Pat McAfee Negotiating With Amazon for NFL Job (Report)

Pat McAfee is a very busy man, and he might be getting even busier quite soon.

The New York Post is reporting that McAfee is currently in talks to join Amazon and their Thursday Night Football coverage which is set to kick off this fall. Also, the discussions have included the possibility of airing McAfee’s “The Pat McAfee Show” on Amazon Prime Video. “The Pat McAfee Show” currently airs live on YouTube and SiriusXM, and is sponsored by FanDuel.

The report adds that nothing has been finalized. Andrew Marchand of The Post has reported that both Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit have been hired by Amazon to do commentary for Thursday Night Football. As for McAfee, he has been open in the past about not wanting to do color commentary for football due to the big commitment.

Pat McAfee already does weekly commentary live and on-location every Friday night for SmackDown Live. In fact, he recently showed off his in-ring talents when he wrestled Austin Theory at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. After the match, which McAfee won, he also had an impromptu match with Vince McMahon that he ultimately lost.

It was a very eventful WrestleMania week for the former NFL punter, who got to end it on a happy note, taking a stunner from WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin after sharing a beer bash celebration with him. There’s currently no word on how a potential Amazon deal would affect McAfee’s WWE commitment.

Steve Austin Reveals Secret About Famed Beer Truck Segment

WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin was once part of one of the most memorable segments in Monday Night RAW history.

In March of 1999, Steve Austin hit the ring with a beer truck, smashing into the ring; with Vince McMahon, The Rock, and Shane McMahon in it. He then proceeded to hose the three down with beer on the heels of WrestleMania 15 the following weekend, where Austin would challenge The Rock for the WWF Title. “The Rattlesnake” won the No Disqualification match, which was refereed by WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley.

Recently, Austin appeared on the BrewBound podcast to discuss his famed professional wrestling career, and opened up about the beer truck segment. Austin first talked about when the angle was first presented to him, and then revealed that most of what was being sprayed was actually water, despite the first few gallons being real beer.

“Well, you know, living on the road back in those days was a pretty wild time. A lot of times you got creative the day of. I remember arriving in the building, Vince or somebody is saying, ‘hey man, you’re going to drive a beer truck into the arena, and hose down The Rock.’

“I bumped the ring with it, and the first 30 gallons that came out was actually beer, and then it turned into water. When you show up, and you hear all the crazy sh*t they’ve had me do, whether it was Zambonis, beer trucks, driving cement trucks, filling in a corvette with cement, just totaling a brand new corvette, you know.

“We were able to do so much fun things, it’s those moments that people will never forget, and that beer truck was one of them.”

Austin recently made his return to in-ring action for the first time in over 19 years. He headlined Night One of WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas against Kevin Owens. “KO” initially invited Austin onto the “KO Show” as a special guest.

However, he eventually challenged him to an impromptu No Holds Barred match, which Austin accepted. When it was all said and done, Austin emerged victorious after hitting his signature stunner. He even returned the following night once more to deliver a few more stunners to the likes of Vince McMahon, Austin Theory, and Pat McAfee.

Former WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) resurfaced on Thursday with a new Twitter name/bio and some puzzling comments and imagery.

Wyatt updated his Twitter name to reflect a red circle. His new Twitter avatar can be seen here:

He also sent out some messages talking about evolving into a sentient machine, so he doesn’t have to feel the pain of being a man anymore.

Samoa Joe Opens Up on WWE Release

Samoa Joe is All Elite. But just earlier this year he was still signed to WWE before being released from his contract.

Joe signed with WWE back in 2015, quickly becoming one of the biggest stars on the NXT brand. After two runs as NXT Champion, Joe was called up to the main roster where he would feud with the likes of Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, and more. His run on the main roster resulted in three reigns as the United States Champion.

Injuries plagued Joe’s run on the main roster, however, and he was briefly released in April of 2021, but was quickly resigned two months later after it was reported that Triple H was unhappy with his release. He eventually returned to NXT to win the brand’s World Title for the third time, before being forced to relinquish the title after contracting COVID-19. Upon his return, Joe was assigned to NXT as a trainer before being released earlier this year in January.

Speaking to the New York Post, Joe discussed his WWE release, stating that he doesn’t dwell on it, and is more so focused on what’s ahead of him with AEW.

“I wasn’t overly frustrated with everything. I mean, things like that happen. It worked out at times and sometimes it didn’t and that’s how it goes. I don’t really sit here and dwell on things and punish myself over things that I cannot change or never will be changed. I’m squarely focused on what’s ahead of me and not behind.”

Samoa Joe eventually signed with AEW earlier this month; joining an already stacked roster that includes the likes of Kenny Omega, CM Punk, Adam Cole, The Hardy Boyz, and so many more.

Kazuchika Okada Might Not Appear at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

One of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) biggest stars, Kazuchika Okada, might not be available for the promotion’s upcoming joint pay-per-view (PPV) with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), The Forbidden Door, this summer.

It was announced on yesterday’s AEW Dynamite that NJPW and AEW would be hosting the join PPV event from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on June 26. Shortly after the announcement there was a huge buzz on Twitter about Okada appearing on the show, and who he could potentially compete against. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio recently reported on this.

Meltzer noted that the show was just now brought up to Okada as it was announced in Japan. However, his wife’s birthday is on the 28th of June, and that is June 27th in the United States. With that being said, it would be difficult for Okada to make the show and be back in time for his wife’s birthday.

While Meltzer did note that Okada “kind of” said he wasn’t doing the show, he could have been kidding. He then speculated that if Okada was a part of the show, it would be a perfect opportunity to re-introduce Kenny Omega and build up to a potential match – likely in September.

Omega and Okada have extraordinary chemistry with each other inside the ring, having competed three times in singles action against one another under the NJPW banner. Currently, Omega has a 2-1 lead in the rivalry, a number Kazuchika Okada is hoping to make even in a potential rematch.

John Cena Reflects on Randy Orton’s 20-Year WWE Anniversary

Former WWE Champion Randy Orton has certainly come a long way in his 20-year career on the WWE main roster.

Over the course of his career Orton has become one of the industry’s most respected veteran’s and biggest stars. This year, Orton celebrates 20 years on the WWE’s main roster since making his debut on SmackDown in 2002 against Hardcore Holly. The rest, as they say, is history. Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion and a sure-fire future Hall Of Famer.

“The Viper” is also a two-time Royal Rumble winner and a former Money In The Bank winner. He has had some legendary feuds throughout his run, but Orton hasn’t had more programs with anyone else when it comes to his rivalries with John Cena. Cena no longer runs with WWE full-time as Orton does, but that didn’t stop Cena from taking to Twitter to pay homage to Orton on his 20-year WWE anniversary.

Speculation on whether or not Roman Reigns will have a match at WrestleMania Backlash can now end.

There is no denying that Roman Reigns is WWE’s top priority when it comes to talent. While he has long held a main event spot, his stock took off thanks to the “Tribal Chief” gimmick. Reigns is fresh off a victory over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Despite the momentum, Reigns hasn’t exactly had a big presence the past couple of weeks. He appeared on Raw following WrestleMania and said he’d announce his next move on SmackDown. His move ended up being a demand for The Usos to challenge RKBro in an attempt to become the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.

Roman Reigns-WrestleMania Backlash

Reigns didn’t appear on the April 15 episode of SmackDown and it’s left many speculating that he may not have a match at WrestleMania Backlash.

That hunch can be put to rest. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reports that Roman Reigns will be in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash. Meltzer suspects an angle will be done on the April 22 episode of SmackDown.

Some felt that a program with Shinsuke Nakamura would be next since Nakamura confronted The Bloodline on the April 8 episode of SmackDown and ate superkicks from The Usos for his efforts.

There is no word on who Reigns’ WrestleMania Backlash opponent will be at this time.

Eric Bischoff: AEW Is Kind of ‘Flatlining’ Right Now

Former WCW president Eric Bischoff was recently a guest on “Strictly Business” to talk about several professional wrestling topics.

Bischoff discussed the state of the professional wrestling industry, offering his thoughts on promotions such as IMPACT Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He first started off by offering his thoughts on IMPACT – and Bischoff didn’t hold back. The former WCW head said he can get more people to watch him cooking a burger on a Saturday afternoon than to watch IMPACT.

He also claimed that IMPACT Wrestling shouldn’t be in the conversation when it comes to discussing licensing and merchandising because they’re “not in the wrestling business.” Bischoff added it had nothing to do with the talent, as he believes IMPACT has great talent, but including IMPACT in the conversation for televised wrestling is “silly.”

When discussing AEW, Eric Bischoff stated that the promotion is currently in a position where their long-term potential is more intriguing than anything else going on currently. He also touched on AEW’s lack of licensing deals and how he doesn’t see that changing anytime soon since the promotion is kind of “flatlining” right now ratings-wise.

“But that doesn’t happen overnight, it didn’t happen overnight in WCW,” Bischoff said. “Providing AEW continues to grow, which arguably they’re not, they’re kind of flatlining at a million viewers a week, but if they can grow that industry in such a way that it gives confidence to manufacturers and distributors to go ahead and invest money in that licensing in hopes to increase sales off their products, that’s when you’ll start to see real growth in AEW.

“It’s not a knock against them, you can’t do that overnight. No one is going to take that risk until you’ve established yourself in the marketplace.”

AEW has certainly been doing as much as possible to stand out to professional wrestling fans. In the past year they’ve made a ton of huge signings; such as CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Adam Cole, and more. Also, on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, president Tony Khan announced a joint pay-per-view (PPV) with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) titled “The Forbidden Door.”

AEW: Fight Forever Will be the Company’s Console Video Game

AEW: Fight Forever will be the name of All Elite Wrestling’s upcoming console video game.

Game production has been underway for some time. Recent reports have the game slated for release in September 2022.

After this week’s AEW Dynamite from Pittsburgh went off the air, AEW President Tony Khan came out to address the live crowd.

Khan explained that they would be recording audio for the Fight Forever video game, and asked the crowd to chant phrases including:

  • Adam Page, Bay Bay and Boom
  • Sting
  • FTR, Cash, Dax

AEW Announces Joint PPV Event With NJPW

The reports of a joint show involving AEW and NJPW have been confirmed.

During the April 20 episode of Dynamite, Tony Khan, along with NJPW President Takami Ohbari, announced “Forbidden Door.” This will be a PPV event that’ll be held inside the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on June 26.

Adam Cole interrupted Khan and Ohbari to announce he’ll take on Tomohiro Ishii on the April 22 episode of Rampage. This will be an Owen Hart Cup qualifier match. Jay White later made his way out and promised that the Bullet Club will have a presence at the show.

In a press release, Tony Khan expressed his excitement about doing business with NJPW.

“As the world continues to reopen, I’m making sure the Forbidden Door follows suit and we can finally give fans the dream events they’ve always imagined,” said Tony Khan, CEO, GM and Head of Creative of AEW. “The United Center was home to one of AEW’s biggest events of all time, The First Dance, where CM Punk made his return to wrestling after a seven-year hiatus. This summer, fans of AEW and NJPW can expect the unexpected during this extraordinary, first-of-its-kind pay-per-view between our two incredible companies.”

Takami Ohbari also chimed in, promising that NJPW talent will showcase Strong-Style to the highest degree.

“As we have done for more than 50 years, the power of pro-wrestling can energize people by fulfilling their dreams,” said Takami Ohbari, President of NJPW. “Now, it’s quite an important mission for us, the pro-wrestling industry as a whole. We are not only opening this door. We will show you NJPW’s genuine Strong-Style beyond the Forbidden door.”

AEW Dynamite aired live this week from Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Britt Baker returned to action in an Owen Hart Tournament Qualifier match. CM Punk squared off against Dustin Rhodes and Darby Allin & Andrade battled in a Coffin Match.

CM Punk def. Dustin Rhodes, Hangman Page Appears

CM Punk battled Dustin Rhodes in the first match of the night. Punk and Rhodes got great reactions from the crowd and shook hands before the match. Rhodes and Punk traded Arm Drags to start off the action before a stare down. Punk tackled Rhodes to the mat and applied a submission hold.

Rhodes slammed Punk’s shoulder over the top rope and hit him with a chop. CM Punk went for the GTS but Rhodes countered into a cradle for a near fall and then applied a submission hold while driving his elbow into Punks shoulder. Rhodes went for a Crossbody but Punk ducked and Dustin tumbled out of the ring.

The action returned to the ring and Rhodes was favoring his knee. Punk started dropping elbows on the injured knee and the referee asked if Rhodes wanted to continue. Rhodes said yes and Punk went right back to attacking thee. Rhodes hobbled to the corner as Dynamite went to a break.

When Dynamite returned, Punk and Rhodes were battling on the ring apron. Dustin booted Punk into the ring post and then slammed the shoulder down hard on the apron. Back in the ring, Dustin connected with a Back Body Drop and followed it up with a couple Clotheslines. Punk crawled to the corner but Rhodes followed him and unloaded some punches to the face.

Punk went for a running knee but Rhodes got out of the way and connected with Code Red for a close two count. Rhodes followed it up with a Powerslam but Punk kicked out at two again. Punk locked in a Figure Four and the two started trading punches while the hold was locked in. Rhodes was able to reverse the hold but Punk grabbed the ropes to break it up.

CM Punk went for a springboard Clothesline but Rhodes caught him with a punch. Dustin followed it up with Cross Rhodes and a Piledriver but somehow Punk kicked out at two. Rhodes hit some punches but Punk responded with a boot to the face and set up for the GTS. Rhodes escaped and went for a roll-up but Punk countered into a pin of his own for the victory. The two shared a hug after the match and shook hands again.

Punk motioned for the AEW Championship again and the champ Hangman Adam Page interrupted. Hangman stared at CM Punk on the top of the entrance ramp. A loud “Cowboy Shit! chant broke out and Punk exited. Hangman posed with the title on the entrance ramp to end the segment.

Blackpool Combat Club Dominated

Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, Jon Moxley) faced Dante Martin, Lee Moriarty, Brock Anderson tonight. Arn Anderson was ringside and William Regal joined commentary. BCC dominated early and isolated Dante in the ring. Dante hit Danielson with an Enziguri and then connected with a Dropkick to Moxley. Brock hit Moxley with a couple strikes before Jon planted him with a German Suplex. Danielson tagged in and hit a Knee Drop as Dynamite went to a break.

Back from the break, Anderson planted Moxley with a Spinebuster. Danielson and Lee Moriarty tagged in and Lee connected with a Crossbody off the top rope. Moriarty hit Danielson with a knee to the face and followed it up with a running uppercut. Lee planted Danielson with a Suplex and went for the cover but Bryan kicked out at two.

Lee applied a Crossface in the middle of the ring but Danielson escaped with a Suplex. Dante hit a Dropkick off the top rope and followed it up with a Crossbody outside the ring. Back in the ring, Blackpool Combat Club just beat the hell out of Dante, Lee, and Brock with strikes at the same time as the crowd erupted. Jon Moxley then planted Dante with the Paradigm Shift for the pinfall victory.

Forbidden Door Announced For June 26th

Tony Khan’s big announcement was revealed to be a PPV with AEW & NJPW called Forbidden Door. The PPV will air on Sunday June 26th from the United Center in Chicago. Tony introduced the president of NJPW Takami Ohbari before Adam Cole interrupted. Cole announced the event himself and that he will be facing Ishi on Rampage. Jay White interrupted and hyped the event to end the segment.

Wardlow def. The Butcher

Wardlow faced The Butcher tonight on Dynamite. Wardlow was brought to the ring by security. MJF and Shawn Spears were enjoying some popcorn in the crowd for the match. The action spilled out of the ring and Butcher took control by shoving Wardlow into the ring post. Butcher slammed Wardlow down on the apron and rolled him back into the ring. The Butcher hit a Clothesline and a Side Slam but Wardlow kicked out with ease.

Wardlow booted Butcher in the midsection and planted him with a Powerbomb. The crowd wanted more and Wardlow hit him with another one as MJF & Spears looked on. Wardlow hit two more Powerbombs for the pinfall victory. Security then put handcuffs on Wardlow and escorted him out as MJF threw a tantrum.

Alex Marvez interviewed MJF backstage after the match. Maxwell called Marvez a “stupid old man” and gave Jake Roberts a bunch of money. Wardlow will battle Lance Archer next week.

Kyle O’Reilly Qualified For The Owen Hart Tournament

Kyle O’Reilly battled Jungle Boy in a qualifying match for the men’s Owen Hart Tournament. Earlier on Dynamite, the Undisputed Elite had a conversation backstage and issued an open challenge for 10-man tag team match next week.

O’Reilly controlled the action early and kept Jungle Boy grounded. Jungle Boy battled back and connected with a Dropkick. O’Reilly responded with a knee to the face and a DDT for a two count as Dynamite went to a commercial.

When Dynamite returned, Jungle Boy hit an uppercut and sent Kyle out of the ring. Jungle Boy hit a Suicide Dive that sent O’Reilly into the barricade. Jungle Boy followed it up with a Clothesline and rolled Kyle back into the ring. O’Reilly caught Jungle Boy in the ropes and hit a Dragon Screw.

Jungle Boy shook it off and hit a slingshot DDT and then applied the Guillotine Choke. Kyle broke the hold with a Suplex but Jungle Boy responded with another big Clothesline. Jungle Boy got O’Reilly in the Tree of Woe and hit him with a Dropkick to the face.

O’Reilly missed with a kick and Jungle Boy caught him with a boot to the face. Jungle Boy went for a cradle but O’Reilly escaped and applied an Ankle Lock in the center of the ring. Jungle Boy escaped and got Kyle in the Snare Trap but he was able to reach the ropes to break the hold.

Jungle Boy climbed to the top rope but it backfired as O’Reilly hopped up and hit a Superplex. O’Reilly followed it up with a Brainbuster and climbed back up to the top rope for a Knee Drop for the pinfall victory. Kyle O’Reilly qualified for the Owen Hart Tournament and will battle Samoa Joe in the first round. After the match, Christian Cage and Jungle Boy had a conversation on the ramp before heading backstage.

HOOK Picked Up A Win & Ignored Danhausen

Hook made his Dynamite debut against Anthony Henry tonight. Hook dominated early as Tony Nese & Mark Sterling took notes in the crowd. Hook hit a Lariat to the back of the head and unloaded some strikes to the face. Danhausen appeared and once again tried to curse Hook but it failed. Hook applied the Redrum for the quick submission victory.

Danhausen got into the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Danhausen shouted that if Hook doesn’t want to be cursed by Danhausen, he shall fight Danhausen. Hook didn’t respond and exited the ring to end the segment.

Sammy Guevara Will Defend The TNT Title Against Scorpio Sky Next Week In A Ladder Match

TNT Champion Sammy Guevara came to the ring with Tay Conti to a chorus of boos. Guevara mocked the crowd for booing him because his girlfriend is hotter than theirs. Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page) interrupted with Dan Lambert.

Dan called Sammy a high school douche bag that cannot keep his tongue out of girl’s mouth. Lambert added that Men of the Year should come down to the ring and give Sammy the type of pounding that Tay dreams about. A ladder match for the TNT Championship between Sammy Guevara & Scorpio Sky was announced for next week.It was a busy night for Scorpio Sky as he had a conversation with former tag teammate Frankie Kazarian (SCU) backstage as well.

Britt Baker Qualified For The Owen Hart Tournament

Britt Baker faced Danielle Kamela in a qualifying match for the women’s Owen Hart Tournament. Steelers star RB Najee Harris & TE Pat Freiermuth accompanied Baker to the ring in front of her hometown crowd. Kamella got in some offense early before Baker booted her in the midsection. Baker connected with a DDT as Dynamite went a break. When Dynamite returned, Baker quickly applied the Lockjaw for the submission victory. Britt Baker qualified for the women’s Owen Hart Tournament.

Darby Allin def. Andrade In A Coffin Match

Darby Allin battled Andre El Idolo in a Coffin Match in tonight’s main event. Marq Quen and The Blade accompanied Andrade to the ring and beat Darby down to start off the action. The match spilled into the crowd and Sting was revealed under a mask. Sting attack AFO and hit a Splash as Dynamite went to a break. 

When Dynamite returned, Andrade tried to get Darby in the coffin but he held the thumbtack laced lid open with his arm. Andrade slammed Allin on the ramp and then into the steel steps. Darby battled back with a Suicide Dive and both men fell into the coffin. Andrade knocked Jose away and shut the lid to win the match. After the match, The Hardys came to the entrance ramp and started up a “delete!” chant to mock Andrade.

It’s safe to say that Ezekiel Jackson, real name Rycklon Stephens, still keeps himself in tremendous shape. It may not come as a surprise as Jackson is only 43 years old. He will turn 44 in just a couple of days (April 22).

Ezekiel Jackson signed a developmental deal with WWE back in 2007. He made his main roster debut the following year, serving as The Brian Kendrick’s manager.

Jackson eventually became a singles star and he captured the ECW and WWE Intercontinental Titles. He and WWE parted ways in 2014.

After spending some time working for Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground, Jackson retired from in-ring action. Today, Ezekiel Jackson is a professional fitness coach.

Road Dogg Thinks Montreal Screwjob Could’ve Been a Work

For years there has been a group of fans who believe the Montreal Screwjob could’ve actually been a work, and WWE Hall Of Famer Road Dogg might be a part of that group.

In 1997 at Survivor Series, Vince McMahon decided to “screw” WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart, smartening referee Earl Hebner up prior to his match with Shawn Michaels for the WWF Title to call for the bell while Michaels had Hart in his own signature sharpshooter submission hold.

This was in effort to force the title off Hart as he was on his way to WCW. McMahon didn’t want Hart showing up on WCW with the WWF Title, similar to how Madusa did with the WWF Women’s Title, throwing it in the trash on an episode of WCW Nitro a few years prior.

Road Dogg recently took to his podcast, “Oh…You Didn’t Know” to reflect on Survivor Series ’97 and what he remembers from that day. The DX member said he remembers seeing everyone rush to the monitors once everything went down inside the ring. He then recalled the “loogie” Hart hawked at Vince McMahon, and seeing McMahon come out of the locker room with a red/purple eye after taking a punch from Hart.

The former WWE Tag Team Champ added that, from what he heard, McMahon let Hart swing on him because he deserved it. However, he noted that he’s still not 100 percent sure if the entire thing wasn’t a big work or not.

“I’m still not 100% sure it was all real and that’s just me being honest with you, I know I’m cynical because I’m a wrestler and I’m one of the boys and I think everything’s a work.”

If the entire ordeal was a work, nobody involved has cracked and revealed the truth yet, from what Road Dogg has heard. Despite the fact that everyone involved is adamant that it was real, Dogg is still skeptical.

“I’m still not 100% sure it was all real and that’s just me being honest with you, I know I’m cynical because I’m a wrestler and I’m one of the boys and I think everything’s a work.”

Kevin Owens Reveals How He Reacted to Finding Out About Steve Austin Match

Kevin Owens got the opportunity of a lifetime at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month.

Owens headlined Night One of WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas against WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin. The match was Austin’s first-ever match since retiring after WrestleMania 19 in Seattle over 19 years ago. Initially, the match was advertised as a special “KO Show” segment. Instead, Owens ended up challenging Austin to a No Holds Barred match on the spot – which Austin accepted.

The pair battled all over the arena before Austin ultimately pulled out the win with a stunner. It was an incredibly nostalgic way to end the first night of “The Showcase Of The Immortals.” Recently, Owens was interviewed by Metro News and discussed his reaction to finding out about the match in Vince McMahon’s office.

Owens admitted he dropped a few expletives in front of the boss when he first heard the news.

“Vince told me a little while ago. My reaction was quiet jubilation because I was in Vince’s office, but I may have said a few swear words to him – positively [swearing]! It was really surreal,” Owens said.

“It’s funny, ’cause I was a fan of his from the start. He came in as the Ringmaster, and even he would probably say it wasn’t a great time in his career. I loved him as The Ringmaster! And then he became Stone Cold and he was on another level.

“KO” added that he understands there are a ton of other Superstars that WWE and Austin could’ve chosen for this opportunity, and he’s honored to have been selected.

“To get to be the one to do it, there’s a lot of very talented and competent WWE superstars out there. For me to be the one in this situation, it’s a huge honor and I don’t take it lightly.”

While Owens’ feud with Austin seems to have come to an end, the former WWE Universal Champion is now locked in a feud with Ezekiel, who he is likely to go one-on-one with at WrestleMania Backlash.

WWE No Longer Penalizing Talents for Marijuana Use (Report)

WWE Superstars shouldn’t have to worry about being drug tested tomorrow, as the company reportedly no longer penalizes talents for the use of marijuana.

Today is “4/20” and Fightful reports that WWE stars haven’t been fined or suspended for the use of marijuana in “years.” The company used to fine talents $2,500 for the use of marijuana. The report did add that talents are still tested for “everything” but as for marijuana in particular, there will no longer be fines handed out.

WWE’s corporate website still officially lists a $2,500 fine for marijuana use, however, it’s rumored the section was quietly removed from the Wellness Policy. You can read that section for yourself here below:

“B. FOR POSITIVE MARIJUANA DRUG TESTS

In the event of any positive test for marijuana, the WWE Talent shall be fined Two Thousand Five Hundred US Dollars ($2,500.00) per positive test, which shall be deducted from the WWE Talent’s downside guarantee.”

It’s also rumored that Randy Orton was a big advocate for getting the policy amended for marijuana use. Additionally, his current tag team partner and one-half of the RAW Tag Team Champions, Matt Riddle, also was very outspoken about abolishing penalizations for marijuana use during his time in NXT. Another star who was outspoken on the matter in NXT was Kona Reeves.

Reeves was released from the company in August of 2021. Interestingly enough, the first major push-back from WWE talents came back in the 90s, championed by WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart. Hart noted that the use of marijuana was a far better alternative to the other methods wrestlers would use to cope with pain.

Now, on 4/20, the likes of MVP and RK-Bro are openly celebrating the holiday. MVP recently released a 4/20-themed rap, while RK-Bro just dropped a shirt for the holiday.

Killer Kross & Scarlett Got Married on a Glacier (Video)

Former WWE Superstars Killer Kross (Kevin Kesar) and Scarlett Bordeaux (Elizabeth Chihaia) are now married.

The couple recently took a helicopter ride to a glacier in Alaska for their “very private” ceremony. Kross posted a video online recapping their magical event.

He provided the following note:

“Hello Everyone, Elizabeth and I have recently eloped- we’re married!

We flew to Alaska, hopped on a helicopter and flew to a glacier for a very private ceremony (then wrestled the next day, naturally).

We initially weren’t going to share this footage but after further discussing it; we’d actually like to do so and say thank you so much for all the support we get from you all.

The couple wrestled for WrestlePro Alaska in Anchorage on April 9th, so it seems the wedding took place April 8th. They announced their engagement back in September.

MVP Releases New Rap Song in Honor of 4/20

Former WWE United States Champion MVP has released a new rap song in honor of 4/20 today.

The song is called “Legalize It” featuring Smoke DZA and 80 Empire. He encourages the United States government to legalize weed across the country. 18 states currently have it legalized for recreational use. You can listen to the song on Apple Music, Spotify, and other streaming platforms.

MVP is currently serving as a manager on WWE TV. Initially, he was the manager of former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. However, MVP turned on Lashley the night after WrestleMania 38, attacking “The Almighty” alongside Omos. Lashley bested Omos the night before in singles competition. Now, Lashley and Omos are scheduled to have an arm wrestling contest on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

The former US Champ offered the following explanation for why he turned on Lashley:

“The All Mighty Bobby Lashley, this force of nature. Somewhere along the line he forgot about the conversation we had in that warehouse all those years ago. See, all I did was help the All Mighty remember what he was capable of doing.

But somewhere along the way he forgot about who helped him get back on that path.” said MVP, “Now it’s all about, ‘What I did. I’m the Almighty, I did this, I did that.’ Omos, he’s in need of someone that can help him unlock his potential. To truly be the monster that he is. I think I’m just the man to do that.”

Tony Khan Hypes His Latest Huge Announcement

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Tony Khan will make a huge announcement tonight on AEW Dynamite!

In all seriousness, the company has a pretty good track record when it comes to announcements and free agent signings. Just hours ahead of the big reveal, TV Insider just dropped an exclusive interview with the AEW President.

Khan spoke with Scott Fishman to provide some ’11th hour’ hype for what’s sure to be a newsworthy event. According to TK, this announcement will be “unique” and unlike anything they’ve done before.

“I think this surprise is different than anything we’ve promoted before. We’ve had a lot of great surprise moments in AEW. A lot of special nights on Dynamite. Without giving too much away, I think this is a unique announcement. I’m excited about this as anything we’ve worked on.”

He continued, “I think there will be a lot of interest in this announcement. Given the amount of intrigue I think it will create, I thought it would be good to promote a big surprise coming to Dynamite. This is the kind of announcement that deserves a lot of fanfare.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Khan speaks about the dynamics of owning two wrestling promotions, CM Punk stating his intention to go after the AEW World Championship, Cody Rhodes’ departure and much more.

Interesting Note on Bray Wyatt’s Hiatus from Wrestling

Its been quite a while since professional wrestling fans have seen Bray Wyatt compete inside the ring.

Wyatt hasn’t done much professional wrestling-related ventures since his WWE release last July. Since, he’s only done a Wrestlecon appearance during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. Many have wondered if Wyatt would consider a return to WWE, or even joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

However, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, there is a good reason why Wyatt hasn’t signed with anyone yet. Meltzer reports that Wyatt’s asking price to return to the ring is simply too high right now.

Bray Wyatt is one of the hottest free agents out there, but his services don’t come cheap. AEW has been on a hiring spree, but they still have to be mindful about their pay structure. The company brought in some huge names last year, including CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole. Cody Rhodes’ recent departure should serve as an example of Tony Khan having limits on how much he’s willing to offer people.

Wyatt hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since the night after last year’s WrestleMania. However, he did recently hint on social media that he couldn’t imagine never stepping into a professional wrestling ring again. As for his health, with all this time he’s spent away from the squared circle, he’s likely in great shape for an in-ring return.

It will be interesting to see where Wyatt ultimately ends up if he does decide to sign with a major promotion again.

To commemorate April 20th (“4:20”), WWE is now selling an RK-Bro t-shirt inspired by Stone Cold Steve Austin’s iconic Austin 3:16 shirt.

The shirt reads, “RK-bro 4:20” in green text on the front and “… says I just smoked your asssssss” on the back.

According to Randy Orton, it “took some work” to get the shirt made. The RKBro 4:20 shirt is on sale today only and begins shipping on May 5th.

Marijuana is a banned substance under WWE’s talent wellness policy, but that hasn’t stopped various Superstars from partaking in the illicit activity.

During a 2020 interview with Ariel Helwani for ESPN, Riddle shared his views on marijuana.

“I’m a supporter of it, you know, it’s medically legal in most states. And I know most companies, aren’t you know, punishing people [for it] anymore. I know since my stint with WWE I’ve had no problems. You know they understand my situation, they know I’ve fought in UFC, they know I’ve had multiple surgeries, they know I bump all around the ring and I take damage and everything else and I’m 34 years old.

“And as long as I am not hurting anybody or doing anything they make sure they test me all the time. They know everything about me. They test us for everything all the time. So its like, you know, I’m well taken care of and I’m good. They understand who the Bro is.”

Last year, Randy Orton revealed that he got high with Snoop Dogg backstage at WrestleMania 24. The Viper made sure to clarify that wasn’t the first time he had used marijuana, just the first time he smoked with Snoop.

Roxanne Perez Reacts to “Fever Dream” WWE TV Debut

Roxanne Perez made a successful WWE television debut on Tuesday’s edition of NXT.

Just days after picking up a win on NXT Level Up last week, Perez is now working a program with Toxic Attraction.

A vignette aired on NXT that highlighted Perez growing up as a WWE fan. She’s watch WWE programming and play WWE video games to escape feeling like an outcast at school.

Perez was initially scheduled to debut next week, but she was confronted by Toxic Attraction (NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin). The heels attempted to intimidate Perez and told her to keep her expectations in check.

Perez wrestled Jacy Jayne and got a surprise win. The finish came after Wendy Choo was shown on the big screen destroying the Toxic Lounge. Perez used the distraction to her Code Red finisher on Jayne for the win.

Backstage after the match, Perez said wrestling in WWE is a dream come true. She’s been working for this goal since she was 13 years old and showed off a tattoo that marked the date of her first match.

“I had my first win in my debut for WWE NXT, and it feels so crazy to say that,” she said. “Because like I said, I’ve wanted this my entire life. This is all I’ve ever dreamed of, and now it’s real.”

She also tweeted that winning her NXT TV debut was like a fever dream. She received congratulatory messages from several people including WWE’s Senior Director of Content & Development Jeremy Borash.

Johnny Gargano Returns to the WWE Performance Center

Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano returned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL this week.

The former NXT Champion wasn’t there to brush up on his skills or train for his in-ring return. He was actually there to visit friends and introduce former colleagues to his baby.

Gargano and Candice LaRae’s son Quill was born back on February 18th.

NXT manager Malcolm Bivens posted a photo on Tuesday of Gargano’s visit. Bivens used the caption, “Fatherhood whoopin his ass.”

As seen below, Gargano looks like he’s been through the ringer.

Johnny Gargano left WWE in late 2021 after approximately 6 years in NXT. During his time away, he and wife Candice LaRae welcomed the birth of their son.

Gargano recently revealed that he left NXT because his character felt stale. However, he hasn’t lost his love for pro wrestling. Gargano is now taking independent bookings. He appeared at WrestleCon during WrestleMania 38 weekend, but has not made any high-profile appearances since leaving WWE.

He could follow guys like Adam Cole, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland to AEW. He also might wind up back in WWE, according to these recent comments:

Details on Scrapped Plans for Orange Cassidy & Danhausen

AEW had plans for an extended storyline involving Orange Cassidy and Danhausen, but those plans have been put on hold due to Cassidy’s shoulder injury.

Cassidy competed in the Face of the Revolution ladder match at AEW Revolution back on March 6th. He suffered a “significant injury” after Keith Lee tossed him outside the ring, as seen below.

Thankfully, Cassidy was able to avoid shoulder surgery. However, he remains on the sidelines 6 weeks later with no updates on when he’s expected back.

AEW President Tony Khan is this week’s guest on Robbie Fox’s My Mom’s Basement podcast. During their discussion, Khan revealed that Cassidy’s injury derailed plans for him and Danhausen to continue working together at Revolution.

It’s unclear exactly what AEW had planned for the two polarizing comedy figures, but wrestling fans can expect them to reunite when Cassidy is healthy enough to return.

Danhausen made his AEW debut earlier this year during an Orange Cassidy match. The duo is aligned with the Best Friends faction and interacted a bit before Revolution.

With Cassidy on the sidelines, Khan said Danhausen won’t be forgotten. Khan said he sees Danhausen as a crossover star for AEW who can represent the company in various forums outside of wrestling.

During Cassidy’s absence, Danhausen has been working with Hook. Khan says he’s very excited for Danhausen and Hook’s “journey together,” which should lead to some interesting interactions.

Listen to Owen Hart’s AEW Theme Song, “Legacy”

Owen Hart’s AEW theme music has been released.

The track is titled, “Legacy” and is composed by Mikey Rukus. We know the song has been in production for at least 6 months, since we got a sneak peek back in October.

AEW has partnered with the Owen Hart Foundation for a series of projects, including men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments. Qualifying matches for the inaugural tournaments are currently underway.

The finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments will take place at the annual AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May.

As you can hear below, Legacy pays homage to the classic Owen Hart theme song that blared through WWF arenas during the mid-1990’s.

Thunder Rosa Discusses Tony Khan’s Role as a Leader in AEW

Thunder Rosa appeared on the Mack Mania podcast this week and spoke about her experience working with AEW President Tony Khan.

As AEW Women’s World Champion, Thunder Rosa is the face of the company’s women’s division. She recently ended Britt Baker’s lengthy title reign and understands the responsibility that now rests on her shoulders. She’s the top dog in AEW and now has a target on her back.

As someone who has wrestled around the world, Rosa knows what makes a good boss. She believes one of Tony Khan’s major strengths is that he listens to ideas from talent and allows them to have a hand in their storylines.

‘He listens,” she said about Tony Khan. “When you make sense, he will listen to what you have to say.”

She sees wrestling fans debating AEW storylines online. Some of them can be harsh about the AEW product and Tony Khan in particular. She’s seen her boss’ creativity in action and believes he knows what he’s doing.

“You have to believe in his vision,” said Rosa. “It is what it is, and that’s one of the things that I have learned about him. Everything that he has done from when I first started to now, I left it up to him, like the buildup to the Lights Out match and now into having the match in San Antonio was great.”

Rosa continued, “I never went and said, ‘No, I want to do this.’ I told Tony, ‘I’m going to see your vision and make sure that what you see is what you’re going to get.’ That’s what I said, and I made sure that I did everything that was in my power to do that, and I will continue to do that as a champion.”

Thunder Rosa retained the AEW Women’s World title against Nyla Rose this past weekend at Battle of the Belts II. Following that match, the top contenders in the Women’s division include Serena Deeb, Anna Jay and Jamie Hayter.
