Young Bucks Reveal Creative Changed Several Times Before They Lost AEW Tag Titles

0

The Young Bucks recently opened up about the creative changes that shaped their third reign as AEW Tag Team Champions, culminating in their loss to Private Party. The title change occurred on the October 4th episode of Dynamite after the Bucks had successfully retained the titles against Private Party at Wrestle Dynasty.

Speaking on the Tunnel Talk podcast, Nick Jackson revealed that their creative plans shifted multiple times during their reign, including changes to which team they would eventually drop the belts to:

“This last run we just had, we were supposed to drop those titles months and months before we actually dropped them, but creative changed I would say 4-5 different times in the last like six months,” Nick said. “At one point, we were going to lose the belts to a certain team. And then a month later, it changed to another team.”

Nick also recalled a pivotal moment when Private Party expressed interest in a long-term program with the Bucks:

“I remember Private Party came up to us actually and they mentioned about wanting to do like a long-term program with us. And we were like, ‘Well, sorry man, Tony [Khan] just gave us the layout of what we’re doing, and that’s not in the cards.’”

However, everything changed after the Bucks faced Private Party at WrestleDream:

“And something changed, and we ended up wrestling them in a match [at WrestleDream]… but we tore the house down. As soon as we got backstage, we knew, ‘Oh alright.’ It’s in Tony’s eyes. He was like, ‘I think we have something, I think we have something.’ And Matt and I thought the same exact thing. We were like, ‘We’ve got to pivot. We’ve got to change our plans again.’”

The Young Bucks ultimately dropped the titles to Private Party and were satisfied with the outcome:

“We were happy though because we wanted to put those guys over. They deserved the spotlight. It’s been five years now, so they were ready for a big push. And I’m just glad Matt and I got to give them that last shove before we left.”

Fightful Select reports The Outrunners were actually considered for the spot to win the titles from The Bucks. Following their title loss, the Young Bucks have been absent from AEW television but are set to return to in-ring action at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, where they will challenge for the vacant IWGP Tag Team titles.

Upon their AEW return, they are expected to feud with Jon Moxley’s Death Riders faction, setting the stage for an intense rivalry.

WWE Raw Bids Farewell To TV After Iconic 32-Year Run

0

For over three decades, WWE Raw has been a Monday night tradition for wrestling fans worldwide. Since its debut on January 11, 1993, the red bran has revolutionized sports entertainment with its ever-changing narratives and in-ring action.

After 32 years and 1,649 episodes, Raw is stepping away from traditional television with its move to Netflix in a groundbreaking $5 billion deal. While it’s the end of an era for WWE on TV, the future looks brighter than ever for the red brand.

A Historic Run in Television

WWE Raw has been more than just a wrestling show but for many fans, proved to be their introduction into the world of wrestling. Starting as a one-hour show from the Manhattan Center in New York City, Raw became the flagship program of WWE, captivating audiences with unforgettable matches, moments, storylines and characters.

Over the years, Raw’s evolution mirrored that of WWE itself, as the red brand’s growth was spawned by the promotion’s aggressive expansion.

In 1997, Raw moved to two hours during the heights of WWE’s war against WCW and Monday Nitro. Though it wouldn’t be until 1998 that Raw broke Nitro’s 83-week streak in the ratings, the extra hour would allow fans to grow accustomed to a much wider cast of characters.

In 2012, Monday Night Raw added its third hour, a format that had been saved only for special episodes in the past. The extra hour of programming gave broadcast networks more time to sell ads, a testament to the mainstream appeal of WWE at the time.

Recently Raw returned to two hours, setting the stage for its Netflix debut. With the red brand set to return to three hours with its debut on Netflix on January 6, fans can look forward to plenty more exciting matches and moments on the streaming juggernaut.

Monday Night Raw holds the record as the longest-running weekly episodic show in history, a testament to its ability to adapt and thrive across generations. Many who watched the show growing up now have children of their own to watch with, such is the long-standing nature of the WWE flagship show.

Then vs. Now: WWE in 1993 vs. 2025

In January 1993, WWE’s decision to launch Raw was arguably the riskiest business move since the inception of WrestleMania. Despite a stacked roster with names like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker, the company had been rocked by the steroid scandal, and a downturn in profits was looming around the corner. These matters threatened the future of WWE (WWF at the time) making the decision to host a weekly hour-long live show a risky endeavor.

Fast forward to January 2025, and WWE’s gamble clearly paid off for the global entertainment juggernaut. Stars like Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, and Cody Rhodes represent a modernized, athletic roster, bolstering a roster of various shapes and sizes. With its merger into TKO Group Holdings, WWE is part of a $20 billion conglomerate alongside UFC, showcasing its immense growth and mainstream appeal.

WWE Raw Preview (12/30): Final TV Episode Before Move to Netflix

Technology in 1993 was similarly a world away from what WWE viewers have at their disposal today. Raw’s debut came at a time when most people watched on bulky TVs with cable boxes, and VCRs were the height of recording technology. The internet was a novelty, and wrestling news traveled through newsletters and magazines, with most fans having little to no idea as to what was going on behind the scenes.

In 2025, we’re living in a streaming-dominated world, with fans able to watch WWE not just on TV but through apps, YouTube, and social media. Live tweeting during matches has become a modern fan experience, with WWE encouraging fans to share their voices about the show. With WWE embracing technology over the decades, some good, some bad (see Tout,, it’s no wonder Raw’s move to Netflix feels like a natural progression for the brand.

The End of an Era And Looking Ahead

WWE Raw Netflix Logo

It’s somewhat bittersweet to say goodbye to Raw as a television staple, though fans hardly need to cry for WWE, or their pockets. The move to Netflix not only secures a record-breaking $5 billion deal but also positions WWE to thrive in an era where streaming reigns supreme.

Netflix’s global reach promises to introduce Raw to a new generation of fans, ensuring its legacy continues to grow. Already, WWE has plans to break ground with Raw in 2025, with the red brand coming to Belgium and Scotland for the first time ever. In short, WWE Raw’s legacy is not going to end with its final episode on TV, but this is just the beginning of a bold new chapter.

For 32 years, WWE Raw has been a constant in the ever-changing landscape of television and pop culture. From the opening match between Yokozuna and Koko B. Ware to modern-day favorites like Jey Uso and Rhea Ripley, Raw’s lasting legacy is its continued evolution. As it moves from traditional TV to Netflix, we celebrate its incredible history and look forward to what’s next for the red brand. WWE Raw may be leaving the airwaves, but its impact on wrestling and entertainment will live on forever.

FTR Discusses Importance of Dynamite: Fight For The Fallen Coming To Asheville

    0

FTR has explained the importance of AEW coming to Asheville for the first show of 2025.

Dax Harwood had previously discussed the significance of AEW coming to Asheville for their Max premiere episode on January 1. He had revealed that it was the first entertainment show coming to the city following the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene and that they’ll be donating a portion of the show’s revenue to relief efforts.

The duo of Dax and Cash were asked about the show coming to their locality during the post Worlds End media scrum. Harwood first revealed that they had initially reached out to Tony Khan with the idea of doing a live event but the AEW President decided to bring one of their biggest TV shows there instead:

“The initial plan was not to be in Asheville, right? But we, us three, met at our wrestling school, and we said, ‘Okay, what can we do to bring some hope and some joy to Asheville?’ And we had the idea of maybe doing like a live event in Asheville. Talking to Tony, and having some of the guys come out and just raising money. And Tony said, ‘I’ll do you one better. Why don’t we do Dynamite in Asheville?'”

After Adam Copeland made his surprise return to close the latest AEW PPV, the company has confirmed that the trio known as Rated-FTR will be facing the Death Riders in a six men tag match at the upcoming Dynamite episode. Cash Wheeler mentioned that there was a time he thought he’d never get to share the ring with Copeland at all, but now they’ll be teaming at such a big night in their hometown:

“I never could have imagined that if it was going to happen, that the first time we ever as a trio stepped in the ring together for a match was going to be in Asheville, That’s how I would have booked it as a 15-year-old kid. And it never would have happened. But it is happening, and it’s for the best possible reason.

It’s so we can raise money for people that lost everything. It’s to raise awareness of people that are still going through this three months later. A lot of the world’s moved on and kind of forgotten about that. And you can’t when you drive through it, and you see the destruction every day, and you see the debris. You see the tents, like it’s communities of tents camping out by a river where homes used to be because hundreds of homes were washed away.

And it’s winter, it’s the coldest time of year, and these people are living in tents. It’s heartbreaking. So to have a boss who wants to bring awareness to that, and bring his biggest show ever to that, the first one ever, simulcast on max, and the first one of the new TV rights deal. It’s going to be in Asheville and it’s going to be Rated-FTR. That’s amazing to me. That’s the kind of stuff that I do this for.”

Dax Harwood Defends Adam Copeland Over Criticism Of Steel Cage Injury

    0

Dax Harwood is pleased to be once again working with Adam Copeland, who he believes is the prototype for every aspiring wrestler. At AEW Worlds End, Copeland made a dramatic return, joining FTR to fend off the Death Riders during the event’s climactic moments. This marked Copeland’s first appearance since May, when a fractured tibia sidelined the two-time former TNT Champion.

On the post-show media scrum, Harwood praised his mentor and close personal friend.

“This man is one of the greatest of all time and his career is what everybody strives to have when they start in professional wrestling.”

Harwood also addressed the criticism Copeland faced following his injury at Double or Nothing, where a high-risk dive from a steel cage led to him being out of action for months.

“People like to criticize what we do and they ask him, they question him. This is Adam f****** Copeland. If he wants to jump off a cage, let him jump off a cage. If he breaks his leg, he breaks his leg.”

Copeland has already set his sights on the AEW World Championship and other gold now that he’s back and aligned with Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on the Rated-R Superstar following his exciting return at AEW World End.

Tony Khan Comments On WWE Running Event In Orlando The Same Night As Worlds End 2024

    0

Tony Khan says that WWE running a Live Event in the same city as Worlds End shows how strong the market is.

All Elite Wrestling presented the Worlds End PPV from Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida tonight with over 6,700 tickets sold per WrestleTix. WWE on the other hand ran the Kia Center in Orlando as part of their Holiday Tour, selling over 8,100 tickets for the live event.

The AEW President was asked about this competition by Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel during the post-Worlds End media scrum. Khan claimed that having two big shows in one night is great for the city:

“It’s great for the city of Orlando with two major pro wrestling events happening on the same night. There were thousands and thousands of fans at both shows. We had a capacity crowd here. It was so great being here at UCF.”

It Was A Great Show: Tony Khan

Tony Khan mentioned that Addition Financial Arena has been a great host for AEW and claimed that having two successful pro wrestling events on the same night shows how strong the wrestling market is:

“It shows how strong worldwide pro wrestling, particularly here in the United States, is to have in one major American city with two promotions running head-to-head on the same night, to have two great crowds. I know our fans here were awesome, and it was a great show tonight, thanks to the Orlando fans. They were tremendous,”

Tonight’s Worlds End PPV saw a couple of big returns including the long-awaited comeback of Kenny Omega and the surprise return of a former WWE star. You can check out more about it here.

LA Knight Safe After Minor Car Accident Before WWE Baltimore Live Event

    0

LA Knight has revealed that he was involved in a minor car accident before tonight’s WWE Holiday Tour house show from Baltimore, Maryland.

The former WWE US Champion faced Santos Escobar at the live event. Before the bout, Knight took the mic and told a short story.

The SmackDown star revealed that he was involved in a ‘fender bender’ before the show but he still made it to the CFG Bank Arena because he had to ‘stomp down’ a dummy:

The Baltimore live event also featured names such as Liv Morgan, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and more. CM Punk teamed up with Rey Mysterio at the show to defeat The New Day.

The duo of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston declared during their entrance that they were sick of the New Day theme song and it appears they’ll be getting new entrance music in the coming times.

LA Knight dropped the US Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at the most recent WWE Survivor Series PPV event on November 30. This ended his 119-days-long reign with the title. The former TNA star has since started feuding with the New Bloodline.

He’s faced Solo Sikoa in a singles match and Knight also recently teamed up with Andrade and Apollo Crews for a six men tag against the faction.

Adam Copeland Targets AEW World Title After Worlds End Return

    0

Adam Copeland has officially returned to AEW programming and has his sights on championship gold. During AEW Worlds End, Copeland made a dramatic comeback in the closing moments, teaming with FTR to fend off the Death Riders. This marks his first appearance since May, when he suffered a tibia fracture at Double or Nothing.

At the post-Worlds End media scrum, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed his ambitions now that he’s back in action.

“If you can think of a goal, that’s what we’re going after. I think they [FTR] should be tag team champions. I think we should win the Trios Championship. I’m going after the World Heavyweight Championship.”

Copeland, who debuted in AEW last year at WrestleDream, shared that his initial focus was on understanding the “lay of the land.” With that phase behind him, the 11-time WWE World Champion is determined to make a lasting impact and “show everybody exactly who I am.”

“My plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that you’ve never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field.”

Moxley is currently in his record-setting fourth reign as AEW World Champion, having captured the title from Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Adam Copeland and his pursuit of AEW Championship gold.

Recently Departed WWE Star Backstage At Worlds End

    0

A couple of interesting non-AEW names were backstage at tonight’s Worlds End PPV from Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.

The area is home to many notable pro wrestlers and one of them, former WWE star Baron Corbin was spotted at the show. Corbin’s 12-year-long WWE run came to an abrupt end earlier last month after the company surprisingly chose not to renew his contract.

Real name Tom Pestock, the wrestling veteran has stayed active outside of the sports entertainment world since then. He most recently won a gold medal at an international Jiu-Jitsu tournament.

Baron Corbin Wins Gold Medal At International Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

    Another Former WWE Star Backstage

Another interesting name who was said to be around is AJ Francis, also known as Top Dolla. Like many other TNA talents, his deal is also set to expire on January 1.

Dolla was seen talking to names such as Tony Khan and Jeff Jarrett before the show. He was also seen with his former Hit Row teammate Swerve Strickland at the event.

It’s unknown if either of these names were backstage on a business expedition or just visiting friends. Their impending free agency definitely marks an interesting coincidence in either case.

Kenny Omega Returns at AEW Worlds End 2024

    0

Kenny Omega has officially returned at AEW World’s End 2024, marking a momentous comeback after an extended hiatus due to health challenges. Wrestling fans worldwide have eagerly anticipated this event, and Omega delivered in spectacular fashion.

After a prolonged battle with diverticulitis that sidelined him for most of 2024, Omega made his surprise return tonight at AEW World’s End. The crowd erupted as his iconic music played, signaling the dramatic conclusion to the Continental Classic tournament final between Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay.

During Christopher Daniels’ announcement that he could no longer hand over Okada’s title due to stepping down as an AEW EVP, Omega’s music interrupted, igniting the crowd. The former AEW World Champion emerged dressed in an impeccably tailored suit and locked eyes with Okada, creating an electrifying moment in the arena.

This confrontation sets the stage for a potential revival of the Omega-Okada rivalry in AEW heading into 2025, a storyline fans have been longing to see unfold.

    The Impact of Omega’s Comeback

Kenny Omega’s return is not just a pivotal moment for him personally but also a major boost for AEW as a whole. His presence at World’s End reinvigorates the promotion, which has keenly felt his absence throughout 2024.

As one of AEW’s marquee stars and a former World Champion, Omega’s involvement in high-profile storylines is essential to sustaining fan interest and driving the excitement surrounding AEW’s future.

With his dramatic return at AEW World’s End, Omega is set to reclaim his position at the pinnacle of All Elite Wrestling. Fans can expect him to play a central role in upcoming narratives, including his highly anticipated match against Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty in January.

Braun Strowman shared a special moment with the sons of Brodie Lee and Bray Wyatt after this week’s episode of SmackDown went off air.

December 26 was the 4th anniversary of the former Luke Haprer’s untimely passing. WWE had invited Amanda Huber & their kids as well as Jojo Offerman & her son to the latest WWE TV event.

Throughout the night many WWE stars greeted both the families during their segments. This included Natalya and Cody Rhodes who gave a shoutout to Brodie Jr. as his friend during his promo at the end of SmackDown.

Strowman and Jey Uso came out after the show to save Sami Zayn from a beatdown from the New Bloodline. After taking out Solo and his cousins, the Monster Among Men invited both Brodie and Bray’s kids into the ring for a heart-touching moment:

Before this, the main event segment of SmackDown saw The American Nightmare confronting his former friend Kevin Owens after the latter brutally attacked him at the end of Saturday Night’s Main Event and stole the Winged Eagle title belt.

Kevin was demanding a rematch for the Undisputed title where a referee couldn’t screw him over. After an exchange of words, Rhodes proposed a ladder match which Nick Aldis made official for Royal Rumble.

Major Update on Shane McMahon AEW Worlds End Rumor

    0

As AEW Worlds End 2024 continues, speculation has been rampant about the potential debut of Shane McMahon in All Elite Wrestling. However, a recent report from Fightful on Patreon has shed new light on the situation, indicating that Shane McMahon is not backstage at the event tonight.

    Shane McMahon’s AEW Connections

Rumors of Shane McMahon’s involvement with AEW have been circulating for months, fueled by a viral photo of McMahon meeting with AEW owner Tony Khan. This encounter sparked widespread discussion about the possibility of the former WWE executive making a shocking appearance in the rival promotion.

Adding to the intrigue, McMahon has been spotted with other AEW personalities, including the Young Bucks and Mercedes Mone, although these encounters were reportedly chance meetings at airports. Despite these connections, concrete evidence of McMahon’s imminent debut has remained elusive.

    AEW Worlds End Speculation

Many fans and industry insiders had speculated that AEW Worlds End would be the perfect stage for Shane McMahon’s debut. The event, marking the final show of 2024, seemed like an opportune moment for such a high-profile addition to the roster.

Some predictions even suggested that McMahon could appear during the AEW World Championship match, potentially aligning himself with Jon Moxley in a shocking twist. However, the latest report casts doubt on these scenarios.

Faction Reunites at AEW Worlds End 2024

    0

A top AEW faction has reformed at the Worlds End PPV event tonight from Orlando, Florida. Following the match between MJF and Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and The Kingdom all joined Cole in the ring.

O’Reilly has had issues with Cole for the past few months, with the two former Undisputed Era stablemates being at odds with how to deal with Maxwell and his attack on Roderick Strong. Well, it now appears as if they’ve put that behind them and will be aligned going forward, with O’Reilly even doing his trademark air guitar from his NXT days.

Undisputed Kingdom Reunite at Worlds End

All five men were in the ring together, but it remains to be seen whether or not The Kingdom will stay with the ‘OG’ group or even if Bobby Fish makes an unlikely return.

What we also do not know is if this is finally the blow off to the Cole and MJF feud. At one point this feud was white hot, but injuries and inconsistent booking meant it lost a ton of lustre and has seemingly now whimpered out.

AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May successfully retained her title at the Worlds End 2024 PPV event tonight after hitting a piledriver through a table to Thunder Rosa.

It was a brawl between May and Rosa in the Tijuana Street Fight, but the Storm Zero Piledriver through a table on the outside managed to get the job done for May, who goes into 2025 at the top of the pile when it comes to the Women’s division.

Mariah May hits Toni Storm’s Finisher at Worlds End

May and Toni Storm were feuding up to All In earlier this year before Storm disappeared and only recently showed her face again on AEW programming.

The short Piledriver from May to Rosa through the table was quite clearly a modified version of Storm’s finisher, so it looks like they’re going to continue teasing this storyline in the coming months before the expected rematch at All In Texas in 2025.

“First Time Ever” Dream Match set for AEW Collision MAX/TNT Simulcast

    0

A “first-time-ever” Dream Match has been set up for the first AEW Collision on MAX/TNT simulcast on January 4th. Although…it’s worth noting that the quotation marks are doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Toni Storm made her “AEW PPV debut” at Worlds End by defeating Leila Grey in the opening match of the Zero Hour pre-show. Later in the pre-show, Storm was being interviewed backstage by Lexy Nair when Deonna Purrazzo appeared and challenged Toni to a match on Collision.

AEW Collision Toni Storm vs Deonna Purrazzo

Purrazzo was playing along with the idea that Toni is a “rookie” and that this would be a first-time-ever match. Obviously that isn’t the case, but it looks like the Storm storyline will be continuing for at least another week as she navigates her way through the All Elite Women’s roster before getting her inevitable rematch with Mariah May.
