Tony Schiavone Comments On Chris Jericho AEW Contract Speculation

0

Tony Schiavone addressed swirling Chris Jericho contract speculation on his What Happened When podcast with Conrad Thompson, revealing he remains in the dark despite recent extensive time backstage with Tony Khan.

“If there’s smoke to that fire, it has not been thrown my way,” Schiavone began. “I was backstage with Tony Khan most of this entire trip (for Forbidden Door). Chris Jericho’s name was not mentioned. But that doesn’t mean anything.”

The veteran announcer’s comments provide an interesting contrast to Khan’s recent heartfelt praise of Jericho during the ROH Death before Dishonor media call, where the AEW President credited Jericho as foundational to both AEW and ROH’s success.

Schiavone acknowledged Khan’s secretive approach to business dealings, explaining why he might be kept out of the loop.

“Tony, a lot of times, he’ll get on the phone with that person and not tell anybody. He likes to keep things close to the vest. I don’t know. I really don’t know.”

The AEW personality admitted his own curiosity about the situation, adding, “I’ve been wondering myself. I guess I should have asked, and then I would have known.”

Speculation continues to mount about Jericho’s future, with industry sources suggesting he may be considering a WWE return in early 2026. However, Khan recently expressed his desire to “have Chris back” while praising the nine-time world champion’s contributions.

Early Estimates For AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View Buys

0

The initial pay-per-view buyrate estimates for this past Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event have been reported, and the early numbers are considered to be strong. The event, which took place at The O2 Arena in London, England, had an early afternoon start time for audiences in the United States, a factor that was expected to impact its buys.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided the first estimates for the show’s performance. He reported that the numbers are tracking similarly to AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view from May.

“The early PPV numbers look to be identical to Double or Nothing, which was estimated at 122,000 to 130,000 buys. I’d call that very good because the early start time had to hurt in the U.S.”

The event was headlined by a 10-man Lights Out Steel Cage match and also featured several championship bouts, including “Hangman” Adam Page successfully defending the AEW World Championship against MJF. The show had only championship change of the night – Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) won the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Mike Chioda Shares His Most Painful WWE Referee Moments

0

Mike Chioda may have spent much of his career officiating in-ring action, but there were plenty of times when the former WWE official was forced to get physical. Whether it was standing up to cheating wrestlers or taking bumps in the ring, Chioda wasn’t immune to pain despite not being a wrestler.

Speaking on the Insight podcast, Chioda took a stroll down memory lane and recounted some of his more painful moments. One such moment came during the Mick Foley Vs. Randy Orton match at WWE Backlash 2004, when Chioda’s count resulted in thumbtacks being embedded in his hand.

“I had one or two thumbtacks and it stung like a son of a, because I count really hard, right? I remember, boom. I was like, oh sh*t. I’m thinking Orton got like 75 of these things in his back, I can’t be complaining here.”

Like countless other referess, Chioda would take ref bumps throughout his career. It was one of these bumps that scored him a tidy bonus on WWE’s grandest stage in 1999.

“$2500. Yeah, it was a chair shot that Stone Cold gave me [at WrestleMania 15]. Because I started the match for the first 5-10 minutes, and I take the chair shot and I get knocked out.

“My head rang for like three days, ears were ringing, it was pretty cool. He [Jim Ross] goes, ‘You’re getting a bonus for that Mike.’ I was like, oh my god, thanks, JR. Got that bonus on top of the WrestleMania pay.”

Chioda was WWE’s longest-serving referee before his release, and shared on the podcast that he is retired for the most part. His story goes to show how its not just the wrestlers who put their bodies on the line any time a bell rings.

WWE Alum Melina Returning To The Ring After 3 Years

0

Former WWE Superstar Melina is set to make a return to the ring, and hopes that Paris, France is the setting of her triumphant return. On Facebook, Melina shared some photos of herself in the city of lights and hyped up her return to action.

Coming back to Paris means so much to me. When I was young, I dreamed of this city, and when I finally made it here with WWE, we left so quickly it broke my heart. Still, the beauty, culture, and spirit of Paris stayed with me all these years.

Now, I’m beyond happy to return—not only to enjoy the magic of France, but also to step into the ring once again in the city where I won my second title.

Tomorrow, I’ll be wrestling at #dragattackparis —grateful for this chance, grateful for the people here, and grateful for all of you who continue to support me.

Merci, Paris. Je t’aime. ????

Melina’s return to the ring comes three years after her most recent match for WrestlePro in May 2022. That match saw the former WWE Women’s Champion lose to Scarlett Bordeaux, but Melina plans on a much different result this time around. Melina’s match in Paris will come mere days before WWE takes over the French capital for their Clash in Paris PLE.

It remains to be seen if Melina’s return is a one-off, or the start of something bigger for the veteran wrestler. But with Melina proving she can still hit the splits in a separate Facebook post, fans can expect a nostalgic performance from the former Divas/Women’s Champion.

Elayna Black On Break: I Have A Toxic Relationship With Wrestling

0

In July 2025, Elayna Black shared that she’d be taking an indefinite break from pro wrestling, with no sign of when she’ll be back. Speaking to TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the former WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion recalled the period of time after her release from WWE in early 2025.

“I had like 20 bookings right away. I was gone four days out of the week, plane right after plane. I was going, going, going. And that’s what made me realize—I’m not having fun doing this.”

Black was suffering from panic attacks before every match, and felt sick at the prospect of wrestling. While she made clear that she’s never once said she’s leaving wrestling, her relationship with the business is currently strained.

“I have a toxic relationship with wrestling right now. It was just so draining. I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t eating. I wasn’t working out. I was so depressed. I got to such a low, low point.”

Black, known to WWE fans as Cora Jade “would have went nuts and went off the rails” if not for this break from the ring. Even after just one month, the positive effect she’s felt already can’t be ignored.

Even just after this like month of therapy and healing and not looking at anything wrestling related, it has genuinely helped me so much.”

Whenever Black returns to the squared circle, only time will tell. For now, the former WWE Superstar is focusing on herself and her own mental health.

Wrestlers Leaving KnokX Pro, Rikishi Planning Overhaul Claims Talent

0

Major changes are coming to KnokX Pro Wrestling, it has been claimed, following the shocking actions of Raja Jackson at their latest event. Jackson’s attack on Syko Stu has stunned the wrestling world and in its wake, KnokX Pro has suffered significant losses.

Douglas Malo was among those who were at the event and stepped in to stop Jackon’s attack on Stu. Speaking on Masters of Wrestling, Malo explained how changes are being planned following this shocking incident.

“From what I’ve heard, Rikishi is going to overhaul everything. I just wanted to put that out there… they’re planning a complete overhaul.”

This incident has earned KnokX Pro international attention, albeit for the wrong reasons. Malo added that in the wake of the attack, talent are distancing themselves from KnokX Pro.

“They’ve lost a good number of students, and that breaks my heart because I absolutely adore Rikishi. That’s really the status right now—the students are dropping like flies.”

It’s not just talent that have left, as WWE has cut ties with KnokX Pro, which had been a WWE ID affiliate. Whether the promotion can recover remains to be seen, but Rikishi is counting on these sweeping changes to save his promotion.

Tony Khan Delivers Heartfelt Praise for Chris Jericho, Addresses AEW Future Speculation

0

Tony Khan delivered heartfelt praise for Chris Jericho during the pre-ROH Death before Dishonor media call, addressing speculation about the veteran’s AEW future with deeply personal comments.

“I would never be where I am in AEW without Chris Jericho, nor would we be in a position where I could have bought ROH, so I’m very grateful to Chris,” Khan stated, crediting Jericho as foundational to both companies’ success.

The AEW President revealed a personal connection spanning decades, sharing that he’s been a Jericho fan since age 12. “The first time I ever set foot in 2300 Arena was actually Chris’ last night in ECW and it was very important to me because I’d been a fan of Chris since I was a very, very young kid.”

Khan’s comments come amid industry speculation that Jericho may be finishing his AEW run and considering a WWE return in early 2026. However, Khan made his position clear: “So if and when the time presents itself, hopefully, would love to have Chris back.”

The nine-time world champion and two-time ROH World Champion has been integral to AEW since its launch, with Khan describing him as “a great champion, a great ambassador, a great leader and a great friend to all of us.”

Khan concluded by emphasizing Jericho’s standing: “Chris Jericho’s always in the highest of standing with me and with AEW and ROH.”

Sheamus Reveals Original Plan For His Clash At The Castle Match With GUNTHER

0

Sheamus has revealed that one of his most praised matches of his career, his Intercontinental Championship bout against GUNTHER at Clash at the Castle in 2022, was not the original plan for the show.

Speaking with Robert Jackman of Uncrowned, “The Celtic Warrior” looked back on the match, which he considers one of the best of his career. He then revealed that he was not the originally scheduled opponent for GUNTHER at the premium live event in Cardiff, Wales.

“The original plan was actually meant to be GUNTHER defending his title against Shinsuke Nakamura,” Sheamus said.

The encounter between Sheamus and GUNTHER stole the show at the UK-based event. Despite coming up short in his attempt to win the Intercontinental Championship, Sheamus’s performance led to him getting a lengthy standing ovation from the Cardiff crowd after the match, a truly memorable moment.

Sheamus is currently in a rivalry with Rusev. The two are set to collide this Sunday, August 31, at the Clash in Paris premium live event in a Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match.

Tony Khan On Chris Jericho’s AEW Future: “Would Love To Have Chris Back”

0

AEW President Tony Khan has addressed the status of AEW original and former World Champion, Chris Jericho. During a media call ahead of this week’s Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, Khan heaped praise on the absent star and stated that he would “love to have Chris back” in the company.

When asked about Jericho, Khan called him a foundational figure for both of his promotions. “I have to think Chris Jericho’s one of the greatest and most important people ever in AEW and has been a great two-time ROH World Champion,” Khan said.

“We wouldn’t be as fortunate to be in this position – I would never be where I am in AEW without Chris Jericho, nor would we be in a position where I could have bought ROH, so I’m very grateful to Chris,” he continued. “I have so much respect for Chris and I think the world of him.”

Khan also directly addressed the possibility of Jericho returning to the company following his extended absence from television. “So if and when the time presents itself, hopefully, would love to have Chris back,” he stated.

“Chris Jericho’s always in the highest of standing with me and with AEW and ROH, where he has been a great champion, a great ambassador, a great leader and a great friend to all of us, and Chris Jericho’s a huge part of our companies here. So thanks for asking,” Khan concluded.

The comments come as Jericho’s future remains a topic of speculation. He has been off AEW television since April, and his contract with the company is set to expire at the end of 2025. Khan’s positive comments come amidst recent reports from the Wrestling Observer and WrestleVotes that there is “lots and lots of talk” within WWE about Jericho making a return to that company.

Roman Reigns: Fan Backlash Forced Me To Evolve As A Wrestler & A Person

0

Though he may be a beloved Tribal Chief acknowledged by millions, Roman Reigns spent years trying to win over audiences to little success. From his time as ‘the Big Dog’ to trying to win-over audiences with Shield reunions, Reigns had a rocky path before establishing himself as the Head of the Table in 2020.

Speaking to Stephanie McMahon on the What’s Your Story? podcast, Reigns looked back on his babyface past.

“At the end of the day… the challenges, the pressures, and the fan reactions all forced me to evolve—not just as a performer, but as a person.”

Though Reigns often had younger fans on his side at the time, many see his babyface run pre-2020 as a ‘failure.’ Whether Reigns sees it that way or not, it ultimately helped teach him what he needed to learn.

“What looked like a ‘failed’ run was necessary for me to find out who I truly am in front of the fans and for myself.”

Today, Reigns is loved by the fans, as seen during the ‘Stand Up if you love Roman’ during the August 25, WWE Raw in Birmingham, England. In front of a crowd that had never shied away from sharing their disdain for ‘the Big Dog’ the response received by the Tribal Chief demonstrated how much things have changed.

Roman Reigns Reveals His Key Beliefs to WWE Mastery

0

Roman Reigns’ name will go down in WWE history as one of the all-time greats with a plethora of accolades and records to his name. Speaking to the What’s Your Story? podcast, however, Reigns made clear to Stephanie McMahon that his road to the very top of professional wrestling was not without work and started with a single step.

“At the end of the day, you have to put the reps in, you have to grind it out. You have to get your 10,000 hours, and you have to kind of get close to a mastery of what you’re trying to do before you can truly go all in on it.”

Now, Reigns has indeed ‘mastered’ WWE as one of the promotion’s biggest-ever stars who continue to gets thunderous ovations. Despite reaching the top, the OTC continues to look for ways to improve, whether it’s in the ring or on the mic.

“Once you’ve done something over and over… you get to where you’ve done things so many times, you know how to clean it up, make it. When we do our promos, I’m always thinking: how do I tighten it up because I’m so wordy. How do I make it more concise to the point?”

Punctuality is key to mastering a skill, according to the Tribal Chief. For Reigns, being late not only displays a poor work ethic, but a lack of respect to those around you.

“Being late is actually being disrespectful to other people’s time. Other people’s time is just as important as your time, so be on time.”

Reigns’ combination of dedication, drive, and punctuality has made one of the most dominant Superstars of all time, with or without a championship. As fans continue to rally behind their Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns will continue to find ways to improve in the ring.

Roman Reigns On Family Life: You Have To Be Present

0

Roman Reigns may be one of the biggest names in pro wrestling today, but he’ll never be too big to make time for his family. On the What’s Your Story? podcast, Reigns explained how the adoration of millions around the world doesn’t matter when he steps through the door of his home.

“You’ve got to be present when you go home. You have to be present. It doesn’t matter what you do out here, you have to be present. I took that to heart so much, and I’ve transformed that to be a bigger part of my life.”

A global Superstar who is taken across the world, Reigns’ role as a family man is easier said than done. For the OTC, finding the right balance is a priority, not just for him, but for any one starting a new life on the road.

“Being able to balance home and road life, that’s a key priority. That’s a puzzle to figure out for a young performer traveling the world trying to make it… To be able to be a professional in both regards, be a professional in your personal life too.”

Reigns and his wife Galina met in 2005 at Georgia Institute of Technology and married in 2014. Together, the pair have five children, an eldest daughter and two sets of twin sons. Reigns doesn’t have plans for any more children, refuting a recent rumor of a sixth child.

Reigns has plenty of family around him in WWE, but time away from his wife and children can come often and with great difficulty. For Reigns, his family is his priority as he makes sure to be fully with them whenever they are together.

Roman Reigns Won’t Choose Between WWE & Hollywood

0

Roman Reigns may have Hollywood aspirations, but the OTC isn’t prepared to choose between the silver screen and the squared circle. Appearing on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, Reigns shared his bold goal: to be both an active WWE Superstar and a Hollywood A-Lister simultaneously.

“I wanted to be the first guy who could do both. Damn near lead a movie. And then also still, you know, main event, a pay per view. I don’t want to stop being a WWE Superstar in order to wear other hats… I’m always going to be Roman Reigns.”

Of course, Reigns isn’t the first WWE name to dip a toe into acting. Whilst he acknowledges that John Cena has reached massive success on the big screen as his WWE career took a back seat, Reigns plans to do things differently.

“He [John] did it his way. But to really be able to do both and like damn near lead a movie and then also still, you know, main event a pay per view and to have that type of responsibility, because there’s a lot riding on that.”

Reigns has taken some acting roles in the past and will be a part of the highly-anticipated Street Fighter remake that’ll also feature Cody Rhodes. Even as his star in Hollywood continues to grow, Reigns remains a wrestler at heart.

“I don’t want to stop being a WWE Superstar in order to wear other hats. I’m always going to be a WWE Superstar. I’m always going to be Roman Reigns and I don’t want to ever have to choose.”

On WWE TV, Reigns has found himself embroiled in a feud with Bronson Reed and a match between the two will happen at Clash in Paris. Whatever comes next, expect the OTC to show his talent and charisma, both in and out of the ring.

They were featured in a “Peace Treaty” segment on the go-home show for the recent Heatwave premium live event. At that PLE, they scored a mixed tag team match win.

Mike Aiello, a creative director at Universal Studios, shared that the experience will feature a never-before-heard version of the faction’s theme song ‘Shatter.’

It’s actually one of the last things you’ll hear as you’re going through the final room of the experience. We were blessed—Jamie Morgan came to the table and said, ‘Hey, here’s this version of the theme that has never been heard.‘”

Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Match Set For AEW All Out

0

A dream tag team match has been officially announced for the upcoming AEW All Out pay-per-view. On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland revealed that he will team up with Christian Cage, to take on FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).

The announcement came after a chaotic opening to tonight’s show from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The broadcast began with FTR and their manager, Stokely Hathaway, in the ring, berating referee Paul Turner for the time-limit draw in their recent Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament final.

When Turner refused to reverse his decision, FTR got physical with him. This led to the arrival of Adam Copeland, who has been feuding with FTR for months. Christian Cage then appeared from the crowd, and the two men stormed the ring to brawl with Harwood and Wheeler.

After officials and security finally separated the four men, Copeland grabbed a microphone and made the match official for the All Out pay-per-view, which will take place in Cage’s hometown of Toronto.

The feud between Copeland and FTR has been a central storyline in AEW for months. Copeland and Cage recently teamed up at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view to defeat the team of Kip Sabian and Killswitch.

The dream tag team match is the first official bout announced for the AEW All Out pay-per-view, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event will be going head-to-head with WWE’s Wrestlepalooza PLE on the same night.

DDP Undergoes Heart Procedure After Health Scare

0

WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page has shared a health update with his fans, revealing that he recently underwent a cardioversion medical procedure after going into Atrial fibrillation (AFib).

In a post on social media, the 69-year-old legend detailed the recent health scare, which he said occurred while he was working out without his heart monitor.

“Last week, I went into AFib. I normally wear a heart monitor when training, but for some reason didn’t this day. I pushed myself too hard, felt ‘off’, dizzy, and heart racing… and well, here we are…” Page wrote.
