John Cena Awarded Guinness World Record No Wrestler Should Want

0

John Cena made history at WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto 2025 in more ways than one. The 16-time world champion not only secured a WrestleMania 41 title shot but also shocked the WWE Universe by turning heel after more than two decades as the company’s ultimate “face.” His transformation was so unprecedented that Guinness World Records recognized him for the “longest WWE Face run before turning heel,” cementing his legacy in professional wrestling history.

Cena’s career has been one of the most influential in WWE, defined by his unparalleled work ethic, mainstream appeal, and connection with fans. Since debuting in 2002, he became the face of the company, headlining WrestleMania and winning multiple world championships.

His “Never Give Up” mantra and philanthropy—including holding the Guinness World Record for most Make-A-Wish Foundation wishes granted—made him a role model to millions. His status as WWE’s leading hero lasted longer than any other top star, making his eventual betrayal even more impactful.

John Cena Sells Out

At Elimination Chamber, Cena battled five of WWE’s top superstars—CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest—in a grueling match. The final showdown saw Cena and Punk reignite their storied rivalry, with Cena forcing Punk to tap out to the STF at the 32:40 mark. The victory secured Cena a championship match at WrestleMania 41 against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

However, the celebration was short-lived. As Rhodes entered the ring to acknowledge his new challenger, The Rock made his way down the ramp, awaiting Rhodes’ response to a prior ultimatum. Rhodes rejected The Rock’s offer, and just when it seemed Cena was siding with the champion, he struck. With a thunderous Attitude Adjustment, Cena left Rhodes laid out, holding the WWE Championship high as The Rock watched in approval.

Cena’s shocking transformation marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter. His heel turn proved that, even after two decades, he remains one of the most compelling figures in WWE history.

‘He Brought Light’ – Jey Uso Discusses Sami Zayn’s Contribution To Bloodline Story

0

Jey Uso says The Bloodline’s chemistry with Sami Zayn was real.

The Honorary Uce added a whole new dimension to the Bloodline story when he joined the faction. What was a very serious group till that point, became one of the funniest acts in all of wrestling without losing any significance. Many believe that with his work, Zayn saved the Bloodline story by stopping it from going stale.

The 2025 Royal Rumble winner was asked about Sami’s contributions to the group in a new interview with Shak Wrestling. Jey Uso noted how Zayn brought a ‘whole different genre’ to the Bloodline story:

“Man, he brought a different…cuz everyone’s so serious, right? He brought just a whole different genre. He brought light, he brought fun to us, man. Comedy to us. He just switched the whole narrative, man, and it just worked.

Every week we didn’t know what we was doing. It was the week, the day of. All right, what did we do last week? What do we need to do tonight? That’s how we would do our segments or whatever, sitting in the room with Paul Heyman, Triple H, like the masterminds and we just cook it up, man.”

All That Was Real: Jey Uso

The chemistry between Sami Zayn and all other members of The Bloodline was different than anything seen on wrestling TV before. With his incredible character work, the Underdog from The Underground was able to make people laugh while also developing a persona at the same time that people could get behind as a serious world title contender.

Jey Uso claimed that they wouldn’t be Bloodline without the contributions of the former NXT Champion. He noted how the backstage segments where Zayn made everyone break characters was very reminiscent of their friendship in real life:

“He literally added extra chapters to the Bloodline Uce, you know? We wouldn’t be Bloodline without Sami Zayn, man. And I loved it, man. He brought some of the best segments out, Uce. You know how he just made us laugh on TV. All that was real. All of it was real.

Live TV, can’t. Half the backstages, man, I’m trying to cover up my face cuz I can’t stop laughing. Man. It’s like all right, we’re three, two, one, like we’re going. We’re going live and then I’m like ‘Don’t make me laugh, Uce, please don’t make me laugh.’ We was just trying to pop each other the whole time.”

John Cena Advertised For Three More WWE Events

0

Days removed from John Cena’s epic heel turn, WWE has announced the former WWE Champion for three new dates.

Cena is currently advertised to appear on SmackDown on May 30th in Knoxville, Tennessee, June 13th in Lexington, Kentucky, and June 20th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. WWE has yet to announce any dark matches for those shows.

After Cody Rhodes rejected The Rock’s offer of an alliance at Elimination Chamber, The Rock unveiled a new strategy: Cena as his chosen champion. Cena attacked Rhodes.

This threw gas on the fire for the build to their match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Known for his cryptic social media presence, Cena posted a telling image on both Instagram and Twitter: Harvey Dent from “The Dark Knight,” accompanied by the quote, “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

This imagery, referencing Dent’s transformation from prosecutor to criminal, suggests a shift in The Rock’s own persona. Complementing this, Cena also shared a more direct message on Twitter: “Have the discipline to do what needs to be done, especially when you don’t feel like it.”

Cena is not scheduled to appear on the next two episodes of Raw. Following Elimination Chamber, The Rock disclosed that Cena had traveled from Budapest to Toronto for the event and then immediately departed for Africa. Despite his ongoing film commitments, which contribute to the winding down of his WWE career, Cena is advertised for Raw appearances on March 17th, 24th, and 31st.

TKO Group and Saudi Arabia Collaborate on New Boxing Promotion Launching in 2026

0

TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC, has announced a multi-year agreement with Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority to establish a new boxing promotion. This venture will be co-managed by UFC CEO Dana White and WWE President Nick Khan, with the inaugural event scheduled for 2026.

The partnership will involve collaboration with Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, and Sela, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to invest heavily in global sports, aligning with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 project, which aims to modernize the nation’s society and economy.

“This landmark partnership between industry powerhouses sets the stage for an unparalleled experience for boxers and fans, ” said HE Turki Alalshikh. “Together, we are developing the next generation of talent and delivering world-class events at a time when the sport is primed for further disruption.”

Mark Shapiro, President and COO of TKO, also expressed excitement at this push into professional boxing.

“This is a strategic opportunity to reimagine the sport of boxing globally. TKO has the deep expertise, promotional prowess, and longstanding relationships. HE Turki Alalshikh and Sela share our passion and vision for evolving the current model. Together, we can bring the sweet science back to its rightful place in the forefront of the global sports ecosystem.”

Saudi Arabia has been actively expanding its presence in the sports world, hosting events such as Formula 1 races, funding LIV Golf, organizing high-profile boxing matches, maintaining a decade-long partnership with WWE, and securing the rights to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

However, these efforts have attracted criticism from those who view them as attempts to improve the country’s international image amid ongoing concerns about its human rights record.

TKO Group Holdings, formed in September 2023 through the merger of WWE and UFC under the umbrella of Endeavor Group Holdings, continues to expand its influence in the global sports and entertainment industry with this latest venture.

AJ Styles Says One Of His Most Famous Matches Was Ad Libed After Missed Spot

0

AJ Styles believes one of his best performances could have been ‘really good’ instead of being just good.

The Unbreakable 2005 Triple Threat between Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels is considered one of the best three-way matches ever put together in wrestling. It’s one of the first bouts of its kind that received a 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer and the recently retired Christopher Daniels has named it a moment he’d like to be remembered for.

The Phenomenal One opened up about this match during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet. He noted how all three of them knew each other very well as they had been in the ring with each other many times. According to AJ Styles, however, the bout that lasted about 23 minutes did not reach its full potential because they messed up a spot:

“It could have been better. We went home way earlier than we were supposed to. We got mixed up in a spot. Joe did something. I was like, Wait, are we supposed to be going here? Nope, bam. We did it anyway. So we ad-libbed a good 10 minutes of that match. All that at the end is totally ad-libbed. Thank God, we knew each other so well, because we could just communicate and get to where we needed to be. So it could have been really good. It was just good.”

Apart from this, AJ Styles also talked about other moments from his TNA career and discussed the company bringing in Hulk Hogan to grow the promotion. The move ultimately proved to be a costly mistake leading to Styles’ own exit from TNA in 2014. You can check out AJ’s thoughts on the matter here.

Decoding Cena’s Heel Turn: The Psychology Behind the Betrayal

John Cena’s shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber left the WWE Universe reeling. After years as the company’s ultimate good guy, his attack on Cody Rhodes and alliance with The Rock signaled a dramatic character shift.

His cryptic tweets offer our first glimpse into this new persona. Cena’s first post-betrayal tweet revealed a coldly pragmatic mindset:

“Have the discipline to do what needs to be done, especially when you don’t feel like it.”

This suggests his heel character views betrayal as a necessary discipline—something he didn’t want to do but felt compelled to execute regardless of emotional cost. His follow-up tweet doubles down on this calculating approach:

“How others respond to us tends to say a whole lot more about them than it does about us. Evaluate it and don’t take it personal.”

Here, Cena positions himself above the emotional reactions of fans and fellow wrestlers, analyzing their responses with detached curiosity.

John Cena’s Heel Character

John Cena Attacks Cody Rhodes

Together, these messages paint a picture of Cena’s new character as:

  • A ruthless pragmatist who prioritizes “necessary” actions over loyalty
  • Someone who frames betrayal as discipline rather than malice
  • A manipulator who believes he can read others’ true motivations
  • A character who distances himself from emotional consequences through clinical analysis

His motives likely center around a twisted sense of duty to wrestling itself. The “discipline” reference suggests he sees attacking Rhodes as a correction to WWE’s current trajectory—something that “needed to be done” for the greater good as he defines it.

What Cena wants isn’t just championships but validation that his vision of wrestling—forged through two decades of experience—is the correct one. His alignment with The Rock suggests a belief that only those who’ve reached their level truly understand what tough decisions the business requires.

As WrestleMania approaches, expect Cena to continue justifying his actions as necessary discipline while portraying fans’ disappointment as merely revealing their own limitations—not a reflection of his betrayal.

Justin Trudeau Talks Booing of US National Anthem After Elimination Chamber

0

Justin Trudeau has seemingly acknowledged the events of the Elimination Chamber.

Tensions have grown exponentially between countries of Canada and the US in weeks since Donald Trump took oath as the 47th president of the United States in January. Adhering to his campaign promises, the business mogul has imposed tariffs on various imports from Canada and Mexico, while also repeatedly making calls for Canada to become the 51st state of America.

The people of Canada have not taken these threats lightly and have started protesting against Trump’s intimidation tactics in various ways. One of the ways people of the country have shown their objection is by booing at the US National Anthem during various sporting events. This includes recent US-Canada match in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off tournament and the Elimination Chamber PPV from Toronto.

The Canadian Prime Minister who has repeatedly been called the ‘governor of Canada’ by Trump addressed the recent moves of their long-term ally on Tuesday. During the speech, Justin Trudeau acknowledged his people booing the American anthem saying that it’s a protest against the policies and not the people:

“We’re probably going to keep booing the American anthem, but let me tell Americans, we’re not booing you, we’re not booing your teams, we’re not booing your players. We’re booing a policy that is designed to hurt us. And we’re insulted, and we’re angry, but we’re Canadian. Which means we’re going to stand up for each other, we’re going to fight, and we’re going to win.”

Trudeau also said Canadians are hurt and angry at being dragged into this trade war. He urged his people not to go on vacation in the US and to buy Canadian products as much as possible instead of goods from America.

WWE’s Pat McAfee had addressed the incidents on his show as well. After previously lashing out at the people of Canada, he defended his remarks saying that he loves his country. You can check out what he said here.

Wrestlers Dazzle The Red Carpet At ‘Queen Of The Ring’ Premiere

0

The world of pro wrestling was fully on display at the movie premiere for Queen of the Ring, the new biopic about the life and career of Mildred Burke. At the New York City premiere, AEW’s Prince Nana, Queen Aminata, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, Skye Blue, Deonna Purrazzo, and Julia Hart were all dressed to impress.

It wasn’t just AEW talent who were in attendance for the big event. WWE Superstars Jimmy Uso and Naomi also dazzled on the red carpet. Naomi donned a neck brace, selling the attack she received at Elimination Chamber: Toronto by Jade Cargill.

Queen of the Ring tells the story of Burke, one of the pioneers of women’s wrestling, as played by Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow.) The film also features plenty of genuine in-ring talent, including Naomi as Ethel Johnson, the first African-American Women’s Champion. AEW’s Kamille is in the film as June Byers, an adversary of Burke, while ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm portrays Clara Mortensen. Britt Baker is Debbie Nichols in the film while Jim Cornette will portray an NWA commissioner.

Burke’s story is an exciting mix of highs and lows at a time when women’s wrestling (then known as ‘Girl Wrestling’) was not the attraction it has become in the modern-day. With Burke’s legacy continuing long after her death, Queen of the Ring is set to wow fans when it releases in March 2025.

WWE, UFC & The Rock Named in Bizarre Lawsuit Alleging Corruption

0

A bizarre lawsuit has been filed against WWE, UFC, TKO Group Holdings, and even The Rock, alleging everything from corruption and conspiracy to unauthorized medical experimentation. Lius Danny Soto filed the 12-page lawsuit in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, accusing Endeavor, IMG, WWE, UFC, Seven Bucks Productions, Dana White, and several others. Soto is alleging harassment, bribery, illegal medical testing, and even political corruption.

Allegations Against WWE, UFC & TKO

Soto’s lawsuit claims that WWE has a long history of corruption, alleging that the company has bribed judges, prosecutors, and lawmakers in Connecticut, New York, Florida, and Georgia. He further argues that WWE’s sale to Endeavor and its merger with UFC into TKO Group Holdings were orchestrated to “circumvent liability laws in the Atlantic States.”

He also claims that executives and performers from WWE and UFC have harassed, stalked, and threatened him. Soto even claims that a “black market” exists within both companies for drug distribution, political fundraising, and exploitation.

Claims Of Medical Experimentation

Soto’s accusation includes stating that he was subjected to virtual medical patient simulators and anthropomorphic test devices. This allegedly resulted in seizures, convulsions, and pain. He further alleges that medical equipment—intended for treating mental disorders common among drug abusers—was secretly installed in his home and used on him without his permission.

“Without consent or knowledge, equipment was installed in my home that is used to treat mental disorders common among drug abusers. This equipment was used on me without my consent.”

Soto also asserts that WWE, UFC, and Seven Bucks Productions allowed politicians and law enforcement. Soto adds that President Donald Trump and his family used the equipment against him and that executives have bribed politicians to avoid legal consequences.

Foul Odor Detected

Soto alleges that female employees used gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technology to release foul odors in his presence to cause stress and embarrassment. He adds that AI-generated videos have been created by the accused to frame him for illegal activities.

Despite these shocking accusations, there is currently no documented evidence supporting Soto’s claims. He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, lost wages, and legal fees, and has requested a jury trial. With no defendants having been served yet, it remains to be seen whether this lawsuit will gain any traction.

Carmella Warns Against ‘Assumptions’ On WWE Exit After Viral Clip

0

Carmella has warned people not to make assumptions about her exit from WWE and only make judgement after knowing all the details.

A preview clip of the female star’s upcoming interview went viral on social media early on Tuesday with the edit making it seem like the former champion was really bitter about the end of her WWE run.

The Staten Island Princess however, made a tweet later in the day claiming that people should not make assumptions about her feelings before getting the chance to listen to the full conversation:

“All I have to say is, before you make assumptions/judgements, make sure you listen to the full conversation. Then let me know what you think.”

Carmella’s WWE run came to an unceremonious end this month after 12 years when her contract with the company expired and the officials chose not to renew the deal.

The former SmackDown Women’s Champion had already been off road for a couple years due to her pregnancy and subsequent health issues, so she did not get the chance to say goodbye to fans with a final match before her departure.

Her husband Corey Graves continues to be part of the WWE roster currently serving as an NXT commentator. Though his standing in the company seems to have been affected by a recent social media outburst, after which the promotion has snubbed him from main roster appearances even when the opportunity araised.

It’s unknown if Carmella is planning an in-ring return outside of WWE but we should get a better idea when her full interview drops on Thursday. Stay tuned to SEScoops for a comprehensive coverage of the same.

WWE 2K25 Gameplay Producer Addresses Possible TNA Inclusion

0

WWE 2K25 is mere days away from launching, and fans are speculating whether TNA Wrestling could be making its way into the game. With the multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA going strong, the idea of TNA talent and arenas being a part of WWE 2K25 appears a genuine possibility.

Bryan Williams, WWE 2K25 Gameplay Producer, recently addressed the matter in an interview with Restart. While he didn’t confirm anything, he acknowledged that discussions are taking place.

“It’s something that we’re all excited about—the potential of maybe one day incorporating TNA into our game. But as of today, as I’m talking to you right now, we’re just still discussing things.”

Williams said that the developers are in a “wait-and-see” moment, and acknowledged that this “is not the greatest answer.” Nevertheless, he, like fans, is excited at the prospect of TNA talent joining WWE 2K25.

TNA Wrestling has a history in video games, but its only major console release was TNA iMPACT! in 2008. Since then, the promotion has only had mobile and handheld adaptations, leaving fans eager for a proper return to consoles.

With Joe Hendry potentially being teased as DLC, it appears that TNA could appear in WWE 2K25 afterall, but nothing has been confirmed. With over 300 playable characters confirmed, the game will be a massive project, one that could grow even bigger with the inclusion of TNA Wrestling.

WWE 2K25 will be released on March 14, with the Bloodline and Deadman Editions releasing on March 7.

Cora Jade Says She Got ‘Rocked’ on NXT But Her Knees Are Fine

0

NXT star Cora Jade is not going to miss any significant ring time after an injury scare on this week’s WWE NXT.

Jade’s match against Jordynne Grace was stopped early due, with Grace declared the winner, due to her being unable to continue. The incident scare occurred when Jade was backed into the corner by Grace. She communicated with the referee, who immediately indicated there was a legitimate injury.

She was tended to by WWE officials and medical staff and the show went to commercial break. When the broadcast returned from commercial, the NXT Arena was silent, and it was clear this was not part of the scripted show.

After the show, Jade checked in with a tweet explaining that she got “rocked for a sec,” but did not suffer another knee injury despite initial fears. She thanked fans for their concern, and will likely be undergoing concussion protocol testing.

A video of the spot right before the match stopped makes it seem like Jade hit her head on the turnbuckle. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also confirmed that Cora’s injury was related to her head:

Shawn Spears Wins WWE NXT North American Championship

0

The March 4 episode of WWE NXT was a packed show that ended with a huge title change. In the main event of the evening, Shawn Spears won the NXT North American Championship, his first title in WWE.

Taking on Tony D’Angelo, the match had a big-fight feel, amplified by Lilian Garcia’s standout introductions. As the contest progressed, there were several near falls, with the NXT Arena firmly behind “The Don of NXT.” Going into the match, there were concerns within the Family about D’Angelo’s physical condition. The final saw D’Angelo attempt a move but is back gave out, allowing Spears to capitalize and score the pinfall.

D’Angelo had been the NXT North American Champion since the October 8 episode of NXT in Saint Louis at The Factory, where he dethroned Oba Femi. His reign had seen him retain against the likes of Ridge Holland, Ethan Page, and Brooks Jensen.

This win marks Spears’ first championship on WWE programming, which has been a long time coming given that he first signed with WWE back in 2006. This victory adds Spears’ name to the list of AEW alum to have won championships in WWE, joining the likes of Lexis King, Jade Cargill, Ethan Page, and Cody Rhodes.

It remains to be seen what the future looks like for Spears as Champion, but with his dark faction at his side, it may be a long time before anyone takes the gold from the Chair-man of NXT.

Carmella Says WWE ‘Ghosted’ Her, Felt Punished for Having a Baby

Former WWE star Carmella (Leah Van Dale) opened up about her departure from the company, revealing she felt “punished” for having a baby and that WWE cut ties with her without much notice.

Carmella’s contract recently expired, marking the end of her 12-year tenure with WWE. She has not wrestled since March 2023 due to dealing with drop foot after giving birth. Speaking on the Barely Famous Podcast, she expressed frustration over how things ended.

“…What’s next for Leah? For so long, it’s like, ‘Oh, Carmella.’ It’s like, no,” she said. “I can now fully be Leah and do what I want to do, and I don’t know what that is.”

Carmella acknowledged she had been sidelined for nearly two years but said it wasn’t her choice.

“That’s the whole point, to get people talking and to be bold, in your face,” she said. “Let’s talk about it. Let’s have the conversations that women aren’t having. Is it because I’m a woman? Is it because I had a baby? It just feels like a shitty way to end a 12-year career with the company, that this is how it ended.”

She also pointed out the contrast between her situation and that of her husband, WWE commentator Corey Graves.

“[Corey Graves] still has a job. We had a kid, and he had a job, but I don’t. I mean, I guess fast forward until a few weeks ago and I got a call saying that my contract was up in ten days.

[Everyone] ghosted. Completely ghosted. What if this is the end of my career? What am I doing with my life, what do I have to offer? Why wasn’t I given an opportunity somewhere else?”

When asked if it was bittersweet that many of her colleagues remained in WWE, she admitted feeling like she was penalized for becoming a mother.

“I feel like I’m being punished because I had a baby,” she said.

While some speculated WWE could change its stance, Carmella was clear in her response.

“Why would you want to be somewhere that doesn’t want you? I wish more for women in general and moms and especially athletes. You shouldn’t have to choose one. Why can’t you have both?”

The full interview will be available on March 7.

Reason For Jamie Hayter’s AEW Absence Revealed

0

AEW fans have been wondering where Jamie Hayter has been as of late after missing time on AEW TV.

Hayter’s return to AEW at All In, where she interrupted a segment involving Saraya and the Knight Family, marked a significant moment after a year-long absence due to injury. In an interview with Renee Paquette, Hayter revealed she had been dealing with two severely herniated discs in her back.

It was an injury she wasn’t aware of until she experienced debilitating mobility issues. Just days after All In, Hayter resumed in-ring competition on the Dynamite following All Out, defeating Harley Cameron in a singles match. Hayter was quick to confirm the news on social media.

She wrote, “I’ll save you all the cash and the concern, just getting a new visa, no big deal, no issues. Cheers!”

Her most recent AEW match took place on January 22nd, where she defeated Julia Hart. Notably, Corey Brennan of Fightful Select reported that on February 11th, Hayter was backstage at the RIOT Cabaret Slamma Mia: Here We Go Again event in the UK, rather than at Dynamite.

This followed her in-ring appearance on February 7th, where she defeated Alex Windsor at EVE 131: Multiverse Rumble in London.

Update On WWE’s Saudi Arabia 2025 Plans

0

WWE’s lucrative 10-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority, which sees them host two annual events in Saudi Arabia for substantial financial compensation, is undergoing significant changes for 2025.

Based on SES reports, WWE reportedly earns $50 million per show in the country. In 2024, WWE began taping SmackDown and Raw events there, and with the new Netflix deal, Raw will now be broadcast live from Saudi Arabia.

In a landmark announcement earlier this year, WWE confirmed that the 2026 Royal Rumble will be held in Riyadh, marking the first time the event will take place outside North America. This has fueled speculation that a Saudi Arabian WrestleMania is inevitable. For now, it’s not in the immediate cards.

However, despite the increased activity planned for 2026, including the Royal Rumble, reports from Fightful Select and PWInsider.com indicate that WWE is currently scheduled for only one event in Saudi Arabia in 2025.

Per Fightful, this event is targeted for June in Jeddah, a location WWE hasn’t visited in June since 2019’s Super Showdown. If confirmed, this would be the first year with only one Saudi Arabian event since the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.

PWInsider added that the scheduling and planning for this sole 2025 event are currently in progress.

With just a month to go until WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, WWE’s biggest event of the year is already generating significant buzz. Mark Shapiro, President and C.O.O. of TKO Group Holdings, spoke about the upcoming spectacle during an appearance at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

Shapiro discussed John Cena’s recent heel turn at Elimination Chamber and praised WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and his creative team. He emphasized the growing mainstream impact of WWE, citing the viral moment involving The Rock, Cena, and Cody Rhodes.

“I’ll tell you this though, when you’re front page on the ESPN app, you’re above the fold, and that video of The Rock and Cena and Cody, you’re now making more of a cultural impact than you have historically,” Shapiro stated.

“Especially when it’s a competitor that carries the events, so I was excited to see that… Paul and his creative team are second to none.”

He went on to tease major surprises at WrestleMania 41 but remained tight-lipped about specific details.

“You’ll be amazed at the surprises that are about to come your way in Las Vegas,” he said. “I can’t give away any plotlines. I wouldn’t make it off this stage. Somebody from Paul’s team would be here to knock me out.”

Shapiro also highlighted the significance of WrestleMania as a major business opportunity.

“Vegas is gonna be incredible. The whole weekend is just gonna be a spectacle.

In the same way or the same vein the Sphere was a spectacle for the UFC and 306, it’s gonna be a great story for us and always a great time to be negotiating new deals.”

Current WrestleMania 41 Match Card

  • WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Triple H has shared backstage footage immediately following the shocking conclusion of Saturday’s WWE Elimination Chamber event from Toronto. The video gives WWE fans an inside look at Triple H, Travis Scott and The Rock’s reactions to one of the biggest moments in WWE history.

The dramatic closing segment of the PLE saw Cena align with The Rock and Scott to attack Cody Rhodes, leaving fans in disbelief. The newly released footage, shared by Triple H, captures Rock and Scott returning backstage, with an enthusiastic Scott reflecting on the moment.

Scott expressed his excitement, saying he was “already hooked” after the segment and even joked about building wrestling rings in all his homes.

Reports have since indicated that Scott has been training in the ring, hinting at a potential WWE in-ring debut.

Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes reportedly sustained a busted eardrum and a black eye following the attack.

WWE Superstar Natalya, one of the most tenured performers on the roster, is stepping into NWA territory. The National Wrestling Alliance has officially announced that the Queen of Harts will be competing at Crockett Cup 2025, marking her first-ever appearance inside an NWA ring.

The Crockett Cup, one of the most storied tag team tournaments in wrestling history, is set to take place on May 17th at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. However, the biggest surprise came when NWA revealed that Natalya would be in action. Though specifics about her role remain unclear, it has been confirmed that the former SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The Crockett Cup isn’t the only place outside WWE that fans will get to see Natalya in action. News of her NWA debut comes shortly after it was confirmed that Natalya will compete at Bloodsport XIII next month. The violent worked-shoot promotion has featured WWE talent in recent years and now Natalya is ready to prove how tough she is.

Natalya re-signed with WWE in 2024, ensuring that fans will see her compete for the promotion for years to come. Thanks to WWE’s current administration, however, the Queen of Harts will now have the chance to prove herself outside the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

Robert Stone Brings His Indie Wrestling Insight To WWE Evolve (Exclusive)

Robert Stone’s surname may indicate something different but the NXT talent has shown he can be malleable in the world of pro wrestling.

Stone has been a presence on NXT for years, most recently as Ava’s assistant, but this Wednesday he’ll be donning a new role as color commentator for WWE Evolve, a show that will feature WWE developmental talent going up against top independent wrestling stars who are tagged by the WWE ID program.

It’s been a groundswell greatly orchestrated under the experienced eye of Gabe Sapoulsky, whose wrestling mind roots stem all the way back to ECW and Paul Heyman. However, like most in wrestling, Gabe found his own route to WWE by working with Ring of Honor venturing to Dragon-Gate before forming the original Evolve. All that required him to be well-versed on the independent wrestling scene and his big payoff begins this Wednesday on Tubi. He decided to have Stone be one half of his team to call the action, and there may be no better choice.

Speaking with me ahead of Wednesday, Stone said with all that indy experience behind him, he is confident in what he’ll be able to do behind the broadcast booth alongside Peter Rosenberg, who will be doing the play-by-play.

Before heading to WWE, Stone was most notably known for his time as Robbie E in TNA, but before that he spent over a decade in the indies, even naming the WWE ID associate promotion out of Pittsburgh, International Wrestling Cartel (IWC).

“Back in [2002]…I fought a guy named Dennis Gregory,” Stone quipped after the promotion was brought up (serendipitously enough, Gregory actually wrestled on the latest IWC PPV, Civil War this past month).

Peter Rosenberg & Robert Stone: The Next Talked About Tandem?

The pairing of Peter and Stone feels like a savvy move on Sapoulsky’s part as both personalities have a wide range of experience in very different, yet similar realms.

“It’ll be different,” Stone added with excitement, noting his dynamic with Rosenberg will be a fun one. Rosenberg’s professional experience comes with a diverse radio background outside of wrestling (hip hop and ESPN Radio) and Stone thinks that will greatly make the Evolve product stand out. He thinks Peter will bring the passionate fan’s perspective while he’ll be able to give his insight on how life on the indies affects these aspiring WWE Superstars.

WWE ID Has Future Names To Watch Out For

Stone assured he is all studied up for his new gig too. Speaking on names like Sean Legacy, noting of the independent star’s vast travel schedule which includes several stops overseas. Stone noted that Sam “Hardway” Holloway, a massively athletic WWE ID prospect hailing from Cleveland, OH, charges up memories of a late great ECW legend.

“He reminds me of Mike Awesome,” Stone said.  Holloway’s nickname is “Hardway” and Stone recalled back to when he saw Sam work at the WWE Performance Center. Holloway legitimately busted himself open during the training so the “Hardway” moniker wasn’t shocking to him.

However, what did shock him was John Cena on Saturday at Elimination Chamber. Like we all were, Stone was watching at home and saw John go full Manchurian Candidate, aligning with The Rock. This brought his thoughts back to Evolve and how perfect of a time it is to be a fan.

Who Stone is a fan of is Shawn Michaels. HBK is another legend that brings the experience with Robert reiterating that Michaels worked in the 80s, 90s, and beyond. Robert thinks Shawn brings that knowledge but understands how it plays in the modern pro wrestling landscape.

Stone may be inspired by Michaels, but was he inspired by anybody when it comes to how he’ll handle himself on the call? Again with confidence, Stone said he isn’t influenced by other commentators, be it in wrestling or other sports. He’s focused on being the best version of himself on the headset and wanting to provide knowledge to the view. It’s all about being malleable.

MJF Claims Historic Wrestling Contract, Knows When He’ll Retire

0

MJF has made it clear for years that he is “Better Than You,” but the longest reigning AEW World Champion is also richer too. Speaking on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina, MJF claimed the AEW contract he signed in 2024 makes him one of the highest-paid wrestlers in the industry. Though he didn’t give an exact figure, he claimed that reports of $15 million per year were “a little light.”

“I won the bidding war. WWE didn’t win the bidding war. AEW didn’t win the bidding war. I won the bidding war.”

MJF will be “absurdly young and making an absurd amount of money again” by the time his current contract is up. At just 28 years old, MJF has already built an impressive resume which includes a reign as AEW International Champion.

“The amount of money I get by the time [the AEW contract] is over, far surpasses $15 million. I’m making top guy money.”

Despite his considerable success in the ring, MJF shared that he has a “hard out” for his full-time career. Coy as always, MJF didn’t disclose an exact age, but teased that it begins with a four.

“I have an age where I have a definitive out. That doesn’t mean I can’t come back to pop a crowd, sell some tickets, and sell some merch. But I won’t be on weekly TV forever.”

If MJF’s ‘four’ comment is honest, then fans can expect at least another dozen years of MJF as a regular on programming. With the Devil already building a Hall of Fame-worthy resume, with record-setting title reigns and major rivalries, fans are excited to see what’s to come for the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in the future.

MJF: Adam Sandler Personally Picked Me for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

0

MJF’s Hollywood star is on the rise, thanks to his upcoming role in Netflix’s much-anticipated Happy Gilmore 2. Speaking on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, the AEW star revealed that Adam Sandler himself selected him for a key role after watching his audition.

“Adam Sandler saw my audition and was apparently laughing like a hyena. Then he said, ‘I want this guy,’ and I got the role. And it’s a big one.”

MJF didn’t share specific details about his character but confirmed he has significant screen time in the sequel to the 1996 comedy classic. With fans waiting decades to see what the titular Happy Gilmore (Sandler) has been up to, the movie is expected to be a major blockbuster.

Happy Gilmore 2 will mark another big step for MJF in acting and comes after he served as an executive producer on The Iron Claw. On the podcast, the former AEW World Champion made clear that Hollywood is a major part of his future and is pleased his wrestling contract allows him the freedom to pursue acting projects.

“Tony Khan is a mark, but he’s not a dumb mark. The bigger I build my name, the more people search ‘MJF AEW.’ That helps everybody.”

Deadline reported  in a February 2025 report that the movie is slated to premiere on Netflix on July 25, 2025, though this date has not been confirmed by Netflix or Sandler himself. Whenever Happy Gilmore 2 hits screens, fans will get the chance to see MJF flex his acting muscles out of the ring.
