Michelle McCool Names Current WWE Star She Is Interested In Facing

0

Michelle McCool has wrestled in a few battle royals since her 2018 return. What she hasn’t done is participate in a singles match and she appears to be eying a current women’s champion for the same.

The former Divas champion recently appeared on Wives Of Wrestling podcast. She talked about things such as the different eras of wrestling and more.

Speaking about potential opponents if she were to wrestle another singles match, McCool said that she would love to work with Raw women’s champion Bianca Belair:

“If I were to ever come back, I would love to work with Bianca. It’s just crazy, she’s just crazy strong, she’s just crazy talented, but I really had fun with some of the newer girls this past Rumble,

Liv Morgan, I really enjoyed working with, Zelina, but I think Bianca.” said Michelle McCool, “Becky would be fun just to talk trash with, but yeah, I think Bianca would be the one.”

The wrestling veteran also praised Belair for her in-ring abilities. She called the EST of WWE the most athletically gifted human she has ever seen.

McCool most recently wrestled at the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble. She entered at #10 and lasted over 20 minutes before being eliminated by Mickie James.

CM Punk Addresses Botches During AEW World Title Win at Double or Nothing

0

CM Punk may have captured his first World Championship in nine years at last weekend’s Double or Nothing event, but the match with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page did see some mistakes.

During the match, Punk attempted Page’s Buckshot Lariat twice and botched both attempts.

On both occasions, the former WWE Champion failed to land the front flip over the top rope that sets up the move.

While Punk followed through with the lariat the second time the fans weren’t impressed by the error.

Speaking on the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum, Punk said that this was his first time botching the move.

“That’s one of those f*cking things. That’s the only time that I’ve missed it since I’ve tried it, and I did it on TV, and I just didn’t hit it for whatever reason, and it sucks. But that’s the fun thing about pro wrestling, I’m more comfortable when sh*t goes f*cking sideways, and not everything needs to look perfect, in my opinion. I’ll probably beat myself up about it way too much, but, you know, mistakes happen.”

“That’s one of those f*cking things. That’s the only time that I’ve missed.”

CM Punk on botching the Buckshot Lariat.

Punk’s win marks the first time he’s held a championship since losing the WWE title to The Rock at the 2013 Royal Rumble.

After the show, Punk thanked his wife April Mendez (AJ Lee), and celebrated in the ring with FTR.

Matt Hardy Details Conversation With Vince McMahon Before Leaving WWE

0

Matt Hardy had an honest conversation with Vince McMahon before leaving WWE. According to him, the boss appreciated his honesty.

The AEW star talked about the end of his last WWE run on the latest episode of his podcast. He claimed that while Mr. McMahon still saw value in him, the boss had started seeing him more as a producer than an in-ring talent.

Hardy on the other hand thought that he still had gas left in the tank. So he decided to just tell this directly to the chairman of the boards:

“I just told him, ‘I know how you see me,’ you’re trying to move me to a producer role, and I’m not ready to do that quite yet. I’m ready to still finish up in the ring, I know I have a few more years left and I’m going to go until it’s time for me to step out.”

Revealing Mr. McMahon’s reaction to the conversation, Matt Hardy said that the boss respected this truth because so many people try to lie to him:

“He absolutely respected that and he said ‘Well, thank you for being honest,’ because so many people just bullsh*t him all the time … They knew where I was going to end up.”

Matt Hardy also revealed that Triple H had pitched the idea of him leading a faction in NXT while also working as a coach for younger talents to try and keep him in the company. Hardy left WWE in March 2020.

Teddy Long says Drunken Jakks Employee Told Him There’d be no More Figures of Him

0

Long-time WWE on-screen personality Teddy Long has said he was told by a drunk representative of Jakks Pacific that there would be no more action figures for him.

Despite not being a wrestler, Long would be immortalized in plastic multiple times, including in a two-pack with Rey Mysterio in the Jakks Pacific ‘Adrenaline 13’ wave of toys.

Speaking to Wrestling Inc, Long recalled being told that no more figures would be made of him by Jakks Pacific.

“One night at one of the WrestleMania parties, the guy from Jakks Pacific, he comes up to me, he’d been drinking a while and he said, ‘Well, won’t be seeing no more action figures of you, Teddy Long, we’ve been told not to make any more action figures.’ I guess the alcohol told him to tell me that.”

WWE’s working relationship with Jakks ended in late 2009 and veteran-toy manufacturer Mattel has been making WWE action figures ever since.

Teddy Long in WWE

Joining the then-WWF in 1998 after over a decade with Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW, Long was originally a referee but became a manager years later.

In 2004, Teddy was announced as the General Manager of SmackDown and would also serve as General Manager of ECW from 2008 to 2009.

Long last appeared in WWE in May 2021 during a throwback edition of SmackDown.

Top Dolla Comments On Sasha Banks And Naomi Walking Out Of WWE

0

Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of WWE has been one of the most talked about stories of the past few weeks. There are a lot of rumors and speculations about the motivation behind their decision. However, the only people who know the complete truth are the WWE stars and the officials who handled the situation. Former WWE star AJ ‘Top Dolla’ Francis is emphasizing this fact while talking about the whole thing.

The former Hit Row member recently had an interview with Public Enemies podcast. Weighing in on the situation with Sasha Banks and Naomi, he mentioned how everyone thinks they know the truth. At the end of the day, both the wrestling stars did what they think was the right thing to do:

“I don’t know the backgrounds of what happened. I mean at the end of the day; we don’t know what was the real reason. Everybody’s gonna have a story. Everybody gonna have a reason why they did something. Everybody [will say] they know the reason that they did something.” said Top Dolla, “But at the end of the day, Sasha and Naomi felt that what they did was the right thing to do. If you agree with it, or you don’t agree with it, that was their call.”

He continued: “Are they probably gonna get punished for doing that? Yeah, probably. Are they gonna come back? I would assume. I would assume they’d come back from it. But like, you never know man.”

Lacey Evans Didn’t Appear on WWE Raw Despite Being Advertised

0

Last-minute WWE changes leading to announced appearances getting nixed is not a new thing. Lacey Evans is the latest victim of this trend.

WWE had announced on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw that the Sassy Southern Belle will be returning to action on this week’s episode of the show.

However, the episode this week had no mention of why Evans’ match was cut. WWE did reference her appearance as the honorary Grand Marshal at the Coca-Cola 600.

WWE Rebooting Lacey Evans’ Character

Lacey is a former US Marine so the company probably wanted to time her return with the Memorial Day but plans changed and it couldn’t take place.

Lacey Evans has been away from ring for over a year. She last wrestled during the February 15, 2021 episode of Raw. She was scheduled to compete at the Elimination Chamber but was pulled due to her pregnancy.

WWE started airing vignettes for her return from the April 8 episode of SmackDown this year. She was then drafted to Raw.

Despite the vignettes promoting her as a babyface, reports suggested that Evans is supposed to work as a heel. Whether or not it actually turns out to be the case will be revealed when the female star finally makes her in-ring return.

Jeff Hardy & Adam Cole Pulled from AEW Los Angeles Debut

0

Both Jeff Hardy and Adam Cole have been removed from a match they were previously supposed to take part in during the upcoming June 1 episode of Dynamite.

AEW had announced during last night’s Double Or Nothing PPV that The Undisputed Elite will be competing in a 10 men tag team match on Wednesday’s show.

They had confirmed that Jeff and Matt Hardy will be teaming up with Christian Cage and the AEW tag team champions Jurassic Express to face Adam Cole and company in this bout.

However, the company posted an updated graphic for the bout on Monday. In the tweet as seen below, both Hardy and Cole have been removed from the promotional image:

AEW Los Angeles debut
This match is now advertised as an 8-man tag

The team of Jeff and Matt Hardy took on The Young Bucks in a dream match during the Double Or Nothing PPV. The Hardys picked up the win in this tag team match.

Adam Cole on the other hand, competed in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament against Samoa Joe. He defeated the current ROH TV champion to win the tournament.

There is no word yet on why either of these names were removed from the match. It’s possible that one of them may not have been cleared to compete and the other was simply removed to balance things out.

What Happened After May 30 WWE Raw Went Off The Air

Another episode of WWE Raw is in the books.

The May 30 episode of Raw was held inside the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. The show featured a brawl between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins after Seth referenced Cody’s time in AEW.

There was also a non-title match between Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Asuka. Belair ended up winning the match with a rollup. After the match, Becky Lynch attacked both women.

The show ended with a contract signing between Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Omos. Despite a run-in from Cedric Alexander, the show ended with Lashley nailing Omos through a table with a Spear.

Once Cameras Stopped Rolling

It’s been a running theme for WWE to have Cody and Seth wrestle once Raw goes off the air. Things were no different on May 30 in Des Moines.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins did battle at least one more time before their Hell in a Cell match on June 5.

Cody emerged victorious in the dark match.

Jake Atlas Arrested, Charged With Domestic Assault

0

Jake Atlas (Kenny Sanchez) has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic assault).

The police report obtained by PWinsider.com notes it happened on May 23 after police responded to the domestic violence call at 12:57 AM.

Atlas was out drinking and called his partner to come pick him up, which led to him wanting his partner to drink with him and then go with him back to a female friend’s house to take part in sexual activities. His partner said in the report, “he [the partner] showed the female half more attention than Atlas, which upset Atlas. This started a huge verbal argument between him and Atlas.”

Atlas allegedly became physically aggressive and charged his partner. A witness stepped in to prevent an attack. Although Atlas’ partner left, he followed and attempted to attack. Atlas scratched his victim and tore his tank top before the witness separated them.

The witness agreed to let Atlas in to get his dog but didn’t leave. His partner then called the police, feeling Atlas would not leave or calm down. Atlas signed a no-contact order agreeing to have no communication and to stay 500 feet away from the victim on the same day he was arrested. He was released from jail and is set to appear before Orange County, Florida court on June 28 where he will be officially arraigned.

Atlas is currently recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered during an AEW Rampage taping in January and underwent surgery in February.

Seth Rollins References AEW on Monday Night Raw

Seth Rollins dropped some AEW references on the May 30 episode of WWE Raw.

Cody Rhodes cut an in-ring promo saying he was looking to hurt Rollins in their third encounter at Hell in a Cell on June 5. Rollins interrupted by appearing in the crowd with a microphone.

Referencing Cody Rhodes’ Time With AEW

During his promo, Rollins said Cody left WWE six years ago because he couldn’t cut it. He then said Cody “ran off with his little friends,” which was a reference to him helping build AEW with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

Rollins said when that didn’t work out for Cody, he came back to fulfill his father’s legacy.

Seth then mentioned the time Cody destroyed a throne resembling Triple H with a sledgehammer at Double or Nothing 2019. Seth said he’ll be damned if he lets Cody come back to WWE to take over the throne that he destroyed.

Eventually, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins got tired of talking and brawled until they had to be separated.

William Regal Wanted To Sign Two AEW Stars To NXT

0

William Regal was looking to hire two of AEW’s future stars during his time in charge of developmental at WWE.

Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia are two big parts of AEW TV right now. Garcia is a part of the new Jericho Appreciation Society. Yuta is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club with Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and William Regal.

Both Garcia and Yuta made name for themselves on the independents before getting signed by AEW.

William Regal’s Interest In Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta

Regal was previous the Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting during his time in WWE. He was released by the company in January. However, before his release, Regal took notice of both stars.

William Regal recently spoke with Alex McCarthy of TalkSport.

The Blackpool Combat Club leader said, “They got themselves noticed on COVID. I was going to hire them last year in WWE. I had them and was ready to [sign them], but then a change in philosophy happened. I was going to hire both of them then, I wanted to hire them.

“I’m so happy that whatever he [Yuta] has done, he’s doing an incredible job and now we’re all focused on giving him everything we’ve got so he can get there a lot quicker than we got there. He’s getting good so quick because we can all tell him over the past 20 years what not to do.”

NXT To NXT 2.0 Rebrand

In September of 2021, WWE began to rebrand NXT to NXT 2.0. This also led to a shift in the athletes that they hire.

We are now beginning to see athletes from other sports, younger competitors, and more entertainment-based characters as opposed to the previous thread of signing wrestlers off the independents.

Here are the takeaways from tonight’s show:

Becky Lynch Attacked Asuka & Bianca Belair Ahead Of The Triple Threat At Hell In A Cell

Becky Lynch kicked off the show to a great reaction from the crowd. Lynch showed Asuka winning MITB in 2020 (the terrible one at WWE headquarters) and how Becky handed her the title the following night on RAW. Becky claimed that even then she had a plan because Asuka was the best, but she knew she could beat her.

Asuka interrupted and mocked Becky Lynch. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair joined the party and Becky hit her with a cheap shot. A brawl broke out and Asuka & Belair started arguing. Bianca sent Lynch to the ring apron and Asuka hit her with the Hip Attack to end the segment. Belair will face Asuka next in a singles match.

Belair controlled the match early and connected with a standing Moonsault for a two count. Asuka went for an armbar but Belair broke it up. Belair went for a Powerbomb but both superstars wound up tumbling over the top rope and to the floor. Becky Lynch laughed at them from the announce desk as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Asuka climbed to the top rope and started arguing with Becky Lynch. Bianca Belair capitalized and tripped Asuka up on the turnbuckle. Bianca went for a Superplex but Asuka blocked it. Belair flipped from the middle turnbuckle and landed on her feet but turned around into a Missile Dropkick from The Empress of Tomorrow for a close two count.

Both superstars battled in the corner and the champ took control. Belair lifted Asuka up for the KOD but she escaped with some elbow strikes to the head. Asuka rolled out of the ring and grabbed her knee in pain as Becky mocked her. Belair rolled Asuka into the ring and took some time trash talk with Becky. Asuka hit a knee to the face on Belair for a two count as she got back into the ring.

Asuka went for the Asuka Lock but Belair escaped and backed Asuka to the corner of the ring. Belair slammed Asuka down and went for a Moonsault but Asuka got out of the way. Belair rolled Asuka up for the pinfall victory and Becky attacked right after the match. Becky hit Asuka with an Exploder Suplex and Beliar with the Man-Handle Slam to end the segment.

Bianca Belair will defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch & Asuka this Sunday at Hell in a Cell in a Triple Threat match.

Ezekiel & The Mysterios Picked Up A Win

Ezekiel & The Mysterios battled Kevin Owens & Alpha Academy tonight in a 6-Man Tag Team match.

Rey Mysterio and Chad Gable began the match. Rey beat Gable down in the corner and tagged in Dominik. Gable battled back and connected with a couple of Belly to Belly Suplexes for a two count. Dominik responded with a springboard Armdrag and a brawl broke out. Ezekiel and Alpha Academy sent Otis out of the ring with a couple Dropkicks. Dominik posed on the turnbuckle and Gable shoved him to the floor. Gable launched Dominik into the barricade and posed for the crowd as RAW went to a commercial break.

Ezekiel got the tag when RAW returned and hit Gable with a Dropkick. Ezekiel hit a Splash on Gable and Owens in opposite corners of the ring. He then planted Gable with a Powerbomb but Otis broke up the cover at two. Dominik went for a Crossbody but OTis caught him. Rey hit a Dropkick and knocked Otis out of the ring. Owens sent Dominik out of the ring and went for a Superkick but Rey ducked and he leveled Gable. The Mysterios hit a double 619 on Gable and Ezekliel followed it up with a vertical Suplex for the pinfall victory. Kevin Owens threw a tantrum after the match. Owens will square off against Ezekiel this Sunday at WWE Hell in a Cell.

Cody Rhodes Brawled With Seth Rollins

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes made his way to the ring to close out the first hour of this week’s RAW. Cody said he’s always been a fan of Seth Rollins and saw his potential to do great things. Rhodes stated that Seth Rollins lives up to the hype but is an egomaniac. Cody added that is one of the things that makes him so dangerous and this Sunday will be the biggest challenge of his entire career.

Rhodes said that all the respect he has for him and every ounce of self-control he has will be locked outside of Hell in a Cell. Seth Rollins interrupted and cackled into the microphone from the crowd. Rollins stated that his motivation is quite simple because he doesn’t like Cody Rhodes and doesn’t want him here.

Seth noted that Cody’s pandering got worse over the weeks and he’s tired of the Cody chants. Rollins claimed that Cody wasn’t good enough back in the day, and he and his little friends tried to tear down what he was building here. Rollins added that Cody doesn’t get to take a sledgehammer to the throne, only to try to come to take that throne from him. Seth vowed to prey on Cody’s insecurities and end him at Hell in a Cell. Rollins added “then we can all finally wake up from this American Nightmare” and cackled into the microphone.

Rhodes said that the time for talk is over and challenged Seth to come to the ring for a fight. Rollins started coming down the stairs but stopped at the barricade. Seth laughed and said “I’ll see you Sunday”. Cody hopped the barricade and a fight broke out. Cody tackled Seth through the barricade and unloaded some punches to the face. The brawl continued until security broke it up and a “this is awesome!” chant broke out.

Alexa Bliss def. Doudrop

Alexa Bliss battled Doudrop tonight on RAW and Nikki A.S.H. was ringside for the match. Doudrop dominated early and leveled Bliss with a Clothesline. Bliss hit a knee to the face and a couple Dropkicks to knock Doudrop over. Doudrop shrugged it off and hit Bliss with a Powerslam. Doudrop went for a Senton but Alexa got out of the way.

Doudrop dropped Alexa with a headbutt and dragged her to the cover. She climbed to the middle turnbuckle and went for a Splash but Bliss got out of the way. Alexa climbed to the top rope but Nikki hopped on the apron for a distraction. Alexa booted Nikki off the apron and hit Twisted Bliss for the pinfall victory.

Tozawa Won The 24/7 Championship

The Miz welcomed Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) on Miz TV tonight. Miz promoted his reality show and the season premiere next Monday following RAW. Street Profits poked fun at Miz for a bit before Dana Brooke ran down the ramp with the 24/7 title. Tamina hit Brooke with a Samoan Drop as the rest of the superstars brawled. Tozawa gave Tamina a smooch and then rolled her up to become the new 24/7 Champion.

United States Championship Match Added To Hell In A Cell

Mustafa Ali faced Ciampa tonight on RAW with United States Champion Theory on commentary for the match. If Mustafa won the match, he would get a shot at the US Title. Ciampa dominated the match early and beat Ali down in the corner of the ring. Ali battled back and absolutely leveled Ciampa with a Suicide Dive. Back in the ring, Ali climbed to the top rope but Theory attacked him to end the match in a DQ. Theory attacked and then suggested they have the United States Championship match now.

Theory defended the United States Championship against a weakened Mustafa Ali tonight. Theory bounced Ali’s head off the top turnbuckle and started taunting him. Ali battled back for a moment but Theory put an end to his momentum. Theory hit ATL for the pinfall victory and retained the US Title. Adam Pearce came to the entrance ramp and said that there will be a rematch at Hell in a Cell. Theory later attacked Ali backstage and took a selfie.

Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura Earned A Title Shot Via DQ

Undisputed Tag Team Champions The Usos battled Riddle & Shinsuke Nakamura in a Championship Contender’s match. The Usos isolated Nakamura in the corner to start off the action. Nakamura unloaded some knee strikes and followed it up with a Dropkick. Riddle tagged in and hit Jey with some boots to the chest.

Riddle applied a headlock in the middle of the ring but Jey reached the ropes to break it up. Jimmy tagged in as Jey connected with a Samoan Drop. Jimmy went for the cover but Riddle kicked out at two. Jimmy choked Riddle against the ropes and Jey hit him with a cheap shot. Jey tagged back in and continued to beat Riddle down.

Nakamura and Jimmy Uso tagged in and Shinsuke connected with a leg lariat. Shinsuke unloaded some kicks to Jimmy’s face and followed it up with the sliding German Suplex. Nakamura hopped to the middle turnbuckle and connected with a Dropkick for a two count. Nakamura geared up in the corner but Jey distracted him. Jimmy hit Nakamura with a Superkick and tagged Jey in. Jey connected with the Uso Splash and went for the cover but Riddle broke it up as RAW went to a commercial break.

Riddle tagged in and hit an Exploder Suplex and then a Senton. Riddle went for a DDT but Jey countered into a Back Body Drop that sent Riddle to the outside. Shinsuke Nakamura hit Jey with a Kinshasa out of nowhere but Jimmy broke up the cover at two. Riddle planted Jimmy with a Powerslam and then delivered the DDT to Jey. Jimmy then hit Riddle with his scooter to end the match in DQ. Riddle & Nakamura now have a shot at the titles at a future date. The Usos attacked after the match but Riddle & Nakamura fought them off. Riddle hit an RKO off the top rope on Jey to end the segment.

Liv Morgan def. Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley battled Liv Morgan tonight on RAW. Before the match, it was announced that Judgement Day will battle Liv Morgan, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor in a 6-Person Mixed Tag Team match.

Liv Morgan made her entrance and the match started twenty minutes later after recaps and a Memorial Day tributes. Rhea dominated the match early and slammed Liv Morgan against the barricade as RAW went to a commercial break.

Damian Priest and AJ Styles were ringside for the match. Liv battled back and sent Rhea out of the ring. Morgan climbed to the top rope and connected with a Crossbody on Rhea outside the ring. AJ Styles leveled Damian Priest outside the ring as Liv hit a Backstabber for the pinfall victory. After the match, Finn Balor attacked Damian Priest and Liv leveled Rhea with a Dropkick. Styles hit Priest with the Phenomenal Forearm and Balor followed it up with the Coup de Grace.

Lashley Put Omos Through A Table

Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Omos signed the contract to make their Handicap match official at Hell in a Cell to end tonight’s show. Adam Pearce moderated the signing and security surrounded the ring. MVP said this comes to an end once and for all at Hell in a Cell. Lashley claimed that he never needed MVP and MVP desperately wants to stay relevant. MVP shouted that Lashley turned his back on him and demanded that he sign the contract. Lashley warned Omos and signed the contract.

Lashley then threw the table out of the ring and security separated them. Omos and Lashley cleared security and then Cedric Alexander attacked Bobby from behind. Lashley slammed Cedric down to the mat but Omos caught him with a big boot. MVP got in some punches and told Omos to go get a table from under the ring. Omos set it up in the corner but Lashley put him through it with a Spear to close the show.

MJF & Tony Khan Expected To Address Issues Face-To-Face

Something has got to give in the MJF-AEW saga.

MJF was featured in the opening match of AEW Double or Nothing. He was ultimately squashed by Wardlow, paying off a long-term storyline. In story, the win has allowed Wardlow to sign with AEW.

The status of the match was very touch and go, however before Sunday night.

Maxwell didn’t fulfill his commitment to take part in a meet and greet on Saturday. PWInsider reported that this wasn’t a work and AEW officials attempted to contact him numerous times.

Fightful is now reporting that MJF and Tony Khan are set to have a sitdown meeting as MJF has stayed in Las Vegas despite claiming he quickly left the T-Mobile Arena following his loss to Wardlow.

AEW ran an angle where MJF was stretchered out of the arena at Double or Nothing. PWInsider reported that Maxwell isn’t expected to be on the road with AEW for the next several weeks, possibly longer.

There are many within the industry who believe that the MJF ordeal started as a legit issue but has turned into a work.

Sad Health Update On Don West

0

Former TNA Wrestling commentator Don West is battling cancer for a second time after originally announcing last June that he had been diagnosed with brain lymphoma and he would begin treatment.

Things looked better last September when he announced the cancer was in remission after doing 8 weeks of chemotherapy and 13 treatments of radiation. Unfortunately, in December, it was announced his cancer had returned and he was battling it with chemotherapy.

PWInsider recently reported treatment had not worked as well as expected and now the brain tumor is “twice the size it has been”. West had been exploring stem cell treatment but due to the tumor size doctors are not progressing with those plans.

Impact Wrestling’s Scott D’Amore mentioned this past weekend that he will match 100% of all donations made to West’s GoFundMe Campaign through this Friday. He wrote the following:

“Folks, ?@IMPACTWRESTLING? OG ?@DonWestDeals? is one of the best humans to ever walk this planet. Let’s rally around DW! Any donations made by midnight EST Friday will be matched dollar for dollar. It’s currently at $34,776 so keep me honest.”

We wish him all of the best in fighting this.

NJPW’s Kazuchika Okada is Going to Become a Father

0

Reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada is soon to be adding a new accolade to his name as he is set to become a father later this year.

It was confirmed by Yahoo Sports Japan that Okada and his wife, voice actress Suzuko Mimori, are expecting their first child this August.

Speaking earlier this year, Okada was asked about possibly becoming a parent and said he would not stop his child from wanting to be a wrestler.

“I can’t say anything because it’s a little ahead of the story …” I was allowed to do what I wanted to do, so I don’t think I can say “Pro-wrestling? No.”

Okada on whether he’d allow his child to be a professional wrestler.

Okada captured the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in January 2022 at Wrestle Kingdom 16 (Night One), defeating Shingo Takagi.

On the show’s second night, he retained the title against the returning Will O’Spreay, who had vacated the gold in May 2021 due to a neck injury.

Okada is also a five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and holds the record for the longest reign (his fourth) at 720 days, as well as the record for the most title defenses at 12.

Mimori has worked as a voice actor since 2010 and has worked with several popular franchises including Digimon, Tokyo Ghoul, and Fairy Tail.

We here at SEScoops would live to wish Okada and Mimori our congratulations on their joyous news.

AEW Double Or Nothing Week: Live Fan Experience Recap

0

With Double or Nothing, AEW wrapped up a three-night stand in Las Vegas. Prior to taking over T-Mobile Arena, they’d staged Dynamite and Rampage at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay.

Throughout the three events, AEW offered an experience live that was distinctive from what fans at home saw on TV, including additional content, fan interaction, and a fundamentally different encounter for the live crowd taking in Anarchy in the Arena.

Exclusive Promos Before And After AEW Shows

Each of AEW’s three events in Las Vegas for Double or Nothing week includes some time on the mic before the television product took off. The Acclaimed greeted fans with raps both before Dynamite and Double or Nothing. In addition, Tony Khan got out in front of the live crowd before and after both Dynamite and Rampage. In both cases, Khan expressed his gratitude to the fans and polled who had been in Vegas for the original Double or Nothing PPV, while trying to hype up the audience.

The most memorable promo of all that happened off air came from CM Punk. After winning the AEW Championship, he hung around to express his gratitude to his wife, April Mendez, and express how hard it is to be on the road and wrestle year round. He went on to express an inspirational message that anything worth having is hard, and thanked the fans in attendance as well for making his sacrifices worth it.

Justin Roberts Led The Charge On Fan Interaction

One of the details AEW fans wouldn’t necessarily know about TV tapings from home is the degree of fan interaction that happens before and after shows and during commercial breaks. Ring announcer Justin Roberts led the charge, vamping on the mic and polling the crowd about different matters like who they wanted to see win different

Double or Nothing matches and who was at their first AEW live event.

The TV tapings in particular felt a little more independent in nature, including security letting a child come over the railing to sit on the ring apron for a photo before the show, and Roberts going so far as to announce that his mom was in attendance for her first AEW show. In a heartwarming moment, in between Rampage and extended tapings for AEW Dark, Roberts singled out a fan named Amir out in the arena, asking if he’d dropped something. The cameras put Amir on the big screen as he got down on one knee to propose to his partner.

A Few Oddball Highlights Just For Live AEW Fans

There were a number special, oddball, and otherwise unexpected moments that happened at each of AEW’s events for Double or Nothing week that they did not broadcast. Perhaps the most noteworthy instance came after Double or Nothing went off the fair, before Punk’s promo to the live crowd, as FTR came down to the ring to celebrate his victory with him, complete with putting him up on their shoulders to parade him around the ring. Punk thanked FTR and the fans before his music started to play again. The new champ cut that off, though, saying into the mic that he was going to talk some more, to the amusement of the crowd, before the music stopped and he proceeded with his fuller speech.

Rampage had some unlikely highlights as well. Justin Roberts cited that referee Aubrey’s family was in the crowd, and suggested she should have a match, then booked her into a Rock, Paper, Scissors “Match” with Taz from the broadcast table. Taz had Excalibur coach him through the experience and wound up putting Aubrey over. The final moment of Friday night saw not only Tony Khan, but Bryan Danielson address the crowd, inviting fans to a karaoke event elsewhere at the Mandalay Bay to benefit the local Rescue Mission.

Anarchy In The Arena Could Be Difficult To Follow Live

AEW Double or Nothing’s Anarchy in the Arena match was chaotic by design. While the match has been well received on the whole, it’s noteworthy that the narrative the camera crew and broadcast team cobbled together for viewers at home was quite different from the live experience. With action happening throughout the arena and backstage, live fans were able to see what happened nearby them for a unique spectacle, and of course able to follow what happened in the ring. Fans also missed a fair bit of what was going on, though, left to listen for big reactions from elsewhere in the building and speculate about what might have occurred, or see if there’d be a replay on the big screens.

For all the limitations of the Anarchy in the Arena format, there were also some benefits and shrewd placement of the match on the card. By any measure, Double or Nothing was a long show, and a good portion of the audience was running out of steam by the time Kyle O’Reilly beat Darby Allin. Thunder Rosa vs. Serene Deeb got particularly short shrift from a tired, distracted crowd. Between wild spots and the sheer fact that most fans had to stand up to see any of what was happening, Anarchy in the Arena brought the crowd back to life and helped fans return to their lively, vocal involvement in the final stretch of the show.

All in all, Double or Nothing week delivered live with a unique and entertaining experience for everyone in attendance. Capping it with a world title change and Punk’s engagement with the crowd after the PPV broadcast ended put a fine cap on the three-night run.

Booker T Reacts to Stephanie McMahon’s Leave Of Absence from WWE

0

Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has offered his reaction to Stephanie McMahon deciding to take a leave of absence from WWE.

Earlier this month McMahon, the longtime Chief Branding Officer of WWE, announced she’d be stepping away from her role with the company, opting to spend more time with her family instead.

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”

Now, WWE’s Nick Khan will absorb much of McMahon’s responsibilities, while a replacement will also be sought out as well. In the wake of McMahon’s announcement, there has been a lot of speculation about her exit.

Many suggest that McMahon was frustrating to work with, and there were also questions about her ability to perform the job well.

Taking to his podcast, “The Hall Of Fame,” Booker T offered his take on the situation.

Booker T criticized reports suggesting that McMahon’s decision is nothing more than what it is – a decision to take time off.

He also noted that, had he been in her shoes, he’d have taken some time away a long time ago.

“It just seems like people want to find something controversial to be able to talk about … Her taking time off means nothing other than she’s taking time off.

“Shane McMahon has taken time off several times, he’s always come back. He’s taken more time off. I don’t look at it like most because everybody’s looking for a story.

“And me, like you said, Stephanie has been in the trenches for a long time. To take a break, I think is a break well needed.”

It has certainly been a wild year for McMahon and her family. Her husband, Triple H, dealt with a very serious heart complication that could have been deadly.

Now, with McMahon stepping away, Triple H is back to working full-time for WWE after taking some time off himself.

WWE Raw Superstars Scheduled For June 3 SmackDown

0

It appears that a pair of WWE RAW stars are slated for this week’s SmackDown Live show on June 3.

PWInsider is reporting that AJ Styles and The Miz are penciled in for this weekend’s SmackDown Live from Columbus, Ohio. It’s likely that the pair will only be used for the show’s dark matches.

However, WWE has been using stars from other brands on television, so it’s certainly possible that Styles and Miz could be on the SmackDown broadcast. Last week, RAW star Kevin Owens did a “KO Show” segment on SmackDown.

As of this writing, the only thing scheduled for SmackDown this week is the return of Madcap Moss. Moss was injured by Baron Corbin several weeks ago after being attacked with a steel chair.

Initial reports suggest Moss could be returning with a new look and gimmick. Moss did confirm on Twitter recently that fans will be seeing a new side of him when he returns, likely as he seeks revenge on Corbin.

This will be the final show before Hell In A Cell on Sunday. It’s possible that more RAW stars could appear ahead of the premium event as well.

We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Alexa Bliss Tells Corey Graves “Stay in Your Lane” After WWE Raw Criticism

0

WWE Raw Superstar Alexa Bliss has fired back at Corey Graves’ recent comments about her, telling the commentator to “stay in your lane.”

During last week’s Raw, Bliss faced her former tag-team partner Nikki A.S.H and defeated the Scottish Superstar after Twisted Bliss.

On commentary, Graves said it felt like Bliss was in “cruise control” and lacked urgency.

Responding on Twitter, Bliss didn’t tag Graves but referenced his line in the caption.

Corey Graves on Commentary

Bliss is the latest star to hit out at Graves’ comments, but she’s by far not the only person with an issue with him.

Graves has faced criticism for his comments earlier this month following Sasha Banks and Naomi’s walk-out during the May 16, 2022, episode of Raw.

On the show, he said the pair had acted “unprofessionally,” though fellow commentator Jimmy Smith has defended Graves, saying the former Superstar was told to read the line.

Last December, former NXT on-air talent Alyssa Marino spoke out against Graves’ commentary, claiming he couldn’t focus on the match and was instead “constantly commenting on the appearances of competitors.”

On the October 4, 2021 Raw, Graves called the action for a match between Dana Brooke and Shayna Baszler and had some harsh words for Brooke.

Graves said that Brooke “hasn’t accomplished much of anything” and questioned whether she should ‘cut her losses,’ suggesting that she should leave WWE, if not wrestling altogether.

MJF Speaks Out Following AEW Double or Nothing

MJF has broken his silence following the conclusion of AEW Double or Nothing.

Maxwell was at the center of controversy throughout the weekend. AEW’s top heel failed to show up at a scheduled meet and greet during AEW Fan Fest.

This caused AEW officials to scramble at the last minute and offer refunds and exchanges to fans who paid for the session.

A flight was reportedly booked for MJF to fly out of Las Vegas before DoN but he stayed. The report of the flight booking has since been disputed.

Ultimately, MJF did show up to DoN and did the job for Wardlow in the PPV opener.

What MJF Had To Say

Fightful was able to get in touch with MJF following AEW Double or Nothing. Maxwell said that he showed up just before his match began with Wardlow and immediately left after an angle was shot showing him being stretchered out of T-Mobile Arena.

He told Sean Ross Sapp that he has a lot to think about. He doesn’t know what decision he’ll ultimately make.

PWInsider had reported that MJF isn’t expected to be on the road with AEW for the next several weeks, possibly longer.

MJF’s contract with AEW is set to expire in 2024. It’s been said that Maxwell has had a bit of a strained relationship with Tony Khan as they aren’t as close as they once were.

Tony Khan Says The Length of AEW Double Or Nothing Helped Make The Show A Commercial Success

0

Last night AEW held their annual Double or Nothing pay-per-view from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas Nevada, the promotion’s first major event from Sin City since the inaugural Double or Nothing back in 2019.

Company President Tony Khan spoke with the wrestling media in the post-Double or Nothing scrum, where he touched on a number of different topics, including addressing fan concerns that the event ran too long. It clocked in at around 4 hours and 40 minutes.

Khan begins by admitting that he did add some length to Double or Nothing to help them out commercially as the show was going up against Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

“I ended up adding a little bit to the length of the show to help the show commercially and help the show make money. I think it made, if not a seven-figure difference, at least a six-figure difference.”

On that subject he adds that if not for the stiff competition he may have ended the show a little sooner, which would coincide with the length of previous AEW PPVs.

“I probably would have ended the show the same time they always end. We’ve done a lot of the best pay-per-views anyone’s ever done, they’ve all ended between 11:40 and 11:55-ish, 11:56, 11:57 on the east coast.”

While Khan seems pretty happy with the show length he isn’t opposed to shortening events in the future. He tells the media that fan feedback is important to him, and he will do his best to listen and adjust for the future.

“I will listen to the feedback of the fans. Revolution had pretty good response and commercially the show was really successful, and had similar length bell to bell… But like I said, I’ll listen to the feedback. This was a unique circumstance.”

Double or Nothing saw the crowning of the Owen Hart tournament come to an end, the debuts of Athena and Stokely Hathaway, and CM Punk becoming the promotion’s fifth world champion.

William Regal On Who Talked Him Into Joining AEW

0

William Regal was ready to finally take some time off from wrestling after over three decades following his WWE release, but Bryan Danielson talked him into joining AEW.

The former NXT General Manager recently had an interview with Talk Sport. He discussed things such as the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club and more.

Speaking about his release from WWE, Regal said that he was ready to take a year off to just guide his son. However, Bryan reached out to him about joining AEW:

“I was ready to just have a year off and do nothing but talk with my son and guide him through what he’s doing. And then Bryan called me. And if it hadn’t of been Bryan calling me, I wouldn’t probably be here now. Nobody else would have talked me into this.”

William Regal said that Danielson is like another son to him. He then explained how quickly his AEW deal was put together:

“We have a 22-year relationship, but he is like another son to me. There was just no questions asked. It was to come and do something with Bryan, but they didn’t even tell me what. ‘Course I will, yeah.’ A few days later, I was having conversations with AEW and then two weeks later I was at the pay-per-view,”

Regal was released from his WWE contract in January this year. He made his surprise AEW debut during the Revolution PPV in March. He broke up a fight between Danielson and Jon Moxley and later formed a team with them.
