Reason For Liv Morgan’s WWE Push Revealed (Report)

0

A new report has revealed the possible reason that Liv Morgan has finally received a push by WWE.

Many were surprised when WWE decided to give Liv Morgan a major push over the last few weeks. Earlier this month, Liv won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Later that night, she cashed in the briefcase on Ronda Rousey to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Liv Benefits From Sasha & Naomi?

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that “part of the reason, if not the key reason, for the recent push of Morgan was the walking out of Sasha Banks and Naomi.”

Meltzer noted that when they left WWE needed a top-tier babyface for the SmackDown women’s division. Now we see that Morgan was the one who got the pick of the draw, which has worked out because fans have always been strongly behind her.

As previously reported, Banks and Naomi are still under contract with WWE. However, Banks’ lawyer is reportedly working on her release. Banks has been making non-wrestling bookings and reportedly won’t make any wrestling-related bookings until next year. It was also reported that Sasha Banks has an asking price of $30,000 for non-wrestling appearances.

The Undertaker Approves of WWE’s Return to TV-14

0

There are reports that WWE Raw will be ditching the PG rating in favor of the TV-14 rating. According to The Undertaker, it’s a good move because it will allow talents to integrate more mature aspects into storylines instead of using a cuss word here and there to get a cheap pop.

The Dead Man was asked about this potential change during his most recent appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con. Taker said that it’s a good move, mentioning how the Attitude Era produced some of the best TV content in the history of wrestling:

“I think it’s a good move. With their main demographic being 18-34 year old males. Done the way that WWE will do it, it will mean much more than just a random, ‘Okay, we’re gonna use a cuss word because it’s gonna get a cheap pop.’

WWE is smart and hopefully, when they do. Maybe it’s a chance to touch that Attitude Era. right? because I mean, the Attitude Era was out of control but it was such great, great TV.” said The Undertaker, “And we’re finally starting to get a talent roster now that knows how to use those kinds of tools.”

The WWE legend also recalled the TV debut of Raw. He discussed how it changed the wrestling world forever by being a live show in the era of taped wrestling programs.

Jake Atlas Sends Out Statement Regarding Domestic Violence Case

0

Jake Atlas has issued a statement regarding the previous domestic charges against him.

On May 23, Atlas was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic assault), though the charges were later dropped.

The Police Report

According to the police report, Atlas, whose real name is Kenny Sanchez, was out drinking on May 22 and called his partner to come pick him up. Atlas wanted his partner to drink with him and then wanted his partner to go with him back to a female friend’s house to take part in sexual activities.

His partner said in the report, “he [the partner] showed the female half more attention than Atlas, which upset Atlas. This started a huge verbal argument between him and Atlas.”

Atlas reportedly became physically aggressive and charged his partner. A witness stepped in to prevent an attack. Atlas’ partner left, but Atlas followed, continued to yell, and again attempted to attack.

Atlas scratched the victim and tore his tank top before the witness separated them, putting Atlas in a car.

Atlas’ Statement

On July 22, Atlas took to social media to issue a statement on the incident. He said that he has completed an intensive outpatient program at LiveWell Behavioral Health in Florida.

Atlas said:

I want to thank those of you who will take the time to read this statement.

I'm issuing a formal apology for my wrongdoing and any hurt, disappointment and complications I may have caused to my colleagues and fans.

As incredibly difficult it is for me to publicly disclose very personal and private information, it is Imperative that admit to my alcohol abuse and provide transparency about my deteriorating mental health. I have accepted that my anxiety and depression led me to detrimentally self-medicate for the last 7 years. In addition, a lot of unresolved trauma resurfaced for me recently that was fundamental to the development of some extremely negative core beliefs and I was inadequately able to manage.

An incident occurred a couple or months ago that I am 100% not proud or; I take complete responsibility and accountability for the situation and my actions, I recognize that the state of being intoxicated does not excuse my behavior. I made a terrible mistake. I hurt people I love and it's something I deeply regret.

The only clarity I wish to provide specifically about what circulated online is this: the relationship is not abusive in any way, shape, or form and this events certainly not a reflection of my character. One can read a report and choose to take the information for what it is, but to speculate, draw conclusions, and create a narrative that has no merit only adds further damage to those involved. This was a situation that was already being, and continues to be dealt with privately, so it is with great humility that I ask the respect of that privacy going forward.

I would like to share that I have successfully completed an intensive outpatient program at LiveWell Behavioral Health in Florida. I self admitted with a dual diagnosis in substance abuse and mental health. The treatment consisted of 10 hours of group and individualized therapy every week for 5 weeks. The next step in the program is to attend 1 group session a week for 3 weeks and continue individual outpatient therapy thereafter. My time there has been nothing short of extraordinary and life changing - a phenomenal first step in my recovery.

I am human and that makes me flawed. I believe in second chances, I believe in redemption, and in turn. I believe in personal growth. express mv gratitude to those who have reached out to me. I have made exceptional progress and I am excited for my future. I have full faith for a positive outcome from this journey as I continue my sobriety and the process of healing with the support of my friends, my family, and my partner.

Matt Jackson Is Expected To Miss ‘A Few Weeks’ (Report)

0

According to a new report, one of AEW’s key superstars is currently out and dealing with a minor injury, but will return in “a few weeks.”

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Matt Jackson suffered a “stinger”on the July 13 episode of AEW Dynamite Fyter Fest week one. However, Meltzer says that Matt is doing better. During this match, Matt competed with his brother Nick in a triple threat tag team match against Team Taz (Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs) and Swerve in Our Glory (Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee) for their AEW Tag Team Championships.

Update On Matt Jackson

Meltzer says:

“Matt described it as like bad whiplash. He’s had no loss of strength, and his mobility and range of motion is already back to normal. He passed a strength test right after the injury.”

Matt is expected to be out of in-ring action for “a few weeks.” On Twitter, the Young Bucks current bio reads “R&R.”

Swerve in our Glory won this triple threat tag team match, and captured the AEW Tag Team Titles in the process.

‘Greatest Thing To Happen In Modern Era’: The Undertaker Talks WWE Change That Revolutionized Wrestling Business

0

Monday Night Raw revolutionized the wrestling business. Before the show came along, all wrestling programs used to be taped in advance with studio voiceovers. Raw changed this formula in favor of a live wrestling show every week with its debut back in January 1993. The Undertaker, who witnessed this change as part of the WWE roster, admits that it’s the greatest things to happen in the modern era of wrestling.

The Dead Man made a surprise appearance at the San Diego Comics Con. During the Q&A session, he was asked if he knew that Raw would become the Television phenomena it turned out to be. The former world champion replied to it negatively, saying that they were just excited to be going live at the time:

“No. We were actually just; we were excited that we were going to be live and all that but we had no idea that this was about to revolutionize the wrestling business. Because at that point, we would do three weeks of TV, three days in a row and then we would be out touring.” recalled The Undertkaer, “At that point all we worked [with] basically we worked with extras. That’s how we did business.

He continued, “Then Monday Night Raw comes along and we’re gonna be live every Monday night. That really did just change the scope of the wrestling business. [Before you] would have Undertaker vs. somebody else in an enhancement match. Now you had top guys going against top guys every Monday night because you have to had ratings. If you were to keep a live show. You had to put the best out that you could. [It was] probably one of the greatest things to happen in the modern era of wrestling is going on live [with] Monday Night Raw.”

Paul “Triple H” Levesque Is Back As EVP, Talent Relations

0

On July 22, WWE made a major announcement revealing that Triple H is back.

WWE sent out a press release announcing that Paul “Triple H” Levesque has returned to his executive position as EVP, Talent Relations.

WWE said:

STAMFORD, Conn., July 22, 2022 – WWE today announced that effective immediately, Paul Levesque will resume his executive position as EVP, Talent Relations.

“I look forward to returning to my prior position as head of Talent Relations. I’m healthy, fired up, and ready to take charge,” said Levesque.

Triple H’s Time Away

In the fall of 2021, Triple H left his duties as NXT producer to take care of his health issues. This included undergoing a successful procedure following a cardiac event.

During his time away, NXT rebranded to NXT 2.0 with more focus on newer talent and a brighter display. He did make on-screen appearances at NXT Stand & Deliver and night two of WrestleMania 38.

In March, Triple H announced his in-ring retirement and detailed his health scare from viral pneumonia.

AEW Star Undergoes Reconstructive Knee Surgery (Report)

0

According to a new report, one of AEW’s injured wrestlers is already on the way to recovering.

A few weeks ago, during the Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite, AEW star Santana suffered an injury. He injured his left knee during a spot with Daniel Garcia just minutes after he entered the match. It was a non-contact injury.

Update & Timetable

Dave Meltzer reported, in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that Santana had “reconstructive knee surgery and looks to be out about eight months.”

This confirms what Chris Jericho said on the True Gordie Podcast. Jericho said that Santana injured his knee doing a simple rock bottom and that he would be out for eight months.

It was previously reported that Santana attended a live event in Puerto Rico last weekend to relinquish a championship that he was holding. He was also seen walking on crutches at the indie wrestling event.

Konnan recently confirmed reports of there being a rift between Proud & Powerful or Santana & Ortiz. They had not worked a normal tag team match together in 2022. Before he was injured, Santana had been working as a singles star on the indie scene this year.

WWE SmackDown Star Out With Injury (Report)

0

According to a new report, one of WWE SmackDown’s key superstars is currently out and dealing with an injury.

During last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn was seen with his arm in a sling. It now seems that Zayn is dealing with a legitimate injury.

On this episode of SmacDown, Sami confronted Theory, Mr. Money in the Bank, on behalf of the Bloodline. During the segment, it was not clear if the injury was real or a storyline injury.

The Injury

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that the injury is “legit, but it’s not major, and they are hopeful of him being able to wrestle in a few weeks.”

Judging by Zayn’s activity, it seems that the injury happened on July 2nd in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the 2022 Money in the Bank event. Since Zayn hasn’t wrestled since then, it would appear that that match is when the injury happened.

Mick Foley Reveals WrestleMania Request for After he Dies

0

Mick Foley is a legend in the world of professional wrestling after decades of competing in various promotions.

A three-time former World Champion, Foley also held gold in WCW and ECW and is also a best-selling author.

After Life

Foley has achieved plenty throughout his wrestling career, and has plans for after his time on earth is over.

Speaking on his own podcast ‘Foley is Pod,’ the former World Champion spoke about his post-life plans and what he hopes WWE will allow.

“I believe I’m going to be cremated when the time comes. We’ll see if Vince would let [my family] drop the ashes in the ring before the main event of WrestleMania. Wouldn’t that be great?”

Mick Foley on what he plans for his remains after he dies.

WWE has to date, not had an ashes-scattering during a WrestleMania Premium Live Event.

Foley and WrestleMania

After joining the WWF in 1996, Foley would make his WrestleMania debut the following year, teaming with Vader to face the British Bulldog and Owen Hart.

In 1998, Foley, competing as Cactus Jack would team with Chainsaw Charlie (his mentor Terry Funk) to become WWF Tag Team Champions.

At WrestleMania 15, Foley would compete against the Big Show, with the winner becoming the guest referee in the main event between WWF Champion The Rock and Steve Austin.

For WrestleMania 2000, Foley would have his only main event, but failed to dethrone WWF Champion Triple H in the fatal four-way match also involving Rock and Big Show.

Mick would wait four years before competing at WrestleMania 20, where he and The Rock lost to Evolution, and his last Mania match would be a loss to Edge at WrestleMania 22 in 2006.

Ex-Ref on Working for WWE: “I’ve Never Earned as Little Money!”

0

The WWE is the unquestionable biggest wrestling promotion on the planet and has hosted some of the biggest, best-paid wrestlers of all time.

Hulk Hogan, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, John Cena, and Roman Reigns have all made their fortunes working for a man with a $2.3 billion net worth: Vince McMahon.

In recent years, the company has posted record profits, thanks in part to its lucrative broadcasting rights deals with FOX and the USA Network.

Getting Underpaid

WWE may have a ton of money, but not everyone associated with the promotion is well-off.

In an interview with Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps, former NXT UK referee Artemis discussed her career with WWE and her decision to leave (via Wrestling Inc.)

“The pay, the pay is a big issue. I’ve never earned as little money as I did in WWE. I never thought I’d say that because I thought that would be my full-time job, that was going to be it. It was great. I took a massive pay cut from being a teacher to being a referee which is weird considering you’re on TV every week in several countries.”

“I’ve never earned as little money as I did in WWE.”

Artemis.

Artemis also spoke about being offered a two-year new deal when her contract was coming to an end, but was told the pay would be the same.

“I said, ‘I can’t do it.’ I’ve got a mortgage and I’ve got to take care of my mom. I can’t stay on that little money. And it’s a shame, but I need to take care of my family. So they extended my contract for two months, hoping to be able to negotiate, and then they came back to me. I was supposed to do one last camp back in April. They called me just a few days before to say, ‘Okay, so you don’t want to accept that contract? We have nothing better for you, so there’s no need for you to come back next week.’”

Artemis finished with WWE in April 2022 and has announced that she will be taking bookings around the world.

Cody Rhodes Explains What Changed In WWE During His Time In AEW

0

A lot of things changed in WWE when Cody Rhodes was away rebuilding himself. According to the American Nightmare, the locker room was almost unrecognizable for him when he first came back.

The WWE star talked to James Williams on the ESPY red carpet. When asked about the changes in WWE he has noticed, Rhodes mentioned how the faces in the locker room have changed and how stars are treated differently:

“I think it’s changed so, so much. It’s unrecognizable to me as far as the return until I see someone like a Kofi or Xavier Woods, someone that I knew really well. One of the things that it’s changed, it’s such a healthy company in terms of [caring for talents]. I am two months out of surgery here. They won’t even give me a timeline because they’re afraid I’m gonna try and overtrain. Come back too soon.

The medical team, they’ve just been so wonderful to me. But yeah, with that change it also kind of highlights for you, you’re a grown up now. Even though I showed up at 20 years old in WWE, I’m not anymore. It’s time to be a grown up and having a daughter of my own makes it definitely is a different chapter in my career.”

‘I Am Always There: Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes who was once a rookie in the WWE locker room, is now a seasoned veteran. During the talk, he mentioned how his executive role in AEW didn’t suit him. However, now that people like The Undertaker and John Cena aren’t in the locker room anymore, Cody claimed that he is always there for anyone who needs his help:

“I’m always there for somebody, whether he ever asked me to or not. The first day I was there. I wanted to make sure Dominic Mysterio had my number. I’ve been there. It’s a hard, hard, hard walk ahead of you but [I’m] hoping he can absolutely make the best of it. So there are those young folks who didn’t get to wrestle Undertaker [and] John Cena, people like that. I was able to be in the ring with them. So all I can do is pass on what they knew and I can only do that when asked.”

Cody Rhodes Reveals Best Part Of His ESPY Win

0

Cody Rhodes won big at the ESPY Awards, bagging the trophy for the WWE Moment of the Year for his WrestleMania return. For the former AEW star, the best thing about his win was being nominated alongside people such as Stone Cold Steve Austin for his WrestleMania match and The Undertaker for his Hall of Fame speech among others.

The former TNT champion spoke to ComicBook.com at the San Diego Comic-Con. Speaking about his ESPY win, Cody explained why it means so much to him via a story. He recalled seeing posters of The Rock vs John Cena match, 2 years after it happened:

“It’s the best part of the ESPY. The best part of the ESPY was the fact that Steve was nominated, Undertaker was nominated and Cena was nominated and then I was nominated. That is by far the best part of the ESPY. Because in 2015, when I left in 2015.” recalled Cody Rhodes, “I remember even talking with WWE management about this. One of the crazy moments for me.

I was sitting outside the Scranton Wilkes-Barre hotel and the giant Mania bus that still was papered with Rock versus Cena. I remember just staring at it and wondering like how over are these guys and how long does this go. How do you get this? I remember just this defining [moment] ‘I don’t want to make excuses’ So last night to be in the same category with John and to be able to [get] that landslide win was pretty exciting.”

The Rock Says His Mom Has ‘SmackDown Room’ Dedicated To Him

0

In the world of pro-wrestling, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is known as ‘The People’s Champion’ for a reason, having millions upon millions of fans around the world.

The Rock’s fandom grew when he became a leading man in Hollywood, with several blockbuster films featuring the former WWE World Champion.

The Rock has plenty of fans, but there is one person in particular who stands out.

The Rock’s Number One Fan

As seen in NBC Universal’s ‘Young Rock’ Dwayne Johnson takes his family very seriously.

Appearing this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his new movie, ‘DC League of Super Pets,’ The Rock spoke about his mother Ata Johnson and the special room she has just for him (via Essentially Sports.)

“She has a SmackDown room… every guest wants to go to the SmackDown room but she insists I go with her. So there’s nothing more horrifying than just standing there. And she’s like ‘This is Dewey when you know and this movie’. It’s every poster, every award, any little and any kind of proclamation. Oh but that’s what our parents do.”

Ata and Dewey

Ata Johnson clearly cares a lot about her son and the feeling is mutual.

Last December the former WWE World Champion made headlines for gifting his mother a new car for the holidays.

Last month, The Rock continued his gift-giving ways, buying his mother and WWE Superstar Tamina Snuka a new house each.

Which of WWE’s Four Horsewomen Does Britt Baker Want to Face Most?

0

Bitt Baker joined AEW in 2019 and has been one of the promotion’s most successful wrestlers.

At Double or Nothing 2021, Baker won the AEW Women’s World Championship, and held the title until March 16, this year, when she lost to Thunder Rosa.

During her time with AEW, Baker has faced some of the promotion’s biggest names including Hikaru Shida, Ruby Soho and Kris Statlander.

Baker and the Four Horsewomen

Britt Baker has spent years working for AEW, which means she has missed out on facing the women competing as WWE Superstars.

Arguably the four biggest names in WWE women’s division are the ‘Four Horsewomen’ the name given to Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley.

Speaking on the “Not Just Football” podcast with Cam Heyward, the former AEW Women’s Champion discussed watching the quartet when training as a wrestler, and which Superstar she wants to face most (via eWrestlingNews.)

“When I first started training, I studied every single night the Four Horsewomen, who are Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch, and I always said any one of them would be a dream match for me. I always switched which one and why. Maybe right now I’ll say Bayley just because she had a really bad injury right now that she’s coming back from, and if it’s anything like me… I turned a new page, it was a new Britt Baker when I came back from my injury. I had a new energy, new everything. And if that’s what’s about to come out for her.”

“I’ll say Bayley just because she had a really bad injury right now that she’s coming back from.”

Britt Baker chooses Bayley as her dream opponent from WWE’s Four Horsewomen.

Bayley has been out with an injury since July 2021, having suffered a torn ACL during training ahead of the return of live fans.

“The Role Model” has been teasing a return in recent months.

Braun Strowman Involved In Car Accident

0

Former WWE Universal champion Adam Scherr better known as Braun Strowman was apparently involved in a car accident on Thursday.

The former WWE star shared a photo of his truck and boat that were damaged in the accident on Twitter. He noted that everyone involved walked away without any serious injuries:

“Always count your blessings.  Trucks and boats can be replaced.  Everyone walked away from this ok.   Thankful the lord was watching over us.” wrote Strowman

The Monster Among Men was part of the WWE roster from 2013 to 2021. He started out as a member of the Wyatt Family and later became a successful singles star.

Braun Strowman won the Universal championship among other titles during his time with the company. He was surprisingly released during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since leaving the company, the former Wyatt Family member has joined the Control Your Narrative promotion founded by EC3.

He has wrestled only a handful of matches since his departure from WWE. Though several CYN events are scheduled for later this month in the North Carolina area.

It’s a surprise that no other major promotion has signed the former world champion yet. Impact wrestling is the last known promotional to have talked to Braun but they couldn’t reach an agreement.

Watch: The Undertaker Makes Surprise Public Appearance

0

The WWE Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con was full of exciting moments but probably the biggest one was a surprise appearance from none other than The Undertaker.

The Dead Man wasn’t advertised for the show in advance. When his music hit, fans thought that it was to reveal his retro mid-90s action figure.

For the surprise of fans, however, Taker himself showed up in person. The wrestling legend received a huge standing ovation from the crowd upon his entrance:

Apart from the former world champion, the panel also featured a number of other WWE superstars, including Cody Rhodes, Zelina Vega, and Tommaso Ciampa.

Rhodes who has been out with a shoulder injury since the Hell In A Cell PPV provided an update on his health and recovery.

The American Nightmare said that he is unable to win an arm-wrestling contest at the moment, but he is healing slowly.

Cody reiterated that the doctors have not given him a timeline for his return. They fear that he will try to jump ahead of the expected timeframe.

WWE also announced several new action figures during the comic con. This included a WrestleMania 3 Andre The Giant figure and an early 90s Shawn Michaels figure, among others.

Reason Buddy Matthews Has Been Absent From AEW

0

Buddy Matthews hasn’t been seen on AEW programming in recent while. Turns out the reason behind his absence is not what fans speculated.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently responded to a question about the House of Black member. He revealed that the high-flying star is on a tour of his home country of Australia:

Buddy Matthews has not been featured on AEW programming since the June 27 edition of Dark: Elevation. He teamed up with Brody King to defeat Brubaker and CJ Esparza.

His last Televised match came during the June 8 Dynamite. The AEW star competed against Pac in an All-Atlantic Championship Qualifying match.

Matthews had revealed in an Instagram post last month that he has been dealing with a shoulder injury that limits his movements. Though the former WWE star was rehabbing. He claimed that he was slowly increasing the weight again.

He has wrestled several matches in Australia since his last AEW appearance. So it appears that his injury is not affecting him as much anymore.

Buddy Matthews joined AEW in February this year after being released by WWE in June 2021. He aligned himself with House of Black immediately but he hasn’t had any significant matches or been part of any immortant feud yet.

AEW Star Rules Out Joining Blackpool Combat Club for Now

Don’t expect this particular AEW star to join the Blackpool Combat Club until the stars perfectly align.

AEW certainly isn’t short on factions. The company has the likes of House of Black, Death Triangle, the Jericho Appreciation Society, The Elite, and of course Blackpool Combat Club.

Some fans have been calling for Lee Moriarty to join Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and William Regal in the BCC.

For Moriarty, he’s in no rush.

Lee Moriarity Explains Not Focusing on Joining BCC

The Blackpool Combat Club is a red hot group in AEW. Since joining the stable, Wheeler Yuta has seen his stock increase drastically.

Many feel such a move could do the same for Lee Moriarty. MuscleMan Malcolm asked Lee about the possibility of joining BCC and his answer may surprise you.

“The way I look at the AEW groups is, I’m going to do what’s best for my career. I understand everybody wants me to join the Blackpool Combat Club ever since Danielson said my name, and I get that my style of wrestling would fit well with them. But I like the idea of growing by fighting them.

You can’t get better if you are only teaming with these people, you can only get to a certain place if you’re not fighting the best, in my opinion, there’s only so far we can go.

Lee Moriarty on not joining BCC at the moment

“[Wheeler] Yuta is a great example. He fought those guys repeatedly. He fought Jon Moxley 3 times, I think, before joining the group, and you saw how he progressed before getting there. I’ve only had the chance to step into the ring with Danielson twice. Moxley, once. Yuta, once in AEW. There’s a lot more room for me to grow before joining them — but that’s not my priority. My priority is getting better on my own.”

Moriarty recently fell short in his bid for the ROH World Championship. He was defeated by current titleholder Jonathan Gresham on a Fyter Fest edition of AEW Rampage.

Adam Cole: “I’m Very Confident I’ll Be Back In The Ring Soon”

0

Adam Cole feels confident that he will be returning to the ring soon.

The Owen Hart Memorial tournament winner and leader of the Undisputed Elite was interviewed by the Wrestling Buddies podcast, where he discussed the injury he sustained at last month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view during the IWGP world heavyweight title matchup, a bout won by Jay White, who pinned Cole once he realized he was hurt.

Cole has been absent from AEW programming ever since, but he hopes it is not for too much longer. During the interview he recalls barely getting injured in his 14-year career, adding that taking this much time away is eating at him.

“I’m doing okay. I’m definitely on the path, on the track to recover for sure. I have a great team around me that is helping and just making sure that I’m taken care of to the best of my ability. AEW has been fantastic as far as making sure that I’m getting the right care that I deserve and I feel like a progress and I move forward every single week for sure, because I had been — I was pretty banged up.”

“So again, for 14 years, being in the pro wrestling industry, I think the most time I had ever had off, ever, as far as traveling, being on the road was one month. I’ve been going, going, going non-stop so, eventually our bodies kind of catch up to us and I had a couple of things that were kind of lingering for me and then with what happened at Forbidden Door but… so I feel good. I’m very confident I’ll be back in the ring soon, I’m excited to be back. I miss it so much already. But yeah, I’m feeling good, I’m feeling good.”

Cole would then talk about the moment he got hurt at Forbidden Door, calling it a very scary moment.

“Injuries like that can be a little bit scary, I think not just for me but kind of for everybody. But like I said, fortunately — the most important thing in a situation like that is having a good team of people who know what they’re doing and are concerned about your well-being being around you and that was definitely the case for me so, yeah, I’m getting the proper care that I need and I’ll be good to go in no time. It was definitely scary for me too.”

The former NXT champion may be out of action in AEW, but fans can catch him on his CHUGS Twitch channel.

Tony Khan Confirms Report on Colt Cabana’s Role in ROH

AEW President and ROH owner Tony Khan has confirmed where Colt Cabana will be working going forward.

There has been a lot of speculation over the past few weeks on the status of Colt Cabana. A report suggested that Khan was ready to drop the performer once his AEW deal was up but that wrestlers in the company rallied behind him to prevent that from happening.

Dax Harwood of FTR has since denied that report.

One report that is undoubtedly true, however, is Fightful noting that Cabana will be taking his talents to ROH going forward.

TK on Colt Cabana’s Role in ROH

During a media call for the July 23 ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV, Tony Khan revealed that Colt Cabana does indeed have a role under the ROH banner.

“TK confirms Fightful’s report that Colt Cabana is a part of ROH (plans to have him involved in the DBD show) Colt was a big part of the SCOH show … declined to comment on the CM Punk/Colt stuff or dynamics.”

Jaychele Nicole’s recap of TK’s comments on Colt Cabana

Rumors swirled that CM Punk had something to do with TK almost deciding to pull the plug on working with Colt Cabana. This is what caused Dax to speak out and deny such claims.

Dax and Punk have become good friends and have been angling to create a faction along with the other half of FTR Cash Wheeler.

Cabana and Punk were once best friends before a legal battle ruined their relationship.

Cabana believes Punk owed him money over a legal issue with WWE doctor Chris Amann. While Punk and Cabana won that case, their own legal dispute over money caused them to sever ties.

Steve Austin On Ric Flair’s Last Match: ‘It’s Gonna Turn Out Great, I Can’t Wait To Watch It’

0

Steve Austin has weighed in on Ric Flair working his last match over SummerSlam weekend at the ‘Ric Flair’s Last Match’ event at Starrcast.

The WWE Hall Of Famer is set to team with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in the show’s main event.

Austin, who came out of his retirement and worked his first match in 19 years against Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night One, noted in an interview with SportsKeeda’s Bill Apter that he’s looking forward to the match.

“Well, it’s gonna be his final match, so I guess he’s in the mood to have one more go and to prove he was the man,” Austin explained. “I’ve said before, I think he was the greatest traveling world champion that there ever was. There’s a reason he had the belt as many times as he did, because he was that damn good. He lived the lifestyle on the road to the nth degree, let’s say.

“For him to have his final match, I wish him nothing but the best. I hold him in the highest regard and have the highest respect for him,” he continued. “I’m behind everything he does in the ring. So, I look forward to seeing it. I wish I could be there in person. Again, I’m not traveling anywhere right now, but I wish him all the best and I know it’s gonna turn out great and I can’t wait to watch it.”

AEW Star Reveals Injury He Had Going In To Critically Acclaimed Match

0

Ahead of this weekend’s ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) spoke with WebIsJericho to hype up their highly-anticipated rematch with the Briscoes for the ROH tag team titles.

The two teams went to war at Supercard of Honor back in April, a matchup that was called one of the very best of the year and saw the Top Guys dethrone Dem Boys to become the promotion’s newest champs.

During the interview Dax Harwood reveals that he actually went into the critically-acclaimed bout with a torn labrum, an injury that happened from taking a suplex to the floor. Harwood doesn’t specify exactly when he got hurt, but details how much pain he is still in because of the tear.

“I got that [a torn labrum] right before the match with The Briscoes. I took a suplex on the floor, and it’s still very uncomfortable just to sit down. To walk or to run it doesn’t bother me, but to sit down, it just kills me. Every match you have, I don’t care how old you are or how young you are, every match is gonna take a toll on your body.”

Harwood would then give a quick rant about how hard the industry can be on a wrestler’s body, and why fans should be aware how much it actually hurts them.

“I gotta go home to my daughter, and that one tackle, that one bump hurt so bad that I can’t play with her.’ So why are we telling these fans this doesn’t hurt? ‘Watch. The ring is springy, it’s like a trampoline.’ It’s the complete opposite. Everything hurts.”

FTR currently hold the AAA, ROH, and the IWGP tag team titles, the latter of which was won at last month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view from the United Center in Chicago.

All Elite Wrestling President and ROH Owner Tony Khan has revealed that The Briscoes have signed an exclusive ROH deal.

ROH will have its second event, Death Before Dishonor, under Khan’s leadership this Saturday. One of the matches that fans are looking forward to is The Briscoes vs. FTR in their rematch for the ROH Tag Team Championship.

Fans of The Briscoes have wanted to see AEW sign the tag team to a deal. Fightful reported that WarnerMedia didn’t wish to AEW to sign The Briscoes due to homophobic tweets that Jay Briscoe made in 2013. It is also worth noting that Jay apologized for his comments in the past.

While it seemed unlikely that Khan would sign The Briscoes to AEW, Jaychele Nicole reports that he announced on an ROH Conference call today that the team has signed an exclusive long-term deal to return to ROH.

Will The Briscoes Signing A Deal With ROH hurt Negotiations with WarnerMedia?

During the call, Khan shared that he’s still negotiating with WarnerMedia to get ROH on Bleacher Report and to do more work with the promotion. Nicole reported that Khan wants to “Parlay BR/ROH partnership into weekly TV through Warner Bros.”

It’s unclear how far talks with WarnerMedia have gone with signing ROH to a TV deal or whether they are interested. However, according to Khan, the company is excited about ROH.

While the ROH Owner shared that The Briscoes signed a deal with ROH, he didn’t say if WarnerMedia had any say in acquiring the tag team. Based on Sapp’s report, it remains to be seen if the company is okay with the signing or if they have changed their opinions on The Briscoes.

As of now, Khan is still working towards a TV deal for his newly acquired promotion. Although fans could view ROH Death Before Dishonor being streamed on Bleacher Report as progress.

Liv Morgan Reveals Which Wrestler She First Resonated With

0

Current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Liv Morgan has revealed the first wrestler that she ever resonated with as a young fan.

Morgan was a guest on SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee’s podcast, “The Pat McAfee Show,” to talk about her current title reign.

During the interview, Morgan was asked about the first wrestler she ever resonated with as a fan. She named WWE Hall Of Famer Lita as that star, explaining why.

“She was the first female wrestler that I feel like I resonated with. She wrestled the boys, she wore baggy pants, and I grew up with four older brothers that I wrestled with in my backyard. I considered myself such a tomboy.

“So here’s this woman that’s working the boys and wearing baggy pants and sneakers. I saw her and thought, maybe she could be my friend. That’s something that I helped to give my fans.”

Lita is one of the most accomplished women WWE and professional wrestling has ever seen. While breaking down barriers and helping launch the Women’s Revolution, she also earned four WWE Women’s Title wins in the process.

In 2014, Lita was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame for her legendary career, which continued as she returned to the ring as recently as Elimination Chamber in February of this year, where she challenged Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Title. However, Lita came up just short.

Liv Morgan, on the other hand, is in the midst of her first-ever title reign in WWE. She won the Money In The Bank briefcase earlier this month, cashing it in the very same night on Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Title.

The pair will rematch with the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line at SummerSlam on July 30 from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Seth Rollins Doesn’t Expect Shield Reunion Until WWE HOF Induction

0

Seth Rollins doesn’t expect The Shield to reunite with one another until they’re eventually inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Rollins was recently interviewed by Stephanie Chase with Digital Spy, where he was asked about a potential reunion between the trio. “The Architect” admits that he doesn’t expect a true Shield reunion could ever take place again given the star power of the three as individuals.

“It wouldn’t look the way you want it to look. It wouldn’t be like the old days in The Shield, it would be a different animal. I think we’re all just too big stars with too big personalities at this point.

“We needed each other back then and now none of us need the other one. We’re at a point where we’re all standalone stars on a different level. So to have to kind of minimize that to fit into each other’s molds, I just don’t see it ever happening again. I think it would look a whole lot different than the next time you see us together.

“The next time you see us together it’s going to be when we’re inducted into the Hall of Fame. That’s going to be it.”

When the three do finally reunite together on WWE TV, Rollins expects it will be when they’re inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Currently, both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns remain as top stars in WWE. Reigns holds the WWE Undisputed Championship over on SmackDown Live. As for Rollins, he’s one of Monday Night RAW’s top stars.

Dean Ambrose, now going by the name Jon Moxley, reigns as the World Champion over at All Elite Wrestling (AEW). If and when the three do finally get together again on professional wrestling programming, it will likely be a very long time from now.
