Asuka Ready For WrestleMania in Japan, Godzilla Entrance

0

WrestleMania has never been held outside North America but fans are eager to see WWE’s biggest event go international. While fans and wrestlers have spoken at length about WrestleMania heading to the United Kingdom, Asuka is ready to see the Showcase of the Immortals head to her native Japan.

On X, a fan asked Asuka if she’d rather have her final match at WrestleMania or inside the legendary Tokyo Dome. The former Women’s Champion wanted both, as well as a special entrance featuring Godzilla.

While Asuka has big plans for a future WrestleMania, who record at the show of shows is surprisingly poor. Despite once being undefeated in WWE for over two years, Asuka remains winless at WrestleMania. Her first defeat in WWE came at WrestleMania 34, which didn’t just end her winning streak, but started off a new unfortunate streak at the event.

Asuka’s status at this year’s WrestleMania remains unclear as the Japanese star has been out of action since May 2024 due to a leg injury. While it remains to be seen when she’ll be back on our screens, Asuka continues to have fans talking with her social media antics, and her big plans for her retirement match.

Vic Joseph Discusses Reuniting With Corey Graves After Recent Controversy

0

Vic Joseph believes the chemistry between him, Booker T, and Corey Graves is only going to get better with time.

The Saviour of Misbehaviour made some headlines earlier this year when he was taken off the SmackDown commentary team and re-assigned to NXT. Graves saw the move as a demotion and vented frustration at being replaced by Pat McAfee on the main roster in a social media outburst. Things seem to have settled down since then, however, and Corey is now focusing on making the most out of this new opportunity.

During a recent interview with Getting Over podcast, Vic Joseph was asked about the Corey Graves situation and how big of a personal hill he thinks Graves needed to overcome to accept his new reality. Joseph explained that Corey needed to look at the whole thing from a different angle:

“I think he had to have a new set of eyes and you know, take a deep breath. [It’s] something we’ve always talked about…we used to travel in the car together. [It] was [like], ‘Hey man, it’d be cool to call the shows together one day.’ I think once he and I had the talk, like, ‘Dude, this is what we’ve always talked about.’ He was kind of like, ‘Yeah, you’re right.’”

Now He Can Take a Deep Breath: Vic Joseph

Vic Joseph then detailed an incident highlighting his long-term friendship with the fellow announcer. Speaking on the transition of going from a two-men booth on SmackDown to a three-men booth in NXT, the broadcast personality explained that it took a while for Corey Graves to get comfortable in the new dynamic:

“I always wore a bow tie, every WrestleMania. It’s a velour bow tie, people forget. I think I’ve told this story one time but Corey Graves gave me that as a gift at my very first WrestleMania. So we have that personal connection.

I think the difficulty [is] for Corey, and I think this is where you start to see that seamless transition. Now, he doesn’t have to do as much. Now he can take a deep breath. Now he can take a step back and understand that it is three of us, three unique individuals, three distinct personalities for one goal for one show. So it’s been getting better each and every week. And it’s only gonna get better.”

Why Natalya Wasn’t Shocked By John Cena’s WWE Heel Turn

0

The WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event ended in a truly shocking fashion as John Cena turned heel, aligning himself with The Rock. Speaking to the Toronto Sun, WWE veteran Natalya discussed the turn and why it came as a shock to many.

“John Cena has granted more Make-A-Wishes than anyone. If you look up ‘babyface’ in the dictionary, his picture is right next to it.”

Nobody expected this heel turn, Natalya added, unless you watched Total Divas. Reflecting on John’s often-controlling demeanor on the show, Natalya said that her experience with John on the show made his heel turn less of a surprise.

“I remember how strict John’s house rules were… He was one of those people who always had a coaster under their cup. So I knew a heel turn was coming, I could feel it a mile away.”

Fightful Select reports that while early rumors suggested The Rock initially wanted to turn heel alongside Cody Rhodes, Rhodes turned down the offer. There was also a plan for Cena to turn at WrestleMania 41 before WWE moved this shocking betrayal earlier in their plans.

Cena’s shocking victory inside the Elimination Chamber has set the stage for WrestleMania 41, where he will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. With Cena set to return to WWE television on the March 17 edition of Monday Night RAW, fans remain eager to here what John has to say about this turn to the dark side.

Lex Luger On WWE Hall of Fame Induction: ‘Filled With Gratitude’

0

Lex Luger is officially set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and now The Total Package himself has spoken out about the honor. After Triple H announced on March 7 that Luger would be part of the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class, the wrestling legend took to Twitter/X the following day to share his heartfelt reaction to the support of fans.

Luger’s career is certainly worthy of the Hall of Fame. In WWE, Luger captivated fans as the heel ‘narcissist’ character before becoming an All-American babyface in 1993. Though Luger never won a World Championship in WWE, Lex won the WCW World Title from Hollywood Hogan in 1996, marking Hogan’s first title loss since forming the NWO.

Beyond the ring, Luger’s journey has been one of perseverance. After suffering a spinal stroke in 2007 that left him partially paralyzed, he has battled through adversity, becoming an inspirational figure for fans and fellow wrestlers alike. His induction is not just about his in-ring accomplishments—it’s a recognition of his resilience and personal triumphs.

WWE Hall of Fame 2025

Luger is the third confirmed name for the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2025, joining Triple H and Michelle McCool. While The Natural Disasters have been reported for an induction, that has yet to be confimed by WWE. Though a specific date for the Hall of Fame has yet to be confirmed, fans can expect to see Luger take his place among some of wrestling’s all-time greats this April over WrestleMania week.

‘I Hope I Never See You’: Travis Scott Is In Hall of Famer’s Blacklist After Elimination Chamber

0

Bully Ray is pissed at Travis Scott’s involvement in John Cena’s heel turn.

The popular music star has received a lot of criticism in wrestling circles after the latest WWE PPV. People have questioned his involvement in the whole angle after reports that his slap led to a ruptured eardrum for Cody Rhodes at the show.

The WWE Hall of Famer was not shy on his thoughts on the matter during the latest Busted Open Radio. He claimed that Scott deserves to have his jaw shattered for what he did:

“Travis Scott deserves to have his jaw shattered and wired shut. It’s when the mark in the ring all of a sudden decides that he’s a pro wrestler and he knows what the hell he’s doing, and that mark is Travis Scott… Dude, because Travis Scott decided that he’s going to look like some tough guy in front of the world. You got one coming, Travis. I hope it’s from Cody. If it’s not from him, I hope I never see you one day.”

It’s worth mentioning that Cody Rhodes has seemingly downplayed the damage from Scott’s slap. The Rock also noted during the post-Elimination Chamber press conference that Travis wanted to get his hands bloody so he told the rap artist to ‘make it count.’

Despite the hate, it doesn’t appear we’ve seen the last of Travis Scott in WWE. The Rock has suggested that he has caught the wrestling bug after his appearance and he is training to get in the ring as a performer down the line.

Logan Paul Suplexes Joe Weller, Scores Header Goal in Sidemen Charity Match

0

Logan Paul brought WWE action to Wembley Stadium during the Sidemen Charity Match, delivering a suplex to Joe Weller in a goal celebration that quickly went viral. But first, he scored this header goal to put his team up 5-4.

After Weller converted a penalty to put Sidemen FC ahead against the YouTube All-Stars, he initially mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature “SUIII” celebration. However, things escalated when Paul, a WWE superstar, seized the moment to suplex Weller onto the pitch before pinning him, with teammates counting to three in true wrestling fashion.

The stunt, performed in front of a crowd of nearly 90,000, instantly became a social media sensation, with fans dubbing it one of the wildest goal celebrations ever. Despite Weller’s impressive performance, which included two goals, the YouTube All-Stars ultimately secured victory, winning 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 9-9 draw.

Paul, who last wrestled at Elimination Chamber, was among several high-profile content creators taking part in the charity event, including KSI, iShowSpeed, and Kai Cenat.

WWE Joins Netflix India on April 1, 2025: Streaming Details

0

WWE is making a major shift in India as its programming moves exclusively to Netflix on April 1, 2025. This transition marks the end of WWE’s long-standing partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and introduces a new streaming era for Indian wrestling fans.

For over two decades, Sony aired WWE’s flagship shows—Raw, SmackDown, and NXT—along with major Premium Live Events (PLEs) like WrestleMania and Royal Rumble. However, with WWE’s contract with Sony expiring on March 31, Netflix will take over as the exclusive home of WWE content in India.

This move is part of a 10-year, $5 billion deal between WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings, and Netflix. While Raw debuted on Netflix in multiple regions in January 2025, India’s transition was delayed due to Sony’s existing rights. Now, Indian fans will have live access to Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and all major PLEs, with the added feature of live Hindi commentary. Netflix will also provide on-demand access to WWE’s vast content library.

While this move excites many fans, questions remain about accessibility, as Netflix operates on a premium subscription model. However, with WWE embracing streaming and Netflix expanding into live sports, this partnership marks a new era for wrestling in India.

Carmella Explains WWE Contract Mystery

0

Carmella has explained how it’s possible for her to not know that her WWE contract was going to expire.

The female star appeared on the Barely Famous podcast for the first time since the news of her exit from WWE became public. She talked openly about the circumstances leading to her departure.

The former SmackDown Women’s Champion went on a hiatus in March 2013 due to her pregnancy. When asked how the company first reacted to the news, Carmella noted that they were very supportive at the time:

“A handful of women have gotten pregnant while under contract and basically, they freeze your contract while you’re pregnant. They pay you, which is so incredible. They don’t have to pay you when you’re pregnant, and they paid me, and they’ve paid every woman that’s been pregnant before under contract. I’m so grateful for that.”

These Dates Will Change

The Princess of Staten Island then went into details of why and how it was possible for her to not know that her WWE contract was coming to an end until she got the call from the office. Carmella explained that the standard procedure is for a frozen contract to be reinstated after the star returns to action. In her case, however, the officials decided to reinstate her deal in January 2024, without notifying her:

“Basically when I got pregnant, they sent me a letter and they said that like, they gave me X amount of days off on my contract for being pregnant and then seven weeks postpartum. So basically, they anticipated how long it would take me to recover postpartum. I’m assuming they give this number to all the women who get pregnant, right? But they said in this letter like no matter what, when you return to wrestling, these dates will all change.

So basically, it’s just kind of like a placeholder date and number and period of time that you have off, but when you return to wrestle, that’s the date that we’re actually going to take. That contract would be frozen for that amount of time that you were out.

So like say I was out for 300 days and then like okay, we’re going to freeze your contract for 300 days. Or we’re going to freeze your contract for whatever amount of time, but I was out for 300 days then once I came back, they would add that 300 days back onto my contract. If that makes sense. So that was just the impression I was under because that’s how it’s worked for other women in the past and that’s how it’s worked if you’re injured or anything. “

Carmella also revealed that she had contact with the company during this period. She didn’t want to be sitting home just collecting her paycheck, so she pitched ideas to be involved in various non-wrestling capacities such as pre-show panelist or manager for a team. Though she was not informed of the change in her contract status even when she let the company know about her postpartum medical issues. She only became aware of it when she was called to inform that her deal will not be renewed earlier this year.

WWE Topps Card Error Rewrites WrestleMania History

0

WWE & Topps have partnered once again to produce collectible trading cards which fans are already snatching up. While an incredibly-rare 1/1 triple-autographed card is already proving to be a highly-sought-after commodity, a different card in the set is raising attention for the wrong reasons.

One card in the latest wave celebrates ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and includes a biography about the Texas Rattlesnake. Unfortunately, a production error means that the card claims Austin teamed with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022. In reality, the two were adversaries on the night and Austin would defeat Owens in his first match in close to two decades.

image 13

This isn’t the first time a WWE trading card has been inaccurate. A few years ago, a card claimed that The Miz’s eight reigns as Intercontinental Champion were the most of any wrestler. In reality, AEW’s Chris Jericho holds the record at nine.

Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 41

Talk has grown in recent weeks about Austin potentially being a part of WrestleMania 41. The WWE Hall of Famer has previously confirmed that he will be in Las Vegas this weekend, but has claimed WWE has not contacted him for the Premium Live Event.

With John Cena turning heel and aligning with The Rock, some have predicted that Austin may back up Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Cena recently teased doing something with Austin via an Instagram post, though as usual, gave no explanation. Whether Austin has a role to play this April or not, fans are eager to see the Rattlesnake, who fought Kevin Owens in 2022, despite what this card may claim.

LA Knight Vows to Bring WWE U.S. Title Back to the Light After Win

0

During the March 7, 2025, edition of WWE SmackDown, LA Knight captured the WWE United States Championship for the second time. In the main event of the Philadelphia show, Knight dethroned Shinsuke Nakamura, who had won the gold from Knight in November 2-2024.

Speaking after the match, Knight vowed to bring the title back to the light.

“Shinsuke Nakamura you had a nice little reign in the shadows.Hope you enjoyed it but now we’re bringing it out to the light like nobody else can.”

Knight’s words echo a common criticsm of Nakamura’s reign as champion as he very rarely defended the gold on TV. Nakamura’s defeat to Knight on SmackDown marked only the second televised title defense for the King of Strong Style. The issue of sporadic title defenses has also been a problem in previous reigns on the main roster including as U.S. Champion and Intercontinental Champion.

Knight is 42 years old, an age when many wrestlers would be looking at winding down in the ring. Reflecting on his long journey to the top, Knight acknowledged having doubts in the past.

“It was only a few years ago I thought my career was never going to go anywhere. I thought my career was kind of nearing its end and here I am all of a sudden, just taking off. All of a sudden, just with the United States Champion not once, but twice.”

Rather than nearing its end, LA Knight’s career continues to blossom with a second U.S. title reign to his name. With WrestleMania 41 approaching, fans can expect big things from the Megastar, including a potential title match at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Chelsea Green Is ‘Chick Foley’ With Cactus Jack Tribute

0

Chelsea Green proved that she’s ‘hardcore’ by channeling Mick Foley during the March 7, edition of WWE SmackDown. Ahead of her Women’s United States Championship Street Fight with Michin, Green paid tribute to the WWE Hall of Famer. Not only did Green tape her fists like The Micker, but she wore his signature flannel and a Cactus Jack Dead or Alive shirt, albeit with a Chelsea twist.

On X, Green shared a clip of her match and gave herself a fun, new nickname.

Green retained her title against Michin, once again under controversial circumstances. Just as Michin appeared poised to win, a hooded figure pulled Green from the ring. This person was revealed to be Alba Fyre, who planted Michin with a Canadian Destroyer, allowing Green to get the win.

Fyre’s U.S. Flag pinned to her collar, as well as her post-match salute, certainly teases that she will be the next member of Green’s ‘cabinet.’ While there’s some irony that all three members of this American President-inspired group aren’t from the U.S., Green may be champion for a long time to come now she has another ally on her side.

Did You Catch Shinsuke Nakamura’s Tribute To Retiring Japanese Legend On SmackDown

0

Shinsuke Nakamura paid tribute to a fellow Japanese wrestling legend on this week’s episode of SmackDown from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The US Champion was defending his title against LA Knight in the main event of the show. The match originally set for last week was re-scheduled after the passing of Nakamura’s friend and veteran wrestler Osamu Nishimura.

The ending of the bout saw the King of Strong Style accidentally spitting the mist on the referee instead of Knight, which took the official out of the match.

Shinsuke Nakamura Pays Tribute To Meiko Satomura

Nakamura used the opportunity to take out his opponent with a kick. The wrestling veteran followed this with a tribute to fellow Japanese wrestler Meiko Satomura, using her finishing move Scorpio Rising on the challenger:

The US Champion then grabbed the steel chair he had introduced in the match earlier to finish Knight once and for all. The challenger however, managed to kick the chair out of Nakamura’s hand, and he delivered a BFT on the chair itself to finally get the pin.

After a career spanning 3 decades, Meiko Satomura is set to retire from active competition later this month. Her final match will be taking place at the Sendai Girls event ‘Satomura The Final’ on April 29, 2025.

In her illustrious career, Satomura has wrestled for promotions such as WCW, Stardom, DDT and more. She also competed in the 2018 Mae Young Classic and held the NXT UK Women’s Championship for 451 days.

LA Knight Regains United States Championship On WWE SmackDown

0

LA Knight is now a two-time WWE United States Champion after regaining the gold on the March 7, edition of WWE SmackDown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the show’s main event, Knight dethroned Shinsuke Nakamura, who had attempted to use the red mist. Nakamura had taken the title from Knight at Survivor Series: WarGames in November 2024.

Knight won a one-night tournament during the previous episode of WWE SmackDown to earn a title match with Nakamura. During the February 28, episode, Knight defeated Santos Escobar in the first round before defeating Carmelo Hayes and Jacob Fatu (who had also won qualifying matches) to become the number one contender. Interestingly, Knight Vs. Nakamura had been promoted before the February 28, episode before being pulled, suggesting WWE has been planning on this week’s title change for some time.

With WrestleMania 41 close, it’s possible that Knight will walk into the Showcase of the Immortals as the United States Champion. After fighting hard to regain the title, Knight is ready to take on all-comers on the road to Las Vegas. YEAH!

Cody Rhodes To John Cena: ‘You Want Some, Come & Get Some’

0

At WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto, John Cena shockingly turned heel and attacked Cody Rhodes, marking John’s first role as a villain since 2002. While neither Cena nor The Rock appeared on SmackDown, Rhodes was part of the show and was hungry for answers.

Cody was subdued during his entrance, even ignoring the ‘WHOA’ and wasted no time in addressing what happened inside Toronto’s Rogers Centre. Cody shared that when his daughter asked about his face, he told her that he’d ran into a wall.

This wasn’t entirely a lie, Rhodes added, as he said that he ran into a wall designed by the Final Boss, his associate, Travis Scott, and, of course, John Cena. The fans booed loudly at the mention of Cena. Cody said that one day, he’ll tell his daughter what actually happened, that a great man who did great things and said he’d never give up, gave up.

Rhodes is confident Cena will have a well-crafted response but argued that there was no justification for John Cena. Cody recalled Cena telling him that “it gets heavier every day” while referencing his title. Ending his promo, Rhodes screamed at Cena to “come and get some!” before throwing his mic down.

Rhodes and Cena will battle at WrestleMania 41, where John intends to become a 17-time WWE World Champion. With The Rock and Travis Scott on his side, Cena certainly has the numbers advantage, but Cody Rhodes won’t go down without a fight.

WWE 2K25 Locker Code Unlocks The Rock’s Action Figure Chararcter

0

The Rock is already a major part of WWE 2K25, and now the Final Boss has arrived in the game in action figure form. This week, WWE 2K25 shared its first Locker Code. The code is “ELITEROCK2K25” and unlocks an Elite The Rock Persona Card! The code expires on March 16. This Code unlocks a special edition action figure version of the Final Boss to use as a playable character in the game.

How to Redeem WWE 2K25 Locker Codes

A WWE 2K25 Locker Code is a promotional code that players can redeem within the game’s MyFACTION mode. These codes can unlock various rewards, including in-game currency (VC), exclusive card packs, Persona Cards, and other bonuses. These codes are usually time-limited, meaning fans only have a limited window of opportunity to grab these exclusive additions.

To redeem a Locker Code, players should go to MyFACTION mode and select the Locker Codes section. After entering a code, press Start to redeem your reward. Go to Unopened Packs to open the packs and use your new items or characters.

The Rock will be a key part of WWE 2K25 as part of the Bloodline Showcase Mode. Now, fans will get much more Rock for their money if they use this Locker Code.

’I Did This For You’ – Naomi Admits to Bianca Belair That She’s Jade Cargill’s Attacker

0

On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, Naomi shocked the WWE Universe by admitting she was behind the attack that sidelined Jade Cargill for months. The revelation came during an in-ring confrontation with Bianca Belair, who directly questioned Naomi about the assault.

Naomi didn’t hesitate to confess, declaring, “I did it!” She justified her actions by stating that Cargill was ungrateful and that her loyalty to Belair had gone unappreciated. However, Belair rejected Naomi’s reasoning and made it clear she no longer wanted any affiliation with her.

As tensions escalated, Jade Cargill made her long-awaited return. Wasting no time, Cargill stormed the ring and unleashed an all-out assault on Naomi. She dominated her both inside and outside the ring before delivering her signature move, Jaded, and standing tall over her fallen rival.

The segment marked the climax of this long-running storyline, with Cargill getting her revenge and Naomi facing the consequences of her betrayal. With Bianca Belair distancing herself from Naomi and Cargill back in action, the SmackDown women’s division is more heated than ever.

Jade Cargill’s return to WWE has generated backstage buzz, particularly due to her recent promo where she declared, “there are wolves in the shape of women all around me.”

According to Fightful Select, at least one talent noted that some in the locker room took the statement personally. The reaction comes amid the revelation of a backstage altercation between Cargill and Shayna Baszler that had previously remained private.

While Cargill’s promo was likely intended to build intrigue around her WWE run, it has reportedly sparked discussion among the roster.

It remains to be seen whether this tension will translate to on-screen developments.

TNA Wrestling Star Announces Exit, Excited For What’s Next

0

TNA Wrestling is gearing up for its Sacrifice pay-per-view, but the show will go on without a notable name. Taking to X, Hammerstone shared that he has finished his time with TNA and is a free agent available for bookings.

Hammerstone, a former MLW World Champion, signed with TNA in February 2024 but his time in the ring was hit hard by injuries. At November’s Turning Point event, Hammestone suffered a knee injury that would result in him undergoing surgery the next month. Hammerstone returned for the February 21, 2025, tapings of TNA iMPACT to face Joe Hendry, in what turned out to be his final match for the promotion.

With Hammerstone’s career in TNA Wrestling now over, the questions remains as to where he will go next. In 2024, Hammerstone appeared in WWE NXT to face Oba Femi, and its possible that he could appear in the silver brand again soon enough. With his impressive physique and accolades, work shouldn’t be hard to find for Hammerstone now his TNA tenure has ended.

Linda McMahon Asked About John Cena’s Heel Turn at the State of the Union

0

John Cena’s unexpected heel turn at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event has become a significant talking point, extending its influence beyond the wrestling community. At the 2025 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, discussed the extensive cultural impact of Cena’s character transformation.

Levesque highlighted that within hours of the event, Cena’s heel turn amassed over 100 million views on social media platforms. The storyline was prominently featured on major sports networks, with analysts debating its implications. Comedian Jon Stewart even utilized the event as a metaphor to discuss political dynamics in Washington, D.C.

Emphasizing the storyline’s reach, Levesque shared that Linda McMahon, the newly appointed U.S. Secretary of Education, encountered the phenomenon firsthand. As she departed the State of the Union address, an attendee inquired about her thoughts on Cena’s heel turn.

“I think it’s no secret that my mother-in-law is the Secretary of Education,” he said. “She just had a moment the other day where she was walking out of the State Of The Union.

One question someone shouted at her was, ‘Ms. McMahon, as the new Secretary of Education, what do you think about John Cena turning heel?’ It resonated so massively, and when you talk about cross-promotion, in the background of that scene is Travis Scott. It transcended everything. It was water cooler talk around the globe and made headlines everywhere.”

This incident exemplifies how WWE storylines can transcend traditional boundaries, influencing conversations in diverse sectors beyond the realm of sports entertainment.

Lex Luger To Be Inducted Into The 2025 WWE Hall of Fame

0

Lex Luger, an iconic name who cemented his legacy in WWE and World Championship Wrestling, is officially heading to the WWE Hall of Fame. On X, WWE shared a video of Luger learning of his induction during a meeting with WWE Hall of Famer and friend ‘Diamond’ Dallas Page and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Luger joins an already-stacked line-up, including Triple H and Michelle McCool. The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon) have been reported for this year’s class, but yet to be confirmed. The Hall of Fame will take place over WrestleMania week, and while plans are yet to be announced as to where the show will take place, fans will be treated to an incredible night of legendary wrestlers.

0

WWE has announced its plans for Memorial Day weekend 2025, including the return of NXT Battleground on Sunday, May 25. The event will take place the same night as AEW’s Double or Nothing, marking another instance of the two promotions scheduling major events head-to-head.

WWE’s Memorial Day Weekend Events

• Monday, May 26: Monday Night Raw.

• Tuesday, May 27: NXT television taping.

AEW’s Double or Nothing 2025

AEW’s Double or Nothing, one of the promotion’s marquee events since 2019, is set for Sunday, May 25, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. This will be the first time the event is held outside the Las Vegas area, while still maintaining its casino-inspired branding.

With both WWE and AEW running major events on the same night once again, wrestling fans will have another high-profile showdown to look forward to during Memorial Day weekend.

CM Punk & AJ Lee Vs. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch Could Be the Most Electric Mixed Tag Team Feud of All Time

0

The rivalry between CM Punk and Seth Rollins has been one of WWE’s hottest issues in recent months. Things took a turn coming out of Elimination Chamber. Punk eliminated ‘The Visionary’ from the Chamber match, only for Rollins’s post-elimination attack to sabotage Punk’s chances at winning. The ‘Straight Edge Superstar’ cut a scathing promo two nights later on Raw that included name dropping Becky Lynch and saying she’d better come get her man.

The fact that Rollins and Punk have a Steel Cage Match lined up in Madison Square Garden may be enough to blow off most feuds. With WrestleMania around the corner, though, it’s doubtful they’re done. That’s not least of all because Becky Lynch dumped gasoline on the fire, taking to X (in a post since deleted) to suggest she’s not the one who should worry about her man. Rather, Lynch pointed out, with Punk and Roxanne Perez wearing matching ring gear at Elimination Chamber, maybe Punk’s wife AJ Lee is the one who ought to be concerned.

The most straightforward interpretation of Lynch deleting her post is that she realized she’d crossed a line, or someone in the company told to back off–if not Punk or Lee themselves. A more intriguing possibility, however, is that this whole scenario may set up Punk vs. Rollins to escalate to a Punk and Lee vs. Rollins and Lynch on-screen feud.

CM Punk Vs. Seth Rollins Is A Hot Feud, And This Dimension Could Add New Life To It

CM Punk Seth Rollins Best WWE Promo

CM Punk and Seth Rollins have cut tremendous promos against one another and the in-ring action between them, highlighted by a showdown on the Raw premiere Netflix, has been predictably excellent. Their cage match on Raw will surely note another important chapter, and a lot of fans predict a Triple Threat between them and Roman Reigns for WrestleMania.

The fact of the matter is that, particularly in the modern era of monthly PLEs, it’s very hard to sustain a feud’s heat for more than a few months. The insertion of Becky Lynch into the issue would surely elevate things to a new fever pitch, though, especially after she’s been absent from TV for quite some time. Factoring in AJ Lee, after her even longer absence, holds even more potential to drive WWE fans insane.

CM Punk’s Best Promos Are Worked Shoots

CM Punk AEW promo
Photo: AEW

CM Punk is an all-time great talker, but there’s little doubt the best of his best material comes when he toes the line between storyline and reality. His Pipe Bomb Promo a  little over a decade ago was the singular moment that elevated him from perennial upper card talent to legitimate main event mainstay.  He has tapped into that same ethos in WWE and AEW alike to generate buzz.

A husband-wife feud invites Punk to get personal and lean into the touchiest of real life matters. While, hopefully, everyone involved with this program would ensure they’re on the same page about what’s off limits, part of the fun for fans would be waiting to see just what lines are crossed and whether Punk might go off script.

Becky Lynch’s Social Media Game Is On Point

In setting the Internet ablaze with her post to X about CM Punk and Roxanne Perez, Becky Lynch reminded the wrestling world that she’s one of the baddest wrestlers of all time when it comes to social media.

Indeed, leveraging X was a big part of Lynch’s evolution as The Man, generating a groundswell of organic fan support behind her and engaging in back and forths with Ronda Rousey.  So it is that Lynch’s posting is the perfect reciprocal to Punk’s promo to keep the two power couples on level footing in this feud before it gets to the ring.

Roxanne Perez Could Serve As A Proxy For AJ Lee

AJ Lee was a great talent for WWE and photos of her have demonstrated that she’s remained in incredible shape over the years to follow. The prospect of seeing her back in action would surely be one of the most exciting aspects of this hypothetical mixed tag team feud.

Even if Lee chooses not to step back into a WWE ring, though, Roxanne Perez is waiting. It does appear that she has a bond with Punk and, in getting called out by Lynch, it makes all the sense in the world that she could serve as a proxy for Lee in warring with Lynch and Rollins.

The feud would help ‘The Prodigy’ accelerate establishing herself with the main roster audience, not to mention that Lynch continuing to pick at the nature of her relationship with Punk could pour nuclear heat over this program. That’s all not to mention that Perez is an outstanding in-ring talent who’d more than hold her own among her star-studded dance partners for this feud.

Only time will tell if a mixed tag team feud is in the cards for Seth Rollins and CM Punk. Either way, it’s a fascinating possibility. The buzz around this issue underscores just how far WWE has come from the heatless Rollins and Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans feud from 2019, to a place where this combination of male and female talents really could become the hottest thing WWE has going.

The Young Bucks Returning To AEW Soon

0

The Young Bucks are expected to return to AEW television soon. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the duo was backstage at AEW’s show in Oceanside, CA, signaling that their comeback is approaching. While they have missed multiple California events, plans are in motion for their return.

Their most recent AEW Tag Team Championship reign ended on the October 4 episode of Dynamite, where they dropped the titles to Private Party. The Bucks had previously defended the belts against them at Wrestle Dynasty.

Following their AEW hiatus, they competed in NJPW, where they had a run as IWGP Tag Team Champions. Their last match took place on February 11, when they lost the titles. They have not been used by NJPW since.

During their time away from AEW, Matt Jackson and his wife, Dana Massie, launched a travel-centric YouTube channel, Never Not Jet Lagged, which will also feature wrestling-related content.

While creative discussions are underway for their return, the exact timeline remains unclear. However, once they’re back, they’ll find themselves in the midst of AEW’s stacked tag team division.

WWE’s Original Plan For John Cena’s Heel Turn Had a ‘Stone Cold’ Connection

0

John Cena shocked the world with his heel turn at Elimination Chamber: Toronto, but this was not WWE’s original plan. Instead, WWE had planned to recreate an iconic, infamous moment from 2001 when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin aligned with Mr. McMahon

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE initially planned for Cena to win the men’s Elimination Chamber match as a babyface. Instead of in Toronto, Cena’s heel turn would’ve come at WrestleMania 41, reminiscent of Austin shockingly aligning with McMahon, his sworn on-screen nemesis, at WrestleMania X-Seven.

Why WWE Pulled the Trigger Early

Plans reportedly changed on the day of Elimination Chamber, leading to Cena’s turn happening earlier than expected. The initial script called for Rhodes to reject The Rock’s request for his ‘soul’ without Cena’s involvement in the segment.

Dave Meltzer reported that WWE insiders were told the shift was a “late change,” though it’s possible the company had always planned to keep the details under wraps. WWE worked hard to keep Cena’s heel turn a secret, including Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque overseeing the production of the segment on his own.

As Cena’s turn did not come at WrestleMania like Austin’s, his decision to align with the Rock has added an intriguing new layer on the road to WWE’s annual Supershow. With speculation growing of Austin having a role to play in this angle, all eyes turn to Las Vegas and an epic battle between the American Nightmare and WWE’s GOAT.

Details on Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler’s Backstage Altercation

0

A backstage confrontation between Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler occurred several months ago, prior to Cargill’s television hiatus in late 2024, according to multiple sources confirmed by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The tension reportedly developed after Cargill’s behavior alienated some members of the RAW women’s division, prompting Baszler to confront her. WWE management stepped in before the situation could escalate.

This conflict coincided with the period when Baszler and Zoey Stark were competing against Cargill and Bianca Belair in tag team matches. While the specific cause remains undisclosed, reports suggest the friction stemmed from both in-ring interactions and personal dynamics.

One WWE talent also claimed that tensions on the SmackDown roster were purportedly even more severe than those on RAW, though no specifics were provided.
