Toni Storm Explains Difference Between Environment Of WWE And AEW

0

Some time has passed since Toni Storm’s AEW debut in March. She has gotten the chance to work with a number of AEW stars since then and understand the difference in behind the scene proceedings of Tony Khan’s company compared to WWE.

During her recent Talk Is Jericho appearance, the former WWE star was asked about the difference she has noticed between the two companies. Replying to it, Storm mentioned that WWE is considered the land of ‘no’. According to the former NXT UK women’s champion, a lot your creativity is shut down in WWE. In comparison, she feels like she can express herself more naturally in AEW:

‘I Can Work More Organically Here’: Toni Storm

“Hey, I love it. I love it here because I have so much [freedom]. I feel like I have creative freedom. I feel like I can express myself more naturally. I feel like WWE is a bit of the land of ‘No’. Some people call it that. You’re just really told ‘no’ a lot. A lot of your ideas, your creativity is shut down. Not always, not for everyone. Just for some people. I should put it out there.” said Toni Storm,

She continued, “Some people just obviously can hack it there and that’s awesome. More power to them. But yeah, it’s really hard to compare. It’s really hard to compare the two except I just feel like I can work more organically here. I’m less uptight, therefore I can perform better.”

WWE’s Omos Is Ready for a 100,000-seat Show in Africa

0

WWE is unquestionably the biggest wrestling promotion around and the company’s influence can be felt all around the world.

While much of the company’s work takes place in the United States, WWE will travel to Cardiff, Wales this September for their Clash at the Castle event.

Cardiff’s Principality Stadium can hold up to 74,500 fans, but one Raw Superstar is ready for an even bigger event in the continent of Africa.

Omos’ is Confident

Speaking on BT Sport WWE, Raw Superstar Omos discussed Clash at the Castle, which is happening after Drew McIntyre promised a Premium Live Event in the UK.

When asked if a WWE PLE could ever happen in the near future on African soil, Omos was positive that an event will come soon enough.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, we can definitely have a 100,000 or more sold out show in Africa.”

Omos to WWE’s The Bump

Omos gave the South African capital of Johannesburg as an example of where this hypothetical Premium Live Event.

While Johannesburg is home to the two largest stadiums in Africa, neither has the capacity to sell out 100,000 seats.

The FNB Stadium in the Gauteng region of Johannesburg has a capacity of 94,736, while the Ellis Park Stadium, also in Gauteng can hold 62,567 fans.

Wrestling and Africa

The African continent has a close relationship with Wrestling, including having its own promotions.

Perhaps the biggest promotion is the AWA (African Wrestling Alliance) which was founded in 1995 as the African Wrestling Federation.

WWE has also made several trips to Africa over the years, with two title changes happening during a tour in 2007.

During a live event in Capetown, Paul London and Brian Kendrick captured the World Tag Team Championships from Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch.

On the final night of the tour, Cade and Murdoch won the titles back in Johannesburg.

Juice Robinson Stripped Of IWGP US Championship

0

New Japan Pro Wrestling has confirmed that Juice Robinson has been stripped of the IWGP United States Championship ahead of Sunday’s Dominion PPV.

The now-former champion was first pulled from Best of Super Junior Finals at the Nippon Budokan last week because of appendicitis. He was supposed to take on Tomoaki Honma at the show.

The Japanese wrestling promotion then announced late Friday that the Bullet Club member is being stripped of the US title because of his inability to compete:

Robinson was scheduled to defend the championship against Will Ospreay and SANADA in a triple threat match at the Dominion PPV.

NJPW has confirmed that the PPV will now see Orpreay and SANADA going up against each other for the vacant title instead.

Juice Robinson had only returned to NJPW during Wrestling Dontaku on May 1. He won the US championship a couple weeks later in a four-way match at Capital Collision. The match saw him defeat Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay, and Jon Moxley.

The video released by NJPW indicates that the American pro wrestler will require surgery. There is no word on how long he is expected to stay out of action. We will keep you posted on his condition.

‘He’s A Judgemental Prick’: AEW Star Blasts Bryan Danielson

0

While Eddie Kingston admits that Bryan Danielson is one of the best wrestlers of today’s era, he isn’t a fan of the former world champion as a person.

The AEW star had an interview with Joe Roderick. He talked about things such as his work on the independent circuit and more.

Eddie recently worked with the Blackpool Combat Club when they went against The Jericho Appreciation Society. Kingston noted how he has known Bryan longer than he has known Jon Moxley:

“I’ve known Bryan, and Bryan’s been a piece of s— since I met him. I’m not gonna lie to you guys and be like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re best buds.’”

Eddie Kingston did admit that Bryan Danielson is a great competitor and he belongs in the discussion for the greatest wrestler of all time. Though despite all this, he is not a fan of the former WWE star:

“But I’m not a mark. I’m not a fan. If I think you’re a bad person or for Bryan, I think he’s a judgmental prick. He judges people, so I don’t like Bryan. There it is.”

Eddie Kingston competed in the Battle Royal to determine Jon Moxley’s opponent at this Wednesday’s Dynamite. He then defeated Jake Hager during Friday’s Rampage.

Batista Underwent Surgery For Torn Quad And Meniscus Recently

Former WWE champion Dave Batista has revealed that he underwent surgery for a torn quad tendon and torn meniscus earlier this year.

The former world champion revealed this news in an Instagram post. He noted that it’s been 14 weeks since he had the surgery and shared some photos of his leg in a cast:

“Exactly 14 weeks post-surgery for a torn quad tendon and torn meniscus.” wrote Batista, “Thanks to @wilk_kevin Dr @bentonemblom and @heatherprahl_at I was able to keep on truckin .. And now I think its safe to say that I’M BACK IN BINESS!”

Batista In Hollywood

It’s unknown when or where the Hollywood star suffered the injury. Though director James Gunn revealed on Twitter last month that they had wrapped up the shooting for Guardians of The Galaxy Vo. 3.

https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1522730391911686144

It’s possible that Batista, who plays the role of Drax The Destroyer in the Marvel series may have suffered the injury while filming an action scene for the movie.

The Animal’s last official wrestling match came in 2019. He competed against Triple H at WrestleMania 35. The former WWE star has since maintained that this was the last match of his career and he has no plans of wrestling again.

Natalya Speaks After Attacking Ronda Rousey

In a WWE social media exclusive, Natalya answered the question of why she attacked Ronda Rousey from behind during the show.

Here’s what she had to say:

“Ronda Rousey comes here and she’s got an entourage of people that kiss her ass. She makes everybody around her jump through hoops but she can’t make me jump through hoops.

“Because I’m the one person in this company that has seen Ronda at her very most vulnerable. I’ve seen her when she is at her weakest.

“When Ronda Rousey came into this business, I told her when to show up at my gym. I told her when she could leave my gym. And now, I’m gonna let her know when I kick her ass.”

Big WWE Title Match Set For SmackDown Next Week

The stage is set for a big WWE title match on next week’s edition of SmackDown.

On the June 10 episode, Riddle took on Sami Zayn in the main event. The stipulation was that if Riddle won, he’d get a shot at Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship on June 17.

If he lost, he would be barred from SmackDown.

Roman Reigns vs. Riddle Official

In an exciting SmackDown main event, Riddle defeated Zayn with the RKO. After the match, The Usos attacked Riddle but one-half of RK-Bro sent them packing by retaliating with kendo stick shots.

Reigns will now put the undisputed gold on the line for the first time against Riddle on the June 17 episode of SmackDown.

The match is happening on that date as Reigns isn’t scheduled for the Money in the Bank premium live event on July 2.

Gunther Wins WWE Intercontinental Title On SmackDown

0

Gunther has dethroned Ricochet as the WWE Intercontinental Champion as he won the title from him on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

The match took place in the second hour and featured Ricochet trying to avoid the big power shots of Gunther. Ricochet tried to make a comeback but was cut down by a powerbomb for the finish.

Gunther finished up his short run in NXT on April 5th by losing to NXT Champion Bron Breakker. While in NXT UK, he was the NXT UK Champion for 870 days as he held it from 2019 through 2021.

Since making his SmackDown debut in April, Gunther has been booked strongly. In recent weeks, he crossed paths with Ricochet after the former champion came to the aid of Drew Gulak.

When WALTER went through the major name change, WWE received backlash over it. WWE abandoned its trademark filing on the original name, Gunther Stark because there was a person with the same name who severed as a Nazi Germany military commander during World War II.

As previously reported, Vince McMahon is high on Gunther’s in-ring work and he has impressed people of influence in WWE for many things including being willing to play ball by losing weight, changing his name, and handling the Imperium split in a positive way.

WWE Announces Cody Rhodes Will Be Out For 9 Months

WWE has announced that Cody Rhodes is going to be on the shelf for quite a while.

The company made the announcement on the June 10 episode of SmackDown and later took to social media with the following post:

“INJURY UPDATE

“After a vicious attack by Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, Rhodes had successful surgery on Thursday performed by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas to reattach his pectoral tendon. Rhodes will face a long recovery and will be unable to compete for nine months.”

Cody tore his right pectoral muscle completely off the bone while preparing for his Hell in a Cell match with Seth Rollins. Despite most of his pec and arm being bruised, Cody went through with the match and put on one of the best performances of his career.

Rhodes underwent successful surgery this week.

If Cody is indeed out for the full nine months, he will miss the Royal Rumble event and will barely be able to make it for WrestleMania 39.

Time will time if Cody’s recovery process can go quicker than expected.

WWE SmackDown Superstar Out With an Injury

One WWE SmackDown superstar has been sidelined due to an injury.

The June 10 episode of SmackDown is ongoing. The action is being held inside the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Things got started with a Money in the Bank qualifier between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.

Just before the match began, Michael Cole revealed a superstar on the blue brand has been injured.

Ridge Holland Suffers Injury

Cole announced that Ridge Holland of The Brawling Brutes suffered a knee injury and was “on the mend.” He did not appear for McIntyre vs. Sheamus. Butch was in Sheamus’ corner.

WWE did not reveal when Holland is expected to return.

It’s yet another injury for a top promotion. AEW is littered with injuries to the likes of CM Punk, Adam Cole, and Scorpio Sky. Some of those injuries are more severe than others, however.

On the WWE side of things, Cody Rhodes will be out for several months as he needed to undergo surgery after tearing his right pectoral muscle completely off the bone.

Big E has been out of action with a broken neck and time will tell if he’ll ever be able to wrestle again.

Drew McIntyre squared off against Sheamus in a MITB Qualifier. Butch attempted to attack McIntyre backstage before the match but Drew swatted him away. Butch then angrily accompanied Sheamus down the ramp and was ringside for the match. McIntyre dominated the action early and lit up the Celtic Warrior’s chest with some chops.

Sheamus shrugged them off and leveled Drew with a shoulder tackle. McIntyre hopped right up and planted Sheamus with a Michinoku Driver for a one count. Sheamus went for 10 Beats of the Bodhran but McIntyre cut him off at 5. Drew then clubbed Sheamus across the chest several times before bringing him to the apron. Sheamus shoved McIntyre into the ring post and hit White Noise on the ring apron as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Sheamus planted McIntyre with an Alabama Slam for a two count. Sheamus applied a Crossface as Butch watched on. McIntyre battled to his feet and hit Sheamus with a couple Clotheslines. McIntyre followed it up with a throw across the ring and a Neckbreaker.

McIntyre went for the Future Shock DDT but Sheamus escaped. Drew caught him with a Spinebuster but Sheamus powered out at two and the qualifying match continued. Drew lifted Sheamus up in a Fireman’s Carry but Sheamus countered into a DDT of his own for a two count.

Drew and Sheamus battled on the turnbuckle and McIntyre hit White Noise but Sheamus was able to kick out at two. McIntyre set up for the Claymore but Sheamus countered with a running knee to the face for another near fall. Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick but McIntyre countered into a Powerbomb for a two count.

Butch ran into the ring and McIntyre hit him with a Claymore. Sheamus capitalized on the distraction and Clotheslined Drew out of the ring. Sheamus followed that up with a flying Clothesline off the top rope and then sent him over the barricade. McIntyre and Sheamus hit each other with steel chairs at the same time to end the match in a double disqualification.

Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were still brawling outside the ring when SmackDown returned. Butch jumped on McIntyre but he got slammed to the floor. McIntyre launched Sheamus over the barricade and they battled through the crowd. McIntyre and Sheamus both approached Adam Pearce throughout the show and asked to be put into the MITB Ladder match.

Lacey Evans Qualified For The MITB Ladder Match

Lacey Evans finally returned to the ring tonight to battle Xia Li in a MITB Qualifying match. Xia Li controlled the action early and applied a Crossface in the middle of the ring. Lacey Evans escaped and hit the Woman’s Right for the easy pinfall victory.

Natalya Attacked Ronda Rousey

WWE aired a “coming soon” to SmackDown vignette for Viking Raiders. SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey came down to the ring and cut a promo on Natalya. Rousey will be defending the title against Natalya at Money in the Bank. Rousey claimed that her Armbar is better than Natalya’s Sharpshooter. Shotzi interrupted and challenged Ronda to a match as SmackDown went to a break.

Shotzi got in some offense early and planted Ronda Rousey with a DDT on the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Shotzi connected with a boot to the side of the head and went for the cover but the SmackDown Women’s Champion kicked out at two. Shotzi stomped on Rousey’s arm before applying a submission hold.

Rousey battled through the pain and eventually was able to escape. Shotzi connected with a Suplex for a two count before delivering another one that sent Rousey flying into the turnbuckle. Shotzi kneed Rousey in the face and went for a kick but Ronda caught her. Shotzi started smacking Ronda in the face but Rousey wouldn’t let go.

Rousey hit some judo throws and some strikes to the midsection. Ronda followed it up with Piper’s Pit and then the armbar for the submission victory. After the match, Natalya attacked Ronda from behind and applied the Sharpshooter for an extended period of time before finally letting go.

Gunther Captured The Intercontinental Championship

Ricochet defended his Intercontinental Championship against Gunther tonight on SmackDown. Ludwig Kaiser was ringside for the match. Ricochet went for a Hurricanrana but Gunther blocked it and connected with a chop to the chest. Gunther choked Ricochet against the ropes as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Ricochet battled back and sent Gunther to the corner. The champ went for a Clothesline but Gunther countered into a Sleeper Hold. Ricochet escaped but Gunther leveled him with a massive Clothesline for a two count. Ricochet responded with a springboard Moonsault and made his way to the top turnbuckle.

Gunther avoided the 630 Splash but Ricochet caught him with a Dropkick. Gunther exploded out of the corner with a Dropkick of his own and then followed it up with a Powerbomb for the pinfall victory. Gunther is the new Intercontinental Champion.

Riddle Earned A Title Shot Against Roman Reigns Next Week

Sami Zayn squared off against Riddle in tonight’s main event. Before the match, Paul Heyman warned Sami not to lose tonight.

Riddle dominated the match early and connected with an Exploder Suplex for a near fall. Paul Heyman joined commentary for the match and noted that if Riddle wins tonight, Roman Reigns must defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against him next week. Heyman stated that Reigns will be very angry with Sami Zayn if he has to do that.

Sami battled back and got Riddle in a Headlock in the middle of the ring. Riddle broke free and connected with another Exploder Suplex. Riddle followed it up with a running kick to the face and went for the cover but Sami was able to kick out at two. The action spilled to the outside and Zayn bounced Riddle’s head off the ring post.

Riddle made it back in the ring to beat the referee’s count and Sami greeted him with some punches to the face. Sami climbed to the top rope but Riddle joined him up there. Riddle went for an RKO but Sami blocked it. Zayn went for a Crossbody but Riddle countered with a knee to the face for a two count.

Zayn then caught Riddle in the ropes and hit the draping DDT as Heyman smirked. Sami started firing up the crowd and Paul was getting pissed on commentary. Zayn went for the RKO but Riddle blocked it and sent Sami to the corner. Riddle hit Sami with a kick to the face and then a springboard Floating Bro on the outside.

Back in the ring, Riddle connected with a Powerslam and followed it up with the draping DDT. Riddle went for the RKO but Sami countered into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Riddle went for the Bro Derek but Sami escaped. Zayn hit an Exploder Suplex and set up for an RKO but Riddle countered into an RKO for the pinfall victory.

Riddle beat Jimmy and Jey down and stood tall in the ring to close the show. Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Riddle on next week’s show.

Paige Announces WWE Departure, Promises In-Ring Return

Paige will soon be leaving WWE.

The former two-time WWE Divas Champion announced her departure from the company, which will be effective after July 7.

In a statement, Paige expressed her gratitude to WWE for giving her an opportunity. She ended the announcement by promising she will return to the ring someday.

https://twitter.com/RealPaigeWWE/status/1535380532762095616

“Paige here!

“July 7th will be the last day with WWE. I’m so thankful and I appreciate the opportunities that the company has given me. I will always be appreciative of the company that took in an 18-year-old British pale emo girl that didn’t look like your average diva, giving me the chance of a lifetime and making me feel like a superstar. I know after my neck injury taking me out of in-ring status, it was pretty hard to keep me around for as long as you did, and for that I’m thankful too.

“Thank you to the WWE Universe. You guys are the most passionate group of fans I’ve ever seen. Hope you continue to stay on this journey with me.

“I think the toughest part weirdly enough is having to let the Paige name go! But Saraya is helluva name. Kudos to my mum for that one.

“FYI I’m not saying I’ll never be in the ring. That day will most certainly come again! Wherever the return may be.

“Thank you WWE, Saraya —”

During a house show match in late 2017, Paige was injured. It was her neck that had been affected bad enough that WWE doctors wouldn’t clear her to perform in the ring, so she retired.

Paige had an onscreen role as a manager and appeared on FOX’s now-defunct WWE Backstage show. As of late, she hasn’t been as active in the non-wrestler role in WWE as before, which may explain why she’s leaving the company.

Riddle Being Kicked Off WWE SmackDown?

WWE may be setting up a stipulation that could see Riddle barred from SmackDown.

One-half of RK-Bro has made it a mission to find WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns and make him pay for his actions. Reigns cost RK-Bro their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title match against The Usos.

In storyline, The Bloodline is being credited with possibly ending the career of Randy Orton.

Riddle’s journey may come with a harsh consequence.

Riddle To Be Booted From SmackDown?

Fightful is reporting that Riddle is on tap for the June 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

In addition, there has reportedly been a pitch for Sami Zayn, an “honorary” member of The Usos, to try to get rid of Riddle on SmackDown for good.

One of the angles pitched was for Riddle to face Sami with the stipulation being that if Riddle loses, he can no longer appear on SmackDown.

The report notes that this was simply a pitch and it isn’t set in stone.

On the June 3 episode of SmackDown, Sami Zayn cost Riddle his tag team title match against The Usos by playing Roman Reigns’ theme song, causing a distraction.

Jim Ross Brought to Tears During AEW Show

0

Jim Ross has been through and seen a lot during his time in the pro wrestling business.

He got a chance to speak with Martha Hart, widow of Owen Hart at AEW Double Or Nothing where the promotion held the finals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament that saw Adam Cole win the men’s tournament while Britt Baker won the women’s.

The WWE Hall of Famer explained on Grilling JR how his backstage interaction with Martha went and noted that he got emotional.

“I had a chance in the little green room environment in there, to sit and chat with Martha,” Ross stated. “I did exactly what I told myself I was not going to do and that was cry. I couldn’t help it and so it was very emotional. She was a gracious and glorious host, shall we say, of this event.”

Not only did Ross call matches for WWE, but he was also Head of Talent Relations in the company and got to know Hart over the years. Hart passed away in May 1999 at the Over The Edge PPV when he fell from his harness while being lowered down into the ring as The Blue Blazer.

Ross broke the news to fans that Hart had passed away. WWE continued with the show, which was heavily criticized due to the nature of the situation.

WWE Officials Impressed by Rising SmackDown Talent

It appears one WWE SmackDown superstar has left a good impression on key company officials.

It’s no secret that WWE is in need of some stars. Roman Reigns, the company’s top dog, has taken a reduced schedule thanks to a new deal. Cody Rhodes is out of action for several months due to a torn right pec.

In particular, however, the SmackDown roster has been depleted but there’s one emerging star who seems to have impressed the movers and shakers under Vince McMahon’s empire.

Gunther Makes Good Impression

Fightful is reporting that Gunther has looked stellar in the eyes of “people of influence” within WWE.

It may explain why the man long known as “WALTER” is already receiving a WWE Intercontinental Title shot early in his main roster run.

He’ll be challenging Ricochet for the gold on the June 10 episode of SmackDown.

Gunther made significant changes to his body in preparation for a main roster callup. The former NXT UK Champion also moved to the United States. He insisted that WWE never pressured him to move, rather he felt it was something that was long overdue.

It was said in the report that Gunther’s dedication is why he’s gained a strong reputation with WWE officials.

The Rock Praises Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins For Their Hell In A Cell Match

0

The Rock gave his thoughts on the Hell In A Cell match from this past Sunday night between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes that saw Rhodes put on a gutsy performance by wrestling with a torn pectoral muscle.

Entering the match, Rhodes had two straight wins over Rollins, but unfortunately, he tore his pectoral tendon off the bone less than a week before it took place.

Rhodes went over in the match that was built around the injury with Rollins targeting it by using various weapons. Many fans have praised Rhodes for gutting through the injury to still put on the match.

Rhodes posted a reel from the match on social media, which drew the attention of The Rock. The Rock praised them on Twitter by writing the following: “Holy shit. Proud of both, you and Seth. Go make your money.”

On Thursday, Rhodes underwent successful surgery on his torn pec. Although Rhodes hinted at participating in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the premium live event on July 2nd, It is unknown when he will return to the ring, but former WWE medic Dr. Chao has said that Cody should be healed up within four to six months. He could even do some stuff within just over three months if it was carefully done.

WWE Raw Superstar Gets New Entrance Music

A superstar on the WWE Monday Night Raw brand is rocking new theme music.

WWE has never been afraid to make some changes to how its characters are presented on TV. WWE has long boasted about being able to “pivot on the fly.” It seems that’s what the company has done in this case.

This is actually the second time in a matter of months this particular superstar has had new entrance music.

Ciampa Receives New Tune

During the latest episode of Main Event, Ciampa went one-on-one with Reggie. Fans noticed something a bit different when the former NXT Champion made his way out.

Ciampa made his entrance with new music.

Back in March, his “No One Will Survive” theme had been changed. It appears WWE officials weren’t digging how the replacement theme sounded, so they went back to the lab for this new one.

Time will tell if it sticks.

Thunder Rosa’s Reported Next Challenger Won’t be from AEW

0

Thunder Rosa has been on a roll since debuting for AEW in 2020 and has dispatched of all challengers for her AEW Women’s World Championship.

Former Champion Nyla Rosa and wrestling veteran Serena Deeb are just some of the names who have failed to take the title from Rosa, but her next challenger may not be signed to AEW at all.

Thunder Rosa’s Next Opponent

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been talks about Rosa defending her title against Miyu Yamashita, a star from the Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling.

The idea for the match came about after Yamashita was said to have done extremely well in terms of streaming during a recent run in the United States.

Yamashita wrestled twice for Prestige Wrestling in Portland Oregon, defeating Impact’s Masha Slamovich on May 28 and fellow TJPW star Maki Itoh the next day.

Yamashita’s biggest match in the U.S. to date was on the June 1, edition of AEW Dark: Elevation, where she and Skyle Blue came up short against Nyla Rose and Deeb.

Who is Miyu Yamashita?

27-year-old Yamashita began her wrestling career in August 2013 as one of the first members of TJPW.

In 2016, she became the first-ever Tokyo Princess of Princess Champion and holds the records for the most reigns (3) and the most combined days as champion (1,065.)

Outside TJPW, Yamashita has a sole reign as Shine Champion with Shine Wrestling, and three reigns as Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion for DDT Pro-Wrestling.

With her strong kicks and karate-based offense, Yamashita is known as ‘Pink Striker’ in TJPW.

When videos of her devastating head kick circulated online, Yamashita was compared to AEW’s Malakai Black, and the two met when Yamashita worked on Dark: Elevation last week.

AEW Champion Set to Undergo MRI

One AEW Champion is scheduled for an MRI.

The wrestling business is hurting right now when it comes to injuries. For AEW, this was expected to be the “Summer of Punk” but CM Punk recently had to undergo foot surgery. Adam Cole has reportedly been dealing with a torn labrum.

On the WWE side, Cody Rhodes is expected to be out of action for four to six months after undergoing surgery for a torn right pectoral muscle.

Now, AEW is hoping another one of its current champions hasn’t sustained a serious injury.

Scorpio Sky Update

Last weekend, TNT Champion Scorpio Sky revealed he aggravated a knee injury during a recent title defense against Dante Martin. Sky said he was hoping that the issue isn’t too serious so that he can return to action soon.

In an update, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Sky is set to undergo an MRI soon.

Sky seemed to be moving around fine during the June 8 episode of Dynamite when he was cutting a promo. AEW has also planted the seeds for a future TNT Title match between Scorpio Sky and Wardlow.

Time will tell if Sky’s MRI results come back negative.

WWE Executive Suffers Torn Rotator Cuff

WWE executives clearly aren’t exempt from the injury bug going around in the wrestling industry.

Late spring certainly hasn’t been kind to promotions. On the WWE side, Cody Rhodes recently underwent successful surgery for a completely torn right pectoral muscle.

With AEW, CM Punk underwent foot surgery, while Adam Cole has reportedly been dealing with a torn labrum.

Now, we’ve got a WWE executive who needs his torn rotator cuff fixed.

Bruce Prichard’s Injury

During an episode of his Something To Wrestle With podcast, Bruce Prichard revealed he has suffered a torn rotator cuff.

“I have a torn rotator cuff. The plan is to get it fixed next Wednesday. Six months rehab. I had colitis. I changed my diet. I started working out. I started getting healthy and started feeling good.

“Actually, man, I put on weight because I’ve been working out and I’m getting stronger and all this good sh*t, feeling really good. But my shoulder was bugging me. So I was going in for treatments for my shoulder.”

Prichard detailed his experience getting the issue diagnosed.

“The doctor said, ‘Well, we’re gonna get the MRI.’ I went to the MRI. I won’t even tell you that story about having a panic attack in the MRI thing. That was pretty frightening, horrible because I’m claustrophobic and they put me in a tube that was the size for like your left toe.

“But anyway, I got it done. It’s torn and I’m gonna get it fixed. It got to the point where I just was in pain all day long and I don’t feel like being in pain all day long, so I’m just going to be in pain for six more months knowing that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

MVP Responds to Reports About Hotel Confrontation with Chris Jericho

0

MVP has responded to reports going around about a hotel confrontation he had with Chris Jericho recently.

A report has begun circulating from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter detailing a confrontation between Porter and Jericho at a Houston hotel from when All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was in town. MVP lives in Houston and was aware AEW would be passing through.

The pair ran into each other around 1a.m. while Jericho was speaking to Matt Hardy. This led to a heated argument, which apparently stems form a falling out they had 18 months prior.

Things never got physical, as Jericho at one point told Porter he doesn’t fight jobbers. This apparently enraged MVP. Now, MVP has taken to Twitter to address the report making the rounds.

MVP said that, although they got the story right, the details seem to be wrong.

MVP is currently working with WWE as an on-screen talent, alongside Omos as his manager. He did get into the ring at the Hell In A Cell premium event this past weekend, teaming with Omos in a handicap match against Bobby Lashley.

Lashley came out on top in the matchup when it was all said and done, despite the odds. MVP had previously been aligned with Lashley as his manager, standing by his side throughout his WWE Title run.

However, the ex-United States Champion turned on “The Almighty” shortly after WrestleMania 38, after MVP felt that Lashley pushed him to the side after returning from injury. Now, the manager has aligned himself with a new giant in Omos.

Planned Matches For WWE Money In The Bank (Report)

0

Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley is the only match confirmed for WWE Money in the Bank, but planning for upcoming premium live event is well underway.

According to the Wrestling Observer, The Usos vs. Matt Riddle and Shinsuke Nakamura for the Unified Tag Team Titles were scheduled for the show a week ago. However, WWE decided to do that match on SmackDown Live instead.

The new plan is to do The Usos vs. The Street Profits at the Vegas event. The story being The Street Profits beat The Usos in a non-title match on RAW, putting them in line for a shot at the titles.

Another match is a United States Title match between Theory and Bobby Lashley, which was teased recently.

WWE Money in the Bank takes place Saturday, July 2nd from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Money in the Bank Plans Changed

Initially, both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar were scheduled for the Money In The Bank show. However, both men were removed from advertising for the event, and the venue was downsized from the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium to the 17,000-seat MGM Grand Garden.

Although Reigns has been removed from advertising from the show, discussions of having him headline the show were had as late as last week. Instead, they’ll keep Reigns on ice for the two summer stadium shows.

Those being SummerSlam from Nashville on July 30, and Clash at the Castle in Cardiff on September 3.

Reason Why Major AEW Star Missed Dynamite

One former AEW World Champion wasn’t seen on the June 8 episode of Dynamite and now we know why.

This week’s episode of Dynamite was quite a newsworthy show. AEW introduced the All-Atlantic Championship, Will Ospreay of NJPW made his AEW TV debut, Jon Moxley earned an Interim AEW World Title opportunity, and much more.

There was quite a noticeable absence on the show, however.

Why Chris Jericho Wasn’t at Dynamite

Chris Jericho wasn’t seen on Dynamite this week. This left many confused as Jericho’s faction is involved in a prominent feud with Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz, and Blackpool Combat Club.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Jericho was on vacation with his family. The report notes that this was booked in advance three months ago.

On the special Road Ranger edition of AEW Dynamite on June 15, Jericho will face Ortiz in a hair vs. hair match. Jericho will also be involved in a Blood and Guts match on the June 29 episode of Dynamite.

Chris recently made waves after it was reported that he had a face-to-face confrontation with WWE superstar and manager MVP.
