Liv Morgan: “We Were All Shocked” by Vince McMahon’s Retirement

0

Liv Morgan has provided some backstage insight regarding the WWE locker room’s reaction to Vince McMahon’s unexpected retirement.

Morgan is riding high after capturing her first SmackDown women’s championship earlier this month at Money in the Bank. This Saturday, she defends the gold at SummerSlam against former champion Ronda Rousey. The match is seen as a chance for Morgan to solidify herself as a worthy champion.

Ahead of SummerSlam, the 28-year-old grappler spoke with The Mirror about what it was like to capture the gold, WWE’s upcoming Clash at the Castle premium live event and more.

She also discussed the bombshell news of Vince McMahon leaving WWE and Stephanie McMahon becoming the company’s new co-CEO, along with Nick Khan.

How did WWE Superstars react to Vince McMahon’s retirement?

Morgan says the WWE locker room had no idea Vince McMahon was on the verge of leaving the company he had ran for nearly 40 years.

“We were all shocked,” said Morgan. And it felt sudden. But we all owe so much to Vince. So if he felt like it was time, then it was time.”

– Liv Morgan on Vince McMahon retiring

Now that Vince McMahon is no longer with WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan have taken over as co-CEO’s, while Triple H is the new head of Creative and Talent Relations.

Morgan says WWE Superstars are ready to for the new regime and are excited for what’s to come.

“We’re also excited to be working with Stephanie and Nick,” she said. “Stephanie was born into this business, so there’s literally no one better for the job than her. We’re all so excited and we’re just ready to go to work. We’re all just ready to take it to the next level.”

AEW Star Addresses Rumors of Backstage Heat

One AEW star has spoken out on the notion that he might have backstage heat.

AEW has a lot of talent. It’s no secret that Tony Khan has a lot on his plate with AEW, ROH, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Fulham F.C.

Reports have surfaced that there has been a lack of communication within AEW and ROH, leaving talent frustrated. Khan has reportedly been working to smooth things over.

For one AEW talent, many have come to the conclusion that he hasn’t been used to his full potential due to backstage heat.

Brian Cage Speaks Out

The performer in question is Brian Cage. He took to the K & S WrestleFest virtual signing to address rumors of having backstage heat over some social media activity.

“I’ve re-tweeted in favor of plenty of things that fans have said about me,” Cage said. “I mean, why would I not? They are supporting me. So regardless, if someone agrees or not, it’s someone’s opinion and it’s positive for me, why would I be against that? The fact that it’s my wife, she’s obviously going to have a biased opinion.

“It’s not really for what she said, it’s about certain people backstage in AEW who don’t like me there that pointed that [tweet] out and brought that heat to me intentionally. So it wouldn’t have been a big deal but certain individuals there made it a big deal. And that’s what they hung their hat on. There’s more to it, but I’m not going to say that. These certain individuals know who they are.”

Brian Cage on perceived backstage heat

Cage is expected to have a role with the ROH brand going forward. It’ll be interesting to see if Tony Khan can snag a TV deal for the promotion.

Khan claims there has been interest but he’s looking for a deal that makes sense. AEW is currently on TBS with Dynamite and TNT for Rampage.

There’s no word on whether or not Warner-Discovery is interested in bringing ROH to one of its platforms.

Ronda Rousey Made Untelevised Appearance During WWE RAW

0

Ronda Rousey made an appearance on Monday Night RAW this week – but you probably didn’t see it.

The appearance came shortly after Alexa Bliss defeated Doudrop in singles action. During the commercial break, Doudrop got on the mic and said she’s not getting out of the ring until someone comes out and makes her leave.

Rousey’s music then hit and she made her way down to the ring. Nikki A.S.H. rolled out of the ring, but Doudrop stayed in to confront Rousey. Nikki then came in and tried to help Doudrop double team Rousey, but Rousey quickly regained the momentum.

She was able to put Doudrop in an Ankle Lock before Nikki pulled Doudrop out of the ring. Rousey then celebrated briefly inside the ring before making her exit.

Rousey was actually advertised for Monday Night RAW this week, leaving many to wonder why she wasn’t on the program. As it turns out, she was at MSG, but only for the live crowd.

Ronda Rousey Chasing Gold

Currently, Rousey stars on SmackDown Live where she’s chasing back the SmackDown Live Women’s Title. Rousey dropped the strap to Liv Morgan at the Money In The Bank premium live event.

After winning the briefcase earlier that night, Morgan cashed in just moments later on Rousey, who had just defeated Natalya to retain her title. Morgan picked up the win and her first-ever singles title in WWE.

Now, Rousey will get her rematch for the title against Morgan at SummerSlam this Saturday night.

Latest on When Edge is Expected to Return

0

This week’s Raw saw the red brand return to Madison Square Garden, but this was hardly the only notable aspect of the show.

The show also served as the go-home Raw before this Saturday’s Summerslam, and marked 20 years since the WWE debut of Rey Mysterio.

Behind the scenes, this week’s Raw was also the first episode of the show in the post-Vince McMahon era.

Edge Doesn’t Show

In the week running up to this week’s Raw, it was reported that Edge would be returning to TV after being betrayed and attacked by The Judgment Day last month.

According to Fightful Select, plans were put in place for Edge to return on Raw, and the company went as far as to have “travel set for him into town.”

It was later reported that “at least one element” of those travel accommodations had been canceled, and Edge did not appear on the show.

When will Edge Return to WWE TV?

For weeks, WWE has been teasing the return of Edge in a series of cryptic vignettes.

While none of the videos have stated they are meant for Edge, fans have deduced that they relate to the WWE Hall of Famer given the imagery and references to some of Edge’s biggest feuds.

After not showing up on Raw, the belief now is that Edge will return at this Saturday’s Summerslam Premium Live Event instead.

On Raw, a match between The Judgment Day and the Mysterios was announced, and the no-disqualification will allow Edge to interfere.

Tony Khan Discusses His Relationship With AEW Wrestlers

0

Tony Khan recently spoke with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston about his relationships with the members of the AEW roster and the range of connections he has to them.

Criticism Regarding Communication

Following the ROH Death Before Dishonor event on July 23, a report emerged stating that Jonathan Gresham had requested his release from Ring Of Honor (ROH).

The former ROH World Champion had been told that creative decisions needed to go through Khan, but Gresham couldn’t get in contact with Khan until only a few hours before Saturday’s show.

There seems to be quite a bit of criticism regarding the lack of communication within AEW; from stars such as Joey Janela, Marko Stunt, and Chavo Guerrero. However, it does seem that it is not all across the board as many wrestlers have praised their relationship with the AEW Owner.

Tony Khan: “I Am A Boss And Try To Be A Friend”

When speaking with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston, Tony Khan discussed his relationships with AEW wrestlers and how they vary.

“I think in most cases, I am a boss and try to be a friend. I mean, I guess in every case, if you work for AEW, I’m a boss, but if you know it’s somebody I’ve gotten to spend time with I try to at least be very friendly and make it a fun place to work.

And there are a lot of people I have different relationships with some people are older and you know, I can learn a lot from them. And a lot of the young wrestlers, I do try to give advice to and give them ideas and things they can use on TV on Wednesday night dynamite on TBS, or on Friday night rampage on TNT and hopefully things that they can use to develop their skills and also to make them more interesting to the wrestling fans who watch the shows.”

Tony Khan Addresses Vince McMahon’s Resignation And How It Affects AEW

0

Tony Khan gave his opinion on Vince McMahon’s Resignation when he spoke with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston.

Shakeup In WWE

This week, Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE, after decades of running the company.

McMahon’s retirement comes one month after he stepped down as CEO and Chairman of the Board, due to the allegations of misconduct against multiple female employees.

McMahon is alleged to have paid over $12 million in Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) over 16 years.

WWE executive Paul Levesque (Triple H) has assumed “all responsibilities related to WWE’s creative,” the company announced Monday morning.

Tony Khan Shares His Opinion

Tony Khan recently spoke with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston about the recent shakeup within WWE’s backstage personnel.

The CEO and General Manager of AEW said:

“I believe that there are a lot of great wrestling fans all over the world who are following pro wrestling pretty closely and there’s obviously been shakeups. I’ve definitely followed that promotion since I was a small kid. And it’ll be interesting to see how things turn out in the world of pro wrestling and I’m a big fan of pro wrestling all over the place, not just AEW. And now not just Ring of Honor either. We’ve worked with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and a lot of other great companies all over the world.

So, we’ll see what’s to be held for the future of the pro wrestling business. But I’m glad that AEW and Ring of Honor are both a huge part of it with AEW every Wednesday on TBS, and every Friday on TNT and now Ring of Honor with the Pay Per View events on Bleacher Report hopefully, will lead to a weekly Ring of Honor also going forward.”

Joey Janela Discusses Jim Cornette Fans Harassing His Family Members

0

Joey Janela is one of the faces of deathmatch wrestling and a mortal enemy of Jim Cornette. The former wrestling promoter has now confined himself to staying at home and targeting wrestlers who he thinks are ‘killing the business.’ Though his fans do the bidding for him and per Janela, his whole family has been harassed by them.

The former AEW star recently appeared on The Sessions podcast. Speaking about how Cornette makes his living nowadays, he revealed that the former manager doesn’t leave his house anymore:

“He knows what gets the listeners and makes the money because he’s not leaving his house. He’s like, Agoraphobic or something. He don’t like to leave. I think he likes going to the supermarket and that’s it. He won’t do appearances anymore or anything. This is all he has. His podcast. This is how he’s gonna live out the rest of his life, which might be two years might be 10 years. Who knows? because Evil never dies.”

‘I Might Go Out Dimebag Darrell Style’: Joey Janela

Joey Janela

Joey Janela then opened up about his encounters with the fans of Jim Cornette. He revealed that they have sent outlandish messages to his family. The Bad Boy also discussed the possibility of being attacked by a Cornette fan in real life:

“These people have nothing to lose, some of these people. This is like their religion. Jim Cornette is the pastor of the church. They’re gonna drink his Kool-Aid. I don’t know, I might go out Dimebag Darrell style, some deranged fan comes in and kills me because they believe every word he says. That I’m actually ruining the business they love.

Someone brought it up to me last year – ‘Maybe you should calm down a little bit.’ These people are actually crazy. They’re sending Facebook messages to my mom. Just sending me just the most deranged fucked up messages on my personal Facebook, on my mom’s Facebook, family members. Jim Cornette fans. You have to realize these people are a little bit crazy. Now everywhere I go, there’s always at least a fan that is there for the sole intention of heckling me.”

Details on Who Wrote The First WWE RAW After Vince’s Resignation

0

We have some backstage details to pass along on who wrote this week’s WWE Monday Night RAW after Vince McMahon’s resignation.

As noted, McMahon stepped down as head of creative, leaving Triple H to fill the void. This was the first episode of Monday Night RAW in which McMahon was not backstage running the show.

Who Wrote This Week’s WWE RAW?

However, the show did have McMahon’s fingerprints on it. According to a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, much of the show was already written on Thursday of last week. Nobody ripped up anything and only a few minor changes were made.

For the most part, the show fans saw this week was the one that had already been approved. Fans will likely have to wait until after SummerSlam for any major changes to be seen, as the storylines leading into the event are already laid out.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the new regime does for the on-screen WWE product. McMahon has been at the helm of creative for decades, however, in recent years he’s received heavy criticism for the product that has been dished out.

With Triple H now overseeing things, WWE fans are hoping for a much different product, especially with the TV-14 format seemingly returning after SummerSlam. Not only is McMahon out as head of creative, but he was forced to step down as WWE CEO as well.

Now, his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, and Nick Khan serve as co-CEOs of WWE.

John Cena Joins Fortnite on July 28th

WWE and Epic Games have become quite chummy and that much is evident with recent partnerships.

Fortnite, the most popular free-to-play game today, will be adding a major WWE superstar to the item shop.

And his name is John Cena!

Epic Games made the reveal in a statement on its website. The Cena outfit will be available in the item shop this Thursday (July 28) at 8 p.m. ET.

The new outfit comes with entrance gear and in-ring attire.

Cena recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with WWE. During an in-ring speech on the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw, Cena said he doesn’t know when he’ll wrestle again but promised he has a lot more than one more match left in him.

Cena’s addition to Fortnite is part of the “Epic SummerSlam” partnership with WWE and Epic Games.

WWE will also have its presence felt on Fall Guys and Rocket League. The Undertaker, Asuka, and Xavier Woods have their likenesses in Fall Guys, while special Roman Reigns and John Cena vehicles will be added to Rocket League.

The date for those items is also July 28.

Why WWE Opened RAW With Logan Paul & Miz Brawl (Report)

0

This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW opened up right into a brawl between The Miz and Logan Paul.

Typically, WWE opts to open up their shows with a big Superstar coming out to cut a promo. However, when RAW went live on the USA Network this week, Miz and Paul were already smack in the middle of exchanging blows inside the ring before WWE officials came out to separate them.

The Reason Logan Paul & Miz Opened RAW

Despite WWE signing Logan Paul due to his massive popularity, there were concerns that the Madison Square Garden crowd would boo him out of the building.

To avoid (babyface) Logan Paul from getting heavily booed, Dave Meltzer reports that WWE opted to start the broadcast the action already under way. There were reports that Paul did, in fact, receive heavy boos when making his entrance before the show went live.

Paul did appear later on in the show again, hosting his Impaulsive segment with The Miz and Maryse. That segment ended with Ciampa and Miz beating Paul down, concluding with Miz nailing Paul with the Skull Crushing Finale.

After Miz hit Paul, there was a chant of “one more time.” Paul signed a WWE contract shortly after making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38 earlier this year. There, he worked as a heel, teaming with Miz and defeating The Mysterios.

However, after that match, Miz hit Paul with the Skull Crushing Finale, turning on him. WWE has essentially been trying to turn Paul babyface ever since.

Logan Paul and The Miz will square off this Saturday at WWE SummerSlam.

Buddy Matthews Wouldn’t Mind Aalyah & Rhea Ripley Fighting Over Him

0

Monday’s edition of WWE Raw saw a tense backstage confrontation between Rhea Ripley and Rey Mysterio’s daughter, Aalyah.

Wrestling fans who are “in the know” recognized a unique connection between these two women. Aalyah formerly portrayed the on-screen love interest of Buddy Matthews (Buddy Murphy), Ripley’s current real-life boyfriend.

Buddy Matthews Reacts

The House of Black member became aware of this on-screen interaction and addressed it on social media.

Matthews joked that Aalyah and Rhea can “fight for his custody” in a ladder match, a nod to the infamous Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero match from SummerSlam 2005.

Based on the reaction .GIF posted by Rhea Ripley, she seems ready to fight for her man.

Tony Khan Weighs in on Unifying AEW/ROH World Championships

0

In 2019, Tony Khan shook the wrestling world by founding AEW among others, bringing competition to Vince McMahon’s WWE.

In March this year, Khan expanded his wrestling hold by purchasing Ring of Honor, making a rare appearance on AEW Dynamite to announce his acquisition.

Hybrid Championships

With Khan controlling both companies, some have speculated of a possible crossover World title, which would be defended in both AEW and Ring of Honor.

During the ROH Death Before Dishonor Media Call, Khan was asked about a ‘hybrid’ title and is opposed to the idea (via Wrestling Inc.)

“The titles, I think, are going to be kept separate. I wouldn’t have a hybrid championship or any hybrid championships, I think, between AEW and Ring of Honor.”

Tony Khan on the possibilty of unifying the AEW and Ring of Honor World Championships.

At this time, the ROH World Title is held by Claudio Castagnoli, with the AEW World Championship held by CM Punk, with Jon Moxley as interim AEW World Champion.

AEW-ROH Crossovers

Tony Khan may be against the idea of a hybrid World Championship, but both shows have had plenty of crossovers already.

At Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor, AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli captured the ROH World Championship from Jonathan Gresham.

Gresham, who recently requested his release from ROH, has also made a handful of AEW appearances, with his most recent being a win over Jordan Oasis on the July 16, 2022 Dark.

Samoa Joe, who signed with AEW earlier this year is the reigning Ring of Honor World Television Champion, having won the title from Minoru Suzuki on the April 12, 2022 AEW Dynamite.

Becky Lynch Tells Her Favorite Vince McMahon Story

0

Vince McMahon was notorious for being a workaholic and not taking any time off before his retirement. The one time he did take a holiday, the wrestling veteran came up with the biggest spectacle of the wrestling business, according to Becky Lynch. Adam’s Apple on YouTube recently caught up with The Man.

When asked about her favorite Vince McMahon story in light of his retirement, Becky recalled the time she asked the boss about taking Holidays:

“Probably, I sat down with him [and asked] ‘Hey Vince, you ever take any time off?'” recalled Becky Lynch, “He’s like ‘Well, one time I took a holiday and I was lying on the beach. I couldn’t relax. Then I came back and I said you know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna do a big event. It’s gonna be like the SuperBowl and we’re gonna call it WrestleMania.’ I was like ‘Well Vince, I think you should take more Holidays.'”

Apart from this, Lynch was also asked about her favorite match. Replying to it, she said that currently it’s the WrestleMania 38 bout against Bianca Belair.  She mentioned how they stole the show at the Grandest Stage Of Them All and got people talking.

Becky Lynch is currently scheduled to face Bianca Belair at SummerSlam in a WrestleMania rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship this Saturday.

When Does Rey Mysterio Plan to Retire?

0

This week, Rey Mysterio celebrated his 20th anniversary in WWE and has been one of the promotion’s most consistently popular Superstars.

Debuting in July 2002 after making a name for himself in WCW and ECW, Rey is a three-time WWE World Champion, having won gold in 2006, 2010 and 2011.

Rey is also a Grand Slam winner, having held the United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Titles in addition to World Championship gold.

Rey’s Retirement Plans

Speaking recently to Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Rey discussed his career, and that it will soon be coming to an end.

Rey admitted that he knows he cannot wrestle forever, and has a plan to call it a career.

“For me, now that I’m getting closer to my fifties and I see my son wrestling, I tell myself that I wanna go three more years and I don’t wanna go past fifty. But then I remind myself, what if I feel good. Can you still go another year? As of right now, my date has always been to not go over fifty.”

Despite winning his first World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 in 2006, Rey is also yet to headline WWE’s biggest event of the year.

Cody Rhodes is Teasing a WWE Royal Rumble Return

0

Hours before the WWE Hell in a Cell event in June, Cody Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle but still competed at the event.

Defeating Seth Rollins in the main event of Hell in a Cell, Rhodes was attacked by Rollins the next night on Raw, writing him off TV.

“The American Nightmare” hasn’t competed since then but has been teasing a return to the ring.

Cody’s Return?

WWE has said that Cody Rhodes will be out until March 2023, though many expect him to be back far sooner than that.

Some have suggested that the date WWE has given is to build up a surprisingly early return at next year’s Royal Rumble.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Rhodes addressed rumors of a return at January’s Premium Live Event (via WrestleTalk.)

“My Royal Rumble stats are top 10, they’re phenomenal. So if I was to come back at that event, there is a chance I could actually get up in the top five and I’m all about that …. You never know! We’ll see.”

Rhodes currently boasts the ninth-longest cumulative time spent in Royal Rumble matches.

Cody’s Rumble History

Cody’s Royal Rumble stats are impressive, even though he has never won the prestigious 30-man match.

In his first Rumble in 2008, Cody, then a World Tag Team Champion lasted over 23 minutes, the eighth longest Superstar in the match.

A year later, Cody lasted over 37 minutes and was the second-to-last Superstar eliminated, making it to the final three.

Rhodes’ most impressive Royal Rumble performance was in 2012 when he lasted 41:59, the second-longest in the match behind The Miz.

He also eliminated six Superstars in that match, more than anyone else in the 2012 Rumble.

Rey Mysterio Reveals What Vince McMahon Wanted Before His WWE Debut

0

Rey Mysterio’s iconic mask has become synonymous with his character. It’s almost impossible to imagine him wrestling without it at this point but there was a time when Mysterio had dropped it from his gear. Rey had to drop his mask after losing a match to nWo in WCW back in 1999. He credits Vince McMahon for bringing it back.

The wrestling veteran had an interview with Ariel Helwani to celebrate 20 years of his WWE debut. Speaking about his arrival in WWE, Mysterio recalled how he had been wrestling without his mask for some time. The former world champion then told the story of how he got his mask back:

“So funny story, I leave WCW. Then I get signed by WWE, and at the time, I’m wrestling without a mask. I had done a couple dates in Mexico and I was comfortable wrestling without it.” recalled Rey Mysterio, “I go into OVW in Kentucky. I started training before I went into WWE, before my first match. During that week of training, a week before I debuted, they were like, ‘Rey, Vince wants to see what outfit you’re gonna wear.’

So I showed them a getup of what I was wearing at the time. They were like, ‘but where’s the mask?’ I said, ‘I’m not wearing a mask right now.’ ‘Oh no, Vince wants you to bring the mask back.’ I was like, ‘Oh, you guys should have told me.'”

How many masks does Rey Mysterio have?

Rey Mysterio Masks

Over the years, Rey Mysterio has used many different masks and ring gears. When asked how many masks he has in his collection, Mysterio claimed that he has lost count:

“Man, I’ve lost count. But if we put my wife’s purses and shoes next to mine, I think we’re right about the same. I would have to say, yes over 1000.”

The Rock Has A Shark Named After Him

0

Shark Week is all about celebrating the majestic kings of the sea, and The Rock is getting involved in more than one way.

The 34th annual Shark Week began on July 24th, with Discovery intending to take the week-long event to the next level after their recent acquisition of WarnerMedia.

The Great One was brought into the mix with the same intention. The Rock is hosting the show this time, replacing Josh Gates from last year.

The Rock Reacts

Atlantic White Shark Conservancy recently revealed on Twitter that they have named a Shark after the People’s Champion. The Shark had an injury on his dorsal fin, but the conservancy’s research team oversaw the healing process.

The Rock responded to this news mentioning how we don’t see such injuries in sharks very often. The Hollywood star also noted that he would want to meet the creature named after him someday:

“That’s a gnarly injury we don’t often see on the apex predator. Good to see the recovery! I’d be honored to meet #TheRock? one day. Thanks for the tweet.”

Shark Week premiered on Disney back in July 1988. Its primary goal was to eradicate the fear of Sharks among people who had seen Jaws movie franchise. It has become an annual phenomenon since then.

Roman Reigns References Vince McMahon’s Retirement On Raw

0

The Undisputed WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns returned on Raw this Monday night and dropped a big reference during his promo.

The Bloodline showed up during the second segment of the show. Paul Heyman started hyping up The Tribal Chief’s upcoming title defence at SummerSlam.

Though he could not conclude his talk, as Theory interrupted the wise man. Mr Money In The Bank told Reigns that he will win both the US championship and the Undisputed world title at SummerSlam.

The Head Of The Table invited Theory to the ring, and he told the young star that he should look around and analyse the situation before saying anything.

Roman Reigns then told Theory ‘you’re daddy is not here anymore,’ referencing to former WWE chairman Vince McMahon retiring from the company last week.

The segment ended with Reigns leaving the ring with others. You can check out the full segment from Raw below:

What Happened With Riddle After WWE Raw Went Off The Air?

The first episode of WWE Raw post-Vince McMahon has ended and here’s what went down when the show went off the air.

This week’s show for the red brand emanated from the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main event featured a six-man tag team match as Riddle and the Street Profits took on Roman Reigns and The Usos.

Also showcased on Raw was the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio. He teamed with his son Dominik to take on Finn Balor and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day.

After The Show

The conclusion of WWE Raw saw Riddle take a Spear from Roman Reigns, resulting in a loss. Seth Rollins used this as the perfect opportunity to attack a vulnerable Riddle ahead of their SummerSlam showdown.

Rollins delivered a Curb Stomp to Riddle right on the steel steps.

Once the cameras stopped rolling, Rollins made his way to the back with Raw color commentator Corey Graves. As for Riddle, he needed assistance following the vicious attack.

There was no dark match after the show.

Raw Talk

In addition, WWE held its Raw Talk show tonight. Ciampa, The Miz, and Maryse made an appearance. Ciampa delivered a passionate promo ripping Logan Paul.

Also showing up was The Judgment Day. Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley all mocked The Mysterios, and Balor was presented with a birthday cake.

JBL was also on the show serving as an analyst.

Vince McMahon’s WWE Retirement Hastened By Federal Investigations

0

The Wall Street Journal has a new report regarding Vince McMahon and his retirement from WWE.

The report notes McMahon was driven into retirement by investigations from federal prosecutors relating to his hush money scandals. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also investigating McMahon.

WWE alluded to investigations in their SEC filing but did not state a specific entity. WWE stated they had received “regulatory, investigative and enforcement inquiries, subpoenas or demands” regarding the hush money payments. McMahon’s departure was listed as a resignation by WWE.

The WSJ report noted they tried to reach out to spokespeople for McMahon and WWE, but they did not immediately respond to the requests.  A spokesman for the independent directors of the WWE board declined to comment. Neither the SEC nor the spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Connecticut provided any comment.

McMahon announced his retirement from the company last Friday. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named new co-CEOs on Monday, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque is the Head of Creative.

The Wall Street Journal previously broke the news about the WWE Board of Directors investigating McMahon over a $3 million settlement that McMahon had agreed to pay a former employee who he allegedly had an affair with and him paying more than $12 million to four women formerly with the company to “suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.”

Update on Edge’s Status Ahead of WWE Raw Tonight

A big episode of WWE Monday Night Raw is going down on July 25 and there are rumblings on the status of Edge.

The “Rated-R Superstar” has been out of action since Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley kicked him out of The Judgment Day. Edge was replaced by Finn Balor, who led the charge in ousting the former faction leader.

Priest put Edge out of commission with a Conchairto.

Now, there’s some chatter about whether or not Edge’s planned surprise appearance will come to fruition inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Edge’s Travel

Fightful had reported that Edge was factored into plans for the July 25 edition of Raw. It would be his first appearance since June 6.

WWE has been running vignettes teasing Edge’s return.

In an update, however, Fightful has been told that Edge’s travel plans have been altered and there’s no word on how that may impact his planned surprise return tonight.

WWE did not advertise Edge showing up tonight. If he does indeed appear, he’ll likely be going after Balor and Priest.

The Judgment Day members are set to meet Rey and Dominik Mysterio in a tag team match. WWE will be celebrating Rey Mysterio’s 20th anniversary with the company.

Keep it locked on the SEScoops homepage for live coverage of tonight’s episode of WWE Raw.

The time for a potential matchup between Paige and Baker has never been more right. Recently, Paige, real name Saraya Bevis, wrapped up her time with WWE when her contract expired in June.

Paige & Her Injury History

For the past several years, Paige has been sidelined from in-ring competition due to an injury. During that time, WWE tried to use her as an on-screen authority figure, as well as a manager, however, she later was removed from WWE TV altogether.

As for Baker, she’s currently one of the biggest stars over in AEW, who is the favorite to sign Bevis now that she’s free of contractual obligations from WWE. Both Bevis and Baker have teased a potential showdown in the past.

Despite Bevis’ injury concerns, she has stated she fully intends on wrestling again. She hasn’t competed inside of the ring since 2017 after neck injuries caught up with her.
