Title Match Pulled From WWE Night Of Champions

0

The card for this Saturday’s WWE Night of Champions premium live event has undergone a significant change. On the June 23 episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that the scheduled Intercontinental Championship match between Dominik Mysterio and AJ Styles will no longer be taking place at the event in Saudi Arabia.

During the broadcast, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce informed an unhappy AJ Styles that his title match was off. The reason given was that the situation was connected to Liv Morgan’s recent injury, though further details were not provided.

The reason for Mysterio’s removal from the event has not been officially confirmed. In the segment, Styles was promised the next opportunity at the Intercontinental Championship whenever Mysterio is able to defend it again.

Night of Champions is scheduled to take place this Saturday, June 28, leaving WWE with little time to add a replacement match to the card. The removal of the Intercontinental Championship defense leaves a notable spot open on the card for the major international event. Here is the updated card for the show:

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena vs. CM Punk

United States Champion Jacob Fatu vs. Solo Sikoa

King of the Ring tournament finals

Queen of the Ring tournament finals

Update On WWE Night Of Champions After Airspace Shutdown Reports

0

There is an update on the status of this weekend’s WWE events in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following reports of regional tensions and travel disruptions. While a handful of WWE employees are currently stuck in Qatar, the setup for Night of Champions is reportedly continuing as scheduled.

Reports from PWInsider and Fightful Select have clarified the situation after news of temporary airspace shutdowns near Qatar caused concern. According to PWInsider, five WWE staffers are currently stuck at Dohar Airport in Qatar while waiting for a connecting flight into Riyadh. However, the majority of the production crew has been in Saudi Arabia for over a week, with some staff arriving as early as the week of June 9. Setup for the event has been underway and is said to be continuing on schedule.

According to Fightful Select, as of Monday evening, the plan was still for the event to take place, with government meetings reportedly being held in Saudi Arabia. WWE talent scheduled for the trip had not been informed of any changes to their travel plans as of Monday afternoon and are still expected to fly over mid-week on a charter plane. Talent who were spoken to for the report said they expect that WWE is figuring things out like everyone else is.

For those who have asked, the reports also reiterate that talent are no longer given a separate bonus for the Saudi Arabia shows, as that compensation is now included in their main contracts.

WWE’s Eugene Makes In-Ring Return At RevPro Revolution Rumble

0

Fans attending RevPro Revolution Rumble 2025 this week were given a blast from the past with a surprise appearance by Eugene. During the show’s titular Rumble match, the former WWE World Tag Team Champion made quite the impression.

Though Eugene, as played by Nick Dinsmore, impressed in the ring, he didn’t leave with the win. Instead, it was Sha Samuels who emerged on top, outlasting Eugene and 28 other wrestlers in the show’s main event.

In the Ruthless Agression era, few characters were more controversial than Eugene. The character, the kayfabe nephew of Eric Bischoff, was portrayed as someone with learning disabilities, which caused a backlash at the time. While some found the character offensive, WWE tried to portray it as an empowering portrayal of someone who had overcome obstacles to achieve their dream.

Even today, the debate over the Eugene character rages on, as many on X have expressed their anger at RevPro for using the controversial character. Clearly, the character continues to stir up a lot of debate, over 20 years after Eugene first arrived on WWE programming.

Jerry Lawler Opens Up About Memory Loss After 2023 Stroke

0

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler suffered a stroke in 2023, a health concern that continues to plague the WWE Hall of Famer to this day. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Lawler opened up about the cognitive struggles he’s still facing. On the show, Lawler tried and failed to recall the name of CM Punk when discussing facing one of WWE’s biggest-ever stars in the ring.

“Oh gosh, I just can’t think of their names… One of them is one of the top heels or babyfaces right now.”

Lawler only remembered Punk’s name thanks to the prompting of Mark Henry, and this would not be his only struggle with memory during the show. After failing to recall the name of Terry Funk, a man Lawler had some of his iconic matches with, The King reflected on how the stroke has affected him.

“My mind just goes because of the stroke… I’m m sorry, I just have these… I don’t know… these bouts with my strokes and stuff like that, but I just can’t help it.”

Despite these challenges, Lawler continues to make public appearances. But his recent interview shows the honest, difficult reality of what life after a stroke can look like—even for wrestling royalty.

Olympic Gold Medalist Aaron Wolf Signs with New Japan Pro Wrestling

0

Olympians have been part of pro wrestling for decades and now New Japan Pro Wrestling has an Olympic Gold Medalist to its name. In a press conference, NJPW shared that Aaron Wolf has signed with the promotion. Wolf won the 2021 Olympic gold medal in judo at 100 kg as part of that year’s games in Tokyo, Japan.

During the press conference, Wolf shared how his journey to New Japan Pro Wrestling came about:

“I’ve just come from my last judo tournament… I approached NJPW with the idea to come into professional wrestling. Since I was a college student, I always looked forward to seeing Pro-Wrestling and seeing how cool and aspirational these figures were. I realised this would be a new way to express myself outside of judo.”

New Japan President Hiroshi Tanahashi was also at the press conference and was excited for Wolf to join. Not only is Wolf joining NJPW, but his debut will come at WrestleKingdom 2026.

“I have seen first hand Wolf’s passion for professional wrestling and welcome him to NJPW and have high expectations for him. I would like for Aaron to make his pro-wrestling debut on January 4 2026 at the Tokyo Dome. Please look forward to my retirement match as well as Wolf’s debut.”

Wolf isn’t taking his impending debut lightly and made clear he’s aware that the wrestling world’s eyes will be upon him. As one era ends on January 4, fans will perhaps see the dawning of the Aaron Wolf era.

Goldberg’s WWE Schedule For Final Run Revealed

0

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is confirmed for tonight’s Monday Night Raw to continue the build toward his retirement match against World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.

A report from PWInsiderElite.com has provided an update on Goldberg’s upcoming schedule. The plan is for him to appear on all episodes of Raw leading to the Saturday Night’s Main Event special on July 12, with the exception of next week’s show in Pittsburgh.

Last week, Goldberg returned to confront GUNTHER. The WWE Legend challenge GUNTHER to a match after their segment at Bad Blood last year. After the segment, which GUNTHER accepted, it was confirmed to be a World Title Match. It’s also expected to be Goldberg’s last match of his wrestling career.

Goldberg is expected to address the champion on tonight’s broadcast to continue the story ahead of their championship clash next month.

Athena vs Thunder Rosa for ROH Women’s Title Reportedly Planned for AEW All In: Texas

0

A highly anticipated championship match appears to be taking shape for AEW’s upcoming All In: Texas event, as Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer revealed that Athena is expected to defend her ROH Women’s Championship against Thunder Rosa.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer indicated that while the match hasn’t been officially announced, the direction has been clear for some time.

“That is the plan. I don’t know that it’s been announced, but it’s been pretty clear for a couple weeks” – Dave Meltzer, Wrestling Observer Radio

Championship Implications

This potential matchup would mark a significant moment for both competitors. Athena has established herself as a dominant ROH Women’s Champion, bringing prestige and visibility to the title through her reign. Meanwhile, Thunder Rosa would be looking to reclaim championship gold and add the ROH Women’s Title to her accomplished resume.

The match would also represent the continued integration of Ring of Honor championship matches into major AEW pay-per-view events, showcasing the importance Tony Khan places on elevating the ROH brand through high-profile platforms like the All In series.

All In: Texas Expectations

AEW All In: Texas is shaping up to be another marquee event for the company, following the success of previous All In shows. Adding a ROH Women’s Championship match featuring two of the most respected competitors in women’s wrestling would provide another compelling reason for fans to tune in.

Both Athena and Thunder Rosa bring strong fan followings and proven track records of delivering in high-stakes championship scenarios. Their potential clash would likely serve as a highlight of the event’s card.

Dave Meltzer Reveals WWE’s Original Championship Plans for Jade Cargill

0

According to Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE had significant championship plans for Jade Cargill that were derailed by her injury in late 2024. Most intriguingly, he believes the ideal cash-in scenario would involve Naomi using her Money in the Bank briefcase on Cargill as champion.

“The perfect thing for Naomi to cash-in is Jade (Cargill) as Champion, as far as like how the storyline goes, & you know, Jade was supposed to be Champion if she hadn’t gotten hurt. Jade was supposed to be Champion by WrestleMania, and defending it at WrestleMania.” – Dave Meltzer

WWE’s Scrapped Championship Timeline

Meltzer’s revelation provides fascinating insight into how Cargill’s mysterious injury angle in November 2024 completely altered WWE’s championship landscape. The original plan would have seen Cargill capture championship gold and defend it at WrestleMania 41, positioning her as a major player heading into the biggest event of the year.

Instead, Cargill was written off television after a backstage attack angle on the November 22 episode of SmackDown. WWE officially listed her with multiple injuries including deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, sprained MCL, and facial lacerations. However, conflicting reports emerged about whether the injury was legitimate or storyline-related.

Current Storyline Implications

Meltzer’s comments take on added significance considering current events. Naomi captured the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase on June 7, 2025, defeating Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Alexa Bliss, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer in the ladder match. This makes her the first Black woman to win the Money in the Bank contract.

The two wrestlers have recent history, with Cargill defeating Naomi at WrestleMania 41 in April. Their storyline connection, combined with WWE’s apparent long-term plans for Cargill as champion, creates the exact scenario Meltzer described as “perfect” for a cash-in.

Cargill’s Road to Recovery and Return

Following months of uncertainty about her status, Cargill returned to WWE programming at Elimination Chamber in March 2025. Her comeback culminated with a victory over Naomi at WrestleMania 41, marking her first major singles win since returning from the extended absence.

Recent reports indicate Cargill has been training at the WWE Performance Center and working on entertainment projects outside of wrestling during her time away. Her return suggests WWE remains committed to the championship push that was originally planned before her injury.

Money in the Bank Success Rate

The timing couldn’t be better for such a storyline, as every Ms. Money in the Bank winner has successfully cashed in their contract over the past eight years. This perfect success rate puts additional pressure on WWE to craft a compelling cash-in story for Naomi, and Meltzer’s suggested scenario provides a logical path forward.

With Naomi now holding the briefcase and WWE’s apparent long-term championship plans for Cargill back on track, wrestling fans may soon witness the exact storyline that Meltzer described as the “perfect” cash-in scenario. The question isn’t whether it will happen, but when WWE decides to pull the trigger on this compelling narrative thread.

The Undertaker On American Badass Gimmick: “I Thought It Had More Legs”

0

During the latter stages of the Attitude Era and into the Ruthless Agression Era, The Undertaker famously switched his character to the “American Badass,” a biker persona that was a stark departure from his “Deadman” gimmick.

In an exclusive interview with Andrew Ravens of WrestleStar, he reflected on that period and admitted he felt the character could have lasted longer.

“Yeah, no, I thought it had more legs,” The Undertaker said. “I think really, we just kind of began to scratch the surface of what the range of that character would have been.”

He also shed light on the creative dynamic with Vince McMahon at the time, noting that while the former WWE Chairman supported the change, he was always keen on bringing back the original Undertaker.

“It was just, you know, just sometimes you can only fight the man so long and, you know, he loved—Vince, I’m talking about Vince—he loved his Undertaker,” he explained. “He was on board when I came up with the American Badass… he understood my reasoning and my logic behind doing it. But he was also like, always waiting on the day of the return. You know, the hat, the coat….But yeah, I thought it had more legs. But yeah, everything worked out all right.”

Canelo Alvarez Teases Future WWE Appearance

0

A major name from the world of boxing may be making his way to a WWE ring in the future. Canelo Alvarez, the reigning Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion, hinted at a potential appearance during a recent press conference.

The press event was to promote the boxing superfight between Alvarez and Terence Crawford, which will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 13, 2025. The event is being promoted by UFC President Dana White under his new boxing venture, which falls under the TKO Group Holdings corporate umbrella alongside WWE and UFC. This corporate synergy has led to increased crossover between the brands.

When asked at the press conference about potentially appearing on WWE programming, Alvarez gave a response that suggested discussions have already taken place.

“We’re talking about it,” Alvarez said. “Maybe. Maybe you will see me in WWE at some point.”

While Alvarez has not yet appeared for WWE, his opponent, Terence Crawford, made a notable appearance on the July 26, 2024, episode of SmackDown. During the show, Crawford was involved in a physical angle where he laid out former United States Champion Austin Theory with a punch, showing that WWE is open to featuring these high-profile boxers on their programming.

Mick Foley Reveals Farewell Tour, What He’ll Do After

0

Farewell tours have become increasingly commin in wrestling, from John Cena’s in-ring goodbye to Sting retiring his face-painted look by the end of this year. Now, Mick Foley has revealed when he plans to say goodbye to the industry he holds dear.

Foley appeared on D-Von Dudley’s YouTube channel where he discussed his career and life in wrestling. As he reflected on the future, Foley shared that he plans to walk away from wrestling in 2028.

“I’m going to go back out on the road again for one final tour in 2028 for the 30 Years of Hell Tour, and the idea is to hang it up completely, fix my teeth, maybe start wearing nice clothes so no one knows who I am, and just disappear into the night.”

2028 will mark three decades since Foley’s infamous showdown with The Undertaker, both in, and atop the Hell in a Cell structure. Foley’s performance that night, including being thrown off and later through the cell, remains one of the most iconic moments in WWE history.

Though Foley’s final match for WWE was as part of the 2012 Royal Rumble match, he continues to make appearances and tours around the world. Now, fans know they have mere years to see the Hardcore legend one last time.

The season premiere also shared the rules for this season of WWE LFG:

We’re just one episode into season two of WWE LFG but drama is already brewing. In a heated scene, Booker T, one of the judges, stormed out, claiming he should have won season one. Fans can expect plenty more from WWE LFG as the company’s search for its next two signings continues.

TNA’s Elijah Was Robbed at WrestleCon in Las Vegas

0

TNA Wrestling’s Elijah has had a rough time as of late, as he is dealing with an injury suffered during a recent match for WWE NXT. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the wrestler was also the victim of theft during his last WrestleCon appearance.

On Keepin’ It 100, Konnan shared that Elijah was robbed at the convention which this year took place in Las Vegas for WrestleMania week. Only a single item was left on Elijah’s table as the thieves made off with everything else he planned to sell.

“Somebody stole his stuff—like the table, like everything. The only thing they didn’t take, I think, was his guitar. But all his other stuff, like his bag and everything, somebody took it, which is pretty crappy.”

Elijah suffered a torn triceps during the June 17, episode of WWE NXT. The injury occurred after delivering a double knee to the chest of his opponent, followed by a hard landing. He has since undergone successful surgery to repair the damage.

Now that he’s out of the ring, Elijah will be counting on convention appearances to help make money while he can’t wrestle, making this theft all the more disturbing. We at SEScoops are continuing to wish him a full and speedy recovery.

CM Punk Praises ‘My MVP’ Liv Morgan After Shoulder Injury

0

Liv Morgan is out with an injury, one that is expected to keep the Women’s Tag Team Champion away from the ring for months. During the Cold as Balls panel with Kevin Hart at Fanatics Fest, CM Punk paused the comedy to shout out Morgan, highlighting her impact in WWE over the past year.

“Shout out to Liv Morgan, who recently I think got injured. She was on a tear. She was like my MVP for the year.”

Punk highlighted how Morgan arrived in WWE not long after he walked out in 2014. Though he hasn’t been around for the majority of her career, what he’s seen up close has amazed the Best in the World.

“Just from the time I’ve been around her and been able to see her work—just the way she’s developed this last year and just absolutely kind of like broken out of her shell and turned into this little worker—it kind of warms my heart.”

Punk chalked up Liv’s injury as “disappointing” but also “part of the process” of being a WWE Superstar. Hart praised Punk for his homage, calling the synergy among talent in wrestling “the dope thing about the sport.”

Liv Morgan’s injury has already caused major creative shifts in WWE’s women’s division, as a rumored showdown with Nikki Bella for Evolution 2 will not go ahead. We at SEScoops are continuing to wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Latest on WWE Night of Champions As U.S-Iran Tensions Escalate

0

WWE’s upcoming Night of Champions event in Saudi Arabia remains on the schedule despite heightened global tensions in the middle east. Following the United States’ bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran, Iran has since promised “everlasting consequences,” raising immediate concerns about WWE’s planned trip to Riyadh.

Fightful Select reached out to company representatives, but no formal comment was issued. Privately, however, one company executive stated the situation is “being monitored accordingly.” As it stands, WWE talent is expected to travel mid-week on a chartered flight.

Originally, the flight was set to include only the core group booked for Night of Champions, but plans have since expanded with WWE announcing a special three-hour episode of SmackDown from Riyadh that same week.

Currently in Saudi Arabia, production crews and event staff are continuing preparations. One source close to the setup said everything was “full steam ahead” as of Sunday afternoon. The same individual, speaking off the record, expressed confidence that the event would not be postponed or canceled, noting the significant financial implications would be hit hard. The 2026 Royal Rumble is scheduled for Saudi Arabia, and WWE does not wish to do anything to jeopardize that show.

Another added that WWE is expected to receive strong security assurances ahead of the event. The Night of Champions venue remains in active build mode, and local fan events tied to the show are expected in the coming days.

While WWE’s Saudi partnership remains one of its most lucrative, the company is clearly proceeding with caution. For now, the show is on—but that could change depending on how the global situation unfolds.

Dominik Mysterio Shares Throwback Moment with Trish Stratus

0

On WWE TV, Dominik Mysterio has made clear that he doesn’t like many people, and while Liv Morgan is among those he does like, Trish Stratus is another woman he holds in high regard. On X, the reigning Intercontinental Champion shared that he and Stratus had recreated a photo from his youth. In both photos, Stratus is holding Mysterio in her arms. Mysterio added that Stratus is the “best thing to ever come out of Canada.”

The side-by-side shots offer a heartfelt look at how far Mysterio has come in his WWE journey, and highlight Stratus’ longstanding support of the second-generation star. Not just known as the child of one of the greatest of all time, Dominik continues to establish his own name in wrestling away from his father.

Mysterio captured the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 41, the ‘Dirty’ Superstar’s first taste of singles gold with WWE. Time will tell how long he remains champion, but Trish Stratus is behind Mysterio all the way.

AEW’s Wardlow Eager To Play Bane In James Gunn’s DC Universe

0

AEW’s Wardlow is ready to make the leap to Hollywood—and he’s got his eyes set on taking over Gotham City. On X, Wardlow shared that he’s open to playing Bane in a future DC Comics project from James Gunn, but acknowledged that he’s not the only name interested in the role.

Dave Bautista has expressed interest in playing Bane, and has experience working with Gunn, the head of DC’s movie endeavors. Bautista portrayed Drax the Destroyer in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, and the two remain close friends to this day.

Neither Wardlow or Bautista would be the first wrestler to take on the role. The late Jeep Swenson—known to wrestling fans as The Ultimate Solution in WCW—portrayed Bane in 1997’s Batman & Robin. However, that version of the character was widely criticized by fans and critics alike.

Bane is one of Batman’s most iconic villains and was introduced in 1993 in shocking fashion. A master manipulator who boasts brains and braun, Bane was able to push Batman to his limit before breaking the back of the bat over his knee.

Whether Gunn plans to bring Bane into his reimagined DC universe remains to be seen. But with his in-ring presence and growing charisma, Wardlow seems eager to follow in the footsteps of Cena and Bautista as wrestling’s next big crossover star.

Brie Bella: I’d Love To Return But WWE Hasn’t Called

0

WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella could be on her way back to the ring, following on from her sister Nikki’s return to the promotion. Appearing at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Brie was asked about possibly getting back in the ring in the near future.

“Maybe. I would love to return. I’m still waiting for that call. Nikki got the call, but Brie didn’t. I did change my number if you wanted to know. So all I need is a phone call and that could happen.”

Bella did more at the Kids Choice Awards than just tease WWE involvement. The former WWE Divas Champion was joined by her daughter Birdie and represented her and Nikki’s podcast in the ‘Favorite Podcast’ award, though didn’t win.

Brie last competed as part of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble, a match won by Ronda Rousey. With Bella still having the wrestling ‘bug’ and Evolution 2 drawing near, a return to action may be coming very soon.

Jordynne Grace Calls Evolution 2 Her Last Shot at NXT Glory

0

In an update posted by WWE on June 21, Grace spoke candidly about her WWE NXT run so far. After coming up short in the past, the Juggernaut believes that a potential match for the title is her last chance.

“Honestly, I feel like I’ve had opportunity after opportunity to get the job done, and when I get my final opportunity—Evolution—it has to be the last one. It has to be it for me.

“Women’s wrestling has gone through an evolution, pro wrestling has gone through an evolution, and now I need to go through an evolution and finally become the NXT Women’s Champion.”

After defeating Lola Vice, Grace joined Lash Legend, Jaida Parker, and Izzi Dame in next week’s four-way bout. The winner will go on to challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Title at WWE Evolution on July 13.

Kota Ibushi Returns To AEW After Near-Two-Year-Hiatus

0

Kota Ibushi is officially back in AEW. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion made his surprise return on the June 21 episode of AEW Collision, rushing to the aid of Kenny Omega and Mark Briscoe during their battle with the Don Callis Family.

Ibushi arrived with a purpose and wasted no time in taking down Josh Alexander. He then squared off with Kazuchika Okada in a hard-hitting exchange that teased a major showdown between the two. While their interaction didn’t last long, it succeeded in exciting fans for what’s to come.

This marks Ibushi’s first AEW appearance since AEW Dynamite in November 2023, where he was on the winning end of a tag-team street fight. In April, Ibushi confirmed that his visa issues had been resolved, signaling that a return was imminent. Now he is back, and ready to provide Omega with some serious back-up.

Kenny Omega is set to face Okada at AEW All In in London to crown the first-ever AEW Unified Champion. With Ibushi now back in the picture, the stakes surrounding the match have reached a new level ahead of their showdown on July 13.

Dave Bautista in Talks for Amazon’s Road House Sequel

0

Dave Bautista has become a bonafide star in the world of acting and fans could soon see him in a much anticipated action sequel. Deadline reports that Bautista has received an offer to join the upcoming sequel to Road House, which will once again be directed by Guy Ritchie. While the offer is on the table, negotiations between Bautista and Amazon MGM Studios have not officially begun.

The sequel is being written by Will Beall and will see Jake Gyllenhaal return as Dalton, a former UFC fighter turned bouncer in the Florida Keys. The first film, which served as a reboot to the 80s classic, was a major hit for Prime Video, racking up over 50 million viewers in its first two weekends. In its first eight weeks, the film reached 80 million global viewers, making it the most-watched original film in Amazon’s history at the time.

While fans could soon expect Bautista in this film, one place they shouldn’t expect him is in the ring. The Animal ended his wrestling career in 2019 with a loss to his close friend Triple H at WrestleMania 35. Though Bautista has said he admits the rush of being a WWE Superstar, he will not compete again, acknowledging that his time has passed and he would only spoil his special farewell match.

While Bautista’s involvement isn’t confirmed, his addition would mark another high-profile casting move for the growing Road House franchise. Stay tuned for the latest on Bautista’s moves.
