Don’t Expect to see Forbidden Door Title Match Teased on AEW Dynamite

0

‘Hangman’ Adam Page isn’t expected to face Kazuchika Okada in singles action at the upcoming Forbidden Door event, despite calling him out on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

On last night’s show, Page defeated New Japan’s David Finlay and in a post-match segment, said he does not expect to get an AEW World Championship rematch anytime soon.

Instead of challenging for AEW’s top prize, Page challenged Okada, the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, to a title match at Forbidden Door.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that there are no plans for a singles match between Page and Okada at the crossover event on June 26.

While Meltzer had previously reported that this match was on the card, he later corrected himself, stating that the actual match card is being kept top secret.

It is believed that Meltzer was deliberately given a faked line-up for the Chicago-based event.

AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door: What do we know?

AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door won’t see Page and Okada face off in singles action, but the card is coming together for the show.

As confirmed on last night’s Dynamite, the first AEW All-Atlantic Champion will be crowned at the show, with a tournament already underway.

Last night’s show saw PAC defeat Buddy Matthews to advance to the semi-finals.

Forbidden Door will also see the crowning of an interim AEW World Champion while CM Punk recovers from his recent surgery.

Last night’s show saw Jon Moxley defeat Kyle O’Reilly, who had won a battle royal earlier in the night, to qualify for the title match.

Moxley will face either Hiroshi Tanahashi or Hirooki Goto at Forbidden Door, with his opponent to be determined at NJPW’s Dominion event.

Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release Just Got Even Weirder

0

Bray Wyatt remains a free agent nearly one year after his WWE release last summer. The 3-time WWE Champion has kept a low profile in recent months, despite expectations that a star of his caliber would resurface somewhere by now.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer hinted that there’s good reason that WWE has not re-signed the third generation Superstar.

During a discussion about plans to incorporate supernatural elements into Judgment Day faction, Meltzer dropped some cryptic information about Wyatt’s status.

“He was fired having to do with things that I probably shouldn’t talk about.”

Dave Meltzer on Bray Wyatt.

Why did WWE release Bray Wyatt?

“[Wyatt] was fired for reasons having nothing to do with being over or not over and he was not fired having to do with his gimmick,” said Meltzer (via Wrestling News).

“He was fired having to do with things that I probably shouldn’t talk about, so I’m not going to start a can of worms. It’s got nothing to do with that. He also had health issues, as far as being kept out of action and everything like that.”

Bray Wyatt was one of WWE’s highest-paid performers at the time of his release. Meltzer added that Wyatt was making nearly $4 million per year, behind only Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. This type of money explains why he hasn’t turned up elsewhere, such as AEW. It also shows how much WWE valued his services.

Wyatt’s Next Move

Earlier this month, there was speculation that Wyatt could return at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. That event came and went with no signs of the man behind The Fiend mask.

Bray Wyatt has been teasing a return to pro wrestling. You can read more about that story below:

Matt Hardy Reveals Hilarious Rib Owen Hart Pulled When They Met

0

Owen Hart pulled a hilarious rib on a young Matt Hardy when the pair first met in WWE.

Matt Hardy was recently a guest on Chris Jericho’s podcast, “Talk Is Jericho,” where he detailed the first time he met the late great Owen Hart. Hart was known as a notorious ribber, and Matt Hardy was on the receiving end during their first encounter.

Hart took Hardy aside before one of their matches and went over a spot with him that put some pain on Hardy’s knees.

The spot was ridiculous and after a few repetitions, Hardy finally asked if Hart was joking, to which Hart admitted he was.

“One of my favorite Owen stories is the first time he ribbed me, so to say,” Hardy said. “Like I didn’t know him, we were just extra.

“This is the fall of 1994, and I’m wrestling Owen in the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. So we’re there and he goes, ‘Oh yeah, people really like the Hardy kids.

“They take good bumps for all the guys. I really want to highlight you in the match. I have an idea, but I want to make sure you master it, that you’ve got it down.’ He said, ‘Follow me.’

“We walk out into the concourse, and he has this big tarp like you’d use to cover up something if it’s going to rain. A big plastic tarp.

“It’s laid out… he said, ‘Alright, let’s just get down on all fours in the center. Let’s pretend like this is the ring. Let’s say I take you down.

“I want you to take off like you’re trying to get to the ropes, but then I’ll stop you before you get there.

“Then you’ll go 90 degrees to your left and you try to get to the ropes there, and I’ll stop you again. Then you go 90 degrees to the left, and we’ll go to all four sides.

“It’ll really be like you’re resilient, and you’ll look great at this.’ I do it and we crawl, and he says, ‘That was really good. Let’s do it again.’ I was like, ‘God, this is going to hurt my knees.’ …

“We do it like four or five times, and then on the fifth time he’s asking me to do it, I go, ‘Dude, are you messing with me?’ He says, ‘Yes! What took you so long to catch on?!’”

Both Hardy brothers, Matt and Jeff, were fortunate enough to share the ring with Owen Hart in 1994, just before his untimely passing in 1999.

In fact, Matt Hardy recently shared a clip from their match on his Twitter account.

Hart was involved in a tragic accident during the Over The Edge pay-per-view (PPV) event in Kansas City, Missouri, where he fell from the rafters of the Kemper Arena, into the ring. This was prior to a scheduled match with The Godfather.

The match ultimately never took place due to Hart’s accident, which was briefly addressed by commentator Jim Ross on the live broadcast.

After being transferred to a nearby hospital, Hart was subsequently pronounced dead. Ross made the announcement on the show shortly thereafter, which continued on despite the incident.

The accident resulted in a broken relationship between WWE and Hart’s widow, Martha Hart. While WWE may not be getting Martha Hart’s blessing to go into the WWE Hall Of Fame anytime soon, she has allowed Hart’s name to resurface in professional wrestling.

Recently, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) hosted a men and women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, which was won by Adam Cole and Britt Baker, respectively. Martha Hart made appearances on AEW TV promoting the tournament.

Massive WWE Title Match Planned for SummerSlam

There will be a big fight feel for this year’s SummerSlam event when it comes to one title match.

WWE SummerSlam will take place inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30. Some big names are expected for the show.

Many anticipate the likes of Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte, and potentially Brock Lesnar to appear. With this being a stadium show and one of WWE’s biggest events of the year, the heavy hitters will be out in full force.

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that Roman Reigns is currently set to put the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line against Randy Orton at SummerSlam.

WWE has been running an injury storyline with Orton. The story told by WWE is that Orton could barely walk ahead of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title match against The Usos on the May 20 episode of SmackDown.

Sports Illustrated recently reported that Reigns isn’t scheduled to be on the Money in the Bank card. If that plan sticks, then Roman’s next title defense will likely be against Orton instead of Riddle.

The SmackDown brand has been feeling the effects of Roman’s new WWE deal in recent weeks. The new contract allows Reigns to work fewer dates and his absence has been noticeable on the blue brand.

WWE SummerSlam 2022 Preview

Venue Hilariously Botches Names of Two Top WWE Superstars

Name changes aren’t new in WWE but this venue botch takes the cake.

WWE superstars will be making their way to the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, NJ on Aug. 14. This is being billed as a “Sunday Stunner” event. In other words, it’s a house show.

This live event is set to feature the likes of Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, and others.

Introducing “Franklin” & “Ashule”

Reddit user “chairduck” noticed something rather odd on the official venue page advertising this particular “Sunday Stunner” show.

The page listed Seth’s nickname as “Franklin.” Asuka’s name is completely butchered, as she is referred to as “Ashule.”

Someone call Maffew of Botchamania.

Asuka has been feuding with Becky Lynch. The two challenged Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell on June 5 in a triple threat match. Belair picked up the win to successfully retain her gold.

As for Franklin Rollins, he recently attacked an injured Cody Rhodes despite suffering three losses in a row to “The American Nightmare.” While not official, one has to figure Seth will be in the Money in the Bank match on July 2nd.

WWE Nixed Plans of New Gimmick for Former Superstar

A former WWE Superstar was set for a fresh gimmick but plans went awry.

WWE is known for creating new gimmicks and changing characters. In the case of one former superstar, that was a sign that he was in store for something on the roster.

Unfortunately for him, it didn’t pan out that way.

Harry Smith Denied Initial Plans

Harry Smith entered WWE’s developmental system in 2006. He joined the main roster the following year. His greatest success with the company was during his tag team run with Tyson Kidd as The Hart Dynasty.

Smith ended up being released in the summer of 2011.

After having a resurgence in NJPW, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and MLW, Smith was brought back to WWE but he was never seen on TV during his second run.

During an interview with Inside The Ropes, Smith revealed that WWE never went through with plans to give him a new gimmick.

“I don’t know what they were waiting for, the only thing I was told was, I was going to be debuting on SmackDown and they were going to call me ‘The Stampede Stud.’

“It just never happened, it wasn’t my fault. I showed up more than in shape. I saw Vince and he was like ‘oh you’re looking good kid.’”

Smith competed in a dark match back in July 2021 but was released by the company in November of that year.

MJF Having Meetings About Pursuing a Career in Acting

0

AEW’s MJF has taken more steps to distance himself from the promotion, by having meetings about a possible career in acting.

On last week’s Dynamite, MJF cut a scathing promo about AEW and Tony Khan, claiming that he is being underappreciated and undervalued by the company President.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that many are under the impression that the “Salt of the Earth” is actively pursuing a career outside the ring.

“MJF has had a growing interest in pursuing Hollywood opportunities. According to his friends, as well as other consistent sources, MJF has been speaking more about the possibility of getting into acting. He’d mentioned this in an interview with Ariel Helwani, the same one that helped start the issues between him and AEW. He also claimed to have recorded a voiceover for an animated role that comes out next year. People within AEW have heard that MJF had meetings set up last week in LA later in the week to possibly explore that route. Many have heard this mentioned as far back as March.”

“According to his friends, as well as other consistent sources, MJF has been speaking more about the possibility of getting into acting.”

Sean Ross Sapp.

MJF no-showed a meet and greet with fans prior to AEW Double or Nothing and was destroyed by Wardlow at the Pay Per View.

While MJF was on last week’s Dynamite where he cut the now-infamous promo, there was no mention of him on last night’s episode.

MJF has also had his profile removed from the AEW roster and his merchandise pulled from AEWShop.com.

AEW Stars Leave Handwritten Notes for Fans at Latest Dynamite

0

Some lucky AEW fans got an extra special souvenir during last night’s taping of Dynamite and Rampage.

Last night’s taping took place at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri and saw the promotion continue on the road to AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door on June 26.

Prior to the show going live, Austin Gunn said that he and the Gunn Club had written notes which had been left under the seats throughout the arena.

Shortly after Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed shared a similar message, saying he and Max Caster had joined the Gunn Club with this idea.

The Gunn Club and The Acclaimed

Since The Acclaimed and the Gunns aligned, both groups have seen a rise in popularity, despite Anthony Bowens being unable to wrestle due to a knee injury.

The group has been riling up fans with their entrance, in which Caster performs his rap and the Gunn Club gets the name of the city wrong.

Bowens corrects them before doing his signature scissor taunt.

While neither team has captured the AEW World Tag Team Championships yet, both teams are quickly proving themselves to be all-rounders in Tony Khan’s promotion.

Both members of the Gunn Club and Max Caster competed in last night’s Casino Battle Royal, which was won by Kyle O’Reilly.

AEW Rampage Spoilers: Airing June 10, 2022

Following the June 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, Rampage was taped.

The show was taped inside Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, MO. Fans got to witness a grudge match between Eddie Kingston and Jake Hager.

Also on the card was a tag team match featuring Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh taking on Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett.

Red Velvet went one-on-one with former ally Kris Statlander.

Also featured was a six-man tag team match. Will Ospreay, Mark Davis, and Kyle Flecther of United Empire took on FTR and Trent Beretta.

  • Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh def. Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett

There was also a segment with both HOOK and Danhausen that was said to be humorous.

Roman Reigns Not Scheduled for Money in the Bank (Report)

It appears Roman Reigns is no longer on the docket for Money in the Bank.

Reigns is considered to be the biggest player in WWE at the moment. He is the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion but he’s taking the road less traveled these days.

“The Tribal Chief” inked a new deal with WWE that sees him work fewer dates. Some believe that the 37-year-old could be winding down his career and WWE will need to build new stars quickly.

For now, Reigns is still the top dog in WWE and his presence has been missed on Friday Night SmackDown.

Roman Reigns Reportedly Skipping MITB

Those hoping to see Roman Reigns in action at the Money in the Bank premium live event on July 2 may not want to hold their breath.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Reigns is no longer scheduled to be on the MITB card.

It had been reported that Reigns was likely to meet Riddle at MITB and then Randy Orton at SummerSlam. The dates were said to be interchangeable.

When WWE moved Money in the Bank from Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the company stopped advertising Roman for the show.

It’s possible that WWE could feel pressured to try to get Roman on the show since Cody Rhodes suffered a completely torn pectoral muscle and will be out of action for possibly four to six months.

What Happened After June 8 AEW Dynamite Went Off The Air

AEW Dynamite was live from the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, MO on June 8.

In the main event, Jon Moxley went one-on-one with Kyle O’Reilly to determine who would move on to Forbidden Door to compete for the Interim AEW World Championship.

Fans also witnessed a potential heel turn as Swerve Strickland eliminated his seemingly now-former tag team partner Keith Lee in the Casino Battle Royale. His post-match reaction was very telling.

There was also the introduction of the AEW All-Atlantic Championship.

Post-Show

During the main event of Dynamite, O’Reilly gave one heck of an effort against Moxley but he fell short. O’Reilly was pinned with the Paradigm Shift.

Earlier in the night, William Regal, the manager of Blackpool Combat Club, showed his respect to Kyle O’Reilly. Regal had served as a bit of a mentor to Kyle during his time in NXT.

After the match, Regal and O’Reilly looked close to embracing but Kyle ended up walking off in disappointment (via Erica Lee).

Special Look At Will Ospreay’s AEW Debut

Will Ospreay made his AEW debut on the show. With the help of The United Empire, he attacked FTR and Trent Beretta.

AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts captured footage and while this wasn’t after the show, it’s simply too good not to leave here.

Matt Cardona Speaks About The Timing Of His Injury (Exclusive)

0

Matt Cardona recently suffered a torn bicep at GCW Downward Spiral back on May 28th. The following Tuesday, Matt Cardona confirmed on Twitter that his bicep was torn after an MRI. He also revealed that he would be getting surgery and that he will be canceling upcoming dates.

Cardona was set to defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at NWA Alwayz Ready on June 11 against Nick Aldis. The title of the pay-per-view is a nod to Matt Cardona and his branding.

Steve Fall of SEScoops recently spoke with ‘Alwayz Ready’ Matt Cardona before NWA’s Alwayz Ready pay-per-view this Saturday to give an update on his injury.

Cardona Speaks About The Timing Of His Injury

Cody Rhodes recently competed at Hell In A Cell with a torn pectoral muscle. Cardona spoke about his mindset when he originally found out about the injury.

The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion said, “It’s not my choice. I didn’t walk into that GCW show, last Saturday in Vegas, [saying] ‘I can’t wait to tear my bicep tonight.’ You know, that wasn’t part of the plan. Stuff happens. Life happens. There is no good time to get injured. Certainly, this is the absolute worst time to get injured. I saw two doctors, one surgeon. I told myself, ‘Hey. Let’s see what the majority says.’ All three said surgery of course. Old school thinking had me [saying], ‘I want to tape it up and just go out there.’ It’s just not worth it. It’s not safe. I want to be doing this for a really, really long time.

It’s unfortunate that it’s near Alwayz Ready, a pay-per-view named after me. It’s my show. I was supposed to defend the Worlds Heavyweight Championship on it, and I will not be able to compete. I will be there, I will walk down that aisle, I will have the ten pounds of gold in my hand. Will I walk out with the ten pounds of gold? That’s up to Billy Corgan. I can’t make a decision for him, I don’t know the plan. I don’t have the pencil. We’ll see what happens. I’m always ready, even with this injury.”

Matt Cardona’s Injury Time Frame

Cardona provided a possible time frame for his injury, “I’ve been told three to five months. I’m obviously shooting for three months, but I don’t want to rush before I’m ready. I want to make sure that I’m 100% before I get in the ring. It’s not like I’m just taking this three or five month vacation. I’m still making towns. Last weekend, I did two shows. I didn’t wrestle, but I made appearances and signed some autographs. I’ll continue to do that all summer long. Whether it be conventions or wrestling shows, NWA, IMPACT, GCW, I’m still going to be everywhere, just not lacing up those boots.”

On June 11, Matt Cardona will make an appearance at the NWA Alwayz Ready pay-per-view. At that pay-per-view, we will find out the fate of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, as well as Matt Cardona’s reign with the championship.

SEScoops would like to wish Cardona a speedy recovery. SEScoops will work to keep fans updated on the status of Matt Cardona, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, and his injury.

AEW Star Possibly Turns Heel on Dynamite

An AEW star may have turned over to the dark side.

Dynamite aired live on June 8. The action was held inside the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, MO.

The event featured a Casino Battle Royale to determine who would meet Jon Moxley in the main event later that night. The winner of that match would go on to Forbidden Door to challenge for the Interim AEW World Championship.

Swerve Strickland Turns Heel?

Swerve Strickland and his (now seemingly former) tag team partner Keith Lee were in the Casino Battle Royale. The two had been working together when Strickland found the right opportunity and eliminated Lee.

While the action itself doesn’t immediately scream “heel turn,” Strickland had an evil grin on his face and received heavy boos from the crowd. He then eliminated Darby Allin, another fan favorite.

Strickland got too cocky and relished in the elimination, which ultimately led to him being eliminated himself.

In the biggest clue that Swerve Strickland may have turned heel, he took to his Twitter account to call Keith Lee “dead weight.”

Matt Cardona Defends Not Facing Nick Aldis At NWA Alwayz Ready (Exclusive)

0

Matt Cardona recently announced that he suffered a torn bicep on May 28 at GCW Downward Spiral.

Steve Fall of SEScoops recently spoke with ‘Alwayz Ready’ Matt Cardona before NWA’s Alwayz Ready pay-per-view this Saturday.

Matt Cardona Will Sue Nick Aldis If He Touches Him

When first speaking with Cardona about the aggression Nick Aldis has shown recently, Cardona repsonded, “First of all, you know, Nick Aldis is so upset that he can’t get his hands on me. I know he just wants to punch me right in the mouth. He won’t be able to do it at Alwayz Ready.

If he does, he’ll be sued. I will get Michael Dockins on him, Mark Sterling, my two lawyers on him. This will not be a match. There will be no match.”

Cardona Speaks About Being The Face Of The NWA While Unable To Compete

Cardona continued by speaking about what his injury means for his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship title reign, “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know if there is going to be some sort of match for the title. I don’t know if I’m going to have to give up the title. I’m prepared to do so. I am a fighting champion, and I will not be able to defend it all summer. I get it.

I’ve been saying all along, ‘I want to be the face of the company. I want to be the face of the NWA. I want to bring this title all over.’ While I still can bring it all over the place, I won’t be able to defend it. So, we’ll see what Billy says, but I’ll tell you what.

When I got that NWA title, when I beat Trevor Murdoch, that thing was brand spanking new. Not a scratch on it. You look at it now, scratches, dents, the gold is fading, because I bring it everywhere. I’m a proud champ. I bring it out with me to all my shows. I bring it to all my conventions. It’s in my sweaty gear bag. It stinks. It’s disgusting. That’s how the NWA Worlds Title should be. We’ll see what Billy wants to do with it.”

Matt Addresses The NWA Locker Room

“I walk in, and I just take the title. I go right into that main event scene. It wasn’t just him that I annoyed. It was all the boys in the back. They’re thinking I was there to take their spot, and I took their spot. I had my own damn spot. They can have their spots. I don’t want your spot. I have my own damn spot.

It’s not my fault that the people gravitate towards me, whether they love me or hate me. Whether they wanna see me get my a*s kicked or see me kick a*s, the people are invested in me. Nick is smart to want to wrestle me, to leech off me, to get some of my buzz,” Cardona addressed those speculating that the injury was a ‘work.’

AEW Introduces All-Atlantic Championship

All Elite Wrestling revealed a new championship on the June 8 episode of Dynamite.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Tournament

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Tournament Brackets

A tournament is already underway to crown the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion at the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV on June 26.

A match between PAC and Buddy Matthews was held to determine who moves on in the hunt for the gold. PAC ended up winning.

Also in contention for the championship are Miro, Ethan Page, Penta Oscuro, and Malakai Black.

Miro will face Page, while Penta will take on Black to determine who joins PAC in their journey to the championship.

One has to wonder if this will be AEW’s new secondary title. Judging by the participants to determine the first champion, that assumption might be correct.

There has been plenty of criticism over how the TNT Championship has been booked. Many believe the title has been devalued since Miro’s reign ended.

Will Ospreay and the United Empire rushed the ring and beat everyone down.

Wardlow Wants The TNT Championship

Tony Schiavone interviewed Wardlow in the ring tonight on Dynamite. Wardlow welcomed everyone to “Wardlow’s World” and claimed he didn’t want to be in the Battle Royale because he wants to be the one to take the championship from CM Punk. Wardlow shouted that he wants the TNT Championship and Scorpio Sky started making his way down the ramp. Dan Lambert and Ethan Page stopped him and they retreated backstage.

Mark Sterling then cut a backstage promo in front of a bunch of AEW security guards. Sterling gave Wardlow two options, he can face him in court or battle 20 security guards in an Elimination match next week.

Thunder Rosa Retained The AEW Women’s Title

Thunder Rosa defended the AEW Women’s Championship against Marina Shafir tonight on Dynamite. The Kansas City Chiefs offensive line was shown in the front row of the crowd before the match. Shafir and the champion locked up to start off the match. Shafir hit a knee to the face and sent Thunder Rosa to the corner. Marina continued to dominate the action as Dynamite went to a commercial break.

When Dynamite returned, the AEW Women’s Champion battled back and hit Marina with Double Knees to the face. Rosa hung up Shafir on the ropes and delivered a Dropkick to the face. Marina lifted Rosa up for a slam but she countered into a roll-up for a near fall. Rosa then rolled Shafir up again for the pinfall victory and retained the AEW Women’s Championship.

Marina Shafir attacked Thunder Rosa after the match and locked in a submission hold until Toni Storm broke it up. Thunder Rosa hit the Fire Thunder Driver on Shafir as Toni Storm took a look at the AEW Women’s Championship. Toni handed it to Thunder Rosa but the seeds were planted for a future title match for Storm.

Jon Moxley Will Challenge For The Interim AEW Title At Forbidden Door

Jon Moxley battled Kyle O’Reilly in the main event of tonight’s Dynamite. The winner of the match will challenge for the interim AEW Championship at Forbidden Door as AEW Champion CM Punk is out with injury. William Regal joined commentary for the match.

O’Reilly and Moxley locked up in the middle of the ring to start the match. Moxley took Kyle down to the mat but O’Reilly escaped. O’Reilly booted Moxley in the back of the knee and locked up with him again in the middle of the ring. Moxley smacked O’Reilly in the face a couple of times before dragging him down to the canvas with an armbar. Kyle escaped and traded forearms to the face with Moxley.

Kyle focused his attack on Moxley’s knee but Jon responded with a series of Clotheslines against the turnbuckle. Moxley charged but O’Reilly exploded out of the corner with a Dropkick to the knee and then hit a Dragon Screw in the ropes. Kyle climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit a Knee Drop as Dynamite went to the final break of the night.

When Dynamite returned, Moxley connected with a lariat and went for the cover but O’Reilly kicked out at two. The action spilled out of the ring and O’Reilly hit Moxley with a Dropkick against the barricade. Back in the ring, Kyle leveled Moxley with a boot to the face. Moxley popped up and planted O’Reilly with a Cutter. Jon went for a Gotch-Style Piledriver but O’Reilly countered into a Triangle.

Jon battled free with elbow strikes to the face and connected with the Piledriver for a near fall. O’Reilly and Moxley traded Clotheslines in the middle of the ring and both men fell down. They slowly got back up and Moxley locked in the Bulldog Choke. Kyle turned bright red but refused to quit. Moxley hit him with a running knee to the face and then the Paradigm Shift for the pinfall victory. Jon Moxley will challenge for the Interim AEW Championship at Forbidden Door.

Rush Isn’t Signed With AEW Yet, But Wants to Work With the Best

0

As it turns out, Rush is not All Elite, after all.

The world-renowned luchador made a surprise appearance at last month’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view. During a backstage segment, Andrade El Idolo announced he was dissolving the AFO faction. He then introduced Rush as his new business associate.

The former Los Ingobernables partners could raise hell in AEW, but Rush reveals he’s not under contract with the promotion.

In a new interview with Lucha Libre Online, Rush says he’s working limited dates for AEW and is negotiating with Tony Khan about signing a contract.

Rush’s Status with AEW

“I am grateful to Tony Khan for giving me the opportunity,” said Rush. We are still under talks and negotiations. For now, there are just dates.”

– Rush isn’t signed with AEW just yet

“I already did the first jump, which is being in the PPV, and not just a segment, but they gave it the value that both Rush and Andrade have. They left that promo for the end. Nobody expected it, not even my own family.”

RUSH debuts at AEW Double or Nothing 2022

After holding the ROH World Championship twice, Rush now has his focus locked on All Elite Wrestling. He sees dream matches with AEW’s top stars and isn’t shy about name-dropping who he wants to work with.

“For now, my objective is AEW, I am now in AEW and I want to face the biggest names. I want everything! I am not going for the minimum. You name it! CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Moxley, Samoa Joe, the best they have.”

He continued, “Imagine Rush vs Samoa Joe. There’s a lot of material. Bryan Danielson vs Toro Blanco Rush, two ex ROH World Champions against each other. There’s Moxley, which they state is the most extreme one. They need to see a real Mexican badass. A lot of people have requested this match… Rush vs. Kenny Omega. We can finally have that match.”

Big Name Could Miss WWE Clash at the Castle

WWE may be without one of its top voices for Clash at the Castle.

The big Sept. 3 event is scheduled to take place inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The event is expected to break the all-time record for the highest WWE live gate outside of WrestleMania.

While Clash at the Castle is expected to have some heavy hitters, one prominent name could be missing.

Pat McAfee Missing Clash at the Castle?

During a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the SmackDown color commentator was having a conversation with UFC President Dana White.

The two were discussing the June 11 UFC 275 card in Singapore. At some point during the chat, Dana offered McAfee to attend a UFC event in Paris, France scheduled for the same day as Clash at the Castle.

Pat accepted Dana’s offer to attend the event.

It’s possible that in the heat of the moment, McAfee simply forgot that WWE was holding a major event that same day. With that said, Pat McAfee recently missed the Hell in a Cell premium live event.

McAfee said the reason he didn’t attend is that all parties agreed the trip wasn’t worth it for just one SmackDown match.

Major Change Made to AEW Dynamite Tonight

A big change has been made to a pivotal match on the June 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.

This week’s edition of Dynamite will get started with a battle royal to determine who will meet Jon Moxley in the main event of the show.

The winner will move on to Forbidden Door to face the winner of Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hiroki Goto for the Interim AEW World Championship.

CM Punk has been forced to undergo surgery due to an injury. AEW did not want Punk to relinquish the title, so an interim championship is being put in place.

Battle Royal Change

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio hours before Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan broke the news that tonight’s opener will now be contested under Casino Battle Royale rules.

There will be 21 entrants split into four groups of five at three-minute intervals. There will also be a “Joker” entrant, who will be the last to enter.

Keep it locked on the SEScoops homepage for live coverage of AEW Dynamite tonight.

Jeff Hardy Felt “Ashamed” Chasing the WWE 24/7 Championship

0

AEW’s Jeff Hardy has opened up about his experiences with WWE prior to his release last year.

In December 2021, Hardy was cut from the company after refusing to enter rehab following a concerning performance at a WWE Live event.

The event saw Hardy flee through the crowd after being tagged into his match and he did not return for the rest of the show.

All tests carried out later determined that Hardy had no substances in his body that caused this behavior.

Three months prior to his release, Jeff was involved in a segment chasing the 24/7 Championship which led to a backlash among fans who thought he deserved better.

Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Jeff discussed feeling “ashamed” when he was added to the chase for the 24/7 Championship.

“I was pretty crushed that day, I was like, ‘Okay, this is it, I don’t know why I am here, they’re really doing this to me,’” Jeff said. “That’s not an arrogant thing to say … I shouldn’t be doing that, but I did it and I was like, ‘Man, what does this mean?’”

Jeff Hardy

Jeff did not win the 24/7 Championship during his time in the division which only made fans angrier about the situation.

Despite feeling ashamed to be involved in the 24/7 title hunt, Jeff said that he still believes he is “easy to work with” and will “do pretty much whatever.”

Jeff joined AEW in March 2022 despite WWE’s best efforts to lure him back once his drug tests came back negative.

Hardy turned down an offer to return and WWE Hall of Fame induction, believing he should be inducted alongside his brother Matt.

Triple H Attends Declan McMahon’s High School Graduation (Photos)

0

Triple H recently attended the graduation ceremony of his nephew, Declan McMahon, the son of brother-in-law Shane McMahon.

Declan graduated from the Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn. During his time there, he played football for the school, at positions such as running back and quarterback. Now, he’ll head to Indiana University, where he’ll also play football.

Recently, Declan took to Instagram to share some photos from his graduation ceremony, where he posed with uncle Triple H. Check out the photos here.

As for Declan’s father, Shane, he’s currently on the outs in WWE. This began back in January at the Royal Rumble. Shane took a lot of heat for his part in helping produce the Men’s Royal Rumble.

Shane was actually involved in the match. Plans for Shane to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, as well as being part of the Elimination Chamber match this past February, were scrapped.

He also reportedly pushed to work with Theory at WrestleMania 38, with Vince McMahon also being involved, however, those plans ultimately ended up with Pat McAfee. Declan’s aunt, Stephanie McMahon, recently decided to take time off from the company.

Stephanie McMahon announced a leave of absence to spend more time with her family, leading to WWE searching for a replacement for her position. Her husband, Triple H, is now back with WWE full-time.

“The Game” did deal with a health scare earlier this year, which forced him to retire from in-ring competition. He later revealed that he was dealing with affects from pneumonia and heart complications.

Two WWE Raw Stars Moved to NXT Roster

0

WWE has changed its internal roster following Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

As previously noted, Apollo Crews returned to WWE NXT last night following Bron Breakker asking for someone new to step up to be his new challenger.  In the main event, Crews teamed with Solo Sikoa where they beat Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller.

Crews is back in NXT to stay as PWInsider reports that he is now officially internally listed as part of the NXT roster as is Commander Azeez.

Azeez did not appear on last night’s show with Crews so it remains to be seen if they will be paired moving forward.

WWE put the two stars together from WWE WrestleMania 37 onward. When Crews showed up on NXT TV, he had dropped his Nigerian accent that he was using all throughout his time as a heel on the main roster with Azeez.

Crews worked briefly in NXT when he first joined WWE, but was called up after WrestleMania 32 in 2016. Azeez, also known as Babatunde and Dabba Kato, never had a notable run in NXT. He worked The Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia back in 2018.

WWE Reveals “Injury” Update on Edge

WWE has provided a storyline injury on WWE superstar Edge.

Edge had been leading The Judgment Day faction to great success on Monday Night Raw. Together, the faction continued to rack up big wins, including a victory at Hell in a Cell over the team of AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan.

Despite this, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley turned on Edge during the June 6 episode of WWE Raw. Priest, Ripley, and new member Balor attacked Edge and kicked him out of the group.

The segment ended with Priest nailing a Conchairto on Edge.

Edge’s Status

During the latest episode of The Bump, WWE announced Edge’s storyline injury. The company claims he suffered a “non-displaced” orbital floor fracture as a result of the attack.

It had been reported by Fightful that Edge was unhappy with WWE’s plans to turn The Judgment Day into a more “supernatural” group.

The report also noted that plans for Edge to be kicked out of the group weren’t finalized until shortly before Raw went on the air.

There had been talks of turning Finn heel before Hell in a Cell but at that point, plans for the group to turn on Edge hadn’t been in place.

PWInsider reported that Edge will be a babyface going forward.

Details on WWE’s Involvement in Vice TV’s New Wrestling Project

0

We have some new information about Vice TV’s new wrestling series.

Dark Side of the Ring is on hold after three controversial seasons. Despite its popularity, the show was considered toxic due to the negative attention it generated, as well as questionable editing that had participants such as Jim Ross swearing off future involvement.

During the planning stages of a fourth season of Dark Side, several legends who were contacted passed on doing on-camera work. Understandably, the explosive Plane Ride From Hell episode is seen as a turning point for the show.

Vice understands the need to go in a different direction. Dark Side creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener are involved with the new project, which will have a much softer, “sanitized” tone.

According to a source involved with production, the format of the new show has been described as “campfire talks” about the old days of wrestling.

We’ve heard the network is discussing a mid-September premiere.

WWE Involvement

Unlike Dark Side of the Ring, WWE will be heavily involved with the new series. Vice will have access to the company’s vast archives, as well as WWE-contracted talent.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently participated in filming that’s underway in Los Angeles. Additional WWE legends are scheduled to film in the weeks ahead.

WWE has a lucrative relationship with A&E, a company that has an ownership stake in Vice. Expect to see a show that resembles WWE’s “softball” programming on A&E, instead of the exposé format of Dark Side that explored some of wrestling’s most disturbing urban legends.

Kane Praises Vince McMahon For Perfecting PPV Model

0

WWE Hall Of Famer Kane praises Vince McMahon for perfecting the pay-per-view (PPV) model.

Kane was recently a guest on the Honest Offense podcast and praised his longtime boss for his impact on the business. “The Big Red Machine” noted, while McMahon didn’t invent the PPV model, he certainly perfected it.

“You look at pay-per-view, if you go to www.payperview.com, you get redirected to WWE. Vince did not invent pay-per-view, but you can make an argument that he was the guy that perfected it.

“He was ahead of the curve there. We had a huge presence on the internet in 1995, before anyone really knew what the internet was. We were doing chat rooms and all sorts of stuff.

“Then, you look at the app that came out, which was kind of not great, but he recognized before a lot of people did that folks were migrating away from their TV and to their computer and now they are migrating from their computer to a handheld device.

“When the app came out, we were like, ‘we’re behind the curve.’ The reason for that was, they were thinking about WWE Network, which originally was going to be a cable network, and then he decided ‘we’re going put it online, move all the pay-per-views to a monthly subscription,’ we all thought he was crazy for that because pay-per-view made up half the companies revenue.

“He was completely changing the business model. I remember, the stock sunk, ‘Vince McMahon is an idiot,’ people were talking about suing. Now, the company is making more money than ever.

“Vince is not a huge technophile, I don’t even know if he can login to his own email, but he doesn’t have to. All he has to do is see where the trends are going and he gets ahead of them, everyone thinks he’s crazy, sure enough, he’s making all the money.

“That’s his true brilliance. He can figure out where entertainment, technology, and delivery is going and he ends up getting there first. It’s like he has a weird ESP about it.“

Kane has worked alongside McMahon since 1995 when he signed with WWE. He was ushered into the company in one of the biggest storylines of all time, portraying the Kane character in 1997, who was introduced as The Undertaker’s brother.

The rest, as they say, was history. Kane is a two-time World Champion in WWE, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, and an 11-time Tag Team Champion with partners such as The Undertaker, Daniel Bryan, X-Pac, and more.

Now, Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, is in the political ring, currently serving as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
