Mick Foley Reveals Thoughts On Owen Hart Cup Tournament

0

Mick Foley loves the idea of honoring Owen Hart through the ongoing AEW tournament. The wrestling veteran feels that it’s long overdue.

The Hardcore Legend appeared on Throwing Down w/ Renee & Miesha. He talked about things such as the 20th anniversary of Randy Orton’s WWE debut and more.

He was also asked for his thoughts on AEW and the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Mick Foley first joked that they shouldn’t stop themselves from spreading any rumors about him making an appearance. So he can get a lucrative deal similar to Bret Hart.

He then said that the idea of honoring Owen Hart is beautiful:

“Look, I’ll be honest Renee, I don’t watch [AEW] as much as I used to. I catch it when I can. I turn it on. I like what AEW is doing. I love the idea of honoring Owen Hart.

It’s way overdue and I know that it means a lot to people, like those guys [FTR]. The Owen Hart tournament. It’s a beautiful thing.” said Mick Foley, “I think that they should do it every week. This whole forbidden door concept where partners get to wrestle partners. It’s pretty cool.”

The match Mick talked about will be taking place on Dynamite this Wednesday. It will see FTR’s Cash Wheeler going up against his partner Dax Harwood in a qualifying bout for the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Mia Yim On Her Return to Wrestling, Keith Lee Joining AEW

0

Mia Yim made her return to wrestling after two years at WrestleCon Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow on March 31.

SEScoops’ Ella Jay caught up with the “HBIC” to discuss a variety of topics, such as her wrestling return, Keith Lee’s AEW debut, gaming, and more.

You can watch our exclusive interview with Mia Yim below:

Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Her Return to Wrestling

Mia went against Athena on her return to wrestling and came out on top. Mia was asked what she thought about returning to the ring and the outcome of that match.

“I am very happy about the match. It’s been years since I’ve wrestled Athena and it’s also been over a year since I had my last match anyway, so it was a lot of mental blocks in my head because, you know, I wasn’t in a good mental space. So, getting into this match with a friend, and having her help me through it, kind of gave me back that confidence that I lost. So, the match was good, you know, I got to win, but aside from that, I feel like I’m slowly becoming myself again.”

It was a very emotional moment for Mia to come back to wrestling and win her first match. She clarified a while back that due to her recent wedding and move, she decided to handle everything at home first.

Mia promised us that we can expect her to see in the ring as much as she can be, and she also told us that she will meet everyone that she missed out on the last few years.

Keith Lee in AEW

Keith Lee AEW Entrance

Mia Yim’s husband, Keith Lee, was released from his WWE contract in November 2021. He made his debut in All Elite Wrestling on the February 9 episode of AEW Dynamite after radio silence on his next venture. Mia was asked how hard it was for her to keep Keith’s AEW a secret.

“Very hard, because of course, he doesn’t tell anybody anything. So, everyone’s coming to me and it’s like, what? I don’t know what you’re talking about. So, I don’t know. People always think they could get scoops from me and especially with Keith it’s like, that’s his business. Don’t come to me with that.”

Keith Lee made his surprise AEW debut to a massive crowd reaction. Fans in the arena were ecstatic to see “The Limitless” walk down the ramp towards the ring to face Isiah Kassidy. Keith won the match and went on to qualify for the “Face of the Revolution” ladder match at Revolution. Mia said watching this moment made her feel really proud.

“I was so proud. I knew it. I knew the reaction he was going to get was going to be authentic and loud, but just to see it as it was happening gave me the chills. And I was like, this is what he deserves.”

Disney Wedding

Keith Lee Mia Yim Wedding

After being engaged for a year, Mia Yim and Keith Lee got married in February of this year. The couple tied the knot after spending several years together with a Disney-themed wedding. Mia described her wedding as a perfect day.

“Keith was able to give me my dream wedding of a Disney wedding. It was just having Mickey and Minnie there, having the carriage, it was picture perfect. Just marrying my best friend, the love of my life, that was something years ago that I never—like, I quit dreaming of because I never thought I was gonna get married or find ‘the one’. He came out of nowhere and it was just a perfect day having all of our friends and family under one roof, people I haven’t seen in years. It was just such a perfect day.”

Their wedding also had a Star Wars cake, as according to Mia, Star Wars is the only thing Keith loves about Disney. Mia isn’t a fan, but she described how the cake had a custom topper with the couple dressed as Star Wars characters.

“So, Keith is a big Star Wars person That’s the only Disney thing that he loves. I don’t care about Star Wars, but our cake. I got a custom cake topper that had me and him as—what the hell was I—he was Darth Vader and I was a Stormtrooper or whatever. Shana [Baszler] and the girls love Star Wars so all of their entrance music, like coming out to the ceremony and the reception was all Star Wars soundtrack.”

Gaming & Twitch Streaming

Aside from wrestling, Mia also plays video games on her Twitch and YouTube channel. Mia was asked what is the most difficult video game she has played, like ever. The frustration on Mia’s face was clear as she recalled struggling with Elden Ring and Sifu.

“Oh my God, I think right now, it’s Eldin Ring when I don’t have Jay Duke, helping me—or Sifu. Sifu is a rage-inducing game and I’m pissed off just thinking about it.”

Mia Yim doesn’t quit any game in rage, instead, she decides to not stop until she can beat a frustrating game. Admittedly, Mia did have to stop herself from breaking the controller a few times.

Memories of Wrestling in Texas

WrestleCon took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Mia was asked what her favorite memories from the state are.

“I just moved here. So, moving is not a favorite because I miss Orlando and it was a long drive. I haven’t had any—The favorite moment I have here in Dallas, is buying my first house with Keith and actually settling down. That’s a favorite memory thus far but there are going to be plenty more memories to make. We just moved like a month ago, so. [laughs]”

The “Head Baddie In Charge” was asked if she would like to have her own posse, who would she pick to be part of the group with her as the leader. She quickly answered the BRE—which stands for “The Best Roommates Ever” and includes Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Dakota Kai.

Lashley vs. Omos Rematch Set for WrestleMania Backlash

0

WWE has announced yet another rematch for the WrestleMania Backlash PPV. They have confirmed that Bobby Lashley will be competing against Omos once again at the upcoming show.

The All-Mighty had been challenged for an arm-wrestling match by the giant on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN.

Lashley won this match but Omos attacked him afterward. The former Raw underground star was being instructed by MVP.

Both MVP and his new client were interviewed by Kevin Patrick backstage later in the show. The former US champion said that Bobby failed to see how the arm-wrestling match was a contest about brains and not brawn.

He went on to reveal that Omos is challenging the former WWE champion to a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash premium live event.

While Bobby Lashley did not appear on the show again, WWE confirmed during Raw Talk that this Mania rematch will be taking place at the upcoming show.

WrestleMania Backlash will be taking place from the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday, May 8.

Cody Rhodes Reacts To Randy Orton Reunion On Raw

0

WWE celebrated 20 years of Randy Orton’s debut on this week’s episode of Raw. The show also saw a reunion between him and Cody Rhodes.

The two former Legacy members reunited during the opening segment of the episode. Riddle introduced the American Nightmare before they were interrupted by Seth Rollins.

Rhodes later teamed up with RK Bro and Ezekiel in the main event of the red branded show. These four defeated Kevin Owens, Rollins & The Usos in an 8-men tag match.

The former AEW star took on his social media after Raw went off air to reflect on this Legacy reunion. Cody Rhodes shared a photo on Instagram and thanked Randy Orton for mentoring him in his early career:

“Randy Orton took me under his wing; perhaps begrudgingly or not, but he did it sincerely. Up in the stands earlier in the day, in the car, in the locker room, on the apron…constantly delivering wisdom and functional advice, and it came from a place of experience and wasn’t just rhetoric.

His passion for our sport is aggressive. Loud and proud. Did it his way and in the process entertained millions. Thank you.”

Apart from this Cody Rhodes – Randy Orton reunion, the Raw episode also featured 2 big returns and 6 matches. You can check out the complete Raw results here.

Ronda Rousey: ‘I Don’t Really Need To Know What People Think About My Work’

0

Ronda Rousey has expressed some controversial opinions about fans in the past. The hate she has received online has caused her to be resentful toward the audience. Though it appears that she has learned her lesson. Ronda now only cares about the reaction she receives from the live audience.

The former Raw women’s champion was a guest on Wives Of Wrestling podcast. She was asked how she goes about receiving feedback on her work. Replying to it, Ronda explained why she doesn’t really need to know what people think:

“I don’t really need to know what people think about my work. It’s kind of like if you go to an art gallery and there’s like the artists there like, ‘I threw this pain at this fucking thing.’ They don’t want to stand there and explain to them what their paint splat means.” said Ronda Rousey, “They don’t care what other people think of their paint splat.

They were feeling a thing and splatter their paint. It’s there for you to make of it what you will. I don’t think really how it’s perceived matters too much. I guess the feedback I get is like a live audience. There’s a lot of times when what you think is coming online and what the live audience is expressing are two opposite things.”

Ronda Rousey: ‘The Internet Is Not A Good Sample’

Ronda Rousey then gave the example of her Royal Rumble return earlier this year. She mentioned how the online reaction led her to believe that she would be booed upon her comeback. This made the former UFC star realize that the online world is not a good sample of what people think about her:

“Case in point Royal Rumble, I left as a heel, and was getting booed out of every stadium. I was like, ‘okay.’ That’s what I assumed everyone thought. I was still a heel and any interviews I gave in anytime I was talking shit of the fans being in character for in case I come back. That’s what I assumed I would come back to. When it ended up being not that reaction. I was really, really surprised.

I was almost too guarded to let them make me happy in that moment. You know what I mean? But I don’t know if I would have thought otherwise by looking at comments or anything else. So whatever the live audience is leaving you with is what I’m assuming what people feel like in general because the internet is not a good sample.”

Tommaso Ciampa The Latest WWE Superstar To Undergo Name Change

0

It appears Tommaso Ciampa is the latest superstar to go through a name change on WWE’s main roster.

Ciampa had his last NXT match at Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend. He ended up losing to Tony D’Angelo. After the match, Triple H made his way out to give him a proper send-off.

Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa appeared on the April 11 edition of Raw and it appeared all was normal. As it turns out, it only took two weeks for WWE to give him the one name treatment.

Kevin Raphael of TVA Sports in Quebec was the first to report the change.

WWE seemingly confirmed the reports by simply referring to Tommaso as “Ciampa” on the April 25 episode of Raw. Ciampa attacked the returning Mustafa Ali.

Mustafa Ali Returns On WWE Raw

0

Despite publicly asking for his WWE release, Mustafa Ali made his return to TV on Monday’s episode of Raw when he interrupted a Miz TV segment that featured Theory. He is now a babyface.

He traded words with Miz and said if he wanted to laugh then he would watch Miz wrestle. Theory and Miz made fun of Ali for taking his ball and going home. Miz wondered if he still “worked here.” Miz said that he was going to make Ali wish he got his walking papers. This led to a match between Ali and The Miz.

Ali hadn’t been seen on WWE television since early November. WWE did have plans for him to start a “New America” storyline where Ali talked about being stereotyped, but the angle was scrapped. It was later reported that something was pitched to him that he was adamant about not wanting to do. As a result, it led to him having a heated argument with Vince McMahon.

Ali stated on the day of this year’s WWE Royal Rumble in January that he didn’t want to be in the Men’s Royal Rumble match before doubling down on wanting his release from the company, indicating the company tried to bring him back for the bout.

WWE reportedly didn’t intend to grant him his release. In various reports, WWE had used the term “value” as the reasoning behind keeping Ali under contract.

Asuka Returns From Injury On WWE Raw, Starts New Program

0

Asuka made her return from being on the sidelines on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw. It happened when Becky Lynch was cutting a promo about losing the Raw Women’s Title to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38. This marked her first appearance on WWE TV since that match.

Lynch talked about vacating the title 3 years ago and she doesn’t know who she is without the title. Lynch said that she’s hit rock bottom but views this is the start of a legendary comeback and she reminded everyone that she’s still a heel when she insulted the fans.

Asuka came out to the ring and said that she would stop Lynch because “nobody is ready for Asuka.” Ironically, Asuka was the star who was awarded the Raw Women’s Title in 2020 after it was vacated by Lynch due to her pregnancy

Asuka was last seen in action when she worked last year’s Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match that was won by Nikki ASH, who later cashed on to win the Raw Women’s Title.

In January, there were rumors about her returning during the Royal Rumble but that didn’t happen. Asuka was medically cleared last month after recovering from shoulder surgery.

Orton Celebration, 8-Man Tag Team Match Announced For Tonight

RAW Tag Team Champion Riddle was in the ring to begin the show and rolled highlights of Randy Orton’s WWE career. Riddle introduced Orton and he said it has been a hell of a journey with a lot of ups and downs. Orton added that he hopes the crowd isn’t getting sick of him because he’s not going anywhere for a long time. Randy brought up Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and added that it is because of Mick Foley that he’s even here right now.

Randy claimed that he’s having more fun than he’s ever had in his career, told Riddle he loved him and RK-Bro shared a hug. The crowd broke out in a loud “RK-Bro!” chant and Orton thanked the crowd for their support over the years. Riddle then introduced Cody Rhodes and he made his way to the ring.

Cody Rhodes shared a hug with Orton and Seth Rollins showed up in an absurd green jumpsuit. Rollins circled behind the rest of the superstars surrounding the ring while shouting that that Orton shouldn’t trust Orton. Seth added that Cody was trying to steal the spotlight and not everything is about Cody.

Rollins told Orton that his best years are behind him and that he is not the present or the future of WWE. Seth claimed that the next generation of superstars are not going to be inspired by a Viper, a bro, or a nightmare, they will be inspired by a visionary. Ezekiel interrupted and got in the ring.

Ezekiel said he was Elias’ younger brother and shook Orton’s hand. Ezekiel complimented Orton for dominating as the legend killer. Kevin Owens entered through the crowd and shouted that Ezekiel is lying and he is Elias. Owens got in the ring and called Ezekiel a disgusting piece of trash. Owens rambled that he’s the only one that is still sane around here.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos joined the party and vowed to win the Tag Team Championship Winner’s Take all match at WrestleMania Backlash. Adam Pearce interrupted and announced that Owens, Rollins, The Usos will face RK-Bro, Ezekiel, and Cody Rhodes in the main event in an 8-man tag team match. A brawl broke out with the faces clearing the ring to end the opening segment.

Bianca Belair Retained The RAW Women’s Championship

Bianca Belair defended the RAW Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville in the first match of the night. Kane gave Belair some words of encouragement backstage before the match. Sonya Deville made her entrance during the commercial break.

Belair connected with a shoulder tackle and Sonya rolled out of the ring. Deville dragged Bianca out of the ring and bounced her face off the ring apron. Belair responded by launching Deville over the announce table and posed in the ring. Deville lost the match via count out but demanded that the match be restarted. Belair attacked and sent Deville into the timekeeper’s area. Deville then bashed Bianca with the chair and restarted the match again with No DQ.

Deville waved Carmella and Queen Zelina down to the ring as RAW went to a break. The three superstars had Belair trapped in the corner when RAW returned. Deville planted Bianca with a DDT on top of a chair for a two count. Zelina set up a chair in the corner but Belair end Sonya flying into it. Belair booted Carmella and Vega off the apron before planting Deville with the KOD for the pinfall victory. Bianca Belair is still the RAW Women’s Champion. Deville slapped Vega and Carmella backstage after the match.

Edge & Damian Priest Warned AJ Styles & Finn Balor

Edge cut a promo from his black throne with Damian Priest standing behind him. Edge said that they look down on everyone from their mountain of omnipitence and are better than everyone. Edge poked fun at the crowd for supporting the local teams and Kane as mayor. He turned his attention to AJ Styles and noted that he didn’t hit his Phenomenal Forearm at WrestleMania. Edge claimed that the attack last week was because he doesn’t believe he can hit the move with one arm and said that Styles should stay home with his family instead of facing him at WrestleMania Backlash. Damian Priest closed the promo by saying that Finn Balor’s judgement day has arrived.

Veer Mahaan Dominated

Veer Mahaan marched down to the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. Mahaan faced “Sam Smothers” tonight and hit him with a big boot. Mahaan followed it up with a Splash in the corner, a Clothesline and the Camel Clutch for the submission victory. Veer beat Smothers down some more after the match and slammed him on top of the announce table. Mahaan then locked in the submission hold again on the table until WWE officials broke it up.

Omos Attacked Lashley After Losing The Arm-Wrestling Contest

Omos faced Bobby Lashley in an arm-wrestling competition tonight. MVP accompanied Omos to the ring. MVP said that Lashley’s ego made him believe that it was okay to go to WrestleMania without him. MVP claimed that Omos is a superior athlete and it was foolish of Bobby to accept this challenge for an arm-wrestling contest. He called the crowd “simpletons” for relentlessly chanting “what?!” before Lashley interrupted.

The All Mighty came to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Omos got the advantage early in the contest as MVP mocked Lashley on the microphone. Lashley got angry and wound up winning the arm-wrestling contest. Omos attacked Lashley and smashed the table into his midsection.

Tozawa & Tamina Picked Up A Win

Akira Tozawa & Tamina faced Reggie & 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke. Tozawa and Reggie started off the action. Tozawa got in some offense and kept trying to impress Tamina. Tozawa hit a Splash for the pinfall victrory. After the match, special referee R-Truth tried to roll up Dana but she kicked out at retained the 24/7 Championship.

Asuka Returned & Interrupted Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch returned and angrily walked to the ring as RAW went to a commercail break.

Lynch stood silently for a bit before saying it has been three years since she walked down the ramp without her title. Becky claimed that she has grown so accustomed to looking into the mirror and seing a champion that she doesn’t recognize herself anymore. Becky claimed that she has hit rock bottom but got excited and said “that means there is nowhere else to go but up”.

Becky said she is going to shoot into heights unknown and made “pew pew” sound effects into the microphone. Lynch had a crazed look in her eye as she said she will become champion again and nobody will be able to stop her. Asuka’s music hit and The Empress of Tomorrow returned to a great pop from the crowd.

Asuka grabbed a microphone and danced around the ring a bit as the crowd chanted her name. Asuka said “I will stop you because no one is ready for Asuka”. Asuka gave Becky a nose poke and laughed. Lynch got annoyed went to attack but Asuka was ready. Becky quickly retreated out of the ring to end the segment.

Damian Priest def. Finn Balor

Damian Priest faced Finn Balor tonight. Edge watched the match from his throne on the entrance ramp. Priest sent Balor to the corner and unloaded some strikes. Balor battled back and knocked Damian to the outside. Damian hit a Razor’s Edge onto the ring apron as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Damian Priest continued to dominate and hit the Reckoning for the pinfall victory as Edge looked on. Priest kneeled before Edge and then posed in front of him after the match.

Ciampa Attacked Mustafa Ali

The Miz welcomed United States Champion Theory as his guest on Miz TV to begin the final hour of this week’s RAW. The crowd gave Theory the “what?” treatment and he told them to shut up. Theory complimented Miz on his accomplishments and vowed to prove that he’s the best investment that Mr. McMahon has ever made.

The crowd booed and Miz demanded that they show Theory respect. Theory claimed that he was going to take the US Championship to new heights and he’s going to be remembered as THE United States Champion. Miz stated that everyone in the locker room is a parasite and that nobody can just come to the ring and demand a title match.

Mustafa Ali returned to RAW and made his way to the ring. The crowd chanted “welcome back!” and Miz joked “do you still work here?”. Theory added “aren’t you the guy that took his ball and went home?”. The Miz joked that he’s Mufasa, Mustafa Ali’s younger brother. Ali said that all he needs to do is watch Miz wrestle if he wants to laugh.

Ali said he was hoping that Theory would issue an Open Challenge so that he could answer it. Theory declined and Ali called him “all biceps and no balls”. Ali added that he’s running away like The Miz and Theory said that Miz doesn’t run away from a fight. Miz responded that he doesn’t have a magic want to make matches and Theory interrupted. Theory said he just got a text from Adam Pearce and Miz is facing Mustafa Ali next.

The Miz controlled the action early and got Ali in a Headlock in the middle of the ring. Mustafa escaped but Miz caught him with a boot to the face. Miz went back to the Headlock as the crowd got behind Ali. Mustafa battled to his feet and broke the hold with some chops to Miz’s chest. Miz caught Ali with a knee to the midsection and followed it up with a kick to the face for a two count.

Miz sent Ali into the turnbuckle and unloaded some punches to the face. The Miz followed it up with some It Kicks but Ali kept getting back up. Miz missed with a kick and Ali caught him with a roundhouse kick of his own. Ali connected with a Dropkick and then a Neckbreaker for a near fall. Miz responded with a DDT and went for the cover but Ali was able to kick out at two and the match continued.

Ali perched Miz up on the top turnbuckle and joined him up there. Miz shoved him down and hit a Dropkick to the knee. Miz went for the Figure Four but Ali countered into a roll-up for the pinfall victory. After the match, Ciampa attacked Ali on the entrance ramp.

RK-Bro, Ezekiel, and Cody Rhodes Picked Up A Win

Rhea Ripley was set to be interviewed backstage but Liv Morgan attacked her and WWE officials quickly broke it up.

The Usos, Kevin Owens, and Seth Rollins then battled RK-Bro, Ezekiel, and Cody Rhodes in an 8-man tag team match. Cody Rhodes made his entrance as RAW went to a break. Before the match, The Usos told Owens & Rollins that they better get the win or the Tribal Chief will be angry.

Ezekiel went right after Owens to start off the match. Rhodes, Ezekiel, and RK-Bro knocked Owens, Rollins, and The Usos out of the ring as RAW went to another break. Jimmy Uso and Ezekiel started off the action. Ezekiel took control and tagged Riddle in. Riddle unloaded a boot to the chest and tagged in Orton.

Riddle used Orton as a springboard for a Floating Bro and Orton followed it up with some stomps to Jimmy. Cody Rhodes tagged in and beat Jimmy down in the corner. Rhodes stomped Jimmy down to the mat and then planted him with a Suplex. Rollins got in the ring for a cheap shot but Cody shrugged it off.

Jey Uso tagged in and planted Cody with a Samoan Drop. Jey trapped Cody in the corner for a bit and tagged in Jimmy. The Usos choked Cody against the ropes until the referee broke it up. Kevin Owens got in a cheap shot while the referee was distracted and The Usos kept Cody trapped in the corner.

Seth Rollins asked for a tag and went for a Splash but Cody got out of the way. Cody started crawling towards the corner but Rollins booted Randy Orton off the apron. Ezekiel got the tag and hit Rollins with a big Spinebuster for a two count. Ezekiel shouted “who wants to hear Zeke speak?!” and Owens responded “nobody wants to hear you speak. you are in the ring”. Riddle tagged in and elbowed Seth in the face and climbed to the top rope. Uso tripped Riddle up and Rollins capitalized with a reverse Superplex as RAW went to the final commercial break of the night.

When RAW returned, Riddle was trapped in the ring as The Usos took turns beating him down. Riddle hit Jimmy Uso with the Ripcord Knee and both superstars fell to the mat. Seth dragged Orton off the apron and Riddle had nobody to tag. Kevin Owens tagged in and connected with a Senton on Riddle for a near fall.

Jey hit an Enziguri and Riddle stumbled to the corner. Randy Orton tagged in and connected with a couple Powerslams. Randy bashed Seth and Kevin Owens off the apron before slamming Jey on top of the announce table. Orton did the same to Rollins and then to Owens.

Back in the ring, Orton hit the draping DDT as Corey Graves said “vintage Orton!”. Randy set up for the RKO but Rollins broke it up. Cody booted Rollins in the face and Orton followed it up with an RKO. Owens hit Cody with a Superkick but turned around into an RKO from Orton. Randy delivered another RKO to both Usos for the pinfall victory.

Kane Backstage At Raw, Will He Make An Appearance?

0

Could Kane be back on your TV screen tonight (April 25)?

Fightful Select is reporting that Kane is backstage for Raw in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is the Mayor of Knox County, so he didn’t have to travel very far.

The report notes that Kane is scheduled to appear on the show in some form. One pitch was for Kane to appear in a segment with Kevin Owens and Ezekiel.

This week’s Raw figures to be a noteworthy one. Fightful Select reported late this past weekend that Asuka is scheduled to be on the show to start a feud with Becky Lynch. There was also a pitch for Mustafa Ali to make his return.

Kevin Owens Explains Why He Didn’t Want to Be Like Dolph Ziggler When Joining WWE

0

When Kevin Owens first joined WWE, he knew right away he did not want to end up like Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler has accomplished quite a bit under the WWE’s banner; including two World Heavyweight Title wins, six Intercontinental Title runs, two United States Title victories, a Money In The Bank ladder match win, and so much more. However, despite all his accolades, Ziggler, along with many others, believe he was underutilized.

Upon joining WWE in 2014, Owens spotted how frustrated Ziggler was with his position in the company, and knew immediately he did not want to end up in the same boat. “KO” explained during a recent interview with Corey Graves on “WWE After The Bell.”

“He’s a guy I respect a ton, and I don’t think I’ve ever told him this but he’s one of the guys that I would look at and be like, ‘I don’t want to be like Dolph,’” Owens said. “In the sense that he’s so good and I would see him so frustrated because he’s so good and he feels like he should be doing more, and he was right.

“I remember thinking, man, I don’t want to be like that. This was when I was first [in WWE] in 2014-15, I was like, I don’t want to be like that, I want to come to work and I don’t want to be frustrated all the time.

Owens went on to explain that he’s not a fan of the “you’re in the wrong business” line, finding it too cliche. Instead, he believes some people just have different perspectives, and with enough hard work and persistence, it will all pay off. It certainly did for Ziggler, who found himself winning the NXT Championship not too long ago.

“But guess what, when you’re passionate and hungry and know you’re good, which is what he is, it’s inevitable. It’s going to happen to everybody.

“If you don’t go through that at one point, I’m not going to say you’re in the wrong business because that’s cliche and I don’t believe that, maybe you just have a different perspective, but the hunger to do more and to be able to contribute to the show as much as you think you should or could, that’s normal.

“But it’s important to eventually find that perspective to enjoy it because that’s my thing. I was like, man, Dolph never really seems to enjoy himself. And then that shifted, I’ve seen him now completely differently.”

Ziggler eventually dropped the NXT Championship the night after WrestleMania 38 on Monday Night RAW. He hasn’t wrestled a match on TV since. As for Owens, he’s coming hot off an epic No Holds Barred match with WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania.

Owens welcomed Austin back to the ring for the first time in over 19 years. Now, after suffering a loss to “The Texas Rattlesnake,” Kevin Owens is in the midst of a program with Elias’ new persona, Ezekiel.

Another Olympic Gold Medalist Hopes to Join WWE

0

Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock is waiting for WWE to offer her a contract.

Mensah-Stock made history last year by winning a gold medal in women’s freestyle wrestling (68kg) at the 2020 Summer Olympic games from Tokyo, Japan.

WWE fans might remember she and Gable Steveson made a surprise in-ring appearance at SummerSlam.

Steveson has since signed a WWE contract and is seen by many as having the potential to be “the next Kurt Angle.”

According to Mensah-Stock, she’s also interested in following in the footsteps of Kurt Angle (and Gable Steveson, for that matter).

Twitter user @TeeExTee asked Mensah-Stock when WWE is going to offer her a contract. She replied and said she’s been wondering that same thing herself.

WWE has a long history of collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes crossing over to the world of sports entertainment. We’ll see if Tamyra Mensah-Stock is a future WWE Superstar, but now we know she’s up for it.

Eric Bischoff: I’ll Never Be Invited to AEW Again

0

Eric Bischoff is not expecting to be invited back to an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) show anytime soon.

The former WCW president has been honest in his assessment of AEW in recent weeks, irking AEW president Tony Khan and causing a riff in the pair’s relationship. Bischoff has argued that the product has “flatlined” ratings-wise and doesn’t think the promotion is focusing enough on storytelling.

Also, Bischoff added that their lack of growth has resulted in an an equal lack of licensing deals. Speaking on the MackMania podcast, Bischoff dove deeper in to his comments and the repercussions they may have had in regards to his relationship with AEW.

Bischoff noted he’s sure he wont’ be invited to an AEW show again, and he’s actually a little sad about that.

“I have been beating this drum, and this is one of the reasons why Tony probably thinks I am a pain in his ass at this point. I’ll never get invited to another AEW event, which is okay.

“I am a little sad about that, but I get it, I don’t take it personally,” Eric Bischoff said. “But I’ve been saying for over a year now when it comes to AEW. And this is why I am concerned about their dirt sheet booking approach, booking for the internet if you will. Is that if you’re not growing, you’re dying.”

In regards to Khan and AEW, they have certainly been keeping busy as of late. With massive signings such as CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Adam Cole, and more, AEW has assembled, arguably, the best roster in professional wrestling.

It was also recently announced that AEW will team up with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for the AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view (PPV). Both promotions will bring their respective rosters together for a massive event that will see a promotion vs. promotion-like showcase take center stage.

AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door goes down live on PPV from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on Jun 26, 2022.

Bully Ray, Mark Henry Want Charlotte Flair Wrestling Men

0

Recently, Ray and Henry took to Busted Open Radio to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics, including the current feud between Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is so good that WWE Hall Of Famers Bully Ray and Mark Henry want her to wrestle men.

Flair successfully retained her title against Rousey at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. Now, they’ll run things back in an “I Quit” match at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8.

In the build-up to the bout, Flair actually put Drew Gulak in the Figure Eight, forcing him to yell “I Quit” several times. Ray and Henry both loved the segment, and it even generated some interest in them wanting to see “The Queen” work against men in the ring.

Henry went as far as saying that Charlotte Flair has the potential to eclipse her father, two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair.

“She has the potential to eclipse Ric if she’s allowed to wrestle men and have a run doing that and then going back to women’s wrestling and being the ultimate heel, like, ‘I left y’all because y’all beneath me.’

“That can be, you know, another 10 years of her dominance that can make people only think that when you hear the name ‘Flair’ that you think Charlotte.”

As for Ray, he agrees that Flair should be working against men as well, and even suggested she put more men in the Figure Eight heading into WrestleMania Backlash to build up the submission hold.

“I love the fact that she put the figure eight on a man [Drew Gulak] last night. I want Charlotte to wrestle men. As the matter of fact moving into this match, you know, put the figure eight on two more guys, three more guys, have guys tapping out left and right.”

Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey will compete for the SmackDown Live Women’s Title at WrestleMania Backlash in an “I Quit” match from the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on May 8, 2022.

Vince McMahon Looking To Shake Things Up With Main Roster (Report)

0

It appears WWE is looking to freshen things up with its main roster.

Some fans were taken aback by the return of Xia Li on the April 22 episode of SmackDown. Li hadn’t been seen for months on WWE TV since being established as a babyface. All of a sudden, she is now presented as a heel.

Li’s turn could be a sign of things to come.

Vince McMahon Changing Roles For Several Superstars

A report from WrestlingNews.co notes that Vince McMahon believes that many main roster talents are “miscast.” As a result, the plan is for more babyface and heel turns to take place in the coming weeks.

WWE has a reputation for starting plans and not following through. Stephanie McMahon even admitted this once and said WWE has the ability to “pivot on the fly.” She has also insisted that the company listens to its fans.

Who do you think will be changing roles in the coming weeks?

Ronda Rousey on Her Inexperience: “I’m a Smoke and Mirrors Bitch”

0

Rousey made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 back in 2018. Since then, she’s held the Raw Women’s Championship, main-evented a WrestleMania and won this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble. Despite these achievements, Rousey says she’s no veteran and is still learning the ropes.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet was a guest on the latest episode of the Wives of Wrestling podcast. The show stars Kim Orton, Giovanna Angle and is hosted by Jon Alba.

Rousey admitted that she struggles with remembering what she’s supposed to do during her matches.

“Remembering it is hard,” said Rousey. “I’m not a seasoned veteran or anything. This past Mania, I was like, ‘I don’t have this down at all.’ We’re about to go out there and I’m like, ‘Uhh, I don’t know all this match yet.'”

Relying on Others

Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38

Luckily, Rousey is not in the ring alone. She said she relies on “cues” from other people (her opponent, the referee) when she gets lost in a match. She’s worked with some of WWE’s premiere talent, who have helped guide her so far.

“I’m very much dependent on who I’m in there with to make the match itself and guide me when I’m out there,” she continued. “I’m a smoke and mirrors bitch. I’ve only had a year and a half of experience and people forget that a lot. I’ll get thrown in these situations where I need to get reps in and need to know what this is.”

Rousey says she will often turn to her opponents, who have more experience than her, and allow them to guide the matches.

Whether it’s been Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks or Nia Jax, Rousey is grateful that she’s been able to lean on some very talented people.

“It’s really cool learning from every opponent that I have, the different ways they put matches together and the different things they go for and different styles and how I’m able to fit in what their idea is.”

Rousey is currently the #1 contender to the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She came up short against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38, but they’ll run it back in an “I Quit” match next month at WrestleMania Backlash.

John Cena Has Advice and a Warning for Theory

0

John Cena has some words of advice for WWE’s new United States Champion, Theory.

Over the weekend, Theory posted a video on social media of himself taunting a young fan at ringside who was dressed up like Cena.

Theory pointed to the belt once worn by Cena and said, “That makes me better than John Cena!”

To make matters worse, the arrogant champion tagged Cena in the video and used it to wish him a Happy Birthday. Cena turned 45 on Saturday.

John Cena’s Warning for Theory

It’s been said that Vince McMahon sees Theory as a main event player. Some have even touted Theory as, “The Next John Cena.”

On Monday, Cena replied to Theory’s video with a sobering message. He acknowledges that Theory has the gifts to be a bigger star than he ever was. However, it takes a lot more than “potential” to become immortal.

“Everyone understands that you have far more talent, strength, and gifts than I ever had. Don’t apologize for that. Ever,” said Cena.

“An apology should come 20 years from now if you fail to provide the EFFORT needed to turn your potential into your legacy. I hope that day never comes.”

Tammy Sytch Defiant After Recent Fatal Car Accident

0

WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch (Sunny) is speaking out about her latest automobile incident that resulted in the death of one driver.

Sytch was involved in a three-car crash in Ormond Beach, Florida on March 25, 2022.

The Ormond Beach Police issued a statement noting that Sytch allegedly crashed into a stopped vehicle, which collided with the vehicle in front of it.

“Our hearts go out to the Lasseter family that lost their loved one in such a tragic event. Our goal at the Ormond Beach Police Department is to keep city roadways safe, so if you see a vehicle operating in a manner that leads you to believe the driver may be impaired, please don’t hesitate to call 911. You may just save someone’s life.”

Julian Lafrancis Lasseter, the driver allegedly hit by Sunny, was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center but was pronounced dead.

The estate of Julian L. Lasseter filed a lawsuit against Sytch (and her boyfriend, James F. Pente) on April 12th.The lawsuit alleges that Sytch was intoxicated and “negligently operated or maintained her motor vehicle” which led to the accident.

Tammy Sytch Admits No Fault

Sytch claims she was not intoxicated at the time of the fatal accident, but actually suffered a seizure while driving.

A fan on Twitter asked Sytch how fast she was driving and if she was impaired.

She claims she was driving 10 miles per hour, the victim died of a heart attack and she had suffered a seizure.

Sytch also addressed addressed all the negativity she’s received on social media since the accident. “QUESTION FOR ALL: why follow me (and others) just to write nasty comments and derogatory remarks? Is your life that fucking boring?? Can’t you think of something to do? Like assemble LEGOS?? or dress like Star Wars characters? Doesn’t it show your insecurities ??”

WWE Legend: “I Think They’re Intentionally Trying to Piss You Off”

0

WWE’s decision to have Theory defeat Finn Balor for the United States Championship was an effort to intentionally anger fans, according to Mark Henry.

Henry is a broadcaster, coach and talent scout for AEW. The World’s Strongest Man is also works as a host of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM.

On the latest episode of Busted Open, Henry addressed Theory winning the US title and Finn Balor’s underwhelming year. Balor won the belt from Damien Priest back in February. The 49-title reign was unremarkable and Balor wasn’t even booked for WrestleMania. Balor dropped the US title to Theory last week on Raw.

WWE Booking Theory as a Heel

Mark Henry says WWE knows exactly what they’re doing with Theory, even though Finn Balor hasn’t exactly been protected since returning to the main roster.

“You know what, you’ve got to break a few eggs to make an omelet,” said Henry. “I think they’re intentionally trying to piss you off, putting the edge on Theory. It is what it is, I didn’t look negatively at it at all.”

“You’ve got to let him piss you off, because that’s how we’ve seen it,” Henry added.

WWE sees Theory as a big star. Putting him over a veteran like Finn Balor helps unite fans against him and elevates Theory as a heel.

Balor has an established (earned) fanbase and a decorated career of achievements. However, it is important to factor in WWE’s longterm plans. Balor is 40 years old, while Theory is only 24. Balor losing to an upstart like Theory upsets some fans, but it’s understandable to use “the present” to elevate “the future.”

Discussion: Hit up the comments section and tell us what you think about Theory so far. Do you see him as a future star for WWE? Was it the right move to sacrifice Balor to benefit Theory?

Randy Orton On His WWE Future: ‘Roman Reigns Will Be In Hollywood, I’ll Still Be Here’

0

Many stars of Randy Orton’s generation have branched out of WWE. People such as Batista and John Cena have decided to pursue an acting career and have found success in Hollywood. However, the Viper has been clear about not having any such ambitions.

According to him, he will continue being a WWE star even after Roman Reigns has followed the footsteps of others and left the company.

Orton talked about his legacy in pro wrestling during a recent interview with Metro. He claimed that after The Undertaker, he will be the next guy who will be remembered to never go anywhere else:

“A lot of people ask me what my legacy’ll be. I think, if you’re talking WWE more specifically, my legacy will be that I was the next guy – after The Undertaker – that was the only person that never went anywhere else, and had more matches, more titles, more accolades,”

Randy Orton also used the opportunity to take a shot at the current Undisputed World Champion Roman Reigns. He said that he will still be in WWE long after Reigns has left:

“I don’t care if Roman Reigns… I’m sure he’s got Dwayne Johnson’s agent’s number on speed dial. Roman will be in Hollywood, I’ll still be here.”

Orton, alongside his partner Riddle have been feuding with The Usos recently. These two teams are scheduled for a title unification match at WrestleMania Backlash. Randy has been taking shots at the Tribal Chief as well. It’s possible that we will see these two facing off in near future.

Tyson Kidd Reveals How He Started Producing Women’s Matches

0

There have been two women’s main events in the history of WrestleMania and both have been produced by Tyson Kidd. The retired wrestler has become synonymous with women’s wrestling within WWE in recent years. A lot of female performers have credited him for many great ideas.

During his interview with Dropkick podcast, the WWE star revealed how he originally started working on women’s matches. He recalled that Carmella was the first woman to start requesting him as a producer after they worked on a match together:

“Carmella [is] someone who’s really understood my formula. I texted her this at one point during the pandemic. I hadn’t seen her for a little bit. I sent her a text and I was like, ‘hey, just so you know, I have never forgotten.’ She was the first girl that started requesting me to work with her. On Raw [at] one point I kept working with Seth and then on SmackDown I would do random things, and one time I had a woman’s match. I had Carmella and somebody and then Carmella started [requesting me].”

‘I Don’t Picture Myself Doing Anything Else’

Tyson Kidd then explained how things evolved from there. Other women slowly started making the same requests. According to the former tag team champion, now he can’t imagine himself doing anything else:

“She was first one to start requesting me. Then one time in Tampa, it was Becky [Lynch] versus Carmella. I have known Becky since like 2005. Becky’s another very special [performer]. So then, Carmella and Becky had a match. Then Becky was like ‘Wait. Where do you come up with this stuff?’ I was [like] ‘I don’t know.’ But yeah, I’ve never forgotten that Carmela was the catalyst of [it]. Now, I don’t picture myself doing anything else but working with these women. So, thanks Carmella.”
