Ronda Rousey ‘Encouraged’ By Progress Of Women In Combat Sports

0

Ronda Rousey believes women’s wrestling in WWE is taking steps forward again now that Vince McMahon is no longer in charge of bookings.

The former WWE star recently had an interview with TV Insider to promote her new graphic novel ‘Expecting the Unexpected.’ The Kickstarter campaign for the novel is set to be launched on July 25.

Rousey, who is considered a trailblazer for women’s combat sports across the board was asked for her thoughts the current state of female performers in WWE, UFC and beyond. The former Raw Women’s Champion mentioned how women are being taken more seriously now:

“I think women in combat sports everywhere are succeeding more than ever before because people are taking them seriously. I think that being able to prove that women can fight and be exciting and dynamic. There has been this ripple effect on boxing, UFC, pro wrestling, and even Olympic wrestling.”

We Are Taking Steps Forward Again: Ronda Rousey

Speaking specifically about the world of pro wrestling and WWE, Ronda Rousey explained that things have gotten better since Vince McMahon was forced out of WWE:

“There was a point after we had the main event of WrestleMania that I feel like WWE took several steps back, but now that Vince McMahon is gone and Triple H is at the helm, I feel we are taking steps forward again. I’m extremely encouraged by what is happening across the entire industry.”

Vince McMahon had to resign from his post on the TKO board in January this year after former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing him of sex trafficking among other things.

The Department of Justice has since launched their own investigation of the matter. On May 30, it was revealed that Grant had agreed to stay her case for 6 months at their request.

Ronda Rousey also recently talked about the potential of a UFC return somewhere down the line. You can check out what she said here.

Roxanne Perez Hopeful CM Punk Will Help Make Match With AJ Lee Happen

0

Fans of AJ Lee could see her back in the ring in the future, if Roxanne Perez and Lee’s husband CM Punk have anything to say about it. It’s been over nine years since the former WWE Divas Champion competed in WWE, with her final match being on the post-WrestleMania 31 RAW in 2015.

With the return of CM Punk last November, fans of Lee have been hopeful she too will make a comeback to the squared circle. Speaking to Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Perez shared that both she and Punk are pulling for a return to happen (h/t POST Wrestling.)

“I try (to talk to CM Punk about convincing A.J. Lee to return) but he tells me that he’s doing the same thing. He’s trying to get her to come back, he’s pulling her in but, I hope one day she decides to come back and have a match with me.”

Perez said in April of this year that she can’t retire from wrestling until she’s had her dream match with AJ. At just 22 years old, the two-time and reigning NXT Women’s Champion has plenty of time left in the ring for the dream match to happen.

In April, a rumor went around that WWE was actively working on recruiting AJ but that she wanted a memorable return rather than a one-off appearance. We later confirmed that this rumor was not true, and while she is well-liked and respected in WWE, her return was not a topic of discussion. At the WWE Money in the Bank post-show event, CM Punk also downplayed the idea of his wife’s return, saying he didn’t want to give fans false hope and is proud of AJ for “doing her own thing.”

If AJ Lee returns to WWE, there’ll be no shortage of delighted fans. Stay tuned to SE Scoops for all the latest from the world of WWE and beyond.

Joe Hendry’s NXT Return Set For 7/30 Great American Bash: Night One

0

TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry will be back in WWE NXT as part of the first night of the Great American Bash special next week. On the July 23, episode of the gold brand, a vignette aired highlighting Hendry’s popularity and his career in wrestling so far. Hendry ended by revealing that he will perform a live concert next week on the show.

Joe Hendry’s Concert

Hendry has hosted several concerts in WWE, typically targeting a wrestler he’s feuding with, such as AJ Francis. When not performing in the ring, Hendry’s music videos have proven a hit with fans, and his entrance theme reached #1 on the iTunes charts earlier this year.

WWE NXT Great American Bash

Hendry’s concert will be just one highlight of next week’s first night of the Great American Bash. The July 30, show will also see NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo defend against Taivon Heights. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will defend against Thea Hail as the Prodigy looks to keep her reign alive and well.

NXT Champion Ethan Page and Oro Mensah will have a contract signing for their title match that will take place on the August 6, show. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles will be on the line next week as Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn will defend against Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend.

MJF Calls Will Ospreay “A ‘F***ing Gymnast'”

0

MJF believes he’s the true blue ‘Nature Boy’ while he thinks Will Ospreay watches too much tape of Simone Biles.

MJF just defeated Ospreay in a near 60-minute marathon to kick off last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite to become the new AEW International Champion and Maxwell Jacob Friedman is relishing every single minute of it.

In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, MJF had some harsh words for his recent opponent all while putting over his own athletic efforts.

“I’m on the Stairmaster every day for two hours. That’s the difference between me and Will Ospreay. I’m a real athlete. He’s a f—— gymnast.”

RELATED: Will Ospreay Gifted 7-Year-Old Fan Who ‘Attacked’ MJF At AEW Dynamite 250

MJF was far from done as ‘The Scumbag’ also caught wind of Ric Flair’s praise. The two-time WWE Hall Of Famer happened to put a side-by-side photo of him and MJF hoisting up freshly won hardware. Max tipped the cap to ‘The Nature Boy’ but in natural heel form, put himself over at the same time.

“There’s a reason that after my match, Ric Flair posted a side-by-side comparison photo. I’m Ric Flair incarnated–and with all due respect to Ric, better.”

MJF certainly pulled from the page of ‘The Dirtiest Player In The Game’ in how he defeated Ospreay on Wednesday. Will’s conscience got the better of him nearing the end of the bout as he hesitated to hit his self-banned Tiger Driver and MJF took advantage, hitting him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. We’ll more than likely hear from both stars this week on a stacked episode of AEW Dynamite that features a big Blood & Guts bout.

Pat McAfee Co-Host Slams WWE 2K24 Fans & NXT Wrestlers

0

Pat McAfee’s sports TV show co-host Ty Schmit has taken a dig at WWE 2K24 fans and NXT wrestlers.

WWE 2K24’s upcoming downloadable content, the Pat McAfee Show Pack, has continued to be poorly received before its release. The new update will hit digital stores on July 31 and is expected to be available for purchase for $9.99. The DLC will feature the former NFL Punter turned Monday Night Raw Commentator and his talk show co-hosts Ty Schmit, Boston Connor, AJ Hawk, and Darius Butler.

Although McAfee and his peers have been excited about their involvement with the game, wrestling video game fans haven’t been thrilled. The notable complaint is that WWE 2K24 has several featured stars from NXT, like Lola Vice or Sol Ruca, who weren’t in the game at launch and won’t be in the WWE 2K24 season pass. While the DLC presents an opportunity for McAfee and his co-hosts, fans have spoken out about feeling it was an unnecessary addition and could’ve been used to put more talent in the game.

McAfee finally responded to the negative feedback about the upcoming DLC on July 23 on X by calling out the internet wrestling community that criticized it. The reaction wasn’t well received, but he and his co-hosts decided to respond collectively to the criticism during the July 23 episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

Given his work in WWE, the Monday Night Raw Commentator admitted that he was flustered by the unenthusiastic reactions to the DLC. He also noted that WWE 2K contacted them to be in the game and that he and his co-hosts didn’t take another talent spot that was supposed to be initially involved.

Ty Schmit Bashes WWE 2K24 Fans & NXT Roster

While McAfee explained why he felt the criticism was unwarranted, Schmit spoke harshly to video game fans and members of the NXT roster.

“…You know a lot of people are pissed, especially that D-Butch(Butler), Connor, myself, AJ are in it because they want some of these other losers that no one has ever heard of from NXT to be in the game. ‘Why are these guys not in the DLC pack?’ Well, it’s because no one wants to play with them, that’s why,” said Schmit. He added, “..At first, it was like, man, should I be upset that these people are pissed that we’re in the game? No, Absolutely not. F*ck them. That’s kind of where I stand.”

It’s worth noting that McAfee laughed about the remark and shared that he was going to clip Schmit’s comments, which he released on X. The group continued to express how WWE 2K24 fans were not as receptive to the DLC as they had hoped and referred to the critics as bums.

Schmitt’s and the rest of the crew’s comments will continue to add more fuel to the fire of why fans could be upset with their involvement in the game. However, they don’t seem to care and are excited to play as themselves in WWE 2K24 next week.

Donovan Dijak Reveals His Focus For Post-WWE Run

0

Donovan Dijak is enjoying the freedom he has found after leaving WWE and it doesn’t appear that he is in a rush to sign a new contract with any promotion.

The former WWE star recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet for his Insight podcast. He discussed things such as the original pitch for Retribution, whether he’s worried about burning bridges with WWE and more.

When asked what are his immediate plans after leaving the Endeavor-owned promotion last month when his contract expired, Dijak explained that after having no control on his career for so long, he’s leaning towards keeping all his options open:

“I am keeping my options open. There’s literally nothing in any direction that I’m leaning, because my professional life has been so directed for so long that having all these available options, and I’m not saying that everybody’s clamoring for me, but just the possibility of multiple scenarios is very exciting for me.”

Dijak Is Focused on Proving Himself

The former NXT star mentioned how he made his debut in 2013 and 7 out of his 10 active years have been spent in WWE. So now Donovan Dijak is excited to get back to the independent circuit:

“As of this moment, I’m just gung-ho on the independent circuit, because that’s what’s directly in front of me right now, and I’m very comfortable in that scenario because I’ve done it before.

I don’t know that there is a lot left to prove in ring per say, but there’s a ton left for me to prove – how do I wanna phrase this – as an entity. Does that make sense?”

Dijak has been in demand since his WWE exit and many promotions have already booked him for shows. He was also backstage at the Forbidden Door PPV but the wrestling star claims that he didn’t talk to or meet Tony Khan at the event.

SEScoops recently had the opportunity to talk to the popular star. He spoke candidly about things such as his relationship with CM Punk, his run in NXT, and more. You can check out our interview with Dijak below:

Gov. Whitmer On Hulk Hogan Endorsing Donald Trump – ‘I’m An Iron Sheik Fan’

0

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has shared her support for the Iron Sheik after Hulk Hogan publicly endorsed Donald Trump for President. At the 2024 Republican National Convention, Hogan called Trump his “hero” and endorsed the 78-year-old to be a “real American.”

Appearing in Lansing, Michigan, Whitmer was asked for her thoughts on Hogan’s endorsement of Trump. She joked “This was the question I was hoping not to get asked tonight” and threw her support behind the Iron Sheik. While Whitmer spoke of Sheik being from Lansing, Michigan, this was the original Sheik Ed Farhat. The Iron Sheik, who passed away in June 2023, was born in Iran.

Hogan isn’t the only notable name in wrestling backing the former President. WWE Hall of Famer Glenn Jacobs is backing Trump as he has done for years. On Twitter, Jacobs, the Mayor of Knox County, TN, argued that Joe Biden was not fit to serve as President after the Democrat leader announced he would not seek re-election this November. Jacobs was at the RNC, as was Linda McMahon who delivered a speech before Hogan and Trump himself.

Whitmer has thrown her support behind Kamala Harris for the November election. The Vice President has been endorsed by several names so far, including President Biden.

Darby Allin Details Origin Of Infamous Sex Sent Me To ER Clip

0

Darby Allin is known for many wild things but even the most hardcore of fans get surprised when they found out about one of his very early TV appearances.

Before he was a successful wrestler, Allin actually made an appearance on the Sex Sent Me To The ER reality series where he claimed to have been stung by some bees in the forest.

The infamous video still pops up on social media every now and then. During a recent interview with Battleground podcast, Allin was asked about it and he revealed how the whole thing came about.

The high-flying star revealed that he was in the film school at the time and found out about the show through a website:

“It’s so funny when people repost it as if I’m trying to hide it. It’s like, I’m the one who told in an interview years ago with Chris Van Vliet that I did that show and people [are like], ‘Wait, he did?’ I’m the one who told people, it’s funny, it’s hilarious.

It’s like ‘Oh breaking news’ because no one has a goddamn life anymore. The thing is, I was going to film school in Arizona, and I saw this, there’s website with all these reality shows. And I said, ‘Oh, Sex sent me to ER, that sounds funny. Let’s come up with a story.'”

Darby Allin Forged A Doctor’s Note

According to Darby Allin the whole thing was made up and he even forged a doctor’s note to prove its authenticity. The girl who was featured in the video alongside him was an aspiring actress:

“So I made up this fake story, forged a doctor’s note that had happened, because they actually asked, ‘Did it really happen? We need doctor’s notes.’ And I was like, ‘yeah.’

So I met the girl on Craigslist. She was an aspiring actress, and we came up with the story. The day that we shot is the first day I met her. Then we just got our story straight, and then went in and filmed it.”

The Whole Experience Was Fun

Darby Allin later revealed that the video resulted in a good pay day that was like a godsent to him during his struggling days because he was surviving on very little money:

“It was just funny because that’s back when I was in film school, and I had no money. Literally no shit. I was living off of $5 a week on food. It was horrible. It was so bad. I worked at the 99 cents store at the time. So when I was in the freezer where they keep all the food, I’d be like, eating the food secretly back there. I had no money.

I forgot exactly the numbers it was like $500 or maybe $800 to do this reality thing. They flew me down to California. I was like ‘This is awesome. I can afford to eat now.’ Yeah, the whole experience was fun. It’s just fun coming up with stories and messing around and having a good time.”

Apart from this, Darby Allin also talked about taking risks and doing extreme spots ahead of his Blood & Guts match this Wednesday. You can check out what he said here.

Will Ospreay Gifted 7-Year-Old Fan Who ‘Attacked’ MJF At AEW Dynamite 250

0

A seven-year-old fan, Mia Liszewski was recently involved in the match between Will Ospreay and MJF for the AEW International Championship last week. It has come to light that she received a gift from ‘The Aerial Assassin’ after the 250th edition of AEW Dynamite.

The milestone edition of the show emanated from Little Rock, Arkansas last week. As MJF and Ospreay were battling in the crowd, Mia punched MJF. ‘The Salt of The Earth’ was not happy with it and gave her the one-finger salute. The video clip of the incident went viral on social media and it has garnered more than 10 million views on X.

Alongside her father, Stan Liszewski, the Arkansas girl spoke with ABC7 News. They talked about the special moment during the show. Mia’s father then revealed that Will Ospreay gave her one of his t-shirts which she was wearing.

“Will Ospreay, big hero at that time, he was the champion. As you can see, he gave her one of his shirts and she’s wearing it.”

It must be humiliating for MJF to get punched by a seven-year-old but he had the last laugh that night. He dethroned Will Ospreay to become the AEW International Champion. The pair of talented wrestlers battled it out for the title in a gruesome match that went on for an hour.

At one point, ‘The Aerial Assassin’ lifted MJF for the Tiger Driver 91. However, Ospreay, who said he wouldn’t use the move looked hesitated. MJF laid out Ospreay with his Dynamite Diamond Ring before pinning him for the three count. It seems that the newly-crowned AEW International Champion has already become a target.

Dominik Mysterio’s Brutal Rejection of Liv Morgan On WWE RAW Translated

0

‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio didn’t hold back in his comments about Liv Morgan in both England and Spanish during the latest episode of WWE RAW. After weeks of Morgan’s advances, Mysterio made clear this week that he doesn’t like the WWE Women’s World Champion, leaving Morgan in tears after RAW went off the air.

Dominik switched between English and Spanish during his comments to Liv and thanks to Oscar The WWE Nexus Shirt Guy, we know exactly what he said.

“I hate you Liv! Are you stupid? Are you deaf? Do you not understand what I’m telling you b***h? I don’t like you! You’ve ruined my life, over and over again. I can’t understand what goes on in your head! Are you a dumbass or what? I can’t stand you! You’ve ruined everything for me, and now– I hate you with all of my life!”

With all seemingly forgiven between Rhea and Dominik, Mami can now focus on WWE SummerSlam 2024 where she will challenge Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship. It remains to be seen what headspace the champ will be in come August 3 after this brutal bi-lingual rejection by ‘Daddy Dominik’ on RAW.

Ronda Rousey Comments On Potential Return To UFC: “If I Could, I Definitely Would”

0

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey recently shared her thoughts on possibly stepping foot inside the UFC cage. Speaking with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated, Rousey was asked if she ever plans on returning to fight. She said:

“I appreciate when people ask. Maybe it means they still miss me.”

After a successful MMA career, Ronda Rousey decided to retire in 2016. She had suffered consecutive knockout losses to both Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in title fights. Holly Holm handed her first career loss at UFC 193. Meanwhile, Amanda Nunes defeated her in December 2016. Recently, Rousey has been candid about suffering from concussions during her UFC run. Would Ronda Rousey fight for the UFC again?

“If I could, I definitely would. If I want to have a whole basketball team full of kids, I can’t take any more detours. I’ve always wanted to be a mom with a lot of kids.”

– Ronda Rousey to Sports Illustrated

‘Rowdy’ then shifted her career to WWE a year later where her first run was remarkable. She won the Raw Women’s Title and headlined WrestleMania 35 with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. However, her second run was lackluster which ended last year. She departed the company after SummerSlam where she was defeated by Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match.

While she’s enjoying motherhood, she has found a new passion in writing. Ronda Rousey has recently sold her first screenplay to Netflix. The UFC Hall of Famer is also set to make her graphic novel debut with Expecting The Unexpected which launches on July 25.

Ronda Rousey has teamed up with comics publisher AWA and Mike Deodato, Jr., a reputed comic book artist. They have created spectacular fight scenes and the story revolves around a deadly hitwoman, who is pregnant. She has a bounty on her head and has to fight off the assassins.

The beverage in question uses the terms ‘Olympic’ ‘Olympian,’ and ‘Team USA’, and also refers to ‘going for gold’ on its label.

The Olympic Committee, which also represents the Paralympic Games, claims in the suit that PRIME has acted “in bad faith.” The committee adds that it has sent a cease-and-desist to PRIME but the Durant-inspired product continues to be sold.

The suit states that consumers could be misled to believe there is an agreement between the Olympic and Paralympic Committee and PRIME. This year’s games will kick off this Friday in Paris, France.

Criticisms of PRIME

Earlier this month, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer called for an investigation into PRIME due to the high caffeine content of its energy drink. PRIME responded by stating that it companies with all requirements in the countries it operates in. As data from caffeineinformer.com shows, PRIME Energy has 56.3mg of caffeine per 100ml, more than Red Bull (32mg per 100ml) or Monster (33.8mg per 100ml).

Last year, a lawsuit was filed stating that PRIME’s grape-flavored drink contained per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances. In April 2024, Paul disclosed that PFAS were not listed ingredients but were detected in the product.

PRIME currently serves as the official sponsor of WWE PLEs and is the promotion’s first sponsor to receive branding on the ring mat. A ‘Hydration Station,’ complete with PRIME bottle can be found ringside at RAW and SmackDown events. In January 2023, UFC announced a partnership with PRIME that saw corroboration at UFC events.

Donovan Dijak On WWE Exit, Retribution & ‘Burned Bridges’

0

Former WWE Superstar Donovan Dijak recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet to reflect on his journey in wrestling and his abrupt release from WWE earlier this year. Dijak was with the promotion for seven years and had runs in NXT and on the main roster. Dijak never held gold in WWE but has already won a championship now he’s back on the indies.

On Leaving WWE

When sharing that he’d be exiting WWE in a letter, Dijak claimed that the promotion had “stonewalled” attempts to negotiate a new deal. Now out of the company, Dijak is looking forward to what’s to come.

“[I’m feeling] Excited. Yeah, it took a little bit of time to get over the initial waves of emotions, mostly disappointment, frustration and fear. But now I’m in a really good spot because I’ve had a good solid week of let’s call it return on investment.”

On If He’s Burned Bridges With WWE

With his letter, Dijak made his views on WWE ‘stonewalling’ his attempts to sign a new deal crystal clear. When asked if his very public display may have hurt his chances at a return, Dijak argued that nothing he wrote was dishonest.

“If that letter burned a bridge with WWE, then they need to take a long hard look at themselves because everything in that letter is true and it’s what they did. So if me telling the truth about their actions, burns a bridge, then maybe they should consider changing their actions because that doesn’t reflect well on them. All I did was say what you did to me.”

Dijak pointed out that he didn’t scorn or badmouth anyone in WWE or throw out wild allegations against the company. Instead, he simply said “these are the facts” of what happened to him in the company.

On Being At Forbidden Door

Mere days after his WWE exit, Dijak teased appearing at AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door and whilst he wasn’t shown on-screen, he was backstage at the event.

Dijak: “I did not talk to Tony [Khan]… some phone calls were made, we saw where we could go and Steve [from Paragon] has enough connections at AEW where it was, I don’t know who’s in charge of green lighting who goes backstage, but in some capacity, I was approved to be backstage.

Dijak added that he was welcomed with “open arms” at Forbidden Door and he had great conversations with old friend. Dijak name-dropped reigning AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland as one of the individuals he spoke to.

On Retribution

During his WWE run, Dijak worked as Retribution T-Bar though the group struggled to make an impact on the main roster. According to the ex-Superstar, the idea for the group was agreed upon long before the wrestlers were picked.

“Retribution existed before the members of it were selected in any capacity. The original group of Retribution that you saw on Monday Night Raw was a bunch of writers and extras all wearing those head-to-toe blacks and throwing Molotov cocktails at a generator.

Dijak filmed a brief vignette in his basement and presented it to Vince McMahon who after watching spoke about the importance of professionalism to the Superstar.

“I made the pitch about Retribution. He was like ‘You need to have more respect you know for these board members, these CEOs’… it’s just a very confusing message and I’m like yes sir. Sounds good. Yeah, I’ll be more professional next time.

On If FOX Had An Issue With Retribution

Following his own release from WWE, fellow Retribution member Mace said Retribution was scrapped as many saw it as too similar to Antifa. On the podcast, Dijak addressed the rumor that FOX, the broadcaster of SmackDown, had an issue with the group.

“I never heard that in an official capacity. I never saw a report that said that. But yes, that is the rumor I heard that Fox did not like Retribution, which for the record they had every right.”

Latest On Kayla Becker’s Film Project After Parting Ways With WWE

0

More has come to light about the film project Kayla Becker has been working on following her recent exit from WWE. Becker worked for years as Kayla Braxton before her time with the company ended in June 2024. Becker served as an interview, announcer, and host for years in WWE and was given a fitting sendoff after her final show in Madison Square Garden.

Kayla Becker’s Film Project

Shortly after her exit from WWE, Becker shared that she had wrapped filming her scenes for a feature film, the first for the former ring announcer. Becker will be a part of Stranglehold, Deadline reports and will play Ashley, a dancer in a club that the lead characters intend to rob.

The film stars Justin Long (Dear David, Clerks 3), Ashley Benson (Mob Land, Pixels), and Jake Lacy (Rampage, Johnny English Strikes Again). A synopsis of the film provided by Deadline reads:

“Bailey (Benson) is an exotic dancer with big dreams. She and her Army vet husband Tim (Lacy) are fed up with their lives of barely getting by in small-town Arkansas, so they decide to rob the strip club that employs her.”

The film is being directed by Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine 2), who co-wrote the screenplay with Chandler Duke (Arizona) and Billington Garrett (You Belong To Me.) On Twitter, Becker shared her excitement for the project.

This is a huge step for Becker who is ready to establish her name outside the world of WWE. Keep tuned into SE Scoops for all the latest on the former WWE broadcaster.

Darby Allin Explains Why He Can’t Stop Doing Extreme Spots: I Never Phone It In

0

Darby Allin says he is always ready to take big risks in any match because he doesn’t want any of his performances to feel like he’s phoning it in.

The former TNT Champion recently had an interview with Battleground podcast to promote the upcoming Blood and Guts special of Dynamite this Wednesday.

During the interview, Allin first discussed his crazy Anarchy In The Arena match at Double or Nothing 2024. During the bout, Darby took a superkick from the Young Bucks who were wearing boots lined with thumbtacks.

The AEW star revealed that he had to pull thumbtacks out of his lip after the bout and his nose injury made for an awkward conversation with his doctor:

“My nose, you couldn’t see it cause this shirt was hanging over my face, but my nose blew up like a faucet. When I got to the back, I had to pull thumbtacks out of my lip. I went right to the hospital. I thought this whole thing was re broke.

It was a pretty crazy night, and trying to explain that to [the doctor], because right before of that match, I had to get clearance from my nose doctor. Then the nose doctor signed me off, he said, ‘Be careful.’ And coming back and having to explain that, yeah, that was really awkward conversation.”

I Don’t Take Any of This Shit For Granted: Darby Allin

Darby Allin later mentioned how a lot of people advise him against such spots. According to the former champion, however, the drive to take big risks comes from the necessity to prove his haters wrong:

“Everybody tells me, ‘Take it easy. Slow down. You’re not gonna be able to walk when you’re 30.’ And it’s like, ‘Well, I’m 31 and I feel great.’ Believe it or not, even though like my foot, my face, everything feels great. It comes from a background of growing up working as a dishwasher, constantly being told that you’re never gonna amount to anything.

So going out there every night, I don’t forget where I came from. So that’s why you’ll never see Darby Allin phone it in. It could be on in front of 10 people, 10,000 people. 81,000 people. I never phone it in. Because I don’t take any of this shit for granted.”

The Blood And Guts episode of AEW Dynamite will see Darby Allin teaming with Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens to take on Kazuchika Okada, Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Jack Perry & “Hangman” Adam Page in the extreme bout.

Liv Morgan Breaks Down In Tears Backstage After Dominik Insults Her

0

WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan is heartbroken after Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio publicly humiliated her.

‘Dirty Dom’ has had enough of Morgan. He hasn’t reciprocated the feelings despite Morgan pursuing him for weeks. In a Raw Exclusive, Liv Morgan could be seen crying in the backstage area after Dominik Mysterio insulted her.

On the latest edition of Raw, Dominik came across Liv Morgan in the backstage area. When Rhea Ripley came to know about it, she angrily brought Dominik to the ring. ‘Mami’ called out Morgan, who was in the audience.

Liv Morgan once again expressed her feelings for Dominik and said men like Dominik prefer girls like her over Ripley. Dom stopped a furious Rhea Ripley before hurling insults at Morgan. He made it clear that he hated Morgan and that she meant nothing to him. This left the champ in tears.

Last month, Liv Morgan had shocked the fans when she locked lips with Dominik. In the following weeks, Morgan continued to flirt with Dominik. However, the situation got interesting when Rhea Ripley returned from a shoulder injury and interrupted Morgan, who almost kissed Dom again. Last week, ‘Mami’ continued to ignore Dominik but later in the show, she forgave him.

Morgan is all set to put the WWE Women’s World Championship on the line against Rhea Ripley at next month’s SummerSlam Premium Live Event.

Xavier Woods’ 10-Year Streak Ends With 7/22 WWE RAW Tag Team Match

0

A decade-long record held by Xavier Woods was shattered on the latest episode of Raw when the former King of the Ring was in six-man action. During the July 22, show, Woods teamed with Akira Tozawa and Otis but came up short against The Final Testament.

This was Woods’ first tag-team match in over a decade in which the former King of the Ring did not team with at least one member of the New Day. The last instance of this came during the July 1, 2014, taping of WWE Main Event where Woods and R-Truth lost to Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

H/T to @WWEStats for uncovering this stat. Stay tuned to SEScoops for more interesting wrestling facts and statistics.

The Future of the New Day

In recent weeks, The Final Testament has sought to split Woods from Kofi Kingston, an act that’d end the New Day as we know it in the process. Karrion Kross told Woods in May that “there’s always time left on the table” for him to join and leave the New Day behind. On a recent edition of the Getting Over podcast, Big E said that the faction is “at a crossroads” and that it’s an “interesting time” for the faction as a split continues to be teased.

Kofi Kingston said last year that the faction will never break up, though that’s exactly what happened in 2021 when Big E was drafted to Raw without Kofi and Woods. It was reported in March 2023 that Vince McMahon had several pitches that’d see the group split but the three members were adamantly against any on-screen fractures.

Could we be seeing the last of the New Day? Stay tuned to SE Scoops for all the latest in the world of WWE and beyond.

CJ Perry Channels ‘Lana’ To React To Liv Morgan Segment On WWE RAW

0

It’s been years since CJ Perry worked as Lana in WWE, but the ex-Superstar revived the ‘Ravishing Russian’ for a recent video about Liv Morgan. On the July 22, episode of RAW, Liv Morgan’s efforts to win over Dominik Mysterio proved futile as ‘Dirty Dom’ officially got back together with Rhea Ripley. On Twitter, Perry shared her support for Morgan and often slipped into the Russian accent she often used during her time with WWE. Dressed in a Liv Morgan, Perry said that “Mother Russia” is going to win and encouraged fans to purchase Liv’s merchandise.

https://twitter.com/TheCJPerry/status/1815587920298058142

Perry’s revival of Lana comes mere weeks after she was removed from AEW’s roster and told USA Today that she was “gone” from the All-Elite promotion. Perry was reportedly part of cuts to AEW’s roster made in April but her removal from the roster website was only made recently.

In the past, Perry has suggested that a WWE return could happen, telling In The Kliq podcast last month that “I’m open to everything.” On the same podcast, Perry described WWE CCO Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque and Stephanie McMahon as geniuses and reiterated that “I’m always open to go back to WWE and tell compelling stories.”

CJ Perry & Liv Morgan

In late 2019, Liv returned to WWE programming and revealed that she was in love with Lana, suggesting that the pair had been in a relationship. This revelation came about during Lana’s on-screen wedding to Bobby Lashley, though the story between Liv and Lana was quickly dropped.

Outside of the ring, Morgan and Perry are close friends and can regularly be spotted hanging out on their respective social media accounts. Liv was recently invited to Perry’s birthday celebration and used some WWE-learned skills when a small fire broke out in Perry’s home.

The Miz Hopes To Get One More Moment With John Cena Before Retirement

0

The Miz is hoping to get one more moment with John Cena before the WWE legend calls it a career and hangs his wrestling boots for good.

The two WWE superstars have a long history together. They have been arch-rivals in the ring while also being really good friends behind the scenes.

The A-Lister recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated to discuss Cena announcing plans for his retirement from active competition. The Cenation Leader has confirmed that 2025 will be his last year as an active performer.

The former IC Champion mentioned how he is proud to have shared the ring with John Cena in his career and claimed that Cena is the greatest of all time. The Miz then expressed that he has mixed emotions on the announcement of his retirement:

“He’s a bona fide movie star now, but he loves this so much he’s still going to do live events. I still can’t believe this is it for him. I’m sad, but I’m also happy–this must be what he wants.”

Never Thought I’d Do That: The Miz

The Miz mentioned their history including their latest encounter at Raw after WrestleMania 40 where they teamed together. The wrestling veteran said that he hopes to have one more moment with Cena before his career comes to a close:

“I would love one more moment with him. We were rivals for so long, and just this past WrestleMania, the day after, I’m tagging with John Cena doing the ‘You can’t see me’ and giving AA’s to people. I never thought I’d ever do that.”

John Cena and The Miz have shared the ring for more than 150 different matches both as rivals and tag team partners. The biggest testament to their importance in each other’s career is probably their main event match at WrestleMania XXVII.

With a rivalry as great as this, the 43-year-old certainly deserves the opportunity to step in the ring with the Hollywood Star at least one more time before the curtain falls on the legendary career of Cena.

WWE SummerSlam 2024: Updated Card With CM Punk’s Return

0

WWE has officially confirmed CM Punk’s in-ring return match against Drew McIntyre for the upcoming SummerSlam 2024 event with a twist.

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a segment with the Straight Edge Star. Punk cut a promo on Drew McIntyre and tried to attack him when the Scottish Psychopath showed up at the ringside.

Adam Pearce however, brought in security to restrain the former AEW Star. He went on to announced a match between the two for the upcoming PLE, while also warning them of a suspension on getting physical before that.

Pearce then mentioned how he has a ‘referee’ problem which was the perfect cue for Seth Rollins. The Architect shaked Pearce’s hand and mentioned that no one wants to referee the match between the two WWE stars. He confirmed that he will be officiating the match at the upcoming show.
