Bobby Lashley Open to Fight Jake Paul

0

AEW powerhouse Bobby Lashley has thrown his name into the ring as a potential opponent for celebrity boxer Jake Paul, expressing genuine interest in a crossover fight during a recent interview with WFAA. The wrestling and MMA veteran didn’t hold back his enthusiasm for the opportunity, despite acknowledging some reservations about the matchup.

“If I had an opportunity to box him, 100% I’d do it tomorrow. You know, I stay in good shape, let’s go hit some mitts, let’s do some sparring, let’s get ready for it, I’d be ready, I’d sign a contract,” Lashley stated during the interview.

Lashley’s interest stems from his competitive nature and genuine respect for what Paul has accomplished in the boxing world. The AEW star, who joined the promotion in September 2024, praised Paul’s impact on the sport and his ability to elevate the profiles of fighters appearing on his cards.

“Jake is doing some big things in the fight world. He’s helping out boxing tremendously because he’s bringing a lot of eyes to it, and the fighters that are fighting on his card are getting paid really well,” Lashley explained.

However, Lashley demonstrated strategic thinking about the potential matchup, suggesting that Paul might benefit more from facing established boxers to further legitimize his boxing career. Despite this assessment, the former WWE Champion’s competitive drive remains undeterred.

“I don’t know if I’m the right matchup for him. I think what he needs is some more like seasoned boxers to fight because he’s good, yeah, he’s actually good, so if he’s good, he needs to keep fighting boxers that can legitimize him more,” Lashley noted.

The potential bout would represent another high-profile crossover opportunity for Paul, who has built his boxing career by facing opponents from various combat sports backgrounds. For Lashley, it would mark a return to combat sports outside of professional wrestling, drawing on his extensive MMA experience.

“I’m the kind of guy that I love competition, so I’d love to be able to fight him and see what he’s all about, see how good he is,” Lashley added, emphasizing his motivation for the potential fight.

Lashley’s openness to the fight reflects the growing trend of crossover matches in combat sports, where athletes from different disciplines test themselves against one another. His wrestling pedigree, combined with his MMA background, would certainly bring a different dynamic to any potential matchup with Paul.

While no official discussions have been reported, Lashley’s public interest and immediate availability could make this an intriguing option for Paul’s future fight calendar. The combination of Lashley’s legitimate combat sports credentials and Paul’s promotional machine would likely generate significant interest from both wrestling and boxing audiences.

As AEW continues to build its roster with high-profile signings like Lashley, the crossover potential between wrestling and other combat sports continues to create compelling storylines and opportunities for athletes to expand their competitive horizons.

WWE Legend Pitches Match for WWE Evolution

0

WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze has thrown her hat into the ring for a potential return at WWE Evolution, the upcoming premium live event scheduled for July 13 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The former Women’s Champion took to Twitter to express her enthusiasm for participating in a Battle Royal at the historic women’s wrestling showcase.

“THIS WAS FUN!! Looking forward to #WWEEvolution #BattleRoyal. It would be great again! I wish?” – Alundra Blayze (@Madusa_rocks)

The tweet from the wrestling legend has sparked excitement among fans who remember her groundbreaking contributions to women’s wrestling during the 1990s. Blayze, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015, remains one of the most respected figures in women’s professional wrestling history.

WWE Evolution promises to be a landmark event for women’s wrestling, with the confirmed Women’s Championship match between Trish Stratus and Tiffany Stratton already generating significant buzz. The addition of veteran competitors like Blayze would add another layer of star power and nostalgia to the card.

Blayze isn’t the only veteran showing interest in the event. Michelle McCool, another former Women’s Champion, has also expressed desire to participate, though she has not yet received an official offer from WWE. The interest from multiple Hall of Fame-caliber performers suggests WWE Evolution could become a true celebration of women’s wrestling across different generations.

The potential return of Alundra Blayze would be particularly meaningful given her pivotal role in elevating women’s wrestling during its formative years. Her legendary feuds with competitors like Bull Nakano helped establish the foundation for the women’s division that exists today, making her presence at Evolution both symbolic and significant.

While WWE has not officially responded to Blayze’s public pitch, the company has historically been receptive to incorporating veteran talent into special events, particularly those celebrating milestone moments in wrestling history. WWE Evolution certainly qualifies as such an occasion.

As July 13 approaches, fans will be watching to see if WWE takes advantage of the opportunity to feature some of women’s wrestling’s most influential figures alongside today’s rising stars. For Alundra Blayze, the chance to step back into the ring at WWE Evolution would represent a fitting continuation of her lasting impact on the industry.

Nic Nemeth Suggests AEW Needs to Balance Tag Teams

0

Former WWE champion Nic Nemeth has weighed in on AEW’s tag team division, offering his perspective on the current championship picture during a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio. The wrestling veteran specifically highlighted the dynamic between dominant champions The Hurt Syndicate and rising challengers Jet Speed, suggesting that AEW should pay close attention to crowd reactions when developing storylines.

The Hurt Syndicate, featuring powerhouses Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, have established themselves as a formidable force in AEW’s tag team division. Their combination of experience and raw power has made them seemingly unstoppable champions, creating a challenging landscape for potential challengers.

Enter Jet Speed – the high-flying duo of Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight who represent everything The Hurt Syndicate is not. Where the champions rely on dominance and intimidation, Jet Speed brings speed, agility, and an underdog spirit that has begun resonating with AEW audiences.

“You gotta listen to the crowd, that’s who decides if it was good or bad that night or the next week they tune in,” Nemeth explained during the radio appearance.

Nemeth’s analysis goes deeper than simple David versus Goliath storytelling. He acknowledges the tactical challenge facing Jet Speed while simultaneously seeing opportunity in their unconventional approach.

Bailey recently revealed on YouTube that their strategy involves wearing down the champions through persistence and unpredictability – a game plan that Nemeth finds compelling.

“They need something different because they are going to get murdered. But oh? They’re unkillable? Okay! So, they’re gonna get their ass kicked but maybe, just maybe, if they hit it right together and they get rocking and rolling and with their speed they can steal a roll up and steal the titles and get out of there? Alright! I’m behind those guys,” Nemeth stated.

The endorsement from Nemeth carries weight given his extensive experience in both WWE and his current success in other promotions. His perspective highlights how effective storytelling in professional wrestling often comes from genuine crowd investment rather than predetermined booking decisions.

For AEW’s tag team division, this rivalry represents more than just championship competition. It’s a test of whether the promotion can successfully balance dominant heel champions with credible underdog challengers, creating the kind of organic crowd engagement that Nemeth believes should guide storyline development.

Whether Jet Speed can translate their speed advantage and crowd support into championship gold remains to be seen, but they have at least one former world champion in their corner believing it’s possible.

Grayson Waller Mocks Austin Theory in TikTok Video as WWE Babyface Turn Rumors Heat Up

0

The ongoing rivalry between Grayson Waller and Austin Theory has taken a comedic turn, with Waller recently posting a TikTok video that directly mocks Theory’s motivational speaking style. The Australian superstar’s playful jab comes at a time when WWE fans are increasingly anticipating Theory’s long-rumored transition from heel to babyface.

“You can do anything if you try. If you work hard you can achieve your dreams!” – Grayson Waller mocking Austin Theory on TikTok

In the TikTok video, Waller mimics Theory’s earnest delivery style before breaking character with laughter. He continues his mockery by adding, “And what I’ve worked out is that these people think they’re doing the right thing…”

The Tension Behind the Mockery

What makes this social media interaction particularly intriguing is the underlying narrative tension it represents. Austin Theory has been receiving increasingly positive fan reactions in recent months, yet WWE continues to position him as a heel character. This disconnect between fan sentiment and character positioning has fueled speculation about an imminent babyface turn.

Social Media as Storyline Extension

Waller’s comedic approach allows him to maintain his heel persona while engaging directly with fans in a format that feels authentic and spontaneous.

This type of cross-platform storytelling has become increasingly important in WWE’s content strategy, allowing wrestlers to develop their characters and rivalries in real-time while building audience engagement between weekly shows.

Looking Forward

The fan support Theory has been receiving suggests that WWE may be building toward a natural character shift, with Waller serving as the perfect foil to help facilitate that transition. His willingness to mock Theory’s genuine motivational content creates clear villain dynamics that could help cement Theory’s eventual face turn.

As this rivalry continues to develop both on television and social media, fans will be watching closely for signs of Theory’s character evolution. Waller’s latest TikTok mockery may be just the beginning of a storyline that could reshape both wrestlers’ positions within WWE’s roster hierarchy.

The all-women’s show, the first since 2018, is set for July 13, and while names like Trish Stratus have been announced, Michelle McCool says she has not received a call.

WWE Vault Reveals Alternate White And Gold Concept Gear For Bret Hart

0

For over three decades, Bret “The Hitman” Hart has been synonymous with the color scheme of pink and black. However, newly revealed concept art shows that WWE Creative Services originally envisioned a very different look for the Hall of Famer.

In a community post on the WWE Vault YouTube channel, concept art was shared that depicted “The Hitman” in white and gold gear, a stark contrast to his iconic “Pink and Black Attack” attire.

The artwork was shared on social media and shared the similarity to another legendary performer’s iconic gear.

Indeed, the white and gold design is reminiscent of the gear worn by “The Heartbreak Kid” in the historic Iron Man match. While Hart did wear other colors early in his career, his most recognizable look was adopted in 1987 when he and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart began wearing it as The Hart Foundation. The same WWE Vault post also revealed alternate concept attire for other legendary stars like Mankind, Goldust, and Triple H.

Matt Hardy Says AEW Ties Blocked WWE Hall of Fame Nod

0

Matt Hardy may be worthy of a WWE Hall of Fame induction, and the nod may have come years ago if not for his AEW ties. In 2022, WWE offered Jeff Hardy a Hall of Fame spot, though he turned it down as he didn’t want to be inducted without Matt. On The Ariel Helwani Show, fans finally know why a joint induction wasn’t on the table, as Matt explained that “I went to AEW at the time.”

Jeff was offered the spot as part of WWE’s attempts to keep him away from AEW. WWE had released Jeff in late 2021 after erratic behavior at a live event. A drugs test would later confirm that Jeff was clean at the time, though Jeff would join Matt in AEW. Despite this issue, Matt is confident an induction will come.

“Yeah, yeah, we’ll definitely do it one day.”

As one of wrestling’s most iconic tag teams, Hall of Fame rings are certainly warranted for Matt and Jeff. Matt’s tale reveals how business considerations can sometimes delay what many fans see as a well-deserved honor.

Saraya: I Lied To WWE After Failing Wellness Policy

0

Saraya was suspended from WWE twice in 2016 after violations of the Wellness Policy, marking a dark chapter in the Brit’s life. Not only did Saraya fail these tests, but she tried to get one past WWE when caught.

Saraya has since overcome her demons and is pleased to be enjoying life away from her dark past. The British star recently wrapped her time with AEW though has yet to talk with WWE about a rumored return. Speaking with SHAK Wrestling, Page reflected on his first AEW World Title reign and the lessons he learned.

“I felt that I had worked so hard for so long to win the World Championship, and that is where my vision was,” Page said. “But, I guess I probably did not take a lot of time in thinking what would happen the morning after, the week after, the month after. That is a different challenge… I feel that this time around in challenging for the World Championship, I kind of understand that difference a bit more.”

After losing the title three years ago, Page confessed there were times he thought his main event run was over.

“Yeah, I did not expect to be in this position,” he admitted. “To be honest, there’s a lot of times where I kind of thought that was it for me, you know, as far as these big opportunities… and you know a lot of that boils down to me, who I was, who I was deciding to be, and that kind of attitude that I had had did not lead me to these kind of opportunities.”

Bobby Lashley On Tony Khan: “He Gives These Guys An Opportunity To Voice Their Opinion”

0

AEW World Tag Team Champion Bobby Lashley has opened up about the differences between working for WWE and AEW, praising the creative freedom in his current home and taking a shot at the company’s critics.

In a new interview with WFAA Dallas, Lashley, who joined AEW in October 2024, first addressed the narrative that follows wrestlers who move between the two promotions.

“I think right off the bat, I know that the critics try to keep AEW down because anytime they talk about a WWE guy going over, they act like it’s a bad thing,” Lashley said. “I keep trying to tell them, I am not a WWE wrestler. I am not an AEW wrestler. I am a wrestler. I wrestled for WWE for a good portion of my career, now I’m a wrestler for AEW. That’s all you need to know me by.”

He then highlighted the level of creative input talent has in AEW compared to WWE.

“Another thing with AEW, you have a little bit more creative input. I think WWE, they had their agenda and what they wanted to do and you had to stay on course with what they were doing,” he explained. “I think with AEW, Tony Khan gives these guys an opportunity to voice their opinion, to kind of run their stories the way they would like to and they have some say in it. Of course, he’s the final say, so if he says no, no it is. But he gives these guys an opportunity to kinda hear their voice a little bit more and make changes accordingly.”

WWE Is Still Finalizing Plans For John Cena’s Last Match

John Cena is more than halfway through his “The Last Time Is Now” retirement tour, but the final details for his last-ever match are still being worked out. The Undisputed WWE Champion confirmed that while the match is set for mid-December, the location has not yet been determined.

Speaking with Page Six on the red carpet for his new movie, “Heads of State,” Cena was asked about his final year in the ring.

“Well, I don’t want to downplay the action in WWE. There’s always a bunch of action over there. And yes, I’m 48. My last match will be in mid-December,” Cena confirmed. “We’re still trying to find out a place to do it. But I said 36 dates in January. We’re halfway through. Gosh, it’s been a lot of compelling TV, and I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, but I think we’re just getting started.”

Cena’s farewell tour has been a major storyline for WWE in 2025, featuring a shocking heel turn and a record-breaking 17th world title win at WrestleMania 41.

Tony Khan Details AEW’s Role In Ring of Honor’s Growth

0

AEW President Tony Khan recently provided an update on possibly rebranding Ring of Honor as AEW: Ring of Honor.

Last year, Tony Khan, who now owns both AEW and Ring of Honor, reckoned that the ROH brand could have more value to it, if were called “AEW: Ring of Honor.” Now, almost a year later, Khan he discussed the potential name rebranding for ROH and share his thoughts on growth opportunities for the brand overall.

Speaking with WFAA, Tony Khan spoke about the potential name change for Ring of Honor. He stated that he still thinks that there’s a strong chance to develop ROH. However, he highlighted that individual promotions have unique structures. He further emphasized that there’s merit to make the huge change like that, but there’s a strategy behind how he’s currently positioning ROH.

“I still think there’s a great chance to develop ROH. We really have done a lot of work to develop ROH. They are unique companies, structurally. I think that does make a lot of sense, and I still think there’s merit to that, but there are also a lot of reasons why I’ve positioned [ROH] the way I have. Ring of Honor, I still think we have a chance to strike at great opportunities.

Tony Khan also noted AEW’s major media rights have positively impacted ROH. He feels that any major decision must make sense for both the promotions. He also praised ROH’s current champions Athena and Bandido:

“AEW has made huge media rights deals that have changed the landscape for all wrestling companies, including ROH, and any deal we do, it’s got to make really good sense for everyone involved, including us at ROH and also AEW. So, that is something I’ve considered… Right now, I think we’ve done a great job positioning the company as leaders, with leading champions like Athena and Bandido.”

ROH: Supercard of Honor is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 11th. On the other hand, AEW is gearing up for All In Texas on Saturday, July 12th.
