Taz Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery

0

AEW announcer Taz has undergone successful shoulder surgery. The update was provided by his broadcast colleague Excalibur during the October 15 episode of AEW Dynamite. Taz, a former ECW World Heavyweight Champion, has been a staple of the Dynamite commentary team alongside Excalibur and Tony Schiavone, and his absence was noticed by viewers. The announcement confirmed that the procedure went as planned and that the popular announcer is now on the road to recovery.

The news of the surgery first came to light on October 8, when Taz himself informed his followers on social media about the impending procedure. He detailed the nature of the surgery and prepared fans for his upcoming absence from AEW programming. In his post, Taz stated, “I will be having total shoulder replacement surgery in a short time. Therefore I will be off AEW Dynamite for some time. See you soon.”

This recent shoulder replacement is not the first significant surgery the wrestling veteran has had to endure in recent years, highlighting the physical toll his in-ring career took on his body. In 2024, Taz underwent a total knee replacement, another operation to address long-standing injuries.

His career in promotions like ECW and WWE was known for its high-impact, suplex-heavy style, which contributed to the wear and tear that has caused these procedures later in life. At this time, it is unknown how long Taz will be sidelined from his duties as an announcer.

CM Punk Takes Out Dominik Mysterio With Rhea Ripley’s Finisher At WWE Event

0

Following a televised episode of Monday Night RAW in Australia, WWE held a non-televised live event for the fans in Melbourne. The show featured an Intercontinental Championship match where the titleholder, Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day, defended his gold against CM Punk. The contest was part of WWE’s tour that also included SmackDown and the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event.

The championship match ended in a disqualification when Dominik Mysterio’s stablemates, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, interfered to save his title. The odds were soon evened as Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky made their way to the ring to support CM Punk. The two babyfaces quickly neutralized Rodriguez and Perez, leaving “Dirty” Dom alone to face the consequences.

The post-match action saw Ripley shove Mysterio, causing him to stumble and trip over Iyo Sky. This allowed CM Punk to recover and hit Mysterio with his signature GTS (Go to Sleep) finishing maneuver. However, the humiliation for the Intercontinental Champion was not over, as Punk had more planned for the Melbourne audience.

CM Punk lifted Mysterio and executed Rhea Ripley’s own finishing move, the Riptide. To add to the embarrassment, Punk then pinned Mysterio using Ripley’s signature “pretzel pin.” Punk then motioned for Ripley to make the count, and she obliged, counting to three as the fans cheered for the babyfaces celebrating in the ring.

AEW Star Thought Company’s Offer Was A Rib

AEW World Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs recently looked back on the uncertain and frightening period in his life that led to him signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2020. Before becoming a multi-time champion in AEW, Hobbs was facing unemployment during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was struggling to find work to support his family, which included a newborn daughter.

During a new interview with 96.5 The Fan, Hobbs was candid about his initial disbelief when he was first contacted by AEW.

“Frightening, because I just got laid off from my job. My daughter was, shoot, a couple months old. So it was like I couldn’t get hired anywhere. I applied at fast food spots. They were like, ‘nah.’

You know, it was bad, because I was overqualified from what I was told. But man, I got a call and QT Marshall actually texted me and I didn’t respond back for like three, four hours. So I thought somebody was ribbing me and I had a text from Cody Rhodes. Then I was just like, I gotta bet on myself at this point.

So, the story is already out there, man, it took off. I had a debut match against Orange Cassidy, then my second match was a six man against the Dark Order, and then week after week, I started showing up on Dark and Tony (Khan) gave me that okay, gave me that head nod, that opportunity, which we all want in wrestling. You want that opportunity to prove yourself, and he saw something in me and the rest is history. TNT champ, one third of the Trios Tag Team Champions. Can’t complain, man.”

He is currently one-third of the reigning AEW World Trios Champions alongside his partners in The Opps, Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata.

Samoa Joe Reacts To AJ Styles Crown Jewel Tribute

0

Samoa Joe has responded to AJ Styles’ recent tribute.

John Cena has been paying tribute to many of his career opponents through their moves in recent matches. His latest Crown Jewel encounter with AJ Styles saw The Phenomenal One busting out some tributes of his own, giving a nod to TNA veterans such as Sting, Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe.

During a recent interview with Forbes to promote the WrestleDream PPV, The Samoan Submission Machine was asked about this moment from the latest WWE PLE. The former AEW Champion claimed that it pales in comparison to his friendship with the WWE star:

“I mean, it’s cool. It’s really, really cool. Obviously, I’m super flattered, but I think my friendship with AJ over the years has always been super duper strong. So, I mean, any tribute always pales in comparison to the phone calls and trash talk that usually happen anytime we get together.”

Unyielding Amounts of Respect: Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe has shared the ring with AJ Styles in multiple companies at various stages of their careers. The two legends have squared off against each other and joined forces against other opponents in ROH, TNA and even WWE. While Joe’s record with John Cena is not as extensive, the two veterans did cross paths for a couple of matches under the WWE banner in 2017.

The former TNA World Champion noted that it’s good to be appreciated by his peers in this way and that he is honored and flattered by this recognition:

“So, yeah, I’m obviously more than honored and flattered. It’s good to know that your peers appreciate that sense, especially when it talks about the breadth of their career and what it means to them.

I’m beyond honored—it’s an awesome thing to see. I have unyielding amounts of respect for both men involved in that match, and I’m so happy that [Styles and John Cena] are getting their flowers.”

The WrestleDream PPV taking place from St. Louis, Missouri this Saturday will see Samoa Joe challenging Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.

AJ Styles Says Goodbye to Australia Ahead of 2026 WWE Retirement

0

AJ Styles recently shared that he plans to retire in 2026, ending an incredible and lengthy in-ring career. For fans, they will have one final year to see Styles in action live, and for fans in Australia, it appears their opportunity has already come and gone.

Styles was part of a WWE live event in Melbourne, Australia, where he faced El Grande Americano. Taking the mic after his match, Styles expressed his appreciation to the Australian fans, acknowledging that it was likely his last time competing down under.

I just wanted to thank you guys for being some of the best fans in the world. Here’s the truth, I’m probably not gonna be seen like this in a singlet here anymore, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.”

Styles’ comments come after his and John Cena’s instant classic at WWE Crown Jewel: Perth in October 2025. Other Styles highlights in Australia include retaining the WWE title against Samoa Joe in 2018 and interfering in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match at the 2024 event of the same name.

Questions remain about Styles’ retirement, including whether he will have a lengthy tour akin to the ongoing farewell from John Cena. Whatever is planned, Styles is going to appreciate every moment with his fans.

Alexa Bliss Says Her Time With Bray Wyatt Was The “Most Fun I’ve Ever Had In My Career”

0

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Alexa Bliss has shared some fond and insightful memories of her time working with the late, great Bray Wyatt. In 2020, Bliss’s character underwent a dark and dramatic transformation after she became entangled with Wyatt’s alter ego, “The Fiend.”

In a new interview, Bliss reflected on the creative process and what she learned from the visionary performer. Speaking with “In The Kliq,” Bliss praised Wyatt’s incredible creativity and the depth he brought to his characters.

“I always say it was the most fun I’ve ever had in my career, because it was such a fun challenge. When I first joined with Bray, I remember thinking, ‘I don’t wanna be the one to mess this up.’ Because he had such a cool thing going with the Firefly Fun House and the Wyatt Family and the whole thing. So for me, I was stepping into his world and I wasn’t gonna be the one to bring it down.
I remember when I first started working with him, he gave me this whole – because he does deep dives on his characters, deep, deep dives, all this research – he was like, ‘Watch these documentaries, watch these scary movies, watch this, take notes on this.’ And it really made me appreciate the fact that it wasn’t just doing research on your character – he created a whole world for his character. And that was something that I took with me, you have to know your character inside and out… and that was something that really opened my eyes character-wise.
He was a creative genius, and he saw the world of WWE in a different way than anybody else ever has, and he created this whole alternate universe within the WWE universe. And that was something that I found so fascinating, his creativity… It was so cool to not only witness but be a part of.”

Bliss also sharedher happiness that Wyatt’s vision is being kept alive through the new Wyatt Sicks faction and other projects.

“And the fact that we’re continuing his story with the Wyatt Sicks and we have the Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks House at the Universals, I think it’s so cool. I just love that the WWE as a whole is keeping his vision alive and keeping him alive. I think that he would be super happy with everything that we’re doing to keep it going.”

Matt Cardona Breaks Silence On His In-Ring WWE Return

0

“The Indy God” Matt Cardona has shared his first public comments following his shocking and highly anticipated in-ring return to WWE on the October 14 episode of NXT. The former Zack Ryder competed in a WWE ring for the first time in over five years, facing off against Josh Briggs in a hard-fought contest.

Cardona completely reinvented himself on the independent circuit after his WWE release. Following his return, Cardona took to his Instagram account to share a photo from the match and send a message to his supporters. Despite the loss, he framed the night as a personal victory.

“Thank you…
I may have lost the match, but tonight was a win.
I’ll never quit…and I’m ALWAYZ READY.”

Cardona’s last match in WWE prior to this return was on the March 9, 2020, episode of Monday Night Raw, where he lost to Bobby Lashley. He was released from his contract in April 2020. In the years since, he became one of the most talked-about performers in the world, capturing championships in promotions like GCW and the NWA.

IYO SKY Explains Unmatched Chemistry With Rhea Ripley

0

IYO SKY has explained her chemistry with Rhea Ripley.

The former WWE Women’s World Champion recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet. She talked about things such as what was special about her WrestleMania 41 victory, the WarGames trash can moonsault spot and more.

The Japanese star has formed a popular partnership with Rhea Ripley in recent times and the two even teamed to defeat The Kabuki Warriors at Crown Jewel last week. When asked why she thinks she has great chemistry with The Mami, IYO SKY explained that their different styles make them great partners:

“I think so, because she has muscle. I’m running fast. I’m so small, but I can flip and she’s not a flipping person, like so much the opposite. So that’s why I think we have great chemistry.”

They Shape Who We Are: IYO SKY

The High-Flying star also explained her love for wrestling during the interview. She discussed the difference between other combat sports and wrestling, mentioning how losses are just as important in the business as the wins:

“Wrestling is my life. It is hard to explain. So in combat sport, wins and losses are all that matter.

However, it’s only pro wrestling where losses have a value because they shape who we are and give us a chance to turn into something special. Additionally, in pro wrestling, it is important for a character to have weaknesses.”

SKY was on Ripley’s side when the former NXT UK champion picked up a victory over Kairi Sane on this week’s Raw. Asuka unleashed a post-match attack on the two afterward, however. The Kabuki Warriors stood tall at the end of the segment, signalling that this rivalry is not over just yet.

CM Punk Slams Those Who Wait At Airports & Hotels: You Are A Stalker!

0

WWE Superstar CM Punk has once again reminded fans of the importance of privacy with a strongly worded message on social media. Taking to his Instagram Stories, Punk made clear that those who lurk around waiting to accost wrestlers are no better than stalkers.

“We unfortunately have to have this conversation again. Do not turn up at airports. Do not show up at hotels. I cannot believe I have to say this. DO NOT FOLLOW PEOPLE. You’ve repeatedly been politely told no, respect it. You are not a fan, you are a stalker and will be treated as such. Respect the boundaries. Stop harassing people.”

image

It’s unclear if a specific incident has prompted this message from Punk, but this is not his first time speaking on the matter. In 2024, Punk called out fans waiting at airports for autographs, sharing that they often use their children as ‘shields’ to avoid criticism. Cody Rhodes recently shared that many who wait at airports simply get autographs to sell on for profit.

Punk will mark two years since returning to WWE next month, and has a future World Heavyweight Championship opportunity lined up. While Punk is pleased to represent WWE and appreciates his legion of fans, he has no time for those who take things too far.

Grayson Waller Reacts To Logan Paul Comparisons

0

Grayson Waller doesn’t take the Logan Paul comparisons negatively.

The Australian star recently had an interview with Battleground podcast. He talked about things such as his viral Meet & Greet moment, working with big names such as John Cena and Edge and more.

During the talk, Waller was also asked about being compared to the YouTube star. Grayson explained that he doesn’t take the comparison negatively at all, mentioning the success Logan Paul has had inside and outside of WWE:

“I don’t think that is a negative at all. Obviously, everything Logan’s done inside a short amount of time is very impressive. Look at everything he does outside the WWE. Look at the eyes that he brings to WWE.”

He Genuinely Cares: Grayson Waller

Grayson Waller then revealed that he actually got to work with the former US Champion when he first joined the company. Waller was in NXT at the time and since Shawn Michaels was not going to get in the ring with Paul for his training, the job fell on the former tag team champion:

“I could tell that day like he genuinely cares about what we do, and he’s very passionate. When you’re coming in as a celebrity, I think that’s, that’s the line that we draw in the locker room. Like, do you actually care about this?

Are you trying to get a payday, trying to get eyes on you? Are you trying to just take from us? But Logan’s not that guy. He genuinely cares, and he’s very good at it, and I think that upsets a lot of people, so if I get compared to him, I’m not stressing, but I also do think I set myself apart from Logan in a lot of ways.”

The 35-year-old later explained that him being a full-time talent sets him apart from Logan. Since the social media celebrity has a lot of things going on, he can’t be constantly available for appearances in WWE the way Grayson Waller is.

WWE Talent Disappointed Over Ridge Holland Treatment

0

The Ridge Holland situation is not ideal for WWE.

The English star announced earlier this week that the company had decided not to renew his deal and he will be leaving the promotion when his contract expires on November 14.

The announcement led to uproar on social media because Holland is currently out of action. Ridge has been dealing with an injury he suffered while working a TNA taping last month as part of the company’s partnership with NXT.

Fightful Select provided some updates on this situation to better explain how the release will affect the former WWE star, real name Luke Menzies.

The site revealed that Holland, who had returned to NXT in 2023 after a main roster stint, had been making less money recently. He signed a contract extension with the company in November 2024 after his original main roster deal expired.  This extension, however, came with a pay cut of about $200,000.

Some fans had praised WWE for deciding to pay for Ridge Holland’s rehab even after his release. The report notes, however, that the 37-year-old had not been paid anything extra for the TNA dates, and not paying for his rehab would leave TKO vulnerable to potential lawsuits.

The former NXT tag champion is expected to stay on the shelf for the next 6 months. Talents within the company are disappointed with the fact that the promotion will not pay Holland through this period, when he’ll be unable to work elsewhere.

One veteran talent said that something like this would have never happened before the pandemic and the whole situation is cause for significant concern for the locker room.

Fatal Influence Confirms New Member After Jazmyn Nyx’s WWE Exit

0

WWE NXT’s Fatal Influence lost a member when Jazmyn Nyx parted ways with WWE after choosing not to sign a new contract. Now, the faction is once again a trio as Laney Reid has officially aligned with Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley.

On the October 14, 2025, episode of WWE NXT, Reid was introduced as the faction’s newest member. Reid said that Jayne and Henley were “titans” of the NXT Women’s division. She added that a recent loss to Jayne made her realize that she needed to follow their approach and be dedicated to “winning at all costs.”

Reid confirmed that she was the one who attacked Nyx, a kayfabe explanation of why the ex-NXT star is no longer part of the group. After making her intentions clear, Reid was officially welcomed in by Jacy Jayne.

With Reid now joining the dominant faction, fans can expect to see much more of her on TV. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Fatal Influence.

Jeff Hardy: I Didn’t Think I’d Live To See 2025

0

Jeff Hardy is immensely grateful to be able to compete in 2025, a year that for a time, the former WWE World Champion thought he’d never see. When The Hardys sat down with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Matt shared what had changed the most for the brothers in the ring.

“The biggest difference between then and now is Father Time. The amount of abuse we’ve put our bodies through.”

Jeff then shared his somber reasoning, that he felt that he would not live to see 2025. Hardy explained his belief, sharing that the action and bumps he took in the early 2000s left him contemplating his own mortality.

“Tell you the truth, I didn’t think I’d be alive in 2025… It was madness back in the early 2000s.”

Not only are the brothers alive in 2025, but the veterans are thriving. Matt and Jeff recently captured the House of Glory Tag Team Titles, kicking off their fourth current tag title reign. At TNA Bound for Glory, the Hardys retained the WWE NXT and TNA World Tag Team Titles against Team 3D, in what is believed to be the final match of Bully Ray and Devon.

Jeff’s fears about his mortality stemmed from his work in the ring, and he did not reference his past issues with substance abuse. Nevertheless, both Hardy Boys are grateful that they can still entertain fans worldwide in 2025.

AEW’s Ruby Soho & Angelo Parker Opening Board Game Café

0

Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker have established themselves in the ring for years, and are now making moves in the world of board games. The couple, who married in May of last year, is opening their very own board game café, fittingly named Victory Roll, in Mishawaka, Indiana.

According to ABC 57, the café officially opens its doors on Thursday, October 16, and will serve specialty coffees, a food menu, and plenty of board games and role-playing games. Speaking to ABC 57, Parker reflected on how wrestling helped the pair realize their board game café goal.

“I think wrestling afforded my wife and I a life and ability to go into something like this. And I think it would be a disservice not to pay homage to the thing that really helped us get here.”

The wrestling connection runs deep at Victory Roll, whose name is itself a reference to in-ring action. One drink available is a ‘Stone Cold Brew,’ named after ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, and the café’s logo features a luchador mask. Championship title belts can also be found inside, cementing the connection between wrestling and this venture.

Parker and Soho are currently off of AEW TV on maternity leave after the pair welcomed their daughter into the world last year. With that in mind, Victory Roll will include games for younger guests as well as a children’s area for families to enjoy an experience for all ages.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Angelo Parker and Ruby Soho’s efforts, both in and out of the ring.

Former WWE LFG Star BJ Ray Seeks AEW Opportunity After Release

0

WWE recently parted ways with several Superstars, including WWE LFG standout BJ Ray. Taking to X, Ray has wasted no time in attempting to secure a job with AEW. On the platform, Ray tagged AEW President Tony Khan and told him, “Your boy is ready,” adding that he is a “Ratings Machine.”

With his brash, in-your-face personality, Ray quickly asserted himself as somebody to watch during WWE LFG. Ray made it to the final episode of WWE LFG season 1, but ultimately lost to Jasper Troy. Season 2 saw Ray make it to Episode 13 as part of the group of prospects led by Bubba Ray Dudley, despite often being at odds with the WWE Legend.

Ray wrestled for much of his WWE tenure with a torn rotator cuff and labrum, but that didn’t stop him from giving his all in the ring. Time will tell if a future in AEW awaits BJ Ray, as he’s certainly got big plans to become ‘All-Elite.’

Stevie Turner on Her WWE Exit: I Have No Regrets, Just Gratitude

0

Stevie Turner was among those cut from WWE in October 2025, bringing an abrupt end to her role as WWE Evolve’s General Manager. On X, Turner shared a statement, addressing her feelings now that her time with WWE has come to an end.

“I wanted to give it a few days to process my feelings and deliver a genuine message; I’m overwhelmed with love and I am so, so bloody proud of all I did as Stevie Turner. From working in ‘NXT UK’ in my home of London, to leaving it all and flying across the world and achieving a life goal by moving to ‘NXT’ Orlando.

I was 4D, a streamer, made history in the first ever TNA/’NXT’ match and became the Prime Minister of Evolve. I loved every second of everything I did, and despite not having the simplest journey, I’m proud I always gave 100% to everything presented to me. I have no regrets, no loss of love – just a heart full of gratitude and wonder for the future.

I’m excited to keep working on the feature film ‘Welcome to Paradise’ with Crucible Films and show what I can offer the world of voice acting/acting. And of course, I’m excited to lace my wrestling boots again.

“My one hope is that in all I’ve done, that I would have made my late tag partner Hana Kimura proud, because without her, I would have never had the confidence to push further for my dreams.”

Turner joined WWE in 2021, initially as part of WWE NXT UK before moving to WWE NXT. During her tenure with the company, Turner would see major changes professionally and personally, including marrying her husband Kit Wilson.

Wilson wrestled just over 50 times during her time with WWE and is excited to get back in the ring outside of the promotion. While losing a job is rarely a fun time, Turner is grateful for her WWE tenure and is ready for what comes next.

AEW Star Says Injury Will Keep Him Out of Action For 2 Years

0

Kota Ibushi will not be seen for a long time.

The AEW star has been providing updates on social media after undergoing surgery for a broken fumer recently. Earlier this week, he had posted photos with the company president Tony Khan who visited him in the hospital.

The Japanese star took to Instagram to provide some more updates on Tuesday, though this time a disappointing one for his fans. Kota Ibushi revealed in his latest post that it’ll take him a year to recover from the surgery. He will, however, not return to the ring for 2 years:

“My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”

Ibushi suffered the injury during a singles match with Josh Alexander during last Wednesday’s Collision taping. AEW aired the match as part of the show on Saturday. It saw Kota landing awkwardly outside the ring during a top rope spot after which he was counted out:

This is disappointing development for the fans of the 43-year-old as he had only returned to action in June this year. Ibushi had been out of action for nearly 2 years before that. With his age, it seems unlikely that we’ll see him being featured on top of the card upon his return.

Day of The Dead Match And More Announced For NXT Halloween Havoc

0

Multiple new matches have been announced for Halloween Havoc.

This week’s episode of the development brand saw the company start building the match card for the upcoming show with multiple big announcements.

The episode opened with NXT Champion Ricky Saints calling out Trick Williams for bailing on him in the men’s Elimination match at the NXT vs. TNA Showdown. Williams later attacked the current champion and it was announced that he’ll face Saints in a title bout at the upcoming show.

In a different segment, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. called out the North American Champion Ethan Page after picking up a victory over Lexis King. Page announced a match between the two for Halloween Havoc. Wagner Jr. then proposed the bout to be a ‘Day of The Dead’ match, which is expected to be an anything goes bout.

Apart from this, a rematch between Hardy Boys and DarkState, as well as an NXT Women’s Championship match between Jacy Jayne and Tatum Paxley was also confirmed during the show.

Seth Rollins Pulled From WWE Live Events In Japan

0

Following a suspected shoulder injury and a dramatic storyline write-off on Monday Night Raw, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has been officially removed from the company’s upcoming SuperShow live events in Japan this weekend. According to the updated ticket listings for the shows, Rollins is no longer advertised for the events on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18, at the Ryogoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo.

Rollins was originally scheduled for two major matches on the tour. He was set to face CM Punk in a singles match on the first night, and then team with his former Vision stablemates, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, to face Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Jey Uso in a six-man tag team match on the second night. The lineups for the shows have now been updated, with CM Punk scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio on October 17, and a tag team match pitting Punk and Nakamura against Breakker and Reed now set for October 18.

The injury is believed to have occurred during Rollins’s main event match against Cody Rhodes at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event this past Saturday. Rollins was written off of television at the conclusion of this week’s Monday Night Raw in a shocking angle that saw The Vision faction implode, with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed brutally attacking him and aligning with Paul Heyman.

Rollins is reportedly set to be evaluated in Birmingham, Alabama, to determine the severity of the injury and if surgery will be required.

Date And Location Revealed For WWE Elimination Chamber 2026

0

The planned date and location for the WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 Premium Live Event have reportedly been revealed. According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which has since been confirmed by Wrestlenomics, the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in the city of Chicago, Illinois.

It marks the return of the event to the United States for the first time in five years. The Chicago event will break a recent trend of the Elimination Chamber being a major international spectacle.

The last four editions of the show have all been held outside of the US, with Toronto hosting the event in 2025, Perth, Australia in 2024, Montreal, Canada in 2023, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2022. The last time the event was held in the United States was in 2021 in St. Petersburg, Florida, during the ThunderDome era.

The February 28 date places the show in its traditional spot on the “Road to WrestleMania,” taking place exactly four weeks after the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and seven weeks before the two-night WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. While a specific venue has not yet been confirmed, major WWE events in the Chicago area are typically held at the Allstate Arena. An official announcement from WWE is expected in the coming months.

Released Superstar Reveals His Post-WWE Ring Name

0

Just days after his surprising release from WWE, former NXT North American Champion Wes Lee has revealed the name he will be using for the next chapter of his career. The high-flying star has updated his social media profiles, reverting to his pre-WWE ring name, Dezmond Xavier.

The move is the first step for the 30-year-old as he enters the free agent market. It is a name that is well-known to fans of the independent circuit and TNA Wrestling, where he first made a name for himself as part of the popular Rascalz faction.

Lee was released from his WWE contract on Friday, October 10, along with several other NXT talents. His departure was the most shocking of the group, as he was one of the most decorated and popular stars in the history of the brand. During his time in WWE, he was a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion as part of the team MSK and went on to have a lengthy and acclaimed reign as the NXT North American Champion. His last televised match was on the July 29 episode of NXT, where he lost to Je’Von Evans.

Before signing with WWE in 2021, Lee competed as Dezmond Xavier, often shortened to Dez. His run in TNA Wrestling as a member of The Rascalz alongside Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz was successful. With his return to the Dezmond Xavier name, speculation has already begun about a potential reunion of the popular group.

IYO SKY took her usual moonsault to the next level when she hit her signature move off of the WarGames structure, all while wearing a trash can on her body. SKY’s move instantly went viral after her performance at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, but this feat was far from easy for the ‘Genius of the Sky.’

Appearing on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, SKY recalled the moment in question. While SKY has hit moonsaults countless times, placing the trash can on herself changed the move completely.

“I was standing on the edge and try to put my trash can and then I realized at that time oh my gosh I can’t see anything!”

SKY was momentarily stunned, fearing that she would not be able to pull of the move. Despite these fears, SKY’s determination to put on a show for the WWE Universe watching worldwide won out.

“[I thought] ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t, I can’t, I can’t do it. No I have to do… because camera is here so show must go on.'”

With Survivor Series approaching, time will tell if SKY is part of this year’s Women’s WarGames match. While the Japanese Superstar may struggle to top her performance in 2024, fans shouldn’t count out another viral moment from IYO SKY.

IYO SKY triumphed at WrestleMania 41, defeating Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship. For SKY, this win wasn’t just about retaining gold, or even beating two of WWE’s top women, but also about doing her family, her country, and herself proud.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, SKY gushed about the match and her victory. For SKY, her win proved how far Japanese wrestlers have come in WWE.

“[For a] Long time Japanese wrestler didn’t win at Wrestlemania. Even for women’s Japanese wrestler, first time ever in WWE to win in Wrestlemania.”

SKY’s parents made the trip from Japan to Las Vegas to see their daughter in action, and were crying as they saw IYO stand tall on WWE’s grandest stage. SKY shared that the match is her favorite of her entire career, given its profound impact.

“Here I have a lot of favorite matches, but yeah, that is totally special to my life.”

SKY was able to walk from and to the Gorilla Position as a champion after dispatching of ‘Mami’ and ‘The EST.’ Recalling the post-match atmosphere backstage, SKY was grateful to have had the chance to work with two of WWE’s very best.
