CM Punk ‘Dying’ to Work with Dave Bautista, Teases Potential Rom-Com

0

Fresh off his WrestleMania 41 main event, CM Punk has revealed he’s eager to reunite with former WWE colleague Dave Bautista – but this time on the silver screen rather than in the ring. Speaking to Deadline’s Rosy Cordero following WrestleMania, Punk shared that he and “The Animal” are actively exploring a collaboration outside the WWE universe.

“Me and Dave Bautista are trying to do a rom-com, maybe not together, but it’s a race. He really wants to do one, and I really want to do one too.”

A romantic comedy would mark a significant departure from the acting roles both men have pursued thus far. Nevertheless, Punk believes that a heartfelt film would allow audiences to see a more authentic side of both himself and Bautista.

“Dave and I are two emotional b**ches. We would absolutely kill that genre, guaranteed, him especially. I’m dying to work with him. What if we were romantically involved? Who’s not going to pay to see that?”

While Bautista has established himself as the more prominent acting star with roles in blockbuster franchises like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Dune,” Punk has been steadily building his acting resume alongside his wrestling career. He received high praise for his performance in “Girl on the Third Floor” and also appeared in “Heels” portraying a journeyman wrestler.

The potential Punk-Bautista collaboration would represent a noteworthy reunion for the former WWE colleagues, both of whom have successfully navigated between wrestling and acting throughout their careers. Bautista has primarily focused on his Hollywood career since retiring from in-ring competition, while Punk surprised fans with his return to WWE in late 2023.

Given both performers’ star power and their established chemistry from their WWE days, a romantic comedy featuring this unexpected duo could potentially appeal to wrestling enthusiasts and mainstream movie audiences alike.

Bautista Impressed With CM Punk’s Acting

When asked which other WWE star could become a successful actor, Dave Bautista spoke highly of CM Punk (Phil Brooks), emphasizing both his talent and untapped potential in acting. During a September 2024 interview with Buzzfeed Celeb, the man formerly known as “The Animal” said this about Punk:

“You know who I think I really overlooked as an actor? I don’t know if he hasn’t pursued it as much as he’d like to because he’s still heavily pursuing professional wrestling, but it is CM Punk, Phil Brooks. His potential in acting is pretty unlimited. I really want to see more from him in acting. I’d actually love to work with him because I think he has a passion for acting, but I think still his heart is in professional wrestling, and until he’s able to let that go a little bit, he’ll never be able to fully envelop himself in acting, but I think Phil Brooks is a great actor”

Samoa Joe Reflects on Champion Pressure and AEW Success

0

Samoa Joe has reached the pinnacle in several wrestling promotions, having held top championship titles in AEW, TNA Wrestling, WWE NXT, and beyond. In an interview with Express US Sports, the veteran reflected on the pressures that accompany being the main event performer and world champion.

“When you are the main event and world champion, you’re expected to make sure that the fans are given their full and greatest amount of satisfaction and happiness. That solely falls on your shoulders,” Joe explained.

Being a world champion extends far beyond merely headlining a card. As Joe elaborated, carrying the top title also means shouldering a significant responsibility for the promotion’s future.

“Holding top championships in professional wrestling is about being the reason people buy tickets and stay glued to their screens.”

Samoa Joe and Hollywood

While Samoa Joe is firmly established in the world of professional wrestling, he has recently ventured into entertainment beyond the ring. With roles in Twisted Metal and Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, Joe is expanding his brand—yet he remains firmly grounded in his roots.

“It’s all about knowing when and where the bread gets buttered,” he remarked.

Joe is currently in his first reign as AEW Trios Champion, teaming with HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata. Together, the trio known as the Opps has established themselves as a formidable force on the AEW roster.

Joshi Legend Meiko Satomura Concludes 30-Year Career with Emotional Farewell

0

The wrestling world bid farewell to a true pioneer on Tuesday as Meiko Satomura officially hung up her boots after an illustrious 30-year career. The Sendai Girls founder wrestled her final match at Tokyo’s historic Korakuen Hall in an event aptly titled “Meiko Satomura The Final.”

Career-Defining Final Victory

In her retirement match, Satomura teamed with her 20-year-old protégé Manami to defeat Aja Kong and current Sendai Girls Champion Chihiro Hashimoto. The finish came when Satomura delivered her signature Scorpio Rising kick to Kong, securing the victory in a match loaded with emotion and historical significance.

The celebration took an unexpected turn when Kong, Satomura’s longtime rival, requested an impromptu exhibition match where the two legends would team together.

This five-minute handicap contest saw Satomura and Kong face the formidable lineup of Hashimoto, Mika Iwata, Takumi Iroha, Senka Akatsuki, and YUNA, providing fans with one final memory of these joshi icons sharing the ring.

Stars Pay Tribute

The retirement ceremony featured a parade of wrestling royalty. WWE stars Kairi Sane, IYO SKY, Asuka, and Shinsuke Nakamura sent video messages honoring Satomura, while NJPW’s Hiroshi Tanahashi and joshi legend Devil Masami also contributed tributes.

The in-person attendance was equally impressive, with Japanese wrestling icons including The Crush Gals, Bull Nakano, Akira Hokuto, and Kenta Kobashi present to pay their respects.

In traditional Japanese wrestling fashion, fans showered Satomura with colorful streamers following the ceremonial ten bell salute, creating a visually stunning backdrop as the 45-year-old star addressed the audience one final time as an active competitor.

A Legacy Continues

Despite retiring from in-ring competition, Satomura made it clear she remains committed to professional wrestling’s future, promising to continue her work with Sendai Girls. In her emotional speech, she vowed to help make the next era of wrestling “even more amazing” while expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to her legendary career.

Satomura’s remarkable journey took her from Japan to wrestling rings across the globe. Her career highlights include appearances for WCW in the 1990s, becoming a fixture on the European independent scene, and eventually joining WWE where she captured the NXT UK Women’s Championship and worked as both a performer and coach.

As one of the most technically gifted wrestlers of her generation, Satomura leaves behind a legacy of excellence that helped shape women’s wrestling worldwide. While fans will no longer see her competing in the ring, her influence will continue through the next generation of talent she has mentored throughout her distinguished career.

On the April 28 episode of Raw, WWE confirmed that Rusev will face Otis in his first match back, scheduled for May 5.

The Bulgarian Brute made his surprise return to the company on Raw the night after WrestleMania 41. He viciously attacked Otis and Akira Tozawa, laying the groundwork for his comeback.

Gunther is Not Taking His WWE Backlash Match Against Pat McAfee Seriously

0

Gunther may be absent from WWE television, but he is well aware of the upcoming challenge awaiting him at WWE Backlash.

Following his storyline suspension for attacking Pat McAfee on the April 21 episode of Raw, Gunther has remained off-screen. On the April 28 broadcast, McAfee officially challenged the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to a match at Backlash on May 10, 2025. As he put it, “If I die, I die.” SmackDown General Manger Nick Aldis, who was filling in for the injured Raw GM Adam Pearce (also Gunther), reluctantly made the match.

Gunther, who did not appear live, thoroughly enjoyed watching the scene unfold. In response to McAfee being his next opponent, he wrote on Twitter: “??”.

Gunther vs. Pat McAfee

The match comes just weeks after Gunther 259-day reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion ended with a loss to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. Since his suspension, Gunther has reportedly been seen in London, indicating he may be spending time in Europe during his hiatus.

Pat McAfee, who transitioned to wrestling in 2020, brings experience from his matches at NXT TakeOver 30 and WarGames, as well as his main roster appearances. Notably, McAfee holds singles victories at WrestleMania 38, SummerSlam 2022, and WrestleMania 39, with his only premium live event loss coming against Vince McMahon.

Gunther, meanwhile, remains one of WWE’s most decorated competitors, having previously held the WWE Intercontinental Championship, WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and NXT United Kingdom Championship.

Buddy Matthews On Managing Rhea Ripley Relationship Despite Opposite Schedule

0

Buddy Matthews feels lucky to have Rhea Ripley as his wife.

Managing relationships within the wrestling communities has always been a hard task for talents. Even though the schedule nowadays is much more relaxed than it was back in the day, being signed to different companies with opposite schedule can still make things tricky.

The relationship of Matthews and Ripley is a prime example of it. The wrestling stars signed to AEW and WWE respectively, have different work schedules, which leaves them with limited free time to be with each other. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Buddy opened up about managing their relationship, admitting that it can be a pain sometimes:

“Sometimes it becomes a bit of a pain in the ass. But we just kind of lock in that well, she’s definitely on a Monday, whether she’s on live events or not, depends. But then if I’m on a Wednesday or a Saturday, then we get a couple of days in there. But we learn to work it out.”

I Don’t Need Approval: Buddy Matthews

After breaking up with Alexa Bliss in 2018, Buddy Matthews, known as Buddy Murphy in WWE began his relationship with Rhea Ripley. The former Cruiserweight champion was unfortunately released from the company as part of the 2021 budget cuts. He joined AEW in 2022. Despite the opposite schedule, the two stars continued their relationship and got married in June 2024.

Speaking on how they make things work, the AEW star explained that he’s truly married to his best friend. According to him, he’s very comfortable with Rhea and don’t need anyone else to feel content:

“I get kind of emotional talking about it; I’ve married my best friend. There isn’t anyone that I’d want to spend any more time with. I only need her. That’s it. I don’t need a massive group of friends. I don’t need approval. As long as I have her I could be the clown too, and we can just be chilled. I don’t need to go out.

Give me a pizza, my wife, a horror movie, and we are good. I’m on cloud nine, and then generally, I’ll fall asleep, but that’s because I’m comfortable. That’s a good thing for a guy, if a guy could fall asleep. So yeah, but she’s my best friend, and now I’m very lucky.”

Later in the interview, Buddy Matthews also talked about going on honeymoon with Ripley right after suffering a foot injury in his Grand Slam Australia match with Kazuchika Okada and more.

Receipt Is Coming: CM Punk Breaks Silence On Paul Heyman’s WrestleMania 41 Betrayal

0

CM Punk has warned Paul Heyman after his WrestleMania 41 betrayal.

The Straight Edge Star cashed in his favor to force the former ECW Owner to be in his corner at the Show of Shows. The tactic did not work in favor of Punk, however, as Heyman ended up betraying him and Roman Reigns, to align with Seth Rollins.

Punk then appeared on the April 21 episode of Raw but he didn’t waste any time talking. The former AEW star attacked Heyman and Rollins only to be taken out by Bron Breakker in return.

The former World Champion talked about this turn of events among other things in an interview with Deadline. CM Punk warned his former advocate, saying that a receipt is coming:

“Heyman has betrayed me before. We’ve been friends for a very long time, and friends fight. Since he’s betrayed me before, he knows how this plays out. He knows there’s receipts coming for him, too.

The betrayal and the mental pain, I think, are worse than the physical. I almost wish he would’ve done all that and stuck with Roman, because going with Seth was the real pain. But you know what? Seth needs him.”

Paul Heyman had been associated with CM Punk during his historic 434-day-long WWE Championship reign that ended in January 2013. Heyman betrayed the Chicago native later that year, costing him the Money In The Bank match and getting Brock Lesnar to attack him.

While Punk did not win at WrestleMania 41, it was still a monumental night for him as the WWE star fulfilled his lifelong goal of main eventing WrestleMania. You can check out how he celebrated after the show here.

CM Punk Reveals What He Did After His First WrestleMania Main Event

0

CM Punk’s post-WrestleMania celebration was not what you’d expect at all.

The Straight Edge Star got to fulfil a lifelong dream when he main evented night 1 of WrestleMania 41. Punk went up against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a triple-threat match that revolved around their relationship with Paul Heyman.

Speaking to Deadline in his first interview after the Show of Shows, Punk said that the whole thing was like a dream. When asked how he handled all the adrenaline after getting to the back following the show, the former World Champion explained that he needs to decompress after any such big moment:

“I’m 100% an introvert, and I think a lot of my fellow entertainers are too. Everyone’s always shocked, or they tell me that I’m not [an introvert], but I know me. For every hour I spend with people, I need two hours by myself. So when you’re having this intimate moment with 61,000 people, I live for those moments, but I need to balance and decompress afterward.”

The activities didn’t end with WrestleMania this year and WWE had booked many programs such as exclusive meet & greets as well as a roast for fans to attend after the Show of Shows. For CM Punk, however, the night after Mania looked very different as he spent the time in his hotel room with a few of his close friends:

“That’s why when I get invited to cool spots to eat and stuff like that, honestly, that’s the last thing you want to do after that. I went back to my hotel with four or five friends, and we ordered everything on the room service menu and just sat around the table and bullshit like family. That’s how I decompress from all that adrenaline.”

Punk ended up losing the match after being betrayed by Heyman. The former ECW owner turned on Roman Reigns as well and ended up joining hands with Seth Rollins instead.

IYO SKY Vows Payback Ahead of WWE NXT Appearance

0

On the April 28, edition of WWE Raw, Roxanne Perez and Giulia attacked Rhea Ripley, bringing Mami’s match with Perez to an abrupt end. After the match, IYO SKY tried to make the save but found herself out-numbered by the duo of NXT Superstars.

During Raw, it was announced that SKY will be a pasrt of the April 29, edition of WWE NXT. On X, SKY vowed payback after the attack in Kansas City.

SKY at WWE NXT will be a homecoming for the Genius of the Sky, who is a former NXT Women’s and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. Soon, fans will get another chance to see SKY share the ring with some of the very best from WWE’s silver brand.

This week’s NXT will also see plenty for fans to tune in for. In addition to SKY, NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints will defend against Lexis King. New NXT Tag Team Champions Hank Walker and Tank Ledger will defend against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura. Tony D’Angelo and Channing Lorenzo will come face-to-face while Joe Hendry has been invited to resolve issues with Trick Williams.

Five Figure Price For Seth Rollins Raw Drip Revealed

0

Seth Rollins doesn’t spare any expense.

The Architect has become known for his drip almost as much as his wrestling accolades in recent times. Even if his fashion sense is out of the ordinary, however, it’s certainly not cheap.

The former WWE Champion has worn many eye-catching outfits with jaw-dropping prices on WWE TV in the last couple years, and his outfit on this week’s episode of Raw was not any different.

The former Shield member wore an interesting coat while appearing alongside his new associates, Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker, on this week’s episode of the Red Branded Show. The coat has since been recognized as the one sold by Pakistani brand Rastah, costing a whopping $13,500:

Seth Rollins opened this week’s episode of Raw with Heyman and Breakker. He was confronted by Sami Zayn who questioned his motives and in return, Rollins offered Zayn a move to the SmackDown brand.

Paul Heyman later told Sami that he could get him a WWE Championship match if he accepted Seth’s offer. When the Honorary Uce refused however, he got a match with Bron Breakker in the main event of the show instead.

The young star dominated most of the bout and the match had to be stopped after Breakker delivered multiple spears to Zayn. The destruction didn’t end there as Rollins picked things up from where Bron left them and he delivered a brutal stomp to Sami to end the show.

New Glitch Appears On Raw As Wyatt Sicks Return Speculations Pick Up

0

A new glitch has appeared on Raw.

The Wyatt Sicks have been missing from WWE TV for a few months with a reported injury to their leader, Bo Dallas, but it appears that the company might be hinting at their return to TV.

WWE presented this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, which featured the follow-up for WrestleMania 41 as well as the build for the Backlash PPV.

Fans caught something unexpected during the broadcast as well. Logan Paul was shown walking backstage before his entrance on the show, and one of the screens showing the Raw graphic glitched as he went past:

The company has long used such easter eggs to tease the future of the Wyatt Sicks. With their long absence, it’s speculated to indicate their return to TV.

Latest reports have also indicated that Creative is set for the faction’s comeback, and they’ll be getting a new leader upon their return to WWE programming.

The glitch appearing on the Raw broadcast is an unexpected development as the group was moved to SmackDown during the transfer window earlier this year, but they have yet to make an appearance on the Blue Branded show.

Jey Uso’s First World Title Challenger Emerges on WWE Raw

0

World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso won ‘the big one’ at WrestleMania 41, but fans now have an idea as to who his first opponent will be in this title reign.

Logan Paul kicked off his promo on RAW to a chorus of boos and spoke of his WrestleMania win over AJ Styles before discussing what’s left for him to accomplish in the wrestling business. Logan said there’s not much left for him to do, except to win a World title, and beckoned for Jey Uso to come to the ring.

Before he could finish his sentence, Jey made his way out to the support of the crowd, and  said that he wouldn’t lose his title to some “punk ass YouTuber” like Paul. Jey promised to “silence the noise and that his feud with GUNTHER, one that saw his brother beaten to a bloody pulp, lit a fire under him under the popular Superstar.

Jey dared Paul to come get the title, earning an eye-roll from the Maverick, and Paul responded by vowing that he will take the World Heavyweight Title from Jey.As for Uso, Paul said he will do what he does best, which is “crash out, screw up, and lose that title in less time than you held the Intercontinental Title.”

That clearly got to Jey, who shut Paul up with a superkick to the delight of the crowd, and while a title match seems likely, no further face-to-face segments have been announced. All signs are pointing to the pair facing off at the upcoming Backlash PLE in St. Louis on May 10th, giving Uso his first major test as a World Champion in WWE.

Pat McAfee Set to Battle Gunther at WWE Backlash

0

Pat McAfee is officially set to face Gunther at WWE Backlash following a fiery confrontation on WWE Raw.

During the show, McAfee delivered an emotional promo reflecting on his rise through the ranks, emphasizing his hard work and determination to be a good person.

He spoke passionately about his loyalty, especially highlighting his close friendship with Michael Cole, stating that anyone who has an issue with Cole would have an issue with him as well.

McAfee then shifted his focus to Gunther, acknowledging warnings from friends and family about challenging ‘The Ring General’. Dismissing the concerns with defiance, McAfee declared, “If I die, I die,” before calling out General Manager Nick Aldis.

Although Aldis initially hesitated to lift Gunther’s suspension, he ultimately announced that Gunther would be cleared to face McAfee at WWE Backlash. McAfee immediately accepted, setting the stage for a high-profile clash at the upcoming event.

Rusev Vows to Hunt, Forgive, and Fix

0

A new vignette introduced Rusev’s latest chapter during the April 28th episode of WWE Raw. Reflecting on his past, Rusev shared that he once had it all, including a tank entrance at WrestleMania, before falling into the abyss following his WWE departure.

Within that abyss, Rusev said he rediscovered, redeemed, and repaired himself. Now free, he declared his intent to crush opponents not out of obligation but by choice.

“I will hunt the flawed, the arrogant, and those who waste their talent like I did,” he threatened, promising to hunt, forgive, and fix his adversaries just as he did himself.

Rusev made his physical return last Monday, attacking Otis and Akira Tozawa during WWE Raw.

Liv Morgan Is Taking Time Off From WWE

0

Liv Morgan will be off WWE television for the foreseeable future.

At WrestleMania 41, the Women’s Tag Team Championship changed hands when Lyra Valkyria and the returning Becky Lynch defeated the defending champions, Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, on the second night of the event. However, their reign was short-lived.

On the following Raw, in a rematch, Morgan and Rodriguez regained the titles. The decisive moment saw Morgan pin Valkyria after delivering her finisher. Following the title change, Lynch shockingly turned heel, attacking her partner.

PWInsider.com had reported on Monday that something big was happening with Morgan that would be revealed next week. On this week’s episode of Raw, Morgan requested time off from acting Raw General Manager Nick Aldis in a backstage segment.

The reason for that is due to her filming a big movie. It’s unclear how long she will be off TV.

Becky Lynch Revealed As Bayley’s Attacker, Sets Up Title Match

0

Becky Lynch has confessed to her actions, which sent the wrestling world into outrage and shock over WWE WrestleMania week. First, a mystery attack angle left Bayley lying and out of her scheduled women’s Tag Team Title match alongside Lyra Valkyria.

Lynch stepped up and replaced Bayley, teaming with Lyra to dethrone Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez and win the titles. The following night on Raw, Lyra was pinned by Morgan, and the newly formed tag team lost their titles.

Lynch turned heel after the match and attacked the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. On this week’s episode of Raw, Lynch kicked off her promo by revealing that she was the person who attacked Bayley.

Lynch attributed her actions to Bayley’s repeated attacks over the past few years and criticized her aspirations to become a bigger star. Lynch turned her attention to Valkyria, invoking the adage that the friend of her enemy is also her enemy. Lynch mentioned her attempts to persuade Valkyria to sever ties with Bayley.

Lyra showed up and revealed that numerous women in the locker room had cautioned her about Lynch’s true nature. Continuing her response, Valkyria declared that Lynch’s revered image was now shattered.

The segment ended with Valkyria issuing a direct challenge to Lynch for a match at Backlash, even raising the stakes by offering to put her newly won Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line.

More Ring Boys Join Lawsuit Against WWE And The McMahons

0

There was a new filing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland regarding the claims of negligence against WWE, Vince McMahon, and Linda McMahon regarding alleged sexual abuse by former WWE ring boys.

A recent legal filing has expanded the scope of the ongoing lawsuit, introducing detailed allegations from three new plaintiffs, identified as John Does 6, 7, and 8. According to POST Wrestling’s review of the updated complaint, these additions bring forth new accusations of child sexual abuse against former WWE ring announcer Mel Phillips, as well as a new allegation of child sexual abuse against the late former WWE wrestler and executive Pat Patterson, and further unspecified claims.

The new allegations (courtesy of POST Wrestling) include the following:

“John Doe 6, a Mississippi resident, alleges that he met Phillips around 1988, when he was 11 or 12 years old. After a WWF house show on July 14, 1989, he was told he needed to stay in Patterson’s hotel room while other underage ring boys stayed in Phillips’ room. In Patterson’s room, Doe 6 alleges he was given alcohol, Patterson played pornography on the television, and forced Doe 6 to give Patterson oral sex and vice versa.

In a separate alleged incident, in a WWF dressing room in Maine, Doe 6 claims he was grabbed in the crotch by wrestler Koko B. Ware with many other witnesses present, including Phillips, Patterson, ring crew member and later ring announcer Tony Chimel, and referee Danny Davis.

“In front of everyone else in the room, Koko B. Ware told John Doe 6 to get against wall [sic], pushed John Doe 6’s head against wall [sic], patted him down, and then grabbed John Doe 6’s crotch.”

The updated lawsuit states that most others in the room laughed, except Chimel, who “said something like, ‘don’t do that, let him go.’” Chimel later told Doe 6 that he shouldn’t be on the ring crew and that he should run away, according to the complaint.

The lawsuit identifies several potential witnesses, including former Community Relations Director Sue Aitchison, who worked for the company for decades until her departure last year. According to the complaint, John Doe 6 alleges that during another WWF event, he was wrestling in the ring when Shane McMahon, then also a teenager, accidentally suffered an arm injury. Aitchison, eventual WWE referee Mike Chioda, and Chimel allegedly witnessed the incident.

John Doe 6 alleges he traveled with Phillips to approximately 10 WWE events between 1988 and 1992, including WrestleMania V in Atlantic City on April 2, 1989. The amended complaint includes photographs that purportedly show Doe 6 in the audience during the event’s main event between Hulk Hogan and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. The faces of Doe 6 and other plaintiffs are redacted in the images to protect their identities.

Doe 6 also alleges Phillips sexually abused him after a July 21, 1992, WWF event in Portland, Maine.

Another new plaintiff, identified as John Doe 7, states he was around 14 or 15 years old when he met Mel Phillips in Philadelphia in 1974, the earliest of the meetings with Phillips alleged by the plaintiffs in this lawsuit.

Doe 7 alleges Phillips sexually abused him in the course of working as a ring boy at WWF events, including at hotel rooms in Baltimore, Maryland, where Phillips gave him alcohol. The lawsuit states in detail how Doe 7 was allegedly sexually abused by Phillips, which includes allegations of forced oral sex.

Each of the five initial plaintiffs alleged they were sexually abused by Phillips when they were minors.

The lawsuit acknowledges that Vince McMahon was a commentator at the time Doe 7 was allegedly abused. Vincent J. McMahon was still in charge of the wrestling company at the time. Nonetheless, it’s alleged that the younger McMahon still had leadership responsibilities.

The younger Vince McMahon “acted and was treated by others as the de facto WWE boss, especially when on-site for WWE shows,” the plaintiffs’ attorney stated.

Doe 7 also claims he was abused by Phillips away from WWF events, at the Philadelphia Police Athletic League, and a church in West Philadelphia. Phillips sometimes recorded the abuse with a video camera, according to the filing.

The third new plaintiff, John Doe 8, claims he met Phillips when he was around 15 years old in 1982 in Baltimore while working concessions at the Baltimore Civic Center.

Doe 8, who is now a citizen of Nevada, claims Phillips asked him to come to a WWF show on or around March 13, 1982. At that event, Doe 8 and another ring boy were allegedly given marijuana.

Before another WWF event in Baltimore on April 10, 1982, Doe 8 alleges Phillips sexually abused him and another underage ring boy at a hotel. In Phillips’ room, Doe 8 alleges the ring announcer told the boys to get undressed. While wearing only underwear, Phillips allegedly put the boys’ “feet on his penis to compare sizes. Phillips was aroused.” The boys were also allegedly offered cocaine and pills by Phillips.”

According to Thurston’s analysis, the complaint attempts to establish a duty of care owed by WWE and its executives to the “ring boys” by highlighting that they received compensation, even if informal. The lawsuit argues that this compensation, combined with allegations of supervision and travel arrangements facilitated by the company, demonstrates that these underage individuals were not merely volunteers or independent bystanders. Instead, they were individuals for whom the WWF held a responsibility.

WWE has previously contested the legal concept of “successor liability,” arguing that the plaintiffs have not adequately demonstrated why the current company or TKO should be held legally responsible for the alleged actions of WWF personnel that occurred in the 1980s.

Furthermore, WWE addressed the plaintiffs’ claim that Phillips hired them, stating that this alleged hiring by Phillips does not establish a direct link or liability for the company regarding the former ring boys. WWE pointed out that the complaint itself alleges that “Phillips hired Plaintiffs and that Phillips paid Plaintiffs money for the work he requested.”

Pat McAfee Ready To Address GUNTHER Attack on WWE Raw

0

Pat McAfee will return to WWE Raw on April 28 in Kansas City, where he plans to address the shocking events from last week’s show. During the April 21 episode, McAfee was violently choked out by former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, who was enraged over his World Heavyweight Title loss to Jey Uso.

GUNTHER began his April 21 tirade by berating Michael Cole, which prompted McAfee to defend his broadcast partner. The Ring General then attacked McAfee, locking him in a sleeper hold for nearly a minute. The assault left McAfee unable to continue commentating for the remainder of the show, with SmackDown’s Joe Tessitore stepping in behind the desk. McAfee was later evaluated at a Las Vegas hospital.

In response to the attack, WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that GUNTHER has been fined and suspended indefinitely for his actions against both Cole and McAfee. Pearce confirmed that McAfee would return to Raw on April 28 to address the incident and send a message to the Ring General.

On his own show, McAfee discussed his upcoming segment:

“I think I have to address GUNTHER tonight. I appreciate Adam Pearce suspending GUNTHER. By showing up to Raw, I’ll have a chance to share my thoughts. The wrestling world is crazy—Steve Austin said ‘you’ve gotta keep your head on a swivel,’ and The Rock warned me not to turn my back on anybody in this business. I’m now going to heed their advice.”

Fans are eager to see how McAfee will respond to GUNTHER’s brutal assault and whether this confrontation will set the stage for an in-ring showdown when the Austrian’s suspension is lifted. While Pearce won’t be on the show, with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis stepping in, fans can expect that Raw’s authority figure will be keenly interested in what McAfee has to say.

Bryan Danielson On The One Thing AEW Needs to Reach WWE

0

AEW has been in business for six years now and has provided WWE with its most direct competition in a generation. Speaking to the Daily Star, Bryan Danielson discussed what Tony Khan’s promotion needs to truly reach WWE’s level.

“One of the things that I think is time. We’ve got this incredible TV rights deal, we sold 80,000 tickets to Wembley Stadium… But all that stuff’s just going to take time.”

One massive advantage AEW has, according to Danielson, is Khan himself. Describing Khan as “super kind” and of a similar mindset, Bryan is pleased to have the AEW President as a boss and a friend.

“He’s very in tune with what wrestling fans want… he always tries to treat people with respect and kindness no matter where they are on.”

Building a company takes more than just the right leader, but a roster of talented individuals hungry to succeed. When asked what his strategy when building a promotion would be, Danielson said he’d “hire somebody who knows what they’re doing” and build around key talents like “Will Osprey, Swerve Strickland, John Moxley and Kenny Omega.”

Rising Stars to Watch

When discussing rising talents to watch, Danielson expressed strong support for Daniel Garcia, praising “his connection with the audience,” and highlighted Willow Nightingale, noting “she just has a great energy about her.” As AEW continues to introduce new talent to its roster, Bryan Danielson is keeping a close eye on the stars of tomorrow.

Naomi Opens Up About Family Planning, Marriage, and Career Philosophy

0

In a candid and revealing interview on the Nikki and Brie podcast, WWE Superstar Naomi shared intimate thoughts about her potential family plans, her marriage to fellow wrestler Jimmy Uso (Jonathan Fatu), and her resilient approach to career challenges.

She spoke openly about facing personal crossroads while balancing her wrestling career with her desire to start a family.

During the heartfelt conversation with the Bella Twins, Naomi addressed the difficult reality of considering stepping away from the ring to focus on family planning.

“I definitely won’t… you know, I have to step away and take care of my health, take care of myself. And if we’re going to have kids, I have to start that process like very soon. I never thought I’d be here struggling with this decision. I always wanted kids young. I always wanted a lot. But now I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ your girl is getting up there. I’m 37 and my biological clock… I can’t continue wrestling forever. I’ve had health issues, I only have one ovary. Even if I wanted to continue longer, I can’t ignore it anymore.”

The multi-time World Champion also reflected on her relationship with husband Jimmy Uso, particularly how their time apart during her stint in WWE while he was working elsewhere provided unexpected personal growth for both of them.

“I thought I liked it at first — being apart — and I thought it was a good break and I needed it because I’m so clingy to John. I rely on him for everything. So it was good growth for me to be more confident in myself, trust myself in the ring, not ask him a million questions about my matches, traveling and seeing the world by myself. It was big growth for me. And for him too, not having me there to keep that knucklehead out of trouble. After almost a year, though, I was like, ‘Okay, Mama’s coming home.’ We just missed traveling and working together.”

Despite the challenges she’s faced both personally and professionally, Naomi shared the motivational philosophy that has guided her through her WWE journey and beyond.

“My favorite quote is, ‘Don’t follow your dreams, chase them.’ And I feel like that’s kind of what has happened through my career. I’m still chasing. And things are still happening for me.

Doors closed on me, and it could have been so easy to fall into a negative place, but by trusting the path — even when it looked different — it opened up five other doors I never even saw coming.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke about embracing her role as a veteran in the WWE locker room, and a recent event that reignited her passion for WWE.

Naomi Embracing Being a Locker Room Leader, What Reignited Her Passion

0

WWE superstar Naomi opened up on the Nikki and Brie Show, revealing how a tough career moment eventually reignited her passion for wrestling — and how she’s stepped into a leadership role within WWE’s women’s division.

During her appearance, Naomi discussed the pivotal role acting in the film Queen of the Ring played in lifting her out of a low point.

“It was during the time cuz it was when I was gone and I was in TNA at the time. Just going through like that very weird and difficult transition in my career, and not sure of what my future in wrestling was going to be,” she said.

“That opportunity came and it just completely reignited everything in me — especially when I got to dive into Ethel Johnson, her history as one of the pioneers of Black women in wrestling, what they went through, the doors they broke down.”

Naomi emphasized how connecting with Johnson’s story gave her the strength to persevere.

“Seeing their story, I was like, ‘Man, I gotta keep going.’ Like, if they can get through all of that, I can certainly handle what I got going on right now.”

Locker Room Veteran

The conversation also turned to Naomi’s evolving role backstage. With veterans like the Bella Twins now retired, Naomi finds herself a mentor to the next generation.

“I kind of never really looked at it that way or thought of it that way because I’ve just always been here, doing me, doing my thing,” she shared.

“But I do see now, especially with my Bellas not being there, and a lot of our vets that are gone now, that the younger girls are coming in, asking questions, wanting help with things.

So I do find myself giving input and advice — it feels weird sometimes — but I definitely am now. Whatever I can do to elevate and keep this division moving forward.”

With a renewed passion and a growing leadership role, Naomi continues to cement her place as both a trailblazer and mentor in professional wrestling.

Rey Mysterio Set for Surgery Following Torn Abductor Muscle Injury

Rey Mysterio has officially confirmed he will undergo surgery to repair a torn abductor muscle, the injury that forced him out of WrestleMania 41.

Sharing the news through Instagram stories, Mysterio addressed fans directly, revealing the full extent of the injury sustained during a six-man tag team match on WWE SmackDown. During the match, Mysterio teamed with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix against American Made’s Brutus Creed, Chad Gable, and Julius Creed.

Originally, Mysterio was scheduled to face El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41. Following his injury, Rey Fenix stepped in as his replacement, though El Grande Americano ultimately claimed victory at the event.

Despite his legendary resilience, this latest setback serves as a reminder of the physical toll Mysterio has endured throughout his career. With surgery now ahead, the future Hall of Famer turns his focus to recovery, aiming for yet another comeback when the time is right.
