Ruby Soho Recovering from Surgery to Correct a Broken Nose

0

Ruby Soho is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to correct a broken nose she suffered last month.

Soho and Ortiz challenged Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Titles at the AEW All Out ‘Zero Hour’ pre-show back on September. The finish occured when Conti picked up Soho in a ‘backpack’ position and pulled her down for a knee to the face.

Soho’s nose was bloodied during the spot. After the match, she was helped to the back by referee Rick Knox. She later announced that her nose was broken and she’d be undergoing surgery.

Ruby Soho issued a video statement on September 22nd announcing that her injury would prevent her from appearing for the UK’s 1PW promotion.

“Due to the injury that I received at All Out, a broken nose in two places and a mess of a septum, I have to have surgery and due to the scheduling of that surgery and the recovery time, I won’t be able to make it to the show on October 1st.

You guys, I’m really, really sorry that I’m not gonna be there. Honestly, this is the only thing that would keep me from coming back to England.”

Surgery, Recovery

On Tuesday, October 4, Soho checked in with an update. She posted a ‘post-op’ photo of herself and said she’s eagerly awaiting the change to breathe normally again.

SEScoops wishes Ruby Soho a speedy recovery.

Antonio Inoki Made Honorary Lifetime Chairman of New Japan Pro Wrestling

0

New Japan Pro Wrestling has honored the life and legacy of Antonio Inoki, making him the lifetime chairman of the promotion.

Inoki founded the promotion in 1972 and remained on as the owner until 2005 when he sold a 51.5% controlling share of the company to Yuke’s.

Inoki died last week at the age of 79 after a battle with systemic transthyretin amyloidosis.

Lifetime Chairman

In a statement on New Japan’s website, it was confirmed that Inoki has been dubbed the honorary lifetime chairman of the promotion.

This declaration was made while Inoki was alive on September 1, 2022, and was due to be publicly announced on October 10.

The announcement cannot take place as previously planned due to Inoki passing, but in the statement, New Japan vowed to follow Inoki’s wishes.

“In accordance with Mr. Inoki’s wishes, all of us at New Japan Pro-Wrestling will continue to move forward and lead the professional wrestling world to the utmost of our abilities.”

Inoki Out of the Ring

Antonio Inoki may be best known to wrestling fans as the founder of NJPW and first IWGP Heavyweight Champion but he did much more outside the ring.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Inoki entered politics in 1989, when he was elected into Japan’s House of Councillors as a representative of his Sports and Peace Party.

In 1990, Inoki negotiated with Saddam Hussein, for the release of Japanese hostages before the outbreak of the Gulf War.

A series of scandals ended Inoki’s political career in 1995, but he would return to politics in Japan’s Upper House as an MP from 2013 to 2019.

Drew McIntyre Is Not A Fan Of Logan Paul Getting A World Title Shot

0

WWE’s decision to put Logan Paul in a world title match at Crown Jewel has divided fan opinion. Drew McIntyre seems to be opposed to the idea of the YouTube star getting a world title shot without working his way up the card.

The former WWE champion recently had an interview with MySanantonio.com. He talked about things such as his match against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle.

Speaking about the upcoming match between Paul and Roman Reigns, McIntyre said that he understands the celebrity involvement. However, he then explained that the title should be reserved for people who have put in the time:

“Logan Paul has done a great job, but I don’t know about fighting for the titles. I think the titles should be reserved for people who worked up the card and put the time in.

It will be a spectacle and Roman will smash him and people will talk about it.” said Drew McIntyre, “That is what it is all about, I guess.”

The Scottish Warrior then claimed that he will do exactly the same and work his way up to get another chance to win the WWE Universal championship. He will beat the entire Bloodline to get his hands on the world title again.

Apart from this, Drew McIntyre talked about things such as Vince McMahon retiring from WWE and more. You can check out his full interview here.

Andrade Says He Feels Stuck in AEW – Praises Triple H

0

Andrade El Idolo isn’t afraid to make his feelings clear about All Elite Wrestling amid reports of an exit.

In recent weeks, Andrade has teased departing the promotion, including using the #FreeElIdolo hashtag on social media.

Andrade has also liked and retweeted comments saying he has underutilized in Tony Khan’s first promotion.

El Idolo will face Preston ’10’ Vance in a career vs. mask match on this Friday’s AEW Rampage.

Stuck

Speaking to Más Lucha, El Idolo addressed his current situation with All Elite Wrestling.

El Idolo, who’s yet to hold gold in AEW, confirmed that he is still with the company, but laughed when he asked how he feels about AEW.

Andrade believed he would grow in AEW, but currently feels stuck in the company.

He did comment that he is signed to a great contract and schedule.

A WWE Return?

With the AEW star teasing an exit, many believe that he is hoping to return to WWE.

A former NXT Champion and United States Champion, Andrade is a name WWE would likely try and sign, given that Triple H is now head of Talent Relations.

Speaking about the Game, Andrade said that Triple H was a big supporter of his during his time in WWE, and is thankful for all the help he received from the WWE Hall of Famer.

Andrade added that while he cannot speak with Triple H or WWE directly, he can indirectly communicate through his wife and current WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair.

A full recap of the interview can be found here.

Another AEW Star may have Teased Leaving the Promotion

0

AEW may be losing its ‘Chairman’ soon enough going by a recent tweet by Shawn Spears.

On Twitter, Spears tweeted a simple “goodbye” which many saw as him teasing his exit from the promotion.

Spears’ tweet did not last long, as it was quickly deleted, feeling fan speculation that he was teasing an exit, and had been told to delete his tweet.

Shortly after, Sammy Guevara tweeted in response to Spears “You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful b*tch.”

It has been suggested that Spears could be looking for an extended break from AEW, as his wife Cassie Lee is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Departures

Spears has teased an AEW exit, and he’s not the only one who may want out.

In recent weeks, Andrade El Idolo has teased leaving AEW, and will put his career on the line against Preston ’10’ Vance’s mask on this week’s Rampage.

Miro has also teased an exit, liking tweets suggesting that he would do better in WWE.

Shawn Spears

Spears joined AEW in 2019 at the company’s debut Pay Per View, ‘Double or Nothing,’ coming up short in the Casino Battle Royal.

After his signing was confirmed in June, Spears would establish himself as a heel at Fyter Fest, hitting Cody Rhodes in the head with a chair, busting the American Nightmare open.

Calling himself the ‘Chairman’ of AEW, Spears aligned with Tully Blanchard and would use a loaded glove, gifted by Blanchard to pick up victories.

After a lengthy absence, Spears returned to TV in March 2021, aligning with FTR, Wardlow, and MJF to become ‘The Pinnacle.’

When Wardlow split from the group, the heavyweight would face Spears in a Steel Cage match on the May 25, 2022, AEW Dynamite, which Wardlow won.

Jake Roberts Praises Paul Bearer’s Influence on The Undertaker’s Character

0

On the most recent episode of the DDP Snake Pit podcast (from AdFreeShows), Jake “The Snake” Roberts had glowing compliments for the late Percy Pringle, better known to wrestling fans as Paul Bearer, on an episode focused on The Undertaker.

Roberts on Bearer managing The Undertaker: “Excellent”

The Undertaker
“The Undertaker”

Guest host Jon Alba asked Roberts – solo this week without usual partner “Diamond” Dallas Page – his thoughts on the pairing of Bearer and The Undertaker. He said “excellent” mainly because, “Not at any time did Paul Bearer exceed his protégé,” (9:30) adding that Bearer always made sure The Undertaker was the focus.

Roberts then went on to decry overactive managers. He said some managers try to steal the show by what they do outside of the ring. “Jumping up and down or antagonizing some fan or constantly reaching into the ring and grabbing somebody’s leg, if you do that all the time it’s just b******t” (9:55).

Roberts on Bearer’s importance to The Undertaker

The Undertaker
The Undertaker

Roberts then began to explain how Bearer’s managerial skills helped put over The Undertaker as a character. He noted that Bearer would always go back to his spot and that would signal to the fans that he had confidence in The Undertaker. Roberts added that Bearer’s presence signaled he had no worries about the outcome of the match and that nobody could beat The Undertaker.

Roberts said during the time the two were a tag team, Bearer would always “stay in the background, out of camera view” (11:08) so that the two wrestlers would have the spotlight. He gave effusive praise to Bearer for how he handled Roberts’ character, selling the snake even though they were tag team partners.

Roberts also gave Mark Calaway a lot of credit for The Undertaker’s in-ring success. Roberts said, “It was tremendously hard to work that gimmick. You’d think it would be easy, but it wasn’t, to do it right” (13:40). He noted Calaway did the gimmick right even through the no-sells and fans always anticipating the sit up during his matches

Check out the rest of Roberts’ discussion on his experiences working with The Undertaker on the DDP Snake Pit podcast.

Andrade El Idolo Claims Former TNT Champion Complained Backstage Because He Hit Him Too Hard

0

Andrade El Idolo is scheduled to put his AEW career on the line against 10 (Preston Vance) of Dark Oder. If Andrade loses the match, he must leave All Elite Wrestling forever. However, if El Idolo wins, then 10 must remove his mask forever.

The 32-year-old recently was interviewed by Más Lucha about various topics. At one point during the discussion, Andrade brought up former TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. Sammy recently had a backstage altercation with Eddie Kingston following one of his promos leading up to All Out.

Eddie was suspended following the altercation for two weeks and the match at All Out was postponed Sammy decided to release a statement shortly after and called Eddie unprofessional. AEW has seemingly spun the drama into a storyline as the two wrestled at Rampage: Grand Slam, with Sammy picking up the win via DQ to continue the feud.

Andrade spoke about an issue he had with Sammy backstage as well and claimed that the 29-year-old complained backstage because he hit him too hard. The interview was in Spanish but has been translated by a Twitter user below. El Idolo stated that Sammy complained backstage about it and he settled the matter using words. Andrade added that Sheamus hits people hard in WWE and nobody complains about it.

Sammy Guevara hopped on Twitter a few hours ago and sent out the following tweet. He didn’t mention anyone by name but the timing leads one to believe he’s talking about Andrade.

Andrade requested his release from WWE in March 2021. He debuted in All Elite Wrestling on June 4 last year and hasn’t done much in the promotion thus far. The former NXT Champion has been using the hashtag #FreeElIdolo on social media lately, and the announcement of the Career vs. Mask match on Rampage has led many fans to believe his time with the promotion may be coming to an end.

Watch: Top Stars Brawl After Raw Goes Off Air

Seth Rollins and Riddle continued their very personal rivalry on this week’s episode of Raw and the build-up for their match continued even after the show went off air.

The main event of this week’s episode of the brand saw Io Sky defeating Alexa Bliss in a one-on-one match with help from her Damage CTRL partners. An injured Asuka tried to save both Bliss and Bianca Belair from a post-match beatdown.

The WWE faction, however, managed to get the upper hand. The show ended with a shot of Bayley, IO Sky and Dakota Kai all holding championship gold on top of a ladder.

What Happened After Raw Went Off Air

Both Riddle and Seth Rollins were featured in a very personal promo segment on the show. Daniel Cormier also made an appearance on the Titan Tron and said that he’ll see them both in Philadelphia.

The on-air segment ended with Rollins knocking Riddle’s hat and heading to the back. Though this wasn’t the end of the night for these stars and they were involved in a brawl after the cameras stopped rolling:

Balor planted Rey with a few Suplexes as Rhea and Dominik laughed ringside. Rey was trapped in the ring for several minutes as Judgment Day took turns beating him down. AJ finally got the tag and unloaded a Clothesline to Damian. AJ set up for the Styles Clash but Damian shoved The Phenomenal One to the outside as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Judgment Day was back in control and Damian had AJ locked in a submission hold in the middle of the ring. AJ escaped and crawled towards the ropes but Rhea dragged Rey off the ring apron. Balor tagged in but AJ caught him with a DDT in the middle of the ring.

Dominik dared Rey to hit him outside the ring but he declined. Rhea shoved Rey into the stairs as Balor hit AJ with the Coup de Grace for the pinfall victory. Bobby Lashley def. Mustafa Ali To Retain The US Title, Seth Rollins Attacked The Champion, Title Match Set For Next Week

Mustafa Ali confronted United States Champion Bobby Lashley backstage tonight on RAW. Ali wanted an opportunity at the title and Lashley shrugged him off. Mustafa then demanded a title shot and Bobby accepted.

Bobby Lashley defended the United States Championship against Mustafa Ali at the end of the first hour of RAW. Lashley drove Ali to the corner and planted him with a Neckbreaker. The champion dragged Lashley out of the ring and leveled him with a Clothesline as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, the United States Champion was still in control of the match and launched Ali into the turnbuckle. Bobby perched the challenger up on the top turnbuckle and set up for a Superplex but Ali escaped.

Mustafa hit a headbutt and then a 450 Splash onto the champion’s injured arm. Ali followed it up with a Dropkick but Bobby responded with a slam for a two count. Lashley hit another slam but Mustafa wouldn’t stay down. Bobby shouted at Mustafa to stay down and the challenger responded with a slap to the face.

Lashley launched Ali out of the ring and followed him out there. Bobby bashed Mustafa’s face into the ring post multiple times and broke the count to ensure he could inflict more punishment. Bobby launched Ali over the barricade and Mustafa made it back into the ring at the count of nine. Lashley hit a Spear and applied the Hurt Lock until Ali passed out.

After the match, Seth Rollins attacked the United States Champion from behind. Seth hit Lashley with a Stomp on top of the United States Championship. Rollins delivered another Stomp to Mustafa Ali outside the ring.

Later on RAW, Kevin Patrick interviewed Bobby Lashley backstage. Bobby said that he wants Riddle to beat the hell out of Rollins this Saturday at Extreme Rules. Bobby then announced that he will defend the US Title against Seth Rollins next week on RAW.

Seth brought up the fact that Riddle can’t see his kids anymore and Riddle responded by saying Rollins’ breath smelled.

Matt noted that Seth hasn’t main evented WrestleMania yet his wife Becky Lynch has. Riddle added that Seth will be coming in 2nd again this Saturday at Extreme Rules. UFC legend Daniel Cormier appeared on the screen and said that he respects Riddle because he’s a former UFC fighter. Cormier added that he admires Rollins but the entire is fed up with him. Rollins and Riddle had a stare down before Seth exited to end the segment.

Dakota Kai def. Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae battled Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL tonight on RAW. Bayley and IYO SKY were ringside for the match. Before the match, Dexter Lumis appeared behind The Miz backstage again.

Dakota controlled the match early and sent Candice out of the ring as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, LeRae was in control and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Candice connected with a German Suplex but IYO and Bayley from Damage CTRL provided a distraction. Dakota capitalized and rolled up Candice for the pinfall victory.

Otis def. Johnny Gargano

Otis battled Johnny Gargano tonight on RAW. Chad Gable and Money in the Bank winner Austin Theory were ringside for the match. Otis controlled the match early but Johnny Wrestling battled back. His offense was short-lived as the big man put him down with a Powerslam for the pinfall victory. Theory and Alpha Academy beat Gargano down after the match.

Damage CTRL Attacked Alexa & Asuka During The Contract Signing For The RAW Women’s Championship

Corey Graves moderated the contract signing for the RAW Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules. Bianca Belair will put the title on the line in a Ladder match against Bayley at the Premium Live Event on October 8th.

The Role Model said she was thinking big picture and stated that the ladder is symbolic for her entire WWE career. Bayley claimed that she had to climb to get to the top, unlike Bianca Belair. Bayley brought up her babyface character and the fans used to wear headbands and pull their ponytail to the side.

She ranted about the fans giving up on her until The EST interrupted. Bianca signed the contract and told Bayley that she shouldn’t compare herself to her. Belair stated that it didn’t work for Bayley because she was pretending to be someone that she is not and the fans connect to her because she’s authentic. Bianca added that Bayley is out here now showing everyone her true colors. Bayley asked what time it was and cameras cut to Damage CTRL attacking Alexa and Asuka backstage.

Bayley attacked the RAW Women’s Champion and knocked her out of the ring. Bianca launched Bayley into the ring apron and sprinted backstage. Bayley laughed as cameras cut to Bianca checking on Alexa and Asuka backstage. Damage CTRL apparently got Asuka’s leg in a steel chair and stomped on it. Alexa Bliss then challenged IYO SKY to a match later tonight.

Solo Sikoa def. Angelo Dawkins

When RAW returned, Sikoa connected with a Samoan Drop as Sami and The Usos cheered him on from ringside. Solo beat Angelo down in the corner for several minutes and posed in the ring as Montez fired up Dawkins. Angelo hit a n Enziguri out of nowhere and followed it up with a few Clotheslines.

Solo hit a Superkick but the referee was distracted by Jey and Sami arguing on the ring apron. Montez laid out Sami ringside as Sikoa hit the Spinning Solo Uranage for the pinfall victory.

Edge Warned The Judgment Day

Edge cut a promo backstage tonight on RAW. He spoke about being forced to retire at 37-year-old and how he’s returned because he cannot quit. The Rated-R Superstar stated that this is his dream gig and he loves this, but it is starting to take a toll on his family. He brought up his I Quit match against Finn Balor at Extreme Rules. Edge stated that The Judgment Day cannot physically hurt him enough to make him quit and said “I hope you are all ready for a war because I sure am” to close the promo.

Damage CTRL Sent A Message As RAW Went Off The Air

Alexa Bliss battled IYO SKY of Damage CTRL in tonight’s main event. RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair accompanied Bliss to the ring for the match. Dakota Kai and Bayley accompanied IYO to the ring. Bliss sent IYO to the corner and stomped on her to start off the action.

IYO responded with a Dragon Screw and focused her attack on Alexa’s leg. Alexa battled back with a Suplex for a two count as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Alexa hit a Russian Leg Sweep for a near fall.

SKY hit a Backbreaker in the middle of the ring and followed it up with Double Knees to the face. IYO hopped to the top rope and went for a Moonsault but Alexa got out of the way. Alexa hit a DDT and made her way to the top turnbuckle. Bliss climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit Twisted Bliss.

Bayley provided a distraction and then brawled with Bianca ringside. Kai and Bayley launched Bianca into the steel steps. Back in the ring, IYO battled back and hit the Moonsault for the pinfall victory. Damage CTRL attacked after the match and brought a kendo stick and a ladder into the ring. Asuka went for the save but Damage CTRL beat her down as well. Bayley, IYO, and Dakota then posed on the ladder in the middle of the ring as RAW went off the air.

Breakdown of WWE’s Latest White Rabbit Clues

0

WWE dropped some more clues for the White Rabbit mystery during the October 3rd edition of RAW.

For the past several weeks, the 1967 song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane has been played randomly at live events or during commercial breaks on RAW or SmackDown.

A QR code originally appeared behind Austin Theory before his singles match against Kevin Owens on a recent episode of RAW. The code took fans to a secret WWE website with a game of Hang Man. The question posed was “Who killed the world?” and the answer provided was “YOU DID”.

Additional codes have been provided recently, including one of this past Friday’s edition of SmackDown that featured a cartoon pig and a big bad wolf. You can check out our deep dive on WWE’s White Rabbit here.

More White Rabbit Clues Appear Tonight On WWE RAW

During this week’s edition of RAW, another QR code briefly appeared on the screen. When scanned, the code takes fans to a painting of Samson and Deliah. There is a number on the image that when googled takes you to White Rabbit milk.

WWE fans are already hard at work to try and solve the latest clues. Fox’s Ryan Satin has posted several images from the new clues dropped tonight on RAW. A code provided in the latest set of clues reveals the date of WWE Extreme Rules (October 8th).

Many fans pointed out that the QR code appeared shortly after Alexa Bliss appeared on RAW.

Bray Wyatt tweeted out the following image last year and the latest code reminded some fans of the post.

What do you make of the new clues? Let us know in the comments section below.

WWE Teasing Heel Turn for Top Star

0

It looks like a heel turn is coming for a top WWE star, and that’s AJ Styles, following this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Styles and Rey Mysterio lost a tag team match to Damian Priest and Finn Balor on the show. The finish happened when Mysterio was preoccupied with Dominik at ringside, and this distraction allowed Rhea Ripley to take out Rey at ringside Styles fought the final moments of the match by himself.

The Angle

AJ Styles
(via WWE)

Post-match, Styles was upset with Mysterio and shoved him. Styles was then attacked by The Judgment Day. Balor could be heard yelling at Styles to listen to him and join his group, which is similar to what he did during the weeks before Dominik joined them.

This would imply that the company is hinting that Styles will eventually turn on Mysterio and join The Judgment Day in the near future.

As previously reported, WWE is planning to give Balor a big push shortly, which makes his I Quit match more interesting against Edge at this Saturday’s Extreme Rules event in Philadelphia, PA.

Montez Ford Dealing With an Injury

0

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Montez Ford is injured. The news was kept quiet until this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

In a backstage segment, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and Sami Zayn bumped into The Street Profits. Zayn gave a “warning” to Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins to let them know that they would need to acknowledge Roman Reigns next week.

The Reveal

https dailyddt.com files 2022 01 The Street Profits

Jey Uso told Ford to go ahead and say something disrespectful; he’d put his other foot in a boot. The camera panned down to show Ford’s right foot in a tall walking boot. A match ended up being set between Sikoa and Dawkins was set up for Raw.

The last time Ford and Dawkins wrestled was on the September 24 house show against Alpha Academy. Although not confirmed, that could be when he suffered the injury, or it may have been something the fan favorite star has been dealing with for a while.

There is no word on the severity of the injury or how long he might be out of action. We wish him a speedy recovery. It will be interesting to see if WWE keeps Dawkins on television while Ford is on the sidelines.

Several WWE NXT Stars Wrestled Before Monday’s Raw

0

An entire group of WWE NXT stars got the chance to work in front of a large crowd for the first time in their careers at Monday’s Raw for the Main Event taping.

On WWE Main Event, Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen, and Fallon Henley will appear on this week’s episode.

The Young Stars Shine

briggs and jensen NXT

Fallon Henley had a match against Dana Brooke, while Briggs & Jensen faced R-Truth & Shelton Benjamin in a tag team match. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen were victorious in their effort, but it’s unclear who won the women’s bout.

It’s unclear what WWE plans for these stars, but it certainly appears Triple H and officials wanted a closer look at these NXT wrestlers on the big stage after getting over in developmental as babyfaces.

It’s been reported that another expected main roster call-up is likely for another NXT faction, Legado Del Fantasma, after Santos Escobar lost a match to Tony D’Angelo, who saw him banished from NXT.

On the NXT 2.0 premiere, Briggs and Jensen formed a tag team. While together, they became the NXT UK Tag Team Champions, making them the first non-European tag team to win the titles.

Big Title Match Confirmed For Anniversary Edition Of AEW Dynamite

0

This Wednesday AEW will be celebrating its three-year anniversary for their flagship program of Dynamite, which began its run on TNT and has since moved to TBS. While the lineup was already pretty stacked a major title matchup has since been added.

Wardlow took to Twitter this evening to issue an open challenge for Dynamite, with Mr. Mayhem adding that he will be putting his coveted TNT championship on the line. The champ writes, “I dare someone to challenge me for the TNT title this Wednesday at the anniversary show. Someone remotely close to my level. Just show up, I’ll be waiting.”

It wouldn’t take long for someone to respond Wardlow…and that person was Brian Cage. The Machine has been noticeably absent from weekly AEW programming for some time aside from a few appearances on the company’s Youtube shows Dark: Elevation and Dark. Cage did join forces with Tully Blanchard at ROH Supercard of Honor, but Blanchard has since departed from the company.

Tony Khan would later confirm the matchup for AEW fans, one that many have been asking for due to each man’s impressive athleticism and build.

Below is an updated lineup for the three-year anniversary edition of Dynamite:

-Wardlow defends the TNT championship against Brian Cage

-Adam “Hangman” Page vs. RUSH

-Sammy Guevara & Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Garcia & Bryan Danielson

-Wheeler Yuta vs. MJF

-Jay Lethal vs. Darby Allin

-A celebration of National Scissoring Day from The Acclaimed

Drew McIntyre Was Concerned Fans Would Riot After WWE Clash at the Castle Headliner

0

Drew McIntyre faced off against Roman Reigns at the WWE Clash at the Castle event for the Undisputed Universal Championship in Cardiff, Wales.

Solo Sikoa made his main roster debut and helped Reigns win the match. This surprised some fans as many felt the event was built around McIntyre winning the title in the stadium.

While speaking with My San Antonio, McIntyre said he was happy with the atmosphere that fans generated but admitted he was concerned that fans would riot after the match because of the finish.

McIntyre Opens up on his Concern

Drew McIntyre

“But they [fans] were 100 percent for me and against Roman and the atmosphere was great. I even asked Roman afterwards – because he has been a part of these matches with big crowds – have you heard anything like that, and he said ‘No.’ You’d be hard-pressed to find a crowd that was that loud consistently throughout, especially our match. It was a World Cup soccer match the way they were shouting — the way they were singing their songs and chanting ‘F-U Roman’ the entire time. And they were not happy with that finish. I was generally concerned about rioting.”

McIntyre will battle Karrion Kross in a strap match at Saturday’s Extreme Rules event. Reigns will defend his title against Logan Paul at Crown Jewel next month.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan Reacts To Being Left Off Extreme Rules Poster

0

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan is scheduled to put the title on the line against Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules match at the Premium Live Event on October 8th.

Liv became a fan favorite leading up to WWE Money in the Bank and the 28-year-old won the ladder match to earn a future title shot. She wasted no time cashing in and defeated Ronda to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the same night. The Baddest Woman on the Planet had just successfully defended the title against Natalya when Liv decided to cash in.

The two stars met again at WWE SummerSlam in a match that ended in controversy. It appeared that Liv had tapped out but Ronda’s shoulders were down during the submission move and the referee counted to three. Ronda went crazy after the match, attacked Liv and the referee, and was subsequently suspended.

She recently returned to SmackDown to announce that her suspension was lifted and also got WWE Official Adam Pearce in an armbar. Pearce announced over the weekend that he will be returning to WWE tonight. Ronda won a Fatal 5-Way on the September 9th episode of SmackDown to earn a title shot at Extreme Rules.

Liv Morgan Reacts To Being Left Off WWE Extreme Rules Poster

The official WWE on BT Sport tweeted out an Extreme Rules poster to hype the event that only featured Ronda Rousey on it. SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan quickly responded and told the company that they can keep their s***** poster.

I was never supposed to be your girl @WWE but the people made me THEIR girl. Keep ur s***** poster.

A wrestling fan created a poster featuring the SmackDown Women’s Champion and Liv retweeted the image and tagged WWE.

Liv Morgan defeated Lacey Evans on the September 23rd episode of SmackDown. After the match, the champion put Lacey on a table and climbed to the top rope. She connected with a Senton through the table and said that she is “ready to get Extreme” to the camera. A wrestling legend questioned the booking of Lacey Evans and you can check that out here.

Jey Uso Warns Sami Zayn As Tension Grows Within The Bloodline

0

Roman Reigns officially made Sami Zayn the Honorary Uce of The Bloodline on a recent edition of SmackDown and Jey Uso isn’t having it.

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns told Solo Sikoa that he answers to him now and the former NXT North American Champion acknowledged his Tribal Chief. As The Bloodline was about to exit the ring, Sami stopped them and acknowledged The Tribal Chief as well.

Reigns then made it seem like he was going to kick Sami out of the group and instructed Jey to rip Sami’s Bloodline T-shirt off and Jey obliged. The Tribal Chief presented Zayn with the new Honorary Uce shirt and Jey was beside himself.

The Honorary Uce took to Twitter a couple of days ago and sent a message to his fellow Bloodline member. Sami used a screen shot of Jey’s face when the Honorary Uce was given his new shirt by the Tribal Chief.

Some people have endured a lot & as a result, have a hard time trusting others. They find it hard to believe others could be doing things for the right reasons, often believing there must be ulterior motives. Though it can be frustrating, it’s important to be understanding.

Jey Uso Responds To Sami Zayn

Jey Uso responded to Sami’s message earlier today on The Usos’ official Twitter account. He claimed that the hard times he has gone through in his life have sharpened him. The tag team champion added that trust is earned in The Bloodline and he sees through Sami Zayn.

The hard times sharpened me. Trust is earned in my family. I See Thru u… -Jey

Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa have recently bonded on SmackDown. The two teamed up together on this past Friday’s episode of the blue brand and defeated Madcap Moss and Ricochet in a tag team match.

Potential Spoiler on Plans for Charlotte Flair’s WWE Return

0

Charlotte Flair has been out of action for several months, and fans have waited to see her return. It seems that day is coming sooner than later.

“The Queen” hasn’t been seen in action since she lost an I Quit match to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash. The company wrote her off television with an arm injury after Ronda Rousey made her tap to an armbar through a chair. This was done as she took time off to get married to Andrade El Idolo.

Charlotte Flair Hints at a Potential Feud

Charlotte Flair

Over the weekend, Flair asked about her next move in WWE during an appearance on WWE’s Most Extreme Moments Countdown special on FOX. Flair stated that she has had her eye on Bianca Belair and the Raw Women’s Title.

This has led to speculation that this may be the direction that WWE goes once Flair returns. It’s still unclear when Flair will be returning.

Extreme Rules is coming up on Saturday, which could present a perfect opportunity to make that happen. Belair will defend the Raw Women’s Title against Bayley in a ladder match at this event.

Flair is booked for an autograph signing in New York City at the Big Event this November.

Barstool’s Dave Portnoy Mistakes Tony Khan & “Snake” Nick Khan

0

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has mistaken the two Khans in professional wrestling.

All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan has appeared on Barstool’s Wrasslin’ show with Brandon Walker several times. AEW star MJF has the highest viewed videos on the show’s YouTube channel and makes sure to let Brandon know about it every time he appears on his show.

Barstool’s CEO Erika Nardini joined the WWE Board of Directors in 2020 to become the third female member of the then 12-person board. Earlier this month, Erika resigned from the company to focus more on her responsibilities at Barstool.

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H recently sat down with Barstool competitor LADBible for an interview. It all may be a coincidence, but one thing is for certain, Dave Portnoy is not a fan of WWE co-CEO Nick Khan.

Nick Khan Complains About Barstool Van Talk

In 2017, ESPN brought on popular Barstool Sports personalities Big Cat and PFT Commenter. They host the very successful Pardon My Take podcast and the worldwide leader in sports wanted to capitalize and connect with a younger audience. The show was ordered for a twenty-week run.

‘Barstool Van Talk’ aired for one glorious week before it was shelved, and Big Cat & PFT were sent out the door. It was reported that Nick Khan, who worked as a CAA talent agent at the time, sent screenshots to then ESPN president John Skipper of controversial posts by Barstool in the past.

Following its cancelation, former ESPN President John Skipper issued a statement and claimed that ESPN could not distance itself from Barstool’s “controversial” past.

“Effective immediately, I am cancelling Barstool Van Talk. While we had approval on the content of the show, I erred in assuming we could distance our efforts from the Barstool site and its content. Apart from this decision, we appreciate the efforts of Big Cat and PFT Commenter. They delivered the show they promised.”

Dave Portnoy Mistakes The Khans

Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy has lived the American dream. He took his small self-published newspaper in Boston all the way to one of the most popular websites on the planet. The website has become such a destination that Hall of Famers like Deion Sanders are opting to work there over the NFL Network.

There are two things one you can count on when it comes to Dave Portnoy, almost everything he touches turns to gold and he holds a grudge better than everyone. Robbie Fox of Barstool announced that he will be interviewing Tony Khan today and El Presidente thought Tony was WWE co-CEO Nick Khan and fired off some insults.

“When he got Barstool Van Talk cancelled why did he then invite me to sit next to him at a fight at MSG as his guest and pretend that I didn’t know he was responsible? Did he think I was stupid or that I’d just forget or is he just that two faced?”

Dan Katz (AKA Big Cat) responded that Nick Khan was the one that got it canceled and not Tony. The AEW President chimed in and said “2 more different people we could not be” before promoting Dynamite and Rampage this week.

Portnoy apologized for confusing the two and called the WWE CEO a “snake”. Portnoy added Nick is full of s*** and Tony is the Khan that the company likes.

WWE Superstar Bringing Back Old Gimmick Very Soon

0

Another WWE Superstar is gearing up for a character refresh. In this case, it will be an old persona returning.

As seen on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Max Dupri abandoned the Maximum Male Models faction, leaving many to wonder what’s next for the former NXT star. Some have suggested we’ll see him bring back his previous gimmick, LA Knight and they are correct. LA Knight is already listed as such on the company’s internal roster, according to a report at PWInsider.

To the fans of Maximum Male Models, don’t worry. Maxine, Mace and Mansoor will continue in their current roles.

LA Knight in WWE

Prior to his time in the big leagues, LA Knight wrestled as Eli Drake for Impact Wrestling (2015-2019) and later the National Wrestling Alliance (2019-2021).

He signed with WWE in 2021 and joined the NXT roster, where he spent nearly a year. The highlight of his NXT run saw him winning Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Championship.

Knight was called up to WWE’s main roster back in April. He left LA Knight behind, dubbed himself Max Dupri and introduced the world to Maximum Male Models. That group will live on, but Knight appears to have had enough after last week’s episode.

Triple H has wasted no time shaking things up as WWE’s new head of creative and talent relations. Dupri reverting to LA Knight is just the latest change under the new regime.

It will be interesting to see how soon we see the LA Knight character back on TV, with the likelihood being this week. In case you’re unfamiliar with Knight, here was his introduction to the WWE Universe:

Former WWE Superstar Spotted At Performance Center

0

Another former WWE Superstar may be on his way back to the world’s top pro wrestling promotion. Biff Busick, formerly known as Oney Lorcan in WWE/NXT, was spotted at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL this week. He’s been working as a guest coach at WWE’s training facility, according to PWInsider. Performance Center as a Guest Coach over the next few days.

Busick signed a developmental deal with the promotion in 2015. He debuted in NXT in 2016 and formed a tag team with former NXT star Danny Burch. He competed in NXT, NXT UK, and on 205 Live during his time as a member of WWE’s active roster.

During WrestleMania 38 weekend, Busick battled AEW World Champion Jon Moxley at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 8. Moxley picked up the victory after connecting with a Deathrider and choking Busick out.

WWE released Busick last year on November 4th. Following his release, the 36-year-old wrestled on the independent scene for several promotions including GCW, PWG, and Beyond Wrestling. In a since-deleted tweet, he announced that he was taking some time away from the ring in July.

Before signing with WWE, Busick trained with Lance Storm and Sho Funaka. He wrestled in Combat Zone Wrestling for three years before joining Evolve.

After working at PWG from 2014 – 2015, he signed with WWE. He wrested as “The Carolina Panther” against The Great Khali on the New Year’s Day episode of SmackDown in 2010.

WWE had No World Title Plans for Cody Rhodes Before Injury

0

Cody Rhodes may not be as destined to be a WWE World Champion as first thought, despite his booking since returning to the company.

Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania: Saturday in April 2022 and was booked incredibly well before his injury in June.

The American Nightmare has spoken about his intention to become a World Champion in WWE, fulfilling a promise to his late-father Dusty Rhodes.

Not Championship Material?

Between this promise and Cody’s booking, many believe it’s just a matter of time before Rhodes holds a World Championship, a feat he didn’t accomplish in AEW.

Cody is the arguable favorite among fans to dethrone Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, but that may not be the case.

Fightful Select reports that when WWE rehired Rhodes, Vince McMahon had no concrete plans in place for Rhodes to become WWE or Universal Champion.

While many in the company assumed it would happen eventually, Fightful note that “no firm plans” were in place.

Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes wasn’t going to dethrone Roman Reigns prior to his injury, but WWE didn’t plan on anyone else doing the honors.

In their report, Fightful add that McMahon was “all on board” with Reigns unifying the WWE and Universal Championships at WrestleMania: Sunday.

It’s also noted that no ideas were suggested to McMahon that would have resulted in Reigns losing either title, prior to Vince’s retirement in July this year.

Reigns will face Logan Paul at WWE Crown Jewel next month, with either Rhodes or The Rock expected to face him at WrestleMania 39.

MJF Vows To Never Wrestle ‘Slob’ Eddie Kingston

0

MJF has no interest in wrestling Eddie Kingston, who he calls a “slob.”

Recently, a fan took to Twitter to tell MJF that he wants to see him wrestle against fellow All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Eddie Kingston. However, MJF said he’ll never wrestle against Kingston, who he calls a “slob.”

MJF is one of the hottest topics in professional wrestling today. He made his long-awaited return at All Out in September as the Joker in the Casino Ladder match, winning the bout. Now, he has a guaranteed title shot against the AEW World Champion at a time of his choosing.

While he waits for the perfect opportunity to pounce, MJF has aligned himself with Stokely Hathaway and his faction on retainer, The Firm. He has also been very adamant about his intentions to test free agency once his contract with AEW is up.

MJF

MJF will be a free agent in 2024, and will be selling his services to the highest bidder. Of course, that means he could potentially be looking at WWE as a legitimate landing spot when the time comes.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up when it’s all said and done in 2024.

Raquel Rodriguez Names Hall Of Famer She Would Like To Face

0

WWE has found a resident giant for the women’s roster in form of Raquel Rodriguez. Joining the wrestling world in 2014, the former NXT talent is already making strides in WWE’s women’s division. She has taken inspiration from many WWE Hall of Famers for her character. It’s no surprise that one of them is also her dream opponent.

One half of the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions recently had an interview with Under The Ring podcast. She first talked about her training days. Rodriguez named the people she watched to learn how to act in the ring:

“I did of course watch a lot of the bigger men and bigger women; I would watch a lot of Chyna. I would watch a lot of Beth Phoenix. I watched a lot of the Big Show, but one name in particular when I was just starting out at NXT was, of course, Stan Hansen. I love Stan Hansen, because he was just so wild and unruly.”

‘Absolute Gem Of A Human Being’: Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel Rodriguez was then asked which star from the wrestling history she would like to face if given a chance. The former NXT star unsurprisingly took the name of Beth Phoenix, saying that she would love to learn from The Glamazon:

“Oh I would love to step in the ring with Beth Phoenix. I’ve said this before she has been an inspiration to me, an idol. She represents strength and beauty and brawns. I think she is just an absolute gem of a human being. I would love to step in the ring and learn from her.
