NXT’s Cora Jade Sets Sights on TNA Knockouts Championship

0

At TNA Genesis 2025, Cora Jade confronted Masha Slamovich following Slamovich’s Clockwork Orange match victory over Rosemary. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jade shared what she told the reigning TNA Knockouts World Champion.

“I said that title is gonna be mine. That TNA Knockouts Title is coming to me.”

Jade is aware of the skepticism from fans who doubt her chances against Slamovich, widely regarded as one of the toughest women in wrestling today. While Jade’s matches in WWE may not have been as brutal as what Slamovich displayed at Genesis, she’s no slouch to getting violent in the ring.

“I think people forget that before I got here [WWE NXT] I was doing hardcore matches. I had a deathmatch right before I got signed.”

Jade is hardly the only name wanting to cross the line in the WWE-TNA partnership. Fresh off his World Championship victory at Genesis, Joe Hendry has challenged John Cena to a showdown in the ring and on the mic. WWE’s Sheamus would love the chance to step in the ring with TNA’s Nic Nemeth in a revival of their feuds as part of WWE.

Sheamus: TNA Deal Gives A Second Chance to WWE Alum

The multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA has sparked excitement among fans and promises plenty of thrilling moments. While an official match between Jade and Slamovich has yet to be announced, it seems likely that they will meet in the ring again soon.

Elias Believes He Can Do ‘So Much More’ In WWE

0

Former WWE star Elias says he’d love to return to WWE.

The wrestling veteran was signed by the company in 2014. While he didn’t have much success in his developmental run, the Drifter’s mic skills made him an instant hit on the main roster.

His run with the promotion came to an end in September 2023 but many believe that the officials could have done a lot more with the 37-year-old.

The indie wrestling star who now goes by the name Elijah talked about a potential return to the company during a recent K & S WrestleFest virtual signing.

Elias first claimed that his run in WWE was awesome and he got to do a lot of great stuff. While he had many memorable moments in the company, he would love to be part of the promotion again:

“Elias can and could and should do so much more in WWE. They only scratched the surface with my capabilities. I had a lot of great moments, some incredible guys to go up against,”

Right before his release, the former WWE star was involved in a storyline with Kevin Owens. He played the part of his own brother Ezekiel while Owens refused to believe that the two were different people.

After KO won this feud, the storyline was dropped from TV. Elias renewing his rivalry with Owens who recently turned heel again would be the perfect way to reintroduce him on WWE programming.

Sheamus on TNA Deal: A Second Chance for Former WWE Talent

0

WWE’s recently-announced partnership with TNA has excited fans with many fans excited to see who ‘crosses the line’ and appears for the other promotion. On the Masked Man Show, Sheamus was asked about the partnership and who he wants to face from the TNA roster.

“I loved working Ziggy (Nic Nemeth). Ziggy was great. I don’t think he he’s the fondest memories of working me, taking all those Brogue Kicks.”

Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, parted ways with WWE in September 2023 after nearly two decades with the company. Many fans believe he wasn’t fully utilized, particularly in the later years of his WWE tenure. However, Sheamus sees the WWE-TNA partnership as a new opportunity for Nemeth and others.

“I think there’s a lot of opportunities now for some of that talent to come back over and create different stories. It’d be fun, it’d be a good time.”

Sheamus isn’t the only one watching the WWE-TNA collaboration closely. Fresh off his World Championship victory over Nemeth at Genesis, Joe Hendry wasted no time in calling out John Cena. With Cena set to retire from wrestling in 2025, fans are eager to see if he might make an appearance—or even have a match—in TNA.

Meanwhile, TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich recently appeared on WWE NXT and has hinted at more involvement with the silver brand. With NXT Superstars making appearances at Genesis, the partnership is already off to a promising start.

Logan Paul & Theo Von Beef Over Donald Trump Inauguration ‘Prank’

0

WWE Raw Superstar Logan Paul was an attendee at Donald Trump’s Presidential inauguration earlier this week, bringing his unique personality to the event in Washington. Stand-up comedian Theo Von was also part of the inauguration, and now the pair are beefing over a chair-related ‘prank.’

On X, Paul shared a video of Von’s chair giving out under him, causing the Comedian to fall backwards into Paul’s lap. In a response, Von accused Logan and Jake Paul of sabotaging his chair.

Now, Paul has responded. In another post on X, Paul asserted his innocence and reminded Von that one is “innocent until proven guilty” in the United States of America. Von also fired back, saying that he’d heard differently and alluded to Paul’s role as a WWE Superstar.

Logan Paul and Theo Von were just two notable names at the inauguration of the WWE Hall of Famer-turned U.S. President. Conor McGregor was spotted with Paul, as was WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson. Linda McMahon has been touted to be Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Education, despite having no past experience in education.

Paul will be a part of next week’s WWE Raw, which will serve as the go-home show ahead of WWE Royal Rumble 2025 on February 2. There’s no word on what Paul will do or say on next week’s show, though many expect him to declare for the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

Netflix Price Hike: Watching WWE Raw Just Got Costlier

0

Watching WWE Raw on Netflix is about to get costlier.

The Streaming Giant announced on Tuesday that they’ll be raising their standard subscription praises for US customers from $15.49 to $17.99.

The ad-supported tier will go up to $7.99 from the standard of $6.99 while the premium tier allowing four simultaneous streams will be getting a $2 raise to $24.99. Adding an extra member to a primary account is also going to get a dollar costlier, now being charged at $8.99.

Countries like Canada, Portugal, and Argentina are expected to be affected by the price hike as well. Netflix last raised prices in October 2023 with various plans going up by as much as $3.

WWE Raw On Netflix

This announcement comes after the streaming platform acquired broadcast rights of Monday Night Raw in the US last year in an unprecedented $5 billion deal. The Red Branded show left cable TV for the first time in its history as part of this deal and moved to Netflix earlier this month.

The January 6 premiere episode broke viewership records for the show. It debuted with 2.6 million household views in US, double of the show’s average on its previous home USA Network in 2024.

The show has continued to deliver strong numbers following the much-hyped premiere. The January 13th episode, featuring the viral debut of former AEW star Penta among other big moments ranked at #4 on Netflix’s Top 10 shows of the week globally with 3.7 million views.

WWE Legend Steve Austin Healing After Total Knee Replacement

0

WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin has shared an update on his recovery journey after undergoing total knee replacement surgery on his left knee. The 60-year-old wrestling legend posted on Instagram that he is seven weeks into his recovery and healing well after years of delaying the procedure.

“My left knee was on its last leg, and I’ve been putting this surgery off for years,” Austin wrote. “Post-op X-rays show everything is healing nicely.”

However, Austin admitted to overexerting himself early on, which caused setbacks.

“I started walking way too soon and too far, and really pissed off my new knee. Total Knee Replacement is a year-long healing process, so I don’t know what the hell I was thinking,” he explained, adding that swelling remains an issue but progress is steady.

Austin also shared his excitement about returning to the Mint 400, a challenging off-road racing event held near Las Vegas, in seven weeks.

“I will get back in my @kawasakiusa KRX1000 for the first time this weekend to knock the rust off and get back to driving,” he said, expressing his gratitude for the demanding nature of desert racing and his love of competition.

Austin’s knee issues date back to his college football days, long before his wrestling career. During an October appearance on Bobbycast, he acknowledged that knee replacement surgery was long overdue.

Despite his injuries, Austin remains optimistic and determined to stay active, showing his resilience both in and out of the ring.

WWE to Host UK and European Tryouts in London This March

0

WWE is already home to a massive roster filled with talented wrestlers, but now the promotion is on the hunt for even more names. According to Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan, WWE is set to host a tryout in early March, offering top independent talent from the UK and Europe an opportunity to impress.

The tryout is scheduled to take place in London, England, and WWE already has its eye on some notable names from the UK indie circuit, incluing Rhio, Tate Mayfairs, and Damian Corvin. The report adds that some major UK names were unaware of the tryout when initially contacted.

Wrestlers from promotions such as wXw, OTT, and PROGRESS are expected to take part. WWE has set a deadline of February 28 for applications.

Gage Goldberg Says Triple H Has Offered Him A WWE Tryout

Some of WWE’s top stars honed their skills in the UK and Europe including World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, Sheamus, and Drew McIntyre, Now, this tryout presents a major opportunity for Europe’s top wrestling talent, but only a select few will earn WWE Superstar status. 2024 saw WWE hire several notable names including Zaria, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia, all of whom are now part of WWE NXT.

No matter who proceeds to the next roun after these tryouts, its clear some careers are set to take a step to the next level. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on these tryouts and WWE’s quest to find new Superstars.

Andre Chase Returns to NXT with a Somber Message

0

The January 21 episode of WWE NXT on The CW saw a major return to the silver brand as Andre Chase was a part of the show’s broadcast. Chase made his long-awaited comeback after being absent since his stable, Chase U, was dismantled. Ridge Holland brought an end to Chase U during the November 19, episode, a move that also saw Holland become number one contender for the NXT Championship. After two months away, Chase resurfaced this week with a sad piece of advice for one of NXT’s most popular tag-teams.

During the second hour of this week’s show, Chase appeared backstage looking noticeably depressed and disheveled. As an old Chase U clip played on a television behind him, Chase made his return and delivered a sobering message to Hank and Tank, telling them to split up now because “all tag teams just end in heartbreak.” It was an uncharacteristically somber statement from the former leader of Chase U who had been a force of positivity during his Chase U days.

Chase didn’t say much more before walking off. While his future remains uncertain, it’s clear that his journey in NXT is far from over. Whether Chase U will reunite remains to be seen, but right now, Chase wants no part of any group, and is warning others against teaming up.

Netflix Doubles WWE Raw’s Audience in First Week, Says Ted Sarandos

0

WWE’s Monday Night Raw has seen a highly successful launch on Netflix, with viewership numbers significantly surpassing its previous performance on linear television. During Netflix’s recent earnings call, Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed that the show garnered approximately 5 million views in its first week—double the average audience it had been drawing on traditional TV platforms. Sarandos noted this outcome was aligned with Netflix’s projections, calling it “a great start.”

The streaming platform has also driven considerable growth in international and non-live viewership. Sarandos reported a 25% increase in day-after viewing, with notable engagement outside U.S. time zones. “This is new viewing in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil—key markets where we’re seeing strong traction,” he added, signaling Raw’s expanding global appeal.

Domestically, the show’s performance on Netflix has been equally impressive. According to Sarandos, “In the U.S., our viewing of Monday Night Raw was as big as it has been in five years.”

This resurgence highlights the platform’s ability to revitalize WWE’s core U.S. audience while attracting a younger, broader demographic.

Sarandos also discussed the importance of maintaining financial viability in Netflix’s sports content strategy. He emphasized the need for deals that are economically sustainable for both the platform and the sports leagues, stating, “We want to bring value to the sport like we have with WWE and the NFL, reaching a bigger, younger, and more global audience than linear television. But these dynamics must also reflect in the economics of the deal.”

Netflix’s success with Monday Night Raw and its broader push into sports content highlights its capability to grow audiences while staying financially pragmatic—a promising development for both WWE and the streaming platform.

Jeff Jarrett Explains How WWE-TNA Alliance Redefines Wrestling

0

Professional wrestling has always been a business steeped in competition, from the territory days to the Monday Night Wars of the 1990s. But as the industry continues to evolve in the modern era, collaboration has emerged as a key to its growth. Few know this better than Jeff Jarrett, WWE Hall of Famer and co-creator of TNA Wrestling, who recently shared his insights on the groundbreaking partnership between WWE and TNA.

Speaking on Fanrun Radio (FOX Sports Knoxville), Jarrett shared his thoughts on the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of putting fans first in this bold new era for wrestling.

“When TNA got started in 2002, that name and branding went through a lot of evolutions,” he said. “Seeing it now in collaboration with WWE just shows how far the business has come.”

This partnership marks a significant shift in the landscape of professional wrestling. Historically, rival promotions often operated in isolation or outright hostility, but Jarrett believes those days are behind us.

“The days of not working together and that type mindset—it’s just so yester-year,” he explained. “If you can create a scenario where the wrestling fan wins, we all win.”

Jarrett pointed out that modern wrestling fans consume the product differently than in the past.

“The wrestling business has never been this big,” he said. “With WWE now on Netflix, not just seen nationwide but literally global, and AEW live on Max, it’s clear that wrestling is adapting to the modern media landscape.”

The Benefits of Collaboration

For Jarrett, the WWE-TNA partnership is a win for everyone involved, especially the fans. By working together, promotions can create dream scenarios, showcase talent to broader audiences, and keep wrestling fresh and exciting.

“If it’s good for the customer, it’s incumbent upon the business to figure out how to adapt and make it work for the bottom line,” he said.

What This Means for the Future

WWE and TNA Logos

The WWE-TNA partnership could serve as a model for future collaborations in wrestling. Promotions that once fiercely guarded their territories are now seeing the value in cross-promotion. Jarrett believes this shift reflects a larger trend in the industry.

“You have to listen to your paying customer,” he emphasized. “The customer is always right. If it’s good for the fans, then we all win.”

The Rise of TNA and Its Place in Wrestling History

TNA Wrestling, founded in 2002 by Jeff and Jerry Jarrett, emerged during a pivotal moment in professional wrestling history, shortly after WCW’s closure in 2001. The company launched its operations at the Tennessee State Fairground Sports Arena, fondly referred to as the “TNA Asylum,” where it introduced a groundbreaking weekly pay-per-view model.

Throughout its history, TNA established itself as North America’s second-largest wrestling promotion, particularly during the 2000s and early 2010s. Its impact on professional wrestling was profound, bringing innovations like the six-sided ring and the high-energy X-Division matches, which influenced the industry for years to come.

TNA’s legacy is defined by its ability to spotlight both established legends and emerging talent. The promotion featured iconic performers such as Sting, Kurt Angle, and Jeff Jarrett, while also nurturing homegrown stars like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Moreover, TNA revolutionized women’s wrestling with its Knockouts division, providing a platform for female wrestlers at a time when women’s wrestling received limited attention elsewhere.

The company’s influence extended beyond its own programming, as many of its innovations and talent development practices were later adopted by other promotions, solidifying its place in professional wrestling history.

Corey Graves Returns to WWE NXT: “Right Where I Want to Be”

0

Corey Graves made his return to the NXT commentary desk during tonight’s broadcast, ending a brief hiatus tied to recent public controversy. Graves had missed the January 14 episode after voicing dissatisfaction on social media regarding his transition from the WWE main roster to NXT. During his return, Graves addressed viewers indirectly, saying:

“I am right where I want to be. Where passion is everything and only the hungry survive and pro wrestling never stopped being cool.”

Graves’ return comes amid ongoing changes in WWE’s commentary lineup. Raw commentary is now handled by Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett call the action on SmackDown.

Graves sparked widespread attention with a social media post implying frustration over his move, claiming he was told he wasn’t “famous enough” for his prior role. Many interpreted this as a pointed remark referencing current Raw commentators Pat McAfee and Joe Tessitore.

Saraya Splits Up With Ronnie Radke

0

Saraya Bevis, known professionally as AEW’s Saraya, and Ronnie Radke, the lead vocalist of Falling in Reverse, have ended their six-year relationship. According to TMZ Sports, the couple broke up late last year. Speculation about their split began over a month ago when Saraya notably did not post a birthday tribute to Radke on December 15, a gesture often made by public couples.

While the reasons for their breakup remain unclear, both maintain demanding schedules. Saraya is actively involved with AEW and other projects, while Radke’s band is heavily booked with gigs. During their time together, Falling in Reverse released the single “Zombified,” which Saraya adopted as her entrance theme in AEW.

Saraya has not appeared on AEW television since the October 8 episode of Dynamite, where she participated in a four-way AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Match against Jamie Hayter, Willow Nightingale, and Nyla Rose. At the 11th annual Reality Television Awards in November, Saraya revealed she was taking a short break from AEW.

She later addressed speculation about her absence, and said her time off was requested for personal reasons. Saraya reportedly re-signed with AEW in Fall 2024.

Undertaker on WWE’s Modern Schedule: Are Fewer Matches Hindering Development?

0

WWE legend The Undertaker recently expressed his concerns about the reduced match schedules for today’s WWE talent. While the lighter workload helps safeguard wrestlers’ health and longevity, The Deadman argues on his Six Feet Under podcast that fewer live events may limit opportunities for performers to refine their craft and experiment creatively.

“Iron sharpens iron,” The Undertaker explained, emphasizing the value of consistent in-ring work. “You need those reps to keep your body and skills sharp. It’s hard to stay sharp when you’re only working four or five matches a month.”

The Role of Live Events in Skill-Building

Reflecting on his own career, The Undertaker credited the rigorous schedule of live events for shaping him into one of WWE’s greatest performers. “We made as many live events as we could because that’s how we got better,” he said. These non-televised house shows allowed wrestlers to experiment with new moves, refine their storytelling, and perfect their timing in front of an audience without the pressure of live television. The Undertaker highlighted the creative freedom live events provided, noting,

“We tried new things at live events. You don’t want to experiment with something new on live TV and have it fall flat.”

A Double-Edged Sword: Health vs. Performance

The lighter schedules of today’s WWE stars represent a significant shift from the grueling workload of previous generations. For years, wrestlers performed upwards of 300 nights annually, often at the expense of their physical health. The current approach prioritizes long-term well-being, with performers now working as few as four or five matches a month.

However, The Undertaker argues this reduction comes at a cost. Without the frequent opportunities to wrestle, he worries that younger talent might struggle to maintain their in-ring sharpness and storytelling abilities.

“Reps are what keep you sharp,” he reiterated.

Striking the Right Balance

The Undertaker suggested potential solutions to address the tradeoff between health and skill-building, such as increasing house show schedules or finding alternative environments for talent to hone their skills. He stressed the importance of preserving the art of professional wrestling while safeguarding the health of performers for future generations.

As WWE continues to evolve, balancing these priorities will be critical. The Undertaker’s perspective highlights the need to maintain high standards of in-ring performance while adapting to the modern demands of health-conscious schedules.

Corey Graves Expected Back on Commentary For Tonight’s WWE NXT

0

Corey Graves appears to be returning to a regular routine after a tumultuous few weeks in WWE. The commentator sparked attention last week with a tweet expressing frustration over his recent move to NXT. Graves claimed he was told he wasn’t “famous enough” for a spot on Raw or SmackDown, leading to his assignment on NXT.

According to Corey Brennan of Fightful Select, Graves is scheduled to be back on television at tonight’s WWE NXT and is expected to attend afternoon rehearsals at the WWE Performance Center.

WWE NXT Preview for Tonight (1/21)

Brennan noted that there has been no indication from Graves or his inner circle that this situation is part of a storyline.

Last week in a post on X/Twitter, Graves expressed disappointment in his role with WWE.

“Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something ‘dream adjacent’ and being pretty f**ing awesome at it. And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.”

He was reportedly scheduled to be at last week’s WWE NXT broadcast, but did not appear.

Intergender Matches Teased for WWE 2K25

0

WWE Games continues to drop clues about new features being added to WWE 2K25 ahead of the next big news drop on January 28.

On Monday, they released a hype video for the game that strongly implies intergender matches are returning to WWE’s annual video game for the first time in 16 years. The caption contains male and female emoji symbols, the first hint.

Rhea Ripley, who will certainly be one of the highest rated playable characters on the WWE 2K25 roster, gets cut off while saying,

“WWE 2K25 fans, Mami is here with a little message to, you know, kick things off for WWE 2K25. I mean, some people think that inter…”

Dominik Mysterio takes over and says the ‘juicy secret’ (presumably Intergender matches in WWE) is between him and Liv Morgan.

Intergender Matches in WWE Games

While some recent WWE games like WWE 2K24 have allowed players to play intergender matches through unofficial methods like mods, WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2009 was the last WWE video game to officially sanction men wrestling women. Wrestling video game fans who have bemoaned its removal can blame WWE’s “PG Era.” After WWE television adopted a PG rating in 2008, the company moved away from featuring male versus female matches in both their programming and video games.

WWE 2K25: Release Date, Roster and News

Tessa Blanchard: Mad Now? This Is Only The Beginning

0

At TNA Genesis, Tessa Blanchard defeated Jordynne Grace in the controversial wrestler’s first match for the promotion since 2020. Many fans have been opposed to Blanchard’s return to TNA, but that won’t stop the former Impact World Champion.

On Instagram, Blanchard had a message at those fans angry to see her back in TNA. The second-generation wrestler told those mad to “just wait” and that “This is only the beginning.”

Tessa Blanchard Controversy

Tessa Blanchard has faced significant controversy in professional wrestling due to allegations of racism and bullying, which have had lasting effects on her career and public image.

Allegations of Racism: In 2020, several wrestlers accused Blanchard of making racially insensitive remarks and using a racial slur during a 2017 incident involving wrestler La Rosa Negra. Negra claimed Blanchard spat on her and directed a racial slur at her while in Japan. Although Blanchard denied these accusations, the claims triggered widespread backlash within the wrestling community.

Bullying Accusations: Alongside the racism allegations, Blanchard was accused by multiple wrestlers, including WWE’s Chelsea Green, of exhibiting bullying behavior backstage. Wrestlers from promotions such as AEW, Impact Wrestling, and NWA voiced similar complaints, cementing her reputation as a divisive figure among her peers.

Career Impact: These controversies erupted as Blanchard was poised to make history as the first woman to win the Impact Wrestling World Championship. Despite the achievement, the allegations overshadowed her victory. Later in 2020, Blanchard was stripped of the title and her contract terminated. Although Impact Wrestling cited contractual disagreements, the allegations significantly influenced public and professional perceptions of her.

Efforts to Reconcile: Blanchard has made some attempts to repair her reputation, including a public reconciliation with La Rosa Negra in 2023. Photos of the two together suggested they had resolved their issues. However, despite some support from figures like TNA’s Matt Hardy, Blanchard continues to face criticism for not fully addressing or taking accountability for the allegations.

While Blanchard is currently active in wrestling, including with TNA Wrestling, which seems intent on showcasing her as a leading talent, it remains uncertain whether fans and the broader wrestling community will fully embrace her again. For now, she continues to focus on her in-ring performances amid ongoing debates about her place in the industry.

Las Vegas Secured WrestleMania 41 in Record Time

0

WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest annual event, is making its long-awaited return to Las Vegas for the first time since 1993’s WrestleMania IX, which was held at Caesars Palace. That event is remembered for its unique outdoor setting and the controversial conclusion where Hulk Hogan won the WWE Championship from Yokozuna mere moments after Bret Hart failed to do so.

This year’s WrestleMania 41 promises to deliver even more spectacle, taking place over two nights at Allegiant Stadium in 2025. WWE President Nick Khan and Steve Hill, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the decision during a fireside chat at Preview Las Vegas on January 16. The discussion covered how quickly the deal materialized, WWE’s international growth strategy, and Khan’s personal ties to Las Vegas.

How the Deal Came Together in Record Time

Nick Khan shared that the idea to bring WrestleMania 41 to Las Vegas was sparked during the city’s hosting of the Super Bowl. Impressed by how grand the event felt, Khan approached the LVCVA about hosting WrestleMania in 2025. Remarkably, a deal was in motion within hours.

“We were here for the Super Bowl—all of us. Anyone who was in Las Vegas at that time saw how big it was and how big it felt,” said Khan. “I called and said, ‘You know, that was big, and I think it exceeded our high expectations.’ I realized we weren’t yet locked in for WrestleMania 2025. So I asked, ‘What do you guys think about doing it in Vegas?’”

According to Khan, the LVCVA responded enthusiastically.

“They said, ‘Give us a day, and we’ll get back to you.’ Probably two hours later, they called back and said they had spoken with Steve Hill, who wanted to meet. ‘Can you bring the team to town so we can all get in a room together?’”

Khan credited the efficiency of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for the rapid progress. “There’s no bureaucracy with the LVCVA that we’ve experienced. It was clear they wanted this. They primarily put the deal together quickly, and boom—here we are. It’s been a great experience. We always say the result matters. But the process matters just as much, and this process has been A+—thanks to you,” he added, directly addressing Hill.

Paris to Host a WWE Premium Live Event in 2025

During the fireside chat, the conversation also touched on WWE’s broader growth plans. Nick Khan announced that WWE would host another Premium Live Event in Paris this year, a move that reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in international markets.

The Preview Las Vegas discussion also highlighted Khan’s personal connection to the city. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Khan emphasized how significant it is for him to bring WWE’s marquee event to his hometown. WrestleMania 41 will cement Las Vegas as a premier destination for WWE and further elevate Allegiant Stadium’s reputation as a top venue for global events.

0

On the latest edition of the Insight podcast, WWE/TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently opened up about his battles with addiction, his road to recovery, and the legacy he hopes to leave behind. After joining WWE in 1999, Angle quickly became one of the promotion’s top stars, though painkiller addiction later in his career plagued the Olympic Gold Medalist for years.

The Destructive Grip of Addiction

At the height of his addiction, Angle’s reliance on painkillers became overwhelming. Like many wrestlers, Angle began using painkillers to manage injuries sustained from years in the ring. However, the pressures of maintaining a high-performance career in the ring quickly led to Angle abusing painkillers.

“I was taking 65 painkillers a day, about 2,200 pills a month. My addiction overtook my life.”

His addiction not only jeopardized his career but also strained his personal life. Angle revealed that the turning point came in 2012 when his wife, Giovanna, issued an ultimatum that saved his life: “Go to rehab, or I’m taking the kids and leaving.”

A Life-Altering Decision

Confronted with the possibility of losing his family, Angle knew he had to change. With his wife’s ultimatum, Angle entered rehab, marking the beginning of his journey toward sobriety. Reflecting on the experience, Angle shared credit to his family for making him change. “It wasn’t just about me anymore. I had to fight for them.” Since completing rehab, Angle has achieved an inspiring milestone: 14 years of sobriety. He considers this achievement to be the pinnacle of his life.

“I’ve been clean and sober for 14 years now. That’s my greatest accomplishment,” he said.

Rebuilding and Redefining His Legacy

Angle’s sobriety not only allowed him to repair his personal relationships but also to rebuild his professional reputation. In the years following his recovery, the Hall of Famer has become an advocate for addiction awareness. He has used his platform to share his story, hoping to inspire others facing similar struggles to seek help.

In 2016, Angle launched the Angle Strong brand to help those battle with addiction to substances. Looking back, Angle is grateful for the second chance given to him. For the Olympian, his true legacy lies not in his wrestling accolades but in his resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

“Chris Benoit was like wrestling my twin,” Angle shared. “The intensity we brought out of each other was unmatched.”

Other Iconic Matches and Dream Opponents

Kurt Angle Reflects on Career, Wishes He’d Retired a Decade Earlier

Kurt Angle recently opened up about his career which he wishes he had ended his in-ring career a decade earlier. On the Insight podcast, the Olympic gold medalist admitted that continuing to wrestle into his 40s took a toll on his body and affected the way he wanted fans to remember him.

“I wish I would have finished my career in WWE 10 years shorter in WWE or TNA… So in other words, instead of 20 years, I think 10 would have been enough and I think I would have been okay.”

Instead of retiring in 2009, which would’ve marked a decade since his Survivor Series 1999 debut, Angle wrestled for another ten years before his final match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. On the podcast, Angle reflected on watching his matches and knowing he had to go.

“I didn’t like what I saw. I didn’t want the fans remembering me as a broken down Kurt Angle. I wanted them to remember me when I was in my prime.”

Had Angle retired when he wishes, fans would’ve lost out on much of the Olympian’s career in TNA Wrestling. In 2017, Angle returned to action as part of WWE and would be part of Ronda Rousey’s debut match the following year. During his return, would work with names including The Shield, Chad Gable, and Baron Corbin.
