“Tell That To My Merch Sales” – Alexa Bliss Responds To Criticism From Wrestling Podcaster After WWE RAW

0

Alexa Bliss battled IYO SKY of Damage CTRL in the main event of this week’s episode of WWE RAW.

Earlier on the show, Bianca Belair and Bayley had a contract signing for their upcoming Ladder Match at Extreme Rules for the RAW Women’s Championship. The cameras cut backstage and Damage CTRL were attacking Asuka and Alexa Bliss.

Bayley capitalized on the distraction and ripped Bianca over the table by her hair and beat her down. Following the attack, Alexa challenged IYO to a match and the two stars met in the main event. IYO picked up the victory thanks to interference by Damage CTRL.

RAW went off the air with Bayley and the Women’s Tag Team Champions posing on a ladder in the middle of the ring.

Alexa Bliss Responds To Criticism From Wrestling Podcaster

Wrestling podcaster/YouTuber/House of Glory commentator JDFromNY206 certainly has his fans and detractors but is never short on opinions. He commented on Alexa Bliss facing IYO SKY in the main event of the red brand and said he wasn’t a fan of it. A fan clipped the comment made by JD and claimed that “Alexa Bliss can main event any show from WWE shes that talented unlike JDfromny206”.

Here is what JD had to say about the main event of this week’s RAW in the video:

Alexa Bliss and Io Shirai, IYO SKY, closed the show last night. That is not a main event. You don’t put that match on in the main event and expect people to hang around until 11 to watch that be the culmination of Monday Night RAW for three hours. That is ridiculous.

In no way, on no planet should Alexa Bliss be in the f***ing main event of any show, period. She is absolutely iceberg cold. She is ridiculous. Judgment Day, AJ Styles, and Rey Mysterio absolutely should have closed the show no matter what.

Despite not being tagged in the post, Alexa Bliss caught wind of the comments and took to Twitter to respond. She referred to JD as “JB” in her retort.

Tell That to my Merch sales JB. Keep doing your job which is talking about… Me.

Renee Paquette Set To Launch New Series With NFL Team

0

Former WWE personality Renee Paquette (Renee Young) has landed a new gig with an NFL football team.

The Cincinnati Bengals reached the Super Bowl last year but came up just short against the Rams. After a rocky 0-2 start, the Bengals have righted the ship and now sit at 2-2 on the season.

Today on Twitter, the Bengals have announced that Renee Paquette is working on a new show for them. The series will be called Renée All Dey and the first episode will be released soon.

Renee took to Twitter to say how excited she is to be working with the Bengals on the new series. Renee currently hosts The Sessions podcast on Colin Cowherd’s The Volume network.

So freaking psyched to join the @Bengals and have my own series with them! Renée All Dey coming soon!

Renee sat down with Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie a couple of weeks ago for an interview and the 37-year-old clearly made a positive impression on the organization.

Jon Moxley To Defend The Title In Cincinnati

Renee’s husband, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, is scheduled to have a huge match on the October 18th edition of Dynamite.

It will be a special Tuesday night episode of Dynamite live from the Heritage Bank Center, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jon is from Cincinnati and the married couple resides there. The AEW World Champion recently attended the wedding between Corey Graves and Carmella sporting a Bengals shirt and a fanny pack.

On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page defeated Rush in a singles match. After the bout, Private Party made their way to the ring and it appeared like they were going to attack Hangman. Jon Moxley arrived through the crowd and Private Party retreated.

The champion paced around Hangman Page before taking a shot at him. Moxley said “you’re a sweet kid, but like a lot of kids around here you say stupid sh** that gets you in trouble. I’m going to let you off the hook this once, but this is your final warning. You’ve got 13 days, you watch your damn mouth.”

Later in the promo, Moxley vowed to prove that he’s the one true top guy in AEW and is the “best in the world” in 13 days on Dynamite.

I’m going to walk down Vine Street and show up at Heritage Bank Center, and I’m going to break your face. I’m going to choke you until you turn blue because you’re in the way of me being the one true top guy here in AEW, and the World Champion, and the best in the world.

WWE Tough Enough Winner Sara Lee Passes Away, Wrestlers Pay Tribute

0

WWE Tough Enough winner Sara Lee (Sara Ann Weston) has tragically passed away. She was only 30 years old. Her mother announced the news on Facebook on Thursday.

There has been no cause of death revealed at this time. Her mother wrote “It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus. We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete. We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn” in the heartbreaking announcement.

Lee won Tough Enough in 2015 and earned a one-year contract with the promotion. She lost to Alicia Fox in the finale of the show and was released in 2016 after working live events but never debuted on NXT.

Sara was also a competitive powerlifter and entered Tough Enough with no previous wrestling experience. She outlasted Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Chelsea Green, and Velveteen Dream in the competition.

She was recently training at the Team Vision Dojo in Orlando. Sara married former WWE Superstar Wesley Blake in December 2017. The couple lived in Orlando and had three children together.

Wrestlers Pay Tribute To Sara Lee

Several wrestlers have commented on the tragic news today. AEW star Saraya sent love to Sara’s family and posted photos of the two together.

https://twitter.com/Saraya/status/1578152754647748609?s=20&t=S6Zh9ktFzrbPAFZUAE7WWg

Former NXT star Bull James (Bull Dempsey) has set up a fund to help her family. As of this writing, Cody Rhodes, Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Becky Lynch and The Cardonas have donated.

Brandi Rhodes said she never got to meet Sara Lee but noticed her beautiful energy. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair sent out a message as well.

On behalf of SEScoops, we send our condolences to friends, family, and fans of Sara Lee.

Bandido Reveals He Has Not Signed AEW Contract, Confirms WWE Offer

0

It was reported this week that Bandido was signed by All Elite Wrestling but it seems that is not the case.

Chris Jericho defended the ROH Championship against Bandido in the main event of last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Jericho retained the title in a match that received rave reviews from critics and fans.

The 27-year-old was immediately offered a contract following his match with Chris Jericho. Fightful reported on Wednesday that he had agreed to terms on a new deal with All Elite Wrestling.

However, Bandido himself has stated that he has not signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling. He noted that he will likely wind up in AEW, but hasn’t signed yet and has received an offer from WWE as well.

In an interview with Más Lucha, Bandido said that after his match with Jericho on Dynamite eight days ago, Tony Khan and Chris pulled him aside after the match. Bandido claimed that Tony said “I need you in AEW” during the conversation.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp noted that their report stated that Bandido had agreed to terms and they could not specify whether he signed a contract.

Andrade El Idolo was also recently interviewed by Más Lucha and had some interesting comments regarding former TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. Those comments led to the to two exchanging words on Twitter.

The Twitter beef then spilled over into Dynamite where Andrade and Sammy reportedly had a physical altercation. Andrade was scheduled to face Dark Order’s 10 in a Career vs. Mask match on this week’s Rampage but the match has been canceled.

Konosuke Takeshita Expected Back In AEW Very Soon

0

A fan-favorite is expected to be returning to AEW very soon.

Japanese star Konosuke Takeshita, who had been building up his reputation at DDT-Pro, began regularly competing for AEW earlier this year and quickly won over the hearts of the AEW Universe with his in-ring performances. The 27-year old had marquee matchups against Adam Page, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and nearly won the ROH championship from Claudio Castagnoli at their encounter at Battle of the Belts III.

While Takeshita came up short in all of the aforementioned matchups his stock grew heavily within the company. He picked up a series of wins on their weekly Youtube shows (Dark: Elevation, Dark), as well as a victory over Ryan Nemeth on an edition of their TNT program, Rampage. Takeshita’s run with the company ended over the summer as he had to return to Japan.

A New Report Says Takeshita Will Be Back In AEW In Two Weeks

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer, AEW is hoping to have Takeshita return in the next couple of weeks. While this is exciting Meltzer does note that there don’t seem to be any plans for Takeshita at the moment, but that could obviously change very quickly due to the nature of booking these shows.

The return couldn’t come at a better time for AEW, who have a number of top stars currently on the sideline either due to injury, suspension, or a mixture of both. This includes CM Punk, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Malakai Black, and now…Andrade El Idolo.

Are you excited to see Takeshita back in AEW?

New Commentary Teams for WWE Raw, SmackDown & NXT

0

The landscape of WWE has changed dramatically across all three of the company’s brands, at least at the commentary desk.

This week, WWE will begin their ‘season premiere’ week of programming, starting with tomorrow night’s SmackDown on FOX. Next week’s Raw and NXT will also serve as the season premieres of the red and gold brand.

The following three shows of WWE programming will be stacked for the season premieres and will feature brand-new commentary teams.

Wrestle Votes were the first to report that changes were expected to Raw’s commentary team before more information was provided by Variety. Their report, later confirmed by WWE, announced that the company is returning to two-person commentary teams across all three of its brands.

Smackdown

For tomorrow night’s SmackDown, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be calling the action, with the former Intercontinental Champion moving from NXT.

Raw

Next week’s Raw will see Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves behind the table, with Patrick being promoted as a full-time member of the Raw commentary team.

The Irish announcer had previously served as a backstage interviewer and provided commentary on the July 24, 2022, Raw.

Byron Saxton, who had been on commentary for Raw, has been moved to a role as an onscreen interviewer.

NXT

For NXT, the new commentary team will see Vic Joseph returning to the role, now working with Booker T.

The two-time WWE Hall of Famer has previously served as a commentator for Raw and SmackDown, and regularly makes appearances on kick-off show panels.

Premium Live Events

For major WWE events such as WWE Premium Live Events, Cole and Graves will be the commentary team.

Julia Hart Confirms Engagement to Fellow AEW Star

0

Another wrestling couple is slated to get married – Julia Hart and Lee Johnson.

During an appearance on this week’s episode of AEW Unrestricted with hosts Aubrey Edwards and Alex Abrahantes, Hart spoke about a wide range of topics, including her relationship with the fellow AEW talent.

Julia Hart on the Engagement

Hart revealed that they are engaged. It was stated on the podcast that they’d been engaged for months, but it was something they wanted to keep to themselves and within the circle of people who knew.

Hart stated they have a good separation between work-life and real life, and she couldn’t ask for anyone better to be her man.

House of Black’s Malakai Black is off AEW television because he is tending to personal matters. He has stated that he’ll be back ‘pretty soon’. Buddy Matthews also recently came out and stated that he is taking time away from wrestling.

Johnson began working with AEW in April 2020. His first Dynamite appearance happened that same month as he took on the late Brodie Lee.

Johnson competed on Dark and Dynamite in the months following before signing with them in February 2021. Johnson last wrestled in a sanctioned match for AEW in early May.

3 Reasons Sheamus Should Win The Intercontinental Championship

0

Gunther will be defending the Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus this week on the season premiere of SmackDown.

The Ring General and The Celtic Warrior put on an instant classic at Clash at the Castle. In the end, it was Gunther who emerged victorious but the crowd in Cardiff gave Sheamus a standing ovation after the match.

The Celtic Warrior was without his stablemates this past Friday on SmackDown. Butch and Ridge Holland of The Brawling Brutes were stuck in Florida due to the hurricane. Sheamus tried to get in a few shots with his shillelagh but the numbers game caught up to him. Imperium beat The Celtic Warrior down and left him laying in the ring. Sheamus will now enter his Intercontinental Championship match on SmackDown at a distinct disadvantage.

Here are three reasons Sheamus deserves to win the Intercontinental Championship on the season premiere of WWE SmackDown:

The Storyline

The main reason Sheamus should become the Intercontinental Champion is because of his storyline with Gunther. The Ring General has already proven he can defeat Sheamus, but has he proven he can bounce back from a loss?

Gunther has yet to lose a singles match on the main roster and losing a match to a veteran like Sheamus does not equate to getting “buried”. It presents an opportunity to show the WWE Universe just how vicious Gunther can be in his pursuit to get his title back.

Gunther has lost two singles matches in NXT during his WWE career. He lost the NXT UK Championship to Ilja Dragunov in an incredible match at TakeOver 36 and to NXT Champion Bron Breakker in April. Gunther made his main roster debut a few days later on SmackDown and defeated Joe Alonzo in a squash match.

A loss for Gunther would give WWE a reason to have them fight again at an upcoming Premium Live Event. There likely won’t be too many fans complaining about these two facing off again if their match on SmackDown delivers as expected.

The Fans

The Brawling Brutes seemed like they were an act that was destined to fail. They came off as a Vince McMahon creation that maybe would have connected with fans in the 1950s as they would have been wearing similar attire in the audience. Many fans were disappointed to see Pete Dunne portray “Butch”, a scrappy underdog comedy character, instead of The Bruiserweight the WWE Universe had grown to love in NXT.

After Triple H took over creative responsibility for the company, The Brawling Brutes have been presented as a group that fans should take seriously. They battled The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships in a great match a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown.

Butch and Ridge Holland were moments away from becoming champions before Imperium interfered. The Usos escaped with the titles but the crowd was heavily behind The Brawling Brutes.

The crowd in the DCU Center in Worcester this Friday will likely be cheering for Sheamus as well. There is currently a heel faction dominating the top of the promotion with The Bloodline, why not have a babyface group run the midcard?

The Legacy

Sheamus spoke with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport ahead of his Intercontinental Championship match against Gunther at Clash at the Castle. Ariel asked why the title was so important Sheamus gave two reasons.

“The first reason is it’s the one championship that I need to complete my collection and become WWE’s first-ever Ultimate Grand Slam Champion. And number two, it’s because to me it is the first title I watched when I started watching WWE as a kid.

It was the title that was always on television. It was the title I saw every single week and it was the working man’s title. That was a great platform for a lot of talents who started out like you know, Macho Man, Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart, Shawn (Michaels), all those guys.

Sheamus joined the main roster in 2009 and has had an incredible 12-year career in WWE thus far. The 44-year-old is a four-time World Champion in the company and a three-time United States Champion. He captured the RAW Tag Team Championships four times as well with former WWE star Cesaro, now known as Claudio Castagnoli in All Elite Wrestling.

The Celtic Warrior won the King of the Ring in 2010, the Royal Rumble in 2012, and the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match in 2015. The only thing missing from his resume in WWE is the Intercontinental Championship and it would be great to see that rectified against Gunther on SmackDown.

Would you like to see Sheamus win the Intercontinental Championship or would you rather see Gunther continue his dominance this week on WWE SmackDown? Let us know in the comments section below.

Several WWE NXT Stars Expected to be Called Up Soon (Report)

0

Legado del Fantasma could be making their WWE main roster debut soon.

According to a report by Pwinsider.com today, the plan is for Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro & Elektra Lopez) to be part of the SmackDown roster when they make their main roster debut. It was added that they might appear as soon as this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Their NXT Exit

In August, Escobar was banished from NXT as part of a stipulation of losing to Tony D’Angelo at NXT Heatwave. A week after this show, there was a segment where Escobar picked up the rest of Legado del Fantasma in the parking lot because he wasn’t going to leave NXT without them. Dave Meltzer previously confirmed that Legado del Fantasma was slated for a main roster call-up.

WWE holds this season’s premiere edition of SmackDown on Friday night from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The show will feature a face-to-face confrontation between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his next challenger Logan Paul ahead of their clash at Crown Jewel in November. Also, Gunther will defend the Intercontinental Title against Sheamus in a rematch from Clash at the Castle.

Who Convinced Daniel Cormier to Make WWE Extreme Rules 2022 Debut?

0

Daniel Cormier’s impending WWE debut would likely not have transpired if not for the actions of Seth Rollins.

Cormier will be at this Saturday’s Extreme Rules Premium Live Event and officiate the Fight Pit match between Rollins and Matt Riddle.

A former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Cormier retired from the Octagon in August 2020 at the UFC 252 event.

Talking to Rollins

Cormier had teased joining WWE in 2018, when he had a confrontation with Brock Lesnar, but nothing came of it at the time.

Speaking with ESPN MMA’s Marc Raimondi, Cormier said that it was Rollins who began talks about him making an appearance (via Fightful.)

“It wasn’t really from the people in charge. It was Seth Rollins, he texted me goes, ‘Real life-fighting in the fight pit and we may be in the market for a special guest referee, would you have any interest in it?’

“So I said, Yeah, I’d be interested in doing it. I think that it’s fun. I think that what you guys have done has been a pleasure to watch.”

Rollins Vs. Riddle will be the first Fight Pit match on WWE’s main roster, after the stipulation was used twice in NXT.

Daniel Cormier: WWE Superstar?

While Cormier is set to be the special guest referee at Extreme Rules, many expect that this is a stepping stone into an in-ring career.

Fans have pointed out that Ken Shamrock, a fellow legend of UFC, also debuted in the WWE (then WWF) in 1997 as a guest referee.

Shamrock officiated the Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin I-Quit match from WrestleMania 13, before transitioning into a role as a wrestler.

Jeff Hardy Not Expected to Make AEW Return Anytime Soon

0

It appears fans won’t see Jeff Hardy back on AEW TV in the near future due to his legal issues.

Hardy has been suspended by AEW indefinitely and without pay following his DUI arrest in June. After the arrest, he checked himself into rehab.

Hardy has been charged with Driving While License Canceled/Suspended/Revoked, Violation of Restrictions Placed on Drivers License, and DUI Alcohol/Drugs Third Offense within 10 Years. Hardy has entered a “not guilty” plea to the charge.

Latest on Jeff Hardy’s Status

Tony Khan and Jeff Hardy

Pwinsider.com reported today that Hardy has a pre-trial hearing for his DUI scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, after Hardy’s attorneys previously waived his right to a speedy trial. The hearing was supposed to happen in July, but was pushed back due to the request of his attorneys and is now scheduled for this month.

The report added that Hardy is still officially with the company but will not be brought back until his legal issues are cleared up. All Elite Wrestling also wants Hardy to show that he can maintain his sobriety as he has been in treatment “for some time.’

Jeff’s brother and fellow AEW star, Matt Hardy, recently stated that fans will see a new Jeff when he eventually returns.

Andrade El Idolo Shares Cryptic Tweet After AEW Dynamite Fight

0

Andrade El Idolo has advised others to show respect to him following the backstage fight at this week’s AEW Dynamite tapings.

During the taping, the former NXT Champion fought with Sammy Guevara, resulting in Andrade being sent home from the show.

Andrade had been scheduled to face Preston ’10’ Vance of the Dark Order in a career vs. mask match on this Friday’s Rampage, but the match has been canceled.

The Fight

While reports are still coming in, the belief is that Andrade began the fight with Guevara, and had been waiting for him.

El Idolo reportedly threw up to three punches at the former TNT Champion, who did not fight back.

Guevara’s decision to not fight is why he was allowed to stay at the show and headlined Dynamite later that night.

Taking to Twitter, El Idolo seemingly referenced the fight with his advice to others.

Andrade on Twitter

This most recent tweet is the latest move by El Idolo on social media who has used Twitter to tease leaving AEW.

Last week, Andrade began using the hashtag #FreeElIdolo, seemingly expressing a desire to get out of Tony Khan’s promotion.

El Idolo has also liked tweets from fans who believe he should leave AEW and would fare better back in WWE, where he worked from 2015 to 2021.

The AEW star has also shared frustrations with his booking in the company and retweeted fans who call out Tony Khan for not using him more, especially last week when Hurricane Ian forced multiple stars to miss Dynamite.

Report: Andrade & Sammy Guevara Were Warned Before AEW Dynamite Backstage Fight

0

Both Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara assured AEW’s higher-ups that there would be no fighting, prior to the fight before this week’s Dynamite.

Before the show, Andrade and Guevara had an altercation backstage, resulting in El Idolo being sent home.

Andrade’s career vs. mask match with Preston ’10’ Vance of the Dark Order, initially scheduled for Rampage, has been canceled.

Breaking Promise

The fight backstage was the culmination of recent comments by both men, with Andrade claiming in an interview that Guevara complained about being hit too hard.

In response, Guevara claimed that Andrade was being dishonest, and said that El Idolo should go back to WWE, something the former Superstar has teased.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that AEW spoke to both men prior to the show.

“Tuesday night, they were talked to. Both of them. And they were told ‘no fighting.’ Andrade was told ‘if this is your idea [to try and get fired from AEW] you’re not going to get fired if you fight. But you will be sent home. Andrade said ‘don’t worry, there’s not going to be a fight. There’s going to be no fighting.’ This was Tuesday night.

“Sammy was the same thing. ‘Nothing is going to happen.’ They had security there. Everybody was warned ahead of time.”

Conflicting Reports

While most reports have stated that Andrade started the fight, some have suggested that he was goaded into an altercation by Guevara.

On his show, Meltzer gave his most accurate interpretation of events from a source he “totally trusts” within the company.

“Everybody was waiting. Andrade was waiting in the hallway. He got two punches in before things were broken up. Sammy didn’t fight back. Obviously if you watch the show [last night’s AEW Dynamite] the punches didn’t leave a mark. So they weren’t solid punches but he did throw two punches and then it was broken up right away and then Andrade was sent home.”

Bryan Alverez also refuted initial reports that the two had traded blows, clarifying that Guevara did not fight back.

“The story that was not on TMZ but I heard from multiple people was that in fact Sammy did not throw any punches. One person did say that Andrade spun him around and Sammy shoved him and then Andrade punched him. The other stories were that Andrade just punched him. And that Sammy did not fight back.”

What’s next?

Both Meltzer and Alverez agreed that if Guevara had fought as some believed, he would also have been sent home as per AEW’s warning.

Instead, Guevara headlined AEW Dynamite’s three-year anniversary, as he and Chris Jericho defeated ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia and Bryan Danielson.

AEW President Tony Khan has not commented publicly on the fight at this time.

Ric Flair Clarifies Recent Comments on Possibly Wrestling Again

0

Ric Flair has once again clarified his stance, saying that he does not see himself wrestling again.

In July, Flair teamed with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, in what was promoted as the Nature Boy’s final match.

Since then, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer has teased coming back for one last match, recently celebrating his 50th anniversary in wrestling saying he’ll never retire.

Regrets

Flair has yet to wrestle since his retirement, and the Nature Boy doesn’t believe he’ll step back in the ring.

With Ricky Steamboat set to return to the ring next month, Flair has said he feels “inspired” to wrestle again.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair admitted that he wishes that his bout in July wasn’t presented as a retirement match (via WrestleTalk.)

“[When asked if he has any immediate plans to wrestle.] None. When I say it inspires me to want to do it again [I won’t.] It’s not that I couldn’t, I will stand by this, I wish I hadn’t said it was my last match. But I don’t want to disappoint a bunch of fans by doing it again. But I got myself into good shape.”

“I wish I hadn’t said it was my last match.”

Ric Flair on his retirement match in July.

Long Term

Flair does not have any immediate plans to wrestle again and believes that any more matches would be a genuine health risk.

With that said, the Nature Boy said that age should not be a factor in people living their lives to the fullest.

“I feel like as long as you’re healthy you want to do and you should do what you want to do when you get to an age.”

Tony Khan: AEW Taking Shots at WWE is “Corporate Philosophy” from Warner Bros. Discovery

0

AEW President Tony Khan has said that his shots at WWE is part of a “corporate philosophy” from his higher-ups at Warner Bros. Discovery.

Since launching in 2019, Khan and AEW’s roster have never shied away from making reference to WWE.

These digs have been met with a mixed response from audiences, many of whom believe Khan should focus more on his own product.

Challenger Brand

While AEW has proven to be popular with fans, the company still comes up second in almost all metrics to WWE.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Khan addressed whether he considers WWE to be competition, and spoke about a book handed to him from his bosses.

“I’ve said it before, I consider all wrestling as competition. Some people ask me why I’ll talk about other wrestling companies, especially WWE, and I’ll tell you. It was literally a book handed to me over three years ago before the launch of [AEW] Dynamite by Warner Media at the time before it was Warner Bros. Discovery.

“It was telling me what our place [was] already because Dynamite hadn’t launched, but we had carved out a space in the Pay Per View business.

“It was literally a book handed to me over three years ago before the launch of [AEW] Dynamite.”

Tony Khan on the inspiration for his digs at WWE.

“They handed me a book. It was [about] how to be a challenger brand. This is what you are. A challenger brand I learned then, three years ago, is not the industry leader, but it is also not a niche brand. It is not that. It is a big company. It is Pepsi [to Coca-Cola.] It is Burger King [to McDonald’s.]

Khan went on to explain that while challenger brands are not the number one industry leader around, their underdog role makes it easier to cultivate a loyal, passionate fanbase, which AEW has.

Taking Aim

Tony Khan is comfortable in his role as a challenger brand, and is using the tricks of the trade to get ahead.

Using his Burger King analogy, Khan explained how taking aim at the industry leader is part of what being a challenger brand.

“What will get Burger King marketing? What is Burger King marketing? Basically a lot of it is ‘hey McDonalds sucks guys.’

“So for AEW, it’s just part of what we are. We’re a challenger brand. There’s no reason to pretend we’re not. That’s what you are. Embrace it. So it is literally a corporate philosophy handed down on high to me by my boss [Warner Bros. Discovery.]

Earlier this year, Khan faced backlash for his tweet, praising himself as the longest-tenuring wrestling CEO, following the retirement of Vince McMahon amid sexual harassment allegations.

Watch: Suspended Star Returns To All Elite Wrestling

0

A suspended star has made his triumphant return to All Elite Wrestling during the tapings for Dark: Elevation.

On September 4th, All Elite Wrestling held the All Out PPV at the NOW Arena in Chicago. CM Punk captured the AEW World Championship for the 2nd time by defeating Jon Moxley in the main event. The first-ever Trios Champions were crowned as The Elite beat Hangman Page and Dark Order to win the belts. None of them would be champions a few days later on Dynamite.

AEW President Tony Khan was forced to strip CM Punk and The Elite of their titles following a brawl backstage. CM Punk went on a rant (while eating muffins) and The Elite went to his locker room after his comments. The brawl included some punches, Ace Steel reportedly hurling a chair and biting former AEW Champion Kenny Omega, and a myriad of suspensions.

One of those talents suspended was AEW wrestler/The Elite’s cameraman Brandon Cutler. Brandon returned tonight to battle Serpentico during the taping of AEW Dark: Elevation. Cutler got a hero’s welcome from the DC crowd, but the cheers turned to boos when many realized The Elite were not with him.

Cutler was suspended with AEW producer Pat Buck, Michael Nakazawa, and Christopher Daniels. They were not involved in the fight but tried to break it up and were briefly suspended while a third party carried out an investigation into the brawl between The Elite & CM Punk. Their suspensions ended last month but Cutler has not appeared since All Out.

https://twitter.com/darbygargano/status/1577805694543306755?s=20&t=LKHlxt12ZXOPz60mTrc61A

There is no word on when Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will return to the company. In addition to his suspension, CM Punk tore his tricep during the AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxley at All Out. He underwent surgery and the recovery time is typically eight months. The former AEW World Champion was recently spotted wearing a brace on his arm.

What Happened With Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara After AEW Dynamite Went Off The Air

0

AEW Dynamite aired live in Washington D.C. tonight. Jericho Appreciation Society members Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara defeated Daniel Garcia and Bryan Danielson in the main event.

Chris bashed Daniel Garcia over the head with the ROH Championship while the referee was distracted and Sammy capitalized with the cover for the pinfall victory. However, most fans aren’t talking about the show tonight, they are talking about another backstage altercation.

Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara reportedly got into a fight backstage ahead of Dynamite and Andrade was sent home. His scheduled Career vs. Mask match scheduled for AEW Rampage has also been canceled.

What Happened After AEW Dynamite Went Off The Air?

Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia shook hands and posed in the ring after the loss. Daniel Garcia was a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society but Danielson talked him into leaving the group because he’s a professional wrestler, not a sports entertainer.

Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo shared a kiss on the entrance ramp as the crowd booed them. The crowd then broke out in an “Idolo!” chant as Jericho Appreciaton Society made their way backtage.

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the crowd before introducing ROH Champion Chris Jericho once again. Chris gave Tony a hug and made his way to the ring. The crowd sang “Judas” by Fozzy as Le Champion stood in the ring.

Chris Jericho addressed the crowd and said the following:

“It’s a special night here for all of us in AEW. For all of you guys our third anniversary as a company. We started right here in Washington DC, how many of you guys were there that first night?

I’ll never forget it, October 2nd, 2019, the 29th anniversary of my first wrestling match.

And here we are three years later, I just had my 32nd anniversary of my first wrestling match and the reason why is because I still love pro wrestling.

And the main reason for that is because of AEW. If AEW didn’t exist, I don’t think I’d still be wrestling and that is the truth.

The reason why we did so good right out of the gate, why we are still doing right now is because of our fans.

We started a revolution in 2019, and it’s just continued to grow and grow because we are all in this together.

That might sound like some sappy bulls*** but it is not, it is the truth. I really feel that all of us are in this together.

We’ve had ups, we’ve had downs, we’ve had everything in between. But the most important thing is, we do this for you and for people watching at home.

Chris said that AEW will be back in DC for many more anniversaries in the years ahead as the crowd cheered. You can check out everything that happened after Dynamite in the video below.

“She’s Still Low-Key Honorable” – WWE SmackDown Star Praises Bayley For Being A Locker Room Leader

0

Bayley returned to WWE at SummerSlam after spending a year away with a torn ACL. She arrived with IYO SKY & Dakota Kai in a group now known as Damage CTRL.

The Role Model confronted Bianca Belair but Becky Lynch surprisingly stood by The EST’s side after losing her RAW Women’s Championship match against her. Damage CTRL retreated but has since gotten the better of Bianca on numerous occasions. Bayley pinned Bianca in a 6-woman tag team match at Clash at the Castle to pick up the win for Damage CTRL at the PLE earlier this month.

On this past Monday’s edition of RAW, Damage CTRL beat Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka down to close the show. Bianca Belair will defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Bayley in a Ladder Match this Saturday night at WWE Extreme Rules.

Liv Morgan On What She Admires About Bayley

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan recently was a guest on Cageside Seats’ Bleav in Pro Wrestling show. The 28-year-old was asked if there was somebody that she watched while they were on top that had an influence on her and the champion answered Bayley.

Before her turn (heel), I think Bayley. She is someone that I’ve had my entire WWE journey with. She was the locker room leader when I started in NXT. She always wants what is best for like, the betterment of the Women’s Division and women’s wrestling in general.

It’s not just about her, or her being on top, or her looking fantastic. It’s about who you are in there with and everyone else.

Host Rick Ucchino noted that Bayley is now associated with IYO SKY and Dakota Kai in Damage CTRL and The Role Model has helped elevate them in the group. IYO and Dakota recently captured the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Liv noted that Bayley wants her partners to shine just as much as she does, even when she’s portraying a heel.

She wants her partners to shine. She wants to establish her partners, even when she’s being a bad guy. She’s still low-key honorable.

Saraya Gets Physical on AEW Dynamite

0

Saraya got physical for the first time since signing with AEW. After the women’s Trios match, Saraya went after Britt Baker, D.M.D. The two exchanged blows with the other women getting involved as well.

Prior to the women’s match, Baker cut a pre-taped backstage promo in which she declared she was the “Face of the AEW Women’s Division”. The former champion said “as a role model, I am morally obligated to answer the question that everybody’s been asking. The answer is ‘no’, Saraya will not be wrestling in AEW. The doctor’s have not medically cleared her to compete. So let’s ship her off in some bubble wrap and send her away. But I guess that officially makes it my house now, right?”

Saraya and Britt could be AEW’s biggest women’s feud

Britt Baker
(via AEW)

On last week’s Dynamite, Saraya and Baker exchanged words in a segment that was not very good. The segment made Saraya look rusty and not like the star she is. It was smart to let Saraya respond to Baker with her fists instead of throwing her right back on the mic.

Baker is still one of AEW’s most popular women. Saraya is one of the biggest wrestlers that the company has signed. While it may take some time for Saraya to get her feet back under her, on paper this is a big feud. It’s probably the biggest feud the women’s division has had.

With Saraya getting physical, it seems like there has been some sort of clearance from her doctors. If that’s the case, we could be getting a match next month at Full Gear.

MJF def. Wheeler Yuta, William Regal Confronted Him

MJF wrestled his first match in AEW in 129 days tonight against Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta. The crowd chanted “MJF!” as the two locked up to begin the match. Yuta hit an Armdrag and Maxwell regrouped in the corner.

Yuta connected with a Samoan Drop and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Wheeler set up for a move but MJF rolled away. Maxwell used the referee to block himself and then bashed Wheeler’s face into the middle turnbuckle a few times.

MJF sent Wheeler into the turnbuckle and posed in the corner of the ring. Maxwell connected with a Backbreaker and a Tilt-a-Whirl slam for a near fall as Dynamite went to a break.

When Dynamite returned, Wheeler was in control and climbed to the top turnbuckle. MJF rolled out of the way once again and Yuta hopped down. Max hit a Powerbomb into a Backbreaker but Yuta somehow managed to kick out at two.

Wheeler caught MJF with an Enziguri in the middle of the ring. MJF and Yuta kept countering roll-up attempts in an awesome sequence. Both men then hit a Clothesline as the crowd popped. Maxwell locked in the Salt of the Earth and didn’t let go until Wheeler passed out.

After the match, Stokely Hathaway and Lee Moriarty showed up. Lee attacked Wheeler but MJF shouted that he didn’t tell him to do that. It was pointed out on commentary that MJF has a 7-year history with Wheeler.

Stokely handed MJF the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Before he could use it, William Regal exited commentary with some brass knuckles and confronted Maxwell in the ring. MJF trash-talked with Regal but ultimately retreated.

Darby Allin def. Jay Lethal

Darby Allin battled Jay Lethal this week on Dynamite. Lethal controlled the action early and beat Darby down in the corner of the ring. When Dynamite returned from a break, Jay connected with a German Suplex that sent Allin flying across the ring.

Lethal went for a Superplex but Darby blocked it. Jay then locked in a Figure Four in the middle of the ring but Allin reached the ropes to break the hold. Allin set up for the Coffin Drop but got distracted by Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. Darby got Jay in the Last Supper cover for the pinfall victory. After the match, Jay Lethal teased a babyface turn and shook Darby’s hand.

Wardlow Retained The TNT Championship

Wardlow defended the TNT Championship against Brian Cage tonight on Dynamite. Prince Puma accompanied Brian Cage to the ring for the match. Brian Cage dominated the match early and connected with a Superplex for a near fall.

Cage followed it up with a Samoan Drop and went for the cover but the TNT Champion kicked out at two. Wardlow planted Brian Cage with four Powerbombs for the pinfall victory. The Embassy faction then attacked after the match. ROH Tag Team Champions FTR made the save as the crowd cheered.

Saraya Brawled With Britt Baker After A Trios Match

Athena, Willow Nightingale, and AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm battled Serena Deeb, Jamie Hayter, and Penelope Ford in a Trios match. Toni sent Serena to the corner and the babyfaces hit her with a series of Splashes. Deeb tackled Toni to the mat and unloaded some strikes as Dynamite went to a commercial break.

Storm and Deeb traded strikes when Dynamite returned from a break. Deeb hit Athena with a Suplex and Hayter connected with one on Nightingale. Willow battled back and sent Serena flying with a shoulder tackle.

Athena hit Penelope with a slam, Toni connected with a Dropkick on Deeb, Hayter hit a Backbreaker, Penelope hit Willow a Cutter for a two count in a fun sequence. Willow hit a slam for the pinfall victory. After the match, Britt got into the ring with Saraya. The two traded punches and a brawl broke out. Saraya also leveled Rebel with a boot to the face to end the segment.

Willow later challenged Jade Cargill in backstage segment. They will square off at Battle of the Belts 4.

Billy Gunn Will Face Swerve Strickland Next Week, National Scissoring Day

AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed celebrated on National Scissoring Day. Anthony Bowens stood at the podium in the ring and stated that AEW stands for “Acclaimed Every Wednesday”.

Bowens declared himself the “Sultan of Scissor”. Anthony noted that scissoring is a handshake, a sign of friendship, and represents a real team. Bowens said they aren’t some team like Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee. Anthony referred to Strickland as “Sneaky Swerve” and noted that everybody loved The Acclaimed.

Billy Gunn stated that he was sent to City Hall and presented the champions with a golden scissor. Caster brought up Washington winning the Super Bowl over forty years ago. Max said that his father was on that championship team. Caster added that tonight there is no left or right, they are going to do the first-ever bipartisan scissor to unite the country.

Swerve Strickland interrupted and said that Billy Gunn cost Swerve in Our Glory the tag team championships. Stickland challenged Billy Gunn to a match next week on Dynamite. Swerve pulled out a rock and joked “rock beats scissors every time”. Mark Sterling interrupted and hilariously said “paper beats rock, pal” and made his way to the ring with a stack of papers. Sterling wanted The Acclaimed to scissor him but they just kicked his ass instead. Billy then accepted the challenge for next week and scissored with The Acclaimed.

Jon Moxley Warned Hangman Page

Hangman Adam Page squared off against Rush tonight on AEW Dynamite. Rush controlled the match early after Jose the Assistant provided a distraction. Rush choked Hangman with a cable outside the ring and posed for the booing crowd.

When Dynamite returned from a commercial break, Hangman hit a Fallaway Slam as MJF was shown backstage watching the match. Page went for the Buckshot but Jose tripped him up. Rush capitalized with a slam for a near fall. Hangman battled back and hit the Buckshot Lariat for the pinfall victory.

Private Party were about to attack Hangman after the match but AEW World Champion Jon Moxley showed up. Jon got face to face with Hangman before grabbing a microphone. Moxley stated that it has been three years of them circling each other. Jon added that between the two of them, they’ve beaten everyone there is in the company.

Moxley told Hangman that he’s going to break his face in thirteen days because he’s standing in his way of being the true top guy in All Elite Wrestling and “the best in the world”. Hangman Page wanted a fight right now but Moxley declined.

Moxley told Page to watch his mouth to end the promo as MJF was shown laughing backstage. Jon Moxley will defend the title against Page on the special Tuesday night Dynamite on October 18th.

Jungle Boy Will Face Luchasaurus Next Week

Luchasaurus battled Fuego del Sol tonight. He hit a Chokeslam right away and then a slam for the quick pinfall victory. After the match, Jungle Boy showed up with a steel chair and shouted that Luchasaurus was his best friend. Jungle Boy added that Luchasaurus broke his heart, but he will break Luchasaurus’ fingers and body. Christian announced that the match will happen next week on Dynamite in his hometown of Toronto.

Jericho Appreciation Society Picked Up A Victory

Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho battled Daniel Garcia and Bryan Danielson in tonight’s main event. Jericho and Garcia started off the match with a series of chops. Guevara tagged into a chorus of boos. Garcia hit a Dropkick and tagged in Bryan Danielson. The American Dragon unloaded some kicks to Sammy’s chest and hit Jericho with a Suicide Dive through the ropes.

Danielson climbed to the top turnbuckle and delivered a Dropkick to Sammy as Dynamite went to the final commercial break of the night. When Dynamite returned, Bryan climbed to the top rope but Jericho tripped him up. Guevara hit an Enziguri and followed it up with a Spanish Fly on Danielson for a two count.

A “f*** you Sammy!” chant broke out and then Jericho got cheered when he tagged in. Sammy jumped into the ring and Garcia knocked him out. Jericho and Garcia traded punches in the middle of the ring. Danielson got knocked out of the ring and Sammy hit a great move as the crowd chanted “you still stuck!” at Sammy.

Jericho and Daniel Garcia traded chops in the middle of the ring. Chris went for the Lionsault but Garcia got his knees up. Sammy tagged in and went for a springboard Cutter but Garcia countered into a submission hold. Danielson got Jericho in the LeBell Lock at the same time. Danielson and Garcia unloaded elbow strikes before perching Sammy up on the top turnbuckle. Guevara escaped and hit Danielson with a standing Spanish Fly.

The crowd kept chanting “you still stuck!” at Guevara. Sammy went for a GTH but Garcia blocked. Daniel followed it up with a Piledriver but Jericho it up. Bryan connected with the Running Knee strike on Jericho outside the ring. Garcia turned Sammy inside out with a Clothesline as Chris Suplexed Danielson through a table outside the ring.

A “Garcia!” chant broke out and Sammy hit Daniel with a GTH. Guevara didn’t go for the cover but climbed to the top rope. Sammy went for a Shooting Star Press but Garcia got his knees up. Daniel applied the Dragon Slayer in the middle of the ring but Jericho broke it up with a shot to the face with the ROH Championship. Sammy then covered Garcia for the pinfall victory. Jericho Appreciation Society then celebrated to close the show.

Sammy Guevara and Andrade Fight Backstage at AEW Dynamite (Updated)

0

There’s even more drama between Andrade and Sammy Guevara to report, this time resulting in the second backstage fight in AEW over the last 31 days.

According to both TMZ and Fightful Select, there was an altercation backstage on Wednesday prior to the tapings beginning in Washington, D.C. Both outlets report that after some arguing, Guevara pushed Andrade. TMZ’s reporting then notes that there were “punches” thrown, while Fightful Select notes that Andrade fired a punch at Guevara following the push, though its unknown at the moment whether the punch connected.

(Update: On Thursday morning, Fightful Select updated their reporting on the fight and noted that it is now believed that Andrade was the aggressor and Guevara even pushing Andrade is not a confirmed fact. On Wednesday night’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez noted that Guevara was trying to avoid fighting. One source indicated Guevara may have pushed Andrade after he was spun around by Andrade, but that wasn’t confirmed. They report that Andrade got two punches in before things were split up.)

As reported earlier on Wednesday, Andrade was removed from Wednesday night’s AEW Rampage tapings where he was supposed to work against Dark Order’s 10 in a career vs. mask match. 10 has been booked in a different match instead while Andrade was sent home. Guevara was allowed to stay at the tapings and was booked for the main event of Dynamite.

Both Fightful and TMZ are adamant that this story is not a work and that it was a very real altercation.

Following the fight, Andrade took to his social media and posted a graphic that reads “respect me and i’ll respect u.”

Guevara and Andrade have been going after each other on social media and in interviews over the last week. Numerous sources in AEW noted that if it was a work, it wouldn’t be a very good one to be doing as it paints the locker room in a bad light following the fight between Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, CM Punk, and Ace Steel after AEW All Out last month.

Several at AEW have noted that the locker room has been more harmonious in recent weeks following some backstage meetings that involved Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and Bryan Danielson speaking up about getting everyone on the same page. The current situation between Guevara and Andrade is seen as especially disrespectful to those three because of how they have tried to pull everyone together.

SEScoops will provide updates as this situation continues to develop.

Backstage Update On The Drama Between Andrade El Idolo & Sammy Guevara In AEW

0

Andrade El Idolo recently called out Sammy Guevara in an interview with Más Lucha. He has also spent weeks using the #FreeElIdolo hashtag on social media in yet another backstage drama issue in All Elite Wrestling.

He claimed that the former TNT Champion complained backstage because he hit him too hard and this resulted in Guevara sending out a tweet referring to someone as a “jobber”. Sammy didn’t mention Andrade by name but the timing made it relatively obvious.

Andrade responded and claimed that Sammy is scared. Guevara directly responded to that tweet and claimed that Andrade only has a job because of Ric Flair and just wants to go back to WWE.

Backstage Update On Sammy Guevara & Andrade El Idolo

Fightful has provided another update on the drama between Andrade and Sammy. Several staff and talent have commented to Fightful Select about the latest drama in All Elite Wrestling between Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo. Guevara also recently had an issue with Eddie Kingston but claims that he’s just minding his own business and is exhausted by the drama.

According to Fightful, one source stated that if it is a work, it is a bad one. A top talent in All Elite Wrestling was angered by how things played out because it paints a bad picture of the locker room.

Fightful added that the locker room has been more of a unit following the brawl at the All Out media scrum between CM Punk and The Elite. The now infamous brawl forced AEW President Tony Khan to suspend former AEW Champion CM Punk and the new crowned Trios Champions Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

An AEW original told Fightful that they viewed the situation between Sammy Guevara and Andrade as disrespectful to Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley. Those three put in a lot of work following the brawl after All Out to get the locker room on the same page. The report noted that Fightful spoke to some more people that confirmed that the locker room is better nowadays and they aren’t going to concern themselves with the latest drama.

Tony Khan just canceled the Mask vs. Career match between 10 and Andrade for this week’s Rampage and you can check that out here.

Andrade vs. 10 For AEW Rampage is Off

0

Last Friday during AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo challenged Preston “10” Vance for his mask. Vance added his own stipulation: Andrade must leave AEW for good if he loses. However, that match is now off.

Tony Khan tweeted that it was off, but didn’t give a reason. He only said the new match will now be Dark Order vs. Death Triangle for the World Trios Championship. “10” will get the shot he missed at All Out.

Andrade has been pursuing Vance

Preston “Number 10” Vance
Preston “Number 10” Vance

For weeks, Andrade and Jose the Assistant, have been trying to persuade “10” to join him. Vance has declined and they’re usually run off by the other members of Dark Order.

To add another layer to the match that was supposed to happen, October 7 is the anniversary of Mr. Brodie Lee’s final match. The mask that “10” dons was given to him by the late Lee as he was handpicked for Dark Order.

After the original match was announced, “10” tweeted that this match was for Dark Order and for Lee.

Match called off as punishment?

Late Monday night and into Tuesday, Andrade and Sammy Guevara had been exchanging barbs on Twitter in embarrassing fashion. You can read more about their childish behavior here.

This comes on the heels of backstage drama being aired publicly. CM Punk went after multiple people at the now infamous ALL OUT media scrum, followed by BRAWL OUT. Guevara had issues with Eddie Kingston, which lead to the latter being quietly suspended.

After several locker room meetings, it seemed that the AEW locker room had been united and had stabilized. This is another example that band aids can only do so much.

Liv Morgan On Her Match Against Ronda Rousey At WWE Extreme Rules: “She’s Going To Have To Kill Me”

0

Liv Morgan will be defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey once again this Saturday night at Extreme Rules.

It will be an Extreme Rules match at the Premium Live Event this Saturday night. The Baddest Woman on the Planet has been playing mind games with the SmackDown Women’s Champion by claiming she is not capable of getting extreme.

Morgan proved that wasn’t the case when she put Lacey Evans through a table outside the ring on a recent episode of the blue brand.

Liv Morgan Says Ronda Rousey Will Have To Kill Her At WWE Extreme Rules

The SmackDown Women’s Champion recently spoke with Rick Ucchino on the Bleav in Pro Wrestling show. Rick asked what Liv is willing to go through this Saturday night at Extreme Rules to keep her championship. The 28-year-old revealed that there are no lengths she won’t go to in order to win the match.

There’s no lengths. Literally, there is nothing that I won’t do and I mean so very genuinely. There’s absolutely nothing that I wouldn’t do and there’s especially nothing that I wouldn’t do to keep this championship.

Ronda (Rousey) is going to have to kill me. I’ve said it before, but I just mean that so quite literally like, you’re going to have to get creative if you think anything is going to keep me down from winning my championship or keeping my championship.

It’s also, a part of me kind of thinks it’s like funny that people think that I’m crazy for challenging Ronda, who is not from this world (WWE), to a match that literally captured my heart into wrestling.

Extreme Rules, the tables, the ladders, the chairs. That is why I fell in love with WWE. And you guys think that I am crazy for challenging a woman that is not from this sport to a match that made me fall in love with the business? It’s like, I think you’re crazy.

Liv Morgan On Getting Booed By Fans After WWE SummerSlam: “It Was What I Needed”

0

Liv Morgan was a fan-favorite heading into WWE Money in the Bank and fans were elated when she captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Ronda Rousey at the Premium Live Event.

However, fans started to cool on the 28-year-old and even began to boo her following WWE SummerSlam. Liv defended the title against Ronda at this year’s SummerSlam and retained in a match that ended in controversy. Ronda appeared to have the match won via submission but her shoulders were down at the same time.

The referee counted to three while Liv was tapping out but still awarded her the victory. Ronda lost it following the match and attacked the champion. She also beat down the official before WWE security rushed the ring.

Liv Morgan On WWE Fans Booing Her After SummerSlam

Speaking on Cageside Seats’ Bleav in Pro Wrestling show, the SmackDown Women’s Champion spoke about the fans booing her during a promo following SummerSlam. Rick Ucchino asked when Liv felt like it was time to get work as champion and she named her promo after SummerSlam.

It was the week after SummerSlam actually. It was cutting that promo in the ring, it was having fans pissed at me. It was such a reality dose to me that I’ll never forget, but was so grateful and appreciative to have that experience in a weird way.

Which I know sounds weird because I was getting booed. But it was just like, what I needed I feel like, to kind of really like, this is real. You are the champion, you are representing the company. You are representing this title. Everything that you do matters.
