Victoria Eyes WWE 2K Role After Homecoming Under Legends Deal

WWE legend Victoria, a key woman in the Ruthless Aggression Era, has officially reconnected with the company by signing a Legends deal. This week, the former WWE Women’s Champion shared her excitement over the deal during live signing on Whatnot.

“I was so excited about getting the Nostalgic Legends contract… That [WWE] is my home, and I’m just very proud to be a part of the company still.”

A WWE Legends deal allows for WWE to produce new merchandise for those who sign, as well as use them in video games. During the stream, Victoria shared that “I’ll be in the WWE games,” introducing a new generation of fans to the veteran. Her last appearance in a WWE game was in Smackdown vs. Raw 2009, released in 2008.

Though there are obvious perks to her role as a WWE Legends deal signee, Victoria doesn’t want to take advantage of her new role. When asked, Victoria made clear she doesn’t expect any freebies, even with WWE coming to her home town on San Diego for SmackDown on January 17.

“I don’t ask for free tickets. I think someone said, ‘Do you get free tickets for WrestleMania?’ I go, ‘Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? I wouldn’t even ask. I’d be embarrassed.’”

Victoria last competed for WWE in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match, which was ultimately won by Bianca Belair. With this new deal to her name, fans shouldn’t count a return from the legendary wrestler, which could spell disaster for WWE’s current women’s roster.

Victoria (Lisa Maria Varon) was part of the legendary Ohio Valley Wrestling Class of 2002, widely considered to be the most successful WWE developmental class in history.

“Vince didn’t like a lot of things like ‘very,’. Like you’re ‘very’ happy… Vince didn’t like that because he thought it sounded redneck-ish, stupid.”

Another word the ‘very’ wealthy McMahon discouraged was “that,” which he felt signaled a lack of proper diction. JBL gave the example in which commentators were required to specify whether a left or right arm was being targeted, rather than ambiguously referring to “that” arm.

JBL initially joined WWE’s commentary team in 2006 but returned to active in-ring competition in late 2007. Following Jerry Lawler’s heart attack in 2012, JBL stepped back behind the commentary desk, where he remained a fixture on Raw and SmackDown until 2017.

In a recent episode of the Insight podcast, R-Truth explained that despite his reputation, he doesn’t aim to disrupt his peers’ performances.

“I haven’t tried to break anybody, it just happens… A lot of people when they’re in a promo with me… I think their guard is up so much.”

In January 2020, Truth got a rare smile from Brock Lesnar during a segment in which Truth threatened to eliminate Paul Heyman from that year’s Men’s Royal Rumble. On the podcast, Truth named the segment as the one he’s most proud of and recalled a backstage bet.

“I was like, ‘What bet?’ He [Paul Heyman] is like, ‘That you can make Brock laugh’… And that was the most impromptu thing that just came off like sliced bread.”

It’s not just the Beast Incarnate’s who’s been rib-tickled by Truth. In recent years, the former U.S. Champion has repeatedly mistaken Triple Ha and Tomasso Ciampa for another.

Rollins opened the segment, welcomed by a serenade from the Houston crowd, and boldly declared himself—not Punk—as the real “best in the world.” Punk arrived shortly after Rollins quipped that Punk had “taken his ball and gone home” in 2014. The remark referenced WWE’s past critiques of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, who famously left the company in 2002 under similar circumstances.

The Young Bucks recently opened up about the creative changes that shaped their third reign as AEW Tag Team Champions, culminating in their loss to Private Party. The title change occurred on the October 4th episode of Dynamite after the Bucks had successfully retained the titles against Private Party at Wrestle Dynasty.

Speaking on the Tunnel Talk podcast, Nick Jackson revealed that their creative plans shifted multiple times during their reign, including changes to which team they would eventually drop the belts to:

“This last run we just had, we were supposed to drop those titles months and months before we actually dropped them, but creative changed I would say 4-5 different times in the last like six months,” Nick said. “At one point, we were going to lose the belts to a certain team. And then a month later, it changed to another team.”

Nick also recalled a pivotal moment when Private Party expressed interest in a long-term program with the Bucks:

“I remember Private Party came up to us actually and they mentioned about wanting to do like a long-term program with us. And we were like, ‘Well, sorry man, Tony [Khan] just gave us the layout of what we’re doing, and that’s not in the cards.’”

However, everything changed after the Bucks faced Private Party at WrestleDream:

“And something changed, and we ended up wrestling them in a match [at WrestleDream]… but we tore the house down. As soon as we got backstage, we knew, ‘Oh alright.’ It’s in Tony’s eyes. He was like, ‘I think we have something, I think we have something.’ And Matt and I thought the same exact thing. We were like, ‘We’ve got to pivot. We’ve got to change our plans again.’”

The Young Bucks ultimately dropped the titles to Private Party and were satisfied with the outcome:

“We were happy though because we wanted to put those guys over. They deserved the spotlight. It’s been five years now, so they were ready for a big push. And I’m just glad Matt and I got to give them that last shove before we left.”

Fightful Select reports The Outrunners were actually considered for the spot to win the titles from The Bucks. Following their title loss, the Young Bucks have been absent from AEW television but are set to return to in-ring action at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, where they will challenge for the vacant IWGP Tag Team titles.

As 2024 draws to a close, the professional wrestling community reflects on the influential figures we’ve lost this year. These individuals left indelible marks on the industry and in the hearts of fans worldwide.

Sid Eudy

Sid Eudy (December 16, 1960 – August 26, 2024). Known to wrestling fans as Sycho Sid, Sid Justice, and Sid Vicious, passed away at 63 after a battle with cancer. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches, Sid was a dominant force in both WWE and WCW during the 1990s.

He was a two-time WWF Champion and a two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, headlining major events such as WrestleMania VIII and WrestleMania 13. Sid’s intense persona and powerful in-ring presence made him a memorable figure in professional wrestling.

Kevin Sullivan

Kevin Sullivan (October 26, 1949 – July 2, 2024), the legendary wrestler known as “The Taskmaster” and “The Prince of Darkness,” passed away at the age of 74. Sullivan was noted for his significant contributions both as a performer and behind the scenes in World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

He began his wrestling career in the 1970s, gaining fame for his dark and villainous personas, leading several infamous factions, and feuding with notable wrestling names like Dusty Rhodes and Hulk Hogan. Sullivan’s influence extended beyond the ring as he was a key creative force in WCW, shaping many iconic wrestling storylines and characters.

John Klinger (Bad Bones)

German wrestler John Klinger, known as “Bad Bones” (May 14, 1984 – May 20, 2024), passed away suddenly at the age of 40. Klinger made a name for himself wrestling around the world for various independent promotions since 2004.

He underwent three different stints with TNA in 2011, 2014, and 2017, sharing the ring with the likes of Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe. His death was announced by wrestling promotion wXw, which is based in his homeland and revealed he was planning to retire soon before his passing.

Francisco Ciatso

Frank Caiazzo (November 5, 1975 – January 20, 2024), known professionally as Francisco Ciatso, passed away at 48. Ciatso began his wrestling career on the independent circuit in 1996 and made appearances in promotions such as NWA Florida and Deep South Wrestling. He also had brief appearances with WWE and TNA. In 2019, a documentary titled “Journeyman” was released, documenting his career.

Tony Jones

Tony Jones (April 6, 1971 – April 11, 2024), an American professional wrestler known for his appearances in the documentary “Beyond the Mat,” passed away at 53. Jones competed in North American independent promotions, specifically California-based All Pro Wrestling, Ultimate Pro Wrestling, and Xtreme Pro Wrestling. He also had stints in World Wrestling Entertainment in 1998, 2001, 2003, and 2007.

Sika Anoa’i

WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa’i (April 5, 1945 – June 25, 2024), one half of the Wild Samoans alongside his brother, Afa, passed away at the age of 79. In addition to his contributions in the world of professional wrestling, he was also the father of Roman Reigns and the late WWE star Rosey.

Virgil

Michael Jones (April 7, 1952 – March 22, 2024), known in the wrestling world as Virgil, passed away at 71 after battling multiple health issues, including colon cancer and dementia. Virgil began his wrestling career as Soul Train Jones in the Championship Wrestling Association in 1985 before moving on to the then-WWF in 1986.

He was best known as the bodyguard of “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase but also made it on his own, winning DiBiase’s Million Dollar Championship in the process. Virgil was also known to fans in WCW as Vincent, a member of the New World Order.

Rey Mysterio Sr.

Rey Mysterio Sr., a legendary figure in Mexican professional wrestling, passed away on December 20, 2024, at the age of 66. Born Miguel Ángel López Díaz, Mysterio Sr. was a trailblazer in the art of lucha libre, inspiring generations of wrestlers with his charisma, technical prowess, and dedication to the craft.

He played a pivotal role in shaping the futures of many prominent wrestlers, including his nephew, WWE superstar Rey Mysterio Jr., Konnan and Psicosis.

    These individuals contributed significantly to the world of professional wrestling, each leaving a unique legacy. Their passion, dedication, and performances entertained millions and inspired future generations of wrestlers and fans alike. They will be deeply missed.
