compared To WWE

0

All wrestling fans agree that the sport is not as popular as it used to be two decades ago. There are some who believe that shifts in the media world and the changes in people’s consuming habits are big reasons behind it. Eric Bischoff, however, thinks that the blame lies solely with the product.

The wrestling veteran spoke to Ryan Satin for his Out of Character podcast. Satin discussed how wrestling is not a mainstream programm anymore and mentioned the changes in media. Bischoff called it a ‘pissant’ excuse. He explained that the real reason behind it is that wrestling has failed to evolve:

“The product is boring. It’s just nothing new has happened. Nothing has changed. Nothing has emerged. Nothing has evolved. It’s the same formula. Up until recently the same process, we’re talking about WWE which is by far the dominant [company].

There is no competition. AEW is not competition, no matter how much Tony Khan wants to believe it is. It’s not. We’re in the same business, Tony. That’s not the same thing as being in competition. [You’re] not taking market share, Tony. You’re just in the same business. It’s kind of like having a little mom-and-pop hamburger stand on the corner and saying that you’re in competition with Arby’s. You’re not.”

Nothing Has Changed: Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff explained that wrestling was a teen product before the 90s. The rise of WCW forced Vince McMahon to change his formula as well. This led to massive changes and the overall growth of the industry:

“Other than the fact that a new company has emerged in this space, what’s changed? Nothing’s changed. Whereas with the Attitude Era, the reason that wrestling was a part of pop culture, is because there was a seismic shift in the presentation of the product.

It went from a teen and preteen product in the 80s and into the mid-90s, until it became an 18 to 49 year old product with actually Nitro, which led into the Attitude Era. Because Vince had to compete with that. He changed his formula, the product evolved. It became attractive to an entirely different audience. That’s called growth. What have we seen since then?”

Edge’s Classic Metalingus Theme Song is Back

0

Edge has returned to Raw, and so has his classic theme song.

The former world champion made his comeback after several week off at SummerSlam. He entered the arena with a remix of The Brood theme and helped The Mysterios pick up a victory over Judgement Day.

The wrestling veteran then showed up on tonight’s Raw from Toyota Center in Houston. He brought back the ‘Metalingus’ theme by Alter Bridge and received a huge pop. We also got the ‘Rated R Superstar’ announcement for his entrance.

Edge apologized to the fans for being an asshole for the past few months. He created Judgement Day to help young talents and pass on his knowledge.

He said that his proteges thought that they had learned everything they needed. The Attitude Era star then promised to kill what he created: The Judgment Day.

Fans seemed very excited to see Edge reverting back to his old theme song. They took on social media to share their enthusiasm for this change:

This wasn’t the last of Edge we saw on the night. The Usos beat The Mysterios in a unified tag team title match in the main event of the show. The Judgement Day attacked Mysterios after this bout.

Edge tried to make the save. However, he hit Dominik Mysterio with a spear in confusion. The show ended with the Rated R Superstar chasing down Finn Balor and Damian Priest while Dominik recovered in the ring.

WWE Teases Breakup Of Popular Tag Team On Raw

0

The Street Profits are one of the most popular tag teams of WWE who have been together since 2016. Though if the events of Raw are any indication of things to come, then their days of teaming together are numbered.

Tonight’s episode of the show from the Toyota Center in Houston saw Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins coming out to talk about Roman Reigns.

When the Raw stars interrupted him, he discussed how they have been losing a lot lately. Rollins mentioned their loss to The Usos at the latest SummerSlam PPV this past Saturday. He said The Street Profits should just break up.

Angelo Dawkins and Montez ford then fired back at The Architect mentioning how they beat him and Buddy Murhpy for the Raw tag team championships. Ford also noted that Cody Rhodes beat him with “only one boobie.”

This led to Seth Rollins challenging the duo for a fight on Raw. Ford and Dawkins decided to play rock-paper-scissors to determine who will face the former world champion. However, Ford then grabbed the referee and ran down to the ring.

Dawkins disappeared from the segment as the match began. The commentary was discussing what the future holds for the former tag champions during the bout.

Seth won this match with a Curb Stomp but he continued his attack post-match. Angelo Dawkins then came out again to save his partner and end the segment.

The Street Profits have said on multiple occasions that they don’t want a traditional breakup. However, the company does seem to be moving in that direction based on events of Raw.

Logan Paul Announces More WWE Appearances: “So Addicted to This Sport”

0

Fans can expect to see more of Logan Paul on WWE television. The YouTuber/boxing star is coming off a win over The Miz at last Saturday’s SummerSlam event, which marked his first singles match.

On Monday, Paul took to Twitter to issue a video about the big weekend and how he wants to do more with the company. He also said that he’s addicted to the business.

“I’ve done a lot of crazy stuff in my life, but what happened this past weekend at SummerSlam is so far the coolest thing I’ve ever done. I’m so addicted to this sport. I think I might’ve found my calling. Guys, I called the WWE execs, and I told them we got a multi-year, multi-event deal coming.

I’m going to be performing all over the world, traveling everywhere. Just the energy and adrenaline that I feel inside that ring with a jam-packed stadium, I want more. I don’t know where or when it’s going to be just yet, but when I get in that ring again, it is going to be massive, and you do want to watch it. This is history in the making. I could not be happier to be part of this universe, and I’ll see you guys soon.”

Paul signed a multi-year deal with WWE that will see him work several matches. Paul made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38, where he teamed with The Miz to defeat The Mysterios (Dominik and Rey).

Becky Lynch Will Miss Several Months with Shoulder Injury

0

Becky Lynch is expected to be out of action for several months due to injury.

Lynch appeared on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw wearing a sling and said she’d need time off. She suffered a separated shoulder during her match against Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at SummerSlam on Saturday.

Lynch opened Raw with an in-ring promo where she talked about how she credits Belair for pushing her to be the B.E.S.T. every week since returning at last year’s SummerSlam. She quickly defeated Belair to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion at that event.

On Saturday night, she realized who she is, and that’s The Man. Belair came out to the ring, and Lynch left after exchanging some respectful words.

Becky Lynch Attacked

While Belair was doing her promo, we saw Lynch being attacked by Bayley, IYO Sky (Io Shirai), and Dakota Kai. Belair ran to the backstage area, but it was too late.

WWE later confirmed she is expected to be out for the next several months.

This injury angle indicates Lynch will be out of action for an extended period of time and could potentially need surgery. A separated shoulder typically has an estimated recovery time between two and 12 weeks.

SEScoops wishes Becky Lynch a speedy recovery from this injury.

Seth Rollins def. Montez Ford

Seth Rollins came to the ring for a promo but was quickly interrupted by Street Profits. Rollins told the crowd to shut up as they reacted for Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford. Seth joked that he doesn’t want to share any airspace with the biggest losers in WWE and poked fun at The Street Profits losing again to The Usos. Seth suggested that they should probably break up because they suck so much as a tag team.

Dawkins reminded Rollins that they beat him to become tag champs and Montez added that Cody Rhodes beat Seth when he “only had one booby”. Seth wanted a match and Montez accepted the challenge. Seth climbed to the top rope and went for a Frog Splash but Montez got out of the way. Montez went for a Frog Splash of his own but Rollins got his knees up. Seth then hit Ford with the Stomp for the pinfall victory. After the match, Rollins set up for another Stomp as Ford slowly got up. Angelo Dawkins made the save and Rollins retreated with a smile on his face.

Edge Vowed To End The Judgement Day

The Rated R Superstar Edge made his way to the ring with his old theme and got a great reaction from the crowd. He cut a brief promo and admitted he’s been a bit of an asshole lately in The Judgement Day. Edge said he created the group to help talent like Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. He vowed to end The Judgement Day to end the promo.

0

Mark Henry sees Brock Lesnar potential in All Elite Wrestling star Wardlow.

Henry was recently was recently interviewed by Sportskeeda and shared his high opinion of reigning AEW TNT Champion, Wardlow.

“The World’s Strongest Man” had nothing but praise for the young champion, who he claims has the same potential as past stars such as Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, and even The Rock.

“I think Wardlow is an unbelievable competitor,” Henry said. “And he’s going to be even better. The Wardlow we see right now, in a best of three, I think a Mark Henry might beat that guy. But in the next two years, Wardlow is going to be the most dominant force in pro wrestling since Brock Lesnar…”

Henry also compared Wardlow’s upside to megastars like Goldberg, The Rock and even Stone Cold Steve Austin.

That’s certainly high praise from Henry, a veteran of the industry of nearly 30 years. He’ a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion who was inducted into the company’s Hall Of Fame in 2016.

As for Wardlow, he has certainly been privy to one particular comparison throughout his run with AEW. That being a comparison to WWE Hall Of Famer and ex-WCW World Heavyweight Champion Goldberg.

Likely due to both men having such an intimidating size and physique inside the ring. Wardlow has certainly come into his own since splitting apart from the likes of MJF. He captured the TNT Title from Scorpio Sky on a July 6 episode of AEW Dynamite in a Street Fight.

Update on Becky Lynch’s SummerSlam Injury

0

Becky Lynch has a separated shoulder as she suffered the injury during her match against Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at SummerSlam on Saturday.

Bryan Alvarez reported the news on Monday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live.

“Becky Lynch took the Jaded (Glam Slam) and landed sideways, she landed on her side. Having separated my shoulder twice wrestling, I knew immediately that was not good. She started grabbing her shoulder, and she was grabbing her shoulder throughout the rest of the match,” Alvarez said. “We can confirm today that she did suffer a shoulder separation. I don’t know the extent of it, there are several grades of shoulder separation.”

Lynch did finish the bout and was using her arm, but after the match, she was seen being escorted by WWE’s medical team following the match.

Bayley, IYO Sky (Io Shirai), and Dakota Kai returned once Belair shook hands with Lynch to form their new faction.

A separated shoulder typically takes between two and 12 weeks to recover from. We wish Lynch a speedy recovery.

It appeared WWE was planning a 3 vs. 3 match at some point. However, those plans will have to be pushed back or changed because of Lynch’s injury.

Ronda Rousey ‘Suspended’ Following SummerSlam Referee Attack

0

WWE has announced a storyline fine and suspension for Ronda Rousey due to her unprofessional conduct at Summerslam.

Rousey unsuccessfully challenged Raw Women’s Champion Liv Morgan at Saturday’s premium live event from Nashville. The match ended in controversy and things went downhill from there.

Liv Morgan pinned Ronda Rousey’s shoulders to the mat and was awarded the victory. However, the referee missed that Morgan was tapping out from Rousey’s armbar submission before counting the pin.

Rousey Snaps, Crosses The Line

An instant replay showed that Rousey should have won the match, but the referee can’t call what he didn’t see.

Rousey became irate, feeling that she’d been robbed at the chance to reclaim the Raw Women’s title. The Baddest Woman on the Planet attacked Morgan and then shifted her attention to referee Dan Engler.

Rousey proceeded to attack referee Engler and applied the same armbar to him that she had just locked on to Liv Morgan.

WWE has taken swift action against Rousey for her conduct. A statement from WWE reads:

“Following her attack on referee Dan Engler at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended… Due to her suspension, Rousey will not appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.”

This storyline suspension will be a way for WWE to write Ronda Rousey off television for the foreseeable future.

Pat McAfee Admits SummerSlam “Wasn’t The Cleanest Match I’ve Ever Had”

0

Pat McAfee stepped into the ring again for a bout against Happy Corbin at Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam where the SmackDown commentator went over.

McAfee’s previous performance was at WrestleMania 38 in April, beating Theory before losing to Vince McMahon.

While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee reflected on his SummerSlam bout. McAfee admitted there were moments in that match where he thought, ‘should have prepared differently.’ This happened as soon as he walked into the stadium as he felt like a sauna, an issue because he had trained in air conditioning. He started to hydrate immediately.

McAfee noted that the sweat on the ropes nearly led to disaster on several occasions when he performed spots.

“A lot of things, as they are happening, I’m thinking, ‘Fucking idiot. You are so dumb,’” Pat stated.

McAfee nearly fell off the top rope while attempting an outside dive. He thinks he had trouble doing the ropes and not getting on the rope with the shoes he was wearing before the bout. McAfee went over with the code red.

“Not a destroyer. Code Red. Had I ever done it before to anybody? Nope, but it felt like the right time and right place. Wasn’t the cleanest match I’ve ever had. I certainly wasn’t prepared for the humidity. I’m pumped to get out of there with a dub.”

McAfee added that Jimmy Uso gave him the chain he was wearing for the match.

Details On Tractor Spot From WWE SummerSlam Main Event

0

This past Saturday WWE held their annual SummerSlam premium live event from the Nissan Stadium in Nashville Tennessee, a show that was headlined by an epic Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar Last Man Standing match for the Undisputed Universal championship.

Prior to the bout starting Lesnar came down to the ring with a tractor, and launched himself off the top of it to gain the early upper-hand on the Tribal Chief.

Later in the contest the Beast used the tractor to lift one corner of the ring, an insane spot that not only sent Reigns tumbling out the other side, but instantly went viral on social media.

Pre-Show Rehearsal

The ring lift spot was rehearsed at least once before the show began by a member of the WWE production team, according to a report at PWInsider.

Brock Lesnar did not rehearse the spot in advance and performed it for the first time live during Summerslam. When Lesnar drove the tractor into the ring (just prior to the lift), the ring shifted farther than the production team had originally planned.

Reigns would go on to defeat Lesnar for the third-straight time this year thanks to an assist from the Usos, and continue his impressive title reign, which recently surpassed 700-plus days.

Bryan Danielson On The AEW Locker Room: “It’s The Boys Talking About Flaccid Penises, It Is A Blast”

0

Bryan Danielson isn’t shy of sharing the conversations that are had in a pro-wrestling locker room.

The AEW superstar appeared on a live recording of Renee Paquette’s The Sessions at this past weekend’s Starrcast V event in Nashville to give details on the subject, which included Paquette asking the American Dragon about the rumors that he enjoys messing with people backstage.

“I’m not fucking with people,” Danielson jokingly states before admitting that he does enjoy the occasional rib. He continues his rant by exclaiming that he spent too much time in WWE with guys who were just staring at their phones all day.

“Everybody was on their phones in the locker room. That’s not what I want. The last three years of my career, I don’t want to spend in the locker room with a bunch of young guys looking at their phone.”

It was here that the former world champion detailed the types of conversations that are had, including an in-depth chat about a topic Danielson seems to really enjoy.

“So, we start….we talk about flaccid penises, asexually. We are not talking about anything that would be considered perverted. It’s just amongst the boys. It’s the boys talking about flaccid penises. It is a blast.”

Danielson’s spirit to ignite fun into locker rooms continues to live on. The Dragon only returned to in-ring action on last week’s AEW Fight for the Fallen, his first match since May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, where he sustained a minor concussion.

NJPW Star Leaves The Company

0

An NJPW star has taken to his Twitter account to announce his departure from the company.

The star in question is Karl Fredericks. He announced that his deal expired with NJPW on Aug. 1 and he will not be signing a new contract.

The news may come as a surprise to some. After all, Fredericks was brought into the LA Dojo and quickly graduated from the Young Lion system.

To others, this may not be a surprise as Fredericks had been expressing discontent over stagnation with his in-ring career.

Japan’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t help matters as Fredericks had been stuck on NJPW Strong shows in the United States.

Here is Karl Fredericks’ statement:

“As of today August 1st I am no longer under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling and I will not be re-signing with the company at this time.

Karl Fredericks announces NJPW departure

Though there is disappointment in the ending of this chapter I am grateful for the last four years traveling the world and growing with my best friends. I want to say thank you to the company for the opportunities and especially thank you to Shibata-San for believing in me and bringing me along his journey with the LA Dojo.

Last but not least thank you to my fans and thank you to the NJPW fans for Your support over these years. I hope you will continue to support me along my path wherever that may lead.”
