Willow Nightingale Confirms New Multi-Year AEW Contract

0

Willow Nightingale isn’t planning on going anywhere else. She confirmed that she has officially signed a new multi-year contract to remain with AEW, a move that keeps one of its most beloved talents with the promotion for the foreseeable future.

This news follows an earlier report this month from Fightful Select, which first indicated that Nightingale had agreed to terms on a new deal before her previous one was set to expire. Nightingale herself verified this during a sit-down interview with The TakeDown on SI, where she expressed her happiness and belief in both her own potential within AEW and the company’s ongoing growth.

“That is true, yes. I am happy where I am,” Nightingale told The Takedown. “I think there is so much left ahead for me to do at AEW, things that I want to accomplish.”

She also shared her deep excitement about being an integral part of AEW’s journey and development: “But also, I’m just really excited to be a part of something when it’s fresh and new and, like, you know, I think we’re past the years of finding our footing. But to have been a part of that and continue to water and watch it grow is just a privilege as well as a joy, you know? So I’m excited to continue, to take part in that.”

Nightingale initially signed with AEW in 2022 and has become a key figure on both AEW and Ring of Honor television. She is a former AEW TBS Champion and is reportedly currently involved in a significant storyline with the Death Riders group.

Lucha Libre Takes Over Dodger Stadium For Mexican Heritage Night Celebration

0

The spectacular pro wrestling style, Lucha Libre was on display recently at the iconic Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

As part of the team’s Mexican Heritage Night celebration, the event was stacked with live matches on the field and fans were treated with a dose of Mexican culture.

One of the matches that took place was a tag team match featuring The Wolf Zaddies (Bad Dude Tito & Che Cabrera) against Mariachi Montaña (Jose Calamaco & Ro Montaña).

A handful of “enmascarado” or masked wrestlers, a common tradition in Mexican lucha libre, competed at the event. It was further advertised that former WWE star Chavo Guerrero would throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Speaking about lucha libre, CMLL has also partnered with Airbnb which gives fans a chance to participate in a unique three-hour lucha libre training session in Mexico.

It is hosted by 52-year-old veteran Retro and the experience enables guests to step into the ring and learn the ropes. the training experience costs $216 per person and takes place at the famous, Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

Meanwhile, during WrestleMania 41 weekend, WWE also announced its acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA. The historic acquisition has significantly changed the landscape of Mexican pro wrestling.

WWE also revealed a new crossover event: Worlds Collide, scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The joint event will feature wrestlers from both AAA and WWE.

Sami Zayn Picks Non-WWE Duo As Wrestling’s Best Tag Team

0

Sami Zayn has shared the ring with some of the greatest tag-teams in WWE, but his choice for the greatest duo never competed in the promotion. On X, Mark Briscoe reflected on the anniversary of his and Jay’s wrestling debut. This earned a response from Zayn, who picked the Briscoes over the likes of the Hardyz, the Dudleyz, the Usos, the New Day and others as wrestling’s greatest team.

Mark and Jay are 13-time ROH World Tag Team Champions, a record number within the promotion. The pair also held the TNA World Tag Team Championships, GHC’s Junior Heavweight Tag Team Titles, and the IWGP Tag Team Championships.

The Briscoes as a tag team came to a tragic end in 2023, when Jay was killed in a car accident mere minutes from his home in Laurel, Delaware. Now, Mark has continued on, showcasing his brother’s legacy, albeit as a singles competitor.

Logan Paul Slams ‘Cosplay’ Champion Jey Uso Ahead of Title Showdown

0

Logan Paul will challenge World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event, in The Maverick’s third opportunity at a WWE World Championship. On his ImPAULsive podcast, Paul didn’t see his competition as much of a challenge ahead of this all-important title match.

Jey Uso, someone who in my opinion is very clearly a copycat. He is a person who is cosplaying a championI’m one of the biggest draws they have, if not the biggest. And the fact that I do not have a title on my waist right now is a detriment to the entire company.

Paul acknowleged Jey’s heritage as part of the Bloodline, a family that is home to some of wrestling’s greatest champions. While Jey Uso may be related to the likes of The Rock and Roman Reigns, he can’t compare to the two as far as Paul is concerned.

“You just don’t have that championship aura, dude. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. You couldn’t even come up with your own catchphrase, so you took mine... when Jey’s in the ring with me, he’s going to realize — and so will the rest of the WWE Universe — I’m the superior wrestler.”

Paul’s attitude both in and out of the ring has rubbed many fans the wrong way. While some take issue with Paul due to his part-time status or the controversies to his name, Logan believes that the hate he receives is often inflated.

Logan Paul hate is forced in the WWE. Say whatever the f*** you want about me — that’s negative. About my ability to wrestle. About my ability on the mic. Even about my ability to become champion and beat Jey Uso.”

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Saturday Night’s Main Event and Logan Paul’s quest to end the ‘cosplay’ reign of Jey Uso.

WWE NXT: Jasper Troy Makes Explosive Debut, Attacks Oba Femi

0

The May 20, 2025 episode of WWE NXT delivered the final buildup to NXT Battleground, scheduled for this Sunday in Tampa, Florida. The show featured a special musical segment with Joe Hendry and Trick Williams, but it was the intense face-to-face confrontation between NXT Champion Oba Femi and his challenger Myles Borne that became the night’s most talked-about moment, thanks to a shocking debut.

Myles Borne, who earned his championship opportunity by winning a 25-man battle royal on the May 6 episode of NXT, stood face-to-face with the dominant champion Oba Femi in the ring. The two exchanged words in what has been billed as a true “David vs. Goliath” matchup heading into Battleground. Borne, who is partially deaf and uses hearing aids, has embraced his underdog status, while Femi has been dismissive of his challenger’s chances.

As their intense verbal confrontation came to a close, the arena was suddenly rocked by the arrival of Jasper Troy, the recent winner of WWE’s “Legends and Future Greats” (LFG) competition. Troy, who alongside Tyra Mae Steele earned an NXT contract by winning the season finale of WWE LFG on May 18, rushed the ring and immediately attacked the imposing NXT Champion.

The 340-pound former collegiate football player (real name Antoine Frazier) laid out Oba Femi with several powerful moves, sending a clear message to the entire NXT roster.

This moment had been foreshadowed several weeks earlier on the April 29 episode of NXT, when The Undertaker appeared backstage and warned Femi about upcoming challenges from the LFG talents, specifically mentioning Troy.

Earlier in the night, NXT General Manager Ava had congratulated both Troy and Steele during a backstage segment, where Troy boldly stated, “I’m going to make an impact and it starts tonight.” The powerhouse certainly delivered on that promise, creating a memorable moment that has fans buzzing about his future in NXT.

The episode also featured matches including Je’Von Evans vs. Sean Legacy vs. Ashante Thee Adonis in a Number One Contender Match, Kelani Jordan vs. ZARIA, Chase University (Uriah Connors & Kale Dixon) vs. OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price), and Shawn Spears vs. Josh Briggs. The musical segment between TNA World Champion Joe Hendry and Trick Williams added entertainment value ahead of their championship match at Battleground.

NXT Battleground takes place this Sunday, May 25, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The event will feature Oba Femi defending his NXT Championship against Myles Borne, along with several other high-profile matches including Joe Hendry defending the TNA World Championship against Trick Williams and Stephanie Vaquer putting her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Jordynne Grace.

Latest on USA, TNT and TBS Spinning off from NBC, Warner Bros. Discovery; Latest on UFC TV deal, Other Business Notes

0

Comcast and NBCUniversal will be spinning off its cable channels into a new company called Versant.

NBCUniversal announced in late 2024 it was spinning off some of its cable channels else and other digital properties. NBCU announced the company’s name in a press release in May.

Among the channels moving away from NBCU and into the new company would be USA Network, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, SyFy, and the Peacock streaming service.

USA Network has been a home for World Wrestling Entertainment programming for over 40 years. WWE’s relationship with USA began in the 1980s and ran into the 2000s. WWE’s flagship Raw program was a Monday night fixture on the network until 2000, when it moved to TNN for five years. The show returned to USA in 2005.

After Raw left for Netflix at the beginning of the year, USA started carrying SmackDown. It’s the latest WWE show to air on USA, going back to Tuesday Night Titans, Shotgun Saturday Night, Sunday Night Heat, and a plethora of various WWE shows.

According to PUCK, the entertainment industry website, Rotten Tomatoes, Fandango, GolfNow, and other web properties would be part of the move. The CEO of the new company would be Mark Lazarus, who was questioned about the move at the MoffettNathanson annual media conference. Lazarus focused on the success of the company’s GolfNow app, which allows golfers in 52 countries to sign up for tee times, and highlighted the nascent company’s digital offerings.

WWE’s move to Netflix set them with a five-year deal, with possible renewals every five years after. Pulling Raw out of the TV cable fray, and the massive decline in households for major cable channels, was a move built to keep Raw and WWE out of the current cable and media fray. Whether Raw’s move to Netflix is a sign of a complete move to streaming may depend on how successful Versant is at keeping its cable channels as players and finding ways for them to gain homes.

According to Deadline.com, Comcast and NBCU would handle ad sales for Versant for two years. The launch/spin-off is expected to happen before 2025, according to a release from NBCU.

UFC, ESPN trying to work out issues

With the exclusive negotiation period expiring last month, Ultimate Fighting Championship is making the effort to work out issues with its partner of the last five years, ESPN.

ESPN out-bid several other companies and signed UFC to a 5-year, $1.5 billion deal in 2018. The deal has had highs and lows, many of them mirroring the struggles of cable and network TV.

ESPN would like to keep UFC on its programming, but the issue is cost. ESPN loves UFC’s dominant numbers among certain demographics, but ESPN’s homes have collapsed. According to John Ourand, ESPN was in 68 million homes in 2024, a number that had dropped from over 100 million half a decade ago. Disney hopes the ESPN streaming service begins a rebound.

UFC has said it’s seeking more than $1 billion a year in its next deal. Given the current media environment, that seems unlikely unless another partner is added to the mix.

Dana White and TKO also want to avoid the fate of Major League Baseball, which announced it is terminating its deal with ESPN after the network wanted to re-negotiate its current contract. MLB felt disrespected by ESPN for the lack of baseball highlights on SportsCenter and other shows, as well as the cancellation of Baseball Tonight.

But sports legitimacy thrives on being part of the conversation on ESPN. The network quickly cut programs and highlights of NHL and NASCAR when ESPN quit airing the sports. While MLB Network is a success (one reason for Baseball Tonight’s cancellation was the success of MLB Network among baseball fans), it doesn’t keep them on the one network that determines what’s hot in sports. UFC understands this well. It wasn’t all too long ago finding UFC on pay-per-view was a chore. Just ask Dana White what ESPN means as far as legitimacy and exposure.

Warner Bros. Discovery was interested in acquiring UFC at one point, especially after it lost the NBA last fall, but that interest has waned as WBD repositions HBO Max and its strategy around its current products, the NHL and much of its popular creative studio offerings.

CNN likely on the go, what about TNT and TBS?

While Versant will become its own entity by the end of 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to spin CNN off as well. The innovative and heralded news brand has suffered setbacks in recent years; unless there’s major breaking news, CNN hasn’t been the go-to in recent years. The recent upheaval of the network by David Zaslav was a disaster and cratered the network’s ratings and sent journalists running.

PUCK and other media publications believe a company heavy with local channels may purchase CNN – among the suitors could be Cox (which is looking to sell its own TV stations…) and TEGNA. Other players could be Gray, which has worked to get involved in the regional sports game. Nexstar, which owns the most local stations in the country, has spent millions building NewsNation into a viable property and news outlet, one built on competing with CNN’s audience, would seem to be out, especially having to navigate monopoly issues when it purchased the Tribune company in the late 2010s.

With CNN on the block for a spin-off, what does that mean for TBS and TNT? The channels are bleeding homes like everyone else, but marketing them as digital entities needs some more oomph. The NBA is gone, but the NHL is there. All Elite Wrestling is a success, and a regular in the top 5 of cable with strong streaming numbers, but not nearly enough to buoy two entire cable channels.

WBD could work to share properties with other media companies, maybe try to get into the NFL game with a deal with CBS (which it partners with for NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament), but missed the boat on the WNBA and Caitlin Clark-mania. Maybe college football? How a spin-off would work with TBS and TNT would be more complicated than Versant because of HBO Max’s position as a niche but powerful streamer with a ton of popular legacy properties, and no clear strategy for marketing TBS and TNT as not only channels but lifestyle or sports digital properties.

While WBD looked to have done well with losing the NBA rights, especially as ratings plummeted for the league early in the season, having the NBA deal would make those properties much more valuable, especially after playoff ratings this season were up over last season.

Look to the indies

The rumors of independent wrestling’s demise were greatly exaggerated.

The stronger and better-run companies are drawing well and putting together must-see cards from week to week.

Pro Wrestling Revolver dealt with a nightmare scenario, but still drew around 400 for a lively show on May 18 featuring Rhino, Rich Swann, Jessicka Havok, Alan Angels, Sami Callihan, and other stars on a solid card. Myron Reed vs. YouTuber BDE was a highlight, as was Jake Crist against Crash Jaxon.

The show was originally scheduled the night before at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Many would have canceled the event entirely; instead, the locker room and promotion put on a great show.

Support the indies, the indies are strong.

2K adds Tyrese Haliburton

As reported yesterday by SEScoops, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton will be a playable character in the WWE 2K25 video game. After watching Haliburton dispose of the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers, I’d advise Johnny Gargano and The Miz to run.

Correction

The original version of this story said NBCUniveral announced its cable spinoff plan in May 2025. This was not correct. The spinoff was announced in late 2024. The name of the spin off company was released during the first week of May. I apologize for the error.

WWE’s Perception of Damian Priest Amid Hard-Hitting Feud

0

Damian Priest has been showing how tough he is in WWE and it’s not just the fans who have taken notice. According to a new report from PWInsider, there’s been serious internal discussion within WWE praising the resilience of the former World Heavyweight Champion.

Priest has earned praise considering punishment he’s endured during his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, another tough individual on WWE’s radar. The pair battled at WrestleMania 41 in a Sin City Street Fight and would be part of the United States title four-way at WWE Backlash. During the match, Priest delivering a brutal elevated South of Heaven chokeslam off a platform and through tables.

During the post-show press conference, Triple H confirmed that Priest didn’t leave that match unscathed. “Damian Priest had a tooth knocked loose tonight.” WWE’s Chief Content Officer added that Priest was “hoping it would stay in his head.”

Priest hasn’t competed since the match at Backlash but fans eagerly await his return to the ring. His next clash with McIntyre is set for WWE Saturday Night Main Event on May 24, where the pair will battle in a steel cage match.

Both in and out of the ring, Damian Priest continues to show his toughness, impressing those backstage as well as the WWE Universe.

Mansoor Slams Spider-Man’s Attempt At Wrestling Success

0

Pro-wrestling has been depicted in wrestling several times, including in critically-acclaimed hits such as 2008’s The Wrestler and 2024’s The Iron Claw. This week, AEW/ROH’s Mansoor took aim at some portrayals of wrestling he finds less than favorable.

On X, Mansoor took aim at Peter Parker, who tried to become a pro-wrestler before donning the superhero identity of Spider-Man. From Parker’s look to a questionable comment aimed at Bonesaw McGraw, played by ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, Mansoor was no fan of ‘the Human Spider.’

The 2002 Spider-Man film sees Spider-Man beat McGraw in two minutes, earning a measly $200 compared to the $3,000 the promoter promised. When Peter seeks payback by refusing to stop a thief who steals from the promoter, the thief goes on to kill Peter’s beloved Uncle Ben.

Spidey isn’t the only fictional star to feel Mansoor’s wrath. After a clip of Shrek wrestling in the first movie was shared online, Mansoor had some strong words for the Dreamworks ogre.

Mansoor was with WWE for years but now teams with Mason Madden in AEW/ROH and on the independent scene. And for any fictional characters ready to get in the ring, know that Mansoor will be watching your work very closely.

Lyra Valkyria Talks Airport Perils As A Champion in WWE

0

Lyra Valkyria might be the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion, but TSA clearly haven’t been paying attention. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Valkyria shared how her trips through airport security with her title aren’t typically belt-friendly.

“That happens a lot. That’s starting to get old. I always have to allow that little bit of extra time. Maybe I should just whip it out. Maybe I should just go to the airport with it on my shoulder.”

Valkyria always travels with her title, mitigating the risk of the title going missing during transport. The Valkyrie added that the reactions from TSA staff can quickly show who is or isn’t a wrestling fan.

“I’ll always know if they understand WWE. If not, they’ll be like, ‘Oo, what’s that?’ Like, ‘What weight class are you in?’ And then I know, okay, they don’t know what we do.”

Not every airport experience is frustrating for Valkyria, who is delighted when staff recognize who she is or that she works for WWE. “Sometimes they get super excited and ask for pictures and stuff. And that’s always nice—like they know they’ve met the champion then. That’s a cool thing.”

While Valkyria continues to defend her title in the ring, it seems the real battle sometimes happens at the airport conveyor belt.

WWE Set to Sign European Wrestling Stars Aigle Blanc and Mike D Vecchio

0

WWE is reportedly in the process of signing two prominent European wrestlers, France’s Aigle Blanc and Belgium’s Mike D Vecchio, according to a report from Cultaholic. The two performers are expected to join the company by September 2025, following successful tryouts with WWE earlier this year.

Aigle Blanc

Aigle Blanc, whose name translates to “White Eagle” in French, is a masked wrestler who follows the lucha libre tradition. As is customary in lucha libre, his real identity remains undisclosed. He is known for his high-flying style and signature moves including the 450 Splash and Tombstone Piledriver. Blanc has established himself as a formidable competitor in the European wrestling scene, having won the APC Championship twice and holding the wXw European Championship in 2024.

Mike D Vecchio

Mike D Vecchio, born Mike Derudder, is a Belgian professional wrestler who currently holds the wXw European Championship after defeating Aigle Blanc for the title. He has competed extensively across the European independent wrestling circuit and has made appearances for major promotions including Impact Wrestling. Vecchio has previously held the GWF Berlin and World Championships.

Both wrestlers recently competed in All Japan Pro Wrestling’s (AJPW) Champion Carnival 2025 tournament as part of the B Block. They teamed together on the final night of the tournament to challenge for the All Asia Tag Team Titles against Yuma Anzai and Rising HAYATO.

The pair participated in WWE tryouts during the company’s European tour, which took place in late March 2025. Their signings would further WWE’s commitment to recruiting international talent and expanding its global footprint.

Blanc and Vecchio join a growing list of European wrestlers finding success in WWE, bringing their unique styles and international experience to the company’s roster. WWE has not yet officially confirmed the signings.

AEW Breaks Tradition, Brings All Out to Toronto for First Time

0

All Elite Wrestling has announced a major shift in its pay-per-view calendar, with its flagship event All Out set to take place at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on September 20, 2025. The announcement, made today by AEW, marks the first time the prestigious event will be held outside of the Chicago area since its inception.

“Scotiabank Arena in Toronto will host AEW All Out September 20,” the official press release states, with tickets going on sale Monday, June 2 at 10 AM ET via AEWTix.com and Ticketmaster.ca.

This move to Toronto continues AEW’s growing relationship with the Canadian market, following successful previous events including Forbidden Door at the same venue. Fans interested in exclusive presale opportunities can register at allelitewrestling.com/aew-insider.

The decision to relocate All Out comes as AEW continues to expand its international presence, having previously moved its All In event to London’s Wembley Stadium and All In: Texas at Globe Life Field in July 2025. The Canadian expansion represents another strategic move as AEW continues to strengthen its global footprint.

WWE Legend Kevin Nash Believes Rhea Ripley Has Star Power to Redefine Women’s Wrestling

0

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash believes Rhea Ripley possesses a rare combination of athleticism, psychology, and star power that separates her from her peers and could potentially allow her to compete against male competitors.

Speaking on his “Kliq This” podcast with co-host Sean Oliver, Nash didn’t hold back his admiration for the current WWE Women’s World Champion.

“Rhea is so athletic. She looks like she could go against probably 50% of the male roster,” Nash stated. “I even wrote a note that said she can work the men’s division.”

The wrestling legend continued his praise, emphasizing Ripley’s complete package:

“She’s a star, man… It’s tough to put her in the ring… She’s super over. She’s super everything.”

The Lost Art of Selling

Nash specifically highlighted Ripley’s selling ability—her talent for reacting to opponents’ offense—as a particularly rare skill in today’s wrestling landscape.

“I said a long time ago on this show that there’s so few people that sell and Rhea can sell. Like Rhea knows how to sell,” Nash explained.

The former nWo member also touched on the psychological aspects of Ripley’s matches, noting how her offense should be portrayed differently than her opponents’.

“A kick from Rhea to one of her opponents in this particular match should feel differently and be sold differently than a kick from Roxanne to Rhea,” he said. “All things are not equal. And I think that psychology has to creep into [the match].”

Nash’s appreciation extends beyond Ripley’s in-ring work.

“I’m not like an ink guy,” he noted, referring to Ripley’s tattoos, “but she pulls everything off.”

Larger Than Life Presence

Perhaps most fascinating was Nash’s discussion of how Ripley projects a larger-than-life presence despite not being as physically imposing as she appears on television.

“I thought Rhea was like 6 foot, 185 pound girl and she’s probably 5’7,” Nash revealed. “But on TV, the way she moves, she comes across as bigger than life, which stars do.”

Nash compared this phenomenon to his early experience as a wrestling fan:

“I remember when I was a mark and I saw Hogan work and I swore Hogan was 6’9″ because he was just bigger than life, his charisma, everything else. And then when I finally met him, he was nowhere near that size.”

The WWE Hall of Famer drew further parallels to movie stars who have similar qualities:

“Across all genres too, you know. Stallone’s a tiny guy supposedly. Tom Cruise, they say, is small too.”

He also shared his personal experience meeting Ripley backstage:

“When I saw her at SummerSlam, she was just with no makeup on, everything. She’s quiet and she’s really chill.”

The Championship Dilemma

Nash’s comments suggest Ripley could be headed for an extended championship reign similar to Roman Reigns.

“It’s so hard because if you give the people what they want, which is Rhea’s the champion, then she’s now in a Roman spot. She’s going to have the thing for four years,” Nash predicted. “It’s that kind of situation where you’ve got to use her to elevate [others].”

While acknowledging Ripley’s dominance, Nash did mention a few wrestlers who could potentially match up with her.

“Although Bianca, I think someone like Bianca or I think Jade… I think Jade will get there. She’s still green, but she’s improving vastly.”

With such high praise from one of wrestling’s most respected minds, Ripley’s position as one of WWE’s cornerstone performers seems secure.

Nash’s analysis not only validates Ripley’s current status but suggests her ceiling might be even higher than previously thought—potentially including groundbreaking intergender competition that could redefine her legacy in professional wrestling.

Shawn Michaels: ‘NXT is the Purest, Most Exciting Aspect of Pro Wrestling’

0

WWE legend Shawn Michaels believes NXT has finally reached a level of recognition and appreciation that matches its quality, calling it “the purest, the best, the most exciting aspect of all professional wrestling” ahead of the brand’s Battleground event.

In a recent interview with Brad Gilmore of Reality Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Famer and head of NXT creative expressed his enthusiasm for the developmental brand’s current momentum.

“It’s been just a phenomenal time in NXT and the excitement and the energy is palpable,” Michaels said. “I think everybody finally sees NXT for what it is. It’s just the purest, the best, the most exciting aspect of all professional wrestling.”

Michaels attributed the brand’s surging momentum to two key factors: their television partnership with The CW network and the passionate roster of developing talent hungry to prove themselves.

“NXT right now has been enjoying just incredible momentum. So much of that is due to the incredible partnership that we have with CW, but also just the young men and women that come through our doors,” Michaels explained. “They’re so hungry. They’re so passionate. All they want to do is eventually become a Raw and SmackDown superstar and you give every ounce of your being out there when you perform every night of the week.”

The “Heartbreak Kid” also emphasized the importance of getting NXT talent experience on the road, highlighting the upcoming Tampa shows as valuable development opportunities.

“When we get an opportunity to get out on the road, first of all, they’re just over the top excited about the opportunity to be able to do that, but it also is so important to their development,” Michaels noted.

“We do our best to harness it. They’re all like wild stallions and we do our best to harness it and every now and then they can keep a lid on it when they’re in Orlando, but anytime they get out on the road, they’re ready to cut loose in that ring.”

With WWE’s Memorial Day weekend takeover in Tampa featuring Saturday Night’s Main Event, Battleground, Monday Night Raw, and NXT, Michaels is clearly confident that the brand will continue to showcase why it has become must-see programming for professional wrestling fans.

Shawn Michaels: TNA and NOAH Collaborations Are Helping Create WWE’s Next Generation

0

WWE’s evolving approach to talent development now includes strategic partnerships with other wrestling promotions, a move that Shawn Michaels believes is accelerating the growth of NXT’s rising stars.

In a recent interview with Brad Gilmore of Reality Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Famer and NXT executive highlighted how collaborations with TNA Wrestling and Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH are providing valuable learning experiences for developing talents.

“When you’re in the ring with people better than you, you’re going to improve. You’re going to get better. You’re going to learn things that you didn’t know before,” Michaels explained when asked about the benefits of working with other promotions. “That’s one of the things that this TNA collaboration has given us.”

The partnerships extend beyond North America, with NXT talents also gaining international experience.

“The partnership with Noah having our talent be able to go over to Japan and learn that style, a different style, and have some of their superstars come over and be a part of our show,” Michaels continued. “Inamura has just been a huge asset to the WWE roster. The people love him and we love him.”

These collaborations represent a significant shift in WWE’s developmental philosophy under the Triple H creative regime. While NXT has always been about preparing talent for the main roster, the addition of inter-promotional experience adds a dimension that wasn’t previously available within the WWE ecosystem.

Michaels emphasized the overall impact these partnerships have had:

“All of these partnerships and collaborations that we’ve been able to have has helped our talent improve and has also made NXT the must-see show on WWE programming.”

As NXT heads to Tampa for Battleground during WWE’s Memorial Day weekend takeover, the benefits of these partnerships continue to show in the in-ring work of the brand’s emerging stars, potentially setting a new standard for how wrestling promotions can collaborate for mutual benefit.

Shawn Michaels Reveals Which NXT Stars Are Ready for WWE Main Roster

0

When WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels identifies potential future main event talent, the wrestling world listens. In a recent interview with Brad Gilmore of Reality Wrestling, the NXT Senior Vice President of Talent Development pinpointed which rising stars he believes are destined for the big stage.

Michaels, who oversees WWE’s developmental brand, specifically named NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer as the standout female performer.

“I think it’d have to be Stephanie Vaquer from the women’s side, our NXT women’s champion,” Michaels said. “She has just taken the entire world by storm. I think she’s somebody that already had an international name, but once she got onto NXT programming, the entire world, the entire globe and her popularity has just skyrocketed.”

On the men’s side, Michaels highlighted both NXT Champion Trick Williams and North American Champion Oba Femi as two distinctive talents with main-roster potential.

“I think it’s a toss up on our men’s side,” Michaels explained. “Trick Williams and Oba Femi are two guys with, Trick has unlimited charisma, but Oba also has a mystique and an aura about him. They’re two very different individuals, but they’re both guys that are easily superstars that people see are going to be Raw Smackdown superstars in the very near future.”

Gilmore reinforced this assessment, noting, “Oba Femi has a presence and an authenticity about him where you can really see him main eventing WrestleMania one day.”

These endorsements from one of wrestling’s all-time greats carry significant weight as WWE continues building its next generation of stars. With NXT’s move to The CW network bringing increased visibility, these performers have a platform to develop their characters before potentially joining Raw or SmackDown.

As WWE’s Memorial Day weekend takeover in Tampa approaches, featuring Saturday Night’s Main Event, Battleground, Monday Night Raw, and NXT, fans will have the opportunity to see these future stars in action and judge for themselves if Michaels’ high praise is warranted.

Killer Crossover: 2 More NBA Stars Joining Haliburton as WWE 2K25 DLC (June 25)

0

Indiana Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton has officially confirmed his inclusion in WWE 2K25’s “Dunk & Destruction” DLC pack during a special appearance on Monday Night Raw.

The previously announced downloadable content now has a confirmed release date of June 25, 2025, perfectly timed as Haliburton’s Pacers prepare to face the New York Knicks in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals starting Wednesday.

Perfect Timing for NBA-WWE Crossover

The announcement’s timing couldn’t be more strategic, coming just days before Haliburton faces Jalen Brunson and the Knicks in a highly anticipated playoff series.

WWE has been actively highlighting the existing rivalry between the two guards, recently resurfacing footage of their memorable confrontation from a WWE SmackDown event at Madison Square Garden last June.

Complete “Dunk & Destruction” Pack Roster Confirmed

While the DLC pack was previously announced, WWE has now confirmed the complete lineup:

  • Tyrese Haliburton – Indiana Pacers guard making his WWE gaming debut
  • Abyss – TNA legend and current WWE producer
  • The Great Khali – WWE Hall of Famer and former World Heavyweight Champion
  • Two additional NBA stars – To be announced in the coming weeks

This marks the first official WWE 2K appearance for both Haliburton and Abyss, with the latter never having competed on WWE television despite currently working behind the scenes as a producer.

Triple H Hints at More NBA-WWE Crossovers

WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H seems to be doubling down on the basketball connection, responding to recent comments from Knicks forward Josh Hart about NBA players wanting WWE involvement this summer.

“My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since Friday. #SummerSlam is coming to @MetLifeStadium in August…” Triple H posted, suggesting the crossover could extend to WWE’s upcoming two-night SummerSlam event on August 2-3 in East Rutherford, NJ.

The “Dunk & Destruction” pack is the second of five planned DLC releases for WWE 2K25, following the recently released “New Wave Pack.” Fans can purchase it individually or as part of the WWE 2K25 Season Pass when it arrives on June 25, 2025.

Lyra Valkyria discussed her experience becoming the  WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, revealing she wasn’t part of any creative discussions beforehand and only learned of the major career moment on the day of the show.

Valkyria won the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship by defeating Dakota Kai in a tournament final on the January 13, 2025, episode of Raw. This made her the first-ever woman to hold the title.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Valkyria shared her feelings about holding the championship. “[It’s brought me] A lot of confidence, it’s a big responsibility, and there’s a lot of pressure that comes with it,” she said. “But I think I’m kind of in control once I get in the ring… No one can take that away.”

When asked when she first heard about winning the title, she explained, “I never was a part of that conversation. I just find out on Mondays what I’m doing. I found out the day of. I was never a part of the decision or the conversation. I just showed up to work.”

Describing her reaction, Valkyria stated, “Amazing. I couldn’t believe it… it never hits me in the moment. It hit me when I was driving home… The title is just sitting in my bag… and I’m like, Oh yeah, that’s the Intercontinental Championship. I won that.”

Bray Wyatt’s Son Becomes “The Fiend” For Birthday In Heartwarming Tribute

0

Well-known special effects artist Jason Baker recently shared a very touching story. He helped make a special birthday wish come true for Knash Rotunda, the young son of the late wrestling star Windham Rotunda, who was famously known to WWE fans as Bray Wyatt.

Moved by the idea, Baker and his colleague Sandy Mimpson immediately started working to make the boy’s wish happen. To make Knash’s costume truly special and real, Baker noted they used the “Mask from Bray’s original mold.” The costume itself, made by Sandy Mimpson, was based on the original “Fiend” gear that Windham Rotunda wore.

Baker posted on social media that Jojo Offerman, Knash’s mother and Windham’s partner, contacted him with a request straight from the heart. “I had the honor of doing something that is so close to my heart that I’m still fighting back tears while writing this,” Baker wrote.

He added, “I got a call from Jojo wanting to fulfill Knash’s birthday wish, which was to dress up like his dad @Windham6 for his birthday party.” Baker ended his post with a warm message, “We love you Knash and Hope you had the best birthday ever!” and then added Bray Wyatt’s iconic call to “LET HIM IN! ??”.

Callosum Studios, Baker’s company, was a big part of creating the look of “The Fiend.”

WWE Has Strong Interest In International Star

0

WWE is reportedly showing “significant interest” in signing an international wrestling star to a contract. This development follows company tryouts held in London during WWE’s Road to WrestleMania European tour in late March 2025, which looked at many hopefuls from Europe.

While earlier news mentioned that English wrestlers Man Like DeReiss and Rhio did well at the tryout, a new update has come from Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan. Brennan reports that WWE has in in adding Spanish talent Zozaya to its roster after his strong performance at the London tryout and is actively “pursuing” him.

According to Fightful, sources close to Zozaya said the star from Madrid is due to finish his University studies in June 2025. It is also believed within WWE that any new talent signed from this particular tryout group would likely start working with the company around September of this year.

Zozaya is not new to the wrestling world, as he made his in-ring debut back in 2018. Since then, he has gained a lot of experience by wrestling for several well-known promotions, including Pro Wrestling NOAH, RevPro, CMLL, and PROGRESS Wrestling, among others. More news on Zozaya’s future with WWE and any other possible signings from the London tryouts is expected as it becomes known.

Lance Archer faced a major personal setback earlier this year when his truck was stolen earlier this year. Now, he has revealed that while the vehicle has been recovered, it was found completely stripped down to the frame.

On X, fka Twitter, Archer shared that he had received a call from the police informing him that the truck had been found, though not in the condition he had hoped. Instead, what remained was little more than a bare frame.

The theft occurred in broad daylight at a Costco in Duncanville, Texas. The stolen vehicle was a 2018 white Yukon Denali, customized with 24-inch rims, whitewall tires, and extra dark tinted windows.

Archer got his truck back, but it’ll be a long asnd expensive process before it is driveable, if that ever comes. His situation shows that the recovery of a vehicle isn’t always a relief.

Zoey Stark Injured In WWE Raw Match

0

An unfortunate situation happened on the May 19, 2025, episode of WWE Raw. It occurred during a significant Money in the Bank qualifying match involving WWE Superstar Zoey Stark, who suffered an injury.

Stark fought hard in a high-stakes Triple Threat match against two top opponents. Those opponents were the recently returned Kairi Sane and the former Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley.

The stipulation for the winner of this match was a spot in the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match, which gives the winner a chance for a future championship.

Stark went for a missile dropkick from the top rope during the fast-paced and intense action. However, she had a very bad and awkward-looking landing from the move, which immediately caused concern.

Following this rough landing, Zoey Stark seemed unable to continue wrestling on her own. WWE medical staff and company officials quickly came to ringside to check on her. She was then carefully helped to the backstage area so medical personnel could look at her more closely.

The exact type or seriousness of any injury Zoey Stark might have is not known at this moment. We wish her a speedy recovery.

NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton Joins WWE 2K25 Roster

WWE has announced that Indiana Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton will become a playable character in WWE 2K25. The revelation came during the May 19 episode of WWE Raw, where Haliburton participated in an interview segment with commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee to confirm his virtual wrestling debut.

Haliburton will be featured in the upcoming “Dunks & Destruction” DLC pack, scheduled for release in June 2025. This addition is part of WWE 2K25’s strategy to incorporate high-profile athletes from outside wrestling, expanding the game’s appeal to broader audiences.

The NBA star’s inclusion follows his rising prominence in basketball, having led the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals and represented Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics. As a known WWE enthusiast, Haliburton has previously appeared on WWE programming, including a segment on SmackDown alongside New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.

This collaboration continues the growing trend of crossover appearances between the NBA and WWE, further blurring the lines between sports and entertainment. The “Dunks & Destruction” DLC will be available across all major gaming platforms next month.

Roxanne Perez Officially Joins WWE Raw Roster

0

Former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez has officially been called up to the WWE Raw main roster. The news was shared on social media just before the May 19, 2025, episode of WWE Raw was set to begin.

In a video WWE put out for WWE fans, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce was shown giving Perez a Raw contract, which she then signed, making her move official. Perez is set to jump right into action on the May 19th Raw broadcast. She will compete in a tough Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying match against Natalya and “The Man” Becky Lynch.

Many have expected this official move to the Raw brand for some time. Perez made impressive appearances on the main roster earlier in 2025, including at the Royal Rumble and qualifying for a spot in the WWE Elimination Chamber match back in February. After WWE WrestleMania, she briefly teamed up with Giulia, but that partnership ended when Giulia moved to the WWE SmackDown roster last week.

Before she signed with WWE in 2022, Perez had a very good run in Ring of Honor (ROH), where she made history as the first-ever ROH Women’s Champion. Once in NXT, she quickly became a top star, winning the NXT Women’s Championship twice and also holding the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles with Cora Jade.
