Cody Rhodes and Damian Priest Reveal How WWE Became More of a ‘Team’ Under Triple H

0

WWE Superstars Cody Rhodes and Damian Priest discussed the significant cultural shift within WWE during their June 11, 2025 conversation on Rhodes’ podcast “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” revealing how the company has transformed into more of a “team” environment under Triple H’s leadership.

Rhodes, who has experienced WWE during different eras, emphasized how dramatically the backstage atmosphere has changed compared to his previous run with the company.

“WWE, now more than ever, is a team. And I never felt that in any wrestling company, even when I was with WWE, my first run, I never felt like, hey, we’re a team.”

The conversation highlighted how both wrestlers have adopted a philosophy of treating everyone with respect regardless of their position on the call sheet. Rhodes detailed his approach to creating an inclusive environment at his wrestling school, the Nightmare Factory.

“I always tell everybody, I’m like, cool, treat everybody in here like they’re that person… when we leave here, that doesn’t matter. That rule is not in effect.”

Both wrestlers reflected on how treatment of talent has evolved, with Rhodes sharing his memories of how people would treat wrestlers differently based on their perceived status during less successful periods.

“During the undesirable phase… how people would treat you in the office, how they would treat you in the locker room… You remember the ones who treated you differently.”

Priest agreed with Rhodes’ assessment, noting how the current environment allows for better collaboration and mutual support among the roster. The discussion suggests that Triple H’s leadership style has created a more cohesive and supportive workplace culture that benefits both talent development and overall company morale.

Chelsea Green Sets Sights on Hollywood: ‘I Want to Be the Crossover Talent for Females’

0

WWE’s Chelsea Green has revealed ambitious plans to become professional wrestling’s first major female crossover star in Hollywood, outlining her entertainment industry goals during an extensive interview on the Lightweights Podcast with host Joe Vulpis.

The charismatic superstar expressed her desire to follow in the footsteps of John Cena and The Rock, but specifically pave the way for women wrestlers in mainstream entertainment.

“In the next five five years I hope to be the first female John Cena and rock not in terms of I don’t need to be that high like that’s that’s pretty incredible right but like I would like to be the crossover talent for the females cuz we haven’t really seen that yet.”

Green acknowledged that while the Bella Twins successfully crossed over into reality television and entrepreneurship, no female wrestler has achieved significant Hollywood success.

“We saw the Bellas obviously cross over between WWE and reality TV WWE and entrepreneurship i think they’ve done amazing with that right but like I don’t think we’ve truly seen a a woman cross over and do WWE and Hollywood yet.”

From Ring to Screen

The former U.S. Women’s Champion envisions wrestling becoming just one chapter in her broader entertainment career, with acting becoming her primary focus.

“I would love to get into acting and like wrestling was just like a small part of my story by the time I’m 50.”

Green has already begun preparing for this transition by taking acting classes and studying performances through a different lens, recognizing the skills developed in wrestling that translate to dramatic work. Her involvement in the upcoming Netflix project “Unreal” could serve as a stepping stone toward her Hollywood ambitions.

The determined performer’s willingness to say yes to every WWE opportunity demonstrates her commitment to building the profile necessary for successful crossover appeal.

Chelsea Green Spills Details on Upcoming Netflix’s WWE Unreal

0

WWE superstar Chelsea Green has provided new insights into the highly anticipated Netflix collaboration “Unreal,” revealing her involvement in the behind-the-scenes project during a candid interview on the Lightweights Podcast with host Joe Vulpis.

The inaugural U.S. Women’s Champion confirmed her participation in the streaming series while discussing her championship win celebrations, noting the timing coincided perfectly with Netflix’s filming schedule.

“We’ve got a show coming out with like all behind the scenes stuff so we’ve been doing a lot of filming with them so it was just like go go go i did all my kind of wrap-up videos with them holding the belt having that moment you know hugging my family.”

Green’s Candid Revelations

Green admitted uncertainty about the show’s scope and her role within the production, displaying characteristic honesty about WWE’s typically secretive approach to media projects.

“I only know what I’ve filmed i don’t know who else has filmed everyone at WWE is so like tight lipped and I’m not so I’m out there being like ‘Woo Netflix what’s up?’ And everyone at work isn’t telling me that they’re also filming it so honestly could be all about me could be about a hundred different superstars and I’m in five minutes of it.”

The outspoken wrestler acknowledged that Netflix and other production partners have noted her tendency to over-share, requiring careful editing of her contributions.

“One thing that I do know that Netflix and ESPN and and Omaha has told me is that like I definitely do blab a lot so they have to edit me down.”

While official details remain limited, Green’s involvement suggests “Unreal” will offer unprecedented access to WWE’s behind-the-scenes operations, potentially featuring multiple superstars navigating their professional and personal lives.

Matt Riddle Believes In Rumors of Power Struggle Within WWE

0

Matt Riddle believes in the stories of a WWE power struggle.

Former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman was the first to suggest that a power struggle is brewing within the company during an appearance on Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast. He even went as far as to suggest that the current Chief Content Officer Triple H would be ousted from his role within the next 18 months.

The Superking of Bros was asked for his opinion on the matter during his interview with Going Ringside. Matt Riddle said that he believes in the stories. He mentioned how a number of executives have sold their TKO shares in large quantities recently and claimed that it’s a sign of something happening behind-the-scenes:

“Yeah, I believe all of it. I really do. I think with the stocks being up for grabs, people selling, because I know Vince has sold, Steph has sold, Nick Khan has sold.

A lot of people are selling their stock, and usually you don’t do that unless something’s going on behind closed doors. And honestly think there’s already a power struggle when I was there.”

Nature of The Beast: Matt Riddle

From Vince McMahon’s original ‘retirement’ to Endeavor acquiring the company, and McMahon then being forced out of TKO, the company has seen multiple management changes in the last few years. With The Rock becoming a board member and bringing his own vision to the promotion, the talks of another potential change is not surprising for a lot of people.

Matt Riddle mentioned all these events to support his theory. Though the former US Champion claimed that it’s all just the nature of the beast:

“They keep trying to get Vince out, and trying for Steph and Triple H to get in that position. And now that they got him out, now it’s Endeavor trying to get them out, or Rock, or whoever it is. So I think that’s just the nature of the beast.”

Apart from this, the now former WWE star also made some bold claims about CM Punk’s backstage behaviour in the company. You can check out more about it here.

Hall of Famer Believes R-Truth Could Become World Champion In WWE With Ron Killings Persona

0

Could Ron Killings be WWE’s next world champion?

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for R-Truth. From announcing his release, to getting his name chanted at every show, and finally being rehired and making his big return to end a prominent PPV in Money in The Bank, a lot has happened for the wrestling veteran.

WWE Hall of Famer Book T talked about these turn of events on the latest episode of his podcast. He discussed R-Truth’s Raw promo post-Money In The Bank. T compared it to the different characters of Mick Foley and said that it might lead to him becoming a world champion in WWE:

“He’s not R-Truth anymore. I like that too. We might see a totally different guy perhaps, almost like Mick Foley and Mankind and Dude Love. Let’s see what Ron Killings brings to the table.

I see Ron Killings winning the World Heavyweight Championship. That’s what I see. Put the title on him. How crazy would that be? It would the biggest thing since, perhaps, putting the title on Mick Foley.”

R-Truth cost John Cena the tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso at the Money In The Bank PPV. He then appeared on Raw two days later to cut a promo, telling fans that their voice matters.

The beloved WWE star then shocked everyone by cutting his own hair. He teased a more serious side of him in coming times, saying that it was Ron Killings who was in control now, not Truth.

How Sabrina Carpenter Inspired Blake Monroe’s WWE NXT Arrival

0

Blake Monroe is part of WWE NXT, marking a major change for the former AEW Women’s World Champion. On the June 10, edition of WWE NXT, the former Mariah May confirmed her new moniker with a video package that may have looked very familiar.

On X, fans noticed how Monroe’s package bore a striking resemblance to footage from award-winning artist Sabrina Carpenter.

image

Monroe debuted on WWE NXT on the June 3, episode, with her arrival instantly going viral. Appearing on the balcony during a segment featuring several women of the silver brand, Monroe made clear her goal: She’s coming for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.

The Glamour’s impact over WWE NXT will continue on the June 17, episode, when she signs a contract to make her status as a WWE Superstar official. With Monroe exuding confidence, it may be a matter of time before the British star is known as a champion once more.

Shotzi Blackheart: WWE Doesn’t Owe Me Anything, That’s Showbiz

0

Shotzi Blackheart’s time with WWE has ended, but she’s not going to bemoan the circumstances behind her release. Sitting down with Ariel Helwani, Shotzi shared that WWE never revealed why they weren’t going to renew her contract.

“I probably will never know why they released me but, WWE doesn’t owe me anything. That’s showbiz, right?”

Though Shotzi is gone, there’s no shortage of talents who have returned to WWE after establishing themselves elsewhere. For Blackheart, a return to WWE isn’t off the table.

“I would love to be back at WWE. I loved working there… It was only when I wasn’t being used that I was unhappy.”

With her time in WWE a thing of the past, at least for now, Shotzi is looking to the future. When asked if she’d like to land in either AEW or TNA full-time, Shotzi saw herself as a future ‘All-Elite’ talent.

“I love their freedom, I have a lot of friends there who are doing really awesome things. I’ve heard many stories of how Tony (Khan) treats talent. So, yeah, I do love that he really cares.”

Signing with AEW would also give Shotzi the chance to face ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, a star Shotzi is very familiar with. Shotzi named Athena, who she once held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships with, as a dream match, adding that “I am such a huge fan of her.”

Shotzi Blackheart is already racking up bookings post-WWE, showing that there is a market and interest in her. It remains to be seen if a return to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut, or a future in AEW, ever happens.

Chelsea Green On How She Got Lucky With Broken Nose Injury

0

A broken nose is never a fun experience, and in wrestling can result in a talent losing weeks of action. As Chelsea Green explained on the Lightweights podcast though, things could have been much worse for her during her recent broken nose injury.

“It looks pretty good. Honestly I’m shocked, it was such a clean break. I barely had bruising, I barely had swelling, I could breathe properly. I was lucky.”

Green suffered her broken nose during a showdown with Zelina Vega at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Always one to make the best out of a bad situation, the longest-reigning Women’s U.S. Champion saw her injury as a chance to show a new, creative side.

“We shifted creative to do something fun. So I could bedazzle a mask, so I could hit Piper with it at TV when Alba had a match. Who knows what we’ll be doing tomorrow.”

Chelsea Green may be dealing with an injury but that won’t keep her from entertaining fans aroun the world with her antics in and out of the ring.

No One Told Me: Logan Paul Says He Was Unaware of R-Truth’s MITB Return

0

Logan Paul apparently got the Tom Holland treatment from WWE.

The Spider-Man star is known for not being able to contain himself, and there have been many instances of him leaking critical info about upcoming movies. It has happened so many times that Marvel Studio executives have resorted to hiding info about his own movies from him, per Holland himself.

The YouTube star seemingly got a similar treatment for his Money In The Bank match from WWE officials, where he teamed up with John Cena to face the duo of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. The ending of the bout saw a returning R-Truth attacking Cena, costing him the match.

Speaking about the PPV on his Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul claimed that he was actually told nothing about the return and he only found out during the match:

“I’m sitting there like basically knocked out, and Cody (Rhodes) and John (Cena) are in the ring, I’m rooting for my guy John, ‘Get us that win John!’ And dude, out of nowhere comes f*cking R-Truth who I thought was fired. I thought the WWE let him go.

Also, here’s the thing, no one told me R-Truth was coming. I didn’t even know. I didn’t even know. So bro, I’m sitting there and he comes back, I’m like, ‘What the f*ck is he doing here!?’ Yes, in the moment (I became a fan) and dude, I’m selling, I’m like, hey, then he hit John and we lost the f*cking match!”

Logan Paul effectively took himself out of the tag match towards the ending of the bout with a massive moonsault on Uso outside the ring. With the social media celebrity not being factored into the finish of the bout, it’s very much possible that he was kept in the dark to protect the surprise.

The spot saw both Paul and Uso going through the announce desk. During the podcast, Logan revealed that John Cena was actually doubtful about him being able to pull off the Moonsault but he convinced the Cenation Leader.

Latest On CM Punk In Saudi Arabia After Past Criticism

0

WWE has officially announced that CM Punk will face John Cena for the WWE Undisputed Championship, with their long-awaited showdown to come at Night of Champions. The match has sparked a discussion about Punk’s involvement, given his past criticisms about WWE’s partnership with Saudi Arabia.

WWE has been planning for Punk to be part of the Saudi event for some time, Dave Meltzer reports. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that despite WWE removing Punk from a promo package for the event, the response from WWE sources was “he’s going.”

Punk has not shared any issues with going to Saudi Arabia in recent months, despite his past criticism of Saudi events. In an infamous, now-deleted tweet from 2020, Punk told The Miz to “Go suck a blood money covered d**k in Saudi Arabia you f**ing dork” when Miz made a comment on WWE Backstage Punk saw as a swipe at him. The two later reconciled when they crossed paths backstage at WWE RAW in 2023.

WWE Night of Champions will be held on Saturday, June 28, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It remains to be seen if Punk can be the one to save WWE from the ‘Unseen Seventeen.’

Chelsea Green Eager For Total Divas Reboot, Shares Dream Cast

0

Total Divas may have been off the air for years, but Chelsea Green hasn’t stopped thinking about it—and she’s more than ready for a revival.

In a recent appearance on the Lightweights podcast, Green was asked whether she ever thinks about a potential return of the reality series. Her answer was immediate and emphatic.

“Every day. Every minute of every hour of every day, I think about Total Divas.”

A longtime fan of the show, Green didn’t hesitate to cast herself in a hypothetical reboot. She also nominated her friend Maxxine Dupri and explained why Tiffany Stratton might surprise viewers.

“Tiffy is a shoo in. Although I think it’s funny because she’s not like her character. She’s so much calmer and she’s very down to earth, so that actually might be boring for reality TV. I dunno, she’s so normal.”

Green initially overlooked Zelina Vega until host Joe pitched her, and then wrapped up her dream cast by naming Nia Jax—a Total Divas alum she believes would bring serious value as she “knows everything about everything” and would be perfect to ‘spill the tea.’

While WWE currently has no plans to revive Total Divas, Chelsea Green is clearly ready to add “reality TV star” to her résumé if the opportunity ever arises.

Blake Monroe (Mariah May) to Make WWE Arrival Official on June 17

0

Blake Monroe will make things official on the June 17, edition of WWE NXT by signing a contract to officially become a Superstar. During the June 10, episode, a breaking news alert confirmed that Monroe will put pen to paper in seven days time. The news broke during a tag team match featuring Tony D’Angelo and Luca Crusifino vs. The High Ryze.

Monroe is better known to fans as Mariah May, the former AEW Women’s World Champion who debuted on the June 3, episode of the silver brand. Monroe wrapped up her AEW tenure earlier this year with her final All-Elite match being against Toni Storm at AEW Revolution.

With the pen soon hitting paper, Monroe’s arrival has changed the landscape of the NXT Women’s division, leaving fans excited for what’s next. With her sights already set on the NXT Women’s Title, it may be a matter of time before Blake Monroe is known as a champion.

Mini Tournament Announced For NXT Title Shot At Evolution 2

0

A new NXT tournament has been announced.

WWE recently confirmed the return of the all-women PPV Evolution. The event was announced for July 13, 2025, and since then, fans have been wondering what the card for the show will look like.

During the latest episode of the Black & Silver show, General Manager Ava confirmed at least one of the bouts for the upcoming PPV. She announced that the NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne will be defending her title at the event.

To determine her opponent, Ava announced sort of a mini-tournament with two rounds. The first-round features four singles matches with the respective winners earning a spot in a #1 contenders fatal four-way match.

NXT Tournament for Women’s Title Shot

nxt tournament

The four qualifying matches that are set to take place at next week’s episode of the development show include names such as Jordynne Grace and Jaida Parker. The full lineup is as follows:

  • Lash Legend vs. Kelani Jordan
  • Zaria vs. Izzi Dame
  • Thea Hail vs. Jaida Parker
  • Lola Vice vs. Jordynne Grace

The NXT title match isn’t the only bout that the company is building towards for the upcoming PPV. This week’s episode of Raw featured the WWE return of Nikki Bella. The Hall of Famer cut a promo praising some members of the current roster. Liv Morgan was not happy with being excluded from this list.

She came out to confront the WWE veteran and the whole thing soon turned physical. With Morgan along with her partner Raquel Rodriguez being the reigning Women’s tag team champions, it seems logical that this segment is building towards a tag title match for Evolution against The Bella Twins.

AEW Star’s Contract Is Up Soon

0

The future of Danhausen with AEW and ROH is reportedly uncertain, as his contract is set to expire in July.

According to a new report from Fightful, there have been no creative plans for Danhausen since his surprise return at the ROH Final Battle pay-per-view in December 2024. That appearance was his first since suffering a torn pectoral muscle in March of that year.

While Danhausen was said to have been welcomed back positively backstage at Final Battle, with the impression that he would be regularly featured again, he has not appeared on television since. The report notes that when Danhausen reached out to the company multiple times following the event, he was told there were no plans to bring him to television in those particular weeks.

Unless significant injury time is added to his deal, the very nice, very evil star could become a free agent next month. Danhausen has yet to publicly comment on his AEW contract status.

Mariah May is now Blake Monroe

0

Mariah May’s new WWE ring name was indeed revealed as Blake Monroe on Tuesday’s episode of NXT on The CW. A vignette aired during the show where she was billed as “The Glamour of NXT”, continuing to use that moniker alongside her new ring name.

May made her NXT debut last week on June 3rd but her name wasn’t mentioned during that initial appearance.

The name change makes sense from WWE’s perspective since her real name is Mariah May Mead, and WWE wanted to use a name the company can trademark, as trademarking a real name is more complicated. This follows a similar pattern to other recent signings like Ricky Starks becoming Ricky Saints when he joined NXT.

The name Blake appears to be a tribute to her niece.

Ron Killings: “Put Some RESPECT On My Name!”

0

Ron Killings has made an impactful return to WWE, and fans have Triple H and Nick Khan to thank for his return. Taking to X, Killings name-dropped WWE’s CCO and President when discussing his return. Killings also declared that people “put some RESPECT on my name,” demonstrating his more serious side.

The post followed a dramatic segment on Raw, where Killings delivered a heartfelt promo and cut off his signature braids. Staring right into the camera, he declared: “The truth has set me free—I am Ron Killings,” seemingly marking an end to the fun-loving R-Truth character.

The emotional reinvention marked one of the most striking character shifts in recent WWE memory, closing the door on years of comedic antics. Killings’ new side was on clear display at WWE Money in the Bank, where he attacked John Cena, the man R-Truth once called his ‘childhood hero.’

The veteran wrestler is back and with a new attitude. Whether it leads to a serious singles push or a high-profile feud, the WWE Universe is now seeing a side of Ron Killings they’ve never seen before.

Chad Gable Won’t Hide His Nipples Amid Americano Speculation

0

At WWE Money in the Bank, the commentary team once again discussed whether Chad Gable and El Grande Americano, with talk turning to the pair’s respective nipples. While Michael Cole argued that Gable and Americano have identical nipples, this claim was met with bewilderment by Pat McAfee and Wade Barrett.

On Raw Recap, Gable responded to the unusual on-air commentary and made it clear he doesn’t want the topic brought up again.

“Well, I heard there was an extensive conversation about my nipples on that pay-per-view broadcast, so let’s put an end to any Chad Gable nipple talk right now.”

Gable has always rejected the notion that he and Americano are one and the same. In the interview, Gable bawked at the idea that nipples will become key identifiers like fingerprints.

“I don’t try to hide them—there’s nothing to hide. Nipples look alike, so what are you gonna tell me, you’re gonna try to match someone’s nipples? Are you crazy? What are we doing here?”

Despite the bizarre debate, Gable has had a standout week including headlining WWE x AAA Worlds Collide and competing on Raw. In terms of his nipples, Gable won’t hide what he has, no matter what Michael Cole has to say.

Jacy Jayne Fires Back at Critics After NXT Women’s Title Win

0

Jacy Jayne isn’t paying attention to the doubters after capturing the NXT Women’s Championship. On Busted Open Radio, Jayne acknowledged that while her win took many by surprise, she wasn’t amongst them.

“Hard work eventually is going to pay off. Like I always knew I would get to this point, I just didn’t know when it would happen. So I’m not shocked.”

Jayne captured the gold from Stephanie Vaquer in what proved to be the Chilean Superstar’s farewell to WWE NXT. For Jayne, her dedication in and out of the ring has paid off.

“I would do my training here at the PC in the morning. I would take ring and then I’d do strength and conditioning. I’d go home, I’d take like a power nap and then I’d go to Flatbacks at night—Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears’ school.”

Jayne walked into the title match as a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Gigi Dolin. Now with the top prize in WWE NXT around her waist, Jacy Jayne is ready to silence all who doubt she is a champion of the ring, including the recently-debuted Mariah May.

GUNTHER Praises Jey Uso, Eyes Goldberg and Seth Rollins

0

On the June 9, WWE Raw, GUNTHER regained the World Heavyweight Championship, putting an end to Jey Uso’s reign at 51 days. While Jey’s reign may have been brief, GUNTHER had to give kudos to Jey during an appearance on the Raw Recap:

“I’ve got to give it to him; I think he stepped up. I think he fulfilled a lot of hopes and expectations that people had in him.

While GUNTHER regained the gold, things could have gone differently. The Ring General admitted that Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins remains a threat, as does a long-rumored showdown with Bill Goldberg.

“Everyone was speculating that Seth Rollins was gonna do something with his briefcase, or that Goldberg was gonna show upwhen I was world champion the first time, all those big names stayed away from me—and for good reason.”

Time will tell what GUNTHER’s second reign looks like, but he plans to hold the World Heavyweight Champion for a long time. And after a dominant first reign, the second run of the Ring General could be his best yet.

Former WWF Star Reveals Hulk Hogan Incident That Made Him Lose All Respect For The Hall of Famer

0

A former WWE star would love to slap Hulk Hogan.

The Hulkster is not the most popular figure in the wrestling circle nowadays. Since the controversy over racial remarks back in 2012, many stars have spoken against the WWE Hall of Famer.

Paul Roma joined this list after calling out the former face of WWE on the latest episode of his Power & Glory podcast. While discussing who he’d like to face in a real-life fight, the former WWE star did not hesitate to name Hogan:

“I’m going to slap the taste out of his mouth, every other word that comes out of his mouth is ‘brother.’ So you know what? When I slap the taste out, I’m going to say to him, ‘How’s that feel, brother?’”

Hulk Hogan’s Meet & Greet Incident

Later in the episode, Roma who shared the locker room with Hulk both in WWF and WCW, went into details of the reason behind his feelings. He recalled an incident involving a disabled child during a meet & greet event.

Per Paul, the child who was wheeled in on a bed arrived late to the event, and when asked to meet him after other children, Hulk Hogan did not hide his contempt “He threw his hands up and got a little pissy about it and said, ‘You know, I’m not getting paid for this.’”

Paul Roma, who has raised funds for various charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, was shocked at his reaction. He explained that he lost all respect for the former World Champion after this. The only reason he did not confront Hogan was that because then both of them would be out of jobs and Hulk would be suing him over the incident.

Chad Gable On Worlds Collide: “It Was Probably The Most Special Day Of My Career”

0

Chad Gable had a whirlwind weekend, and he’s calling it the most special of his entire career. He wrestled in three high-profile matches over three days, including headlining the historic WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event.

On the official Raw Recap podcast, Gable reflected on the pressure of main-eventing the first major collaboration-type event between the two companies against AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo.

“It was probably the most special day of my entire career,” Gable said. “The AAA thing… was an opportunity and pressure like I’ve never felt because it’s this new relationship that we’ve started… that falls on my shoulders as being part of the first main event. You better deliver.”

Later that same night, Gable competed as his masked alter-ego, El Grande Americano, in the Money in the Bank ladder match. He then went on to face AJ Styles on Raw just two days later.

He believes the Worlds Collide event was a massive success that created a huge buzz for the new partnership. It also helped renew the passion of Corey Graves, who called the show with Konnan:

Sammy Guevara Reveals What It Meant to Be Cody Rhodes’ First and Last AEW Opponent

0

Few wrestlers can claim the unique honor that Sammy Guevara holds in AEW history. As both Cody Rhodes’ first opponent on Dynamite and his final match before leaving for WWE, Guevara bookended a crucial chapter in wrestling history—and he’s finally opening up about what those moments meant.

In a revealing interview on “Casual Conversations” with The Wrestling Classic, the three-time TNT Champion discussed his strategic approach to building his career and the calculated risks that paid off in unexpected ways.

“To be his first dynamite match and last dynamite match it’s really crazy… I feel like I didn’t understand at the time what that moment meant for myself or for my career. But it’s only now when I look back and I can see like you know the moments that were made out of it that it’s like ‘Oh wow That was a really special night,”

Guevara’s positioning in these historic moments wasn’t accidental. His revelation about investing $2,500 of his limited income in a panda head costume for the first Double or Nothing demonstrates the entrepreneurial mindset that separated him from other young wrestlers.

“Dude I paid like $2500 for that thing and I was not making a lot of money… I just saw it as an investment because I was like ‘Okay no matter what happens like they’re going to remember that panda guy was pretty good. They may not remember the name but they’ll remember that panda guy was pretty good.’ And I think it worked out,”

The interview also touched on his role as one of the “Four Pillars” of AEW alongside Darby Allin, MJF, and Jungle Boy—a designation that wasn’t self-proclaimed but earned through consistent performance during the company’s most challenging period.

“We were the four younger guys that was that were really trying to break through… we’re also the stars too you know that helped build this place up,”

Looking back, Guevara’s strategic investments in his character and willingness to take risks paid off in ways he couldn’t have imagined. His position in AEW history is now cemented, and his journey from unknown independent wrestler to company pillar serves as inspiration for the next generation of performers.

The full interview explores more of Guevara’s career highlights and his evolution as both a performer and person.

GUNTHER Reclaims WWE Championship: “Nothing Surprising” About Return to Top

GUNTHER has once again ascended to the summit of WWE, capturing the World Heavyweight Championship for the second time after defeating Jey Uso on Monday Night Raw. The Austrian powerhouse, known as “The Ring General,” showed no surprise at his victory, dismissing any notion that his championship win was unexpected.

“Of course I’m the new champion. You said I caught everyone by surprise—I don’t know what’s so surprising about this,” GUNTHER stated during his post-match appearance on Raw Recap, demonstrating the confidence that has defined his WWE career.

The championship bout marked a dramatic reversal of fortune for both competitors. At WrestleMania 41 in April, Jey Uso had defeated GUNTHER via submission, ending what had been a dominant eight-month reign for the Austrian. However, GUNTHER’s return to championship status validates his assertion that “this is a marathon, not a sprint.”

The Ring General addressed critics who had seemingly written off their encounter as inconsequential, believing other storylines might overshadow the match.

“I guess going in, it was seen as a nothing match, just a Mania rematch, and everyone was speculating that Seth Rollins was gonna do something with his briefcase, or that Goldberg was gonna show up,” he explained.

GUNTHER’s championship victory reinforces his position as one of WWE’s most formidable competitors. His previous title reign included historic runs as both Intercontinental Champion and World Heavyweight Champion, establishing him as a dominant force across multiple divisions.

While acknowledging Uso’s WrestleMania victory, GUNTHER emphasized his unique position in WWE’s landscape:

“No one matches me—nobody’s got the mental ability, the confidence, or the stamina to last that long. It’s only me. I’m competing in my own class.”

The championship change sets up intriguing possibilities for WWE’s summer programming, with GUNTHER once again positioned as the company’s premier champion on Monday Night Raw.

Corey Graves Says Calling WWE x AAA Worlds Collide Helped Renew His Passion

0

WWE commentator Corey Graves had a standout performance at the recent WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worlds Collide event, and he says the experience helped rejuvenate his passion for the business.

Graves, who called the action alongside lucha libre legend Konnan, received widespread praise from fans for his work on the show. Following the event, he posted a heartfelt message on social media, thanking AAA and acknowledging he had been going through a “rough patch.”

“Sometimes, you run low on passion. But then, something like this weekend happens,” Graves wrote. “Gracias por permitirme entrar en tu mundo, @luchalibreaaa. I only wanted to do your culture & business proud… Thanks to you guys, for reminding me that a rough patch isn’t the end of the road.”

His comments come after he publicly voiced frustration earlier this year about being moved from the main roster commentary team back to NXT. He had missed some time due to the comments he made on social media before returning to his duties alongside Vic Joseph and Booker T on the announce team.
