Muhammad Hassan: ‘My Character Ended WWE’s Attitude Era’

0

Former WWE superstar Mark Copani believes his Muhammad Hassan character served as a catalyst that fundamentally changed World Wrestling Entertainment’s approach to controversial storylines. Speaking with Steve Fall on Ten Count Media ahead of his Dark Side of the Ring episode, Copani argued his character marked a pivotal moment in wrestling history.

“It was the end of the attitude era and they had to really rethink their portrayal of different nationalities and different circumstances,” Copani explained. “And I think it was kind of an eye opener for them as well that they couldn’t just do what you wanted on TV anymore.”

The Muhammad Hassan character, which debuted three years after 9/11, generated unprecedented real-world controversy that transcended typical wrestling heat. Unlike previous foreign antagonists, Hassan’s storylines touched raw nerves in post-9/11 America, creating reactions WWE wasn’t prepared to handle.

“I think it might have been too late because the world was changing around the WWE and suddenly things like that weren’t looked at as entertainment anymore. They became too raw, too real,” Copani reflected.

“It was kind of cancel culture. It was really kind of early on like there was no opportunity to change that character or to change what he was saying. It was get this character off of television.”

The character’s abrupt removal in 2005 forced WWE to reconsider how cultural sensitivity intersects with entertainment, establishing new boundaries that continue influencing content decisions today.

Muhammad Hassan’s 11-Year-Old Son’s Comment Changed Everything About His WWE Regrets

0

Mark Copani found unexpected wisdom in the words of his youngest child, transforming how he views his controversial WWE career as Muhammad Hassan. During an interview with Steve Fall on Ten Count Media, the former wrestler revealed a profound moment that reshaped his perspective on professional disappointment.

“My son had said to me not too long after we watched it and he’s my youngest and he just turned 11,” Copani explained about watching the Dark Side of the Ring episode featuring his story. “And he said, you know, if that would have happened, I wouldn’t be here. And I think that’s what he was thinking is if you lived this different life, like we wouldn’t be here. And I said, well, that’s right. And that’s why I don’t regret anything that happened and I’m glad it happened that way.”

The observation from his son crystallized Copani’s evolution from wrestling disappointment to family fulfillment. Now serving as Director of Human Resources in a city school district, he’s embraced a completely different life path raising four athletic children.

“I am where I am and I’m happy where I am and I’m proud of where I am. And, you know, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I wouldn’t change anything I have,” Copani stated. “Anybody could say anything about my career in the WWE. And I honestly, excuse my language, could give a damn. It doesn’t have that effect on me like it might have in the past.”

His transformation from wrestling’s most controversial character to devoted father demonstrates how personal fulfillment can provide perspective on professional setbacks.

Trick Williams as TNA World Champion: What His Historic Reign Means for Wrestling’s Future

0

Following his groundbreaking victory over Joe Hendry at WWE Battleground 2025, Trick Williams now stands as wrestling’s most unique champion. As the first active WWE-contracted wrestler to hold the TNA World Championship, Williams’ reign represents far more than a title change—it symbolizes a revolutionary new era in professional wrestling where traditional promotional boundaries no longer exist.

The Revolutionary Champion: Trick Williams Breaks Wrestling Barriers

Trick Williams’ championship victory at the Yuengling Center delivered intense action that culminated in a historic moment for the wrestling industry. The match showcased the strengthened partnership between WWE and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling that has dominated wrestling headlines throughout 2025, with Williams emerging as the central figure in this cross-promotional evolution.

Match Breakdown: How Trick Williams Defeated Joe Hendry

The TNA World Championship match delivered intense action from bell to bell. Both competitors exchanged devastating signature moves and multiple near-fall sequences that kept the Tampa crowd on their feet.

In the match’s climactic moments, Williams attempted to weaponize the TNA World Championship belt, but the referee’s intervention prevented the illegal tactic. Hendry capitalized with a surprise roll-up that nearly ended Williams’ championship dreams, earning a dramatic two-count.

The turning point came when Hendry positioned himself for his finishing maneuver, the Standing Ovation. Williams countered with an eye rake, followed by a perfectly executed flapjack that drove Hendry face-first into the championship belt lying on the canvas. Williams immediately connected with his devastating Trick Shot finisher to secure the three-count and wrestling immortality.

Trick Williams’ Championship Reign: Redefining Wrestling’s Landscape

As TNA World Champion, Williams now occupies a unique position in professional wrestling history. His championship reign challenges traditional notions of brand loyalty and territorial boundaries that have defined the industry for decades. Unlike previous cross-promotional champions who held titles while contracted elsewhere, Williams actively represents WWE while carrying TNA’s most prestigious championship.

What Trick Williams’ TNA Championship Means for Wrestling

Williams’ reign as TNA World Champion creates unique dynamics for both wrestling promotions. For WWE, having one of their rising stars hold another company’s top championship elevates NXT’s profile and demonstrates the strength of their talent development system. For TNA, placing their championship on a WWE star generates unprecedented mainstream attention and validates their position as a legitimate wrestling promotion worthy of partnership with sports entertainment’s biggest company.

The championship reign also establishes Williams as wrestling’s most compelling crossover star, someone who must navigate representing both brands while maintaining authentic storylines that serve each promotion’s interests.

Joe Hendry’s Championship Reign Comes to an End

Hendry’s TNA World Championship reign concluded at 126 days, ending a successful title run that began when he defeated Nic Nemeth at TNA Genesis. During his championship tenure, Hendry gained significant mainstream attention, including a high-profile WrestleMania 41 appearance against Randy Orton.

The Williams-Hendry rivalry had been building momentum for weeks, with both wrestlers interfering in each other’s matches and championship opportunities, creating the perfect storm for their Battleground showdown.

The Road Ahead: Williams’ Championship Challenges

The newly crowned champion faces immediate challenges that will define his historic reign. Williams must defend the TNA World Championship against Mike Santana on WWE NXT, creating a scenario where TNA’s top title is defended on WWE programming—further blurring the lines between promotions.

This championship defense represents more than a single match; it showcases how both companies are integrating their top talent and storylines for maximum impact while maintaining their distinct identities. Williams’ success or failure as champion could determine the future direction of WWE-TNA collaboration.

Trick Williams: Wrestling’s Most Intriguing Champion

Williams’ position as TNA World Champion while remaining an active WWE superstar creates unprecedented storytelling opportunities. His championship reign forces both promotions to collaborate more deeply than ever before, with storylines that must satisfy audiences of both companies while maintaining the integrity of each brand.

The success of Williams’ championship tenure could reshape how wrestling promotions approach partnerships, potentially leading to more cross-promotional championship reigns and collaborative storytelling that benefits the entire wrestling industry. Williams now carries the responsibility of proving that inter-promotional cooperation can enhance rather than diminish the value of professional wrestling championships.

Two WWE Main Roster Call-Ups Expected

0

Two top stars from WWE’s NXT brand, Stephanie Vaquer and Jordynne Grace, are reportedly expected for WWE main roster call-ups. This news came out following the May 27, 2025, NXT episode where Vaquer shockingly lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Jacy Jayne.

According to Cory Hays of PW Nexus on X, following Vaquer’s title loss, an update on her future indicates both she and Grace are expected to be called up to WWE’s main roster. The report further specified Vaquer is slated for Raw, with Grace expected for SmackDown.

It is unclear if these main roster moves will be part of a yet-to-be-announced 2025 WWE Draft. Alternatively, General Managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis could directly sign them to their new brands, mirroring the recent arrivals of Roxanne Perez and Giulia.

Vaquer and Grace previously battled for Vaquer’s then-NXT Women’s Title at the NXT Battleground premium live event on May 25th. Vaquer previously appeared on Raw in April, challenging Women’s World Champion IYO SKY, while Grace has made two prior WWE appearances in Women’s Royal Rumble matches.

Chelsea Green On Kelly Kelly Fandom: ‘She’s Perfect!’

0

Chelsea Green has never been quiet about her love for Kelly Kelly, often citing her as an inspiration for her own in-ring career. Speaking to Tyler Breeze on Topps’ Ripping Packs, Green gushed about Kelly Kelly when handed a card of the former Divas Champion.

“She’s my favorite woman in the history of all wrestling because she’s the most amazing beautiful talented girl ever. Let me tell you something, when she did her back hamstring elbow and she was wearing a purple outfit, I’ll never forget that day. She’s perfect and look at it [shows off card,] she looked perfect right there too.”

Kelly Kelly hasn’t regularly competed in WWE since 2012 but has appeared in three Royal Rumble matches, the most recent of which was in 2022. Green would make her return to WWE the following year and has since gone on to become the first-ever Women’s United States Champion.

For Chelsea Green, Kelly Kelly was more than a popular name of her era, but a true inspiration to the Canadian. It remains to be seen if Chelsea ever gets the chance to share the ring with her idol in WWE, either as allies or as opponents.

Mariah May Hits Back At ‘Jobless’ Dig Amid AEW Absence

0

Mariah May is setting the record straight, making clear she’s not gone from AEW, but she’s merely enjoying a vacation. When a fan on X made reference to calling May ‘jobless,’ the former AEW Women’s World Champion responded.

Despite this clarification, some still argued that May was jobless, which one telling her to “Stop being unemployed and wrestle.” This earned another response from the Glamor.

May’s comments come after weeks of online chatter about her AEW status. Speculation ramped up after her loss to Toni Storm at AEW Revolution, her most recent match for AEW. In the months since her recent match, May has shared some social media posts which some fans have interpreted as signs she might be on the way out of the company.

As for when May will return, time will tell. With this reportedly being a contract year for the Glamour, big things could be coming, but for now, May is enjoying her vacation.

Chelsea Green Reflects On ‘Wrestling Marriage’ With WWE Rival

0

Chelsea Green has fought Michin several times in WWE, but their journey dates back long before either was known as a fully-branded ‘Superstar.’ Speaking to Tyler Breeze on ‘Ripping Packs.’ Green explained her connection to Michin after pulling a card of hers from a Topps trading card pack.

“Michin is like the story that never ends. I just can’t get rid of her she just keeps coming back but, you know, it’s been like that for eleven years, we’ve been like this. It’s crazy, every single time one of us goes somewhere then the other is there within months. It’s a wrestling marriage.”

Green and Michin battled for the first time in 2016 as part of TNA Xplosion, according to data provided by Cagematch. Since then, the pair have competed over a dozen times against one another in both TNA and WWE. The pair’s most high-profile match came at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2024, where Green bested Michin to become the first-ever Women’s United States Champion.

A rematch between Michin and Green is likely a question of when, not if. Close to a decade after their first-ever encounter, this is a ‘marriage’ that remains as strong as ever.

Jacy Jayne On Shock Title Win: ‘Never Doubt Me Again’

0

Jacy Jayne shocked the NXT Universe on May 27 by defeating Stephanie Vaquer in the main event of WWE NXT to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. Shortly after the broadcast concluded, Jayne took to X to address her critics directly.

“To everyone who ever doubted me, called me the third wheel, said I’d never make it… HAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Never doubt me again.”

Jayne’s post followed a chaotic, interference-laden title match that ultimately saw Fallon Henley play a pivotal role. After Vaquer connected with her signature Devil’s Kiss, Henley struck with a surprise kick, giving Jayne the opening she needed to secure the pinfall. On X, Henley mocked those who had argued that there had been tensions within Fatal Influence.

Vaquer had only just defended the title against Jordynne Grace at WWE Battleground, adding to the shock of her sudden loss. Now, Vaquer may not be finished chasing championship gold, but for now, NXT has a new queen.

Stephanie Vaquer Match And More Announced For Worlds Collide

0

A Stephanie Vaquer match has been announced for the NXTxAAA Worlds Collide event set for next month.

WWE presented the NXT exclusive Battleground PPV this past weekend, which featured the NXT Women’s Champion successfully defending her title against Jordynne Grace. In a backstage segment after this bout, Vaquer was confronted by AAA stars Chik Tormenta and Dalys la Caribeña.

The confrontation turned physical when Jacy Jayne of Fatal Influence showed up and slapped Vaquer. A championship match was then made official between Vaquer and Jayne on this week’s NXT. To everyone’s surprise, Jacy was able to defeat Stephanie and become the new champion with some help from her Fatal Influence partners Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx.

After this title change, Shawn Michaels took to X and announced that Stephanie Vaquer will be teaming up with Lola Vice to face the duo of Chik Tormenta and Dalys at the upcoming show. It was also announced that Ethan Page will be part of the show defending his newly won NA Championship.

Updated Worlds Collide 2025 Match Card

The 2025 Worlds Collide event is set to take place at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on June 7. The show will feature stars from WWE, AAA, and TNA. Below is the current card for the show:

  • Six Men Tag Team Match: Legado Del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Angel, and Berto) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, and Psycho Clown
  • AAA Mega Championship Match: Chad Gable vs. El Hijo del Vikingo
  • NXT North American Championship Match: Ethan Page (c) vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Laredo Kid vs. Rey Fénix
  • Tag Team Match: Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice vs. Chik Tormenta and Dalys

We’ll have to see where Vaquer ends up after this event. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she follows the footsteps of Giulia and is called up to the main roster after this due to her increased popularity in recent times.

Released Talent Referenced On WWE NXT

0

In May 2025, WWE released several Superstars from the main roster and WWE NXT, greatly affecting several storylines at the time of the cuts. While talent won’t be seeing these released wrestlers on WWE TV anymore, unless one or some of them are rehired, they’re not gone from programming completely.

During the May 27, edition of WWE NXT, Tatum Paxley made her entrance clutching two dolls. Eagle-eyed fans will have spotted that these were dolls of Gigi Dolin and Shotzi, both of whom were released by WWE. Prior to being cut, the pair had been on-screen allies of Paxley.

This isn’t the first time the pair have been released on WWE NXT. While not mentioned by name, it was the releases of Shotzi and Dolin which recently led to Paxley turning heel and attacking Thea Hail. Paxley defeated Hail in a match on the May 13 edition of WWE NXT and continued to claw at the face of Thea Hail after the match.

While releases are rarely a good thing, it has led to a major character development for Tatum Paxley, and we’ll have to see if WWE can keep the momentum going forward.

Ethan Page Wins NXT North American Title to Cap Off First Year in WWE

0

The May 27 episode of WWE NXT delivered a standout night of action, kicking off with a high-stakes title change. In the show’s opener, Ricky Saints defended his NXT North American Championship against Ethan Page in an intense bout. NXT General Manager Ava appeared early in the segment, insisting that the match must produce a clear winner.

The contest spilled over into a commercial break, with the action escalating around the announce table. As the referee urged the competitors back into the ring, Ethan Page hit an RKO onto a steel chair at ringside, targeting Ricky Saints’ throat.

Page continued targeting Ricky’s throat, eventually snapping the top rope into him before delivering his finisher. That final sequence secured the victory and crowned Ethan Page as the new NXT North American Champion.

Later in the show, Page appeared once again and gloated with his title. It was then announced that a huge title match is coming for the new North American Champion.

This marks the latest piece of gold for Page, who is already a former NXT Champion. After capturing NXT’s two top titles for men, all within a year of his arrival in NXT on May 28, 2024, the future looks bright for the ‘All Ego’ Superstar.

Stephanie Vaquer Drops NXT Women’s Title In Surprise Loss Before Worlds Collide

0

Stephanie Vaquer is no longer a champion.

The NXT Women’s Champion successfully defended her title against Jordynne Grace at Sunday’s Battleground PPV. She was confronted by AAA stars Chik Tormenta and Dalys la Caribeña in a backstage segment after the show.

Jacy Jayne of Fatal Influence then also came out. A championship match between Jayne and Vaquer was made official for NXT this week after the former slapped the then-champion during their confrontation.

The other two members of Fatal Influence in Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx, were in Jayne’s corner for this bout at the May 27 show. The company teased a potential breakup for the faction when Nyx got pushed to the ground in the middle of an argument between Jayne and Henley.

Stephanie Vaquer Loses NXT Women’s Title

Though Nyx still came through for her partner, and in the end, she distracted the referee just at the right second to allow Fallon to nail Vaquer with a Feint Kick. Jayne was then able to deliver a Discus Forearm and pin the Women’s champion to everyone’s surprise.

Stephanie Vaquer has been announced to team with Lola Vice to face Chik Tormenta & Dalys at the upcoming AAAxNXT Worlds Collide event on June 7.

This surprise title change ends Vaquer’s reign as the champion at just 78 days and we’ll have to see what the company is planning for her after this loss.

Goldberg Explains How Modern Wrestling Allows for Extended Careers

0

When Bill Goldberg steps into the ring for his final match at 58, he’ll be doing something that would have been nearly impossible for wrestlers of previous generations – competing at an elite level well into his fifties.

During a recent interview on The Claw Pod, Goldberg offered insight into how the wrestling industry has evolved to allow performers to extend their careers far beyond what was once considered possible.

“I think that people are learning to take better care of themselves,” Goldberg explained when asked about the differences between current wrestlers and those from earlier eras. “I think the business is lending itself to longevity a little bit more now and that the schedule isn’t as stressed as it used to be.”

The contrast with previous generations is stark. As Goldberg noted about wrestlers from earlier decades, “If they were 58 and they were a wrestler, it was an accomplishment that they were still alive at that point.” This harsh reality reflected the brutal lifestyle of constant travel, and the cumulative physical toll of performing nearly year-round.

Goldberg credits improved understanding of physical maintenance and more selective scheduling for enabling longer careers. Unlike the road warriors of the ’80s and ’90s who performed hundreds of matches per year, modern veterans can choose their spots and prepare properly for significant matches.

Personal motivation also plays a crucial role in Goldberg’s continued fitness. Having his 19-year-old son Gage, a college football player at Colorado, has provided additional inspiration. “Gage has helped, you know, because not only you can talk the talk, but you can walk the walk,” Goldberg said, describing how keeping up with his athletic son pushes him to maintain peak condition.

The evolution extends beyond just physical preparation. Goldberg emphasized that modern wrestlers have more control over their careers, allowing them to end on their own terms rather than being forced out by injury or circumstances. “I get to prepare, you know, for a little while as opposed to happen three and a half weeks prior,” he said, referencing his previous comeback matches that were arranged with minimal notice.

Goldberg’s ability to compete at 58 while maintaining his intimidating presence demonstrates how the wrestling industry has evolved to preserve its stars’ legacies while protecting their long-term health, setting a new standard for how veteran performers can approach the twilight of their careers.

WWE Reportedly Planning More Head-To-Head Battles With AEW

0

WWE is reportedly looking to schedule more direct head-to-head programming against All Elite Wrestling later this year, following several recent instances of the two promotions running major shows on the same day or weekend.

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that sources indicated that this was an intentional strategy.Alvarez stated, “I was told, at this point – and don’t ask me for more details because I don’t have them – but at this point, there are at least, I was told, two other instances coming up this year where they plan on doing head-to-head with AEW battles and these big long weekends.”

This past weekend saw one such battle, with AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday, May 25th, running at the same time as WWE’s NXT Battleground premium live event. Looking ahead, another significant overlap is already confirmed for Saturday, July 12th, 2025. On this date, AEW will present its All In: Texas stadium show from Arlington in the afternoon, followed by WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event special airing in the evening.

WWE’s all-women’s premium live event, Evolution 2, will take place on July 13th. AEW President Tony Khan recently commented on the current scheduling, comparing it to the challenges Jim Crockett Promotions faced against WWE in the 1980s.

AEW Kept Double Or Nothing Match Finish A Closely Guarded Secret

0

Many considered “Hangman” Adam Page’s victory over Will Ospreay in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final at AEW Double or Nothing a “shocker.” New details from Fightful Select reveal the lengths AEW went to keep the outcome a closely guarded secret.

The result was reportedly kept “solidly under wraps” by AEW and Tony Khan, even from the performers themselves until “earlier in the weekend” rather than just the day of the show. There was mutual respect between the competitors; reports indicate “Hangman Page actually pushed for Will Ospreay to win, while Will Ospreay pushed for Hangman Page to win.”

Tony Khan himself was said to be “noncommittal throughout the process when talent would ask him who won.” The ultimate decision for Page to go over led to a feeling of “shock” backstage, as most had anticipated an Ospreay victory.

Dources stated there was “nothing out of the ordinary” regarding the physicality and both men were fine afterward. It was also heard that Jon Moxley had leaned towards wanting Page to win. The bout was “received incredibly well backstage,” furthering adding to an “overwhelmingly positive” feeling about the event, aligning with recent reports of high company morale.

Zoey Stark Undergoes Surgery Following Devastating Knee Injury

0

WWE superstar Zoey Stark has officially begun her recovery journey after undergoing surgery for a serious knee injury sustained during the May 19, 2025, episode of Monday Night RAW. The injury occurred during a high-stakes Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane.

Zoey Stark Knee Surgery

The Injury

The devastating incident unfolded when Stark attempted a missile dropkick on Kairi Sane but landed awkwardly, causing her knee to buckle severely in the wrong direction. The impact was immediately apparent as Stark clutched her knee and cried out in pain, prompting WWE officials to quickly stop filming her for the broadcast. Medical personnel rushed to attend to her condition, and she was carefully carried backstage while the show cut to a commercial break.

The injury forced WWE to change the match’s outcome on the fly, as Stark was originally planned to take the pin in the triple-threat encounter. Rhea Ripley ultimately won the match and secured her spot in the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match scheduled for June 7, 2025.

Surgery Confirmation and Recovery

Earlier today, Stark shared an update on her Instagram Stories showing her leg in a brace and cast, with the caption “Road to recovery starts now! Day 1”, officially confirming that she has undergone the anticipated surgical procedure.

Reports from WrestleBinge initially indicated that Stark was undergoing an MRI and would be heading into surgery following her injury, which has now been confirmed through her social media post.

Expected Recovery Timeline

According to reports from Fightful Select, WWE is preparing for Stark to miss the remainder of 2025, with initial fears backstage suggesting she suffered some kind of tear to the muscles in her knee. The injury is reportedly significant enough to sideline the 31-year-old performer for an extended period.

Stark’s Response to Fans

Following the injury, Stark took to social media to address her supporters with an emotional message: “Wow the love and support means more to me than you’ll ever know! What hurts more than my knee is knowing I wont be able to perform for all of you for a while. I LOVE what I do and I’m blessed to do this. As the saying goes, the comeback is greater than the setback. Love you guys #StarkMarks”

Career Context and Previous Injuries

This marks the second serious knee injury of Stark’s WWE career, as she previously underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in 2021. At that time, Stark revealed she had torn her ACL, MCL, and PCL during an NXT Halloween Havoc event.

Since being called up to the main roster in 2023 as part of the WWE Draft, Stark has established herself as a prominent figure on Monday Night RAW. She made an impactful debut and formed a high-profile alliance with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus during the latter’s feud with Becky Lynch. More recently, she was part of a faction alongside Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville before both departed the company.

Industry Support

Fellow wrestlers have rallied around Stark with messages of support. Rhea Ripley wrote, “Professional wrestling can be very real and dangerous… Tonight continued to prove that anything can happen. Wishing @ZoeyStarkWWE a speedy recovery!” Kairi Sane added, “I truly hope we get to face each other again when you’re ready. Wishing you a smooth recovery.”

While no official timeline has been released by WWE, Stark’s determination and previous successful comeback from a similar injury in 2021 provide hope for another strong recovery.

Bill Goldberg’s Son Gage Talks College Football and Wrestling Future

0

While Bill Goldberg prepares for his final wrestling match, his 19-year-old son Gage is carving out his own athletic legacy on the football fields of Colorado, with wrestling serving only as a distant backup plan.

Gage Goldberg, entering his second year at the University of Colorado under Coach Deion Sanders, appeared alongside his father on The Claw Pod, offering rare insight into life as the son of a wrestling legend while pursuing his own athletic dreams.

Wrestling as a Backup Plan

When asked about potential wrestling interest, Gage acknowledged the possibility while maintaining his focus on football. “Yeah, I mean it’s there. It’s a backup plan,” he said, demonstrating the measured approach his father has instilled in him about having options while staying committed to his current path.

The younger Goldberg spoke enthusiastically about his experience under Coach Prime, calling him “the best coach ever” and praising his teammates at Colorado. He also confirmed the hype surrounding Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, saying “100%” when asked if Hunter lives up to his reputation.

Bill Goldberg Talks About His Son

Bill Goldberg expressed immense pride in his son’s development, emphasizing that Gage has earned everything on his own merit. “He’s far surpassed mentally where I was at that age. He’s extremely responsible. He’s a hell of a student, much more so than I was,” the wrestling legend said.

The father was quick to clarify that despite opening doors, Gage has succeeded through his own efforts. “I have not done anything for him. I’ve opened a door for him maybe, but he’s freaking kicked that door completely in,” Bill explained, highlighting his son’s work ethic and independence.

Gage recently turned 19 and is preparing to move into his first apartment in Boulder with a teammate, marking another step toward independence. His mother will help with the move, as Bill joked he would only ask “You guys done yet?” during the decorating process.

The Goldberg family dynamic offers insight into how wrestling legends balance fame with fatherhood. Bill’s hands-on parenting approach, combined with his respect for his son’s independence, shows a different side of the intimidating wrestling persona fans know.

Bill Goldberg Reveals Son Will Lead Him to Final Wrestling Match

0

Wrestling legend Bill Goldberg is preparing for what he promises will be his final match, and this time he’s determined to end his career on his own terms with his son by his side.

In a recent appearance on The Claw Pod with Ross and Marshall Von Erich, the 58-year-old former WCW champion revealed that his 19-year-old son Gage will lead him to the ring for his farewell bout.

“There is one thing that I can say about my match is that I will be proudly led out by my son,” Goldberg announced, providing the first concrete detail about his upcoming retirement match.

Unlike his previous comeback matches that were arranged with just weeks’ notice, Goldberg is taking time to properly prepare for this farewell.

“At 58 years old, the fact that I’m stepping in the ring, there’s a reason for it. The reason for it is that I get to put a stamp on my career as opposed to somebody else putting a stamp on it,” he explained during the interview.

The wrestling icon has been transparent about the mental hurdles of returning to the ring at nearly 60. “Mentally is probably the toughest part because I don’t see the same dude in the mirror that I used to see when I used to get ready to go out there and do my thing,” Goldberg admitted, offering rare insight into the psychological challenges facing aging athletes.

The former champion described his relationship with his son as central to his life, saying he wakes Gage up every morning and puts him to bed every night when he’s home from college.

The announcement comes as Gage prepares for his second season playing college football at the University of Colorado under Coach Deion Sanders.

Earl Hebner Takes Shot at AEW’s Aubrey Edwards: ‘She Thinks She’s a Big Superstar’

0

Earl Hebner has shared his pointed criticism of AEW referee Aubrey Edwards, questioning both her attitude and the company’s presentation of modern officials. Speaking on Muscle Memory with MuscleManMalcolm, the legendary WWE referee offered a mixed assessment of Edwards’ approach to officiating, which started positive.

“Well, Aubrey, she thinks she’s a big superstar, but she’s a good ref. I’ll give her credit for that.”

Hebner argued that Edwards seeing herself as a ‘big superstar’ does nobody any favors. He questioned AEW’s decision to involve Edwards in physical altercations, recounting a conversation with AEW management.

“Last time I was at the AEW show, I asked the upper office, ‘Why’d y’all hit her in the head with the guitar? It just makes her damn head bigger than what it is, you know?'”

Hebner’s comments reflect a generational divide in the use of referees. The old-school approach emphasized that officials should remain largely invisible, and only make themselves known for counting falls. Edwards, by contrast, represents a modern trend where referees occasionally become integral parts of ongoing narratives and character development.

There is some irony to Hebner’s comments as the refereeing icon is no stranger to the spotlight himself. Despite being an official, Hebner would often stand up to heels in WWE, and even holds a tag-team victory over Triple H and ‘Road Dogg’ Jesse James.

Despite acknowledging Edwards’ technical skills as an official, Hebner’s assessment suggests concern that modern wrestling may be elevating referees beyond their traditional supporting roles. For Hebner, he’d be happier to see the official once again take a back seat behind the talent in the ring.

Jim Ross Recovering After Colon Cancer Surgery

0

AEW commentator Jim Ross is again battling cancer, this time in the colon of the WWE Hall of Famer. Now, the man behind some of the most iconic calls in pro wrestling is recovering after coming out of surgery.

On social media, Conrad Thompson, Ross’ co-host on his Grillin’ JR podcast, shared the positive news about the commentator.

Ross shared his unfortunate diagnosis via a post on X on May 15, 2025, adding that “I appreciate your concern and support.” Since then, fans and wrestlers alike have rallied to support Ross, including his friend ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Ross has previously battled skin cancer in 2021 and 2024 and has suffered multiple bouts of Bells Palsy during his life.

We at SEScoops are continuing to wish Mr. Ross the absolute best in this battle with cancer.

John Cena And Cody Rhodes Advertised For WWE SmackDown

This Friday night, WWE SmackDown will air in Knoxville, Tennessee. Two major stars have been announced: Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and the recently returned Cody Rhodes. Their appearances will precede a tag team match at Money in the Bank on June 7th.

Rhodes returned to WWE programming at Saturday Night’s Main Event, attacking Cena after Cena interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship match involving Logan Paul and Jey Uso. This set the stage for Money in the Bank, where Cena will team with Logan Paul against Rhodes and Jey Uso.

The road to Money in the Bank on Friday’s SmackDown also continues with two high-stakes qualifying matches. In the men’s division, a Triple Threat will see former United States Champion Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes, with the winner earning a spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

The women’s division will also see a qualifier as three powerhouses collide with Jade Cargill vs. Naomi vs. Nia Jax. The victor will move one step closer to potentially capturing the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase.

Rick Derringer, Creator of Hulk Hogan’s Theme, Dead At 77

Rick Derringer, the legendary musician behind Hulk Hogan’s iconic entrance theme “Real American,” has died at the age of 77. Note: Rick Derringer was 77, not the age stated in the original. Derringer’s “Real American” became a defining anthem of the Hulkamania era and was prominently featured when the Hulkster returned to WWE in 2002.

Derringer’s contributions to wrestling extended far beyond the theme song for the controversial WWE Hall of Famer. He co-wrote Demolition’s entrance theme and served as a producer on both The Wrestling Album and Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II. His music helped define the soundtrack of 1980s wrestling for an entire generation of fans.

Beyond wrestling, Derringer enjoyed a distinguished music career that included more than a dozen studio albums as a solo artist. His 1973 debut All American Boy reached number 25 on the U.S. charts, showcasing his talent from the very beginning of his solo career. He collaborated with legendary artists including Steely Dan, Ringo Starr, and Cyndi Lauper—the latter of whom would also leave her mark on the world of professional wrestling.

The team at SEScoops extends our heartfelt condolences to Derringer’s friends, family, and all who knew him during this difficult time.

Injured AEW Star Was Backstage At Double Or Nothing

AEW star Juice Robinson, who has been out of action for several months, was reportedly backstage at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in Glendale, Arizona, over the weekend. PWInsider.com confirmed his presence at the event.

Robinson’s last announced participation was for the 2024 Continental Classic. He was slated as a competitor in November 2024 but was pulled from the tournament due to injury on December 3, 2024, and was subsequently replaced by Komander. The nature of his injury has kept him off AEW programming since that time.

Robinson returned from injury at AEW Double or Nothing on May 26, 2024, helping Bang Bang Gang retain the Unified World Trios Championship. Jay White then granted Robinson a share of the titles under the Freebird Rule.

However, on July 13, 2024, Collision, interim EVP Christopher Daniels overruled this and stripped Bang Bang Gang of the championships. Robinson and The Gunns subsequently failed to win the vacant AEW World Trios Championship the following week.

No further details were provided regarding the reason for his visit or a potential timeline for his in-ring return. It’s unclear when he will be cleared, and if he has already been cleared, when he could make a return.

WWE ID Talent Announces Exit: ‘This Journey is Far From Over’

WWE ID talent Freedom Ramsey has officially stepped away from the program and has confirmed the news in a video shared to social media. In the video, Ramsey confirms his exit and discussed how WWE ID changed his life.

“Hey, I just wanted to share something. I am no longer with WWE ID. This did not happen publicly. Some things are just meant to be handled behind closed doors.

“WWE has always been a dream of mine. It changed me. Wrestling on WWE EVOLVE, training at the Performance Center, just meeting everybody I used to see on TV. Like I learned, I grew, I developed.”

While his time with WWE ID is over, this isn’t the end of the road for Ramsey. Instead, he plans on accomplishing big things, just outside of WWE’s talent development program.

“Now a new chapter begins, and I’m not sure what that looks like yet, but I’m gonna come into it with the same hunger that I did when I started professional wrestling.”

Ramsey signed off by thanking his fans for their support and declaring that “This journey is far from over.” While Ramsey won’t be on the card for the WWE ID Showcase on June 8, his future remains very bright.
